we have a great interview for you.
On our last segment of the show, we have Mr Kevin Bowen called in from one of 75 The fan to talk about the Colts.
Kevin were so grateful.
Toe, have you on here? And we couldn't be more excited to talk about the Colts with you as you get into these team profile. Siri's.
Well, quick, though, Where can people find you at and what's what's something that you just came out with recently? Even go ahead and check out the great work that you dio.
Yeah, they got me on again, Dan.
People can find me on Twitter at Cabo in 10 71 of 75 fan dot com has old my written content, and I was probably the most interesting thing that I've recently posted was projecting rookie playing time.
I would say of all of the teams, especially teams that didn't have a first round pick the cold head, you know, two very, very attractive fantasy pick with Michael Pittman.
Johnson Taylor right off the bat.
So take a little bit of a deeper dive in the all mind of their draft, takes it and try to look ahead to how much they could fly here in 2020.
Yeah, especially with the cold, Because there's a lot of questions.
We're gonna have some questions for you today about some of the rookie playing time that we want to be able to get into.
We have for you.
Make sure you follow Kevin.
First of all, at Key Kay Bowen, 10 70.
I even find one.
There's a great follow.
Always great news coming out for the Indianapolis Colts.
And before we get into it, though, Kevin, I just want to ask you real quick.
How how are you? How's your has your family? You guys staying healthy through these times? We are appreciate you asking.
Yeah. Immediate family has been really healthy.
My wife and I actually expecting our first child from in about 3.
Yeah, I want a precaution to our family.
She just went into the hospital for a 36 speak appointment and has kind of been and eerie feeling, But again, immediate family, everyone.
Is it healthy with most important thing.
Hopefully, you are a swell and all of your listeners.
Yeah, we've been We've been great here as well.
I can't I can't really imagine having a kid right now.
That would That is kind of a little bit of scary, exciting as well, But yeah, I can tell.
There's definitely be a little bit scary.
With everything going on right now having to go in the hospital.
We mean that not necessarily want to so best left to you guys.
I hope everything goes really, really well, Thank you.
And now to get into it, we've got the Colts first.
First I'm gonna lead off with, but carries for quite some time.
So that's something that remains to be seen.
But I think we're we gone Trading off Siris for me would would make the most sense.
Those two guys playing person second down, and then Hind comes on the field on third down.
Yeah, personally, as a guy who is going to be projecting breaking season, it wouldn't doc Greek dip if that, rather than for if there's a lockout, emerge out down the tennis thing, this matter is gonna possibly be traded or look to be traded this year.
Yeah, you know that that is the question that a few fans have asked me.
I'm gonna say no.
They really like Marlon Mack.
And you're sorry for me to go on like a 32nd.
Ran about feeling bad for Marlon back.
But I do feel bad for him.
Like he's 1/4 round pick that has produced great, very nice level compared to okay behind Frank Gore in 2017 they need nearly 1000 yards. 2018.
He goes over 1000 yards last year.
That's a great trajectory for 1/4 round pick.
Three years in the league, and he's only 24 years old.
We just turned 24.
Now, unfortunately, he plays the worst position of football supply.
If you want to have a long term career, so I but I don't think they will.
This is not like they don't like Marlon Mack.
Don't work at it like that.
It's the fact of again this running back and they're very committed to the right Teoh ground game.
Sort of run the **** ball mantra and they look at it as okay, let's get another guy unfold and then obviously there will be a passing of the torch.
So I think considering the attrition that you see it running back.
Even the job today would have been extremely durable.
I don't see trading.
It would be very wise.
I mean, how much return would you get? I think you just kind of bites the bullet and say All right, you know, let him walk.
Maybe get a compensatory back, pick back form.
You move on from there.
I mean, the only reason I could ever even really see them doing it would be because Marlon Max contract is a just like that from fancy football.
Does the embassy was used Restaurant, is he? Good morning.
Really? Other guys that have lately that have reached 1000 yard number or more of the best you guys.
Where? Fitzgerald Bigger body possession receiver Julian Edelman, out of slot as a has a possession.
You know, guys, well, that's not never will help gain, you know, obviously had it kind of catches, but he hasn't been like a whatever 78 catch guy game in and game out from.
So I think we're there with health, and they do think over topic and still make some plays.
And that's where the rivers arm strength question will commend.
Oh, plays well, but I also think that they want to try and utilize him underneath some crossing stuff of like, This guy is a 43 40 yard bash guy, and there hasn't been maybe enough of the yak and the big play ability with the ball in his hands that they would like Mom.
So I think that is something that needs to be tapped into should be tapped into with this offense this huge year.
For Hilton, this is the contract year, and he just missed six games last season due to injury.
He talked earlier in the week.
You know about how he wants to sign one more contract here and in Indianapolis and then retire, But he's got to prove himself.
I think he is so durable throughout his career.
And then last year the injuries started a pile of especially lower body injuries, and he just couldn't be on the field.
But he such a key guy on this team.
They're one and nine without you.
I Hilton in the white up, which is a pretty crazy staff for an individual.
Be a non quarterback.
This is a big season for way up there.
That was a concern as well, especially on his person issue that a little bit about how to run executed that well, if you can play more of a But, said Keenan Allen, a parole, that phone numbers is used to the greasy pair Campbell sliding into that deep main threat role.
And what kind of production do you really see out of him? Or kind of leap that he might be all taken his development this season? Yeah, I look at Pat Campbell as the future slot receiver for this team.
You know that they weren't able to happen to his big play ability at all.
Last season, he was injured a lot.
We have four different injuries last year, three surgeries on a broken hand, broken foot from what else with, ah, a hamstring injury, maybe in ah in training camp and then hurting as well.
So this is a guy that you've got to stay healthy for sure.
But again, it's big play ability of like 43 40 speed, I think the fastest of any wide out at the combine last year, when he was on the field last year, he played in seven games average seven yards per catch.
Obviously a very small number for any white out, healthy small number for any tight end.
And that's something that this team has got to improve on with him.
You've got to provide more of the big play element for this team because he is a guy that you feel like.
OK, high percentage, touch screen, quick inner crosser.
You can just kind of go and and that wasn't really utilized as much last season.
So it is a huge year for him, but I think he will be this team slot light out.
And they are bullish on him for good reason, I think.
But yeah, that'll be.
That'll be something Teoh to continue to keep an eye on.
This was just more of a personal thing for me when I was scouting Paris, Campbell before the Colts drafted him going through the whole draft process.
I actually looked at him and somebody I thought could be a wide receiver that maybe should turn into a running back at some point.
Screw just the way he was built with scores of ability that he has.
And I thought because I thought he had a long way to go on his route.
Running development coming out of college there, Uh, would just out of curiosity, what do you think of that? That's something I've talked about on my show before.
I thought you could be running back.
Maybe down the road? Yeah.
I mean, maybe a little bit of a gadget ish Percy Harvin type of guy, because, you know, he wasn't Urban Meyer's often Ohio State, and that kind of was his role.
Another young received after having back from every Michael Bay wants to kind of do we think, Michael, they work.
I got you a route that we have in our often have not had that x light out where, you know, you throw your trips to the right or left and boom, there's your big body.
I opposite that could beat man coverage.
They feel like he can win at every level.
Honestly, you know, you look at his numbers over 1000 yards over 100 catches over 10 cut down, and he did it with, you know, struggling quarterback play early on.
It took a while before us still on a starter.
It was a true freshman, So I like the Attleboro throw going.
So I think those numbers are really impressive.
I think he's one of them.
Ready wide out to the NFL.
I think in a normal year, he goes top 20 maybe even higher than that, Mom.
So the copes wise day one immediate impact ability, and I fully expect him to be that wide out happened.
Do you think is gonna lead the team in touchdowns? Well, that's good question.
I mean, to be honest with you, like Eric Ebron is a guy that is kind of led them in clutch longer.
We hit in 2018 and Hilton has never been a big touchdown guy.
That's always kind of the one thing will be You've never been big on Trey Burton is now their new number two tight end.
He's not a toll, no tight, and he only six to.
So, yeah, I I could keep it meant to be.
That's a the last of the about.
You guys didn't want Tom instantly get start day.
One of the joys, often on the border.
He melted like Philip Rivers, scribes with big body wideouts.
Anything something that we kind of know and you just referenced in Jackson.
But I was like, All right, look what local Deep red.
So if you look at the last 10 years for Rivers, his top two meeting wideouts each season with him, I want to say 17 of the 20 have been at least six to when nine of the 20 have been leased.
Terra Williams, Mike Williams.
Not employees of Keenan Allen.
A six to over 200.
Whatever. He has 200 towns like that.
I mean these air so bigger body wide out rivers have kind of thrived with watches.
Highlight tape from last year. River.
More like a Mike Williams.
Really? Yeah, just Williams, Moss and some people.
So I do think that sort of player like Pittman well, that's what filled Rivers Deep ball is.
It's I want to throw it up to somebody where they can go get a 50 50 ball.
That's that's kind of his deep ball is not surprising that he's able to get this quest with those bigger type of wide receivers throughout his career.
You have mentioned Eric, you brought a little bit earlier.
He's not on the team anymore.
You mentioned him.
What's the rotations, but going to be between them? Who is really gonna be the lead tight end from a from a fancy respective? You want snap on my 30 40 per game? Looking pretty good, Mom, that's different vibe rustics.
I did not do a lot of that kind of sole purpose for being on the field, So I think, you know, I think Door will get or plays and wrapped in those sort of things.
But I still Burger is gonna have a big role in the offense.
You know, it would be tough to pull the trigger on either of those guys, like a top 10 tight end or something like that, because I do think they will split a lot of wraps.
It is more of a run focused offense.
You have some intriguing White House.
Well, but knowing how much Frank Reich wants to use those tight ends, they still are gonna be on the field.
I don't see Jack Doyle being in the top 10 or even trade burn being a top 10 but I do have Jack Doyle was one of my sleeper guys who might be just outside in that.
Maybe that top 12 area top 13 area where he might actually be consistent production because of your point.
When I see I see Jacket will be on the field all time.
He's had success before in the past means on the field that much he you know.
The only thing is, he doesn't always get the touchdown because that's where guys like Trey Burton comes in.
But I do want to ask another question, though.
Let's to deal with morality. Cox.
I mean, I still get in this kind of your third tight end, okay? He's probably more of a blocker.
You know, I feel like you see these X Maskell players.
Everyone's like, Wow, they're gonna come in here and be a great receiver, but like, it is kind of more of a blocker for Alec Oxy.
You gotta grow into being more of a complete tight end.
Um, you know, sometimes might remember the colt had Eric Swope a few years ago, played basketball at Miami.
Kind of a similar.
What a little bit.
Has he just wasn t going here himself.
There's a little bit back with you, in a sense, to me, because I'm with you.
I don't think Moalim Cox was quite there yet, at least not quite there yet.
We're gonna have the confidence going into this season that he could really be the number two tight end moving on from that real quick.
I just talk about the defense a little bit cold, have a pretty good defense.
They have enough becoming defense, and with them adding Forest Buckner, What kind of defense are we going to be able to see this year? Fancy perspective? How many sacks? Turnovers? I think it could be one of those.
A lot of people are talking about, I think might be really, really good.
Yeah, Obviously, the trip for forced Buckner has gotten a ton of headlines.
It is a rare trey you don't very often see Team straight 15 overall pick for offensive tackles.
That's how much that position means the Colts and their defense and they need mawr of the production.
Like you said, they need more of a consistent past rush.
They need to take the ball away better at it at a higher rate.
And I do think Lochner can impact every level.
This defense I made the whole nation saw last year.
We 15 Monday Night Football.
That's an NFL record for completion percentage.
The Colts are the only team in NFL history to have given up back to back seasons of the least 70% completion percentage.
That's not good.
So what color is the guy that they feel like disrupt timing early in place? At least I think there is a question that I want to ask everybody that I have on this show. Just a consensus.
With everything going on right now.
What is your personal feelings about the prospects of the NFL season actually being able start on time? Yeah, it's obviously a great question.
I don't have a great, great gut feeling on it.
Part of me thinks that now we're starting to be okay.
What have NASCAR the P J.
A major league baseball being floated around kind of early July? The MBA take a decision as well.
That gives me a little bit of hope.
Hopefully, this is kind of a thing that we see, Go away a bit more in the warm weather and, you know, potentially in a couple of months, we have a better you.
Either it's more of a handle on testing and tracing and those sorts of things or even handle on.
Yeah, obviously, dream scenario would be a vaccine well down the road.
But you know, the NFL wants to play this season and they don't need fans in the stands.
Obviously, that is ideal, but that is not an absolute months for them from what they have from a TV revenue standpoint.
Until I going to make me, you know, guess right now I think they will play again.
I don't say that with a whole lot of conviction, but I just leaving on her medicine a little bit.
I believe in people kind of coming together of the next couple of months and getting some sort of idea on how that will actually look.
It will be weird.
It won't be normal.
That's kind of life in 2020 and then hopefully by next year everything will be back to normal from a fan attendance and health standpoint.
Yeah, I mean, that's the most we can all hope for I try to hold on that I hope as well, nothing else out of the need that's there for entertainment right now.
Um, but like you, I don't feel confident in that hope, but just have it for now. And so we get closer.
Uh, Kevin, I want to thank you so much for coming on the show.
You're absolutely great as you always are.
I want everyone checks out your podcasts through the Kevin Corners podcast.
Boerner is the cat diving like nine of right? I'm gonna get a month of love again real soon, my man, And they give government on the show.
Yeah, I appreciate me, Dan.
Have a good one.
