Nation B R A m Monument 85 3 age Colorado Springs is crazier than new Blazer, 98 5 You know what this weekend is? Three day weekend, really weaken Memorial Day weekend.
00:00:15
Memorial Day weekend.
00:00:17
A Memorial Day, a day when our war heroes are honored by even the most liberal of media.
00:00:23
Monday's Memorial.
00:00:24
Americans honor those who have given their lives in service to our nation or Land of the free because of the brave technical difficulties there.
00:00:51
Good morning.
00:00:52

00:01:03

00:01:04
10 40 as well.
00:01:05
A sports guy.
00:01:06
Mike dot com We're also on Facebook Live and SportsCastr dot com Sports guy Mike Brenda More or hanging out with you.
00:01:12
What's up, buddy? Hey, man, what's going on? Just another day in paradise and looking forward to a nice weekend coming up to, you know? Right.
00:01:18
Amen.
00:01:19
I got I got my coach.
00:01:20
Mike, you're on.
00:01:21
You know, I'm sitting under the light fan, you know, Got my flag football stuff going, so I like it.
00:01:28
It's red shirt Friday in order of the military and of course you know, mean missing coaching my kids and stuff.
00:01:35
I figured out rock my coaches holo here today.
00:01:40
So some, you know, we were talking about this prior Teoh, you know this show starting, you know, it's just it's sad that we can't talk about baseball and, you know, MBA finals and stuff.
00:01:54
It's a bummer, it really is.
00:01:56
But at least we are starting to see a little bit of movement somewhere.
00:02:00
You know, we'll talk about that here, coming up.
00:02:03
But, um, it is Memorial Day weekend on.
00:02:06
And I had to say this because being, you know, being a Marine and being a guy that, actually, you know, took the time to serve this country.
00:02:17
I'm not trying to poke it anybody he didn't.
00:02:19
But this is what is truly sad, my friend.
00:02:23
Now Memorial Day.
00:02:24
Of course, they caught the unofficial start of the summer, but here's the thing.
00:02:29
Believe it or not, According to the survey, it found out that more than half 57% of Americans don't know that Memorial Day is when we honor fallen members of the armed forces and who died in service.
00:02:46
1/3 said there weren't sure what the differences between Veterans Day, Memorial Day and over 1/4 thought Memorial Day was all about honoring all veterans, which, uh, is what Veterans Day is about now.
00:03:03
That being said, 82% of us or those people, I should say, I think it's important to do something to commemorate the holiday.
00:03:11
I know not think I know that is important to do something.
00:03:16
Um, you know, for this memorial a holiday or any memorial day, a couple things for those of you that maybe don't know what to do.
00:03:24
And you're just kind of like, Yes, Memorial Day. Cool.
00:03:27
You can fly a flag, you can leave flowers on a soldiers grave.
00:03:32
Uh, then the patriotic event that's going on and know what the pandemic that's kind of hard, you know, stopped at the social distancing.
00:03:40
You could even fly a flag at half mast is also okay.
00:03:46
But what's crazy is it blows my mind.
00:03:49
Did that People still don't know the difference between Memorial Day and Veterans Day.
00:03:57
Like a couple of years ago, I gave my kids like sidewalk chalk and able now and they drew like a flag and, you know, looked like that on our driveway in the sidewalk.
00:04:07
That's something that you can have your kids do. Also.
00:04:10
How crazy is it that people still don't know the difference between Memorial Day and Veterans Day? Yeah, I think it's a sitting there.
00:04:17
Yes, it's one of those things, too, where you have to know your holidays.
00:04:20
And I know being a public school teacher.
00:04:22
We keep up with that because I do teach history and stuff like that, too.
00:04:26
So we do talk about calendar dates and how important it is and especially, you know, for me, man, I just had so much family serve in the military.
00:04:32
I mean, thanks for your service for all those years to man and by my grandpa was involved with the, uh, different different branches military to the same time friends have been in the Army, so I find it a little bit astonishing, a little bit surprising that people can't figure out.
00:04:46
I guess the differences between it.
00:04:47
But I know for most people, it's, ah, very rare times that we're in right now.
00:04:51
As far as like you say we're talking for We went on air, man, going to a ball game.
00:04:55
Memorial Day was major league baseball.
00:04:57
And just like July 4th around the television and krill in which I'm gonna do coming up next week so way thank those fallen heroes and everybody serving in the military right now, every crisis we've been in and also the people on the front lines, because without you guys, we wouldn't have our freedom.
00:05:10
And so thank you for all you do.
00:05:12
Absolutely.
00:05:13
Now, you know, and and I don't want to harp on it.
00:05:15
And a new people be like, Oh, God.
00:05:17
Here, here goes Mike the Marine, he's gonna He's gonna stand on a soapbox and get mad at people that don't know.
00:05:22
It's just Look, you know, I mean, if you went to school, you know, and you just said history teacher, you know, if you went to school in any capacity whatsoever, you should know what Memorial Day is.
00:05:33
I mean, come on, people.
00:05:35
All right.
00:05:36
I never feel like that.
00:05:37
So the NFL, obviously trying to make sure that all the inner workings air going to go down and owners are expected to vote on rules during a May 28 virtual meeting at the half.
00:05:48
But the league's competition committee had already determined that the one year rule that allowed replay review of passing affairs penalties was so unpopular and so not effective that it would not even propose to be continued for another year.
00:06:05
But a nine idea that sprang from last year's conversation that led to the passage of France reviews is being considered again.
00:06:14
What they're considering is called a Sky judge, and it's gonna e I guess it's gonna be an onside kick alternative that they're gonna vote on as well.
00:06:26
OK, first of all, do we have football without an onside kick? I think you have to have football limit because, honestly, it puts yourself in game situations, especially with the score being right there very close and kind of when you want to do it.
00:06:40
It's a strategy type thing, and I know that high school games we called it Like I said, sometimes you know, late in the third or fourth of pitting on the game situation, so I'm all for it.
00:06:50
I think you just like I said it, jazz it up a little bit, too, as well.
00:06:53
I was kind of We were talking about forming on their Mandy, the kickoff rule in the XFL for opening kick offs.
00:06:58
Right with pretty cool, the guys couldn't move into the ball was kicked and like I said, it prevented less injuries.
00:07:02
So that's something that would meet to me, kind of make it more of a a type of football game that makes it more safe for players.
00:07:09
You try to do this for safety reasons in that kind of thing, and my problem with it is it just seems like we're getting away from the ultimate goal of Are we gonna have football? Are we gonna play football this far? We're gonna lose any games.
00:07:22
If so, how many? It's like they're trying to do all these little things and focus on Mitt picking certain topics.
00:07:28
And I look, I'm a big proponent.
00:07:31
When I see a defensive backs hands all over my wide receivers and stuff like that, you can't give me enough space to catch a football.
00:07:38
So again, yeah, we gotta have rules, man. But come on, Lee.
00:07:42
There comes a point where especially like you said playoff games and games down the stretch that counts.
00:07:47
You gotta let these guys play.
00:07:48
Just let them play, for God's sakes.
00:07:50
I mean, you know, a couple of hands here and they're pulling shirts and jerseys, stuff like that to look, I get it.
00:07:55
The bottom line is, you know, quarterbacks have to be better putting on a time, you know, thrown into receivers in stride to as well.
00:08:02
So you could knit.
00:08:03
Pick all this stuff now.
00:08:04
But I'm with you, man.
00:08:05
Let's get games back and let's quit.
00:08:07
MIT picking on on every rule change we confined or something like that.
00:08:10
Don't take the on site kick out.
00:08:11
Don't do that.
00:08:12
I know you look.
00:08:13
There's been so many adjustments made to football over.
00:08:18
I mean, just over the past five or six years, let alone 10 years.
00:08:23
Look, here's the thing that one of the biggest arguments in one of the biggest conversations I've always had with other colleagues and other friends of like that has always been the whole instant replay thing.
00:08:36
Now I know that they're not going to get rid of it, and that's fine because here's the thing.
00:08:41
With instant replay, it became the worst and the best thing that ever happened to football, it could.
00:08:48
As a fan, you're like, you know, if it benefits your team, you're like, Oh, man, I gotta go the replay on you know what I mean? So it would.
00:08:58
It would definitely take away from that experience for the fan.
00:09:02
However, Sometimes, man, a guy just makes such an unbelievable catch and talking about, ah, sliver of an inch like his foot didn't hit the grass.
00:09:15
It was that for a buck Grasso e didn't have both feet down to 15 years ago.
00:09:24
That would have been the most amazing catch whoever saw and it would have been good because we would have been going up.
00:09:29
Wait, hold on.
00:09:30
You better check that. Better check that on the replay.
00:09:32
So I mean, there's things that they've done in the NFL that have benefited and have helped the NFL.
00:09:38
And then there's some things that you just wish would go away that that replay of the pass interference I really that was a really bothersome call.
00:09:48
The fact that they were allowed to do that and not even that the actual role that was in play was bad, because for the most part, it was a good idea.
00:10:00
The problem was the referees weren't getting it right.
00:10:03
Her You go to a video and we'll get it wrong.
00:10:09
Come on, man.
00:10:10
With you on it, too, as well.
00:10:12
Because, honestly, look, man, I get through.
00:10:14
These guys were human beings.
00:10:15
They're still paid amongst the top employees, just like sometimes in NFL football.
00:10:19
For you can't tell me your head hockey league with the big guns there on the football field, you're still making $250,000 as a referee.
00:10:26
And your day job is being a lawyer at this.
00:10:29
I mean, come on, man, money is not gonna be an interview.
00:10:31
You're not gonna favor one team over another.
00:10:33
And you're correct on what you said about the assessment of Okay, if it's passed, you know, pass interference, we're gonna go to the replay booth for Ty.
00:10:39
If it's our team, they're like, go review and go review it. Now.
00:10:42
I want the best for our team.
00:10:43
And so it's It's never a level playing field than any type professional sports.
00:10:48
You see how the instant replay has affected MLB over the last couple of years.
00:10:52
And I think the bottom line is instead of the C B A is being about labor peace, the CBS Air always about who can get the most money and the nit pick of every godforsaken rule we can ever change, you know, Now we're talking about a universal deviates which I think should have been done 20 years ago, 25 years ago in baseball.
00:11:09
The pictures should not bat in MLB.
00:11:12
Okay, you're gonna now, but you're gonna do it For what, 80 games? No, I want to do it for the next 10 years.
00:11:17
Ryanair c p A.
00:11:18
So let's make up our minds and again be be concrete on this kind of stuff.
00:11:22
But I'm with you.
00:11:23
Look, we go back to the cost of ST A trip to the Super Bowl a couple years ago.
00:11:27
The pass interference that was blatant there at the goal line, and the Rams get in and lose to New England.
00:11:31
So again, if you're gonna be good with it, and it's gonna be a system we can use and use it the right way, but also used the two things God gave.
00:11:38
Use your eyes first before you go to video replay.
00:11:41
Look, I I never want the human element taken out of it.
00:11:46
You don't get me wrong.
00:11:48
Eventually, we're going to get there.
00:11:49
It's gonna happen there already.
00:11:51
China replace umpires with camera.
00:11:54
You know what I mean? Which I as a you know, I don't call myself a baseball purist, but I am definitely a guy who believes in old school baseball.
00:12:04
You know what I mean? The whole instant replay coming into baseball kind of bothered me a little bit.
00:12:10
I want a big fan of it because I saw what it did to the NFL, and I saw just how it is such a It's such an integral part of what goes on during every game that we're almost losing a piece of the game because of it on.
00:12:27
We're losing time, games, air longer because taking these guys you know, they used to go under the hood.
00:12:33
Now it's somebody up in the booth.
00:12:35
Then they have to hear it from New York.
00:12:36
And it's just just just so many moving pieces to where Why can't you just look at it, how we're all watching a replay on TV? Everybody in the stadiums, watching it on the trends wrong.
00:12:49
And yet we need 15 minutes to get this call.
00:12:55
Not a wrecked.
00:12:56
Yeah, but the rest of us are looking at it going.
00:12:59
Oh, yeah, It's definitely passing your friends.
00:13:01
There was no pass interference on the play like you like.
00:13:04
What do you do? What? It just e or what did you miss that I saw? Because I saw what? You didn't see it.
00:13:12
So I mean, you know, and everything is up to interpretation, and I understand that, too.
00:13:17
But at the end of the day, when you take away the human element and you were talking about baseball, I know how much you love baseball.
00:13:23
Probably where I do If they take away the empire, it is really going to chap my heart.
00:13:29
Yeah.
00:13:30
Yeah, that's a human element in the game right there.
00:13:31
Just so used to seeing those guys.
00:13:32
The blue shirts stand out there on the field.
00:13:34
I remember for myself I'm firing the league baseball and stuff like that.
00:13:38
You had to make critical calls, stuff like that.
00:13:40
And it was one of those things where again you use the human l of the game, your body mechanics, body language, your eyes, what you see on the field or, you know, sometimes is a baseball coach that got I could forecast things coming before they happen.
00:13:51
That was one of the things.
00:13:52
As a manager, you would sit there is a head coach and talk about OK, you know, guys holding his hands a certain way or he's in the stretch.
00:13:58
Or he's in full wind up or the first baseman cheating in a little bit.
00:14:01
Okay, look across the dugout and watch the coach, you know, make a move to move the outfielders in some type of shift if you're gonna do that, too, at the same time.
00:14:07
So I'm always looking and little things to taken advantage over my opponent.
00:14:11
You know, no pun intended video actually cheating when that happens, right? My thing is, you know, my you know, it's one of those things, too.
00:14:17
Where you just so and like you said with the TV contracts now, everybody just so used to seeing empire behind home plate, you know, just dealing down in the crowd should get ready call balls and strikes.
00:14:26
And, like I said, make critical calls.
00:14:28
The plate, and I think you also to man.
00:14:30
It gets the fans on the edge of their seat at a ball game.
00:14:33
You know, when the umpires get ready to make close call, it's a bang bang play.
00:14:37
You know, they say in right field and nail the guy. Third.
00:14:40
Hit the cut off, man.
00:14:41
He gonna right through the cut off man and get a one hopper doing.
00:14:44
Put the tag on you just so used to seeing, you know, pump his arms.
00:14:46
So it's It's a great element for the game.
00:14:49
It's it's kind of one of those things where it's Ah, I think it's a beauty part anaesthetic, part of the game that look forward to.
00:14:55
And so I look at it is as honestly, I I don't know where they're going to go with this.
00:14:59
And honestly, we still don't know if we're gonna have baseball this year.
00:15:02
Not Look, I love them like you have seen highlights in the K b O.
00:15:05
But again, the Kubo is no MLB, right? I completely agree.
00:15:09
It's hard to get into it, man.
00:15:11
It really I ride, you know, and I'm trying just for the sake of the boys because I know that they like baseball.
00:15:19
And I know they miss as much as I do.
00:15:21
And it just gets to a point where, you know, especially when you don't know who these guys are.
00:15:27
I think that kind of takes away from it, You know, to me like, you sit there and you go, uh, you know, I don't know if I'm gonna bother sitting here watching these guys, but I'm watching it because I miss it.
00:15:40
And, you know, I need something.
00:15:43
I just don't like UFC.
00:15:46
My wife likes UFC shoes of it, but we sat, We watched all of that UFC fight night, like all of it, Like all 12 frickin matches.
00:15:57
And, you know, thank God she's got books and her phone stuff like that.
00:16:03
You should be sad.
00:16:04
Then she looked at me, and I said, Don't even, uh okay.
00:16:08
And she she picked up her books, started reading, and you know, then when good matches came on, you know, she put her book down and she was because she does like UFC.
00:16:16
But, you know, she don't want to sit there, watch 12 matches with me.
00:16:20
I was not turning that off the minute it came on.
00:16:23
And, like, don't even touch the remote unless you want to lose a finger.
00:16:29
I remember telling you, just don't touch the remote in this.
00:16:32
You know you want some digits missing.
00:16:34
But you know, the baby is not, you know, is not really what we, you know, expect.
00:16:41
But at least it's something.
00:16:43
So I think we're gonna get it back.
00:16:45
I think it's a matter of time here.
00:16:46
We keep harping on it, saying the same thing inspectors and get all the one room and that's, you know, blank or get off the pot.
00:16:51
You know, the bottom line is, it's time to make this happen.
00:16:53
It's time.
00:16:54
Make it happen for fans.
00:16:55
Here we are.
00:16:56
Memorial Day May is flown by Jews Gonna do the same every time we get there.
00:16:59
You don't need some 2 to 3 week warm up at your home ballpark or at the spring Training complex is in their respective spring training host cities.
00:17:06
So my thing is, we're gonna play ball somewhere in home stating we're gonna play division versus division.
00:17:11
You know, Ailes West NL West travel and not not have to wear out to the team and stuff like that on private Jets and private charters to go play, you know, Houston playing Los Angeles, Los Angeles, coming to Houston or something like that.
00:17:22
So we got to play a little bit of that, you know, like you said, National League, West American League West.
00:17:26
And maybe that does happen for us, too, because we can actually get a few games out there.
00:17:30
Maybe the Astros playing the Dodgers a good idea, playing the Angels, playing the Oakland A's something like that.
00:17:34
I have to come back to Houston, but you're not going to see, you know, a low West playing National League Central and stuff like that.
00:17:40
So I don't know.
00:17:41
It's a matter.
00:17:42
I'm ready.
00:17:43
Just talk game strategy with you.
00:17:44
I'm ready to talk about you.
00:17:45
Like I said, the pictures coming in making this or the manager's doing something we're supposed to do.
00:17:48
I think it's Ah, we're always reaching for some things to kind of jump on, and I think it's it's it's nice to Did you even talk about spring training guys back in camp Green Bay? You know, playing games against I'm with you.
00:17:59
My, my escape is like W e the wrestling so that that was hard for me, Dio and and I'm a kid that grew up on that stuff.
00:18:08
That that one's heart with no fans there, that was really hard for me, that the bang in and you know, everything echoes there in this, you know, they're in one of those old W W e many arenas, and I'm so sorry.
00:18:21
It's just I I tried, man, because the kids like wrestling, too.
00:18:26
And, you know, Dude, I found myself watching 30 minutes of a Bundesliga friggin soccer game the other day.
00:18:33
I was just like, Okay, Mike's watching German Bundesliga.
00:18:39
Yeah, all back quick, like in a hurry.
00:18:42
But anyway, alright, show sports guy Mike Show.
00:18:44
We're going to take a quick break pace of bills when we come back. Devante Freeman.
00:18:48
We talked about him the other day, but your boy Carlos Hyde, could he be on the move? Ah, as well.
00:18:55
That came across my desk the other day as well as now.
00:19:00
You know, everybody's got their own thing that they want to say, and that's fine.
00:19:04
And Aaron Donald has his two cents.
00:19:07
Um, he doesn't think that he would want to play without the fans.
00:19:10
He doesn't think it will be as fun.
00:19:12
And of course, we're going to do our top running backs of all time.
00:19:16
We're gonna give you our list coming up.

00:24:26
Some kids, right? A couple.
00:24:28
Five a schools.
00:24:29
Six. A school I was at his years ago.
00:24:31
Some like Let's go, Let's play you, man.
00:24:34
It's I know it's starting to work on yourself. I'm going.
00:24:38
Here is a little bit of information we talked about yesterday about Devante Freeman going to Seattle.
00:24:44
Well, it's it's it's all but inked, so but it is gonna happen, and Seattle was looking for a veteran running back, and I'm I guess they're not quite sure what's going on with Marshawn Lynch.
00:24:57
yet I do know that earlier this month that his agent had been in contact with the team about a potential return.
00:25:05
But the 28 year old Freeman was a free agent.
00:25:08
Falcons dropped him.
00:25:10
Seattle wants him.
00:25:11
They picked him up.
00:25:12
But that's not the story.
00:25:13
This story is now.
00:25:14
Carlos Hyde, who's coming up 1000 and 70 yard season with your Texans, carry 245 times, also a career high, and scored six touchdowns in his lone season with Houston.
00:25:29
So NFL Network first reported about the talks between Saddle and Carlos.
00:25:37
Is that something that you could see happening? And why doesn't Houston want to retain them? I think if you're Bill O Brien and you're trying to put all the right pieces of a puzzle together and push all the right buttons a head coach now and general manager, I think you know why not? I think you could be pretty much dumbfounded if you don't bring back a guy that was pretty much one of your entire offense.
00:25:58
You mentioned over 1000 yards and a guy that should have got the rock more in critical goal line situations and so I think that he's gonna end up somewhere.
00:26:05
Here's a guy that we talked about this yesterday.
00:26:07
Look, Vontae Freeman, to me is 1/3 down, back or back to come in and just place specific packages on specific downs.
00:26:16
I think height is a guy kind of like, you know, look at the at the San Francisco situation.
00:26:21
They already tied down with somebody running backs out there with Tevin Coleman that breed up and those guys were he, Mostert and those guys and Jerick McKinnon.
00:26:28
I think what you could see is high could still be a starter.
00:26:32
On the flip side, I don't see Freeman being that guy.
00:26:34
Now if they see something else like you said, medical reports come back all the time.
00:26:37
Or maybe be smoke doesn't want to play and get back, and I still think he's gonna come back to stay away from the game.
00:26:42
It's not about money for him, it's about the passion that's about padding his stats.
00:26:46
But for me, like we talked about this yesterday, DeVante is about 28 yards shy.
00:26:50
4001st career.
00:26:51
He's not gonna be a whole fame running back.
00:26:53
He's gonna be a nice running back that fits Pete Carroll system, and that's in that situation.
00:26:57
But I think if you're a GM right now and you're out trying to put together your 53 man roster pending, we have a season coming up for a training camp.
00:27:04
You're looking at a guy like Carlos Side to be an impact back and a starter wherever he goes for your team.
00:27:10
Look, I I honestly think that Carlos High to be a better fit in in there than wanting Freeman agreed.
00:27:17
Agree? I mean, you know, just saying.
00:27:20
But I'm not sold on David Johnson.
00:27:21
I really have car your car.
00:27:25
This is a guy.
00:27:26
The wind blows too hard.
00:27:27
He's gonna get injured and an Audi goes.
00:27:30
I mean, it seems to be his M o.
00:27:32
In the last four years of his career, three years of his career.
00:27:35
I mean, they've got $5 million to take a flyer on high for one year deal.
00:27:38
They've got a $5 million study, but that's just that's teams have money.
00:27:42
Then I go fool us when it comes down to it.
00:27:43
Look, you're about to faith.
00:27:44
Did Shaun amongst the top quarterbacks in the league right now at 30 to 35 annually, right? Put him up there with Kirk Cousins and give him Drew Brees and Tom Brady type money.
00:27:53
So my thing is, is, and then here's the thing I look at it to me to.
00:27:57
Sean is better than Jared golf if you go sit there and pay quarterbacks all that money.
00:28:00
But yet Carson Wentz and Jared Goff get a contract into Sean can't.
00:28:04
So you're holding on.
00:28:05
To what? What do you do with the money? So, you know, as important as he was coming over in just that barely off season trade from from Kansas City last year.
00:28:12
And we knew we needed a running back high.
00:28:14
It was a critical part of getting us to the postseason, and like I said, it's hard to replace 1000 yards on the ground.
00:28:20
It is, man.
00:28:21
I mean, you know, I talk about all time running backs are easily replaceable in this day, and age may not have been the case 10 15 years ago.
00:28:29
It is the case now.
00:28:30
They're everywhere, and you can find a guy to replace a guy just to give you an idea of the rest of the Seahawks backfield consists of second year pro Travis Homer and three rookies.
00:28:41
Deejay Dallas, they think, picked up in the fourth round, Anthony Jones and Patrick Car that they also picked up.
00:28:49
So I mean, they have their work cut out for them.
00:28:52
They got guys that will be in the backfield that they can, you know? Either take some of these young, this young talent and work with it, or keep going after this veteran town now.
00:29:03
GM John Schneider told K Jr AM in Seattle early this month that Carson that in hip injury is expected to be ready by week rum.
00:29:12
But pennies recovery from reconstructive knee surgery, which is never easy to do, might sideline him beyond them.
00:29:20
Panic towards a seond suffered additional damage to the ME and Week 14 last season.
00:29:26
So you know there are some uncer*****ies there, especially with Penny, so you don't understand what they're doing, what they're trying to do in Seattle.
00:29:35
But it's just, in fact, they have almost in over.
00:29:37
A abundance of running backs is never a bad thing because running backs go down, man.
00:29:42
It just is what it is.
00:29:43
But I think you know Carlos Hyde.
00:29:45
In my opinion, if I had to choose between Himmler, Devante Freeman and I liked Avante, I probably go with Carlos.
00:29:52
But having the two of them and what they're going to do, you know, with some of these newcomers that they have.
00:29:58
Man, Seattle's got their work cut out for yeah, and again, the way Love, a head coach who loves to show passion, energy on the sidelines and a guy that when something goes awry, it he's gonna wear his emotions on his sleeve.
00:30:08
Talking about Pete Carroll, John Snyder.
00:30:10
Him worked very well together in Seattle.
00:30:12
They built this thing from the ground up through the drafts and acquiring just good free agent talent.
00:30:17
When it comes down to it over the years, you know, signing Russell to the big deal, of course, having a lot of confidence to give him the football week in and week out.
00:30:23
So I think it's just a matter of knowing what they want to use that type of offense.
00:30:27
They're going to run the type of players that fit their system.
00:30:29
And if you're Devonta Freeman fame like I am too, at the same time.
00:30:32
I think this guy can step in to really do some things, not necessarily from a starter standpoint, but I think they're also looking at it.
00:30:37
Like you said.
00:30:38
From the injury standpoint, with Chris Carson shot Penny looking at medical reviews and stuff like that, who can play, who can line up? And I think it's Ah, and again, you know, here's the playbook. Go study it.
00:30:48
Get out there the football field and show me what you can still do it.
00:30:50
There's something left in the tank.
00:30:51
We're gonna find out like you said it. $4 million.
00:30:54
That's a bargain for John Schneider.
00:30:55
Pete Carroll. Oh, absolutely.
00:30:57
Um, speaking of getting out there and playing the game as the NFL in other sports, six.
00:31:02
Weigh options to safely return to action and make this pandemic.
00:31:07
L.
00:31:08
A.
00:31:09
Rams defensive tackle Aaron Donald said It is not a fan.
00:31:12
He's not a fan of playing without fans.
00:31:15
His quote was, You need fans to play a game.
00:31:18
I don't see how you could play a game without no fans.
00:31:22
I feel like that takes out the excitement and the fun of the game.
00:31:26
I feel like the fans is what pick you up the fans is what makes the game exciting.
00:31:32
The fans will give you that extra juice when you're tired and fatigued when you make that big play.
00:31:40
And here 80,000 fans go crazy.
00:31:43
That pumps you up.
00:31:45
Now look, I understand where he's coming from.
00:31:47
Just I get it.
00:31:49
It's just like when you're sitting at the house or at the bar.
00:31:52
Whatever watching Excuse me, watching the game and hearing all of that noise to it is impactful.
00:31:59
You know what I mean? It's part of my betting strategy.
00:32:04
How how those stadiums are, how well those fans interact with what's going on to the game.
00:32:13
Pittsburgh Unfortunately, I love my fellow Steeler fan.
00:32:17
You want to talk about some of the hottest and coldest with like in a die type of fans? Is Pittsburgh.
00:32:25
I can never give Pittsburgh points in their home state.
00:32:28
Just it doesn't work there, but it doesn't Seattle.
00:32:32
It doesn't Kansas City or before Patrick Mahomes got there.
00:32:36
Um, so I mean, those who think that you used so I understand where it's coming from in that aspect of, you know, he kind of thrived on it, but I mean, some of these guys Good.
00:32:48
I have to come to the realization of you're probably gonna play the first few weeks of the season.
00:32:55
In my opinion, first few weeks, you might not have fans.
00:33:00
Now, there may be some miraculous A you know, Hurvitz flattened.
00:33:06
We have a vaccine.
00:33:07
People are gonna be cool. Let's go.
00:33:10
But I don't know, man could be a few weeks into the NFL season where we might not even have any fans.
00:33:18
And that's the problem is we don't know right now.
00:33:20
That's uncertain as it is right now.
00:33:21
We take this thing one day at a time.
00:33:23
You know, we talked about here on the show a lot, too.
00:33:25
There's still nothing out there proven.
00:33:27
And Dr Faust is still saying we could have another second round of this thing or another explosion.
00:33:31
God forbid we do.
00:33:32
But I mean, the safety of the fans and the players and their families and things like that are most important over just a game, even though we do want sports to return in the utmost way.
00:33:41
So I think it's ah, you know, again, not that they will.
00:33:44
They don't know anything right now.
00:33:45
They being the front office personnel, the players, the coaches, you know, the owners of these teams, you know, they're trying to work these things out, and we keep waiting for an answer for this to happen.
00:33:54
Bound with you on this.
00:33:55
We talked about yesterday in Ohio State.
00:33:57
In college football is looking to play with 20 to 50,000 there at the Horseshoe.
00:34:01
Alright from the NFL.
00:34:02
Must have an idea or seeing that report to say, Look, we're gonna change our plans the way we look at things and there that had Aaron Donald trying to make that kind of comment.
00:34:11
Well, my thing is, look, you're under contract.
00:34:14
You're gonna have to go out there and play regardless of fans or not.
00:34:17
So it's It's one of those things.
00:34:18
You still want to earn your money, you know, hold out or get fined by the team and just give it right back to him.
00:34:24
You wanna go out there and play Every down is the top defensive tackle we know you are.
00:34:27
That came out of Pittsburgh and dominated in college was all American and give Shaun Deeb a something to work with on defensive side and elevates rams back to the top in the NFC West.
00:34:37
So I'm with you on Gostin.
00:34:38
You always talking a man.
00:34:40
When it's time to turn it on and play, you're gonna play.
00:34:42
You're gonna get fined by the respective organizations you work for.
00:34:46
Yeah, I mean, you know, and that's the thing.
00:34:48
It's like again, I understand where he's coming from, but the reality is the reality.
00:34:53
It it's not like Aaron Don's gonna go.
00:34:56
Wow.
00:34:57
You know, maybe I won't play since there's no fans.
00:34:59
No, You're gonna play.
00:35:00
You play.
00:35:01
You're gonna collect your game check like you like you know you want to.
00:35:05
Yeah, you know what I mean? Don't Don't even try that nonsense.
00:35:09
You know you're gonna play make something 1,000,000 a year for him.
00:35:12
Average annual value looking.
00:35:14
I mean now, are you now, as if you were a player in the NFL, would you make a comment like that? Honestly, you know, I'm always look e from a standpoint of maybe he was trying to reach out to the phantom and say, Hey, you know, it's just not the same without you guys.
00:35:33
Maybe that was his angle.
00:35:35
I'm always They always use that thing. Think before you speak.
00:35:38
I'm always, like, even on our show here.
00:35:40
And like I said, outside of other shows, I put on my broadcast.
00:35:43
I think before I speak and I always say to myself, Man, you know, look, what what comes out of your mouth to come back to bite you? And I'm just It's like one of those things.
00:35:50
I've been kicked in the teeth many times, so you know, the spur of the moment.
00:35:54
That's kind of what this felt like, You know, for him is I got to get something out in the press.
00:35:58
I gotta put something together or reporter approached him about this particular kind of very, very touchy subject right now.
00:36:04
So again, I don't you know, it's it's hard to make a comment, so that should got make a comment based on what I think or my opinion, that kind of thing.
00:36:11
I think they're just they're, but they're hoping we have a vaccine.
00:36:15
Deep down, he wants fans back there because it's your right. It's not same.
00:36:18
You're sitting in a bar.
00:36:19
If you're gambling, if you're playing poker, whatever you're doing, on a Sunday to watch the NFL.
00:36:23
The norm is to have fans.
00:36:24
You now have 50 60 70,000 you know, sitting NFL Stadium sway a game called a certain way.
00:36:30
You know, Like I said, you know, the big time we're talking about the dog pound making noise or, you know, people wearing cheeseheads and Green Bay at Lambeau.
00:36:37
Toughest things to walk into and play on the frozen tundra of Lambeau Field Young in November December games account.
00:36:43
So there's much of party.
00:36:44
Is this anybody that responsible playing player salaries to when it comes down to and buying those expensive tickets? And you know, it's it's hard bringing a family for now to an NFL game much less than it will be or are basketball game.
00:36:55
So it's I mean, I hope we see fans back.
00:36:58
I keep rooting for this every day for the front line workers.
00:37:01
They're putting their lives on the line, these doctors and everybody out there to come up with a vaccine and working hard on it, trying to get something done.
00:37:07
So I hope to see fans back and fit this fall because, honestly, just like Major league baseball, it's gonna be hard watching that on TV without fans in the stands.
00:37:15
Sure, all right, let me take you into the realm of sports pop culture for a moment.
00:37:21
So Tam Z reported a couple different things and I love going on TMZ sports because there's opens some interesting crap on there.
00:37:29
So apparently TMZ was talking to Mike Tyson, and I guess some other people have been talking to Mike Tyson.
00:37:37
And he says that Ah, Holyfield rematch for charity would be awesome.
00:37:43
Now, if you haven't seen any of these videos, that happened.
00:37:46
Some videos that have surfaced of Mike Tyson working out, and then they show him without his shirt on.
00:37:52
Look me and micro kind of close in age.
00:37:56
This brother looks like he could work by the people.
00:38:00
But right now, would you Would you watch Tyson Holyfield for charity? I mean, why not? What we got to watch right now? Nothing.
00:38:10
I like.
00:38:11
It wasn't We're talking about the same stuff. You know everything.
00:38:14
Today. I'm ready.
00:38:15
Talk ball with you, do something boxing.
00:38:17
I mean, even, like I said, can coming together with some fantasy matchup on some video game or this coming Sunday with right? Like you said, the fantasy four golf match up.
00:38:26
We're going to see what Tom Brady and Tiger Woods and Phil ****elson and those guys, you know, playing this look off 17 around or 18 hole tournament.
00:38:33
They're gonna play coming up. Think it's TNT.
00:38:35
That's something.
00:38:36
Give me something to put on TV.
00:38:37
I look, I'm a boxing fan have been since the nineties when those guys first came out.
00:38:41
I mean, like I said, you know, Tyson dominated the sport when he was in there.
00:38:45
Buster Douglas, one. My favorites.
00:38:47
That goes back to one of the famous fights.
00:38:48
It was there, too, as well.
00:38:49
So I mean, until to me and I say this lightheartedly, boxing was a rigged to it.
00:38:54
It's It's Ah, yeah, Give me something to watch and give me something to have on TV to drink a beer and sit back and be the back of chips or something.
00:39:01
Come on, I know what I am.
00:39:04
I buy it.
00:39:05
I am a box.
00:39:06
I watch UFC and Emma because boxing isn't what it used to be.
00:39:11
I grew up on boxing eighties.
00:39:13
Sugar Ray Leonard was my favorite fighter back in the day.
00:39:16
Tommy Hearns.
00:39:17
Marvin Hagler.
00:39:18
You know Larry Holmes, guys like at Tyson? Of course.
00:39:22
Obviously, you know, came a little bit later on.
00:39:24
But, I mean, you know, to me, you know, as much as it would pay me to watch two old guys box right now, dude uptown man, I will.
00:39:33
Because I love boxing way more than I love. Mm.
00:39:37
A, um but you know, to see Tyson again, kind of chip around in the ring with, you know, with the Vander. Amen.
00:39:45
I at this point, I'm waiting for the celebrity boxing stuff to come out because there's been worried about that resurfacing and making a comeback.
00:39:55
Dude, I'll take that right now.
00:39:57
I would love to see Danny Bonaduce's to get in the ring again.
00:40:00
I would. I'll dio.
00:40:02
I'll sit out, pay $40 in the paper view.
00:40:06
Celebrities knock each other's blocks off.
00:40:08
Not a problem.
00:40:10
I will freaking do it all right.
00:40:12
Real quick before we take a quick break.
00:40:15
We talked about it on this program, the whole all in for the charity and all that grates that look.
00:40:22
It's all well and good, but this is insane.
00:40:24
When I said on this very show that it's just not something that Brandon myself the average Joe can get involved in.
00:40:32
This is obviously for people with deep pockets to help this charity.
00:40:36
Because Robert Kraft Super Bowl ring have already sold from more than a $1,000,000 for charity.
00:40:44
A 1,000,000 freaking dollars now don't get me wrong.
00:40:48
These rings are au****ious.
00:40:50
They're disgusting.
00:40:51
They're too big.
00:40:52
I mean, the guys that wear them.
00:40:55
You look ridiculous when you're wearing them, but you look at this thing and you go, Wow.
00:40:59
Somebody paid one million and $25,000 to be exact for frickin Robert Kraft owner ring, and it's got his name on it.
00:41:10
It says Owner, the whole nine yards.
00:41:13
What do you think about that? Hey, like I said, we know they're valued it.
00:41:16
Like I said on the standard situation there, I've seen him before.
00:41:19
We've seen the rain cases in Houston for the NFL experience that George R.
00:41:23
Brown Super Bowl came here with the Falcons and Patriots just a few years ago here in Houston, and I got a chance to go down there and kind of just enjoy the whole NFL experience George R.
00:41:32
Brown Blue.
00:41:33
Not after seeing the soft help years ago At what, 75 thousands, but one of yeah, you know, Tiffany Makesem and in conjunction with shop.
00:41:43
But I mean a 1,000,000.
00:41:44
But, hey, I'm glad that, you know, that much money was raised, you know, to help people out with Corona virus and all that.
00:41:50
Good step.
00:41:51
But, man, that's just crazy, All right? Drew Peterson is eyeing the top starting spot for the Redskins, and we'll talk about that.
00:41:59

00:46:47
Instagram.
00:46:48
And, of course, Twitter conversation today has been loosely based around running backs today.
00:46:54
So we're gonna talk.
00:46:56
We're going to give you some of our favorite quarterback running backs of all time.
00:46:59
But speaking of guys that might be on its list is not on my top 10 but he might be in with some people's top 10.
00:47:07
Agent Peterson and Russian Redskins added more talent to their running back room as well as the Seattle Seahawks during this offseason.
00:47:17
Now that my impact Adrian Peterson's future, but it won't alter one's approach.
00:47:22
Apparently, John came over ESPN reported that he'll try to win the job and dispense knowledge along the way.
00:47:30
Continuing in a mentor role, he said, Quote, I've always had the mindset of being open to competition, so I will embrace it the same way people ask me that question all the time, man.
00:47:42
The Redskins Air Really tracking that running back room, huh? I'm like, Yeah, they are.
00:47:46
But hey, just gotta execute and produce Now that's what you want to hear from a veteran.
00:47:55
That's just a veteran, but a guy that really wants that starting job now.
00:48:00
The Redskins did sign free agent running backs Peyton Barber and J. D.
00:48:04
McKissick.
00:48:05
They also drafted Antonio Gibson in the third round.
00:48:09
Darius guys, of course, and Bright Love Boat are whom are coming off of knee injuries also remain on the roster and can help on every down.
00:48:19
Is Adrian Peterson still? I mean, we already know that is a freakin nature.
00:48:24
When he came back from his own injury when they were like Now, man, you're probably not gonna play this year, and that fool came back and played and had one of the seasons of his career.
00:48:35
Is Adrian Peterson still in the shape that we that he thinks he is to make a run at this starting role in Washington? Well, I think so.
00:48:45
I think you gotta look at a guy who takes very good care of his body and a lot of pro athletes do.
00:48:50
But I'll say this, you know, watching this guy come from Texas high school ranks and getting into Oklahoma and doing the things that he did on the football field for many, many years in college and getting to the Minnesota Vikings and having just 1000 yard season, that 1000 yard season finding the end zone double digit times.
00:49:05
There's not a guy who threw workout videos I've seen through conversations I've had with other high school coaches around Texas.
00:49:11
It takes more good care of his body than AP, and I think a P is a guy that knows himself better.
00:49:17
He would step into any NFL team right now, any of the 32 teams and make a team that much better embracing any role that a coach gives him and look, they they were, they know right now.
00:49:28
Last year they focused a lot of that draft on the defensive side of the ball and getting chase young from Ohio State.
00:49:34
So pass Rush has to get better.
00:49:36
They were, like, 26 or 27 stopping the run last year.
00:49:40
Whole new coaching staff.
00:49:41
And look, I think if you're Iran Rivera, you're a guy right now. It's going again.
00:49:45
Put him in the best situation to succeed.
00:49:47
Look to me, they gotta figure out more of a problem.
00:49:50
Is Dwayne Haskins the guy? Are they gonna take a flyer on maybe a Cam Newton or somebody like that to is well out there from another quarterback situation? They gotta figure it out.
00:49:58
So I'm with you.
00:50:00
Yes.
00:50:01
Can he still play the top level? Even though Father Time is catching up with him? I think so.
00:50:05
But to meet various guises.
00:50:06
Still, the guy to handle the rock on that roster did it for the last three years and then for a little bit of running game that they did have eso I'm with you. I think it's a good situation.
00:50:15
I think you know you'll get along with Ron Rivera very well.
00:50:18
And look, Ron Rivera, just a head coach is gonna get them at least two more wins and handle last year, so I always thought, highly of rotting back in Carolina Super Bowl, that he played with Cam.
00:50:28
So I'm with you on on AP.
00:50:31
Like I said, I think he's a starter.
00:50:32
Absolutely not.
00:50:33
But I think you'll make him like players around him a lot better.
00:50:36
And players will learn from him to to kind of lengthen their careers, a great role model for the Redskins.
00:50:41
This is a guy that has to, um, that has 106 rushing touchdowns he's got.
00:50:48
He's played in over 149 games and he's got over 13,000 career yards.
00:50:55
This guy's definitely going into the Hall of Fame.
00:50:57
Whether or not it's a first ballot or not, who knows? But, you know, this is the guy you know at his age.
00:51:03
I honestly think that there's you made some great points.
00:51:07
They definitely need to shore up that line.
00:51:09
And again, you got to figure out what's going on with that quarterback situation.
00:51:13
Are they gonna put is running very gonna go? Hey, Haskins is my guy because I'll be honest with you.
00:51:19
I'm not getting a feeling from at all about either.
00:51:22
Oh, I mean, I don't know if that's gonna happen, but we'll see.
00:51:26
So anyway, so, Tom, quarterbacks of all time And before we get to that, I have to say this because I looked this up this morning because I thought I named all of them and I I missed one.
00:51:40
And it's only because he was listed as a full back.
00:51:43
Now, as far as how many Super Bowl M V P running backs are, this list is very, very short.
00:51:52
And when I say very, I mean it is very short.
00:51:55
So I missed Larry's delicate my 1st 1 Of course, I thought first running back is technically fullback running back.
00:52:03
You know you can call in the same.
00:52:05
You can split him whatever you want, but Larry Zanca actually one for Super Bowl eight, uh, in Miami.
00:52:13
Obviously, Zonk was a fullback, not a running back, but then Franco Harris, one that following year for Pittsburgh, adds technically the first running back toe ever win.
00:52:24
Thean BP for Super Bowl.
00:52:26
Marcus Allen is another one.
00:52:29
When he played for the L A Raiders, um, we won the M v p and then you had this one.
00:52:36
I almost forgot about this one.
00:52:37
Not to scratch my spread to my temporal lobe to remember their O J.
00:52:42
Otis Anderson Harding, back for the New York Giants Also won m v d.
00:52:47
And of course, we remember Emmitt Smith running the last running back to win the M v P in a.
00:52:54
Okay, Can you remember who it is? Oh, man, I'm trying to the last one there.
00:53:00
Uh, man Walter Payton.
00:53:03
No, there hasn't been one since Rehl Davis, who won for Denver and both 32.
00:53:11
So it was actually the last running back to ever win a Super Bowl M v p.
00:53:17
So again, Like I said, that list is super short.
00:53:20
So give you our top 10.
00:53:23
I'll go, then you go and we'll go from normal.
00:53:26
See? Ah, how we are on this one first and foremost in no particular order.
00:53:31
But I have to say I'm first on Lee because I still to this day will always think of him as the greatest running back, even though he wasn't during my time.
00:53:42
But Jim Brown to me at 12,000 yards, 118 games back then, 106 touchdowns. This.
00:53:51
I mean, this guy, I've been had 20 receiving touch, and this was before the running back out of the backfield, catching the football.
00:53:58
But he was such a big utility player and such a big, ominous target.
00:54:05
You couldn't help but throat, you know? I mean, you know, the fact that he was put into a scheme where they were like All right, Jim, you're gonna go run a quick slant route and chuck you the ball in the end zone.
00:54:16
Who's gonna defend them? It was stroke big.
00:54:19
Didn't mean so to me.
00:54:22
The first person that pops into my head as one of the best running backs about gotta be Jim Brown.
00:54:27
Who you got, I'm gonna say, for me, it was the sweetness of self Walter Payton.
00:54:31
You want an M V P in 1977 over 1800 yards rushing and 14 touchdowns.
00:54:36
A guy that made plays in the backfield in the passing game two at the same time.
00:54:40
Sweetness to me is number one on my list.
00:54:42
Look, I watched the Cowboys dominating 90 so definitely, you know, we're gonna talk about am it being on there somewhere to his building.
00:54:47
It feels all time career leading rusher at the same time for him it.
00:54:50
But man sweetness just made games that much fun to watch me get.
00:54:54
It was fun to watch on the sidelines.
00:54:56
You know that that Bears team of the eighties was one of the best there to is.
00:54:59
Well, we know that. So I'm with you.
00:55:01
Like I said, you want in a VP rushing titles.
00:55:04
That's why the tribute question the answer came to mind there, too, as well, for I mean 1800 yards you Don't you see that in today's game? I know much less with running backs, being still an integral part of trying to run the football in the NFL.
00:55:15
So I'm sure you with me when I say Walter Payton is one of the greatest of all time, the first jersey I ever bought with my own money, and I brought it home and my mother was blown away.
00:55:25
That it wasn't a Steelers jersey was a night Walter Payton jersey because he was my favorite player outside of the realm of Pittsburgh.
00:55:34
When I was 10 years old, I met nine Steelers Adam Opel and I was a fan.
00:55:39
I was hooked but water, but I was a football.
00:55:41
I was a kid that loved football, loved watching it.
00:55:44
Walter was definitely.
00:55:46
It's definitely on my list.
00:55:48
He's probably my number two.
00:55:49
To be honest with you, Um, I'm not gonna get into em it.
00:55:53
There's a couple things that bother me about Emmett.
00:55:56
It's a personal thing.
00:55:58
Yeah, he's on the list in top 10 but I will tell you he's really low on that list girls from 8355 yards that There's just a lot to it, and we don't have the time to talk about it right now, But I won't say this.
00:56:13
Another guy that is on my list is Eric ****erson.
00:56:16
Yeah.
00:56:17
146 games, 13,000 yard, 13,000 yards, 90 rushing touchdowns.
00:56:23
This is a guy that at the time, um, in his rookie season, rushed for 1800 yards in 18 touchdowns in a single flipping seasoning, and at the time it was just, you know he was.
00:56:37
First of all, that was unheard of to Dio for running back.
00:56:41
He was he kind of changed the game, you know, with his style of running.
00:56:46
Look, I enjoyed watching him as a kid, and I watched tape now is an adult, and it just imposed me away the way he ran.
00:56:54
So e.
00:56:55
D.
00:56:56
Is no.
00:56:57
My list as well go back to the nineties 1997 m v p.
00:57:00
Of Barry Sanders and the bottom line is, And to do that to for me up there, I mean, nine times 1300 yards or more for nine times in your career.
00:57:09
And during that 97 m V P season, you rest for over 2000.
00:57:12
I mean, that's that's something you don't see backs even coming close, much less to 1200 or 1500 today.
00:57:16
So Barry Sanders on my list last time he led to the Lions to playoffs, I believe, five times in his career, so they haven't sniffed that even been close, you know, much less to watch those, you know, **** poor Thanksgiving Day games that they even have it Ford Field now, So it's it's Look, it's ah, he's still around the organization, one of the greatest ambassadors for the game ever.
00:57:34
So Barry Sanders rates right up there for me a guy that I grew up watching Franco Harris for me.
00:57:41
And here's the thing.
00:57:42
Franco's 15th on this list with 12,000 yards where its drone Pettus is actually eight on this list.
00:57:50
So I'm going to take this one, and I'm gonna shove two guys together of Franco and Jerome together as my as kind of those two guys that were such a integral part of the Pittsburgh Steelers offense invoked their perspective respective times.
00:58:09
And no one's eight once, 15 on the slip, you know, on the old time leaders.
00:58:14
So I'm gonna I'm gonna take J B, and I'm gonna take Franco.
00:58:18
Okay, I'm gonna go back with this one.
00:58:20
I love this when he does great work on NFL Network and almost 1,212,000 yards in his career over 12,000 yards.
00:58:27
But I love Marshall Faulk.
00:58:28
I think Marshall Faulk was a game changer, a guy that I watched in college for many many years.
00:58:33
San Diego State dominate to there on the West Coast and get to the Rams.
00:58:37
Finally win the Super Bowl.
00:58:38
And you know, Kurt Warner, the great great team for the nineties there the greatest show on turf that they were.
00:58:43
It was a fun, fun team to watch. Isaac Bruce.
00:58:46
I mean, the guys go on and on with names and names after names, solid offensive line, great head coaches to at the same time.
00:58:52
So for me, Marshall Faulk goes in.
00:58:54
No particular order is up there, too, in my tops here, O. J. Simpson.
00:58:58
I'm sorry for people that, you know, just hate the chi and grown up is a kid watching him jumping over seats in the airport for the Hertz commercials watching him play and Buffalo was, you know, it was part of my growing up.
00:59:14
I mean, it was that the end is career when I saw him, Really? But you can't take away the fact that the guy played in 135 135 games.
00:59:25
He had over 10,000.
00:59:26
So at 11,000 yards, so he's in that 10,000 group yet 61 rushing touchdowns, 14 receiving touchdowns.
00:59:35
But he completely.
00:59:36
Here's another one that, you know, this was a black running back, that people were just kind of like, you know, here's another one that changed that completely changed the game, put it on its ear.
00:59:47
Here's a guy also that was able to make that crossover with white folks with Blackfoot.
00:59:54
Was that guy that was liked by all.
00:59:57
Everybody look o j.
00:59:58
He was the guy that they could, actually, but a brand on and run with It hurts and kinds of other things that he did.
01:00:06
His wife did like car wax and heated all these different endor*****ts.
01:00:11
He was really one of the first NFL players that had heavy, heavy endor*****ts that they knew they could.
01:00:18
You know, he was a great pitch man.
01:00:20
It was like shack.
01:00:21
It didn't matter what you gave him.
01:00:22
He completed and people would buy it.
01:00:24
Just O.
01:00:25
J said he liked it so heavily.
01:00:29
Okay, so give me the last time.
01:00:31
So last one for May.
01:00:32
Go back to 1977.
01:00:34
Special year for running backs, offensive rookie of the year, nine straight 1000 yard seasons, Tony Door set and a guy that I had a chance to interview many many years ago got his own barbecue sauce.
01:00:43
A great businessman and entrepreneur in Dallas, TV was a guy that knew how to find the end zone to and again, what near 13,000 career rushing yards ranks up there all time on the list.
01:00:54
Next to him in some of the greats, virtues of TV was a guy that again nine straight 1000 yard seasons.
01:01:00
That is unbelievable.
01:01:01
Offensive rookie of the year and 77 the guy with around Starbuck and those guys that they had play on those teams, just just amazing.
01:01:08
So it's He is actually 10th on the list of rushing leaders.
01:01:14
Now, before we get out here, I got to say this.
01:01:16
Frank Gore, 15,347 rushing yards.
01:01:20
He is currently still playing, and he is third on the all time rushing leaders list.
01:01:27
Adrian Peterson, who we talked about earlier.
01:01:30
14,000 216 yards.
01:01:33
He is currently fifth on the all time list.
01:01:37
Now things are both guys that are still very active in the NFL.
01:01:41
Probably got a year, maybe two.
01:01:44
I don't know.
01:01:45
Let's just say they each have this year coming up.
01:01:47
But I mean, isn't two guys that are third and fifth on the list and honestly, Frank Gordon's I mean, he's not a guy that really lifted up, you know, As far as your I saw, you weren't like man Frank Gore dat dude, he just work.
01:02:03
He doesn't He didn't have the same cachet.
01:02:06
Is Barry or even Curtis Martin or the Damien Tomlinson who was seventh on that list? Rome.
01:02:14
He was the bus.
01:02:15
Nobody of Frank Gore that way.
01:02:17
But he number three crazy on this list and he's still playing.
01:02:23
I mean, AP going to the hole.
01:02:25
No doubt my concern is unless, you know it's Frank really gonna is that gonna walk in to the Hall of Fame that that might be a conservative just because he's not that memorable of a fighter and I will throw nothing out there real quick? I mean, we talked about LaDainian Tomlinson.
01:02:43
I watched him come out of TCU and was a 28 rushing touchdowns in 2006 to dominate the league there, too.
01:02:49
I think he's up there.
01:02:50
You mentioned he was on the list there, too, But you know, the guys that kind of sneaks in For many, it was never a Super Bowl winning, Ah, tailback, But a guy that had a hell of a career, Thurman Thomas, I love they're not bills in the way Jim Kelly and the way they played with each other to great Marv Levy teams there.
01:03:05
The nineties.
01:03:06
It's unfortunate what happened with the Super Bowl success, but I will say Thurman Thomas was a bruiser late in that backfield to bring down, and you had to go low to get him.
01:03:14
And so I mostly just like Emmett finding holes known how to hit gaps and stuff like that.
01:03:18
Thurman to me should be up there in that top 10 or top 50.
01:03:21
Thurman is number 16 on the list.
01:03:23
I dated one of his cousin.
01:03:25
She was very sweet. Girl.
01:03:27
Went to his house? Yeah, shoot it up with him.
01:03:31
He was He lived in Sugar Land, Texas at the time.
01:03:34
Um, great guy always.
01:03:37
And he wants to be like she was like, You can't treat him like that.
01:03:41
We're just gonna go.
01:03:42
We're gonna just leave him alone, you know? Don't bring.
01:03:45
I know you have memorabilia.
01:03:47
Don't bring it. Of course I completely are.
01:03:49
And just gonna finish by saying this quick story.
01:03:51
So we get to the house, we go there, he opens the door, and he's not.
01:03:56
He's not a very tall guy at all, but he's very earthy, so he lives in this house.
01:04:01
Sec 44 stories and it's just it's amazing house.
01:04:06
We literally just chopped up like two guys talking whatever talked about football.
01:04:10
We talked about baseball, talked about fishing.
01:04:13
I mean, all kinds of stuff.
01:04:15
And what was funny was at the end of the night when we're getting ready to leave.
01:04:18
So, you know, I gave him a little gap game, a little hug or whatever.
01:04:21
He looked at me and goes, You can go get it and I go, OK, what It goes, Mike, I know you got gear in the car, and I was like, not German worker.
01:04:33
He's like, Mike, just go.
01:04:34
Kid ran to the car and grabbed the stuff and brought it back.
01:04:39
He signed everything we're keeping in touch with him for a while. I was living in Houston.
01:04:43
I mean, just a really great guy.
01:04:46
And you're right.
01:04:47
He definitely should be quite about being on that list.
01:04:49
These numbers in all time 12,000 and 74 yards.
01:04:53
So yeah.
01:04:54
There you go.
01:04:55
All right, guys, we won't wait too long, Brandon.
01:04:56
Anything imitated Nice move before we get out here.

Monday's Memorial.
00:00:24

00:01:18
Amen.
00:19:18
Don't go anywhere, you all sports guy Mike Show right here.

00:41:59
And, of course, coming up.
00:42:00

00:46:43
Don't forget check inside of social Media at Sports Guy Mike on Facebook.
00:46:47
Instagram.
01:04:58
Hey, man, have a great Memorial Day weekend.
01:05:00
And, hey, one more back, I'm gonna throw up there.
01:05:02
The great Earl Campbell can't forget about Earl Campbell to as well, with five seasons 1300 yards.
01:05:07
And Mawr just made the players better around him to.
01:05:09
So everybody just have a great Memorial Day weekend.
01:05:12
Let's, uh, make some progress.
01:05:14
Owners and players in your respective sports is gets up on paper, whether it's CB agreement or something.
01:05:19
Man, let's get our you know what? Out of gear and, uh, keep the dialogue open and good for God, man, we're almost June 1st.
01:05:26
Let's get ah, spring training back and figure out ways to get a universal D H and let's play ball.
01:05:31
There you go.
01:05:32
All right.
01:05:33
You all have a great weekend enjoyment.
01:05:35
