sports CAF stairs and liking at this time.
Hey, what's up, everybody? We got to your college game breakers episodes to Teoh, Stephen, Stephen and Rex coming at you on a Wednesday night.
This is gonna be our usual time going forward.
We're gonna aim for Wednesday's at seven Eastern when it's the off season.
So I'm, like, usual.
You can hit us up at the breakdown.
We both produce content for them.
That's at the underscore beer K d WN on Twitter.
You can follow me there as well.
It's the same as my SportsCastr name.
Well, im we're going to it weekly while we're outside the season.
We got our college basketball re watches on Thursday night.
So we'll come at you two times a week for college basketball action because we need it in this quarantine time.
How you survive in Stephen.
Oh, you know, it's pretty good.
Pretty much surviving on just this, You know, the ah rewatch is to give me some sort of sports and the podcast.
You mean outlet to talk, You know I love it.
I'm excited to be back for Episode two happy we didn't get canceled on Episode one now? Yeah, there's always time.
There's always time for us to get cancelled.
But as long as people so like it the way they did last week, we should be good.
But yeah, you can follow me.
Also at Stephen C to 26.
You know, I'm trying to get trying to get the followers up, So if you watch this, throw me to follow, let me try to get some sort of following by.
I'm ready to talk about all the new stuff that happened this week.
So, um, let's not bull**** around during this little in true Eri and get right into our college basketball talks.
Um, Steven's gonna enter this a little bit better than me, but going forward, we're going toe kick off each episode with recruit talk.
Um, he's gonna explain how we're going through it, but if you're not aware and he haven't followed Steven on Twitter, um, he just watches high school basketball like a junkie.
There's definitely college basketball games on at the same time, but we'll be watching the high school hoops, so let him get into it.
But you're definitely getting some great A recruit knowledge coming from Stephen.
Yeah. I mean, I don't know what's better to Larson.
Some really good high school basketball, those Jim's, especially when they're sold out.
I can't find anything better, but just to get right into it, we're going to try to do about about five prospects a week this week were started by six because we're doing prospects 100 through 95 and we're going to start it off with a great shooter going into, ah, going into the conference, I'm gonna watch most.
So that's where you cons gonna be.
What CJ will chur going to Ah, going a Xavier This year is a He's your classic big time shooter to guard with good size.
He's 651 95 from Rozelle Catholic, and I mean, you know, he's gonna be somebody that helps them special for because they didn't have a ton of that this year.
And I mean, with Xavier bringing back not all their best players, but they're bringing back a good amount of players.
Adding him to that team is going to be key for them this year.
Wolters coming out of New Jersey and He's probably one of the top prospects, obviously, because he's in the top 100.
But in Eggs, a viewer with a little bit of a loaded lineup, I don't think he'll get over 15 minutes a game next season.
Bum at 65 in the length.
Like you said, I think he's definitely get some buckets.
Ah, coming in off the bench.
He adds to the depth that Xavier really needs and, um, going into a good Big East conference this year.
So I think just moving straight from him, we're gonna We're going to keep this going fast.
So we're gonna go to a big man from France who committed to Arizona.
So another nice international prostate for Arizona in Daniel Bochco.
He is, um, he's use a little bit like Lowry marketing.
Um, you know, he can stretch the floor as the center.
He's a pretty good shooter, and he'll be able to fill that big man role for a rezoning this year.
He definitely has that, um, European touch to him.
6 10 guy that can extend the floor for Arizona.
I wouldn't say a huge one and done school, but so what do definitely turns over players frequently and does have freshmen in their lineups.
I think he's here and probably get somewhere around 20 minutes a game, so it's gonna be pretty hyped.
So he definitely has the potential to put up 10 10 points a game.
I don't think he'll get to 10 points a game, but I think we'll be grabbing around five or six boards again.
Which toe, um, Wildcats needs because they kind of struggled on the boards last season.
Next we're gonna we're gonna move to a guy that I love Locking in high school.
They have a ranks a little bit lower than I thought at 98th in the, uh, 24 7 composite rankings.
But we got Jabari Sibley out off one of the national powers at the high school level. You went toe OK.
And he's going to Georgetown, which is a big get for Patrick Ewing.
And I just I love the way that Sibley places really good finish at the rim and use a good finisher above the room.
So he's gonna be that athletic four guy for the Hoyas after they lost all those transfers this year, he's gonna be somebody you just steps in and plays a big role for them.
Yeah, So has you alluded to which my point was gonna be with everyone transferring out and with MK Long that will get into a little bit later in the episode.
There's definitely minutes to be had there, and he's going to be the guy coming in as a freshman.
That's gonna clock over 25 minutes a game next season.
So I think he definitely has the potential to score double digits for state.
And then the next guy is a guy that, personally, I haven't seen too much about because he is.
He's from Canada.
And I mean, all of her Maxence prosper is, you know, he's a good player going to Clemson, which is a good get for the Tigers.
But I'm not sure how necessarily college ready he'll be.
Actually, it says actually, now that I'm looking at it again, it says he from Mexico.
But he went to school in Canada, So he's I think he's way to roll.
He's the guy going to Clemson, right? He's going to Clemson.
I think he's gonna be way to roll, and he's going to be out there in your junk minutes or they're just going to get out there to get him a little bit more used to the game.
But he's a guy that's got to stay there for two or three seasons before you see an impact from them.
Oh, yeah, At least he still seems just a little bit slim to be competing in the A C C.
Because if they want to play power forward at 671 85 he's going to get him moved around down little by a lot of those other a CC forwards.
So well, I like what he can dio and what you can be.
I don't think he's as ready right now as climbs and probably needs.
And the last guy coming in at Number 95 is the guy Rex, actually, you know a little bit more about.
But John hugely, who's going to Ah, Pittsburgh, if you are first.
Yeah, I was about to say, Don't worry, we're not a pit panther.
John Hughley Pot Test of podcast 1st 2 episodes.
His name's been talked about almost the most bottom with the 95th overall.
Recruit at six foot nine, he's afford.
That's gonna definitely get minutes.
I think he's probably gonna play close to 20 minutes a game, but expect him to be very active on the defensive end, which is one of his better highlights.
Boost people in their mixtapes, only throwing the dunks.
But watch this guy's thing.
At six foot nine, he's picking guys pockets, which is pretty cool to see.
Yeah, he'll be a good addition for them in the, uh in the front court, and I'm excited to see if he could be one of those guys That helps bring Pittsburgh back.
So that is our recruits.
For the one on our countdown from 100 we're gonna hit like Stephen said about 5 to 6 and episode, So we're gonna keep it quick.
They're the only other recruiting news that we saw.
Steven, I know if you've watched the lander's play so far, A.
He was a guy in the 2021 class.
He now reclassified Teoh 2020 so he's was the number 12 guy, so he's probably gonna slot into the top 20 for this class.
So on what do you think? He's gonna be an instant impact that Indiana? Or is he gonna be a guy that takes time to develop there? I think he'll be a guy where people will expect him to step in like Game one and be a big player.
But I don't think he's ready to do that.
Reclassifying this late.
I think you'll see him start to come on.
Like some of the other guys who reclassify around the January February in conference play, you'll see him starting to take some more strides forward.
He might be a guy that has to, um, you might be a guy that has to stay there for two years and you'll really see him shine in Year two as a sop****re, which would really be technically his freshman year if you didn't reclassify.
But I really like what Indian is getting in another.
He's probably another guy is a little bit like Old Depot and, um, Romeo Langford kind of like that time.
Yeah, I think Landers is a huge get for them.
Everyone and I you is going nuts on their Twitter, so I like to dive into different college basketball Twitter right now, Just because at the craziness right now of where we're at, people love the overact every even more So it seems like this guy from their twitters during coming and dropped 15.
Um, I think that's a little ridiculous.
So I you Twitter shut out in the comments and SportsCastr or in Facebook with both live on them.
Right now we will answer your comments and questions.
So if you want Hoppin, don't worry.
Shout out to Jimmy Martin for that tip right there.
So that wraps up our recruiting section.
Now we're just gonna get into our general news and coaching news of the week.
Um, so the biggest thing that I saw and it was released about two or three hours before here is on the N.
Voted to allow, um, voluntary workouts for men's basketball along with women's basketball in college football to begin on June 1st.
So that's a little bit of ah, a good late at the end of the tunnel for us, right there something that give us looking for knowing that they'll be practicing.
Yeah, I love seeing that.
It gives me a lot more hope for this year actually happening if there will in the lead teams going in practice and just over a week and 1/2.
So I'm excited, cause if anything, at the least, I feel like people won't be as rusty as they would be if they didn't like kids go back until, like, the start of the fall semester.
Yeah, that's definitely huge that I'm They're definitely gonna have to be those restrictions in, But at least some of the freshmen could get on campus.
As of right now, international guys coming from Canada are restricted to come.
So if that lift is enough, by June 1st it could be an issue.
But I'm glad we're getting some positive signs here.
Um, one guy who will not be participating on this if Green Bay Alexe toe resume on June 1st will be linked.
Arnar, um, he was released this week as the head coach or fired.
Whatever way you want to put it.
In his five seasons there, he went 92 in 80 so he's only 12 games above 500 but I'm in the horizon.
But it was strange because his contract was through 2026 Green Bay.
Kind of just let him go this year.
So they'll be looking for a new head coach.
Um, there's no big names out.
There are no other big names schools out there, so I guess they could have who they want.
But I'm not really too sure who's gonna be looking to take over a job right now.
Yeah, I was honestly, a really surprising thing for me to see this week, cause this late in the year, you don't expect really to see any coaches get let go.
And especially not one that has had If it's not good, success, at least moderate is us.
You know you're not gonna have a bad team with in Green Bank.
At least with him is your head coach.
So I mean, at this point in the year and with a contract that long, I would have at least expected him to coach this year.
And then if they really want to let him know you do it great.
After there's next season ends.
Yeah, it definitely is a cost to buy him out or it determinate that.
So as of right now, my guest, Green Bay has the money on a team that, Ah, little bit of sad news from the college basketball world is Stephen have Austin.
Not for this upcoming March Madness, but very the one in 2021 2022.
They're gonna be ineligible.
I've seen it's because of Low A PR scores, and I've also seen it's because of paperwork not being done from the admin, so they're gonna be ineligible.
I think it's foolish, and I hate the college punishes future players for past schools and players mistakes because they had nothing involved with it.
So it's a shame to see Stephen F.
Austin, who sometimes does who is Ah, March Madness team from their conference when they went out can't make it that season.
So hopefully that doesn't hurt their recruiting to add knowing that you have that postseason ban in play.
Yeah, I hate to see that, like, if you have to.
If you have to ban, um, at least do it for this year.
Don't kill their recruiting for next year when they know they can't make it in 2021 22 because if you if they have a really bad recruiting class next year then, like a school like them who needs kids to stay.
All four years is really going to struggle for probably two or three years, even after 2021.
Just cause that upperclassmen group at, like two or three, right, three or four years from now isn't going to be a strong is what they've had in the past.
No, I hate to see it.
And the last bit of news, just about an hour to hour ago, you can go check out Mac clones.
Um, he was a guy who put his name in the transfer portal last week from Georgetown.
As of an hour ago, he declared his top seven.
I'll just read it off to you and Stephen.
I want you to give me where you hope he, um, ends up and I'll let you know where I think he ends up as well.
So So we put a Memphis weight.
Texas Tech, USC, South California, not the Game****s, BYU, Auburn and Arkansas.
So I'm of those seven schools where he hoped he ends up at.
I got three teams that I would love to see him at.
I would love to see him end up in been faced with Penny Hardaway because the way Penny has been recruiting that this is gonna be a force in the A C.
And just adding in a player like Mac McLean would be huge.
I'd like to see him if he doesn't go there.
I'd like to see him a BYU Cosby, while you already has Matt Harms coming in from pretty well.
So if you get Harms and McCaughan like, that's gonna be a team that maybe one beak Gonzaga but could probably be the biggest challenger to Gonzaga in the WCC.
Or if he goes toe Arkansas and adds into that huge recruiting class muscleman is bringing in, I think that would be, ah, fun place to watch him play, too.
So if I guess if you give three schools, you, you're you're getting your chances pretty strong that you'll get one, right? Um, I honestly, of all of all the schools list.
I hope he ends up at Auburn.
I think with their high flying offense and how they like to get up and down the court, I think Bruce Pearl will use him well and I think, oh, throw down some nice dunks if he gets in Auburn.
I mean, I could see that.
I don't know how much I love watching him play there, because obviously he wasn't in my top three, but e I feel like it would be good for Ah, I feel it would be good for Auburn to help them challenge in the sec.
Hey, that team had under 10 losses last season.
There slept on as a power.
So that's why if you got Media El eligible, it be huge for all burn.
Even if he does have to set out a year, it's a nice get for them.
Yeah, graph earliest.
All right, Stephen, let's get into our main segment.
I know you've been itching to get to this one.
Yeah, um, it's about I think that what the delay is doing is it'll go both ways for N c.
But I think it will have an immediate impact, but not in immediate bad impact for the ah, for the n. C. Double.
Because, I mean, you got Jalen Greene and Isaiah Todd, who I know have already committed to play in the D League and set of going to college and those are the type of names that the N C a like to use to either get teams into the tournament if they're on the bubble or games that will get nationally televised games that will get more eyeballs in.
So either it'll hurt the viewing numbers or something, for it'll hurt just the teams that they couldn't going to like.
I know Isaiah Todd was supposed to go to Michigan.
That could have made Michigan the team to be in the big time and without him there, they're still one of the favors.
But I don't know if they're the team to be anymore, so so you didn't get 100%.
So you think it's going to be bad for college or good for college after that? Just because I think named two guys that may have gone Euro, they could have decommitted at any point to leave to go play in Europe.
I think immediately it will be, ah, bad impact presidency double.
He's gonna be losing those big One and done names that they use for a lot for television and to get numbers in the tournament like you come a lot of like the fans weren't huge.
As you know by fans like we are like to come to watch.
Those big names that were either already committed are going to commit to college.
And without those guys, it could hurt.
Initially, I don't know if it hurts all the way through, because you're going to get those guys.
You stay for three or four years and those will be the guys that you love to see in the tournament multiple times, which could be better.
But initially, I think it will hurt the NC double a dot N c A A.
And it'll if the Geely starts about more of their games on TV and you get to watch those guys.
You could have washing college playing the Julie.
I think more people might start watching that.
So I necessarily don't think this is going to be a bad thing for college, even though it's not a bad thing.
I do like the Geely doing this, even though I want the stars in college.
If possible, they would go overseas, which is like frustrating for the athlete and for the families because of how far they have to go.
They have to go to New Zealand or Spain or Europe.
Now they can go to South California or wherever these teams air in the United States.
So I really do like that aspect of it, Um, to keep the talent in the United States, keep it easier for us to watch because, um R. J.
Hunter and Brandon Jennings when they went and left, it wasn't people weren't following them, and they're hard to watch.
And there were definitely two guys I was really wanting to watch place in college ball.
So from that aspect, um, I kind of like it, but bring it back mawr to the Geely.
These players are on one and done contracts.
So after your one year, you have to declare for the draft.
So, um, it could bite you in the butt if you are slower developer or if you get hurt or if you don't get off to the best start because after that one and done contract, not saying your basketball career is over.
But it's gonna limit your growth, and you're going to be bouncing around that maybe end up in Europe instead of taking those two or three years to develop in college.
Yeah, I have other parts, but I'll let you get in and retort back after they do their one and done contract with the team that they're on.
They can always go sign another lawyer contract with the G lead to get those two or three years in No, you Leggio draft like yeah, they were declare.
And then if they go back to the D League to finish their development, it's almost like it's almost like the and the MBA could almost treat that as like the draft and sash that they used to dio back in the day were light.
They know this guys are high level recruits, and if they spend a second round pick on somebody, that might just be a slower developer.
That could end up being the star for them, but they get in the second round.
That could be a steal, and I think it really all depends on this year.
But if Green and tied have like a really good season in the D League and they end up being high draft picks, I think that could lead to ah lot more of those top 20 top 30 recruits saying if more NBA teams, we're gonna watch me in the D League because it's like their teams affiliate or something like that, looking for players to call up anyway, why don't I go there instead of spending a year in college? I'm not getting paid at all.
Well, they that's where the n c a jump back and said, You can start making some money, so that's their fight back at it.
But it's really, if you think, is if the D League who isn't really known to develop the talent, but as of right now, they're not really getting the talent because you're getting the lower and N b A player.
So it's going to be interesting how much more NBA franchises actually start investing into their G League teams toe develop this talent if they're going to start getting it.
But the only way you could convince me that if this is gonna really hurt the N C. A.
A is how many guys are actually going to utilize this each year because there's got to be a limit number of spots because I don't think they can keep popping up teams and they're not gonna have teams of 15.
So, like 20 just sit in their cause, then you're not going to get the time.
So what? The limited spots? I think that's something.
Where to trickle down economics factor in college basketball, where your smaller schools may get hurt because some of their targets would begin to get coached by the bigger school, since they're losing these guys.
So that's really the only way you could tell me that this could hurt college basketball, but I don't think that would be a long term factor along long term issue for college basketball.
Yeah, I I think that in suitably ends up bouncing back with just longer term guys.
I just think losing the top end guys hurts.
Maybe some of their like fair weather fan revenue, at least in the tournament.
So then D thinks I on goes to this G leak.
Or do you think he still stays at Duke? If this was available, that's tough.
I never really knew how much.
I guess it kind of depends on Was I on? You knew he was going to be like number one in the top three so he could have done whatever he wanted and been fine.
That just varies on how much he valued getting his money over how much he valued getting the college experience, which I think is what it's gonna be for a lot of guys.
But he seems like the type of guy who knows he's gonna make enough money that he probably still would have gone to college just for the year.
Yeah, and then the dirty side of the college, You know, the science.
Still, somehow, Wolf, he's in the court for it right now, but they get paid to go there, so yeah, it is still an option, even though it is college, but yeah, do definitely gave him the bag before he left.
So that's what I'm saying.
I don't know how much of a factor this could really be.
I'm really interested to see it, cause I'm definitely gonna be watching these Geely games to see what it is.
Um, see how these guys do against you're gonna have 18 or 19 year olds going up against 25 26 year olds fighting for their career.
And these guys were just getting started.
So maybe these Julie guys grand go hard.
Adam and try to knock him down because they're fighting for that spot.
Um, I don't know.
I mean, I think I I think the Geely guys are still going to get hired competition president going against either the guys that we're the best on their team in college.
And, like when, you know, you're playing against guys who were, like, top and guys in college, you are playing desperate right now because they want to make it to the league.
That type of competition is just gonna be a better level for them to grow than college right now.
So is that how many teams is it right now? Only one.
Yeah, I think they just added one for these guys this year because this year almost seems a little bit like a trial around.
So it was about to say, maybe we'll see two teams in there.
So if you get two teams, then that goes to 20 guys in.
Yeah, I could definitely see their trickle down recruiting fact there, come in.
But if they keep it with one, um, you always get your three or four guys that go overseas each year.
Um, I definitely like I said earlier, I definitely like the factor that keeps the guy's home closer to their families.
What's their family? At least travel for games, not having to get a New Zealand or go to Italy to try to watch these? Yeah, this is one of those times I wish I had it last year because if we were able to keep ah, RJ Hampton and Romelo ball in the U. S.
To play in the D League last year, I would have liked that more than trying to watch him play in New Zealand.
Yeah, like, uh, the issues you go through trying to find the New Zealand basketball stream.
If it's like not right on their Facebook page or if it's not the first Google result, you're you're really risking your computer's ah, life.
They're trying to find some strain sometimes, Yeah, just find a good a sports book that allows you to watch the live sports after you make a life.
But those air my best way is to try to find these euro games.
If you're intell optional.
Yeah, anything else you want to say about your G league debate? Um, anything you really want to sell your case to me.
Because as of right now, I don't think this is ah current issue for your college basketball.
Uh, no, I think it's I think is good.
I think the Julie's gonna prove themselves and show that they're gonna have They're gonna take Not a good amount, but definitely some of the viewers from the NC delay with these new guys.
All right, They just need a couple of years.
Keep your eyes on it.
This will Something we'll be monitoring will break any news or if any other names come out to declare to this late will definitely let you know.
As of right now, we got two names declared their, um, Let's see if we get any more.
Um, our third segment of the show.
Further the college game breakers produced by the breakdown.
We're going to a quick last season review.
Steven's gonna pick one team.
I'm going to pick one team.
We're going to rotate each week who gets a great team or over performing team, and the other one gets a team that maybe struggled and didn't have its best season.
So, um, I swear I'm not a Utah state fan.
But last season, I I really wanted to get at Stephen for not picking them to be the dope team to start off our college game breakers.
But the team that did win their Mountain West championship.
Not many teams can say they won their conference, so they did win their conference.
They finished at 26 8 The Beat San Diego State, who was the top squad, as we also offer most of the season.
Last year, they did lose to them toys and the regular season.
So I will have to give give that against them.
But it's hard to beat the same team three times in a row.
And they got the one that matters because they got to get that trophy, um, against the quad, one a opponent so that you're really top notch teams.
They want one and four.
That one win being against San Diego State.
So I definitely want to see what this team can do next season.
Um, my favorite part about the squad last season other than Sam Merrill, the goats, three at the buzzer.
Um, definitely a shot where I said No, no, no at first, because he just pounded the area of the ball, did like one or two crossovers and then pulled back.
So all credit to him.
They were one of the few squads, especially being a mid major squad that was ranked in the top 50 for offensive and defensive efficiency.
So I really like to see that in a mid major squad.
That means they're getting solid coaching and they do return.
Um, their key player, Sam Merrill does graduate, unfortunately for us, but Keita is gonna be back.
He looks to be fully healthy, which I'm really pumped about because he missed the 1st 10 or 15 games.
So it took a little bit longer to get into the rhythm.
But you definitely saw his impact in the paint once she got fully up to speed just a monster on the inside, grabbing the boards and cleaning the defensive class.
So if Cato wasn't a guy, you got the watch last season.
Definitely get the watch him in this upcoming one, and then Justin Being and Alfonzo Anderson were both other solid key pieces for them.
That's the other big guy, and there are other guard Steven I'll let you get into it before I make my last point where I saw why Utah State was one of the top squads last year.
Yeah, I mean, you said Utah State was time 15 offensive and defensive efficiency, but But they did still come in lower in both rankings than my team from last week was.
Why did them first as a Dough team in Liberty who was a better offensive team and a better defensive team in a smaller conference? And I mean, Sam Merrill pretty good, pretty good.
I wouldn't call him a great.
He did all this as a senior, so it took him.
Would 334 years to get there ID like what? You said in Keita.
I know we tested the draft orders this year, but if he's coming back, that's their main guy.
They definitely had a good year last year.
They got the win when it counted, but I mean 12 and six in the Mountain West.
I know that's a good mid major, but is it really like the bass made major? I don't know and like those guys beat each other up a lot, so they repeat next year.
Yeah, they're issue is definitely in January.
They lost four of their eight games in January, and they had a three game rough patch where they dropped three in a row.
So they figured some things out after their.
But I'm one of the biggest factors.
Why they were one of the top squads is they limited any squads chances at grabbing offensive board.
So they limited your second shots and they were really 11th best in it.
So that's definitely one of the big factors.
Why I like them and Stephen Right now, I'm blowing up on one of these websites on last year stats.
I'm going to give us the, ah, the spread on a neutral court if Utah State and your Liberty Flames would have went head to head.
So is there anything else you want to say before we get in to see what the Spread would have been? Just that on? Just that, you know, it came from the Atlantic sun.
Are they really going to get seven footers the same way Utah State can get seven footers like I mean, both teams are going to slow down the game, so it's gonna be low scoring.
I wouldn't expect this right to be too high by unless liberties really shooting the ball.
Well, I don't know if they're gonna rebound over Keita in that verdicts, as Liberty will have a decent chance to win this one.
But we're going for Utah State, 62 to 58 so they're giving about around the 34 point spread.
But it's definitely one.
If both teams maybe would have made some noise in March, that would have been a sweet matchup for the Ages of Liberty versus Utah State game.
So let's not pound the drum with the Utah State anymore. Censuses.
Last season's review.
Who you got this season for your you got from last season That really underperformed my team.
That clearly underperformed the team that everybody already knows about was North Carolina, like 14 and 19 at a true blue blood school? You can't can't have that any Roy Williams had what this was his first season under 500 as the head coach in North Carolina, and it was there.
It was their first ones.
It was their first losing season in total since 1 4002 and they just They were not shooting the ball well.
They were not agree.
They were the only shot 42% from the field, which was 268th in the country.
You can't can't have that in the CC and expect to win games.
And then when you're giving up 73 point for him at the same time, I mean, I think 14 and 19 weight of bed I like They might have been a little bit blessed to go to be that good.
Well, you can't once Ah, I'm blanking on his name.
Their point guard went down for the season.
There's not much more you could say about them, but you never see North Carolina end up 84th overall.
And Ken Bomb Coal.
When Cole Anthony went down, that changed the whole mantra of that team.
Sure, they weren't the most fluid or the best squad when he was there, but ending up 84th and kenpom regardless, who you have at UNC, that's ah, bad season.
Yeah, I mean, they'll be This is just like a blip on the radar.
They got the number two recruiting class coming into this year, they got 35 stars with Caleb above Walker Castle area and Day Wrong Sharp.
One of Love's a point guard.
The other tour both centres Walker Castle.
It is a true seven footer, but this isn't gonna be a consistent downtime for North Carolina.
This is just a off season for them.
But even then it was.
It got a little sad to watch.
North Carolina has under 500 team that didn't really have a chance.
You know, it's definitely weird Team the spread of their games because it was always just itching, like people were just betting the name UNC last year.
So there's definitely that one patch in the season where, um, it was definitely a good time.
Teoh fade, um, Unc, cause they had one stretch where they lost four in a row.
Then they had another stretch where they lost five.
Then they had one stretch where they lost seven.
So that team just couldn't find a rhythm and couldn't put and stop those losing streaks.
And he'll see that from Roy Williams teams? No, never but getting off last season.
Uh, the world segment you wrote quick before we jump into our next segment.
Uh, right now you can check us out on T public.
Um, we'll have a bunch of breakdown stuff there.
We have a hoody and T shirt that you could grab there, but I'm the one reason why I really like ah t public you can see are short you're l down at the bottom is these are all independent, um, artists who create the T shirt So we'll have the Phoenix Coyotes old school hockey cantina logo for you.
We can grab a Joey Borough T shirt for yes.
So these are all different ones.
They don't have our logo or our brand on it.
So we want to definitely support these guys.
Definitely in this time, who may have this as their main source of income, So I definitely check it out.
That's right below me.
And we're the college basketball part of the breakdown.
We have an MBA one as well, and that's hosted by Chris LeBron.
You hooked on me with SportsCastr the one time he is a dope gas coming up.
And if I You guy who's declared for the N.
B a draft think you'll definitely get drafted out of ah F i u like I said he was the defensive player of the year and that's OSHA.
Definitely a big guy.
Bloxham Shots definitely watch some film on him If you were in F I u guy last season, but I'll have them on their, I think, their recording right now, actually.
So what? Look for that to drop.
Um, the breakdown.
Twitter will definitely tweet that at the underscore beer K D W and give us to follow their, um so Stephen, let's get into our season previews coming up for this year out.
Switching off the reviews from last.
All right, team I'm looking to preview today is I'm going to the Big 12.
I want to look at TCU, a team that was they were in the tournament two years ago, I believe.
And then they had a little bit of it down here.
This year they went 16 and 16 but they, um, they lose a couple of their guards, but they bring back a good amount of their best.
Players like Desmond Dane, who was the leading scorer graduates this year and they lose gyre Dreyer in you drink dentists who were.
They weren't huge players for them.
They were only averaging 7.
5 in six points a game, respectively.
But they they have a lot of good guards coming back to replace.
Those two guys were both also guards, and they bring right there second leading scorer and arguing them hard to.
It was sop****re last year.
Who's gonna be? He's gonna be the leader of the team this year, and they bring back their center, who is also only a software, and Kevin Samuel.
So with those two guys and then Jade on the day, who was a I.
He was a top 100 recruit in 2018 coming back as a ah Junior forward for them with P. J.
Fuller, a freshman who is a top 75 recruits last year, uh, and shoes their coach again.
Jamie Dixon, Pittsburgh.
I, Of course, you got that pretty quick, Um, but he's a He's a good coach.
I like him as the guy who's going to develop those guys and then they don't have.
They don't necessarily have a top class, but they have some good guys who can develop.
That's fracturing this year, and then they bring in a transfer that I like from USC, who has good roots in Carl's O'Bannon Jr.
I think they said his uncle was at O Bannon, who was in the n b A.
And then his dad was a just Charles O'Banion r o Bannon was Fed college player.
And so I mean, they have their pieces coming in.
O'Bannon, as of right now, is supposed to stand out this year, but he's filing an appeal in the fall to become eligible for this season, which would be big for them as another a guard wing type player.
And then they bring in one of the guys who is not.
He wasn't the most known guy at Sierra Canyon, obviously, could.
You had Ronnie James and Zire Williams and Zaire weighed.
But Terry and Frank, as a power forward, is a guy who might get spot minutes for TCU this year.
But I definitely strike them to be have, at the very least, a winning record.
But to be one of the teams challenging for ah NC delay tournaments by with the end of the year.
So, um, TCU is definitely squad that many people aren't talk around the basketball words.
Jamie Dixon has definitely get done a good job at the school.
Previous to this season.
He had all 20 wins in his 1st 3 So that's nice to see once they're transitioning as a coach, but I really think this is there.
Uh, let's see how well Jamie Dixon can coach.
Let's see how he can develop that talent, because this season it doesn't.
I wouldn't say it looks too hot for TCU Coming in.
Losing Desmond Bain is huge, and I don't know who's going to be there to replace them.
Um, I don't like I like their defense in this upcoming season, but their offense scares me.
I really think this is a team that could have double digits losses in conference next season with how strong the Big 12 ends up to be.
And I think this could be one of the teams at the bottom barrel of the Big 12 going into next season.
I see with Bain leaving, that's where I like.
I like them hard taking his spot and then either a day or Deontay Smith being a guy who gets those rebounds that they're losing with pain.
But if you put it, if you move them hard to the number one guard spot and you move.
Followed it to the number two with Samuel the day Smith and, ah, it was Smith.
And the day with it's really all depends on if they let O'Bannon play.
Could still be a guy that adds the depth that they need, but I think there top five computes with a good amount of teams there.
I think sometimes if they were in the end of teams that are deeper than them, they can get out run.
But like they're gonna be a team that's competitive every game.
You know, we can definitely get more into this.
I definitely think there will be competitive squad.
I don't doubt that.
But the only ones I'm going, not off the top of my head, but ah, Kansas State and Iowa City.
I think those were the only squads that you can make an argument that they're better than.
I don't think they're better than Oklahoma are the Oklahoma State and then then you get into the big boys of the Big 12 basketball.
So that's where I think that's where I think they're Ceiling is is they're gonna fight to be 500 overall, I think, but we can definitely get more into this debate when we do our Big 12 preview.
Um, we're just hitting one squad one by one because we all know you need your preseason preview in in May.
So this is where we're gonna give you one.
Um, so coming off of TCU, my one squad, you probably know what conference I'm going to go to next.
I promise I won't grab it school from the A 10 But I'm I gotta shut up to Richmond. The Spiders.
This is a team where it's gonna be scary.
The potential This team has coming out the A 10.
What day and phone Back and ST Louis looking like to be the top dog in the 8 10 Richmond definitely has their case to be made to be this they would they literally return 94.
7 of their minutes from last season.
Their starting lineup looks to be five seniors.
So on when you have a five senior starting lineup and the depth that they have, um, I think that this team can only get better.
They went 24 7 last season under Chris Mooney.
They only have anyone leaving as of note, given their 94.
So a team with maturity and a team that was going to make a run into 8 10 20 I think that was their only chance to make the March madness.
Unfortunately, last season if they did win it, that's that was a good squad that probably would again bumped out by a nine and 12 Big 12 or a C C team, in my opinion.
But Blake Francis and Jacob Gillard there, your guards and they're going to get you buckets.
I think both of these guys here in score over 15 next season next year.
Rod is more of their small four going in for next year, so he'll be nice as well.
Another senior and then their bigs.
And Grant Colin.
You like I said, two more seniors.
So when you're throwing out that five senior lineup that has all that chemistry together, I really want to see what Chris Mooney conduce A and, uh, in Richmond this season.
Yeah, that's definitely gonna be a scary team.
It's gonna be tough to see how many teams that anytime they want to put in the N. C w tournament.
But the Richmond that you listed today and ST Louis from last regard, those are gonna be must watch games and they play each other.
And I mean, that is definitely the top two in the 8 10 It'll be tough to find anybody is gonna match what they have coming back.
Yeah, it's a shame that we didn't get the A 10 tournament, because since the D, both of those teams, ST Louis and Richmond are returning a lot.
I really wanted to see what kind of contest they put up against A in an OBE top and not saying day in was as good as a power five school, but last years and they're definitely top teen top Top 10 team overall.
So I wanted to see what they could produce against the top talent.
But you want to get into that last segment.
Yes, I've become going to win again.
So when me and Stephen were bouncing around the ideas of college game breakers, we really needed our staple segment in the off season.
We needed something that was going to keep the people coming back.
It got a little feisty on Twitter today, given last week's, uh, results.
So what we're doing is we're creating our own starting five.
Um, we will clarify if we say the best.
But last week we did not say Who is the best? Just taking over all town.
We're picking squads that we want to put on the court.
We really want to figure out a way to be able to see him, our games against each other, to figure out who would wouldn't.
Because there's definitely a lot of talk, all fair, that gets done.
But, um, to get into it for this week, we're doing their starting five of Coach Cal players.
So this is anyone who he coached at U Mass Memphis and in Kentucky.
So, um, eso we're going guard guard for it for its enter your standard lineup.
So, Stephen, who do you got? Aiken.
If you watched any of her streams, this is like the easiest layup of all time.
Who? He's got number one overall.
But who do you got? Yes, writing point is obviously didn t.
He may have been a by in college that Derrick Rose for you because college Derrick Rose before then the injuries.
That was a different type of player.
I know you can't stop him going to the basket.
And he's so explosive.
The only thing that stopped college d rose was a Mariel Chalmers.
Ah, Hail Mary was only thing that stopped heroes.
So someone who I think can go tit for tat for D Rose is for senior college basketball.
We came out to his song.
So when we ran out onto the court so it definitely go with John Wall.
Um, un riel good at Kentucky for Cal? Um, yeah, not much to say for John Wall.
He speaks for himself.
So I definitely think I won that point guard matchup right there.
I mean, John Wall's fast, but I don't think he's really getting by Derrick Rose and Derrick Rose is so acrobatic at the bucket he's still getting Yeah, we don't even need to name the rest of the team of one on one college D Rose first John Wall.
That would be great.
Great for the viewers.
You want to give your other guard nice.
Do you want me to go? Yeah, I'll give my guard My My next card is more of a recent coach cow guy Gago, Jamal Murray do Chisholm.
Mykolaiv can create his own shot.
And I love giving John Wall has his distributor.
Yeah, they're both a little ball heavy.
Definitely need the ball more.
But, um, I'm definitely taking my boy Jamal Murray.
We can see what he does.
We saw what he did at Kentucky, so he led that team when he was only focal point there.
Um, he didn't really have the big guys around him like the other Kentucky teams have.
And Damo Mary might have been a microwave, but, uh, I got another guy who's just as much of a my grave in Devin Booker.
When Booker gets hot, you can't stop him.
And he played on one of the deeper Kentucky team, So you didn't see him as much, but ah, when he was on the court, he is He is almost impossible to guard.
I was about to say Ah, least my shooting guard was a starter was gonna be my retort to that one.
But college Devin Booker didn't get the credit.
He was due because of how deep that team was.
And, um, we saw him the 1st 2 seasons. An MBA.
He really grew into his body because he was drafted in 19 years old.
So if we're talking college Devin Booker, I think Jamal Murray def definitely has the upper advantage there.
But I can't knock that because I was thinking of going Devin Booker in that spot when I was making my tea.
You got is your small four I small forward.
I went with, um, I went with college.
For some reason, I thought I remembered him as a Kentucky guy, but he was still in use and he was a guy who carried that torch.
I think it was right after D Rose left.
I was it right before it was right out of D.
Euros left and my guy who I got coming up, he had to replace him.
Either way, he was that nice guy for Cal, who kept what people would usually assume is the mid major in Memphis as one of the top teams in the country.
Even though people might say he flamed out a little bit in the n b A.
He was unsolvable in college.
Yeah, Tyreke Evans was a Philly boy, so I definitely gotta show him the love.
Their, um definitely like him.
He was definitely a point small for a little bit out there, But he was a guy that could definitely control when they needed to being large in college.
So he was definitely at Memphis.
When, um, are they in conference USA back when Cow is there? Yeah.
They were selling Conference USA 18 eso Tyreke Evans just looked like a bully against some of the guys he was going up against, but who I think was a bigger bully and who Tyree came in to replace history quiz.
There's a freshman and he was a one.
And Dung is ah cdr.
If you guys don't remember Christopher Douglas Roberts, he was a great guy to watch at Cal in, uh, in Memphis three year starter his first season.
It took a little bit to get on the room, but in his 2nd 2 seasons, he dropped 15 points a game and then 18 points a game, and he was d roses.
Ah, Robin, if you really want to call it, call him that just because of how good D Rose was, but I got definitely have CDR in my lineup.
If I'm going with the Coach Cal team at a small four.
Yeah, I feel like he was.
He was definitely a good defensive player.
He had the length he was able to score for him, but I don't know in like a guy would.
Coach Count went to stay three years.
Uh, I mean, how Algar and how good is he? I feel like Coach College trying to get the best guys and get him out of there after a year.
If he doesn't feel comfortable with the guy after year, one I use is he was his glue guy that knew he was the culture guy.
He kept them all around, kept them all going together.
So cdr is my glue guy in my line up? Yeah.
Uh, would you Who's your other forward? Um, this was the tough one, because it's hard to say what position? Ah, my four in my Centerplate because they're interchangeable.
And one player who I really want to put in my lineup.
He's also interchangeable as well with boogie.
But a bogey didn't make my lineup because, um, gotta go with a D over bogey.
Anthony Davis on my power for, um, the brow.
That's where he got famous much Harrier and stronger when he was at Kentucky before you got the money to make it look all good.
But on the Browett, Kentucky was a monster.
Yeah, Yeah, he waas I mean, was no.
He wasn't on the team that lost to UConn.
That was after that, right? He way it was Julius Randle Studio was there? Yeah.
I mean, he was dominant when he was there, but I got a guy who's just as dominant but again played on one of the deepest Kentucky teams, so he wasn't getting as many minutes as he deserved.
I went with, I went with another really good scoring forward as my other forward, another guy who's interchangeable technically.
But college basketball reference had him listed as a forward.
So I'm throwing a minutes of forward.
I went with Karl Anthony towns as my other forward, just like a guy who does everything you need on offense.
Cal didn't have them shoot threes, but obviously he's got the jumper to shoot from distance, and he is amazing touch on the inside that.
I just thought he definitely deserved a spot here over bookie.
I'll know, man, I was definitely what? Boogie over cat.
But I know it's 80.
Defense is not what he's going to write home about, but he's definitely gonna be able to control Cat in that aspect because Cat is soft.
You might be a little soft the eighties thing.
Give Katz looking at him.
He's and he knows I can still get boards over this guy.
There is a much skinnier guy that gave Cat the business in the n b A.
This past season, so I'm not worried about scrawny uh, a D.
I don't feel like a day at least to get down there as much anymore.
You develop that three point shot.
He's I'm Obama point forward now, and cats Kate depend that whatsoever.
So he's just gonna be the biggest liability on defense, which will what we've seen with the T Wolves.
So you got your center to save Cat's ass time after time.
My center is possibly the most athletic big man coach Cal has had, and he's showing it now that he's getting a chance, more of a chance, an MBA I went with them out of bio as, ah center.
Maybe you could call him a power forward and have him play 80.
But is that he is that true big man that's gonna get bored.
She's gonna throw down lobs.
He's gonna he's gonna finish around the rim, He's gonna do all the dirty work And how old is outmuscle almost whoever he wants to get rebounds.
Well, I love bam.
Definitely can't hate that pick with bam.
But it's a shame that you didn't go with the guy that won the consensus National College Player of the Year award.
The guy that you could make an argument that put Coach Cow on the map, the one that got him everything he needed.
And that is in the college world.
I know for guys our age, we didn't get the watch in life, but go back and watch the Marcus Camby tape Use it all.
American 8 10 Player of the year.
Number two overall pick.
After coming out, Marcus Camby was a beast at u Mass for Coach Cal.
Well, you mean the guy that got Coach Cal in trouble at U Mass.
That same guy got him in trouble but also got him his college career that no one really brings up about anymore.
It's all hush hush now because it's in the nineties.
Yeah, I mean, can be is a Connecticut guy.
I always got low for him, but I don't think he compares to Band.
So for a team Stephen, we got D Rose, Devin Booker, Tyreke Evans, Cat and Bam.
Solid five there and then for Team Rex for coach Cal players, I got John Wall, Jamal Murray CDR.
80 and Marcus Camby.
Those were some pretty fire lineups anyone would be dying to watch.
A game of those guys, even at their age, is right now, even though Marcus Camby's old we would still like to see these guys strap it up and go at it.
Yeah, I feel like it's almost tough to have a bad team when you're doing just five guys from Coach Cal.
Yes, definitely has all the talent in the world, so that is college game breakers episode to my name's Rex.
