as old ladies and gentlemen to day here on SportsCastr, I will be covering a Fox Sports article from my Florida Panthers on interview with Joel Quenneville, New Florida Panthers head coach.
And when I say new not that new but new this season.
It's his fourth season as a float, Obando said, Coach, and right now he's not.
Coaching is just hanging out with his family, because so the NHL, in other sports or on a positive to Kobe 19.
So I'm covering a Fox Sports article here on sportscast on.
I'm gonna share my screen, show you this interview.
What, You're going to go from this house.
We're gonna hear what him and the Panthers have been doing doing this quarantine and, uh, the likeliness of resuming back to the rink.
So let me first tell you some background about George Carlin girl.
He is the second on the all time win list for any Joe cultures.
Seconds that is amazing behind Scotty Bowman.
He won't break that record.
Scotty Bowman, his hands down the best NHL coach ever, but my favorite stroke credible because he's now the head coach of my Florida Panthers.
Yes, that's my local team, so I like them.
This is the closest major sport through my house 20 minutes away.
And, yeah, I was happy to go to his 9/100 win game.
I went to the game where he got 900 wins.
So you can see that here.
Yeah, it was a night of it.
Where when I went to see Joe, Carnival is up.
Veteran coach against second NHL or time winless.
That is amazing.
So I'm gonna share my screen.
We're gonna get this interview on my screen.
I'm gonna break down the interview.
Um, just re say some good points.
Quotable Man on this is really Moeller broadcaster for Fox Sports Florida interviewing joke wanted girl again.
This is a Fox sports article.
I am covering you on sports Casto.
I asked about the SportsCastr chat, so I'm gonna be looking at that.
Thank you for Dale for joining.
So let's get started.
I'm gonna share my screen and get this interview on the screen.
Okay, so here is the interview for Joel Coen.
Annville again covering this on SportsCastr.
So you guys can see we're gonna get this interview started.
This is a 15 minute video.
So it's gonna be about a 20 minute broadcast.
So let's get started.
Ladies and gentlemen, let's play this video.
Hello, everybody, and welcome to another of Inside the Panthers Home Edition.
Brought to You by Baptist Health.
We've had an opportunity here on Fox Sports Florida to talk to a number of the Panthers over the last number of weeks, and we're very excited to have a special guest once again here and inside the Panthers and is the head coach of your Florida Panthers, that Joel Quenneville and a Q.
Good to see you and how you been.
Good to see you, Randy, and been fine.
You know, it's been a interesting process like the whole world is dealing with right now, and we're in Florida for about five weeks there.
Six weeks and we came a Chicago around Easter, time to see the kids and, um, so just one point Joel Quenneville made, he said he's up in Chicago.
That's where he spent most of his coaching career.
That's what he got on three Stanley Cup ones and his career as a coach.
You got three standing upwards, and those are all on the Chicago Blackhawks just wanted to put that out there.
So since he's been on the thing, he coaching the Chicago Blackhawks for a long time since, you know, courted all been coaching the Black Ox for most of his coaching career, his family's there.
So he went back.
My man, Dakota here in the SportsCastr chat.
That's really great.
So much appreciated.
Let's resume this interview without Florida Panthers head coach Joel Quenneville.
Um, how things were progressing.
It seems like there's a little bit more enthusiasm about get back together again.
And I started escape and, uh, chance of resuming gets excited right now, that's for sure.
Well, while we're in this pause, maybe take us through a typical day in the household of the Queen Bills, Well, it's quiet.
We got the big dogs here.
One of our dogs is coming close to, uh, you know, he's played ah, long career and he's he's coming close to the finish line, so we've been taking care of him, and the dog was busy.
Um, we've been, uh, when we're in Florida, we're doing a lot of outdoor stuff on our bikes and that keep ourselves better condition here in a little bit cooler and around here lately.
And so we've been, you know, we work out in the house here on the generally get the horse racing starts in the middle of the afternoon with our coaches.
We, uh we're thinking hockey at the same time.
Lipids hockey games on the T B is Wells.
Old games in the past watch, but a little bit interest from what? Watching her teams play from before and then seeing how we're going to turn that our mindset, we play today.
And, um, you know, I talked to some of the players along the way here keeping ourselves in tune, and, uh, following up with some of the staff was part of it as well.
Well, I want to follow up on that.
You've kept in contact probably with your leadership group by the Florida Panthers.
Some of the some of the leaders on your team.
What's your message? What's the conversation like? Just basically catching up on how they're doing both physically and mentally, Yeah, see how they're doing.
Other families are how you're adapting to the situation here.
It seems like everybody's got a good frame of mind.
Everybody's doing whatever they can themselves in the best shape to come back and play could be very important.
Games was kind of the same message when we left in Dallas.
That red at the end of it, Um and so the guys seemed like you're in a pretty good, uh, at least in Florida.
It seems like there's a lot of opportunity to do a little bit more, Uh, whether you get your training outside and you know, we did some good things, like gave a lot of the guys and stuff to work with and, uh, in home, uh, training a different method.
Some guys have been rollerblading as new roller blade techniques as well is going on.
Um, everybody's got their own little regimen and how their training and how they're doing.
But there's a good follow up with Mike, and everybody seems to be on that path of doing whatever they can to put themselves in good shape.
That's guys here in Europe that have been A few guys have been on the ice, and the guys that were, uh, injured.
They've been doing everything they can, and we got a clean bill of health touch wood right now that everybody's ready to go, Uh, if we're able to be so and you just mentioned about some of the injured players, I guess one of the big questions fans want to know is so sorry.
Before we get back through this interview, this one make a point here.
This break for Joe, according votes.
Interesting to see what he's been doing because he's been coaching for over 20 years.
That's why he's second NHL's all time cultured wins list.
He hasn't experienced this, so it suddenly new for him who was a veteran coach.
When I say that on yes, 10 plus years, coaching is veteran 20 plus years, that is amazing.
Let's continue the health of the status of Sergei Bobrovsky.
Chris Trigger was playing excellent hockey and giving your team a chance to win right up and tell the pause.
And that's maybe an update on Sergei Bobrovsky.
You say he's pretty well, 100% that Bob is so before he answers that question.
Randy Moller, who was on the left, and the Red Panther Sure he is asking Joe Carter Bill about the injury status of the Panthers goalie was also do like Joe Quenneville.
Both avid out the beginning of the season.
Sergei Bobrovsky, who was on the Columbus Blue Jackets last year bringing the Blue Jackets to the playoffs the second round.
They were the eighth seed in a upset and sweat the Tampa Bay Lightning, who were the first scene in last year's playoffs in the first round.
So Sergei Bobrovsky make sure that happens.
But this year on the Panthers, he hasn't been that good, and not just because of his injuries.
Who Randy Melo is talking about.
He just had ineffectiveness.
Has not been that such a good goalie.
Maybe he'll be a good goalie if he's all healthy, and we'll see if he's or healthy.
Let's see what the pants off is that coach Joel Quenneville says about so gave a Rockies injury status.
I was ready to go.
You know, Bob's always does Amazing.
Uh, set of ah is rigorous preparation toe how he prepares to play and how he trains in the off season.
Um, and he's got his, uh, you know, he's added some different ways to keep himself prepared to come back, and whether it's uh, visually and then does a lot of stuff.
Uh, you know, whether it's technically, how he does his routine, will say, because its a unique um, but he's he's been training hard.
He's fresh, he's good.
Uh, he's happy about where he's that he's looking forward, an opportunity to get back plan.
What is the first time we've been able to catch up with you, Joel? And right before the pause, I believe and I think you mentioned as well your team was really starting to come into their own.
And, uh, and after the trade deadline, you're really happy with your four? Yeah, he says that they've been on a row Salander season Stop row.
The last game, Um, the the last game that the Panthers played before this Corona virus break was against the ST Louis Blues, who currently, um and during that game had the first seed in the Western Conference, and there are the reigning standing up champions and the Panthers beat them.
What a win that Waas and sadly, that moment, some stuff.
But when the parent was come back there, say, Well, we're coming off a good last game, which was a few months ago because marijuana when the Senate is gonna resume.
But even if the Panthers are able to play again, look, if it goes straight to the playoffs and it's the normal amount of teams making the playoffs, the Panthers wouldn't make it.
There's been talks up the and Gary Bettman wants tours during the season, he says.
There's no talks that that that Angel is just gonna end their season with the MBA and Adam Silver. Yes, there is.
But with NHL commissioner Gary Bettman, he says playoffs or resume in the regular season.
So that is that.
But anyway, Pampers last game, coming up a good one against the reigning Stanley Cup champions and the number one seed in the Western Conference to Santos Blues.
Your six defense, Of course, we mentioned about Chris Treeger, playing some of the best hockey has won two straight points and three straight looking back and I know you've watched those games.
What was the reason why you believe your team took the next step going into that stretch run with 13 14 games left in the season? Ready to look back at it and I looked at.
We come up that awful stretch where we really put ourselves in a tough spot there at home scheduled and you lost those consecutive games there.
And, you know, we had a talk with our team.
We we looked at well, how we can be more consistent and how we can be competitive on a game to gain basis.
And and, uh, you know, we asked the players what what we need to do, Um, as a group.
And, you know, we had as a coaching staff, we would look that identified what key areas for what we had to do to put ourselves in the right path to get back in that playoff mix.
And, you know, the players came up with some good ideas and good awareness to what we got to do as players, as a group of climb on the ice and on.
And then we're looking at not just how you had to play, but things that could make this a better team and harder team to play against.
And I thought the guys were really good.
On what? That there was some real good discussions on what we had to do.
I thought we played that type of hockey, which gives you more of a chance to, ah, win games.
I think that approach that outscoring opponents game in game out is a hard thing to do, particularly if you want to win games down the stretch in the playoffs.
There's gotta be a priority and how you play a team defensive game and guys made a commitment, that awareness.
And it's in all three zones that playing with doing it the right way is, uh is is really gonna enhance their team's chances of winning games.
And that commitment was noticeable.
I thought there was seemed like all four lines were doing the right things and that we felt like there was a our defensive looking like we're probably more engaged around our net.
We had a little bit, uh, made a little.
We're, uh, topper for teams to travel, and I think that's a something that I thought that he loosened up A Z year went on and then it got a little bit periods of time where you know we have to do something that really gets our attention where we can make it an awareness that hey we can't give up these type of goals, and you could look at goaltending, but I think around him, we have to do a better job of but clear in that area in taking up that space.
I gotta go. I gotta statement for you now.
So we still have one more time and interview left.
But I'm just looking at the SportsCastr Jack Dale continuing to watch and Lian.
So I pronounce your name off.
Thank you for joining Super Sam.
I know you left, but a few laps to reply.
Thank you for joining.
I want to see if if you agree the Panthers at the trading deadline, they get Eric Hollow, Lucas walmart and then the promotion as well of Alexey Sorrow and then the health in the return of Mackenzie weaker.
Do you agree that those, uh, those four players really solidified what you were trying to accomplish going into this last stretch? And what impacted those players give your hockey club and give them an opportunity to win on a nightly basis? Well, that's part of it.
I think that's a depth we had.
I think that awareness of playing with a locked reach like you mentioned couple times.
He was really part of that as well, really gave the group confidence, and I think that that weeks came back on.
Do you know he had a great stretch of games there at a big chunk of the early part of the year? Injury problems slowing down a bit, but I thought he came back.
He really added a nice mixed him and act playing together.
That's a real nice pair of both defensive theon offensively.
If you look at the guys up front, you get a couple sentiment that play for us, and all of a sudden there playing in four minutes, they got a defensive side to their game.
They've got some balance offensively as well.
Um, you know, Cyril A came in there.
Uh, he looks like he can help us down the road.
He looks like he's got some skills.
He's got a tremendous shot.
Little deception to a lot of people.
Don't know this kid that all of a sudden that, uh, you know, with a little bit more opportunity as a nice little offensive type of weapon.
But I think he's got some other parts of his game.
He's got some, he thinks a game pretty well.
Um, you know, all I I think came in in coming in the ads, that type of an element where you can play him in all situations gives you a little bit of energy.
Um, like that he did a good job.
Lucas gets came along and he was He was You know, I think he's one of those steady guys that live a reliable guy.
Good faceoff circle.
Um, each and every guide in their own way added a little bit more and made us a little deeper.
Um, I thought that we had a little bit more balance in our lines.
We configured them there, down the stretch there in a couple of those games.
Ah, you know, I think that seems like when you look at their lines, it's almost like when you break up marquee and you be there's a little bit more.
When you get those guys on different lines, it's almost like it seems like there's a little bit more balance offensively as well as offensively.
We're gonna switch gears here.
This is a question.
So, by the way, I just wanna still gave me more back up background information about Panto, said Cold store Quenneville.
You could compare room to the Bill Bella check and John Shula of NFL.
It's just one thing I want to say.
Next question coming up.
We have, ah, five minutes left in this interview question that we've asked the players during inside the Panthers.
Head coach Joel Quenneville joins us and not what, if any, interests.
And you you mentioned horse racing.
You've always been a horse racing fan, any interests or hobbies that you have discovered or rediscovered during this pause that, you know, like some players there, started cooking for the first time and and that some players were talking about that.
They've taken up Lego, and then you've always got some Netflix and and video games and that anything interesting that you can share with us.
Well, I never seen Netflix.
I don't know how to use it and relaxed any iPhone Dunnett lift before all this and it gives this You gotta watch this.
Hey, that's like Bilbo checking and I compare on him.
Tow Bill Belichick of the NFL because they just or tremendous coaches, they have tremendous brains and you're up there on the whole time Coach wins for the NFL in any Joe, and they both don't know how to use technology.
Well, so he doesn't know how to use Netflix.
But, hey, I'm fine with that.
As long as you're a good NHL coach, let's resume this.
You gotta watch this show.
You gotta what? Doctor, You can't.
You gotta see the show.
So it was on how to watch.
A little bit of it is kind of it was thing.
And then we watched one.
We watched another out.
Siri's the other day.
It's pretty intense was watch Fatah.
I never want, You know, I never I've never watched a repeat of any Siri's.
I don't watch a lot of those type of shows, and over you're short on content that it's either.
You know, you're always watching hockey games or you're watching sports and horse racing it, but, uh, I definitely watch a lot of horse racing, and it's been quiet.
Milk is used to have five or 689 tracks, sometimes on Saturdays.
Now you only got two or three.
Yeah, it's really surreal how we're living our lives now.
Um, last question here.
The coaching fraternity in the National Hockey League is close, yet it is evolving.
You're one of the dean of the coaches in the NHL is a better you keep in touch with some of your coaches that, you know.
And if you do, what are the things that you're discussing during this pause? Well, we talked a lot of the guys, um, whether their head coaches assistant coaches are other capacities, you know, around the game.
Um, and we have a lot off whalers that are still out there that we bump in the watch quality owner, Uh, I think we even had one of these calls and eso, you know, it's like whether you're, I think, in talking about the likelihood, you know, there's so many things that when you look back at how we're going to resume play, I think that's what you talk about.
How how's it gonna look? It was a lot of everybody's got an idea expect, you know, speculation.
What's gonna happen? And you know, there's a lot of wait and see, and there's a lot of things that they gotta be right before we can return.
But that's usually discussion and what happens when you come back? How you gonna do it, Captain? Will look like you know.
You gonna How do you want to do it? Uh, you want to do it in here together? How you want to have your meetings going forward.
So we'll talk about as a staff.
Uh, pretty soon Today on Ben as you go along, You know, you talk about everything you talk about, you know, usually just talk about you know, how you're going to deal with the training camp in the situation, on getting back into the type of season it and then, uh, everybody's got an idea how they would be kind of a neat format.
But everybody talks about having more teams in a playoff mix way.
We used to have 16 teams in a class with 21 teams.
Now we got 16 teams in a class and got 31 teams.
So it's a uh yes.
So that's a good point He made again.
NHL commissioner Gary Bettman says the possibility at 24 teams make the playoffs.
It's fair because some teams, such as the Panthers, who ended the season two games out if visiting continued.
Maybe they would have made up in two games and made the playoffs.
So obviously, I'd be at because I'm a Panthers fan and I would make the playoffs.
And especially quantity would be happy.
You want to seem to make the playoffs.
Our interview even left a za fan as a coach, I think making blouses ever never more challenging it is today.
Um, that's something something to think about.
You got a year like this year where you got a lot of uncer*****y.
Might be, you know, be nice to maybe try stuff like that.
Well, I know Panther fans are excited.
The team was hitting their stride right before the pause, and hopefully we're back sooner than later.
In the meantime, Coach, thank you very much for joining us here on inside the Panthers at home. Addition.
Ah, hope your family stay safe and well, and hopefully we see you very, very soon.
Ready? Well, all right. Thank you so much.
Head Coach Joel Quenneville joins us on this edition of inside the Panthers at home Edition one or thank back to sell for allowing us to bring this to you.
for all of us here. Clock sports.
I'm Randy Moller will talk to you next time on inside the Panthers.
Okay, that was a great interview with head coach of the Florida Panthers Joe Corner, Bill.
And yep, he added.
I mean, look, he's coached over 20 years.
He's never dealt with this, but he's a better on coach, and I expect him so keeping Panthers in good shape in a Hopefully, if they make the playoffs or if they resume to the regular season, the Panthers roll up.
So uh, yeah, just interesting, even if you don't like, want ability.
But if you don't care about the Florida Panthers, it's interesting to hear about AH, head coach and what he's doing during quarantine.
Um, because no one has experienced this before.
Any heck of especially him, who was one of the order? Said coaches and been coaching for the longest? So I am, I said, gentlemen, here on SportsCastr Granite of You here on SportsCastr, covering inside the Panthers at home video with head coach joke wanted real happy, a dive in to talk about that interview again.
It's always good to hear an interview with the head coach.
The head of the team? Yes, the Golden is the head of the team, but actually the coach.
The coach didn't talk charge of the goal, and the goal is not in charge of his teammates, but he the goal He does decides who wins with who loses because he has a bad game.
Likely, the team loses, but there it is.
Hechos joke wanted Bill again.
Second on Angel's or time coach winless and three Stanley Cup was hoping to get the fourth went on the Florida Panthers.
I'm buys again, Um, and follow man.
Trudeau eyes a gentleman.
Well, man, Instagram, I get out sports.
