Of course, you know that when it's Rex and Steve and coming at you talking about some college people.
So as of right now, we are introducing this as a live cast.
Hopefully, we'll move this to a podcast shortly in the future.
But as of right now, because we love talk about college tubes, it's Friday night we got a beer in hand.
It's a good time to talk about some college.
Choose from the break down.
You can follow us on Twitter at the underscore Burek a d WN.
Um, that's the breakdown we have you covered.
We had some horses come out this week.
If you want to bet to Santa Anita tomorrow races.
Jake got you covered there.
We got some college football in baseball action up there as well.
So whatever you want.
And, of course, the boom.
This league is back.
So we got some pics on there, too, so check us out.
We're just not college basketball, but that's where Steven on buy are gonna focus this week.
I went to ST Jews, was a diehard ST Joe's basketball fan.
So that's my allegiance.
If you haven't been following us before.
What's up? Steered? Not much.
I guess we're both from that Northeast area because I'm sure already knows I'm gonna Yukon fan.
But, I mean, you could follow me at Stephen C to 26.
I'm gonna have all the college basketball information to go along with you.
Information and yeah, I'm just ready to get back.
I'm so ready to get back into a tie, I guess.
Or you the live cast right now.
But I can't wait.
Yes, so hopefully ah, the current situation and all that stuff is going on will not delay the college basketball season.
So we're coming at you nice and early.
We got a few segments coming up.
We're breaking it out for you.
So, uh, without further do well, let's get into our first segment.
We're gonna, uh, in the 1st 1 talk about any general news that happened in this past week.
We're going to try to do this weekly.
Many transfers at people who entered the transfer portal and coaching changes.
I doubt the re many coaching changes to discuss as most teams or solidified.
There's three vacant areas right now, but those are very, very small major schools.
I love my mid majors, but those air, even in the smaller conferences for May.
So I'm the first thing we're going to talk about is, um, I don't know if you heard about this Steven in the previous week, but the NCH dropping three of the five factors it's evaluating for the tourney.
So they're only gonna worry about Team Value Index.
And everyone obviously knows what that means off the top of their head.
But essentially just they're, ah, grating you now on beating quality opponents.
That might hurt your small schools, who, if they are taking out three factors and one of the main two factors air going in.
It's beating quality opponents.
That could definitely hurt the smaller schools.
And the second factor that they're leaving in this DEA Justin that efficiency rating.
So it's basically rating your strength of your opponent and where you beat them, so they're obviously going to fake a favor.
Road wins heavier in this strategy, What do you think about this? I hate it so much because I hate seeing those, like average power conference schools that are going to get in for beating Lee getting like Warner two upsets in a year.
It's just gonna make it that much easier for the N C a.
Have the reason to, ah, put them in over the small schools who go probably maybe only have one or two losses in conference, but they're like 25 5 and they're not going to get in because it just these two factors that they're factoring in now.
So I'm not a fan, but it's the N C A a what do you Are you gonna dio? Yes, that this definitely does look like a move to reward the larger school squads.
And I'm not a fan of that will definitely have to see.
Um, it's a shame that we didn't get the this last season would have been the perfect one. The judge offices.
Now we're going to be heavy and foggy.
Five year memory going back another season to think of the latest teams that made it in Go back and Jake gauge if they would have made it in with this update.
It ranking toe, pair.
With that, they're updating the strength of schedule Even more to favor the baby.
Your strength of schedule is now gonna be reflected on how difficult they're gonna sign a score of a sign of game score.
Teach one of how difficult it was to beat your opponent.
So once again, big schools went out here.
I mean, that's what it's always gonna be, cause NC double.
It doesn't want to see that players get money, but they'll do everything they can to get the biggest names.
And so they make the most money.
So this is really strange.
Dropped it this week was kind of sneaky.
Just because this really hasn't been making the headlines that I expected it to be, um, definitely gonna have to see what comes up in this upcoming season Of how much of an effect this place into it.
Um, one of our next moves is the Mac.
They're eliminating their conferences.
Are the divisions within the conferences which I love? It's just gonna be one large standing.
Um, the top eight will go to the conference tourney at the end of the season in Cleveland, and they'll have will be updating it to 20 conference games due to removing the divisions.
I'm a big fan of when there's not the divisions within the conferences, makes it easier said than one side doesn't get favorite.
If there's ah, um of with a better see just because if they have that in football, it's more relevant.
If a team's five and three on the one side and got two teams on the other side, they're seven and one.
You're going to see that weaker team make it in there.
What do you think about this? Yeah, you know, I mean, I'm intrigued by it.
I know a bunch of the bigger schools are not bigger schools.
Bigger conferences have gone to the same type of thing with the 20 conference games and everything.
I think the Mac is like the first real light, what you would call a mid major that had the divisions that switch into it.
So I think it's gonna be interesting to see, but I think it will lead the better conference tournaments because you're definitely getting the eight best every year.
But yeah, that's just a concern with the top two things that we talked about previously were now there.
If the Mac, you never have a powerhouse coming out the Mac, the Mac usually and gets their conference winter and every every year, Now that you have the harder criteria to make it, it's really going to come down to that conference winner.
Yeah, that's one of the things that I think could be bad for moving to the 20 conference games.
Cause if you're adding more conference games against what the committee might call Week our opponents where you could have scheduled, like power five teams to try to build your resume is just gonna make it that much harder for schools that already have a tough time trying to get in.
Yep, So that will be something Monitor coming up this season.
Let's get into some transfer talk now.
Maybe one of the quickest transfers from a school committing to a school.
No nojel Eastern.
Um the senior is leaving Purdue immediately eligible and is transferring to Michigan.
He was a starter in the last two seasons.
He was a solid guy on the defensive end, and as of right now, talking about Purdue.
Before you go into Michigan Purdue, it will be lacking a big guy on the inside.
And they won't have any seniors on the roster.
So we'll have to see what they're doing there in that area going into Michigan.
I love this move from Michigan.
They probably had this planned up, obviously.
Why The commit came so fast after he, um, came away from Purdue with livers and Simpson in there and he's gonna be the guy in the middle.
Adding a senior guy to next the Wagner as well.
Could definitely see a good Michigan squad next year.
Yeah, you could.
It would have been better if they didn't lose.
Well, there's his name.
I don't remember, but they had a Michigan had a top 10 guy who was supposed to commit there.
And then you left, which nojel Eastern is nothing to be able to fill that void for them, which is massive.
But for do this really hurts Because they lost us.
They lost both their front court guys.
Yeah, because Eastern's gone and they lost Matt Harms.
Who went to you? Are you? Yes.
So I mean this could.
I mean, produce always been good at developing big men.
It seems like so I don't know how much trouble they're really being, but it'll definitely be a tough start for the season for them without their two main guys on the inside.
Yes, definitely gonna test their death.
But I really like what you want.
Howard did definitely gonna be, Ah, good season for Michigan.
Coming up next one, um, we got Mac Mac long toe enter the transfer portal.
Technically, he's withdrawing from the n b a draft because he did declare for the draft.
He is leaving Georgetown, currently uncommitted MK Long, if you haven't seen, is ah, high flying Slasher also can shoot from the outside but loves to get to the rim and finish on the inside and can definitely throw one down.
Fun fact, He's refracts, cousin.
But now this is around the third to fifth player to transfer from Georgetown from the start of last season until now.
So I'll know what's going on with Ewing and the culture there.
But I'm a lot of the guys seem to be leaving the dorm.
A clone was the guy that helped them together last season.
Went. All of them transferred out.
It's Ah, I think it was gonna be a tough year for George found in the Big East.
But wherever Mike Long decides to go is getting.
That's a huge get from wherever he goes.
I'm not sure who has that really like shooting guard slashing, shooting guard type need right now, but he's going to come in and be an instant factor.
Yeah, he's not, uh, eligible immediately.
He's applying for the waiver to be.
So there is the possibility he could sit out this season if it doesn't get approved.
So that's something to know.
So we might be one season without McClellan.
By home, he is officially transferring the last one.
Maybe not the biggest name on there, but so on who Stephen said would be an instant impact is going to be Romeo White.
He's e ah, Kermit has got on that Ole Miss are Yes, from the Arizona Grad, the Arizona State grad transfer.
He's definitely going to be a starter in that lineup there, so I think that's a huge get Yeah, home is definitely had their struggles scoring the ball and definitely stopping.
They had trouble stopping good teams and having Romelo White, who's a grad transfer who played under Bobby Hurley, who was a great defender in college.
Well, he knows how to play defense, and he should be able to solidify that backcourt on the defensive end for Ole Miss.
Yep, so I like that move there that rounds up our transfer talk.
And one just last note before we move into our next segment is due to all the cir***stances act going on teams air looking to schedule more local opponents.
We could definitely see some more in state robberies or right across the border state robberies.
So that's definitely going to be one thing to watch this season if if there's the potential that there wouldn't be fans, which would be the biggest shame for college basketball, cause that's the whole atmosphere.
But I'm I always like when college schools play their local opponents more.
Yeah, I would love to see more of those I since since you can't let the Big East, we haven't playing as many of the big schools that border us.
So if we got to go back to that, if you got to see like Providence and even like Rutgers this year.
And like I even like a like ST Johns, Penn State's kind of far out.
But still, that's close enough, like those type of games.
I'd love to wash those, but, um, we got we got a lot of There've been a lot of coaching lose the past couple of years, and we're going to take a look at some of the biggest name 212 hour schools who are looking to turn around their programs this year.
And the main one that jumped out to me automatically was Eric Musselman.
He's going into its second year at Arkansas.
Are Yeah, this is gonna be a second year coming up in Arkansas, coming from Nevada, a school that I wouldn't necessarily say he relied them because they were all right before you got there.
But he turned them into much more of a power than they were before.
And he's doing the same thing this year with ah, recruiting class they brought in.
Let me see who they got again.
The fill the time while you're bringing it up.
The biggest thing with muscleman because I wrote an article on him for the breakdown last season about his transfer.
Nevada was no are.
Once you moved there, Nevada was known as transfer you.
So the one thing with Arkansas is you have the money you have.
The resource is you have.
Let's see muscleman recruit and Stephens about the Tell us how much Muscleman has shown that he's just not a transfer guy.
He can recruit the guys that are coming in from high school.
Yeah, I mean, he was driving on the roads, driving on the transfers in Nevada, considers his best route, have his best teams.
And now that he's on a power school where he can do his recruiting, you can bring in pretty much wherever he wants.
He got two out of the three best players in the state of Arkansas this past year, so he knows how to keep his talent in his state, which is good.
And then he went out to two of the biggest high school powers in the country, and he got Moses Moody, a great score from Montford, who was absolutely dominant this year.
He got KK Robinson from Oak Hill Academy, another one of those schools.
It just turns out high level college basketball players and having those two guys either lead the backcourt or come off the bench because Arkansas does have some good guards coming back.
This is a team that's going to make some noise.
They're gonna be not.
Maybe not the top top, because I'm not there at that Kentucky level yet, But they're gonna be one of those top three or four teams in the SEC this year.
That should definitely be in the tournament.
Yeah, Moses Moody definitely is a guy that watch for this season.
If he's a name, he not heard of Isaiah.
Isaiah Joe is probably going to be ahead of him unless they played both of them as like a guard forward together, since they're both the same exact size.
But I'm watching for Moody toe.
Have an instant impact this season and definitely contribute over five points, I would say, but not as much as double digits yet in his freshman year.
But definitely, definitely look for him to have be coming off the bench or potentially starting towards the end of the season.
Yeah, the biggest thing with argon size.
I think Isaiah Joe hasn't pulled his name out of the N B a draft yet because I know he entered his name in, like the going through the draft process.
And since they extended the date back, I don't think he's pulled out yet.
So there's a chance he might not be there, which maybe is not the trigger.
Yep, if he's not there those air right where those minutes are going.
So, um, just, ah remind you guys were talking about power five schools only in this part.
So these are power five schools where we think new coaches were going on their four seasons can make an instant impact.
I'm going with Jeff people from Pittsburgh, the old Duke assistant coach for all you who aren't familiar with that name.
Um, the The one reason I'm going with Pittsburgh is you can see he's changing around that basketball program.
On the first season when they were there, they only won 14 games and three of them in conference second season.
He he increases it to 16 games is only two wins over all but 13 more in the A C. C.
So that six ones you see him finally having that recruiting impact and being able to pull some guys in the A.
C C with Ah John Healey and William Jeffries coming in.
Stephen has one guy that I'm not going to mention coming in, that I know he likes coming in there.
So this project to be Capel's best team yet it's just third season.
I define a coach by what they do in their third season after after they've had two years of recruiting in there getting their guys in there.
So I definitely am I expecting pit, try to break that barrier and get even, UM, 500 in the wind in their conference games this year.
Yeah, I definitely think it's a team that could make start to make, not completely making jump, but start coming to jump in the A C C.
You don't go from the bottom of the top in that conference in one year, but they could definitely get back towards the middle easily.
And then I'm going with my school because Dan Hurley, still only going into his third year.
So there's really is that prove a year as they move into the Big East, Maybe in Homer pick fed you.
I the will won't put that to the people, and they will definitely agree that this is This is just a good pick.
But Hurley's bringing in top 20 recording class this year with Andre Jackson, who he's personally said, is head and shoulders.
The best athlete he's ever going to have coached, which is saying a lot with some of the players.
They got on that team right now, and they got a dominance in Ohio recently.
Who is going to help fill out that front court with a cook, a cook out with the Achilles and Tyler Polly, who might not be 100% at the start of the season? And he's never stretch for anyway.
But he's got depth everywhere he's got and his 1st 2 years he's already brought in.
I think he's brought in four top 100 words, but she had both night and a cook who were both top 100.
Why here? And Sanogo and Jackson are both top 60 this year.
Eso you can't get in that talent back and I expect them.
I mean, like, even my pessimistic expectations are there gonna be a top three or 14 in the Big East this year.
So that means start the season.
You think they're gonna be in the top 25? Uh, no, I think they might, but I think they'll probably be towards the bottom off.
Others receiving votes probably around like that 35 to 40 area to start the year.
And they might drop a little bit early in the year with such a young team.
But they're not a team you want to see in February, March, or any time after that.
Yet the one biggest aspect of coaching is one thing I like to see.
SSM early proved that he could develop talent your eye now that he can get the top talent and develop that talent, this is just a scary situation.
Ah, coming up for UConn trying to get back into the talk of the top schools and being ah, household basketball name again because it's been cool pretty quiet on that front recently.
My school I'm going to get into my second coach is Juwan Howard in Michigan, even though like Stephen said, they did lose one of their Kurt, the recruits that they were bringing in Juwan Howard's that name, and he has that pulling the reach.
Um, that is just He got Wagner last year.
Yeah, maybe it was the layup because his brother went there.
But I'm inspecting Juwan Howard to continue to bring in top guys.
He knows the talent.
He can definitely develop the talent there at Michigan.
The consistency throughout the season was his issue the first year of Michigan.
Because early on, you saw them firing off this season.
They may not have that one impact freshman that's going to do it, but I think long term Michigan is going Teoh, uh, skyrocket and be a household top 10 recruiting name going for it? Yeah, definite.
They're definitely gonna be up there, but I don't I don't know how much he is really going to be able to pull that top talent because it seems like a lot of them now, like the more players that are gonna go to like, the pros are gonna be the guys.
He's a recruiting, and if he loses them like he lost, I really want to say it was Mobley.
But I'm probably wrong is I think it's Isaiah.
Todd was the one who was who had a verbal commitment there and then left to sign that contract in the Geely.
But if he has more guys like that, I don't know how often he's gonna find to transfer portal to make up for it.
Yeah, I think just the name and the stature in the jump, man, Jordan is going to be able to pull that with that big name at Michigan.
I'm thinking they're going to see their top guys like Trey Burke coming back there.
But it's Michigan always get there, and then they'll always find a way to mess it up that way.
Well, we didn't say We'll win.
So I think you want.
Not that Michigan needs to be turned around, but 19 and 12 last season could need some turning around coming off two straight seasons.
Um, before that with under 10 total losses.
I mean, I'm looking at a team that's never really been known as like all basketball school.
By May oats going to Alabama was a pickup I loved for the Crimson Tide.
Like they deaf, they have.
They have talent there.
It's just been a problem with developing it which is why I love NATO's, because that's exactly what he did in Buffalo when he had them.
Is almost like, uh, he had somebody power Five teams did not want to play his last couple years there.
It's definitely made his name in the Mac with Buffalo.
What's causing havoc as a 12 seed in the tournament or 13? Sita's Buffalo? UM, won t hit what Stephen was saying.
There was before he was bringing in the talent, but that team consistently never broke through the SEC barrier and made that nice run that you thought he could do because there was great guys at Alabama basketball.
If you haven't been watching them, definitely check them out, especially with NATO's.
Now this team runs.
Still, they ran with Avery Jackson.
They're just running smarter and playing better defensively now.
Under NATO's, they might come snipping soon at L S U and Kentucky and Florida up there at the top.
But I think Alabama is definitely a basketball program to keep your eyes on.
Yeah, I mean, I love the guys that NATO's is bringing in because he's bringing in long athletic players who can play you can, pretty much all playing multiple spots on the floor, like out of his four commits to whom are listed as combo guards.
Probably Point are shooting guard types, but they're both 66 and then the other two guys are.
It's like small forward power forwards who are like 6768 with athleticism.
So I think he definitely wants to get that athletic team that's gonna run and just switch everything.
So I told you the tooth.
There's four things I look for in a school and especially in Coach, is the 1st 1 was recruiting.
The second was development.
Your 3rd 1 is the scheme.
What type of scheme are you running and what Stephen just said NATO.
It is getting the horses and the guy for his system.
You're getting athletic.
Guys are going get up and down the court and then just torment you on Deacon's.
And that's the way you're going to be Kentucky.
That's the way you're gonna beat Florida.
That's the way you're in B.
So I think NATO just definitely have, uh, aiming that program in the right direction.
Yeah, the last really the last school.
We're going to go within.
Our one is Oklahoma State.
I bet you guys weren't thinking your urine here, Mike Boyens name coming out here, but, um OK, state.
It's his fourth season.
So our he's entering his fourth season.
So that's on the barrier of our cuffs of what we're saying is freezing coaches.
But I'm putting this on the list just because I know Stephen wants to talk about Kate Cunningham.
This man air this point guard is was the top rate of point guard over on the class.
If you haven't watched his mixtapes are is tape.
So far, I'm not too sure what his weaknesses.
I know Mixtape shows you what They're good at his defensive and you don't really put defense.
And they're so much.
But he was finding guys Aaron giving them hoops at the rim.
He was hitting step back threes in your face, and then he was jamming on you at the same time.
Um, I'm gonna have a bull take after I let Stephen talk about it, but I think he coming in and Oklahoma State is going to be a team to be reckoned with in the Big 12 this year.
I am absolutely in love with watching Cade Cunningham play.
Having ah, point guard at his size.
They say he's listed at 66 but I've seen him listed anywhere from 66268 and that type of guy with his shot, his vision, his defense already is going to step in and show why he was a He was ranked anywhere between number one and number 30 overall in this class, and he's the type of guy, even more so than the last time.
Oklahoma State was really good with market smart.
He's even more of a version of somebody who's going to, ah, who's gonna lead them back to prominence.
So last season, I can admit I've watched about eight Oklahoma State games, life and throughout the full game because they're a team that I was betting on and betting against watching first.
I was betting for them because I saw this talent and, um, get really getting toe watch them minute by minute.
They're just lacking that true creator.
In that true score, they had a guy named by Lindsay, uh, waiters or waters.
I forget that Cornett, the correct pronunciation of his last name but he was the guy that they're looking to, and he was just a eso Joe just I'm just going to try to score and not involved.
My players, like ALS or like Lease is coming back with them and that pick and roll with Cunningham and him is something the watch for coming up.
I think I think Cunningham is going toe average over 15 points.
I want to say 20 coming up in this season Bomber and give him a solid 16 points for a game and this upcoming season, Um, and he's gonna hit the boards to He's gonna get to more than three rebounds again.
So definitely watch Arcade cutting him.
He could be your rookie or your freshman of the year.
Yeah, that's about I would definitely put my money on.
So you did not think you were going to hear some Oklahoma State in the debut College Breakers podcast from the breakdown.
Hey, you know, it's not that that's not as far out there as the team I'm about to go to next.
We got our everybody.
It doesn't matter if you're a mid major.
If you're even a smaller.
Even the mid major Steven.
I will watch your game and we'll watch you.
So for a night segment we like to talk about, we're gonna be talking about the two polar opposites of teams this past season.
We're gonna have a team, really showed out, and we're gonna have a team who seriously underperformed.
And I'm going to start out with the team really showed out in a very small conference because I'm going to the Atlantic Sun conference.
I'm about to talk to you guys about liberty flames, which is pretty much what they did.
All of their opponents is here.
They were to show did everybody.
And I mean, they did it with a really good group of seniors.
They These were guys who have been starting for them either since they transferred in our since they got recruited.
Their players like Caleb Homes, Lee, Scotty James.
But just those guys were such stables.
I always because those are always the first conference tournaments on, and I'd watch pretty much every single game of them and being from the Atlantic sun, the only game I knew from their report a Gulf coast.
So the watching them just get destroyed by Scotty James in the conference championship.
Every year was brutal, but I mean, these guys were They just dominated on both ends like they were killing people on the interior, shot 48% from the field, which was 12th in the country and then on the other.
And they were just locking down on people like they only let team score they only teams really made 38% of their shots against him, which was 11th in the country.
So when you got that and you're only given up 53 points a game, which was actually second best in the country, you're gonna have a good season, which showed by go in what they go.
They went 30 and four before the season got cut short.
I mean, that would that team would have been a force as an 11 or 12 seed in the tournament.
It's a shame that a squad like them would have gotten 11 or 12 seat tournament.
Like you said, they're putting the work on teams.
Um, they really didn't have any.
I want to say notable winds, but their best win was against Vandy.
They've got work by L s U.
So I was kind of rough for them.
But beating Bandy, who isn't the best school, but they ran out to 14 and no to start to season.
If you guys forget, I believe they're the last team to lose and they're the last undefeated team.
Toe ended up losing, and the thing that's Ah, sad for them and I'm going to throw a question out for you is they got three ST seniors graduating and Scotty James is one of them.
So let's see if Liberty can come back strong in this upcoming season and not let um, this turnover really hurt them.
But if you had to give a guess, how far would they have made it in March? They would have been.
I would have had them as a probable round of 32 possible sweet 16 type team.
Just cause defense mattered more in the tournament.
That offense you need some clutch shots, which you need teams that are gonna play defense.
And according to the numbers, there was only one team who gave a blessed point to the liberty of this year.
Yeah, I can definitely see that and they're very and their effective fuel will percentage.
I'm a guy that looks like so look at the advanced stats.
They ranked 18th and shot 54.
4% in their effective fuel bill.
So if you're gonna play that defense like he's talking about, and then shoot that proficiently is a top 25 team, you can easily make it to the sweet 16 of March.
Yeah, So we're gonna talk about, um, now, the polar opposite is a good way to put it, um, our season review.
He's going to take one each week.
I'm gonna take one.
We're going to rotate, so I get to talk about a protein next next week.
This week, I'm going to talk about a team that severely underperformed, um, the news and can't get much worse for Fred Hope Hoiberg, who got run out of Chicago, went to Nebraska, was going to be the savior.
Feels like there's the savior.
Was Scott Frost, who is making strides in their football program? The basketball program is definitely going to need new signs of life.
Anything different than what happened the last season is the easiest way to some.
A pile of Nebraska basketball went kind of the equivalent of two house ST Joe's basketball went last season is Nebraska.
They finished seven and 25 2 and 18 in the conference.
That is just something you cannot do as a big uh, is the school in the Big 10 Especially with Hoiberg there? Yeah, it was his first season, so he's inheriting a lot of the guys.
But if you're gonna end up and lose 17 straight games to end your season, there's something a little bit more there than the guys you have on staff.
Kenpom finished them rank that 162 overall in the 353 schools.
So that's a pretty bad look for a big school based start this season off.
And it might have been a four sign of always going to come for them because they started 12 and they lost a UC Riverside and Southern Utah.
And UC Riverside is not a team that should be taken down Nebraska.
Um, I believe that was at Nebraska.
Nebraska was whom for that game as well.
So that is not how you want to start out, but to give Nebraska their credit, they did turn around the season.
They were fighting to get over 500 there, seven and eight and two and two on January 7th.
And then the wheels fall off is the nicest way to put it.
17 straight losses in the 17 straight losses.
They gave up 81 points per game on average and only scored 66.
That is just getting dominated, Stephen.
Oh, absolutely, I think I think you lost all the faith you had because the only faith you really had in Fred Hoiberg is what he did at Iowa State.
And when you are when you were that successful in college, you there's no team that you should walk into.
I don't really care what the talent is and lose 17 games in a road and the season.
Yep, I That was just measure.
Will I just I was watching them, and it was just something like one.
Is it going to stop the ones that going to stop? And it stopped on the season stop.
They lost in the tournament in the first round, 17 straight losses, with your average margin of loss being 15 points per game.
Um, not stuff you want to see from a power power school.
So let's see if the brass you can really turn it around this season or is Hoiberg not going to get much time there? I e.
I think he's got.
He's got one contract he might have this year and one more year.
And if he doesn't turn it around to at least a 500 record and conference, I don't think there's any chance that he has another contract there.
Yeah, it's scary times there and from Nebraska.
So if you're still rocking that T shirt from when Nebraska was good in basketball and football in 2000 and three, why not upgrade with some of our sweet sports apparel? The breakdown is on T public.
We have the latest T shirts, hoodies and, yes, even baby year.
If you are a newborn and you're stuck of the house with the baby, check out our store in T public.
Just search the brk d WN sports will come up.
It's there's currently a 35% off on T public right now, so make sure you hop on that before it runs out.
Yep, on and X, you said we were about to ah, look at some teams for the upcoming season.
And I'm looking at a team that I would be willing to stay up late for every time they're on TV in Stanford, on the West Coast because they bring back their entire team.
There's nobody that isn't coming back, except for one senior who I think only started a senior night and he was African like less than two minutes a game.
So they got the entire team coming back and you bring in a top gun guy in the recruiting class in Zaire.
Williams, who is just putting on a show at I don't know how I'm forgetting the name of the school, Bernie James 12 but always hear a canyon.
Okay, so you bring him in to play the three with two dynamic guards in Cairo.
Terry in Dijon Davis, who I think have the potential to probably be either the best or the second best backcourt in that conference and definitely a top three or four backcourt on the entire West Coast.
So, including Lee, Gonzaga and ST Mary's like this is a team that started to make some noise last year.
They were 20 and 12 and probably close to the bubble when the season stopped.
And then they're bringing back everybody from that team and and just like a top 22 top 25 class, that's going to be a team that can make a run at Arizona and USC.
And those teams for the back told championship this year.
The ah, the name you left out that is my favorite player under Stanford team is on Oscar Day.
He's a dude that just gets buckets as a 69 definitely a guy to watch on the inside.
Heat dominates inside, paid.
So he's, ah, guy to watch for.
I did catch the Stanford Games.
They came over to the East Coast for a tournament and New York City of Forgive.
Who's that? The Barclays at the Garden.
So I definitely watch that Stanford team, and it's it's a good squat.
I didn't have high expectations for them last season.
So up coming in this season with how well they finished their definitely squad to look out for, definitely so the next.
The second team I got for this week is I got a team that I talked about earlier with their coach wrangled back to Arkansas because, like I said, those guys Moses Moody KK Robinson coming in to play either with or behind.
Are you talking about the big guy Advance Jackson? No, I Vance Jackson is a really good transfer coming in from Yale, but I'm trying to remember who their guards are that are coming back this year.
Uh, J t know Tae is one of them.
And then, yeah, it's like Isaiah Joe is We don't really have any Jalen *****s the other guy, but he's more of four.
Yeah, I got like Mason.
Jones was a starter for them last year.
He's coming back as a senior.
Ah, I mean, they lose and it's like, Yeah, and it's like So it's really busy.
Sills and Mason Jones, where their main to backward guys last year.
I don't know if Robinson and Moody come in and just play over them, or if they're they're like Spark closed off the bench.
But either way, that's a really deep backcourt, and they bring in a good transfer.
Who's going? Teoh Definitely help out that team on the defensive end because those kids at Yale.
They know how to rebound.
They were usually outside with their good rebounders.
That's why I think our king size are against. I was one of those teams.
That's people that you can definitely win money on early in the year before Vegas figures on out.
Yeah, sounds like your big hogs fan coming up this season.
So maybe we can get you to do a wee woo pick suey coming up.
If you get a nice cash out on them after you've had a few, maybe we're probably not.
I don't throw up any other teams.
Ah, like, what do you call it? I chant, mantra model every.
I don't do that for any other team except UConn.
You know the Huskies? If I'm drunk enough, who knows word.
So, like we said, this segment, um, we're gonna do weekly.
Ah, they re occurring once.
It's the last used in reviews.
And next week, when you tune into us, we're gonna definitely do that this season preview.
Stephen does to I'm going to do to.
So my upcoming season, we're going to cover in the later episodes.
The full conference previews.
Once we get closer to that time.
Give them their due respect.
But I know you're all itching for your Ah, for your Stanford, your Arkansas and now you're Texas Season Preview.
Shaka Smart's coming back for his six season.
Um, last season was definitely a bumpy one for them.
It was just Ah, you know how they say college a za game of runs.
They just stacked Winds are stacked Allah's at different parts of this season.
I think there's only once in their season where they only lost one game in a row and bounce back.
If they got one losses that usually let the to the 3 to 4.
So he's entering his fifties, and four of the five he's actually had more than 19 wins.
So that's pretty impressive for shocker coming from VCU and ah, but he's only made it to March Madness.
Once they were that fringe bubble team this year that were sitting at 19 and 12 that may have made it just cause they're name is Texas and of Shaka Smart, but they're a team that was going to need to make a run in the Big 12 tournament to get safely in there.
So for this upcoming season.
They're definitely going toe.
Their projects of Ishaq is like best team.
He's ever coach, including his VCU teams.
They're going to be solid on the defensive end as well.
But shockers Coach some, um, ballers at VCU on defense event.
So not going there yet, But I think this is your team to watch in the Big 12 who I think is going to be the favorite to win the Big 12 this season is going to be Texas.
Um, they're going to be an extremely slow pace team coming up this season at VCU and used to watch shock.
If you had that havoc saying and where they used to play pretty fast on offense, this team might rank in the bottom 50 of tempo.
But shock is really starting to get this team take your Mawr efficient shots and not go that Texas or Houston route of liking to chuck it and shoot it quick.
They're going to really work you, um, and they have a lot of people returning.
Their starting lineup could be all upperclassmen unless Greg Brown, who's their top freshmen coming in, make some noise.
But they have four seniors in this roster, two juniors and sop****res Sprinkle in.
Um, I think it's your team to watch in the guy who, if you're watching Texas, watch Matt Coleman play.
He's he's the guy to watch this season coming up for them if they're going to make it run.
Yeah, I think I think Greg Brown is probably the best big man Shocker starts coached, including, like Jackson Hayes, Jared Allen.
I think Greg Brown is above both those guys, so even if he doesn't start, he's gonna be an impact player for them, for sure.
I like to hear that, because that's just helping me out with this preview, saying that they're going to be the favorite stow in the Big 12 mile.
No fats, too much of a ****y take to say.
But if anyone's watching us on Facebook and SportsCastr right now, let me know your thoughts on that.
If you think Texas going through the favorite to win the Big 12 under Shaka, I'm your guy.
I love the 10 so I I have a little bit of a bias to him, but I think he's a solid coach.
Um, definitely hasn't proved what I wanted to see in Texas yet.
Why I've making a long run? Um, pretty sure they got bounced in the opening round each year they made the tournament under Shaka.
So let's see what you got this year.
Yeah, I think that would be a little bit off a little too hot of it takes.
I'm not going to say Texas is the favorite until they either make a conference championship game once or when a NZ W tournament game.
Until they do that, Texas is not back.
We'll come around next February or March.
I expect all your horns down.
Let's if it comes out in your flag on Steven Wright.
Three of I want you next February or March to remember that I said Texas was the favorite to win the Big 12.
If they don't get a shot in the regular season or in the in the conference tourney, you can definitely hold that over me.
All right, deftly, even though I do like Oklahoma City, like I talked about earlier, I think Texas is the favorite, The one it I still think it's Kansas until it's not Kansas.
All right, well, we shall see.
So, uh, going off this a 10 bias.
I'm going into what is projected to be the top school in the 8 10 this year.
No, it is not a in from last year there.
One run should be over after this season.
They're gonna fall back to the middle of the pack after leaving over top.
And it's going to be the ST Louis Billikens, the team that could never finish it or get it fully done.
This is the fifth season with a Travis Ford at the coach, Um, he's had 23 wins and back to back seasons, so it definitely would have been interesting to see what this Billikens team did if they were able to win the A 10 20 make it into March.
Um, like the Texas And like, Stanford, this team's returning guys, if when you're returning, everyone and it's guys who were lagging all of your minutes and they're not losing one of their starters from last season, I think, um, that's a huge factor.
Plus, they're getting the added bonus of getting Francis Karoo from Oregon transferring.
Um, a coup is going to be another guy inside that the Billikens need the biggest thing that they always struggle with is foul shooting.
So let's see if they can finally turn around.
They're a team that's notorious to never break like 70 to 72% on a season.
Yeah, they got ST Louis has some really good players this year.
Like, Oh, Kourou is he's going to step in and be a force taking conference, always technically a step down from Oregon to ST Louis.
So he's got, uh, I think he's gonna dominate.
And the fact that they have somebody was almost a top 50 recruit coming back for your senior year.
And Jordan Goodwin that pick and roll is going to be filthy, and they're both great rebounded Jordan goo and was definitely a guy that there's a household name that you, uh, did not hear a lot last season.
But he was critical to that offense.
The Bill kins like to score in the 60 so they do play solid defense.
But Jordan, good one being that 50 guy doing the pick and roll with him, or if it's Hassan French.
Um, I don't think you're going wrong either way.
When you roll that when you run that out there, Yeah, and then having that other fresher and just I don't know why, but I just I just think when you get a guy who is good enough in high school to go to a place like Mulford like, he's gonna be a guy who should get minutes at some point.
So that fresh when it says his name's this is a This is a weird name.
But Gibson Jimerson Oh, yeah, I don't get the Jimerson.
The name you'll have to have preface that for May 10 points is a freshman, and he's still just gonna be that second cause he's definitely gonna be behind Goodwin.
And I want to say, What's Perkins? You? Yeah, Davante Perkins Definitely ahead of him.
But, yeah, behind those you guys, you just come doing.
He's a spark plug off the bench.
Great scorer doesn't really need to do much else.
He's going to give them depth that other teams in that conference will not have.
Yes, let's see if the Billikens can finally pull it through in the A 10 20.
So we're going and get into our last segment of the night.
Thank you all for all of you who have been hanging along.
We see some guys who have hung in the whole night definitely chime in in the comments If you wanna chirp in for the college game breakers from the breakdown, Um, it's Stephen and Rex here.
So for our last segment, this is breakdown special.
We came up with this all on our own.
This is gonna be our last segment of the week usually going for Stephen and I are going to give our starting five.
We're going to give a special category to it, but we're gonna list what are five these air.
Always going to be college specific, cause we are college B ball ****s.
So since last season got short end, and we all want it.
Mawr talking more games from last season.
We're gonna give you are starting five from last year.
Not necessarily going to be the top guys.
We're not going to go for who was our wouldn't guys and who was there? We're gonna go.
If we could assemble a team and a Stephen and eyes please against each other, we want to see who you would think would win.
So he's going to give you a guard.
I'm going to give you a guard and then that Sawyer and go through it.
So we got two guards, two Fords and a center, so we're going with your traditional lineup.
So, Stephen, let me hear who is your first guard of our starting five players from last season.
My first guard is he was, is that next guy in the line of great Murray State point guards.
So I tried to go with a little bit of a younger team, assuming like, these guys are good already what? They're going to be very good.
I went with Kevin Brown, who he actually came out of Alaska.
I'm not sure if that's why he was a little bit under recruited, and he ended up in Murray State but a 65 sop****re point guard who put up 18 points again with 4.
5 rebounds, almost four assists.
But he was the reason that team went as far as they did and had another great season the year after a drama ran left.
All right, so you went with your scoring point guard.
I want the not the opposite by one with the point guard who got a little bit on their loved last season but was an assist master for the Mustangs of SM you.
And that's Kendrick Davis.
Kendrick Davis is what I think is your ideal point guard is a guy who can score.
He's not going to kill you from deep, but I like my point guard to be a main facilitator.
Dave, this is definitely a guy.
If you catch yourself watching the ponies next year, definitely key in on him.
I mean, I think he was already.
He never had good games when I watched him play and just there to be engineers Yukon.
But sure, I mean, he was dropping a since he was doing all the dirty work.
And my next guard to fill all my backcourt is another guy who I think that's perfectly with Kevin Brown.
I went with one of my guys, the freshman James Book night.
He's a really athletic guard.
He has a good shot from three.
He grabbed over just over four rebounds.
A game is a fresher and he had a slow start because he missed the first three or four games due to some our school stuff, but I really like to talk about that.
He turned it on at the end of the year like he was showing how good not he can be about how good he is already as a freshman in those games against the best teams in the A C.
So I think he's good to really good now.
But he's gonna be one of the greats that you come by the time he's done the stage three or four years.
I knew you would.
Some I'll find the sneaker EUCOM player into your starting five from last season.
So my shooting guard, I'm going with Sam Merrill from Utah State.
Um, last season, when it was going on, I had them to win their tourney over San Diego State.
I came on SportsCastr and told you to lock it in at plus 300 hitting all thanks to my boy Sam Merrill with the three at the buzzer.
0% chance I was leaving big shot Sam marrow out of this list from last season.
He was a guy that was just if you got hot from beyond three.
Um, it was your your team was just going to be in for problems.
So pairing him up with Kendrick Davis, he's going to create the open shot from.
That's where that's where my guard combat is going from last season.
Yeah, getting into the forwards.
I had one of the bigger guys, somebody that people thought could have been not up there for, like, the Wooden Award at the end of the year.
But he was one of the best players in the country.
Last year I went with Jordan Nora out of Louisville.
He had Yeah, he averaged 18 points and pretty much eight rebounds a game, which is really good in the A C C.
And he was the leader of that Louisville team like he was just a guy who's been developing every year and turned into a real MBA prospect this year.
I like that pick with Jordan Nora from Louis, though as your small fort, Um, I'm I'm going with the big name from last year.
Got it? Shut out and show my 8 10 love.
I'm taking overtopping.
Obviously, you all know him by now.
There's not much more.
I have to say on why I'm taking topping as my four.
Um, he's just a monster.
He was a man among boys last season, especially in the A 10.
So toppings, definitely making my starting five from last season.
Yeah, you fell out my front court.
I'm going with a guy who some people say is the center.
A lot of people say he's a power forward, which is where I think he fits best well.
I went with a nieca, Congo, the freshman from USC.
He's a dominant rebounder for his size, but you said he only averaged 8.
But at 69 in the Pac 12 that's pretty good.
And use use a great inside score.
He shot over 60%.
He averaged 16 points or fewer average three blocks.
Essentially, a game like that's a guy who fills this as she is a great effort guy.
He shot over 70% from the free throw line, which for a guy his size is really good and he is my but I think he's the best.
Probably defender on my starting five.
I I mean, I can agree with that one more.
He's, ah, most likely going to be a lottery pick to, so definitely like him making it in there.
Um, you can show that I took this one critically and not let anybody show in here cause I'm taking Sheikh Bay from Nova really hurts me to say longer and taken of a guy for last season.
But, um, if you ever watch it a score and just control a game, Um, he's someone that you definitely want on your college people squad, and I think he's going to be a force in the MBA.
So I'm definitely taking Sheet Bay who can score.
He can rebound and he can facility when he needs Teoh.
Um, I just think my spore right here are just going to take yours toe the work if they ever get on the court.
No, I think you're I think you're getting out physical in the forwards and you are getting out out length on the perimeter.
I could run that zone to perfection right now with this team.
And then my guy in the middle is I got Kofi Coburn from Illinois.
Can step right in as a freshman at one of the most physical conferences in the country and put up 13 and nine, and he didn't like you would obviously have started.
He got started in minutes, but he wasn't getting like Star Player minutes.
You got 27 minutes a game, and but he shot 53% which is in amazing, but you have 1.
5 blocks a game.
5 offensive rebounds a game.
So even if on the off chance somebody on my team misses a shot, we got two great rebounders on the inside who can crash the offensive glass force.
I think he was a perfect guy to use to fill out the middle.
Well, I can disagree with that one because we saw it live where my center Daniel to rue gave Kofi the works of a Daniela to root of Michigan average 20 and 11 last season.
For Minnesota, he was just the presence and the forced you need in the middle also gave you 2.
5 blocks per game.
So I think, uh, to ruin **** and Cochran.
If you saw them play against each other, one Illinois and Minnesota, I swear it up.
It was definitely a good battle of the big men.
Yeah, but I mean, let's just think about that for a second here.
I'm building my team off everything.
I'm going Alan right now, but used at the same time because you got I guess I owe to was only assault for.
That's fine, but like I feel like Bay is.
If he's a freshman, he's definitely an older freshman.
The happy toppings assume here.
So I mean, I think if we had, if we went seniors against seniors, if we if we could do that and let it all play out, I definitely think my guys got bad.
They got that advantage.
Well, since you know I model of my college basketball and everything off the top of my head, not use my numbers on a neutral court, I'd lined My team is minus 30 against you guys.
So just for what it's worth, you know, I take Thea.
I take that, but I take that money line so I get Thea.
So I get that I get that good for not spread God the good money line value.
Yeah, I get I get the value So just a recap our teams realize, even from last season, Stephen, starting five was Brown Book night.
Nora congruent Cochran.
Mine was Kendrick Devis Merrill top in bay in a two room.
Um, this is our first episode of the college game breakers.
