Knicks family was popping is your boy.
You know, I'm here with my man, keep McPherson and we're gonna talk about Patrick Ewing.
Knicks family was pop fashion e, you know, has not been watching in the last days do***entary This what Pat you went out to say, He said.
I had to live through all the battles that we had to go through.
And now you won't have a do***entary that you have to keep rubbing it in my face.
It's what he told the Dan Patrick Show.
No, I'm a huge fan of the Knicks.
As you can see, I'm a huge fan of Patrick Ewing.
So I get his pain.
He tiptoe, but I lived through it, too.
I watched every single one of those Siri's ladies and gentlemen, and it was a painful, painful thing, so I can I can feel it key.
I've been watching the last dance and I'm gonna tell you now.
Every single time they mention the Knicks, my heart breaks a little bit.
Oh, yeah, I feel you, man.
I mean, first things first.
I am a Nets fan way.
What's up? Nick's family.
But I feel your pain man because that was your era to.
That was a great error for the Knicks.
It's been a long time since those times it feels.
But I understand you're saying of your heart breaks when they show the Knicks because I think they did a good job of depicting the Knicks.
But they could have done a little more to show how much of an opponent and how much competition they really were. Four. Jordan.
It could off cause, I mean, they didn't even show the 92 Siri's right, where the Knicks took them to seven games.
I believe in 92 they showed the Eastern Conference finals with the Knicks lost in six year, they lost in six and show the first.
Siri's the Knicks Listen in 93 Willie.
The last dance that came on this Sunday, they showed that 93 Siris in the Eastern Conference finals.
Right? The Knicks went up to Oh, they ended up losing 42.
You had to don't by John Starks.
Okay, now the Knicks was 16 22 that season, 16 22.
They were supposed to.
I mean, I felt like there was supposed to come out of the East, But I was always afraid.
Obviously, you're gonna be afraid of the bulls, man.
Because of Michael Jordan.
And those two guys were friends, but there were fierce competitors on the floor.
I mean, you probably see that picture where you got Michael Jordan and Patrick.
You were face to face, and I remember back then, you know, lip reading what he said to Ewing.
Okay, You know, I mean, I know as the next man, you don't really have those kind of memories.
You got a couple of memories.
You don't have those kind of memories.
Not not really like that like that.
And we didn't have those kind of icons at that time when we had our guys, but not not the best guys in the league.
We talked about two of the best in the league, two legends in the league going toe to toe.
And yeah, like you said, they didn't really show that first the first time around.
They showed Ah, the Siri's where Jordan went to Atlantic City because they've been doing a lot of jumping around in the dock.
They've been doing a lot of telling the story, probably the way Jordan wants it told, like if we're being honest years, it's through the eyes of Michael and how he saw it with this footage.
But man, Ewing was a beast of his own.
I was on Twitter when this whole thing started it, someone said, and they were a Knicks fan.
Of course, they're like men.
I rather watching Patrick U N Doc over Michael Jordan Doc any any day.
And I'm like, Yeah, uh, this is M. J.
This is six rings.
This is the Bulls.
I'm like, I would watch the Pat Ewing doctor, but it probably only be one night we won't need Ah, five Sundays, toe.
But I think that Ewing deserves his respect.
And he deserves for the young people to know he was a beast out there, too.
I'm glad that they they showed him, but I think they could have gave him just a little more respect.
So with this article, Michael Jordan's Bulls, the last dance not on Patrick Ewing's watch lists.
I understand, Pat.
I understand that Sunday night you got better things that to do Sunday night.
You're not turning in for all of that? Yeah, definitely.
I mean cause when you think back about Michael Jordan and Patrick Ewing ever since college 1984 Michael Jordan hits the shot to defeat the Georgetown Hoyas.
Man, um, Patrick Ewing.
I don't want to say he's been living in Jordan shadow, but that's been the guy that's taking him down the wild his entire career, you know? So I get it.
I wouldn't want to feel the pain, either.
But yeah, like you said, you know, Ewing's been I mean, you wouldn't kill he from the center position he dominated in those Siris in 92.
Averaged 22 points, 11 rebounds, Shot 49% from the field in 93.
Have its 26 points, 11 rebounds, 1.
He averaged 2.3 blocks.
I mean, he was absolute beast.
Um, I'm hoping that they do go back to the 92. Siri's.
Like you said, They've been jumping around, you know, going back and forth, showing different things.
So, you know, maybe somehow, some way they'll tie that 92.
Siri's into, Ah, the do***entary.
You know, I'll be amazing.
To think they're already I think they already passing in this funny on December net friend.
They ended the last episode saying, Okay, Jordan.
Ah, the first Siri's.
They got a tune up against the New Jersey Nets and all the Nets fans on That's Twitter went crazy over that.
We go see Ah, Keith Van Horn.
Get washed up rope. Quick.
Been on, I think, keeping who would play for the Knicks for small stretch? It's a matter of fact the Nick get almost had.
I mean, the Knicks.
The Knicks had Keith Van Horn.
I think they had keep van home when they had to come Baby Jumbo and some other players.
Um, but you're probably right.
They probably it Probably not gonna go back to it.
I wonder if they're going to do 94 right? Because Jordan, he retired.
He went to play baseball.
Ah, the Knicks defeated the Bulls to go to the N B A finals.
Of course, they lost to the Houston Rockets in the N B A Finals, but I wonder if they're going to cover that 1994.
Siri's cover MSG.
Somebody rolled a dock out.
Jordan ain't going to put any more light on the Knicks.
I think a you gave all that he wanted to give him.
In the last episode we saw, he came to Madison Square Garden for the last time, and he put on the old Air Jordan ones from 1984.
Hey said his feet were bleeding.
He was playing hard and no shoes that didn't fix that.
His feet were bleeding.
And then the little tip that I got to tie it back to you on was that you want being the competitors.
And, like you said, they have history from college all the way through.
The pros couldn't get rid of them.
Even in the article, he said, I had to live through all the battles that we had to go through, and now you have a doc that you have to keep rubbing in my face like he's not watching it.
But, yo, he's a competitors and still came to congratulate Jordan on his career on the game, and they showed him in the locker room dressed in a suit.
Big Pat Ewing coming through the, you know, just dap up Jordan.
It's a good job, man.
And of course, Jordan's like man, I had to go back in time to 1994 or 1984.
Just toe would be our last Sydney.
She was, like, still still making fun.
Still, you know, taking stabs at him.
Um, e I don't know if we're going to get any more than that from the Knicks side in this dot.
You might be right in that in that scene, which was one of my favorite parts, by the way, um, Patrick was like Jordan said, you had to go all the way back to 19 4 will be all ass.
And you would say, Yeah, I don't start that **** because they give you give you a little bit of light into Lego off the court.
You would probably check Mike a little differently with no cameras around needing around, you know, they have dreams, game experience together.
I'm sure mike had a lot of respect for him, but then being competitors on and off the court, like some of that's always go shine through.
Um, now and then see, this is where I don't understand how Charles Oakley, You know, when you look at those numbers that I just read all for Patrick Ewing in 1992 Eastern Conference semifinals to have his 22 points.
I read this already, but I'm reading again in 93.
Eastern Conference finals.
26 points per game.
7 steals, 56% from the field.
How could Charles Oakley sit there and say that? Ewing, Listen, Ewing wasn't Jordan.
We all know that. Nobody.
Jordan, how can you sit there and say that Ewing was not leading the team? You know, it bothers me, And I know this isn't about Oakley, but it kind of relates because come on, man.
I mean, what do you think about these? Oakley comments.
Im e o que gotta have your boys back.
And when you see the numbers and numbers don't lie, men lie.
Women lie numbers don't.
The numbers don't lie. He put in work, Pat.
Pat Ewing did what he was supposed to do.
He needed some help from some other guys.
And the thing with Oak is like, hold on you.
You still have some feelings for when you play with Jordan early in his career, like we saw that they showed that on the dock that, you know, Oak was there early in, like pipping coming in, right? And he was kind of bullying Pippen and, you know, being a tough guy trying to toughen up Pippen.
And he was kind of when he was on the Bulls.
He was the bulldog.
The enforcer had Jordan's back.
Then he goes to the Knicks, and he's still tough.
He still got the bravado to machismo, whatever you want to call it, but he kind of flip flop for me right there.
You kind of switching sides a little bit right there, like you can't throw your man.
You went under the bus like you got it.
You got arrive for your guy.
He did what he was supposed to do.
You can't say that he wasn't leading the team like in that situation.
He put his numbers in and those numbers of forever.
And you know, coming from a guy and listen.
It was not Charles Oakley's job to score points, right? But coming from a guy no serious, who barely scored 10 points a game, he did this thing on the rebounding and He was a tough guy. He was the bruiser.
But if you're not putting up those points and he is I mean, you gotta give props till now.
It did say, like, you know, Patrick would shoot a fadeaway over two or three guys.
You know, when those type of things.
Um I mean, what else did you expect? Just The Knicks just didn't have enough even know, You know, they went 16 22 in that 90 to 93.
Siri's a season.
It went 16 22 but they just didn't have they needed.
Jordan had pipping, so you know, they might go through whatever struggles.
But when it comes down to playoff basketball, you know you need those guys that can really fight through the toughness and fight through the defense to get you a bucket the next didn't have that consistently.
John Starks wasn't that consistently.
Obviously, Oakley wasn't Mason, you know, tough guy, but he wasn't going to score it up like that.
Insistently, I think at a time you had exhibit McDaniel's No, no, I'm sorry.
Exhibit nickname X Man was a day you had Charles Smith, and I don't even want to get into that which all? Smith missed three in four or five layups under the basket, while Michael Jordan Horace Grant kept denying him.
Um, I think that team missed a little bit of toughness without X Man, and then they just didn't have that secondary score to really get him over the home.
Yeah, I mean, the MBA more, more so than any sport.
You see these cohesive teams 5 to 10 guys and you just see when it's their time when it's not in.
Jordan has done a great job of showing how he ran into the bad boys.
He ran to the Detroit Pistons.
It was their time.
Then they had to work out.
They had to man up.
They had to grow up and mature a little bit to be able to knock them off.
For the Knicks, it's a shame.
But as they were coming together as a team, they ran into Jordan, Pippen and the Bulls, and it was their time.
And, you know, we don't know what it when the next time is gonna be again.
But we see any envy.
The MBA goes through phases, right? You know, LeBron and the heat had a dynasty, then the Warriors dynasty.
Can't forget the Spurs in there before that.
Like these next teams that, you know, come up and rise.
It's got to be something in, like in the universe or in the Stars.
So perfectly aligned, man, because you could be one or two players away, and ultimately you could be one or two plays away from getting to the finals.
Losing the finals.
This is crazy when you really think about the history of it in, You know, with the history of this rivalry between you and in Jordan, they play it up so much.
I think it was last week or two weeks ago is the anniversary of the dunk where Jordan shakes off Starks, Oakley yams it right on Ewing's head and, ah, every outlet played that bleacher report Sports center, ESPN.
All of them played that clip, and I was like, Why are they doing? You're doing dirty with that one play.
That's the play where he's going baseline and he turns back, makes like he's turns back and any takes.
Another driven comes into dunks and right.
That's the way I like very quick twitch movements.
Ah, like you said base Baseline one fake that way and then comes back the way he came from.
And just elevation.
You want us forever? Not even in a poster like that moment.
I've seen them make gifts out of it.
I've seen them make drawings out of it.
Like he gets a bad rap for that one moment.
That's a tough one.
Yeah, he gets a bad rap for that one moment, but they never show.
I pointed out, you know, when I'm talking to people.
But they had never shown some of them serious.
When Jordan went to the basket and Jordan and you went through it back to with the right times, it never so those no show now those are lost now.
Yeah, they always show that dunk.
But, you know, you mentioned some teams that the Bulls had to go through the Pistons, right? Of course, the Knicks were tough defensive team.
People look at the Bulls and think that they ran through teams they really did not.
They had to go through some tough, tough battles to win those championships, you know, I know they had seasons where they won a lot of games.
What? And it's hard for me to say, right? I do not have Jordan brand close to today.
I do not runs for me, right? I got yours, though.
But I don't have any Jordan brand clothes, but they had to go through some tough teams.
You know, when you look at when you look at the teams back then, you know, there was some battles.
There was some real battles.
You're talking, Obviously.
The Knicks in the Bulls.
Uh, the Bulls and the Pistons You had.
The Pacers were a tough team.
Even before going way back into the early nineties, the Boston Celtics.
The Bulls had to fight through some battles to get there.
And I think that's definitely a testament to the toughness of their team, you know? I know they had them, you know.
They went 72 10 and it wants some gains.
Some seasons where they won 60 games, but they were tough.
They would sell.
Can we get back to that type of play in MBA? No.
Now those days are gone, man.
Even watching the doc, I'm like, Yo, these fouls are crazy.
Like we wouldn't.
We'll never see a foul like that.
Nobody was flopping back then because if you like, you're really getting fouled.
If you were out there on the court, you were really getting hit.
They were trying to inflict pain like this guy Jordan made like he went to the weight room and made his whole team getting a weight room so that they could put on some muscle and get ready for the being so that they could.
Like he said, I wanted to administer pain.
He wanted to give it back.
Those those times they're done.
Those times are gone.
The league has completely changed now, maybe for the better.
The league is in a great position, better than it's ever been globally, financially outside of the current state that we're in.
But, like, I don't think we can go back.
And then that brings up a point of, you know, the style of five that we saw back then.
We've seen you know, this true center versus now.
We got these long fives and his athletic fives.
Are these 45? You know, these guys that are playing to five like a dream on or like even you know, I'm a Nets fan.
They're saying Katie is gonna be playing the five when, when he comes back, it's just a different game across the board.
Yeah, is definitely a different game, and the MBA won't let it go back, because if you go back and look at those watch those games, even regular season games there were brawls that were breaking out everywhere.
They're not gonna let it go back to.
That is to marketable.
If it goes back to that Ah, it's going, you know, they'll they'll lose sponsorships and all kinds, stuff like that.
But at least the the great and the defense of toughness.
I'd like to see more of that put back into the game.
Not that there aren't teams that play good self defense.
There are, but I'd like to see a little bit a little bit more of it, uh, combat into the game.
You know what I'm saying? Um, I think it would make it a little bit more because even back then, the All Star Game even meant something, right.
Like guys took the All Star Game personal.
Today, the All Star Game is just running up and down the floor.
Nobody wants to take the chance of getting hurt, which is understandable.
Uh, they just running up and down floor, doing whatever back then, even All Star Game meant something.
So L I doubt that we'll get any of that scores to continue to get higher and higher and higher.
But it is entertainment value when you see you know, some of these crazy scores is crazy shots, you know? Yeah.
Interested to see what's going to go on in the next two episodes? I was reading an article and they said they can't believe some of the stuff that Jordan let get past in these next two episodes.
We'll see in, and I think they're going to start now, getting us closer to the end, closer to the, you know, the final season.
Man. They've done a great job producing it.
They've done a great job showing the youth what it used to look like.
It is crazy to think about just a matter of a couple of decades.
How much change like you say, right? They did a lot of talking last week about Isiah Thomas and the bad boys.
Not shaking hands and how they got that from the Celtics.
Doing it to them is like a changing of the guard type of thing.
Like we're not gonna show those guys.
And you love, you know, you see that today, but like, it's a different kind of vibe, different kind of energy.
And like you said about marketing the MBA, I think after the whole, like malice in the palace thing, they don't let it get to physical.
They don't let it get too crazy, too chippy.
If there is a rivalry or a beef, the rivalry and beef comes from like Twitter.
You know, the rivalry and beef comes through.
Somebody saying something on a podcast or a tweet is never really on.
The court is never really physical in the N B.
A lot of players say, Oh, I don't get involved in fights because nobody is really gonna fight.
Well, if you're looking at the Jordan Doc, there was guys throwing haymakers.
These dudes is looking like they were trying to take people out.
So once upon a crime, people were really fighting in the n B A.
But rights come a long way I like the brand of basketball.
That's their But ah, 100% agree would agree with you with the like, Let's see some defense.
Like I like guys like Pat Beverly, right? Like lock LeBron up.
Let me see you like LeBron up.
I want to see you.
You clamp down on the goat like let me see.
Not no offense to anybody out there that don't think LeBron is to go.
I think LeBron can be ago.
M might can be the goat justus.
Well, different eras, different wings.
But yeah, You know what we'll see when we get back.
I bet whoever is in this ah resumed, restarted MBA.
If they can do that better that we playing defense is in because people are gonna be trying to win and be done with it whenever it comes back whenever it restarts.
And I'm sure all of now have timeto watch this, and maybe they're going to take some cues from Jordan.
One last thing before we get out of here.
Something that I Freddie? Yeah, I was scared to death when watching this do***entary.
Um, because I was so free that they were gonna say at some point when we didn't know it, that Jordan was going to go to the Knicks and the Knicks did something to mess it up.
I'm telling you, I was like, Please let that come out because if it comes out, was going to be all over the place all over the news, you know? And I didn't feel like here in the next get trashed.
So far, it hasn't.
And from where we are in the do***entary doesn't look like it's gonna come out.
So I think God, for that, you know, we don't need that man.
The Knicks next fans have gone through enough, and I see a lot of even these young Knicks fans on Twitter going through it with the current situation and everything.
And it's like not Jordan.
Don't do it to him.
I remember when it came out.
Um, I guess LeBron has said something on the court before he went to the Lakers and he said something along the lines, like, you know, like, oh, I was either going.
I was either staying home or going to New York or, like always, either.
He I think he said that the demon way like it was either here or the garden.
Like there's only there's only a couple of places I was gonna finish.
My career is either here in the garden, and I was like, Oh, no, I like why even let? Why haven't let a microphone catch that right? Why even stay that Allah? Right.
But you know, LeBron LeBron likes to do that.
He knows the media is going to jump on it, you know? But he's smart like that.
He knows they're watching it every move.
So sometimes I mean, even if that wasn't that, that he could have just been trolling.
But like when you said that about Jordan and made me immediately think about when LeBron said like, it would have been here.
Do you like Dan later? Well, they keep, man, I appreciate you coming on.
Ah, great conversation.
You know when everybody out there, you know, make sure you watch the last dance in the comments section below.
Make sure that, you know, put your opinions about Patrick Ewing, Michael Jordan, the rivalry, all of that.
All right? Appreciate it, man.
Keep anything You want to leave his weight makes you fight
