wonder happily, people watch.
Okay, Hello and welcome into the show.
Thanks so much for tuning in. Everyone.
This is something I'm starting up this weekend, and every Sunday I'll have for you a soccer weekly update and a Boston Sports Weekly update each about 15 minutes.
I'll get you updated on all the week's action on both topics, so I hope you enjoy the show and let's get right into the news.
So basically, all the international competitions are done.
Uh, this summer, except for one African Cup of Nations that is still going, as the semi finals were today, where Senegal beat Tunisia one nil.
With that, that game went toe extra time, and it was an own goal by Tunisia that sent Senegal through.
So Senegal is in the final of Afcon.
Meanwhile, in the other semifinal matchup, Algeria defeated Nigeria to one a bit of a shock there, uh, as we were probably expecting Nigeria to come through in the end.
But Mara is a stoppage time goal sent Algeria through in the 95th minute is when he scored so Algeria will face Algeria will face Senegal in the final of the African combinations.
Meanwhile, in the third place match, Tunisia will face Nigeria that on Wednesday The final will be Friday at 3 p.m. Eastern time.
So Senegal, Algeria.
Not many expecting that.
But you know, Senegal's a talented side.
They have Saudi Ahmadi.
Um Algeria, meanwhile, has Riyadh Morris, so that would be a good showdown from the Liverpool and Man City players.
So it should be.
It should be a good, uh, African Combinations final, that's for sure.
That will take place Friday.
All right, now let's shift over to ah, some end WSL action.
Just because the woman's World Cup is done doesn't mean ah, woman's soccer action is done.
That not at all, actually, as N W SLR midway through the season here.
And if you don't know too much about the lead, there's nine teams right now since the Boston Breakers folded on for unfortunately, that was my local team.
Ah, used to be 10 but now it's nine.
The top four make the playoffs and we're about midway through the regular season.
So here are the results from the weekend On Friday, Sky Blue defeated the Utah Royals one nil.
Ah, so a big win for Sky Blue.
As they're, they're not having a good year.
But it was a stoppage time goal that sent that gave sky blue the three points in the end.
So they defeated the Utah Royals, of course, all the U. S.
Women's national team players not yet back with their teams.
They will rejoin the teams tomorrow.
They'll be back for next weekend's action.
Then we'll get to see you know, the real teams.
But all but you know, players from all the other countries basically have already returned to their end WSL teams.
And then yesterday Ah, huge showdown between the top two teams in the league.
The North Carolina courage in Seattle rain.
Before the match, the courage were two points behind the rain.
But the courage did win two nil.
And that put the courage now one point ahead of Seattle at the top of the table.
Aah! Williams scored early on.
She's had some stints with the U.
S women's national team and then Davina, the Brazilian who we saw at the World Cup.
She scored in the 55th minute to give the courage the victory.
Meanwhile, also yesterday, the Houston dash took on the Chicago Red Stars.
Chicago came out with the one nil win.
And, uh, you know, that was a good, good showdown, that's for sure.
But in the end, Chicago came out with the win.
Um, maybe a little bit disappointing from Houston.
But that wasn't all the action today.
The Portland thorns took on the Orlando Pride for sure the game of the week.
And, ah, it was on ESPN News.
I saw some of that second half anyway, and when it match, it was Portland defeated Orlando 43 A crazy game, Um, absolutely extraordinary was one.
No, Portland at the half, Raso, the Australian you might know from the World Cup, scored early on for Portland.
And there were bad goalkeeping mistakes from Orlando, that's for sure.
And, uh, But in the second half, Percy scored in the 58th minute to put Portland up two nil, and then Marta scored in the 61st minute.
We all know Marta from the World Cup that put the deficit toe one goal.
They're rolling down by one.
Then Christine Sinclair, five minutes later, the Canadian International, We know her.
Ah, a few minutes later to make it 31 But then suddenly Orlando, they gave Marta.
They scored two minutes later.
They gave Martin the credit in the game, but they have since changed it to an own goal.
It was redirected, so I guess right called a 68th minute.
So then it was three to, And then in the 90th minute, granting Greening scored four Orlando to tie it up, and it looked like they come away and steal a point.
But in the 94th minute, Taylor Lucy scored for Portland and dramatic fashion at the end, and it was great to have that one.
Nationally televised on ESPN has signed a contract with N W S L to show 14 games, including all three playoff games from the N W S L S O that will be cool toe.
They'll show one match each weekend and then the semifinals and championship.
When that comes around, it was great to have this one televised.
What a way to kick off their coverage here.
And so that was that.
Let's look at the standings now.
So the North Carolina courage and first place on 22 points the thorns with that win, by the way today, a huge win.
They're They're also on 22 points in second place, the raindrop toe 3rd 20 points and then the Washington Spirit, who had a bye this week.
Ah, have that last playoff spot or cling onto it on 18 points.
But Utah Royals and Chicago Red Stars five and six, are only one point behind the Spirit on 17.
Then the Houston Dash, with 13 points in the Pride and Sky Blue, are eight and nine with both eight points.
So there are your, uh, standings.
They're the top four.
Make the playoffs and, ah, let's take a look at next week's games.
The Utah Royals will host the Portland Thorns on Friday.
On Saturday, the Washington Spirit will host the Houston Dash in the Orlando Pride will host Sky Blue, and on Sunday, the game on television ESPN two will be Chicago Red Stars against North Carolina.
That should be a great game.

So we'll get all the stars on the field back on the field in N.
W S O action after the World Cup has ended with the US winning.
Now let's head to MLS MLS with up some great games this weekend.
On Friday, Uh, my team.
The New England Revolution Tide D C.

Um, Teal Bunbury scored very early on in the fourth minute.
Then Carlos he'll scored on the 32nd minute.
But D C United scored Lee in the first half.
The 43rd minute, Uh, in that game, d c.
And after that red card by the revolution, they were clinging on by the thread.
But D c tied it in the end 86 minutes.
You know, I'll talk more about that on my Boston Sports Weekly updates show right after this, but, uh, yeah, you know, we New England comes away with the draw, which their unbeaten in their last seven games, I think eight, which is the most in the league.
So, you know, at least they didn't lose.

But that red carded comes in the 93rd minute on Dom Dwyer.
They scored the winner in the 84th minute.
Big win for Lando, FC Cincinnati.
Nice to see them get a win over the Chicago Fire to one.
They've been struggling here in MLS after having much success in US sell.
But the MLS is a different story, and they've learned the hard way.
But good to see them get a win and Minnesota United defeated FC Dallas one.
They'll they're having a much better year than last season.

Also, the International Champions Cup is getting underway this week.
Obviously, it's, you know, just preseason.
We don't see all of the best players in action, but it is club football club soccer, I should say in Europe, so that's always good.
