00:00:05
Hey, we're live again.
00:00:08
This is Keith McPherson for clutch points and SportsCastr talking about more passed MBA and present MBA and comparing the past to the present.
00:00:19
Since we don't presently currently have any games, why not look back and think back toe what would have been or could have been, or how teams in the past would stack up against teams today? Now we're talking about Derek Fisher, right? Derek Fisher reveals how he thinks the Lakers 2000 and nine teams 2000 9 2000 and 10 teams would have held up. Now.
00:00:41
Those championship teams, Kobe's Kobe led teams that won rings back to back.
00:00:47
You guys remember they had a roster of Kobe, Shannon Brown, Paul Gasol, Metta World Peace, Jordan Farmar, obviously Derek Fisher, Lamar Odom, Trevor Arreaza, Luke Wall.
00:01:00
And they had some guys.
00:01:02
And you put all those guys together and they're gonna figure it out.
00:01:05
And one thing that came to mind as soon as I read this article shot to Ryan Ward, who wrote this article.
00:01:11
I thought about what this team was that when Kobe passed a couple months ago.
00:01:15
Wow, Almost today's the 24th.
00:01:17
I think Kobe passed on January 24th.
00:01:22
So three months ago.
00:01:24
Um, when Kobe past the aired Kobe doing work, the Spike Lee do***entary from 2000 and nine And when they, you know, aired this again, I don't know.
00:01:34
I guess it was just 11 years had passed and I didn't realize, but Kobe doing work really showed you the intricacies of the offense that that team ran, how they communicated.
00:01:45
All those guys were very cerebral guys, led by Kobe, who is obviously a great basketball mind and one of the greatest basketball players we've ever seen.
00:01:54
But I think they would hold up against today's current teams.
00:01:57
Obviously, the comparison got thrown out there between the Lakers and the Warriors.
00:02:02
I don't necessarily look at that Lakers team and the Lakers, um, matching up with the Warriors as far style of play, running the triangle offense versus more of the like, running gun style.
00:02:13
And then now you see, obviously points from outside the arc.
00:02:17
When Katie was on that Warriors team, it's Katie.
00:02:20
It's clay it, Steph and the rain and threes.
00:02:22
Um, I think the Lakers team took the 31 It was there took the three when they needed it, but they could get you in the paint.
00:02:28
They moved the ball around well.
00:02:30
And like I said, with that roster, they had a bunch of different guys to get it done.
00:02:33
Um, it's fun to compare.
00:02:35
It's fun to think about.
00:02:37
It's fun to try and, you know, have these scenarios where we take these teams in the past and comparing the today, but we'll never be able to actually do that.
00:02:45
But I think the Kobe led Lakers teams, I think they should have won another one.
00:02:50
I think they lost the Celtics.
00:02:51
I think in 2011 those teams were great wish.
00:02:55
Kobe had six rings that Lakers dynasty, that Lakers run that they had the second time without Shack was amazing to see.
00:03:02
Ah, that was a full and complete team with guys like Paul Gasol and the rest of the guys I named.
00:03:08
Um, I think they would held up just fine in today's MBA and probably would've figured out how to run their triangle offense or whatever often is they wanted to run.
00:03:16
They would have been able to adapt to the style of play that we see today.
00:03:19
So give me the Lakers next to the Clippers, the Nuggets Warriors, whoever it might be, um, give me the Lakers versus Kobe, Our ah, LeBron um, and eighties Lakers versus Kobe's Lakers.
00:03:32
So, um I don't know.
00:03:34
I was a big fan of Kobe and that team, and I think they would held up in any era of the MBA for, you know, Justus Faras a team sake goes all right, That's all I got for you.
00:03:44
Uh, keep McPherson.
00:03:45
Clutch points, SportsCastr.
00:03:48
Thanks for watching and
