I live in Yardley, Pennsylvania, right around the corner from Marshall, Pennsylvania, which is right around the corner from Trenton, New Jersey Why am I bringing that up? Well, I really wanted to place a wager today.
I wanted to place a bet, but I couldn't get to New Jersey.
I couldn't make a bet in P yet.
Jalen Reagor was plus 1000 to be picked by the Philadelphia Eagles in the first round with their first selection.
And that's who they went with.
It shocked Philadelphia.
It shocked the world.
They didn't take Justin Jefferson, and it's Jalen Raker.
They wanted to address speed this offseason, and that's exactly what he provides so late leading into the draft.
You know, the reports were out that they were interested in Justin Jefferson, and they all turned out to be a smokescreen.
They took Jalen right here, and, you know, the the only thing I would have maybe done with was trade up for CD lamb.
But this was also the first, you know, I guess virtual draft in, Well, not the first virtual draft because they had drafts like this in the past, where you know, you didn't have it on location.
But, um, this is the 1st 1 you know, obviously with the Corona virus.
And there's been no trades tonight, no traits, basically just the one.
And I know that's a move that a lot of people in Philadelphia wanted to do was trade up for CD lamb.
But, you know, this was this was a draft where it's unprecedented times and, you know, maybe the trade up just wasn't possible.
So Dallas Dallas exacts revenge from the Eagles taking Dallas in Dallas.
They take CD lamb.
They ah replaced Randall Cobb with him.
So they now have a Marquis Cooper and see the land to deal with.
And obviously you're going to be paying Dak Prescott all that money.
So weapons galore.
Now for the Cowboys Eagles here, though, looking at Jalen Reagor, you needed to speed this offseason.
Then you get it in regular.
I mean, he didn't have a good combine.
He came in a little bit.
I don't know if it over weights, not the right word.
But he bulked up and he didn't run as fast.
He lost that weight loss like, um, yeah, I know.
It's not a terrible pick.
It's actually the pick that I would have made.
But I understand why people you know, one just Justin Jefferson.
Look, Justin Jefferson is a slot guy, and the Eagles already have a lot of pieces in the middle of the field with Dallas, Qatar, Zach Ertz.
It was kind of a tough it.
I would have recommended maybe taking Justin Jefferson and trading back up in the first round.
But if you really want Jalen Regular, if you love Jalen Regular, if he's the guy that you want when you take him a 21 and I am somebody who was on the jail in regular trade, you know, um, that you can't look at the production and the statistics that he had a TCU because the quarterback was terrible.
Quarterback plays horrible, Um, but you look at the things that he does, the way that he could beat your deep the way that he can high point the football because he's got a huge vertical leap.
So he's got speed.
He's got vertical abilities, got run after the catch abilities, absolutely electric with the ball in his hands.
So the screen game, all the different things that Doug Peterson likes to do within the offense, off all the movement, all the formations just utilizing jail and rigour and a bunch of different facets.
You're gonna be seeing that sort of stuff.
So, um, this was not a surprising pick to me.
I would have put money if I was in New Jersey on the plus 1000.
That's where exactly where I wanted to go with Jalen Regular.
I knew this is was I Frickin news.
Is, was this was where they were going today I pretty much nailed.
I've been calling this for a while, so we talked about the yak ability.
There are some things he needs to work on his route running, you know, like he there's there's a boomer bus potential here.
There is some things that you have to work out King.
So you have to work out.
But this is where you know more Had the new wide receivers, coach, he's gonna be huge in developing him in, you know, getting him going.
So I was watching some tape on him earlier today, for example, and one of the things that I think you could do a little bit better on is on that stutter and go round.
Uh, you know, So he's got so much speed, and I'm watching the stutter and go, I think you can sink his hips a little bit more.
Uh, just run a little bit slower, get a little slower, allow for that fake to set in and allow it to manipulate the defender enough so that you can breeze by.
Um, so that there was a slow go that I saw where he was a little bit too upright, and it didn't, uh, fake out the defender enough and wanted being an incomplete pass in the back of the ends.
So route running is something that he needs to refine.
That's why you have the coaches.
That's where you're gonna have to work with him.
Eso there's that, um, looking at, you know, Carson Wentz here and the fit and looking at, you know, potential other picks here for the Eagles.
Carson is gonna love Jalen rigor and and the skill set that he provides, uh, being able Teoh stretch the defense now because this was a big problem last year with Sean Jackson obviously being hurt pretty much for the whole season.
They weren't able to stretch the field.
Everything was very slow and methodical.
Within the drives.
You didn't see anything.
You know, Bing bang boom, where you're scoring three or four plays.
You hit a deep shot down field.
You wouldn't see that.
You want to bring in the speed because you kind of want to look more like Kansas City.
Look, a Kansas City just did.
They won the Super Bowl.
Sammy Watkins, Tyree.
Kill all that speed implemented within the offense.
Um, so that's what Jalen Regular could get the ball in his hands with the yak ability he can.
He can run by you because he's got a lot of speed.
He can high point the ball down the field.
That's important, too, because it's like, All right, you want to be fast, and that's great.
But you still gotta catch the ball.
You still gotta just when the quarterback under throws it.
And this is something that I've seen Jalen Reagor do on tape, adjusting toe under thrown balls, being able to high point ball downfield and this is something I see as well.
So you know there is something to work with you.
I know Philadelphia's freaking out.
I am not because Jalen Rigor was very high on my list.
I had him ahead of Justin Jefferson.
I had him at number four in my wide receiver writings.
He was in my top five.
I I think he's a great fit for the offense and a great fit for the Eagles.
This is going to be something that people disagree with, and that's okay.
I think in the second round, though, you have to param with somebody.
I would still go receiver in the second round and I would go with somebody like a Michael Pittman, a more riff out, refined technician route running ability on I think he would complement Reagor, verily, really well, so I would still go receiver in the second round.
Now, obviously, you see how the board plays itself out and, you know, best player available sort of thing.
You know, whether good safety or good cornerbacks on the board.
But if I'm the general manager of the Philadelphia goes, I'm getting two receivers within the 1st 4 rounds.
So, um, they got their 1st 1 Jalen Regular, 21 Justin Jefferson.
They passed on him.
He goes a pick later to the Vikings.
All right, so just kind of recapping a little bit of the draft here to close your a couple more minutes.
Um, it was not really a surprising top 10.
Ah, lot of it was chalky.
A lot of it played the fruition.
I'd say the only surprise.
The big surprise to me was a Andrew Thomas.
Going to the Giants for him to be the first tackle off the board was a little bit of a surprise.
Eso they they took tackle.
They didn't go Isaiah Simmons to a tiger.
Vilo did go to Miami, and I thought Miami did a pretty good job of playing the game here with smokescreens.
Uh, and you know, it's been the tank for to a campaign for over a year.
But all the smokescreens and the reports were saying that maybe they were going to take Justin Herbert.
And, you know, there was an argument that could be made for that because the offense of line stinks to a taco. Vilo.
Do you really want to put it behind that online? You know, would you take a Justin Herbert but the end of the day Miami does take to, uh and they help out.
They help him out by taking Austin Jackson with the 18th pick, so they give him an offensive.
Linemen were at the 25th pick right now, um, looking to see who got picked. Sezer.
Aries just got picked by the Saints.
Okay, center out of Michigan.
Ah, let's just I guess just just recap the let's see.
Let's see what the Pixar just go from the beginning.
Real quick and just all right.
So, obviously, was Joe Borough number one Chase Young Number two. Jeffrey Kuhner.
I talked about Andrew Thomas to a Herbert Go six.
Derek Brown goes seventh.
I thought maybe they would go Isaiah Simmons Carolina.
But they go Derek Brown to go with somebody who was safe.
Gonna be a good run defender for them.
Isaiah Simmons goes eighth to the Cardinals.
I thought the Cardinals would take a tackle.
I thought they would take the gender wills, but they take Simmons and you know that that's a you know, he's a unicorn or going to a lot of different things.
A lot of versatility for him.
Ah, and that's an interesting pairing.
Him and Hassan Red**** The athleticism that both of them possess.
Jacksonville takes C.
Obviously, they need a cornerback following all those, uh, you know the departures.
1/4 corner with a J.
Boy and Jalen Ramsey.
Rick Wills goes Ted to Cleveland.
11th year to the Jets.
Henry Rugs goes to Las Vegas, and he is the first receiver off the board, if you listen.
Ah, my radio telecast here in Philadelphia, Amman every Monday and Friday at 5 p.m. On show.
Embraces show on Fox Sports Gambler I was talking about how I thought Henry rubs would be the first, but potentially be the first receiver taken.
And it was the Raiders who took up.
So Raiders, you know, you think of Al Davis and think of that Speed and Henry Rugs goes to the Raiders.
Really, really isn't surprising.
At the end of the day, Tristan worths goes 13.
Tampa Bay, that's been the loan trade made so far in the first round moved up a spot to take a, uh given kin Lagos, 14th to San Francisco.
Judy goes 15th so that's another weapon for Drew.
Elf 16 to Atlanta CD Lamb.
The aforementioned one goes 17 to Dallas.
Talked about Austin Jackson, Little bit demon or next 19th out of you go, uh, out of Ohio State.
So a second Ohio State guy goes.
Our third Ohio State guy goes in the first round because Chase Young obviously went second.
Jason goes 20th to Jacksonville and that rounds it out.
So we have a trade alert.
So just as I said, there's only one trade.
The Vikings Air trading.
The 25th pick to the 40 Niners.
The 40 Niners are on the clock.
The 40 Niners were reported to potentially trade back in the first round.
Well, it looks like they're not doing that.
So do they want I guess they would probably want to receiver.
All right, well, I'm not gonna make the pick for them, because this video is over.
So those are my thoughts on Jalen Reagor? I'm a big Jalen Reagor guy.
I'm I'm on him more than other people.
Uh, you can look at the production.
You have to look at what he brings to the table and what the Eagles really need really need speed.
And that's exactly what they get.
So, jail Riggers, the pick in the first round for the birds.
I'm Adrian. Thank you.
