Dan Pascoe is a task.
Oh, sports coming to you alive here on a day.
Is it today? On a Friday evening great show planned for you today.
It's getting a couple things set up.
If you haven't text us, tweet us at past the sports on Twitter, all on Instagram.
All right, so let's dive into it first.
In college athletics, we talked about this last time.
They are reeling right now.
Winter and spring sports were canceled March 11th.
So college coaches and athletes that can't communicate they can't practice.
Then they can communicate.
But they're not allowed to practise physically together just because so the spring sports are over.
The big concern now is turning our attention to the fall sports.
Are we going to see college football come back in the fall? And, according to a survey by Lead One, an association of athletic directors of 130 major college football schools, I don't think that's gonna happen.
So 63% of those polled predict a worst case scenario in which there will be revenue decreasing by at least 20% during that 2020 2020 and 2021 school year.
So that's even with abbreviated college football season's.
It's not gonna look very, very good for these college teams.
Lead one and teamwork.
So their company that created an APP designed to help keep teams and athletic departments connected.
So they surveyed over 100 athletic directors from all from a lot of Division one college football teams.
And it's not looking good right now.
We'll dive into the numbers here.
75% listed donations among one of the most at risk categories followed.
Bite Sick, huh? Ticket sales at 74% 67 predicted that a decrease in a roll mint could happen.
And that's probably gonna happen because of the virus.
And 41% of Power 5 80 said they have a financial reserve in place that could be used in terms of a crisis like this one now.
But that's compared to just 26% of Group five a D.
So the big guys they have money that small guys and that so much and actually pretty shockingly, 40% approved or strongly approved of the idea that high earners should voluntarily offer to make a personal financial sacrifice.
So this is, this is pretty surprising.
And I Iowa State, they just announced that nearly everyone in the athletic department will take a one year, 10% pay cut and that coaches will says, spend all bonuses and incentives from one year.
Could this be something we see come to the Pac 12 with the SEC potential? Is Nick Saban or David Shaw? Are they gonna take pay? Cuts? Potentially will have to see.
Only time will tell.
But it's happened in Iowa State, and this could be the first domino as more schools are looking at but potential revenue loss if football is either cup stops completely or even partially stop and kind of going along those lines.
We haven't seen this too much with college athletes, but don't let the pro ranks.
Ah, lot of these athletes are almost like celebrities and the reach now, how these fans could interact with their favorite celebrities.
The celebrity athletes is through social media, and now, with the Quarantine and Corona, we're seeing a lot more athletes take to social media and directly engage with their fans, either through live streams, video games or of themselves.
That's what Cody Zeller did one Miles Leonard on Miami Heat.
He did one of his video game set up and some streaming of some color duty or post and daily workout videos, or even interviewing health experts.
That one's a shout out to, uh, Steph Curry there, interviewing Dr Anthony Fauci.
So that's That's what we're looking at right now because a lot of personalities, all the athletes, are almost Maur media companies than pure people on the actual platform.
And this was a pretty interesting survey.
Axios Sports looked at all the most recent All Star started for the four major sports, and look at how many Instagram followers that they have a time.
And the difference between the N B.
A and everyone else was surprising.
Well, maybe not surprising, but very shocking.
If you're not a fan or aware that the n B A.
They dominate the social media, landscape filled LeBron James.
He has 62 a half 1,000,000 Instagram followers, which is almost 1.
5 times as many followers as the NFL Pro Bowl and we'll be old star game NHL All Star game.
All combined, they only have 41.
8 million followers.
The Pro Bowl, a 26 All Star game.
18 point four Excuse me and NHL, 6.8.
So, LeBron he is.
He's obviously gonna have the most followers he is.
He is a media entity at that level, and it's been pretty shocking to see everyone else so far behind.
But you gotta realize he's the king.
He is, you know, once in a generation type count on the court, but also often.
I mean, he's making a movie space jam, too, and he's phenomenal in the n B A.
They only found one started out All Star starter from Who They pulled Kaleil entered without an INSTAGRAM account.
And Pascal, See Ya come with 721 121,000.
Basically, followers had fewer than 1.
5 billion father.
So a lot of MBA starters, all the stars in the N.
A All Star game, which they're all stars, have a big instagram presence, and that's there.
But now, when we turn our attention to Major League baseball, which has, sadly enough, not done a good job that promoting their players Mike Trout he has the most followers at 1.
Think about that.
8 versus 62 a half 1,000,000.
Pretty pretty stark contrasts there between the goats of each league in terms of baseball and basketball.
And the second, the only other starter is Javi Bias that has more than a 1,000,000 followers.
3 million of Thea.
Again, this is all all Star starters from the previous All Star Game.
Three starters didn't have accounts.
Michael Brantly, Freddie Freeman and Nolan are Renato.
A little low, surprising.
I know Freddie Freeman, I think.
His wife posting videos of him interacting with his kids, now drink Corona, but are not.
Oh, he's a big star.
He gets a big contract and he's bored.
Align a household name holding down the hot hot corner there for the Colorado Rockies.
Kind of unusual not to see him without a instagram account.
He has the most.
With 4.4 million.
Six starters have over one million followers that includes Lamar Jackson, Richard Sherman, Bond, Miller, DeAndre Hopkins, Julio Jones and Travis Kelsey.
And in the NHL, it's horrible.
It's even worse than Major League baseball, if that's even possible.
He's he was named.
It also have actually set out to rested body.
He's the only one with over a 1,000,000 followers.
6 11 starters, 11 NHL starters.
So these are the best players in the NHL.
You know they're all stars, too.
Not the face of the league, but definitely people they want to promote and do well.
11 of those guys did not have an account.
My reading that right, yes, and 13 had under 100,000 followers.
So and he had one was just over 3002 which is barely qualifies as a micro influencer.
So this this NHL, I don't know what National Hockey League is up to you, but they're doing a pretty poor job.
Major League Baseball as well in an NFL a little better n ba.
They're dominating it, led by LeBron James, of course, but that's the That's the landscape in terms of outreach, for community engagement with the fans and getting other content, uh, to the fans, bones and what they want to consume, especially during this time where there's no life sports they don't get to see.
You know, that post game interview or even the pre game interview.
A quote in that article.
So that's what we're looking at in terms of overall, just that's kind of an industry update, turning it down to two some Major League baseball action.
This is kind of a minor move.
Brock Stassi, the Open Athletics outfielder slash first baseman, was released.
Hey, actually just signed with the A's on March 21st but the 30 year old hasn't been in the major since 2017 and it didn't look like he was gonna be able to crack the roster this year for the eight for the A's.
Yes, you did pretty good with the Giants double and Triple A billions last year.
He had 302 with a 4 30 slugging, but only hit two home runs in just 28 games.
So maybe he'll hatch on with another team.
But during this grown up virus outbreak and a question marks around, if there even is gonna be off season, I could see him being on the open market for a while and, uh, kind of disappointing.
The CVS contribute to the unemployment rate right now.
That's a disappointing, but he's not gonna be back on the open market.
Andrew McCutchen for the Philadelphia Philadelphia Phillies outfielder.
He said on Thursday that he is going to be ready to go whenever this season begins.
You remember Tore his A C L last year, and he's been recovering ever since, and it looks like he's ready to go whenever whenever it begins, he said.
Now I know whenever the time comes and we were playing again, I'll be ready to go.
So he was actually a pretty big contributor to the fillies before he got her kind of, Ah, not a big pickup with a moderate pickup for the Phillies when they got him last off season as a free agent, leaving the Yankees, formerly with the Giant Street to the Yankees and all before, that was when he was naturally N v p with the Pirates back to 2013.
So that's best for Andrew Andrew McCutchen, but that should be a pretty stacked outfield.
Him in Haven price.
Harper Baby's got angry in there.
If he kind of blossoms into a star, that could be pretty interesting to watch for, ah, a couple of years to come, so it's all I got tickets out on Spotify.
Pascoe Sports Chicks out Twitter at Tasco Sports and Instagram passed through sports I g.
And be sure that Texas little but says text, Let us know your thoughts get in on the conversation.
All right, that's all I got.
