So I'm doing I've on SportsCastr on my end too, So they could see the whole appreciate a choir behind the scenes seeing we talk about some cowboys.
So while multiple streams going Okay, cool. Cool.
I make sure that every tree of heaven too Well, so a drama going I'm gonna throw you off.
Preaching to the choir, um, back another addition.
We knocked out the Patriots.
So it's only right that we have to go toe another historical franchise.
The Dallas Cowboys.
What? Where is he? Got six rings.
That's the sound, Right? Five rings, five.
Raise about those cowboys.
My Minnesota Vikings.
You know, we got just as much as well as they do, but not the suit.
Bos, so we won't catch up.
One day, one century, we will be right there with Kalif Dallas Cowboys.
So anyway, I got to guess for me to other Cowboys stands.
We got careful is not a not a strange guy to the show.
He's been on here pretty opinions out before.
He is from the bottom line. Podcast.
Have you got period from the wreck? Sports What? Co founder of it s o Atlantic, right.
Bring him on a CZ.
We go through this Dallas Cowboys man in it's going.
It's gonna be fun.
So I'm going in.
Just came first is going on, man.
What's going on? Tim? Back.
I've decided to be here.
That was going on.
What's going on, boys so excited to be here talking some cowboys today.
I mean, we could really get right into it.
How's it going previously required.
It is gonna be a back and forth.
I mash up some questions about my take on the cowboy sticks and the ya opinions as fans and as you know, kind of podcasters and things of that nature streamers, and we can go back and forward, and then they're not gonna take all day.
And I love the cowboys.
This this will be a good one.
Um so first off, I want to talk about the recap of the season, How you feel about how I end it, Um, you know, when you got you got you got Jason gave me and fire talk about that later. New cultures.
So my dad will blow job take on the season when it comes to not making the playoffs, having a talented team starting off three.
No, there's that age for me.
At least I was obviously disappointed.
I mean, for the cowboys, the standards always gonna be a bit higher than any other team.
Any other franchise.
Kind of like you just mentioned all the rings, all the money.
You know, Jerry, he's not ever hesitant to spend a dime.
He's gonna go out there and make the headlines.
He's gonna be the the epitome of the Cowboys.
So I think for having that much money and not being able to surpass 500 at this point with the kind of team that we had was absolutely ridiculous.
And, you know, we'll speak about Jason Garrett a little bit further on in the podcast, but, you know, it starts with the coaching.
I think leadership always sets, the tone trickles down.
Jerry Jones can only do so much with a huge pocket.
But at the end of the day, when you're handling football operations, do you want to play for your coach? Like, do you want to go out there? Worked the hardest.
It didn't seem like that eight.
Nate definitely was not up to par, did not make the playoffs, and I obviously don't think that Jason Garrett should have been there last year, but I'm glad to see that they made that move.
Bring in a whole new regime.
If you have that much money, that much talent, you're not able to make it work.
Something seriously wrong up top.
So I'm glad to see how I guess it ended with decisions made their sometimes hard decisions, but at the very just from a football standpoint.
Like, how are you happy with a Nate Nate season as the Dallas Cowboys? When you're gone and know are close to rebuild? Look, you have a team that could compete and you don't make the playoffs like, how are you? How are you happy about that? Yeah.
Um, is it that's absolutely right.
It's funny at the Cowboys fan.
You know you watch Cowboys games closer than anybody else may watch Cowboys games and won any patients to a season closer than anybody else would pay attention.
And it's it's just crazy because it's always the same story.
It's always relevant enough to be there to be in contention with playoff contention, division contention.
But we're never actually truly Super Bowl contention.
Are contenders on? It was just more of the same.
There was so much frustration.
There was so much talent, um, on both sides of the ball and just so much just just underachievement.
It was always a hope whether it was a come here or, you know, ah blown call here or angels fighting ourselves should be seeing ourselves in the foot over and over and over every game.
Um, you know, starting off so well only could be teams below 500 like, do they just such a roller coaster of emotions and frustration.
Um, yeah, I'm glad, you know, but like we all three have said, um, I'm glad we'll talk about Jason Garrett later in the firing and stuff, but, um uh, I don't know.
Part of me feels like this is, it's on purpose.
You know, Jerry is like, Well, you know, if you have a dynasty like the Patriots, people know you for winning.
The Cowboys were always relevant for something, even if it's, you know, choking or whatever it is like.
People are always talking cowbell.
It's more than talk anybody else and businessman's, you know, mine that that makes the money so far, you know, keeping it just to the season.
I'm excited to see what we do in the draft, Excited to see what some new pieces can do.
I like what we don't afraid to see.
I'm sure we'll talk about that at some point.
So feelings, optimism.
But of course, for last season, extreme disappointment.
Now, how do you feel about being Cowboys fans when you what you say is you always in the news for something, whether you first take you always in the news? Whatever it is, we think they didn't prepare Tom Brady versus day digging down.
Next thing you beat beat the Giants, Redskins and Dolphins.
Oh, this team's the best team in the you know in the world and you lose one to seem to still do this in business.
So you're always in the news for something.
It's kind of like, all right, as a fan base man, we have to come.
I'm gonna say lower expectations, but you gotta be locate.
Let's be realistic of what we have and what we don't have.
And how can we compete with these other teams that are we on the level that they are? Even sometimes, you know, you might be 18 18 but the way we talk about you, Perkin, you put me in 13 and three t.
Yeah, because let's say, for example, make him a long time that the bikers and cowboys are very, very similar when it comes to how the rosters build the front office.
Being great, you that you got at least at least solid cultures in the building and you got quarterbacks that may not be the homes and the Russell Listen, but they are the tear right below.
That could get you to a suit boat and wait.
Don't talk about like Okay, well, cowboys into this into this Minnesota candied going through the same exact thing.
But you say you're always in the hairline, So, uh, just real quick.
I feel about always, always be a lots.
I mean, like, some years, it's worse than others.
Obviously, I would say more like 567 years ago.
It seemed like every week someone was getting caught for something someone was doing.
It turned into how the Raiders, I guess, used to be with that connotation.
And it was like, If you want to come here, if you're kind of a trashy person But I have a lot of talent were willing to take that chance on you because we have so much backing behind us.
It's such a low risk opportunity.
And we were one of those franchises that Pacman Jones did, not who you were like.
And even in recent years with David Irving, all these different guys like Randy Gregory, You still on the team? But, uh, the end of the day, I think every team's gonna go take a chance on a player, too, when they're dealing with kind of, ah, shady situation cream months on the Browns.
You know, Tyree kills still plays for the Chiefs, but at the end of the day, I think it was too consistent.
The Cowboys were always just being known as you know, having something negative.
And at the same time we weren't winning.
Super Bowls has been since 1 94 95 since they brought home that last Super Bowl.
And at the end of the day, if you're not winning and you're not there as the Dallas Cowboys and you're making the headlines, you know, with all the negative stuff, it seemed like it became more of a laughing stock of the league.
And everyone wanted to hate the Cowboys because someone wants to see them succeed like no one wants the Patriots to win another ring like no one wants that Cowboys to one another ring.
But at the end of the day, and I think it's more now, people are starting to warm back up to the Cowboys, the prestigious history focusing on winning and, you know, playing good football.
And I think now, with the new coaching staff, if you're gonna bring that crap in here, they're not gonna take it.
I think it's going to start to change.
But at least the last few years, I guess I can say that it's been a little less than I guess 567 years ago.
But at the same time, I can't really say that with confidence because there's been quite a lot of negative headlines around the Cowboys players.
You know, I was the last 23 years, so it's not like that's really completely changed.
But at the end of the day, I think now, instead of so the Cowboys Day secure, it's gonna clap on the sideline.
They're gonna continue to be mediocre, and we're just gonna keep making negative headlines and what's gonna change.
And now I think we all have that hope of like Okay, now we got a new regime in here.
Obviously, Jerry still got that money.
Obviously, players, they're gonna have to be on their toes.
So I think there's just that sense of optimism and hope toe where people feel like it's gonna be taking a little bit more serious and that winning football is going to be the only way for the Cowboys because this is not a rebuilding.
A lot of people here he spent a lot of money.
You tagged, you tagged AKI bronze eat back last year on a big contract you got Mari back like you're bringing this team back.
You've signed amazing veterans.
So I think that right now it's, ah Wind now or nothing kind of mentality for the next 23 years.
It's not just this year because of the moves they made this offseason.
End the length of six contract, and I think with a good draft or two, this championship window will stay open for the next two or three years.
So I think I'm optimistic.
Yeah, and it's one thing you didn't mention when I was thinking you would we, uh, Joseph Randall, Uh, I'm getting arrested.
You green any films? Like every every week.
It was, like up such a such a suspended for four games out.
And it's just like, oh, my gosh, like we just And you gotta talk about this before it seems like ever since you know, Jason, uh, Jason Jones didn't pull the trigger on Randy Moss.
Um, he has he's been, like, up.
You know what? I don't care if they got character issues.
Um, they got talent.
We gotta bring him in here because U C.
C E s rainy mornings are Hall of Famers, then I think that there will be some changes, but, um well, Goto far I like that.
There's just there's a new you know, sometimes you need a new voice and get everything.
Everything you said, Um, hopefully like that.
It seems like the coach is changing, too.
Like hey, like winning is the only thing that matters.
More headlines no more.
You know, cheerleaders No more.
Now we have we have to produce the football field.
This team was too good.
We're bringing them all back.
Really lost one major piece, major major, But we lost a couple of pieces, but one major major piece of Iron Jones.
But we're coming back like we're not No, no more of this nonsense, like it's time.
It's time to get right.
It's kind of going to move in a new direction in the first in the best way to do that is with a new voice, which is, you know, where the McCarthy comes, right? So Jason cares out.
So Jason Gege, what three seasons a boat with double digit wins out of the 9.
5 seasons he was there, do you.
Obviously, the goal is to win a Super Bowl.
But when you look back at Jason gets state with the Cowboys.
How the demon a success or like, what kind of grade would you give him? Even even with the added pressure? I don't know.
Like I said, we'll talk about how pressure Cowboys is so monument.
But it's like and the coachman.
Look, baby, look what he's done his record get in those 9/2 season.
What kind of grade would you give him? C plus B minus.
You know, at the end of the day, he didn't fumble the bag completely.
You know, he still had some winning football.
I think at the end of the day is a lot of pressure to be the Cowboys coach.
When things go wrong, you have to point the finger.
But, you know, I don't even feel good about giving him a B minus.
And I'm gonna get in that seat.
Carlos, you know, he passed, You know, he was almost good enough to get that be.
I mean, at the end of the day, when you have, you know, a feast put in front of you you're gonna eat.
You know, it's not like he went out and did anything to win a game for the Cowboys.
I never once watched a game, saw him on the sideline and was like that was magical coaching right there.
Like he just you like.
Remember how Vrabel completely out Bill Belichick's Bill Belichick in the playoffs like any game that you watch of the Buffalo Bills with McDermott, who is probably the smartest coach in the league, but the least vocal.
He's not this crazy offensive schematic do, but I'm watching him win football games for the ****ing Buffalo Bills.
Excuse my language, but you know, at the end of the day, he is like, You can see it, you can feel it.
McVeigh Not last season.
But you can feel that the year before, like he had talent.
But he was went in some of these games like he was single handedly outperforming players on the sideline, and I never once got a feel that he had that in him or even had the ability to rally a players and make them want to reach from within and fight for one common goal, which is at the end of the day, the definition of a leader.
It's rallying the troops to all fight for one common goal together.
And not once did you at home watch TV and say, Wow, if I was playing, I want to run through a wall for Jason Garrett.
Look at that passion on the sideline like never once did those words ever leave your mouth or even enter your head.
So at the end of the day, this whole monotone clapping thing is good enough, you know, you're somehow gonna keep it here, but you never Once they're gonna make it exciting, you're never gonna win a game yourself.
You're never gonna get these players to reach deeper than just the amazing talent that we've signed for ca jillions of dollars.
So at the end of the day, the ownership is great, you know, he's doing everything he can.
Obviously, you're not gonna agree with some of the things he says, but he's never been, you know, shy ever the Packers during McCarthy's time.
Scott, like $6 like a bag of potato chips throughout free agency during McCarthy's entire tenure, which is a big reason why he ended up parting ways with the Packers there.
It wasn't necessarily his fault.
He wanted Super Bowl.
You know, the guy's a phenomenal coach, and they never once spent any money in free agency to go get him any kind of top tier talent.
And it's not like we can look back and say, Wow, the Packers just completely killed draft after draft after draft.
It's not like that happened.
You know Aaron Rodgers is ago. He's amazing.
But you have to give credit to coaching staff.
You have to give credit to what she got.
You know, to say that would be a B minus would just be way too generous, because I'd be using outside factors to give him that extra goose when in reality, I think he was a C plus coach because he wasn't the worst.
But it's not enough.
Um, see this one, this one, I'm really I'm really it's a real title with me on this, uh, do your point.
I'm so glad you said him.
I said this on my podcast.
You know, I watched a game where he, uh, was about.
It was like field goal time into the second quarter.
Clearly is gonna kick a field goal.
He came out and he just you know, you can take your time outs with you after.
So he came out and showed a set, and whoever it waas showed what they were gonna do against that set, he just took a time out.
And the commentator said, I'm so glad they did.
They said, you know, he was never gonna run a play off you want to do was see what they're gonna do.
Well, next time he shows that formations on the S something for it, like me.
And that's the kind of stuff that you don't like.
Jason Garrett doesn't have that Emma Jason Garrett wasn't was an amazing coordinator, and I think that that's where he belongs.
He was a great football mind, especially as a coordinator.
However, that was 9 10 years ago in the game changes.
And as a head coach, you don't really I have enough time to change how you scheme now because you have a whole you know, a whole team around you.
He don't think it was really built to be a head coach.
And given that he I don't think he was ever really built to be a head coach? Um, well, I guess the personality be a head coach.
When I look back at it, I Honestly, I probably give him I probably wouldn't be.
Maybe even a B plus.
And here's why I was here.
Yeah, In his nine years, you went 85 67.
There were three playoff appearances.
Uh, two playoff wins, Um, which isn't great.
Not a high percentage in the four and forth.
The other years he was in a winning in game.
In other words, when what? It was weak 17 or reach 16.
It was always for the division when you're in okay and then the other two.
So that makes six of the other of the nine his quarterback her telling Roman with a broken collarbone on multiple occasions.
So when you look at that, you know, a lot of times when people are talking to you, asking like, would you rather win one? Would you have to go in when one Super Bowl and they never go to the playoffs for the next 15 years? Would you have to be there? You know, being a conversation, whether it it's the super Bowl or just the playoffs are in contention every year.
Most people would say, I'm gonna be in contention every year for 20 years and maybe one and hopefully what a Super Bowl? A supposed I get one guarantee Super Bowl, but then that's it.
And so when you look at that, you know, he did enough to always be there when he had his stuff or when he had his people At seven of the nine years on, Can I get it? You know, mediocrity is not something that you strive for in the NFL.
You want you wanna win it, that the ultimate goals, what is your quote? But it's like, you know how many better options are out there where you go.
We wait the playoffs last year, miss it in the next year.
We made the two people in the next year.
We know Atlanta Falcons make a Super Bowl.
I haven't been to playoff sense like that kind of stuff.
Or is it like, Oh, we could win the division this year? Are we producing things this year? So that's why I got to give him a beat, because I think that given the fact that I don't think he ever was even really the kind of personality to actually work being a head coach.
So given that disadvantage, given the injuries, given the suspensions given the team he's playing for how he handles it, um, I would say that he did a good job.
I didn't Do you still think it was time for a change? But I would say that I couldn't say I can't say that He's a great head coach top here, but I can't say he's bad.
And I think that he did all you could ask.
When you really go, look back, all of it.
You know? Can you really expect Jason Garrett to go galvanize troops once? We both know and that wasn't the case and you get and that's the same thing.
Same answer to the question 10 years ago, Um, so I think that really the onus comes down to Jason here was probably never the best decision to beat the head coach.
But what he has done, or what he wasn't able to do is more of a is more of a a product of the situation in product of the fact that Maybe he was never supposed to be the guy in the first place as opposed to his shortcomings.
Yeah, I would say the same thing is for us.
He probably never said that.
Got the job in the first place.
Oh, you know Jones love him? A You know what it got? Just get it does have a personality.
Shoot around the league.
He is that he is, like, about So, you know, that's why Jerry Jones one, because he kind of want he didn't want that Jimmy Johnson.
Even though Jimmy Castor warned bringing in Super Bowls, he doesn't.
And he got ourselves in there when it was great, But it is like his life is like he he's lying.
Jerry Jones had his hand too much in the pipe and for Jason here.
And that's why I think it is.
How kind of hearts up give him up.
What type of great.
That's covering the affairs because, Okay, he got somebody bringing giant snake who likes to be micromanaged.
You like to have the boss right there, looking at everything you do, which I understand for only because this is this is your baby.
That This is your franchise.
This is the way you make money.
But it's like, OK, four way done for the Ross said he was giving me.
We have turned our room.
What? What sort of Ramos sure comes didn't have the office of line.
The defense wasn't great.
Okay, Then he started Jennifer the defense Get him office of line and then not his health deteriorates.
Now you have the gold.
He got lucky, in my opinion.
You get lucky with that Prescott.
And okay now, not that Prescott on the rising young guys on the rise.
Okay? The defense is still here, up and down a little bit.
We don't have that guy shot a pig in a bed.
Check most of the guys who can take this what I got.
And even though I'm a eight when team were, that's where this win it.
We've succeeded with 1 17 We should already be a little win team.
If you have that right kind of copes was like That's why you can't give him a while.
You can't really give him a B plus, but then again, it is It is a nice spot.
It's hard to have.
Ah, good backup instead of sustaining it is fair, is very, very most sense rented that happening.
But you still you still you still had times where you ate and ate, and you you should've insensitive.
Or sometimes you probably could have been six and 10.
And because Justin Gary is a solid, good head coach couldn't year, he can get you a date and put your position where? Okay, we really we really problems that have top seven pick cooking dinner.
But the question is that it isn't Jason Garrett fighting and clawing his way for to get that team to eight Nate compared to a six and 10 season.
Or is that just the fact that when you're given a feast, you eat like when people put food on the table for you and it's plentiful, like sometimes that's gonna make it so.
Move right there like it's not like he went out of his way, you know, moved any pieces around.
He never once made a huge substitution himself that, you know, really, really changed this franchise or really stood up to Jerry, Jones said how he felt on the kind of guy he needed here.
Why am I not winning right now? I need this.
I need him. I need her.
I need whatever it is on the coaching staff or the players, Whatever.
Maybe like never once did he run this team that he take this team to any more wins than they had.
Like I said, there was never once on the sideline, that key mate.
He could call plays well, absolutely going to much better this year.
As an offensive coordinator, he's back to his comfort zone.
But like you said, Kev O, it's 10 years ago was the last time you played, You know, offensive coordinator Paul Column plays like we got clipped clings Mary, you got McVeigh.
You've got all these different guys who or just changing the game at the end of the day.
And is he prehistoric like we're gonna have to see that when he's with the New York Giants.
But I could tell you one thing right now is never once like Wow, because Jason Carroll was the coach, like he made a couple of good decisions and got a couple extra winds of anything every season was a 10 and 6 11 win season.
Whatever it may be, and the reason why we were eight, Nate was because of him.
Not because the lack of talent that we had it at the end of the day, yeah, why aren't the players playing as well as they should? Together? You got to again look back to the coaching.
You know Jerry Jones can't pay them.
You know, extra money before the game is an extra bill.
Go out on ball like they're going to go out and try every game.
But you know, not once where I felt like they were put in the position to succeed more than they just already were with just having a stack team. And you're right.
There were multiple times, like with injuries, like with Romo and stuff.
So it's not like he had a perfect 10 years where it's like, Hey, you had a decade of no issues.
Why didn't you win? So you got to give him, you know, some flexibility there, So I got really that, of course.
But at the same time, you know what's the model? Nowadays? You win a championship on with a quarterback that's most likely on a rookie contract.
You use those years to build the team around that guy.
There's a reason why that's now the model.
And you had not just Jack right there but Zeke at the same time, grooming and still putting people all over the place.
The defense was formidable the last few years.
Most definitely, and you still can't get it done.
It's just like you no longer working with the old pieces.
You got even have more of a revamped team, younger guys, more athletic. You got this.
You get more creative, you know? Never once did he.
I think it was just Dad going out showing up, using his opportunity z guest with the suspension.
But that year, with him as a suspension and then missing the playoffs to Jason Garrett, deserve a five year extension.
Five year extension like what kind of decision is that I get? Maybe, don't don't know, knock him out.
I'm not saying that was the time Where you firing I personally as a fan was yelling for it, of course, but still you know.
But at the end of the day you don't go out and give him a five year extension.
Think that That earned that, you know? So I think it was more.
Yes, maybe it's not necessarily his fault.
Jerry Jones Yes, gave him the job.
Maybe when he wasn't ready for, didn't deserve it and extended him when? Maybe it wasn't the best move, too.
But at the same time, he's very family oriented Jerry Jones and they are very close.
Him and Gary was a huge emotional, you know, separation towards the end so I could understand why he held on.
I don't know what you know.
Choices were out there for coaches, but there's definitely been a Mike McCarthy out there once a year for the last 10 years, I'll tell you that.
You know, I was always recreate their father to go.
So we got we got a little four sports, Rhodey that that me and Rashad has ah, came up with about how we think the NBA NFL go.
So one of the rules that we have is the coaches specialty.
Should be the team's recipe now mean it.
Meaning is if you're if you're guilty, you're defensive, no matter what the talent is no matter how great or poor the roster.
Maybe on defense, because you're that before, because your defensive minded usually know how to put guys in the right situation to succeed in your system because you're getting the right guys for your assistant, right? So what I think is a couple coaches day that really just play the middle? Oh, the tea.
Where, for example, Boston Raiders? John Harbaugh is the guy.
He's the guy with the game plan, but you got office coordinator.
It's according to a couple of shots, and he's the guy overall.
And I think I think doesn't get it belonged in that category as well. We're here.
That's kind of why you know, you know, the defense may have not been as great one year or even with a Tony Romo going down or even with ah Young court that day.
It's not gonna be is not gonna be how you know, for example, Drew Brees get hurt and Teddy Bridgewater shopping good enoughto treat that team afloat or his side like a rebel.
A traitor when you know he let Taylor Jones go, he he traded tile on it.
And that way you'll ever to see Margo and still yet still have a pass for us to have a good corner.
So it's kind of late for him. It's kind of disadvantage.
That's a disadvantage come to those kind of coaches.
Hardball's just Gary.
I would say I would say Peek heroes in that same class because even though he's defensive receiving, got all the guys for his coaching tree get job because they didn't run the defense.
But that's why it's kind of off those guys. Really.
Do you know Bebe is great when they don't have the players? And you could say it. John Rebus.
Where? Colby? Carol They probably most lists were having top five, but it's like, Okay, what if you don't have the Mark Jackson? What if he doesn't have the Mall, the Humphreys and Terrell Suggs and Ray Lewis and all those guys? What we have to deal with, uh, injured Lamar Jackson and I have to go through all the season with you know, they have adhesive buy or pick Kara Wei talk about it.
I don't think that's the Our roster is good at all.
And yet he got Russell Russell, after the Russell Wilson goes down, can get a guy who was in the middle, you know, still keep it on.
And that's what I think doesn't get a phone.
That is, like, he just those have a coach just changed.
Uh, just elevated, went with Something goes wrong, and I think he should have been out here 215.
But, you know, you can't I guess you can't really get him out of here.
When a court making her situations.
I could understand it, but, you know, it was a little bit too long.
Long overstayed, long overdue.
Jason is Jerry Jones was problem because I'm history repeats itself, and he's doing it again now.
When Jason here was the offense, a coordinator, he was allowed to call plays.
I don't really know what it was.
A game plan per se, but as far as on the place, 100% Jason Garrett Jason Garrett played quarterback for the Cowboys.
He's been like I was organization for, like, over 20 something huge like this involved, and Jerry loves this dude and wants to keep him around.
Jason Garrett was always at some point, gonna be the head coach when you look at it.
You looking at use the quarterback.
They let it like they were letting him as the third string tobacco quarterback.
Don't be in the coach's meetings like going over the game plan for the for the neck like that.
Like that's That was their vision for him always.
And so now I'm looking and I'm like, Okay, now you got evermore quarterback.
Now he's officer coordinator.
He's 100% officer game plan, according to Jason, Garrett was telling Morse, All the sub's is Kelly Morris.
Tell me where you got all this control.
So I see this history repeating itself, which makes it like, you know, I don't think, you know, Jerry Jones doesn't want to Jimmy Johnson or a Bill Parcells or ah harm Edwards because they want to run the ship and they want Jerry, I want you to go set the box.
Meet the owner like like like my orders.
No one understood me.
Oh, it's like Jerry has to be like I gotta be on the field.
I gotta be a practice.
And if Zeke's not, it's equally out of all 12 time allowed to call you out immediate, Like, you know, I got a free down your throat.
And so, you know, I don't think that Jason Garrett ever felt empowered enough to say, Yo, Jerry, I need this.
I need this from you.
I need you to spend the money to do this or whatever, because he spent 20 plus years watching the coaches that do that get shipped out when they didn't need to.
So he's like, I'm gonna keep this job that I can just Yeah, I think it was about retention more about job or attention, let alone let me take these chances and go be, you know, in an innovator.
Or go out there and do something or say something that hasn't been done.
So I don't think he's got an ounce of a bone in his body that under that No, But I do love what you said.
Like the cowboys win their great mate.
Those weren't years, Probably where they weren't gonna be six and 10 without Jason here.
Like Jason Garrett, I don't think elevated the Cowboys anyways, like not one literally No, that's a That's a coach, that suggestion here when right there, it never once I watch football with the very ****ytical lens.
You know, I love sports.
I'm sure like you guys do to the core.
Like when I'm watching things, I watch it weird and especially the team that I love.
Like I'm really looking at every Why is this not working? And I'm watching these **** washing our side.
And I'm like, If I'm if I strapped on the jersey right now, do I want to run through a wall for him and ask myself that every game and the answer every time would be like, No, Why is he here like, why is he on the sidelines? So I mean, I don't have to have that can play anymore.
My biggest thing with him is that he's so stuck in his own way. He's one of those guys.
He probably has the same routine in his daily life that he's has elastic.
You think the same protein shake in the morning for 40 years and this time make this food this way? Go here, go get like you know, I show what Whatever game that Waas.
I think it was just the Eagles of fourth down and you gotta Mark Cooper Zico Cylon because that's the normal substitution rotation that they do every game.
I just like, Oh, it doesn't matter that it's winner winner Go home again.
Stay the same way no matter what, Like cool, we cool.
We grow into right now why we got break jar win in the game with the other backup tight end and Michael Gallop and Tony Pollard on fourth and nine.
But we're supposed to get that in Philadelphia late.
I just makes no sense like you.
I don't understand.
That's that's what they described him.
We'll move on what time I McCarthy toward the end, All right.
So I can't talk about the front office when we talk about Jerry Jones and it's really more so about the draft, right? So because well, that's when it all comes down to when they talk about the roster that you currently have the guy that you're drafted, some hits and some misses and college to be where you at now as faras money situation on the choose between people, it's stuff like that.
So first no one's own.
Don't talk about the bad.
It's really just to the last few dressed as well.
That's all of it by last 45 Dress so hard to to drive.
What'd I just say? That the, uh, just a 11 line status about their decision on this First of all last year, Tristan.
So second round A, You're so says it's only is only one year, but you're an outsider to attack was already let one go and brought two more where he's supposed to be the guy to go in there.
And then secondly, another part of the live Truiden tacos Sheldon on T. J.
What? So just listen to that right there is.
This is this is this thing a gram? Well, Wilma crate is such a good stuff.
They have so well everywhere else.
I'm talking like you got.
You got all pros in Travis, Friend, you're tired.
You've got everywhere else.
But the deal on for some reason, they cannot figure it out like they really cannot.
I don't understand Rod Marinelli, too.
And that's like his bread and butter, too.
And so I thought they were going on.
And like, he's more concerned about bringing in people they used to play for him on defense as opposed, like finding the best.
There have been some players on defense, like a safeties.
The guy was a driving on it.
Lord have mercy.
I can't I can't talk the church and no one is a year he.
But he got to got to Dallas That really got, got in trouble for doing something, Mr.
So I got sent home from practice, like so.
He had some growing to do already.
But I can't get over.
I can't The talk of a man like that one bothers me like my course and like, Look, I got some of the drafts and funding right here.
You look at last year, which was really a big snoozer besides Tony Pollard in the fourth round, which I was a big fan of, I was like, Hi, upside.
This is the perfect running back for today's NFL.
Go get yourself a little Sproles or go out there.
Try and match with Tamara was doing with the Ingram yet.
Maybe it's a poor man's version, but like look at Kevin Singletary like I thought it was fabulous so that one I'm never going to debate Tristen.
I was like, We need a guard, but not this one. Not now.
Like it just wasn't the right time to reach our that Connor Connor p Maybe lesson.
Right? And at the end of a media guards, I wasn't like to piston that Tristan Hill house. I saw Tony Pollard.
I was like, That's great.
Then they go Quarterback Mike Jackson to go.
Joe Jackson, Donovan Wilson, Mike Webber.
So it's more white.
We haven't seen too much.
It can really make too much of an impression on some of these guys who haven't had too much of a chance when you go two years before that.
Like late in Banda Ration 2018 was number one fabulous pick. I thought that was fantastic.
Matching up with you know, the linebackers that already they're taking over for Sean Lee. Fantastic.
Connor Williams, second round.
Another great pick.
He should have been picked in the first.
He slipped great dying.
Michael Gallop, third round, huge contributor last year.
He's gonna be even bigger.
That spirit Dorrance Armstrong.
You know he hasn't shut up too much Dalton Schultz, Mike White, Chris Covington, said Wilson.
Both Scarborough. So, like you can see there.
At least there was so many bright spots.
And the year before you start with Taco Charlton and that blew my mind.
Like when that happened, the rest of the draft I was actually really happy with.
I'm not gonna lie that draft overall.
If they continue to draft that, I would have freaked out like in.
But like after taco, when they went to Adobe a lose A like when they went a Cheeto.
I was like, That's a high energy guy Watched him a lot because I went to Arizona State.
So I watched the three different Pac 12 matchups with him at Colorado and loved how he played.
So I was a great pick.
Jordan Lewis, back to back like our secondary.
So trash, it hurts like this is fantastic.
One of that is going to pan out.
One of them are on.
Jones is going to leave at some point.
That was in my Ryan Switzer.
I was so pumped about this bacon ****.
It didn't work out, but like still, you know, same thing.
Marquez White one with another corner.
Joey Ivie, Noah Brown, Jordan, Carol Right there.
And that your before I'm not gonna go through all of them.
But that was the year that was seek Jalen Smith.
Dak Prescott, like Rico gathers, which never worked out.
But that was interesting in the seventh round, like a really cool project.
But you can see how year after year the drafting is actually really impressive, which is even more of a nod.
Like why you isn't Jason Garrett making this work when you have so much Not just veterans, that air seasoning, Not just signings that Jason Jerry Jones is doing like no problem.
But you're getting these infiltration of youth on talent in deep drafts, and you can't do anything with it.
You know, the year before that Byron Jones, Randy Gregory, Chazz Green.
Like Jesus, like, how many times do you need to kill a draft and still not succeed? So I think for the front office, with the drafting, I give that like an A minus throughout the last 10 years.
Throughout his time there, you know, I keep going back, but you know, Travis Frederick cabinets for.
You know, all these guys, they built the best offensive line for, like, a three or four year span that ever played football ever.
Give me a better one like you can't like.
At that point, that was the most dominant offensive line that ever got put together like so when it comes to drafting, I'm gonna give the front office and a minus.
I would say for that.
So it even makes it more sad the way you still have been able to find the success.
But, you know, like we just mentioned, you know, you gotta take advantage of these guys on rookie contracts and, you know, going out and getting a guy like Jack and see, like, you know, that time is gone now.
So it's like, Are you gonna hit gold again? You know, Are you gonna You know, you guys spent all this money? What happens next year? You know, when other players their contracts are up, like let's say we don't do well in the draft this year like there's just a lot of what ifs, because we missed that that window when we really struck gold, you know, year after year and I think now it's just can the front office keep up? That type of caliber of drafting is it's impressive from the scouts to the front office.
But, you know, how many years are you going to kill it? And how many times you gonna draft Taco Charlton, you know, are another delight for Tristan in, like, how many times you gonna must mess that up and have to find a local battle for the rest of the drought here? I mean, yeah, it's like all these all these great picks.
And it's like, Why is the d line the one where you make snakes? Like, just like when we got Jordan Lewis the third round.
Like, first of all, I was like, Yo, Jordan Lewis is gonna be better than Cheeto.
I like them both willing.
I just I just can't forget John Lewis at Michigan like one on one.
You know what side plate advantage I was like, Who is this you played? I p I you know, I didn't do enough research there, so Yeah, I'm with a A minus those.
You can't get a plus because they when they make the mistakes that bad was staying God, they make it A to that.
To that point is kind of like our because you're a guy at the draft of your heating, Your heating your heading constantly.
Yes, he's like you have had the hiccups with interest here, where we can really like that we can't really break it.
But his life, okay, they're showing us that they don't like you because you're bringing in guys who are 30 plus your play in front of a young stud.
But I think that goes back to like the winning now, Like I think with Mike McCarthy and them coming in, it's like this is a three championship window.
We have talented guys, they will contribute, but, like, do we want them to start right now? Just because it was the move that the last Virgin maid or am I gonna put the best guy that I can physically get into that hole and think that that's gonna win me a Super Bowl in? Let's say that you know Connor McGovern interested hills just the one that blew blossoms into this beautiful flower behind some of these veterans.
But, you know, to sit here and put all the pressure on these young guys back, and I think the coaching staff nowadays and Jerry is a little bit more aggressive right now is all I have to say.
I think right now it's just that way now.
And even though it might contradict some of the last picks, it's a different direction for the team.
So, like they drafted with a certain direction in mind and you gotta turn right now.
So it's, you know, maybe some of the signings might not make sense with the past few years. I agree with you.
But like you mentioned, Kev Oh, what's wrong with the defensive line? Why can't we figure it out? So, what you gonna do? You're gonna go out and bringing way bringing McCoy bringing some talent, you know, See if it takes the pressure off tank and some of the other guys on there and hopefully with a new defensive coordinator, you know, awesome defensive coordinator.
Hopefully they can blossom and really figure out that out in identity, because the secondary is not gonna be the identity this year.
We're gonna have to get pressure, you know? Are you know, depending on who we get in the draft, You know, the second is not the best, but I do like that.
Clinton Dix signing though I do.
You like that one a lot? Not nothing magical, but I've been waiting for a safety that knows what they're doing for like five years.
Right? So you hit on.
See you hit on day.
You don't belt killed Jenna Smith.
It'll vendor ish, uh, deal.
Oh, I mean, the list goes on the interesting.
And we talk about Tyrone Smith, the Frederick the Marlin Visto Lyman league.
And then on top of that, I'm gonna say you hit on Marku because you treated a friend around for all without without being see it.
You're And this is my fear.
With house capitalizes, you don't want to trend the direction that we see.
L A Rams going when it comes to we're paying, we're paying, we're paying.
And it's kind of like these that these decisions you have to look at three.
Like you said, three year window of a championship.
You got a look at these.
This audience decisions in three years and it's like, Okay, we drafted vendors we know after after that year.
Yeah, you know, You gotta pay him topped up.
He's gonna be one of the best linebackers in the league for a long time for games and spread the bag you gave the lot of you.
Uh, you you have to sit in this summer with that Cooper Byron Jones you're also worried about Will be as a moron.
We got Tyrell Smith.
They making top dollar their positions.
Okay, How are we going to afford all these guys? Who can we let go? Who can we realize? Okay, we may not need you as much as a Don't mean we don't need you.
Just not as much of this other guy.
So it is with a couple things.
So one disease, get the line.
So I think that's just crazy, as at all as it is, like you got the weight will turn in a situation where we have to go to with your picks.
And I don't know, maybe they had a force his hand.
But, you know, when you draft order bait, that huh? It's like, OK, I probably have to pay him because I waste out wasted a top five pick on a guy Could have ads in the Rams for opposition that last longer than their running so way after the kind of give him what he wants, even though he's skipping the line.
So we already got that.
Assuming that that made the inside pages Smith.
They decided to know this offseason this this is Britt.
This franchise tag Dad was bringing Cooper back.
We go let Brian Jones.
Well, now we can talk about this all the time.
They should have been payday because now they're in this situation where he's gonna make, he's going, he's gonna make it.
He's gonna make dirt fire still lingering.
Now it's just lingering now and now it's like Krupp like now that's on her mind.
And when this year is all about, like, **** what we're gonna do in the year before that, I was like, What we do about Zeke, you know? So now it's just like it's just another question mark.
I mean, so far they figured out, See, they figured out bringing back Imari Dak Prescott still playing footballs on the reality.
The last two huge situations they've been they've hit, you know, they figured it out, you know.
But at the end of the day like I agree with you.
There is that fear that, like, it's gonna catch up to you.
And can you keep that? You know, can you hit again the draft? Like, you know, it's a different way.
We mean the general public of the NFL.
And we report back the way we do where we trade one of the other piece to go up 10 spots to get the quarterback board or we're gonna pay.
We're gonna pay.
Like Kirk Cousins, Jimmy G, a friend, Scott.
We're gonna pay them $35 million.
Okay, then why wouldn't he be first in line, right? And then because you took care of early, which I guess they was deciding that we like him.
Is he good enough? Are gonna move on from him and is like to me, he should have been a priority.
A when he comes to it, I understand this assessment team is through the running game, but as one of my rules, Logan, please.
I don't like the pain running backs because I feel like I run it by committee is just as strong as a lead horse.
Yes, or my favorite players.
Agent Peterson and you know he's a bell cow bay.
And of course, you know, six and Caffrey's, that's all.
It was all good to watch, but it's like, What's wrong with the shell? Uh uh, James White was the white guy Birkett Nate Burkett as a tandem versus a ese right? So it's got like, Okay, where we prioritizing where we're going and all that stuff in.
Another question I want an answer to is I didn't mean that some point for Top 25 receipt.
I think he could get out that he can have that he can have that Chris Darling here that it just happened.
I think that he's a guy that can that can be that number two receiver.
But he's really a one beat, you know, saying I think he's capable of that.
And it's so if he does hit that mark, well, we gotta pay him too old.
They don't and kind of similar to fights in.
My Vikings were all first team we don't need to pay two top sees is that there's no point and it's like these Trey happen, so it's kind of saying in here now that we decided on Cooper, and we decided that Joe let him go.
That means reborn with with our David Ross there.
Yeah, I was a little anti brand.
Who's a we're going with with, uh, George Lewis ever going with those that trio.
It's that I haven't Byron Jones.
That means my Miguel.
When your time is up, it's time to go.
So so the other.
They made the right decision.
There is well, as well as the money situation's a little premature to see if we made the right decision just depending on gallops really production this year.
Because last year I mean he was a top 20 fantasy wide receiver at the end of the year, in no matter what format you played in, he was top 20.
So the guy was putting up numbers.
You know, Mari, it's fun with tomorrow because it's like sometimes for some reason he caught two passes for 16 yards and then the next day and he comes out and puts up 600 receiving yards and four touchdowns and you're like what? You know, I mean, so it's I would like that happened a lot with Mari, and that's fine.
I will take that You know, I'm not complaining at all.
And there's a reason why Gallop is doing so well.
It's because of all the attention that Omar is getting, but back to your question about do I think you made the right decision.
I think Byron Jones is one of he's going to be one of the best quarterbacks in this league, no doubt one of the defenders, honestly, because he's very like Tyrone Matthew, like in reality, like you could put him on a corner or safety nickel like you can play him anywhere and he's got.
He's an Olympian like he is legit Olympic athleticism and speed and the I Q is not even.
It's insane if you look at his wonder luck and all these different things, like he's a genius when it comes to, you know, football terms.
So for him, I loved Byron Jones, but at the end of the day, he made a lot of money, a serious amount of money for a quarterback, and he deserved it.
Don't get me wrong, but I think here the Cowboys wanted to continue to like we need an identity.
What is our identity with the most high powered offense in the league, if not one of them.
Right now, we have the Patriots down.
The Rams aren't doing too well.
You have a lot of questions around that were the highest you know at the full potential, fully healthy, best offenses all around.
And I think now the Cowboys have to be in contention with everyone returning.
But now it's like, Are you running Tony Romo back? You know where you're giving up 25 or 45 50 points a game and hoping that Jack and See, can you really shoulder all this? But I do have faith in the young cornerbacks that air there, but at the same time, I don't think that's the game plan.
I think in the draft this year it's a serious plug and play for Byron Jones.
Obviously, the production is not gonna be completely matched.
But guys like to Dobie guys like Jordan Lewis.
We're taking that next step in their evolution as football players on their rookie contracts.
You can go and get a guy like you know, any any of the cornerbacks in this draft right now are very intelligent.
CJ Henderson is just my go to guy at the pick that we have, and if not, you could move back.
You can go get gigs.
You can go get a ton of different cornerbacks, even in the second round.
So I think right now for me, I'm looking for Byron Jones, his replacement in the draft, because, yes, there's other holes that we could fill throughout the draft.
But if there is one glaring like, wow, this is really gonna hurt us.
The linebacking linebacker is not bad d line A lot of potential with the signings and the attention that has gotten, you know, the entire offense don't even give me any debate like they're they're fine.
You know? I'm John wants to have a big year, but at the end of the at the end of the day, that's secondary without Byron Jones.
How it is it improved, you know? I mean, how Clinton Dix, you know, having him coming at safety like it's definitely gonna add that good veteran presence in the locker room.
Good signings this season.
But I think at the end of the day you don't go out there and go get a guy that can, if not right away at some point very soon.
Step in the bar and Jones's foot or are into his shoes.
Or at least bring enough to with this three or four some that you got going on the secondary, they could just hold it down.
But I definitely think this finding Barham Joses replacements gonna be number one.
But if you put a gun to my head and said Sign tomorrow, you're Byron Jones.
I'm signing a Mari.
You know, if you ask me, I want to win a championship this year and I don't think bringing back Bar and Jones letting Amar ego and having a receiving corps of Gallup in who is a championship caliber offense.
I don't think so at all.
I think this was also with me, too, because I brought up from that.
Didn't even think about um yeah, sign and Cooper over.
Byron Jones is basically also saying a gallop like it's gonna you're not gonna stay around.
I didn't think that either.
People usually don't keep to two receiver signed.
You think about the last year there've been angles, however, they won their division, there was A J.
Green Seenu and Marvin Jones.
Next thing you know, So news gone and market Jones going to camp, Everybody in the office.
So I'm gonna go another back trash, literally.
Just want todo eso uh, kind of stress.
Um, my thing with Byron Jones is to me when he has the opportunity, just make enough place like it's one thing to be there in basketball.
It's one thing to play be their defense.
I'm always there.
It's another thing to block the shot, you know, and Brian Jones in his car and went to picks.
I was at one of the games here.
Pick six against the Redskins.
It was picked because was tipped by somebody else.
He ran over and take it to the House life.
That's not enough plays.
Um, he's got like like you said an Olympian.
The athleticism is unreal.
But two, maybe three years ago, the draft before we that you're from a galaxy in the fourth paper we were We were running with Matt Cassel and, uh, uh, telling war but bright spot with Jordan Lewis Andalusia as rookies coming in there and taking those number one into a cornerback roles And the defense was never the problem.
It was always like a blow.
It was always like we were up like 13 to 9 but couldn't get one stops.
Like that was how the whole season went.
I think that Jordan Lewis, floozy and Brown this trio.
They remind me a lot of Boston Celtics when they went to the playoffs and went to the conference finals.
Without Isiah Thomas, you could see what they could do.
But then they brought in.
Kyrie just kind of stunned the growth.
So now Rose here, all of a sudden isn't doing. He's supposed to.
Caleb Brown's not do what he was supposed to do at this point.
Jason Tatum is not doing where he's supposed to be at this point, not Harry's gone.
Here they come again.
This is what they do.
And I think that the Pirate I don't wanna compare power goes to carry Urban.
But I think that this is that we saw three years ago what these three could do together, but because we have our girls playing safety at that time I was here was playing quarter that that lower Lewis's snaps a time.
Every time you lose on the field, he makes a play no one can deny every time.
So it's like these guys are gonna get a chance.
Is this? It's their show.
You got hot cream ****s on the backs that that's a nice A nice shiny at least for a while.
We'll go ahead and balloon up at nice.
Look, David finally feel for a year, really qualify you mom, but that's another story for another time.
But I think that the Cowboys have already done it where they said, All right, let's just go with a bunch of just yeah receivers and we end and let's see what we could do.
Um, and they traded a first round pick for Mark Cooper.
I don't think they want to trade another first round pick another receiver, uh, this year, and you can see the difference that it made the second Amari Cooper landed in Dallas.
It was a completely different Jack Prescott, a completely different teams, and you asked what I look for in a first round pick.
Someone of that caliber.
So impacts brings my next point.
I think that signing Cooper over Jones not only says gallops, this is gonna be if you're gonna stay.
But it also kind of shows you the lack of trust.
There is, in fact, that they've shown with the contract.
I think that they don't know if they believe that that Prescott can't do it without, you know, quote unquote bailout receiver.
Like you just mentioned it.
The numbers don't lie.
It's a from seeing the different quarterback with the Mark Cooper without.
I think the Cowboys see that and it's like, Okay, well, we can't trust our quarterback is gonna play it that Pro Bowl, you know, for the 1st 5 weeks anyways, M v p.
Level without this, we've tried not having everyone receiver before.
Maybe they don't you know, you don't see what we see A friend.
We don't know what they see in practice with Gala Baby.
They don't necessarily think he's ready yet, but Byron Jones is gonna need a big payday.
We can probably roll with the three guys who have shown the potential, and we can try to work on making sure we keep our office of our offense.
You know where it is to be a crab.
Go draft three corners in the draft this year who cares.
Just go put as many of them on the rosters is physically possible and just see what happens.
Like at the end of the day, drafting on the positions is nice, but like, we're pretty stacks, like everywhere right now.
So at the end of the day, like the signs were great.
The team that is currently there is great.
So go out and just fill this secondary and see if you can really find, you know, locked down secondary along with one of the most high powered offense in the league.
That's championship or that office one.
And I'm always not saying that Frederick like, yeah, I counter Williams.
Solid little Carlos loved Tyron Smith.
Morning. But that center like like mooning, mooning.
Okay, he's solid.
But, like, Okay, Connor McGovern government.
I'm all for it, you know? And then this is your guys like Tyler.
Be a Dez from Wisconsin.
You can get in the second or the third round.
Can am, you know, stuff like that.
Lloyd Cushion Berry from L s U.
So there's definitely some guys that you could bring it here too.
And see, you know, maybe take a shot at center, Took a shot at second there and call it a day.
I don't see a lot of places really, like, Oh, we gotta get this is just gonna help, but like your corners, office aligned and death positions or stuff like that.
Now, I'll tell you what, but I think the cabin should have done because one I do believe that Barn Jones for the Dallas Cowboys isn't the right guy because to me he planted at Seattle's King.
That's not that's not bar jobs.
The Patriots is if the guy's off the stuff on Gilmore than McCord is.
What you playing man on, man, is me, you and let's go when they have left something.
Yes, you playing in the wrong spot in Seattle, they say, if they on one side the whole time, you know, and I'm not saying the Seattle scheming is bad, but we think about all the teams who often a Super Bowl.
Recently, he had been to Seattle Stina when weather that whether they blew a leave Ella August 23 whether whether whether it just it was just the Broncos and Peyton Manning or it was Ah, judo team that played up Sierra Ski Mile.
We'll see our win loss of injuries.
I mean, you make granite, see how Buddha himself.
Um, either way, burn, Joe, I think Burns aren't letting go was the right season.
Now what? I also think that publish that was if you're yes, yes.
You're not in the situation like Minnesota was when you have two guys, 181 be yet, But sometimes you have to take that risk.
And I know that Cooper was traded for a first round pick.
And I know, and I know that he can't be any given day, a top five.
But I also think he is a guy that has, uh, half floor.
I'm on a low floor high ceiling and with the Raiders, you saw how effective you saw how bad that really was.
Like you're gonna read it.
There was 100 state depend on Marco.
Now, hand my Crabtree, who, according to servicemen, yogurt, but is like, if if Cooper Daschle Look, the rate of office was not come into a team like that. Say it all the time.
Like with the warriors like Kevin Durant Curry play Thompson.
That's that's amazing.
But it's a current and Durant a wait and just left.
Playing by himself is not gonna be the same.
Empathy is not going to be felt the same way.
I think, I think.
And then when you rely on play the whole time, I don't think you get the job done.
That's how I feel.
Like with the Mark Cooper by himself.
He's not when you want, allowing him the whole time.
My he's no more God, he's our focal point.
You get little Stewie.
But when you bring it to the Cowboys, where he had his office while we don't really need you to be a plus now we need you with us for the night because evils revisions right there.
But I can use Gallop.
I could use jarring.
I got 21 behind my cord wear fine.
If you don't, you don't want to come and be five catches 180 yards.
You don't have to do that now.
When it when it happens, they think God.
Thank you, Jesus.
But like, if you have that five catches 44 yards, okay, because I know Gallagher might get fired for 70 or see my guinea 1 50 And I think that I think that to that point was like You might have been okay with that Cooper, because I don't like the five years, 100 million.
I think that's a lot for for for you and because his life being one readers the floor see those way out.
But we're being the cat was you shrink the floor little right.
But I think when you have these receivers like you could have got your Robbie Anderson.
Well, I think he went for, like, $10 million for two years.
Look, $10 for a year, two years, And then you could have used one of your draft picks into deepest draft.
Everybody talking about breakfast receiver draft is, I think, a Robbie Anderson.
And let's say, let's just say Denzel Nails from Baylin Stick around could have been good enough.
A gallon and gallop Ascension is on the rise with a run for a team anyway, you probably could have been okay.
Did you like Cooper walk away? He probably could have been, you know, that's the thing.
I think that's been the last 10 years like.
Okay, well, it's the Cowboys.
There's so much talent around them like, well, I'm sure they'll be okay even when they go with this route.
But at the end of the day, like I'm gonna keep going back to I really think it's just what is McCarthy and this new coaching staff need to win a championship in the next few years, but not just see here.
Is that through your window? What do you need to win right now? Right this second.
And then if it's not good enough, we'll ask this question again next year.
I think that was the honest answer.
Coming in like without a Mari.
We saw this offense and it wasn't that great.
And with the Mari, it is the world of a difference.
And, yes, the money was a lot.
But inflation Next man up.
It's just how this all works.
I don't want to hear a debate from anyone about someone that signed four years ago and why that person, who may be more talented than Amaury Cooper is making less money.
It's because he signed four years ago.
Dollars changed, inflation changes, time changes.
So at the end of the day.
I agree with you can.
I don't think he's worth that dollar amount.
Was Kurt Cousins worth that dollar amount? No, he was not not saying that.
He's not a talented quarterback that can lead you guys to a championship.
I loved this signing, but people didn't love the dollar amount.
I said, What do you what do you want to do? I mean, that's the next guy up like you expect.
Like you can't compare a contract from four years ago.
And they say, Is Kirk cousins better than this guy? No.
But if that guy was in the exact same free agency class right now and they both signed contracts on the same day Homeboy signs for 100 the other one signs for 1 20 You're saying that's where you could compare apples to oranges? Who's more talented? Who got this at the same time? Same amount of pressure on both these franchises.
Same C b A. Same everything.
So at the end of the day, I think like Lawrence just commented on my SportsCastr stream, you know, cold slices gonna pay her difference makers or the locker room has nothing to fight for on the field, and I think that's when the thing.
It's not like the Cowboys have another talent.
It's just I haven't had a guy that's made them want to fight for it on the field more than every other team in the league, because we got more talented than almost every other team in the league.
So having a Mari, there is the leadership.
It's well, I think he is.
Why Gallop was successful.
He is why Jack is more confident.
There's pressure op Sikh and he could go off any time.
So I agree with coleslaw here who comments, and I think you gotta pay him.
But at the end of the day, if you're thinking Gallop might be on his way out at the end of his rookie contract because of this move, are the Cowboys not thinking that, too? I think maybe they do go for Denzel names in the second.
Or maybe they do go for someone else like a Brandon.
Are you at the end of the second or the beginning of the third or ah, Homer from Penn State, like there's like you say, a huge, huge class, very talented wide receivers coming out of this draft, one of the best that we've ever seen.
Maybe even a Michael Pittman in, like, the third or the fourth and take that shot.
That's the same kind of upside as Michael Gallant Boys.
And that worked out.
So I think maybe now another fun thing is let's look for gallops replacement.
You know, let's enjoy the time that we have within visit still a few more years And, um, you're a couple more years and at the end of that, you know, we got the next guy and I think that that would be exciting to watch, I think.
But if that's going through your mind cap, which wasn't even going through minor Kev owes, I think that's probably going through the Cowboys front office.
And they're probably gonna look for replacement if not in the early rounds and maybe the fourth or the fifth and get a really good value pick because this receiving classes and saying so right and you know it all depends on how did how did how did this couch other coaches see Gallop versus how they see a Mark Cooper.
Now you trade the first round pick away.
So I understand the I understand the okay when can just lose it.
I get that I get right inside of hate.
But you see, we see we see examples like this where you know, you got this guy here.
Well, I'm gonna go right back to what Kevin said about the Celtics that just got here.
We're gonna pay Gordon Hayward all this money, but yet he comes in the brandy.
And although you can play together, that's fine, you know, because obviously is gonna make date that's going to see that would make everybody better.
But it's like, Okay, how it's been in our money If if the Celtics is a weakness is read on it, well, we stay and get the big man that we eat.
What we got these three young wings that can do it.
So we got three good receivers, but we have to go spin money.
Not a lot of money.
Play on Gerald McCoy, who's 32 passes.
Probably don't like the face of the line where you could have ballooned by kid mentioned earlier.
You could have you could have ballooned is this.
Go get Robbie Anderson and draft a receiver and balloon this disc lining you.
I mean, like, is always all about You know, where you put it in, how you look at it, but how they feel about galloping, how they feel about Cooper and Jones wants a phase guys.
He has a track record that he does do that.
So it is a lot of direction that you could've gone.
I'm just not the okay I'm not Sold or Mark Cooper, because the reason I said about by after, like the Cowboys or hiding are hiding his flaws.
As far as you know, he had those games where he does and those games where he belongs up.
He's always he's still that same receiving still that same guy.
But it's not gonna look as bad with open ran diversity.
It does with the cabins.
And and that's just that's just kudos to the coaching staff about.
Okay, What crew can't get off? You can't do this.
Don't worry about a week.
Did you see 25 cares gal could get 10 targets, and we're gonna and we're still going to school with Zama ports that cool it up, so it depends on a lot of that.
It that this idea? I thought it was.
Well, it probably had to come to a A bar versus Cooper.
Could have been to a Okay, this what if you got rid of both if we have the resource to do other things with Right? I hear you before we got here, eh? So what's next for the cowboys? I know we have this.
You have this fire virus going around, and we don't even know if football I'm gonna come back.
But with the draft coming up this year just temporary, I think you should get with 17 thing.
At least give not a player at the position that far.
Means you think.
And then what do you expect with my McCarthy? And what do you see? Yourselves? Just just next year, you gotta have too long.
But, you know, we are our sure say CJ Henderson's my picket 17.
If I have the choice right there, I think trading back isn't really, really fun.
Scenario for the Cowboys this year.
Acquiring some more picks, more talent in such a deep class and still going and getting your guy, You could still get a really great guy in the end of the first or even in the mid early twenties.
You know, just trade back through four picks.
You easily pick up 1/3 or fourth or something that could bring in another guy in here, so I would love to see him trade back.
But if it's at 17 seizure Anderson, some people call to reach some people say he's even potential to be a top 12 13 pick.
But at the end of the day, Olympic athleticism.
It's just so similar to Byron Jones.
It's really insane, and I haven't seen his I Q tests or anything like that and really isn't the biggest Tellem tell to me.
But to see the leader of your secondary who's smarter than everybody else more athletic than everybody else has a proven track record in college, you know, it's just I don't understand how you could pass that up, but get strategic move back.
I think if he's picked right before Kel Avon chasing if he's there, you know, from L s U You know, if you really want to make an identity and you're talking about it, Kev Oh, this deal, I just can't figure it out.
You bring in McCall, you bring in Po, you got all these guys.
You also go and draft.
A guy like Taliban chasing who's just an absolute beast has more confidence than I've seen from an edge rusher in any of the last five years.
He's called himself the M V p of this draft, like he just won a national championship like he was the leader of that defense.
Eso it besides Grant, help it so.
But at the end of the day, that would be really interesting to create an identity that's right there, one of the better defensive lines on paper in the league.
But like we keep mentioning that secondary is a big question mark, and I'd love to see them bring in two or three different corners and use their first round pick on 12 for the second part.
The question? I think I don't think it's Super Bowls necessarily, and the cards this year.
I'm not willing to rule it out yet, you know, brand new coaching staff from top to bottom.
It could just click and be perfect.
Could take some time.
We'll see what happens with this draft But if I think right now, it's a guarantee 11 wins, I think that's a really realistic number.
I think it 11 win season is where we're headed.
If it's 10 I'm still really excited about that.
If it's 12 I think that's even better, and that's really impressive.
We have the potential to do it.
They've done it with Dak.
But at the end of the day, right now, it's gonna depend on how the coaches stopped from top to bottom clicks right away.
If it takes a few games, if they come out firing right at the beginning.
And I think with this whole quarantine just gonna give teams more and more and more and more more time to gel game plan, get their **** straight.
So I think it's only gonna help the coaching staffs that are, you know, newly put together get them or chemistry.
But the same time you can't really duplicate the game, you know, and how that all unfold.
So at the same time, you know, just gotta wait and see.
I'm excited to draft is still staying.
It's gonna be weird.
The fact that it's remote, but yeah, I really want to show everyone for staying busy during this weird time.
And, you know, talking sports is the only thing that's gonna get us through it for all of us.
Kind of guys, So definitely, really excited.
To least have the draft have that content to still cover.
See how these teams are really starting to unfold after such a crazy free agency this year.
Thank God the C B A passed when it did with all this stuff going down, if we didn't get that weeklong, you know of signings, Plus still kind of going, you know, in smaller signings right now.
But we didn't get that.
We'd all be going absolutely nuts right now.
So I've come for that.
Blessed for that unless that we're all still here.
Thank you guys for bringing beyond a chat and talk about it, because that's the kind of stuff that keeps us all going right now.
Obviously, it's tough to get discouraged.
And when sports is such a big part of your life and it's removed, suddenly it's its shell. Shocking.
None of us have ever experienced it.
So definitely weird, But yeah, really excited that the NFL still putting out a lot of exciting news and rain.
Well, at least you know, mess around with theoretical ls and stuff and really, you know, put a lot of different ideas in the works and see if maybe throughout this time, we can get creative and have more and more fun kind of segments like this together. I'm super excited.
He brought me on the map that, um, draft want that chasing pick? If he's there at 17.
I don't get him like, period.
If not, you know, I really like McKinney from Alabama Safety.
I have wanted to safety for nothing again. Okay.
What? I want 50 for, like, four years.
And I love me, Kenny from Alabama.
Help it from L s U.
Something about that. Number seven.
Just like, you know, fire.
Um, you can't talk about this before, you know, help it.
A lot of his mistakes this past season were overshadowed by how great of a season the team had.
He did kind of Jack.
He did kind of, uh we're a little bit off a little bit from two years ago as opposed to last year, but that trade him back if they're both on the board here at 17 year, like Okay, well, you know, I don't think pop 17 out.
There's gonna be any offensive lineman that I gotta be worth drafting at 17.
Um, you know, the c e.
Henderson route? What if you trade back to, like, 24 you pick up a second, and then you're able to get one of these safeties and then go get the bigs right in the second round.
Um, now you've got to come.
So, honestly, that's second areas.
Well, I want more.
So safety, because Ha ha Clinton Dix is it seemed like, uh, defense changing.
Compensate how this Ira and Matthew are? Eric Berry is prime.
He's gonna use more.
He's gonna play in the box and, you know, help us stop the run.
I think that stopping the run is a big issue We had for two years.
Really? And we just went and got you know, D tackle is not opposed to clog up clothe and offensively, like selling any offensive line.
Men are really gonna be there. 17.
There's some good ones, but at 17 there will be any that before the 70.
So I like that trading back a lot if Chase is not there and if we can handle both, not there are. They're both.
They're trading back next year.
I could see us whenever from 9 to 11.
Um, I could see us that not 172 seasons.
I guess he's 11 5 I don't see McCarthy as that big of an upgrade from Jason Garrett.
And what I mean by that is you know, there are things that Garrett does well and there are things that hold him down. McCarthy.
It's the same thing.
It's just different things.
I think at the end of you don't know you yet, Kellen Moore right there, every single other person is different.
Every person in their early you know, when you bring a new head coach like, Oh, our all the other managers that have been in this restaurant for all the review is going to react to the new GM like **** no, it's like telling more you're like 18 years old.
You sit right there with your clipboard and the rest of us coming in here.
We're changing it, everything you know.
So I think that's where it could be a negative thing I have? No, I've never actually seen a coaching staff get flipped like they really, you know.
I don't think McCarthy's like the savior. He's not.
I wanted a guy like Urban Meyer some crazy, you know, Big person.
I wanted Parcells again.
I wanted Jimmy Johnson again.
So that's what I wanted, that kind of prestigious, prestigious nous.
But the end of the day, I'm just I'm excited to see how this works.
McCarthy not, you know, bringing it.
Everyone, just The change is exciting.
Honestly, it could have been.
It could have been Jeff Fisher. Anybody.
It's just it's a difference.
Like I said, Oh ee what it is they wanted Urban Meyer's.
Well, I don't want her med words for God knows how.
I wanted to run four years ago like, But anyways, I could see 99 to 11.
You know it all the you know, scheduling will determine whether we get 11 12 whether we get not 10.
Um, you know, we get, you know, we get, you know, destroyed with three road games in a row in there at blank, like a blank like it This time.
The problem Vikings.
You know, they're like that division definitely up for grabs.
But Philly is gonna be at full strength to they actually help you for nothing, anyways.
But they're all what your deal on is the one the one D line that them in the writings deal on is the one the line where I was like that you were the best.
Always on football, really? Sometimes do nothing with these guys.
So, um, I was really excited.
I'm glad to be talking sports with you guys, too.
And, like, I don't know, I if I wasn't working, I don't know what I would do in my life.
Not have anything to watch.
You're supposed to be March Madness must be going on the NBA playoffs.
Like a skin rider is supposed to be able to get to ramp up like that.
Your small Aunt Susan just started an NHL playoffs like you got the drive playing.
Ah, So I'm glad the draft is still happen to be a great concept to talk about his work, just like you said.
Um, And what do we got to talk about the dad contract? Like like, if you give him a contract or whatever, but I guess that would be another conversation for another.
Time has been an hour, but they paid him a lot.
Besides, they probably should, but I wouldn't give him more than $28 million.
I'll check his oil and see if he wants to go.
Gamble goes, I'm not saying 1 28 straight up.
I don't care that golf got Lincoln Scott, you know, for my hands because they made a mistake.
And that's not e u a bunch because they messed up.
But that goes, I officially got joining me.
And now what you gonna do? You take us out are turning up anyway.
Percent made good that someone was you guys the best.
Yeah, we'll talk later. All right.
