on the same day that Carolina released long time quarterback Cam Newton, they go and sign wide receiver Robbie Anderson.
So big name off the board.
And in terms of the wide receiver free agents, it's been interesting to see how this Ah, you know, kind of wide receiver spot will play itself out, considering how talented the NFL draft is and how much depth there is at the wide receiver position heading into April's draft.
So he goes for two years, $20 million.
12 million in the first year.
So all the House are going south.
Matt Rule, head coach, Carolina Former Temple out.
We got Robbie Anderson bringing home him, and then you also got P jaywalkers while XFL stand out.
So all right, obviously, I'm Eagles insider for Fox Sports.
So I'm gonna attack this from an eagle's perspective, and, you know, uh, discuss where they go from here because the fans in Philadelphia they want Robbie Anderson or push on Pyramid.
I would have done two years.
$20 million for Robbie.
Anders would have done it, but first shot Perriman.
He's somebody I'm more hesitant and wanting to obtain.
So Anderson's off the board.
Now it's Pyramid and another guys, I am just I kind of want to stay away from Pyramid.
He's somebody again, one year production under Bruce Arians, where he really didn't do anything before Bruce Arians is known to make.
Well, I can't curse on here, but basically turn something in the goal.
We'll just say that s so that's what he does with, you know, guys on the offensive side of the ball.
He turns in the Gulf.
That's what he does. So I just bleeped myself.
All right, um, Eagles, What do you do? I I want to say this from the jump.
I do think people are sleeping on to Sean Jackson a little bit.
I think people are almost forgetting about him.
I know he's past his thirties but tohave him for a year, you know, because people right now I'm feeling the freaking out that the vehicles haven't signed a fridge and wide receiver and and I'm a lot calmer about the situation because I understand what's going on with the NFL draft and how much talent there's gonna be available so I can hold off a little bit.
There's also a name I'm gonna throw you guys that I think the Eagles can pluck, uh, that I would be okay with and, you know, heading into the draft.
All right, so you have Jeffrey.
I I know he's been controversial here within the last six months because of the Josina Anderson report.
A lot of people think he's he's the quote unquote rat, so to speak.
Um, I've been saying all along I thought it was him.
But I've also been saying that, you know, in the heat of the moment, frustrations come out and, yes, you should have handled it a lot better.
But, you know, it's it's something where you learn from the situation.
You move on from the situation.
It's something that the team put past them honestly.
Awhile ago, it seemed like, but now it's starting to resurface again.
Like, is he going to leave Philadelphia this off season? You know, we shall see.
But if you bring him back, you have all Sean and you have to Sean.
And then if you attack the NFL draft and you think of that being your future wave at the position, I mean, you still have some veterans in front So that's kind of the way you have to look at this free agency, period.
You know, these Eagles fans freaking out that they're not signing anybody.
Um, I I'm looking at it from a completely different lens because I understand what the NFL draft looks like.
And again, what type of talents gonna be available? All right, that being said, there's also the rumor about Janek and Ga Quake potentially being traded to Philadelphia.
So if you traded the Philadelphia all that said, Oh, man, that's gonna be draft capital that you lose.
And Okay, Adrian, how you gonna obtain those wide receivers now, if you got it, you know, trade, draft capital, and you know, that's a valid point.
And I going back to the free and see real quick before we go to the draft is I forgot to mention that name.
So, um, look, he's 29.
So he's, you know, he's not in his mid twenties.
How we kind of likes to attack the guys that are coming off the rookie deals, But Taylor Gabriel, for a one year stopgap wouldn't be a terrible idea.
As you know, you try to build your receiving corps again with this NFL draft coming up coming up.
So you have this Sean Jackson.
You have all Sean. Jeffrey.
Obviously have the tight end as well.
You have model Sanders.
There's actually a little bit more than you might think, but because the injuries just complete Sa***e the football team and ra***ed the football team, you know, we kind of forget what Sean Jackson didn't want.
The report that was seemingly built with Carson Wentz.
And you know what he might potentially be able to do for the Eagles next season.
So you see, what does Sean likes to run, You know, obviously that not only the stuff that's deep but terms of the intermediate stuff, the out route in the in the deep in route those air balls Carson loves to rip.
And we saw in that first game against Washington the deep out that to a deep posts that he had for touchdowns and there were some deep outside.
He threw that, Shawn.
It was so effort on f effortless.
I should say, um, and you know, you're gonna be getting that back next season.
And then Jeffrey, we'll see what happens with him.
Then again, the tight end.
So what you want is speak on DS speed for the future and to build for the future with youth at tight at the wide receiver position.
So I threw the name out at you.
Now let's talk about the draft, because if you part with a first round pick for Janek and Ga Quay, uh, what are you gonna do It received.
So all right, here's what I'm gonna say.
So most likely eagles, they're picking at 21.
So most likely you're not gonna get one of those top three guys.
Whether it's Henry rugs, whether it's Jerry, Judy or whether it's seedy limp, you're not gonna get one of so a 21 you're looking at.
Justin Jefferson, Denzel Mims, whoever.
But the Eagles are gonna be.
Basically, if they take Justin Jefferson, they're basically gonna be the first team to take a wide receiver after the top three.
So point is this there at 21 they're kind of in a tough spot.
They're in a peculiar position because after the top three, there's really not much of a talent drop off.
And I remember how the draft was last year, where, like 12 wide receivers went between pick.
I forget what it was like pick 25 57 or something like that.
But there was 12 wide receiver drafted in that limited space.
Uh, and you know, there was this because the cluster wide receivers, they're all basically clustered together.
And it's kind of like how this draft is playing itself out because after the top three, yes, you have Justin Jefferson, but the Eagles, they really don't need a slot receiver.
They have tight ends.
Hey, they really don't need Thio make up this position.
They need outside.
Guys, They need speed on the outside And the guys who the Eagles, I think would be looking for guys were speed.
Guys like jail and rigor.
Guys like a J Hammer.
Guys like, um, Brennan, I you I don't think you would have to reach up to get him a 21.
You could potentially wait in the second round.
John Hightower, out of Boise State.
Could be somebody who's available in the middle rounds.
So this could be an NFL draft where you actually see three wide receivers birds.
It wouldn't surprise me, you know, take two earlier than take a flier late on somebody Um, Antonio Ghani Golden is somebody who I kind of like, but there's so there's so many guys there's and there's so many different crops of, you know, uh, different ice creams.
I guess I should say, because there's jump all guys, there's guys with speed.
There's guys route technicians there, a lot of different varieties of receiver in this draft, you know, middle rounds.
You can even look at Michael Pittman.
Are you have Ah, Devon Duvernay.
There's Van Jefferson.
Potentially, there are gonna be so many wide receivers available that the Eagles can potentially take.
And then you have the Sean Jackson playing in front of them all.
Sean, Jeffrey, you have the veteran leadership in front where you don't have to basically throw these guys into the fire.
You can ease these guys.
So, um, may if it were to take a first round pick to obtain Janek and Goku way, I would do it.
And then after you part ways with the first round pick, I would go.
Now I know you always attack, you know, best player available, usually in the draft.
That's kind of the way it goes.
But with the Eagles that there's such a need at receiver in terms of speed.
And here's what they wanted and still into the offense that this is where they need to attack and speed is where they need to go.
And to get that speed, you can get it in the second and third rounds.
You can get it later on the draft.
You don't have to get it in the first round, Henry.
Rugs ain't gonna be there.
I love to have him.
You're gonna be there.
So that's the round out.
The alternative option.
I'll give you an alternative option.
If Janek and Doc Wade does not come to Philadelphia, the Eagles do have a lot of draft cap.
They worked the compensation pick game last they worked, the compensation became so they could give themselves an opportunity to acquire big time player star players.
Guys we're gonna conduct.
But let's say they're not gonna choir.
There's a team at 13 by the name of San Francisco, San Francisco. 40 Niners.
They don't have a second round pick, third round pick or fourth round.
So to move up from 21 of 13 yes, any drugs is there and you don't get Janek and got away.
You don't want him.
That would be the move to make.
So not gonna get one of the top 3 21 You may be trade up to get one of them, but if you trade up to get one of them, you're not gonna get Janek and got so it's kind of a two edged sword.
You do you want Janek and you wait for the receivers? Or do you hold off on Janek and go really aggressive and try and trade for Henry Rocks? What do you do if you have a roast? What do you do? Well, I'm not the GM.
I'm just an armchair coordinator.
That's all I am, Major Infect you.
Fox Sports the gala.
You can check me out on the daily ticket hosted by show embrace its I heart radio.
You can check out the stream if you're not in Philadelphia.
So I want every every Monday and Friday at 5 p.m.
On the Eagles insider there so they could check me out.
Um, so there's that thoughts on today's free agency, I guess.
Day, it's slowing down a little bit.
Not as crazy as last week, but always got something to talk about.
Is your infect you out
