the following takes place between 8 a.m. and nine.
Good morning, everybody.
And welcome to F P C.
Radio live It is Monday, March 23rd 2020.
And I feel like we have not been on the air in about six years.
So it is exciting to be back.
And by the sound of the wind turbine that you're hearing I know Mike is still here on the air, so, you know, without further ado, I'm gonna bring in the man he is Mr Rhode Island.
You all know him as the king of the Northeast.
He's holding down the fort up there.
He's Mister Mike Debate.
Mike, how we doing today? Look, I'm doing very well, my friend.
Yes, the Rhode Island wind turbines.
Or what's powering this right now? Here in the ocean state, everybody knows that you're probably listening to us from home.
There are still a lot of people that are heading in every single day and you are blessed.
And we thank you.
If you're going in today, it means that you're providing in a central service to this country, and we could not appreciate that.
Morris, if you are working from home, please make sure to still be safe.
There's a lot that could still go wrong in this country, and we're going to need an effort all together.
But you're absolutely right.
It's been a little bit of a while.
Last week was a breakneck, busy week for us at f p C.
All over the sports world, especially in the NFL landscape with free agency, might start to die down a little bit now.
But it's it's just great to be back on the microphone here on a Monday and talking all that there is in the world, Really.
I mean, waken pretty much talk about anything we want.
That's that's right.
The What's that expression? The world is our oyster.
Is that the right one or might just making that up? I feel like, you know, sometimes I'm not so great with these expressions, and I kind of missed mix and match the words a little bit.
You know, I'm kind of like Ricky from Trailer Park boys. Not not quite.
Not quite, but sometimes a fumble awards.
That's the right expression, correct I believe so.
Yes. Cats are oyster.
No idea what it actually help.
Michael, we're there.
Yeah, There he is. All right.
We always joke about his $3 Internet, and No, no, we're serious.
He's He's still working on 56 k folks know where? Yeah, We missed a few days last week.
Obviously, free agency is starting to wind down.
It was kind of like you said a break neck. Ah, weekend.
Especially compared to what we're going through leading up to it.
So there's a lot of news we did get a chance to get on the air last week and talk about obviously the Brady announcement.
He's now a Tampa Bay buccaneer.
We're talking about that.
We're gonna talk about some more free agency stuff and then, you know, whatever whatever our heart desires and and really, I mean, there's not much in the sports world that we can focus on for for an hour every day this week, So they're certainly gonna be, um, other.
Uh, you know, other topics that we hit on.
Uh, but the good thing is, even without sports, even without sports it my go.
Yeah, Michael, Michael is Ah, he's He's struggling with the internet right now.
You're losing a little bit of a connection.
So bear with us here.
We're going to, um you know, he'll be back, You know, usually is, unless he decided to bail on me Finally.
So it wouldn't It wouldn't surprise me.
You know, maybe he's got sick of hearing my voice, and, uh, I don't blame him, but no, we enjoy having you guys here.
We're thankful that you guys were here and hopefully, you know, everyone staying safe and healthy and, ah, washing your hands, doing all that fun stuff.
And, you know, we're looking forward to being here each and every day this week, so Ah.
Yep. Mike's back. Mike's back.
Are you? Are you there, Mike? No, Maybe not.
Mike, we there? All right.
Apparently he's on location.
There you go. There ago. Mike is on location.
He is actually covering a tornado right now.
Yes, folks, he is.
Ah, He is trying to get a one on one interview with the tornado.
So that noise that you hear in the background is basically the relentless wind that's blowing back and forth and, uh, brushing up against his microphone.
So, Mike, stay safe, my friend.
I'm trying to stay safe, You know? You can't explain it.
You're can't predict.
That's ah, that's a bad Bill, Paxton.
And I apologize for that.
Hey, it's Monday morning Late Early world were all the late great pill Bill Paxton.
So but no, you're right.
You're right, though, Mike, you know you can't You can't fault us.
Um, we're not ordinary people.
That's who we are.
And that I i t is to mike a little Ah, you know Ah, brand new sound sound bite that we're gonna use quite often.
And ah, you know, I am actually considering changing our tagline for the show to To that Exactly.
And I think that would fit quite nicely because we always joke that we share half of the same brain, and, uh, it's pretty true.
And I think that quote by the late Great.
Um, sums us up pretty well, don't you think? Oh, I think so.
I couldn't I couldn't have done a better job.
I think that absolutely sums us up.
And yes, we are.
Amalgamated Association of Morons.
That is correct.
I just don't have it within reach, so I can't show it on camera.
Um, I apologize, folks.
I think I, uh, apparently apparently the camera I have some weird filter on.
So, you know, actually, this might be a good thing because it's it's it's it's fixing a lot of the issues I have, although I did just get out of the shower.
So my hair looks, uh, it's Let's just say I'm a very self conscious person, so any time I see myself on camera and I'm just not used to it yet, but we're gonna get through it, we're gonna power through it.
You know who is very photogenic.
You don't have an answer.
Who is photo? I was going to say Tom Brady, Tom Brady, Tom Brady.
That guy never takes a bad photo.
And look, I'm not ashamed to admit it.
You know the guy.
The guy takes a good photo, and I think we just lost Mike here, so we're going to have to Ah, just kind of power through this year and hopefully get him back on the air.
But obviously, the big news of the weekend over the week over free agency was Tom Brady officially signing with the New England Patriots.
And he will be, Ah, quarterbacking or I'm sorry, moving on from the New England Patriots, and he will be quarterbacking the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Ah, for the least the foreseeable future.
And of course, you know, that's not the only free agency move that we had going on.
And, uh, Mike, are you alive? You back? I am back.
I've tried Thio restart the absolute Hopefully, folks, it'll be a little bit easier.
And the connection will be a little bit.
But, you know, this fixes some of the some of the background noise that we got going on there.
Yeah, it does, actually.
No, actually, that sounds very good.
Now, Now, now you coming in nice and clear.
So? So you can't hide behind, you know, hide behind your bad points with a bunch of noise and stuff going on there.
But no, we're good.
We ah, again being off the air for a few days.
we've kind of gone back to the ah, the ancient system of not knowing what the hell we're doing.
So you're just gonna have to bear with us here, folks, as we as we power through here on Monday morning.
I mean, I think I'm a little I'm about one cup short of coffee right now, so I I got to pick that up.
I got to get my game going, But, uh, while Mike was taking his brief little break there, you know, doing probably doing some pushups, doing all that stuff, staying active.
I was talking about obviously Tom Brady being the big news of the weekend.
And but there's other news, and we're gonna focus on a lot of that.
One of the things I want O key in on is ah, you know, the NFC South in general, because it's shaping up to be quite a a ah, knock down, drag out fight in this division.
Ah, every team seems to be loading up.
I mean, I think the Thea, the big game changer, obviously was Brady heading to ah, Tampa Bay.
And of course, you already have the Saints and Drew Brees.
They added, Emmanuel Sanders this weekend.
Um, the Atlanta Falcons are adding every former first round pick ever to their offense to ah, you know, maybe make you know, come in third place in the vision.
All kidding aside, LaQuan trade will side with the Falcons.
That adds to yet another ah, talent on that offense.
And look between the three of those teams.
It's going to be quite the division race this year.
At least it's shaping up to be, Yeah, this is definitely gonna be a great great division this year.
You take a look at what the New Orleans Saints have been doing.
You look at what the Falcons have been doing and, of course, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers bringing in the biggest free agent fish in the pond.
I really love the moves, and I think that this is gonna be an exciting division tow watch, great for offense or without any question, these these guys are ready to play there.
They've heightened their alert.
I think I think they realize that Ah, lot of eyes are gonna be on this division this year and with a lot of do cause, so gonna be some exciting times down there, Falcons making some interesting moves.
I mean, you know, you bring back Todd Gurley after, Ah, you know, some very, uh, you know, questionable health issues, I guess, is probably the most delicate way for me to put that.
I think that there's a tremendous amount of upside if his talent is able to carry again.
But I think there's a lot of questions about his durability, and I think that eventually could come back to bite them a little bit.
So we'll see what happens with the Falcons.
But, you know, they're obviously gearing up to contend.
I don't think the moves that they're making in any way, shape or form tell them that they're not going to try to contend. Anyway.
I think they're trying to put together the best team they possibly can.
But to me, I think the race between the Buccaneers and the Saints is gonna be a very, very interesting one this year.
Saints look like they're severely loading up, and I really think that the Bucks have vaulted to one of the more safe bets in the NFC this year.
So great stuff coming down the horizon and a lot of interesting matchups that around that are on tap this year in that division, especially. Yeah.
And look, I mean, being being down here, obviously in Tampa.
And if if you follow me, you know that I've kind of taken on the Tampa beat here, being down here and being local.
And of course, having Tom Brady down here helps and ah, look, I mean, it's it's gonna be fun.
I mean, there's excitement, it's it's Ah, it's resonating around Thea social distancing That's going on here.
Well, the relative social distancing event.
If anyone's ever been paying attention, Florida has been at the forefront of the, uh, the moron Ah ah league, Because again, there's been a lot of videos of, you know, Look, I'm talking mostly these Ah, you know, spring breakers and younger kids that are just going out and, uh, kind of, you know, ignoring the whole concept of, you know, just kind of staying away for a little bit.
But, you know, it is what it is.
I've completely secured my house.
I don't plan on leaving for about two weeks and again, like I mentioned by the time this whole situation works itself out.
I plan on having ah, Jack Bauer like beard and hair.
So, um, you know, we can watch it develop over the course of the next few weeks on this program.
If you're watching on sports Captain SportsCastr live, which I highly recommend it, Unless you I don't want to be frightened this early in the morning.
Oh, enough for for no other reason.
I definitely recommend it just to watch the the development of the growth of Ian's Aaron Beard.
You know, it's it's it's must see TV.
But, you know, you gotta you gotta get that going.
No, like, is I mean, this is you know, I don't usually have the patients to Ah, to do this, but, you know Hey, look, I'm not trying to impress anyone.
I've gotten over the fact that, um I just I I don't really care what I look like on TV.
You're on on camera.
It's just kind of what it is.
I mean, you know, I'm not gonna change idea, whatever, so Ah, you know, mostly it should be fun.
And, you know, like I said it, the closer I can look to a Jack Bauer.
You know that that's good with me.
And we know what happened shortly after he shaved and cut his hair. That's right.
He he saved the world For what? The fifth time? At that 0.
I don't even know why I lose track.
You know, you saved it so many times.
Well, the original bearded Jack Bauer and the kind of like a mullet desk.
Jack Bauer was season two or not.
That was George Mason called him in.
Uh, he was, uh he was supposed to ah, stop Angeles on that day.
Uh, obviously, right after he caught his hair and did what he needed to D'oh.
Uh, he, uh he was he was ready to actually.
Was that before? Was that afterward? After he needed the axle, I thought I I think that was that was before because, you know, he obviously, if you remember, he was trying to ah, take, you know, kind of get back in contact with Kim.
You know, they had separated a little bit because of the the incidents that that, you know, ended or ended season one with with, uh, Teri Bauer.
Uh, unfortunate demise.
I'm sorry if you haven't watched 24 than you know.
You probably shouldn't be listening to the show.
So I'm assuming you've seen season 1 to 24.
But anyways, the unfortunate death of Teri Bauer split them up a little bit.
And Jack was pining for ah, his daughter's attention yet again.
And, ah, you know, of course, When when he goes into seclusion, it always involves growing a beard and something like that.
So no, they brought him in, He shaved.
And I think, you know, that brought the old Jack Bauer back, you know, instantly the old Yeah, that's right.
Well, they got the old hour because he immediately ended up using hacks.
I mean, this it was almost as good.
Who is almost as good.
And now now I'm blanking on this one again, but I believe it was Oh, jeez, probably season for ah.
Season had to be seasoned for when he shot the witness in, like, the 1st 10 minutes correct in my right.
Or is that season? It might have been season.
So you don't see now I'm confusing myself.
See, now I'm just gonna have to go back in the same season.
That was the guy with the hacksaw That was the right.
Okay, Yeah. Yeah.
Okay. Right, right, right. Okay.
You know, the the was obviously that's so this witness was someone that could damage someone connected with the possible nuclear threat.
But he was also a, uh he was also a *** offender and, ah, brutal one to a child.
And Jack just did not believe that this guy deserve to walk free.
So he got the information out of him, and then he promptly just picked up the gun and shot him, you know? But there was Well, there was a method to his madness because he wanted to prove to this crew that he was a member of it.
Do that. He had to bring his head.
He needed to dispose of this guy was just a terrible human being, and that's pretty much it.
And then we got the great line of Get me a hacksaw.
Oh, folks, See, that's that's That's the thing here.
You know, we're obviously gonna talk about sports, but obviously we're in a We're in a, um certainly a different era, a different time than a lot of us that used to.
There's a lot of, um, pining for entertainment.
Especially as we're Ah, of course, stuck in the house.
Or I hope you're all stuck in the house.
If you've been responsible, you're stuck in the house.
Ah, but you know, 24 is actually creeping up the list of things that I am going to watch.
So, Mike, I got I got to ask you what? What have you been, uh, you know, consuming your time with in this.
Ah, this time of need and quarantining.
Uh, so let's see.
Ah, lot of draft film. Yeah.
Really? Yeah, No days off.
A lot of absolutely no days off.
A lot of draft film, a lot of free agency profiling.
So, yeah, mostly mostly football related.
But you know, gradually, as free agency starts to wane and unfortunately, as it starts to look in the direction that we're pretty much all going to be, I think, you know, confined or is confined as we possibly can over the next couple of weeks.
24 definitely at the top of of the list.
Gonna be doing a lot of Three Stooges bingeing, my friend.
I gotta be honest with the you know that definitely helps Thio, you know, lighten the load.
I think a little bit for people, you know.
Do you know that? Find activities, folks.
That's gonna make you laugh.
It's gonna make you happy.
It's gonna help keep your spirits high.
It's tough, Suddenly become a slick. Him stands.
But in any case, it really does help to, ah, do that.
It's not an easy time.
Some of us air, you know, kept from loved ones.
Some of us are kept from, you know, plans and things that they've been looking forward to for a long time.
It's hard, it's it's hard for for all of us, you know, right now I mean, there's no question about it.
Our body is not exactly where our heart wants to be or where God wants to be a times, but ultimately it's something that we have to do for the good of each other.
And hopefully we emerge a lot stronger than a lot smarter.
But yeah, I think you know the absolute 24 is definitely the ultimate binge Watch.
If you have the ability to watch this show and rediscover it, I highly recommend it.
It's continual watching.
It's something that really just, I think, captures the attention.
I still remember the feeling and we've talked about this several times, buddy on the on the air, how this just captured your attention and you could not wait for the next week.
It was just you were literally hanging on every minute.
Ah, lot of shows have followed that lead, and I think some have done it very well.
Some not so belle.
But to meet when we only met originators was this and to me, I think it still holds up.
You know, there are a few people that I've talked Thio think that the show doesn't hold up any longer and that it's no longer relevant.
You know, you get everybody running around talking on flip flown so freakin want cares what kind of a moment, you know, really.
I mean, the concept is the same.
And I think that's such a testament to the writing to guys like Joel Surnow, who, you know, really created the show.
And, you know, guys like Evan Katz and you know, people that were so you know, this writing team that they put together was really, really great and you went on a lot of these guys went on to write for shows like The Wire and the Outsider and Homeland and some of the great shows that followed this.
It's no secret that this is where they got their start.
Well, and that's the thing to an especially nowadays.
And look, I mean, I I can't like I don't I think of originality is sort of lost in this day and age.
I mean, I Seymour attempts at rebooting things, and I hate reboots, if any. You know, if if any.
If we ever got in their conversation like this on this program and I can't remember, we probably have.
I can't remember.
Sometimes it's off air.
Sometimes it's on, but I hate for the most part reboots.
I have a very like if I see something Oh, it's this is coming back.
I I automatically already have the negative slant towards it and for good cause because a lot of it is, You know, it's kind of a cheap nostalgia.
Grabow are cheap, you know, that type of thing and and you're kind of missing out on that originality and ensure there's a lot of shows out there with a lot of originality.
I happen to be a pretty big fan of Westworld.
I have to catch up on the new first to see episodes of the season because I reached recently binge through the 1st 2 seasons.
That kind of catch up in kind of refresh my memory as to what the hell was going on.
I still have no idea what the hell's going on in that show.
But, uh, it's still very entertaining.
And, um, you know, of course, something that I like.
But, you know, 24 if you go back and think about, uh, not on Lee the, uh, the the the Four Men, how they just basically shot and wrote that Siri's from episode to episode.
But the fact that they were turning out 24 like literally 24 hour long episodes um, with so many twists and turns like I can't imagine, like, I mean, going back to ah, the first few scenes and I remember this was this was my routine.
And this this is how long ago was debut, November 2001.
If we all remember well, we probably don't because I think a lot of our audience may be a little bit younger in their early twenties, and we're probably unaware of the show when it first came out.
But, um, you know, when it debuted, it was, you know, my my routine was being a buddy of mine where I was in high school and we would go over.
We were drink doctor Pepper and watched 24.
That was that was the thing that, you know, this is, you know, before drinking and any other you know, extracurricular activities that may or may not have happened.
I'm not saying that they did.
I'm just saying that, you know, some people made of, but yeah, this was long before that.
So we are Drug of addiction.
Was was caffeine and sugar.
So, Dr Pepper, of course, was was the natural selection because it's just a great it's a great drink.
So, Dr Pepper, 24 every, um, Tuesday night at the time it debuted on Tuesday, it eventually shifted to Monday.
If I remember, did I flip flop that? I know it, but I think it debuted.
I think you're right.
I think it debuted on a Tuesday, and I think it's shifted to Monday night.
Um, and I think it was.
I think they wanted to see what type of audience they were going to get in them once they realized that.
Then it became a Monday night powerhouse.
And then you really you planned your Monday night around? Oh, no, that it really was that I didn't.
I watched from in, and I've told us before the reason I part of the reason I watched it was because I got you know, I look, you know, Big Kiefer Sutherland fan. For one.
I knew the guy's name was Jack Bauer, and I had Bauer hockey equipment or some Bauer hockey equipment.
So, you know, that's that's a kind of insight into how my mind works.
Um, but that that's that's why I decided to to wash it.
Yeah, that's right.
Well, you know, well, I want because my birthday is on the 24 see their again, their homes.
Sudden, You're like, 24 There we go. There's my number.
I'm watching that show.
I don't care what it's all about.
And again, I was a fan of Kiefer Sutherland as well, and it does it just it hooks you.
I remember those first Few episodes of the show when it first came out, were just It was such a point in television and it was just It was like nothing else you saw on TV at the time.
And I think that's why it was so indelible to me why I got so hooked on it.
And you develop a relationship with these characters and you want to see what happens and how it evolves.
And each week it just left you right on the edge of your seat.
Well, I think eventually to what happened.
One of the reasons why they shifted nights, too, was, Ah, it and this was this was the great part about then because, you know, this is long before Netflix and binge watching and all that.
I mean, the idea of ever having that type of access to television shows online was just, ah, completely foreign concept.
I would have never imagined it at the time, I was still recording these episodes on VHS.
You know, I never miss an episode like literally, I watched every episode, the entire run of the series.
The day came out, it's It's sadly, one of the most impressive things I've ever done in my lifetime.
But, you know Hey, it is what it is.
Anyways, you know, this was long before getting shows on demand or on who, Lou, Our Netflix.
I mean again that we're talking 1 4002 you know, the internet was was obviously existed.
But, you know, it just wasn't close to what it was today.
But, um, it also ran concurrently with another great show in another favorite show of mine Lost.
So you had one night was lost.
One night was 24 eventually Ah, that that went for the final few seasons Because they, if you remember, ended one night after one another.
See Siri's finale He's both ended to day was it was the most devastating.
Ah, two days in May of 2010 I believe, and it was Ah, it was definitely something in anticipation that brought a lot of sadness to me.
But at the same time, it was a good time for both shows to end.
And, you know, now we can look back and go back and watch him endlessly, and that's that's what I d'oh! And I'd like to pretend and say that it's because that were quarantined in here.
But really, this whole quarantine has not changed my daily life whatsoever.
In fact, it's actually encouraged me to do some of the things that I have been doing, which is stay inside and avoid people and just watch a lot of TV and work, and that's that's essentially what I'm doing.
I just don't know go out as often anymore.
You know, I think that's a common tale.
I think it really is.
You know, if you people are being really honest about it, I mean, I know there are a lot of, you know, social people out there and I get it.
I do, and for some it is tough.
It is really, really hard to make that adjustment, and I can relate to that with me.
Yeah, I mean, it's what I think, what the nature of what we do.
We spend a lot of time, you know, recording.
You know, either podcaster shows from home and writing from home and covering things.
Obviously the big you know, adjustment is not being able to get in the car to go to the stadium, recover an event or doing something of that nature.
That is an adjustment.
And right now, you know it's the off season.
So it's not really that much of a big deal.
I think when oh, ta, time starts.
And when the draft starts and things of that nature, I think it'll probably come a little bit more real than it has been.
Up until this point, however, you know it, it hasn't affected us all that much.
And, yeah, I am actually looking forward to getting to the point where NFL free agency can die down just enough for me to be able to Ah, you know, start, you know, maybe binge watching some of these Siri's rediscovering these things because it really is.
I think it's a good time to, uh, you don't have the ability to, you know, have people around.
You are connected with, you know, with people in that way or your family, your Children, whoever, Um, it's a good way to kind of bring back nostalgia, kind of make you feel a little bit better about what's going on because I know there's a lot of things.
There are a lot of people that are dealing with anxiety with Mrs Well, especially people that are alone.
You know, you look at that thes reports every single day, and you know, the news tries to get better.
But ultimately see the handwriting on the wall that, you know, more cases were developing.
And, you know, more people unfortunately are being afflicted and more deaths are being reported.
That's never easy news to take.
I don't care who you are, and in a situation like that, you need to try.
It's not easy to do it, but you need to try to divert your attention from it a little bit for your own sanity.
And so that way you don't become riddled with anxiety because that's something that could be a problem.
You know, for people to It's not on Lee, just the Corona threat that weren't fighting right now it's trying to keep everybody healthy and always, and mental is a big part of that.
So, you know, diversion is key, and it's important.
So, uh, if you can listen to, um, Thio, you know, if you can listen to us FBC RADIO Live 8 to 9 every morning on Do you think it is safe.
And you say, Thank God I'm not those morons than you know.
I think at least maybe we're doing our part for humanity.
But that's the way I like to look at it.
Yeah, in Look, of course, you know, we we obviously always want Thio try to keep ah, positive attitude.
And that's kind of the philosophy that I've always kind of lived by.
I mean, it's never been easy.
It's never always been easy for myself.
But I'm sure there's obviously been times of struggle for my buddy Mike here.
And frankly, I say, I just stopped crying from Tom Brady's heart just about three minutes before we went on the air.
That's that's pretty much it.
I've been a glittering mess for the last week or so, buddy.
Yeah, I'm not I'm not gonna lie.
I have I have a very ah, I have a big fear that this is something that is just doing ah, in my in the back of my mind because I've actually been relatively okay.
And I think I've I've, um you know, again, part of the reason is, too.
And I've I've talked to you about this and we talked about this actually, on the first episode with full press Buck's buck podcast.
Check it out on the full press cover.
Jap available now on Android and Apple devices.
Um, no, we and I talked about this.
I said, Look, I mean, if if if he was gonna go anywhere, I'm kind of, you know, excited to see him down here because I do live down here.
And I do kind of closely, you know, now, more so than ever.
But, you know, in the past have closely followed the bucks and never really had any, you know, ill will towards them, like, you know, it.
Rivals of the Patriots.
So, Lisa, who big yawn there they were going to say, I told you I needed we needed two more coffee, but it's good. Keep the coffee flow.
Yeah, I need I need an assistant.
I need an intern.
Is that that's what I need, but, uh, Sharon Yes, Darrin frame Erica.
Yeah, There we go.
Darrin from Cree America.
Let's see if he's still available.
So it I lost my train of thought.
It all comes back.
It really it It does.
It is the teaching and the answer to all your questions. Yeah.
So, like, you know, we try to keep things positive here and everything like that.
So you know, people out there, obviously, we want to stay healthy, stay focused and really like Mike said, focus on your mental health and and and anxiety.
I mean, it can be in a very and anxiety inducing situation.
And look, I I poke fun of the fact that I do stay home a lot anyways and work a lot, and I I kind of had this lifestyle for some time, you know? You know, it's part of the job.
It's part of what I do.
Um, but at the same time, when? When? When you do that.
But you still have the freedom of being able to just go out and do whatever you want, like you would in any normal situation.
It's a little bit different because, you know, I'm a sit here and say, Hey, you know what I need to get out of the house.
But then I sit here and say at the same time, I'm like, you know, What now I'll stay home because, you know, again abundance of caution and everything like that and that that's what that's what we want everyone to do and and you know it is.
You know, we were gonna make light of the situation and hopes toe, you know, give people a little bit is something to laugh at, or, you know, whether it's our jokes or just us in general, I mean that that doesn't matter to me.
You could be laughing with us or at us as long as you're laughing.
That that, you know, makes me happy.
And it makes my, uh, my buddy across the mike here happy.
And then that's really what we're going to try to do, because again, this is, you know, this is a different situation than a lot of us have dealt with, and some people are greatly more affected than others.
And I sympathize with that.
And of course, you know that all the people out there that are still having to to, you know, face work head on and deal with all this stuff without a break, it's it's, you know, Hat's off to you guys and keep doing what you do, because again, where you know you're you're keeping us going.
And that's something that, you know, I I'm forever grateful for and hopefully what we do here is something that can kind of distract you from it.
So if you're listening, we hope that you're enjoying the show.
And, um, you know, at the very least, you could at least laugh at our stupidity and our idiocy and hopefully over the course of the next few weeks, we can Ah, we can hopefully ah, you know, ease people's anxiety.
And you know what? Give him some toe listen to enjoy.
So absolutely, without any question.
And we look forward to continuing to do that if you could make us a part of your day, we're honored by that, and and I you know, I know it probably sounds a little flowery, but we do mean it in something where we're all in this together, folks.
And we're all trying to get through these next few days.
Weeks, Hopefully not monk, you know, I mean, we don't know.
We're just we're uncertain with that right now.
And if we can do even a small part in helping to get you through that, then you know, we're happy to ah, to be able to do it.
And like I said, at the very least, you can tune in and just say, Thank God I'm not those two guys and it'll make you feel better about yourself.
So in any case, we'll be able to do it.
But not all of it.
In all Ah, seriousness.
I did want to get back to ah, the F B C Bucks pod for quartered over the weekend because, uh, you know, my fine colleague and best good friend right over here was kind enough to welcome me to the chair for his inaugural episode.
Very similar to ah, how I welcomed him as my first guest.
That's right, locked on patriots.
And, uh, you know, one hand washes the other and no, seriously, it really was.
It was It was my honor.
And I do mean that to be his first guest, and you're going to do an amazing job covering this team.
The Tampa Bay beat is lucky to have you aboard, my friend, and I truly do mean that.
But we had a great discussion and we talked about Tom Brady and logistically what type of fit, what type of quarterback he's going to make in Tampa.
And I think that there's a lot of argument to be made that he may be in line for one of his more productive seasons in recent memory.
And that's saying a lot, considering that safer last year, which, statistically, and I caution people, statistically was not one of his more prolific years.
I still think Tom had a very good season last year, considering what he was dealing with the weapons, so to speak.
And I really hate that term, and I keep using it because your weapon.
So I got you with the Z, the weapons, its weapons season as a the n.
A lot of the the social media yahoos like to refer to these things as.
But ultimately I think what Tom has to work with this year is really going to make it interesting.
You mentioned Tampa Bay and you mentioned all of the the the being able to see him and have him down in Tampa.
It will be a happening down there.
I would like to see Tampa add maybe another piece or two on the offensive line.
I think if maybe the decision were made a little bit quicker.
I heard a lot of rumblings over the weekend.
The Tampa was really sorry that they were that they missed out on Teddy caress, and I think that could have been in very interesting fit.
Even though Tampa does have solidarity on the front line to bring someone in that nose, Tom's tendencies, I think especially on the old line, would have been huge.
That would have been a very big addition for them.
So keep that for what you will.
I mean, I don't you know, I have none.
Nobody's going on record and putting their, you know, paper to pen when it comes to that.
But I did talk to a few people that were close to the team and said that they heard rumblings out of Tampa that they would have loved to have been able to at a guy like caress on that that line, so you know, say could keep that for what you will.
I think that will be where Tampa is looking now.
But in all actuality, I mean, we talked about we open the show on this with the additions that the Saints and that the Falcons air making that division's gearing up.
You can see that even a guy like like Emmanuel Sanders leaving now San Francisco? Does that make their offensive prowess? May be a little bit less prolific now without that slap threat and that that speedy threat that Jimmy Garoppolo would would liketo have.
Does this mean that now San Francisco moving up in the draft? Does that mean that they're targeting a younger wide receiver to continue that type of tradition in nuns in San Francisco, Green Bay is quietly having a pretty good offseason, making some additions on defense and, ah, the power positions on offense to try to make them a little bit more prolific than they were last year.
So the NFC is definitely That was a hot conference last year.
You can imagine it's gonna be even more hotly contested this year.
Balance power definitely swung to the pendulum in a big way toward the NFC.
I think it was already there, beat him last year, but I think this year the NFC is gonna be really fun to watch a lot of teams that can compete for a super bowl spot there.
Yeah, and let's not forget Yes, stop their steak.
Gave a big contract to one Jimmy Graham.
And I say that, um, with all, actually, no.
With all due disrespect, actually, because I think that's a kind of ah, laughable move.
Because again, I I think we all know what Jimmy Graham is.
And he's certainly not worth that type of money, in my opinion.
But, you know, Hey, the Bears are gonna bear, and you know, that's that's it is we'll know what I mean.
And I agree with that, and I didn't understand it.
I didn't like the fit When people appear in the wind one.
We're talking about Jimmy Graham being released and wait.
It's like it's the It's the hey, I know that name, you know, we see it on Twitter and people that we follow kind of fun and and they would.
I heard somebody idiotically make the comparison and said, We'll choose The grand was Travis Kelsey before he was Travis Kelsey.
Look, Ian and I have taken our opportunities to take some shots of Kelsey.
There is no much parity between the two.
Kelsey is light years above where Jimmy Graham was and will always be s o for all the little William digs.
We like to give Chiefs fans and is blocking ability.
Yeah, I still would take Rob Gronkowski any day of the week and twice on Sunday.
But you're talking about a guy that has the potential to, ah, content free continues to put up the numbers he's putting up, and he does this over a sustained period of time.
You're probably talking about a Hall of Fame caliber player, and we're not talking about that in Jimmy Graham.
So, um, you know that to me is really, I think, a disservice.
I was surprised.
Yes, Yes, Jackie Child's Absolutely.
It was egregious.
It was a rough, outrageous, Preposterous.
Yes, I think there's no question about it.
I love That was That was a great dropped a guard.
A little caught me on that wasn't expected.
Don't give me unprepared.
Oh, now we're switching gears. Nazi.
Yeah, so, I mean, if somebody broke in their sound board over the week, Stella has been working diligently on that.
Mr Levinson? Yes, don't.
We were unprepared, but, uh, we will be the next time.
I promise you this happens and you'll have full access to Area 51.
No, I think there's really, really is, ah, lot of things to be watching in the NFC this year, really all over the NFL, and you just hope that, you know there won't be too much of a delay.
Folks, I hate to, you know, be the bearer of bad news, but it's almost inevitable that you know the off season workout programs and what not will be delayed, which might need a delay to the start of the season.
I don't know yet.
That's still very much up in the air.
I don't want to start rumors here, but there are rumblings that, you know that could that could cut into the preseason and practice time and things of that nature.
So, you know, we're keeping an eye on it.
But at least for a week last week, the NFL gave us some sports drama to talk about players switching teams, different things going on, and, uh, you know, was it made for a really busy week for us, buddy? But for the casual fan, I'm sure it was great to have some sports stuff floating around their social media feeds.
And it really was kind of a great great kind of break from what was becoming a norm.
And And look, I think people are starting to, you know, make the most out of this situation.
And again, whether it annoys you or not, I mean this, you know, one of the worst things I think that's coming out of all this is Is this tic tac crazy? I mean, you know this.
This is maybe in, you know, old man yelling at a cloud.
But I just I don't get it.
I mean, I I just don't I I just I don't understand it Doesn't you know, it just doesn't It doesn't compute with me.
It compute with me.
It just added on me again.
Maybe it's just passed, passed me by.
It's just it's ah, it's just who I am.
I just don't understand it, whatever.
But you know, again, it's it's what you make of this situation.
It's how you, ah, use the time that you have like and and and that's the most important thing is like, How do you How do you make the most of this extra time and for those folks that are now stuck at home that that aren't normal, normally stuck in home.
Now you're using it to to do certain things, to explore certain things to catch up on those TV shows.
I mean, I mean, how often have we sat here and said, Man, I have a lot.
I have a huge list of shows that I haven't, you know, I don't even have the time to watch.
Now I'm like, thinking like, Well, well, well, **** now I do have the time to do it and I don't You know, I don't I don't have to sit here and justify, And that's the biggest difference is like for me is like, you know, like I said, I I work from home normally.
So you know, this isn't too ah dissimilar from what I'm used to, However, ah, there's always that that, um, in the back of my mind, when I choose to sit there and be lazy versus going to the gym or going out doing errands, I always like I can never really quite enjoy fully what I'm doing now.
I have no shame.
I will sit there and I'll watch an entire show the entire day.
Um, you know, I You know, I may like, you know, again what? Step outside once and not feel bad about it.
And it's kind of, you know, it's kind of nice to to have that pressure taking off.
You know, the important thing is not not to get too comfortable with that, because once once things do settle down and once we do get back to normal, and I do believe that will, huh? See, we're talking about how Excuse me. Sorry, folks.
Very unprofessional of me.
Um, you know, we were talking about how, you know, awake.
I was, you know, before we got on the show and now it's already starting to hit me pretty quickly as we as we gear towards the last 10 minutes or so this program.
But yeah, it's about what you make of it.
It's about how you, you know, maybe do a little self improvement self evaluation, do some cleaning, do some work that you've been putting off, you know, do some journaling.
What? Whatever helps you get through this situation and hopefully there's some habits that you can take with you moving forward and and look.
I mean, one of the things is, you know, maybe cleanliness.
Maybe more people, you know, take cleanliness a little bit more seriously.
You know, I've always kind of been a little bit more of Ah, you know, I'm not a germophobe.
I any stretch of the imagination.
But if I was, you know, if you were gonna put me in a category of one germophobe or or the exact opposite, I'd lean far more towards a germophobe because I'd much rather be clean and not have to deal with a bunch of junk.
So I think hopefully, you know, people in general will, you know, use that.
And, you know, maybe people start washing their hands regularly.
Maybe maybe you won't have to put up a sign in the bathroom saying that employees must wash hands.
That should just happen.
Like I mean, like, that's That's always something. I always laughs.
It's like what did you have to remind people to wash their hands after they go to the bathroom? Like, really, Do we have to do that? But yeah, I think that was I thought Social Media post the other day about there was a Michael might go way.
We're going good there for a while.
It looks like by the looks of my screen here.
It says he has a poor Internet connection.
He will be back soon, I'm sure.
Ah, just little hiccup in the in the connection here.
I believe they are getting some snow up there in the Northeast.
It's sunny down here in Florida, and it's nice and warm.
What? What Mike and I are really trying to say is like, we're gonna try to provide some sort of entertainment, and if you know whatever you need to do to to get through this, whether it's, ah, you know, Ah, meditation, yoga, exercise.
Finding something to stay active.
I encourage you to do so explore different things.
I mean, if you ever wanted to read a book, read a book, you know, find something that you've been putting off for quite some time and really explore your interest and figure out what you know, what you can do to basically, you know, make up for the time you're lost at work or doing normal things like going out and doing your regular shopping and stuff like that and basically focus on how you can Ah, you know, self improve And you know it build good habits for the future because eventually were everything's gonna be back to normal.
And we're gonna be back doing what we have to d'oh! And, uh, you know, again, when it comes down to being able to, let's say, you know, learn from from the experiences that we've gone through during this time, like you know, you can come out of it with some better habits.
Maybe it is ah, you know, now taking, you know, time, maybe an hour a day for yourself at home, you know, as opposed to just go, go, go.
And you know, people say all the time like, Look, you, you can't go all out all the time.
You do need time for self reflection.
You do need time for self improvement, and I think you know this.
This may help build some good habits, so I always try to keep a a positive mental attitude.
Um, and this is no different.
I think it's you have a choice.
You can either look at things negatively or positively.
There there's there's it's it's pretty simple.
It's pretty black and white.
You, that's you. That's your choice.
So why not just think it thinks positively and try to find what works for you or what gets you there? So, Mike, welcome back, my friend.
I know we watched you there, so yeah, I don't know the other.
There's rumors going around up here in Rhode Island about things being gradually closed and shut down.
I hope they're not shutting down my $3 Internet.
That's that's really, uh I need this $3 connection.
All actuality, folks, I do apologize for some of the connectivity issues this morning.
I promise you help.
Reliable help is on the way.
And this will no longer be an issue for my good buddy here, who has really carried this show today.
And I want to thank him for being the pro that he is and helping us through this today.
My friend must wait until we get the ratings back before you give me all the credit.
Because if they aren't good, I I don't know.
I don't want to be the sole credit to that.
So Well, no, just blame it on me in the dollar.
Just say that Mike Center.
That was better.
We would have had better ratings. That's that's the way to do it.
No, but look, we're gonna have some fun.
You know, obviously we're there's not sports every day to talk about.
You know, at this point in the year we're getting, you know, we'd be in the middle of the tournament, would be getting ready for Oh, excuse me, Both the NHL and N B A playoffs.
But, you know, right now, it's not gonna happen.
And, you know, the hope is that eventually those two tournaments nothing NC, double A.
But the NHL in MBA will eventually take place at some point this year.
It's really you just don't know.
Um, you know, And I think the most important thing is is, you know, in this world of just rampant ah, information both good and bad, the most important thing is listen to the doctors.
Listen to the people that have medical background, don't listen to, um, you know, folks like us, our politicians are, you know, guys like that that, you know, or women and men that that really don't have a background in this inner, basically basing it off.
You know, whatever report suits their narrative, listen to the doctors listen to what they recommend.
The steps to curb curve This spread is very simple.
Um, anything else you hear is just, you know, again, it's it's it's not worth listening to listen to the folks that know what they're talking about.
I'm talking about the doctors, the nurses, the ones that are urging everyone to, you know, just keep away, you know, keep away used this time.
Ah, don't go to parties.
Don't go out to restaurants, keep away from bars.
Let me just stay home.
And in a few weeks, things will start to settle down and hopefully again.
The quicker we do that, the quicker we get back to normal.
And, um, you know, again, that's that's something we're certainly looking forward to is eventually getting back to normal.
So, um, we've had some, uh I think we lost Mike yet again, but it's it's okay.
We're we're gonna wrap up the show here today because again, this is this was a welcome back to the program sort of day.
We were looking forward to being back here each and every Monday through Friday for the foreseeable future, we're gonna try to provide the best possible show that we can And Ah, look, I mean, we're gonna have some fun with it and try to find whatever it is we're talking about.
