Welcome to the Laker Central Lifestream.
I'm your host, Alex man.
We're coming off of a fabulous we again of victories over the Bucks and Clippers.
But before I get into that, let me send a shout out to the edge.
The Edge Sports Network recently partnered with those guys on bringing you Maur Lakers related content.
So if you're on Twitter, follow the Edge Sports Network at the Edge s n and check out the website Edge sports network dot com.
Those guys are really great and I have a number of other partnerships that I'll be announcing.
Ah, really, really soon.
So Laker Center was growing so shot out.
Everybody that watches these live streams that subscribes and listens to the podcast follows me on social media.
It has been a fun ride.
Now building this thing up and I'm gonna continue to bring you guys great content.
But what a victory over the Clippers.
Everybody was concerned.
Could the Lakers beat the Bucks and Clippers and they happen to do so? Ah, back to back games. Essentially.
Ah, believe no team has beaten ah, one of the top four teams an MBA back to back since the Lakers did so on 09 They beat the Celtics and Cavaliers.
And so, hey, I'm excited.
I'm sure you guys were. Lakers fans are excited.
And about that Clippers game.
That was a tough game.
There was nothing easy about that.
Um, it was close throughout until the fourth quarter, and the Lakers were able to pull away a little bit.
Um, Lakers won the first quarter, Clippers won the second.
Lakers won the third and then the Lakers won the fourth.
And look, LeBron LeBron came out.
Garden Kawai from the jump from Jump Street.
I mean, 28 LeBron a 28 points, seven rebounds, nine assists.
Anthony Davis was great as well.
30 points. Eight rebounds.
My goodness, Avery Bradley had 24 points.
He knocked down 63 pointers.
I mean, that's that's tremendous.
You got to get that production from what their guy and this Lakers team with phenomenal.
I got a shot out Mark Morris, because Markeith he really allows the Lakers to slot guys in their proper position.
So, you know, pride of Marquis becoming a Laker.
Koosman played a lot of backup power forward and he can play the backup for, but that's not his rule.
He's better suited, I think, played the three, even though he can.
He can certainly play to four.
But I think in this game against the Clippers, well, when Anthony Davis led to the five and Mark IV complete the four who's completed three.
You can have a Brian out there also when Danny Green or Avery Bradley.
Or you can have LeBron at the three.
And you can have in KCP with Avery Bradley, Rondo or or whatever your combination you want.
What I'm basically talking about is against teams like the Clippers.
The Lakers need to run anti Davis more at the five, and Cooze is not a great option to play the four in that lineup.
So Markeith is tough.
Ah, he knocks down big shots.
He's in the right place.
He's really, really good.
And while I'm talking to you guys, I'm going to see if I can find, um, this tweet that I that I tweeted the other day because Markeith really put up some really nice um, Advanced ****ytics for you guys were into that kind of stuff, so I'm gonna see if I can find it.
Um, I've got so many tweets, it's crazy.
But for the Lakers to beat the Bucks and the Clippers the way that they did, it's simply sent a message and LeBron in the second half of the Bucks game. Guard it, Johannes.
He guarded Kawai the whole entire game, the Clippers game, and he outplayed both of them.
I'll play both of them in year 17 so LeBron clearly clearly still has it for people that think that Johannes has passed him or Kawai or anybody else. An M B A.
LeBron still has it.
And for me, you know, normally, when the Lakers played teams like Ah, the Pelicans was I on or the Mavericks with Luca, LeBron has asserted himself and basically showed those young guys.
It's still his n b a Ah, and so I was looking to see he would do the exact same thing against you know, some guys that are his peers and Guan Johannes.
And he did exactly that this weekend.
I mean, there was nothing they could do with them.
The Lakers really did control this game, and, you know, there were some times when it was tough, he got tight and I figured, Okay, let's see if the Clippers could make a run, particularly the fourth quarter.
I think the Clippers got it down to about seven, but the Lakers kept fighting, kept pushing, hit big shots a D at a Big three in the clutch.
Avery Bradley as I mentioned six threes, he was phenomenal.
Guys did really, really well.
And so, you know, I'm I'm happy that the Lakers pulled.
Got these winds, obviously.
I mean, why would not be, um, but also the Lakers showed the rest of the world, you know, all those folks that still dealt the Lakers.
Ah, it showed that Lakers Air Peru.
And there's somebody out there making excuses.
I mean, look, Pat Beverly was asked, How tough is it to guard LeBron? And he happened to say, It's not tough at all, and I find that to be a really, really lame thing to say.
I mean, you can admit that the best player in the world is tough to guard, and I mean, you you come off really foolish when you don't do that.
I mean, guys, give credit deli guys all time superstars give credit to all the superstars all the time.
And for pat begged, act like LeBron is is basically a nobody.
And and guarding him is nothing.
Pat Belding, guard LeBron in that game.
So I did and co I couldn't do nothing with him.
So I find all those things lame.
But I'm still searching through years like that can read to you guys this this data that I found This is what happened when you tweet too much.
Honestly, Um oh, well, but when I was essentially trying to show you guys, is that, um, the net rating from our Keefe versus Marcus? I mean, I believe in that Lakers Lakers Clippers game are Keith had a net rating of 21.
2 and Marcus on the Clippers had a negative net rating of 19.8.
So, you know, I simply bring that up to say I think the Clippers, they gave up a lot to get Marcus and Marcus is a phenomenal place that this is an indictment on him.
Anybody can have off game or whatever, but the Clippers gave up a first round pick, a first round pick swap, I think Denver second round pick Mo Harkless, obviously, and they gave up.
Jerome Robinson, who was a lottery pick the year before, and the Lakers gave up nobody for Marcus.
I was over Marquis and they got really good production out of him.
Ah, and it just goes to show you I think the Clippers gave up a CZ, much as they did because they didn't want the Lakers to be in play for Marcus Moors and whatever we got his brother, his twin brother.
Ah, and he's given us exactly what we need out of that four position, and he completes a small ball five.
But he's really, really solid at the four now.
Something I was looking at earlier today that I didn't even really realize is that the Lakers have the legit chance to catch the Milwaukee Bucks for the best record in MBA.
I mean, I was not expecting that when I started looking at looking at the standings today.
Um, the Lakers are 49 13 second best record in MBA.
The Bucks are 53 11.
The Bucks have 18 games left in the Lakers, have 20 left.
But what's really interesting is that, um, the Lakers are on Lee to back in the loss column verse.
The Milwaukee Bucks and the Bucks right now are playing Denver in Denver.
So let me see if I can go check in real quick on that game because they were losing When I checked it earlier.
I think it was like 17 to 11.
Ah, Denver was winning in these games is gonna matter.
Um, you know, players talk like and coaches talk like it's not important to get, you know, go for the top seed.
But you ever shot to go for you Go forward.
You want home court and, um certainly in the game against the Clippers, for anyone who doubted that it was a Lakers town, you know, for those idiots out there that think that, you know a good Clipper team couldn't solve a sudden take away, you know, the 16 championships that the Lakers have brought to their fans.
But beyond that, um, if the Clippers have, you know, if the Clippers and Lakers meet, meet up, that's gonna be a series of all Laker games.
Laker home games doesn't matter if the Clippers glow goes on the floor and it covering up banners and all that nonsense.
Um, from what? I understand the crowd at Staples Center yesterday with more 70 30 Lakers.
So it'll be a tough one for the Clippers.
I'm looking at this book's dimmer match up 11 minutes to go in the second quarter and Denver is up 41 26 Now, to be fair, Um, Chris Middleton's not playing Johannes.
I think he has a strained knee, so he's gonna be out for a few games.
Brook Lopez is not playing.
Di Vincenzo is not playing.
Marvin Williams is not playing.
So they basically are playing all their backups in this game.
That tells me that the Bucks are kind of throwing this game away.
Um, and it is what it is.
Denver's a really good team.
So what they probably figured was they weren't gonna be able to beat Denver anyway without Yana.
So they just said We're gonna rest all of our starters and so be it.
So nobody on that team right now is performing at a high level.
Um, and the funny thing is, on the books.
I mean, I'm sorry on the nuggets.
Mean Millsap past 13.
But Yokich, he's over.
One has zero points.
Um, Jerry and Grant has 11 off the bench.
But you know, these these air meaningful games, Because one, any laws that the Bucks takes, you know, puts the Lakers in closer position to take the top C, which I don't think anybody thought that would. That would be the case.
You know, the way the buck for just kind of humming along all season long, Um, but also did the Nuggets beating the box.
Right now, the Nuggets are, um, a full game behind the Clippers for the second seat.
So the Nuggets obviously need those way and so they can get the second seed and it's gonna be interesting.
It's gonna be really interesting because the Lakers and nine and one right now in the last 10 games I'm the Thunder to fit the seed in the West are eight and two.
But everybody else in that Western Conference race, they're kind of average right now.
Clippers or six and four in their last 10 nuggets or five and five Jazz Air six and four rockets, or six and four average are six and four, and the Graves, who at the eighth seed.
They're four and six.
So these games are gonna matter.
Um, and it's gonna be really interesting to see how the Lakers play it out.
I mean, we're hearing that, you know, LeBron anti Davis.
Ah, ah, Alex Caruso.
They're all you know.
There are probable, I believe for a game against I should have known this on top of my head, but our game against the Nets on Tuesday the 10th.
But maybe LeBron doesn't play.
Or maybe some of those guys rest.
And you know who knows how the Lakers want to carry that game.
But the Nets just firing Kenny Jackson.
Um, you know, they are bitten shambles, and maybe the Lakers feel like they could.
They could arrest one of their key guys and and still get the win against the Nets.
But you know, beyond all of that, the Lakers are in prime position to catch the books.
And I don't know how important that is to them.
Um, but I say they go for if they ever shot.
Now you don't want to go for it, you know, risking your guy's health and things like that.
But, you know, let me be really clear about something.
There was a lot of talk about the Lakers strength of schedule, and the Lakers weren't this.
The Lakers weren't that.
Allow me to share some data with you guys.
So the lake, these are some of the big games that Lakers have played in the last month or so.
They beat the Nuggets.
They beat the Celtics.
They beat the 70 Sixers.
They beat the Bucks and they beat the Clippers.
Just so you guys know the Lakers have 20 wins against plus 500 teams in the NBA, so that means teams have a winning record.
The Lakers have 20 wins against those teams, and if you did not know, that's the most in the NBA.
So right now verse plus 500 teams, the Liquor's a 2011 Clippers Air 19 and 12 Rockets or 17 and 12 bucks or 16 and nine Nuggets are 16 11 the Heat or 15 and 11.
Pacers 13 and 14.
Jazz 13 and 15 76 years.
13 and 18 the Mavs 11 17 and the Raptors, 10 and 14.
The Lakers have not only beat the teams they're supposed to be but they beat all the good teams also in a way that everybody else has not.
So this team is really, really good and as far as I'm concerned, LeBron's day MVP I haven't talked a whole lot this year belt who I thought would be M v p.
And I did say coming into the season, I thought that anti Davis would need to go for M v p.
Ah but he's clearly going for the defensive player of the year.
I think he is the defensive player of the year and but I think LeBron's name v p um, whatever narrative you want to spend, it is what it is.
But LeBron is is he's the engine on this team.
He's the engine and what he did to Johannes and Kawai.
I mean, if you didn't know this, LeBron had more points, rebounds and assists and both games against the Bucks and Clippers.
Then Johannes and Kawai combined, so he's sending a message and you know, if the Lakers get the tops.
So a lot of people are saying based on these last two wins and LeBron has swung them BP conversation to in his favorite and that may be true for some.
Certainly, if the Lakers have a chance to get the top seed and they get it or tie the books, they're going to a lot of voters that look at LeBron and give him the MVP.
But then there are voters that don't want to give it to him at all.
I hope he gets it.
But more than anything, hope the Lakers won a championship.
And right now they're pacing along to be right there, Uh, at the end of the year, standing up with that Larry O'Brien on top of them over their heads.
I mean, I'm I'm I can't wait, Ah, for that to happen.
And I'm sure all the Lakers fans out there can't wait for it, either, cause it's gonna be really sweet to get back to all those folks that were talking trash about us and all those folks who predicted that the Lakers wouldn't, you know, finish high and in the Western Conference.
I'm looking at ESPN, Eh? NBA playoff predictions at the beginning of season did the Lakers as the five seed.
Okay, the five seed um, ESPN is BP I best chances to win the 19 4020 NBA title.
They have the Bucks.
One Clippers to 76 years.
Three Jazz for Nuggets five.
Nothing about the Lakers and then ESPN put out.
Ah, they asked their panel of experts.
Who's gonna win, then be a title.
Clippers got 54.
5% of the votes.
The books got 36.
4% of the votes.
The Lakers got zero, but there's a lot of backtracking going on right now.
Me, Mike Greenberg, on ESPN, said that everybody knew the Lakers were the best team in the NBA who, outside of L. A.
Or outside of Laker fans with saying that because I, for one, didn't hear anybody say that Lakers fans had to set people straight and Lakers fans keep receipts.
So Tim Bon temps of ESPN ah, he mentioned that Lakers hands let them notes on the foolishness that he that he was saying earlier in the season almost say, is this? This Lakers team is really good, and it shouldn't shock anybody if they end up winning there be a championship, So I'm gonna leave.
I'm gonna leave it on that, um I want to also give a shout out to the franchise sports.
