Hello.
00:03:17
How are we doing today? All right, So here's the deal.
00:03:26
Seems Jimmer say, as normal, by the way, Dave with a dolphin steaks for joining the stream.
00:03:31
I appreciate you being here.
00:03:33
So Jimmer say, Ever since the NFL combine was hosted in Indianapolis at Lucas Oil Stadium, he has always done a press conference ahead of that combine.
00:03:50
Basically, just tow reiterate.
00:03:52
You know how pleasant it is to have the combine hosted in Indy and gets kind of a state of the team a duress for the Indianapolis Colts and goes over a few other things that, you know, he himself has to do with, you know, with a lot of charities, a lot of questions that the media has or brought out.
00:04:19
And I just thought, you know, it would be nice to bring this to you guys, let you see exactly what's going on.
00:04:30
Um what what he actually has to say, Ask questions.
00:04:35
I'm gonna pause this video every once in a while.
00:04:38
As you can see below me, he does answer kind of questions about you know, what we got down here with, You know, the question.
00:04:47
Who's gonna be the Colts quarterback? Is it going? Are they gonna stick with per set? Are they going to draft somebody? Are they gonna grab someone in free agency? Uh, answer some questions on who he believes are some of the more up and coming Indianapolis Colts who needs to step up Why the courts failed to go anywhere past seven and nine things of that nature.
00:05:09
So without further ado, I'm gonna go ahead.
00:05:11
I'm gonna click on the quick on this, get this video started, and hopefully, hopefully I'll get some interactions from some of you guys because I would really like, uh, some questions or comments as this goes sighted about obviously the combine being back in town.
00:05:35
Um, it's something that's very important to Indianapolis.
00:05:41
And, um uh, unlike, um, a draft, for instance, which last three days, you know, this is an event that goes on for two weeks, almost.
00:05:54
And you know if you talk to general managers.
00:05:58
If you talk to head coaches.
00:06:00
You talked to team doctors.
00:06:02
No one does it like we can do it here.
00:06:05
And so, um, I think it's important to remember.
00:06:10
Lookit, there's traditions that stay in place, you know, Thanksgiving game, Dallas, Detroit.
00:06:16
We've talked about that.
00:06:17
His owners, we said we want to keep that, um, in place because almost 1/2 a century.
00:06:23
So, um, uh, we're excited about having everyone come to town.
00:06:29
It's a centric place here in the Midwest where people come, I think particularly medically, you know, we're able to really get people, um, and get, you know, if they need MRI's wherever they need.
00:06:43
I think we're you know, that's a strength, and the centralization of downtown is a strength.
00:06:51
Um, so, um, it's important to us.
00:06:54
It's a big economic impact for for this city.
00:06:58
Um, and, uh, we don't We don't take that lightly.
00:07:02
Um, and so, um ah, we look forward to having it for many years to come.
00:07:09
Um uh, another thing you know I'd like to mention is that, um you know, the colts, um, and myself in the Earth's a family.
00:07:21
You know, we really, um, taking aggressive approach to fighting alcoholism and addiction all throughout Indiana.
00:07:30
You know, I I dispensed and approved millions of dollars in multiple places in the state.
00:07:38
Um, this is a disease.
00:07:40
Um, that's a difficult disease.
00:07:43
I mean, you put 95 people in a room or 100 people in a room.
00:07:48
You know, five people will come out in remission, long term, two years or more.
00:07:55
It's that devastating.
00:07:56
It's not like pancreatic cancer is not like colon cancer.
00:08:00
It is a disease.
00:08:02
And I think it's important.
00:08:04
Um, um, you know, we we get people and protect people.
00:08:10
And people aren't shamed from this disease because that kills.
00:08:14
And, um uh, you know, we're working with I.
00:08:18
You health one of our big partners.
00:08:21
They have a tremendous program.
00:08:23
Um, there's various other places where I have approved millions of dollars just in the in the next 12 months.
00:08:30
And it's something that's important to me and this this franchise.
00:08:37
So, um, I just want to talk about that.
00:08:42
Um, I know that, you know, talking about the football team is your guys maybe favorite subject mine, too.
00:08:50
Um, I mean, we're excited.
00:08:52
I mean, lookit.
00:08:53
I mean, out the church today.
00:08:56
And the minister said, you know, to dream without the constraints of reason, you know, because we wouldn't be on the moon, we wouldn't be, you know, doing the things we've done.
00:09:12
If we couldn't dream without the constraints of reason because reason limits us.
00:09:17
You know that that that that that's ah, limitation.
00:09:22
And, um, you know, not to get too trippy, but, you know, John Lennon's imagine.
00:09:26
I mean, that's what it's about.
00:09:27
I mean, you know, I mean, I believe you know, we never give up five minutes before the miracle and what we're looking for with this franchise I know with Chris Balan.
00:09:39
Frank, right? I know we have the right people in place.
00:09:43
Unquestionably crowd.
00:09:45
We'd welcome to string.
00:09:46
Appreciate. Come here.
00:09:47
We have all pros on this team that we have Hall of Famers on this team.
00:09:51
Um, you know, we have needs, um we have eight picks, three and you know, the first and second round, um, early in the second round from the Redskins and then our picks in the upper half of the second round.
00:10:10
So, you know, whatever Chris decides to do, you know, he'll come to me as as, ah, decades have passed.
00:10:17
Like Bill Paul used to come to me.
00:10:19
And, um you know, um uh, you know, we'll we'll put out some smoke signals that I'll be intended to be Miss Red, and and, uh and we'll quietly make the pick, and we'll see what happens.
00:10:34
You know, Um ah, I know.
00:10:39
Uh, you guys, you know, want to ask me about Andrew.
00:10:42
Um, look it, I mean, first of all, while I've got it here, first thing is you got to remember Jimmer say is not an auditory guy.
00:10:54
Um, he's not big into college football frenzy.
00:10:57
Thanks for joining the stream.
00:10:59
He does get up, make press conference and stuff.
00:11:03
But that's his job.
00:11:04
He owns a team, so he wants to sit down.
00:11:06
He knows football.
00:11:07
He understands.
00:11:09
He already.
00:11:10
Ah, spoke about how you know having the combine here in India is great.
00:11:18
Brady's not coming to Andy and Burt.
00:11:21
Brady's not gonna come to Indy.
00:11:22
I think Brady is probably gonna end up sticking around.
00:11:26
Okay, Um, I think it would be mixed feelings.
00:11:30
I think there would be mixed feelings.
00:11:32
Some people, some fans, obviously would absolutely hate that idea.
00:11:37
They'd be.
00:11:39
So I would go with Flora, say some of would even be disgusted, right? Other fans, they be all for it because Brady's a great quarterback or what other fans like myself would not like the idea because he played for the Patriots, but because I believe he is on the downside of his career.
00:11:59
And I think the Indianapolis Colts need to be stepping up into the future of the Colts rather than going after, uh, quarterbacks or other players that are in the back side of their Caribbean to be stepping board with, with new fresh talent coming in so that they're stronger in the future, much like how they do already anyhow.
00:12:20
Ever since Chris Mallards came in, he's really been building the team through the draft.
00:12:24
I really like that idea.
00:12:27
Very polar opposite of toe.
00:12:28
What say Grigson used to do where he would just make big splash signings and free agency valor tins to use that money that he has in re signing players that's already in on the team to larger deals to reward them for a good good season or good couple seasons that they've shown, Um, so I personally I would not be completely against Brady being here because of, you know, the fact that he played for New England.
00:12:59
I just think, you know, he's in the last year or two of his career, and I think the court should be going with someone younger and with yeah, just got more staying power right now.
00:13:13
Hey, talked about how he has put out millions every year he puts out Jim Irsay's put out millions of dollars every year in order to fight different diseases and stuff like that.
00:13:25
And he does, uh, it's well do***ented that he's had on alcoholism problem.
00:13:32
He's had issues with painkillers that I that I've read about in the past, and he's won the fight.
00:13:39
He wants to give back to the community, help fight that disease by, uh, dishing out extra money for research and help on other people that does this, you know, have these problems.
00:13:52
So I commend him for that.
00:13:55
But also he talked about having the combine here.
00:13:59
He believes that Indianapolis is one of the better places in the country to deal with something like I you Health is one of the best medical centers in the nation.
00:14:13
A lot of people don't realize this is where a lot of doctors come from.
00:14:16
Around the world is Indiana University Health Center.
00:14:21
So, um, this is one of the reasons I believe is a selling point on why the combine sticks around in Indianapolis and hopefully, we'll stick around for a lot longer in the future.
00:14:34
Uh, let's let's go on, go into this.
00:14:36
He's talking about the draft, and, um, the multiple picks of the Colts have, including the early circuit second rounder from the Redskins.
00:14:48
Andrews, my friend.
00:14:49
And I missed my friends.
00:14:51
You know, I I love winning games with them.
00:14:54
I love seeing is happiness in the locker room.
00:14:57
But right now, Jerry kid, welcome to the free.
00:15:00
I know coaches at dinner with Chris had dinner with him.
00:15:04
Um, but I really you know, I mean, I can't comment on anything in terms of, you know, Will you ever come back? Is he come back? This year's you come back next year? I I don't know.
00:15:17
You know, I haven't asked him, and I think right now he's doing the most honorable and the thing that I would want to do the most.
00:15:27
You know, he's an excellent husband has been a tremendous father to Lucy, and to me, that's where we all started.
00:15:32
Men, women, you know.
00:15:33
So he's already passed the curve.
00:15:37
And, uh um, so we'll see what happens.
00:15:44
It's definitely interesting, I'll tell you that.
00:15:46
We've had some interesting discussions at all sorts of things.
00:15:50
Um, but, hey, if we're going to the stadium for, ah Sunday night football game were lining up with Jacoby today.
00:15:57
So, um, uh, I'm really excited about our football team, you know? Quentin, Alison, Darius, Leonard. Bobby.
00:16:06
Okay, Ricky, we think is gonna be a big time player.
00:16:09
Pro ballplayer.
00:16:10
Um, we love Kenny more, um, love the whole offensive line, you know? Hey, I mean, Marlon Mack, we love, but we love the other two guys backing him up.
00:16:21
Three guys, Really? One thing I do and you know, I was disappointed with I don't understand is why we were what we were, which was a playoff team winning playoff games.
00:16:33
And we didn't have one home game on national TV last year.
00:16:37
That's unprecedented, you know, I don't understand that you know.
00:16:41
So it's something that I just have to pursue and and you know me.
00:16:46
I protect the Colts turf, and I love Coach Nation, and I will fight as hard as I can.
00:16:54
Um, you know, to accomplish the things we do, um, you know, it's about winning on the field and winning in the community.
00:17:03
And it's just a privilege, you know, as I said, you know, with Edgerrin James asking me toe induct him into the Hall of Fame.
00:17:12
I mean, that'd be asked by two players within five years.
00:17:16
I I'm overwhelmed.
00:17:18
I mean, with humility and gratitude.
00:17:21
I mean, it just it's just, you know, really, But almost the greatest honor and owner could be bestowed.
00:17:28
But I love those guys, man.
00:17:29
I love him.
00:17:30
I wish they'd never gold.
00:17:31
I remember, you know, looking at, I was standing right behind Marvin edger and pate when they're young and they're coming out of the locker room.
00:17:40
I just froze that image in my mind.
00:17:42
You know what I said? Don't you ever forget this, son because you won't see it again, you know? And so, uh, uh, i'll just open up to questions from there, guys.
00:17:54
Okay, so he spoke a little bit about, uh, throwing out smoke signals.
00:18:05
You know, obviously, every team does that before the draft in free agency, um, kind of throwing other teams off their scent, so they don't know what exactly you're doing.
00:18:14
Whether or not they're going after a quarterback not going after quarterback.
00:18:19
Which player in the draft? Which player and free agency they're looking to grab.
00:18:23
Obviously, no team wants another team to even have any kind of an idea, because that's an advantage.
00:18:29
Okay, He also spoke about, uh, right now, if they start, Jacoby would be the starter.
00:18:38
Well, yeah, because he's the best quarterback that we have on the team at this current time.
00:18:43
That's not saying that the Indianapolis Colts ain't gonna pursue one in free agency or in the draft.
00:18:49
He spoke of some very high end players that he believes Chris Ballard believes frank right belief, and many media believed that the courts have.
00:18:58
They're on the rise now, obviously already know.
00:19:00
Quit Nelson, Darius Leonard.
00:19:02
Bobby Okereke, who in a rookie last year, ah, played extremely well when he came in, Whether it was Sam, whether he came in playing for Darius Leonard.
00:19:14
Whether he played Mike, it doesn't matter.
00:19:16
He played very, very well at linebacker Kenny Maur, eyes believed to be one of the best nickel corners in the league.
00:19:25
He missed plenty of time last year.
00:19:27
That kind of sucked for the team when it came to, like Pass Russia's Well, you can't forget about him because the year before, Kenny Moore had, like five ***, you know, at Nickel Corner due to his nickel blitz, he just has an amazing ability to be able to get to the quarterback.
00:19:42
When he sent in on those blitzes, he spoke about how the year prior, because I made it to the playoffs and actually made it out of the first round of the playoffs and yet did not have a home game televised on national TV this past year after very upsetting.
00:20:03
A lot of people say it's because a small market team, but that should not matter.
00:20:07
I believe that ****.
00:20:08
If you have a successful team and you're out there and you're playing, you should have that now.
00:20:13
Yes, they had some primetime games like it gets Kansas City, which they won, you know, but they also had none at home.
00:20:24
Will that change in the future? Who knows? But Jim M****ille is nothing but in Indianapolis fan Ah, Colt fan and he will fight, as he said for the Indy nation, so that we get our publicity's because the more publicity's Indianapolis has, um, the more money will roll in for him, Obviously, do the sales and stuff like that, but also, uh, more good public eye so that he could continue to host things like the combine and other such moving on for questions.
00:21:05
Now I see us locking up long term listed.
00:21:25
I mean, um, we're a medium sized market team.
00:21:31
Uh, and that sort of thing, um and, um uh, you know, I think it helps to keep balance, if you will in the league, when your medium are slightly smaller market.
00:21:45
Um, but the main thing is, we do it better than anyone else.
00:21:49
I mean, no one could do it as good as us.
00:21:51
And in the end, isn't that what it's about? I mean, do you guys realize that over the next, you know, five years I mean, you know, we will roughly spend $40 billion I'm player.
00:22:08
40 $1,000,000,000 as a lead.
00:22:13
Um, I think you'd want the right information.
00:22:16
If you're making that investment and you can't get better than Andy right now, well, I think it's just, you know, as you know, with the cell phone these days and Twitter and all those things, there's just a lot of opinions out there, And people like to be provocative, you know, when they put stuff out, you know? Yeah.
00:22:54
I mean, I know you guys got a job to do, and, you know, I'm never against, uh, that.
00:23:00
I mean, I It was a broadcast journalism major. That's a muse.
00:23:04
I'm with you.
00:23:05
Um, I'm a writer at heart, but, you know, really, I think it's been speculation.
00:23:10
Um, it's natural.
00:23:13
I mean, um I mean, we we'd like a permanent Thanksgiving, you know? Will we get it? Probably not.
00:23:21
You know, they want to move the combine out of Indianapolis would happen.
00:23:24
Probably not my opinion.
00:23:26
But, um, you know, I'll fight for Andy tooth and nail to keep it here.
00:23:40
You know, I think that that, um, Jacoby, um, is on the rise, and you got to give him time to develop.
00:23:49
I mean, you know people, you know, forget that, you know, You know, Peyton, one of the greatest ever, in my opinion, The greatest.
00:23:57
Okay, I mean, three and 13 in 98 1 2006 intent, You know, all of a sudden, you know, Jacoby goes seven and nine.
00:24:07
It's like the world's falling apart.
00:24:08
I mean, we had a lot of injuries.
00:24:12
Um, special teams wasn't, um, you know, outstanding.
00:24:17
And, um, the combination of those things and Jacoby being a starter for the first time, that's a lot to overcome.
00:24:25
I mean, you know, seven and nine isn't bad.
00:24:28
I mean, we wanted to win the last game in Jacksonville, were disappointed we couldn't, You know, we wanted to be a but, um, I think that, you know, Chris and Frank and I have really talked about this.
00:24:41
And, man, we're really open minded.
00:24:43
I mean, there's a lot of ways this thing could turn.
00:24:46
Um, but right now, um, you know, Jacoby is a starter.
00:24:52
Um, you know, lawyer, if that's a backup, you know, um I mean, look, I mean, that's our starting point, and I think, um, that's better than then.
00:25:08
You know? Probably, You know, almost half the league.
00:25:10
You know, close to it.
00:25:19
I'm just gonna jump in here now.
00:25:25
Just not what? Three minutes prior, they got done talking about smoke screens.
00:25:32
Do they believe that Jacoby percent is better than half the other court starting quarterbacks in the NFL.
00:25:38
They may.
00:25:39
They met, they make.
00:25:41
And yes, the Colts did have injury for a lot of injuries.
00:25:45
Uh, and special teams wasn't all that great, you know that? They had a little bit of issues with the special teams units, um, but smokes for most screens or smoke screens as he hath.
00:25:58
He was saying I without a doubt, think that they're gonna be looking for somebody, but they're not gonna let you know that who it is that they're going for.
00:26:10
He even had the the I almost want to say that the gold.
00:26:16
It's a well, Brian Hoyer's are back.
00:26:18
I hope.
00:26:19
The gosh Brian Hoyer is not on the team starting next year.
00:26:22
I absolutely hope to God he is not.
00:26:26
I do not like Brian Hoyer.
00:26:28
I did not like I liked him as someone on the sidelines.
00:26:33
Someone in the locker room at the veteran presence in that quarterback room in that offensive room, along with, like t wire Anthony Castonzo.
00:26:42
I am perfectly fine with him as a veteran presence.
00:26:46
I am not fine with him being on the field, throwing a football around.
00:26:50
I think that, um uh, he proved it in the Pittsburgh game.
00:26:55
He proved it in the Miami game that he was just not ableto have that connection with the rest of the offense, especially the wide receivers in order to command the office.
00:27:09
He did not have that that connection with it to be ableto win games and not turn the ball over.
00:27:16
Really? So I believe that, Yes, they they do have every right in the world to say, You know, there was a lot of injuries that specific positions, especially at wide receiver, and that really hurt Jacoby.
00:27:31
He's progress along with his knee injury that happened in Pittsburgh.
00:27:35
But, you know, he also has say, Well, look at the Colts.
00:27:40
So when they win 13 and 31 season, and two years later, they went six in 10 You know it happened, but you can't worry about that.
00:27:51
You just got to move on to the next season, and I fully fully believe in that.
00:27:57
I think the Indianapolis Colts should have a very good season next year.
00:28:01
Aromas Chris Ballard and Frank, right? Go out there and fill the void with his obvious that we need.
00:28:17
Well, I don't think you know that You ever quite come to terms with that, you know? I mean, you know, he's a special guy, a special guy for your organization.
00:28:29
Um, at 29 years old, I told him I said, Andrew, I mean, this is a free country, and I respect your decision.
00:28:36
You know, I would never want to talk someone out of that because this game is played.
00:28:43
You know, it's a not a contact sport.
00:28:45
It's a collision sport, you know, and it's a special quarterback.
00:28:49
However, these days, quarterbacks are protected more than ever, you know.
00:28:53
I mean, you know, anyone knows you touch a quarterback that that flags on the ground 15 yards, so I think that's a benefit.
00:29:01
And, um, you know, I tried to make the argument, you know, also that you know, what about the 700 million you're leaving on the table? I, um uh, s O, But I think in the end, uh, I just, you know, honestly, I mean this, you know, the colds.
00:29:22
You know, I think we'll have, um, in outstanding decade.
00:29:27
And I think Andrew will have an outstanding life If those things meet.
00:29:32
It's very possible, but it's also not possible.
00:29:35
And I I really don't have any updated information More than that, you know, because, um you know, uh, we just we just haven't talked to him, you know? I mean, Chris and Frank, they talked about Lucy about family, about different things, and and so, really, right now, it's just something that, you know, we'll see what happens.
00:29:57
But, um, you know, like I said before, we have to go on with the assumption that he's not coming back, comes back, you know? That's easy.
00:30:07
You know? I mean, that that's easier, you know, But we'll, you know, we'll keep evaluating that position.
00:30:14
We know.
00:30:15
I mean, you guys know how important that is.
00:30:18
Um I mean, you know, I know how important that.
00:30:20
So, um, I know we'll find the right answer.
00:30:24
And if Jacoby can, you know, have a much higher ceiling and excel, that's a possibility.
00:30:31
You know, if we draft someone, that's a possibility.
00:30:36
Doesn't have to be the first round.
00:30:37
You know, there's a lot of good players out there, you know? I know we were gonna take, um, Russell Wilson the year we took Andrew, uh, in the fourth round, but he was gone in the third, you know? But we're taking, you know, but that's a you know, a long story.
00:30:58
You know, we were also taken, you know, um uh, and, you know, just you can go down and feel the pain to many times.
00:31:07
Unfortunately, just, um So, um, we'll see what happens.
00:31:12
But that position obviously is very important.
00:31:18
Just straight up.
00:31:19
Real quick, Real simple.
00:31:20
Basically, what he's saying about Andrew Luck is they're not closing the door on Andrew luck.
00:31:24
If Andrew Luck wishes to come back, I wholeheartedly believe they would accept him open arms.
00:31:32
But they are accepting his decision that he's not playing anymore.
00:31:37
And they're moving on with with the mindset that Andrew Luck will not play anymore.
00:31:44
Um, they're still friends.
00:31:46
They'd still have dinners.
00:31:47
They still have talks, but he's just got done saying he's never Oh, never even asked him to come back, you know, because he accepts his decision in that situation is kind of odd that he did say that they they drafted Andrew Luck that they were going to draft Russell Wilson as well, you know, in the fourth round they were planning on drafting, and but Seattle already grabbed him.
00:32:16
Interesting.
00:32:17
You know, there are quarterbacks, he said, beyond the first round X, that Ballard to be mean.
00:32:25
But is that a smoke signal? Is that a smoke signal telling them, Hey, you know, we're not gonna grab someone right away or that him think there are players legitimately that we're looking at beyond the first round, you know? So that's something to keep an eye on. Let's move on.
00:32:50
You know, I don't know.
00:32:52
I mean, I know he's rehabbing that knee, and, um, you know, it's something Chris and Frank will talk about and and, you know, give their opinion to me.
00:33:03
I mean, as an owner, you know, I occasionally step in, but it's not often I like to give my people you in a room to make mistakes, you know, because oftentimes that's how you learn the best way of learning You know it hurts, but you learn that way.
00:33:19
Um and so you know, I don't know.
00:33:23
I mean, he's rehabbing now.
00:33:25
I mean, Adam knows how much I think of him.
00:33:28
I just you know, I he's unbelievable.
00:33:31
I mean, you know, we're out here with PGA players and you know, no one from 2 20 on a side shot.
00:33:39
He takes McAfee.
00:33:40
He's rescue club and hits it on the green.
00:33:43
Why the top 64 tops 60 players in the world.
00:33:47
Only one could get it on.
00:33:48
But Adam got it on.
00:33:49
And I said before you hit the shot, you watch and he's gonna put it on the green because Adam's just a winner and any great, great, great great great grandfather that got out of Custer's last stand Man, that's good.
00:34:02
That's that's good energy, man.
00:34:04
So I don't know if we'll see.
00:34:06
You know, he's in a rehab mode now, and and we're in the mode of trying to put the team together real quick about out of military if he decides to come back, which I'm not 100% sure.
00:34:20
Iwill Colts did grab somebody while he went and had his knee surgery and that player best one field goal in like three or four games.
00:34:32
May all the extra points made all of his 50 plus yard field goals he just missed.
00:34:38
I think it was like a 40 48 or something like that.
00:34:42
UM, he's been re signed for a one year extension, just in case Adam Bennett Terry doesn't come back.
00:34:49
A lot of people think that Adam Bennett, Terry, you know, we shouldn't have kept him.
00:34:54
He had.
00:34:56
He had knee problems.
00:34:58
He had knee problems during the training camp.
00:35:01
During preseason, it was known, and he ended up having to have surgery on his knee.
00:35:09
Whether or not he comes back, I don't know if he decides to come back.
00:35:12
I honestly do not think that Jim are saying Chris Ballard and Frank Reich would try to push him to retire.
00:35:19
I honestly don't believe that They have too much respect for the guy, and they believe that Adam Venit Terry knows himself better than they know him, so they'll let that decision rests on his shoulders and not make it for the guy.
00:35:57
Well, I can't talk about any specific player.
00:36:01
I would just say that, um you know, all options are open, my guy, You know, we're you know, I mean, we've all challenged each other toe, keep the ancient enemy of rationalization out of the room, you know, and not let the board, um, creep up.
00:36:23
Um, just because someone on the board, you know, there's such a need there you start saying, Yeah, but the scouts at this, and I mean, I know you have to keep that out of the room and be focused, and we have to keep each other, hold each other.
00:36:40
Akane will the three of us.
00:36:41
And we do, um it's my responsibility in the end to ask the right questions.
00:36:48
You know, Frank and Chris are responsible for the answers, but I'm responsible for the right questions.
00:36:53
And I asked him, you know, and, um and generally, you know, almost always go along with, you know, And I mean, you know, on draft day, Chris is gonna make the call, you know, on this, you know, the quarterback position.
00:37:07
You know, the three of us will make it.
00:37:09
You know, we have to.
00:37:10
I mean, it's it's too big of a decision, but, um, you know all options around the table.
00:37:18
Like, you know, it's really I've never quite been in a year when this was so unusual, If you will, you know, Um um but, uh, you know, it's exciting.
00:37:33
I mean, I look at the challenge.
00:37:35
I don't look at it.
00:37:36
It's like, Oh, God, you know, What are we gonna do? I mean, not at all.
00:37:40
I mean, that's, um you know, I see you know, great opportunity.
00:37:46
And I have strong feelings about where this football team Congar Oh, this decade, just real quick.
00:37:57
Basically, what he's saying is, um, when it comes to the quarterback position, that is definitely gonna be a discussion among all three of the high ups Chris Ballard, Frank, right? NGO Mercy are all gonna be in on that to make sure that they get the right guy to head the quarterback position for the Indianapolis Colts.
00:38:21
Not just next year, but for years to come.
00:38:24
And no Jimmer say he's not the guy that you know.
00:38:27
He admits he's not the guy that's gonna go out there and be like this guy could do this, and this guy could do this, and this guy could do this.
00:38:34
What Jim Mercedes there to do is asked that question.
00:38:39
Well, can he lead the team? Does he have the right? You know, uh, mentality in the locker room? Does he have the skill set? Because he had the physical and mental tough.
00:38:54
You know things of that nature.
00:38:56
Because ultimately it's up to Jimmer.
00:38:58
Say he's the one that's got, ah, drop down, you know, offers of money because it's his money, you know, this is this is his baby.
00:39:09
So it's on him now.
00:39:12
He he leaves the majority of the you know, uh, he made Chris Ballard the GM for a reason.
00:39:21
And Chris Ballard is in charge of finding the talent that Jim Irsay wants on the team And that Frank, right once, uh, to fill certain positions.
00:39:36
But it will be, ah, all three of them have to make a decision on the quarterback.
00:39:50
No, I think that, you know, Chris and I talk, and, um, you guys know I've never been shy and spending, you know? I mean, I spent $100 million of my own money keeping that team together when we were in the smallest stadium in the league.
00:40:08
Um I was just about the lowest ticket price until the new dome came.
00:40:14
I'm lying.
00:40:15
Um, you know, and, um uh, it's just a question of, you know, you have We're gonna be And we already are, you know? Ah, winning playoff football team.
00:40:32
I mean, I mean, it hurt us all this year because, you know, we felt that we could be in the championship game and be out there in that sort of thing on maybe win it.
00:40:45
I mean, obviously, we beat Kansas City in Kansas City.
00:40:48
Um, and, uh, um, you know it it was tough, you know, missing t y and and Paris got hurt.
00:40:56
And and, um, and cane, you know, just didn't work out and ended up moving on.
00:41:01
And so, um, you know, there was just some things, you know, Ebron, you know, couldn't play the end of the season.
00:41:09
And I mean, that's a lot of guys, you know, a lot of weapons, not there, you know? So, um, I I just, um I've never shined spending it.
00:41:19
It's just that you have to understand our biggest problem is gonna be How do we fit the guys under the cap? Not how much room we have because, um, you know, uh, we'll see what happens this year, but, um, it's, um you know, we're gonna I'm going to, as always, Um, I'm in it to win, you know? I mean, it's not that I love winning so much.
00:41:49
I just hate losing, you know? I just hate it.
00:41:52
I mean, I just hated I You know, I had to make someone mens in my younger days, you know, just for, um, the frustration of losing, you know, hopelessly competitive.
00:42:06
And, um, I've learned to work out, be a better loser, but I guess temporarily be a loser until we win again.
00:42:28
But, you know, I really haven't, because, I mean, I'm other belief that we have one of the top three head coaches in the league.
00:42:45
And ugly got to a great general manager, and, you know, look, it's a four legged stool.
00:42:52
I've already always talked about it.
00:42:55
General manager, head coach, owner, quarterback, you know, And so, um, you know, we're trying to figure out that that that that fourth peg, um, at that quarterback position.
00:43:09
And so, you know, we're hopeful.
00:43:12
I mean, I like a lot of things about Jacoby.
00:43:15
I have to admit, um and, um and we'll see because we're open minded.
00:43:21
I mean, this is really unusual, you know, the way.
00:43:25
I mean, I've never quite been, you know, I've been the league almost 1/2 a century, and, um, I've never really been through something this different, If that's a word, you know because, um I mean, it's nice, because I think, you know, there's multiple choices on the solutions you pick, but it's also hard because you have toe, you know, pick one of them, and you know, you're gonna be held accountable.
00:43:54
Um, if you don't pick the right one.
00:43:56
So, um uh, but I feel, you know, I feel really hopeful.
00:44:02
Um, about about where this team's going.
00:44:06
I haven't changed my expectations.
00:44:08
I I told you, you know, to dream without the constraints of reason.
00:44:12
You know I wanna win three in a row.
00:44:15
I'll always be that way.
00:44:17
If anyone has a problem with that, then you just got a problem with it.
00:44:20
But, I mean, that's my goal.
00:44:21
You know, I come to work, you know, You want to be, um, the best.
00:44:26
You know.
00:44:27
You want to be the greatest that you can be and not just in your time, but over the ages.
00:44:31
I mean, that's why we compete in this league.
00:44:33
And so, um I mean, look it, we have, as I said, done some remarkable things.
00:44:42
You know? I mean, winning, you know, to home a F C championship games and hosting a Super Bowl all within six years.
00:44:50
I don't think that's ever been done to my knowledge, you know, And, uh, um, you know, it's it's, um uh it's something where I'm just I mean, you know me, I'm never gonna change my expectation.
00:45:07
I mean, I'm really within reason, you know, But I will say this.
00:45:11
No short cuts, you know, short cuts get you one place back at the end of the line.
00:45:16
You know, this is hard.
00:45:18
That's why it's so meaningful when you accomplish it.
00:45:22
You know, if it wasn't so hard, you know, it wouldn't be that meaningful, you know, holding the trophy.
00:45:28
And I you know, I'm happy for Andy Reid.
00:45:31
He's a friend of mine and Clark Hunt.
00:45:34
You know, I congratulated him, and, um um, it's awesome.
00:45:38
You know, it's awesome that those guys finally got done and and he got it done.
00:45:42
And Mrs Hunt's been a friend of mine for a very long time.
00:45:46
And you guys all know Lamar was like an uncle to me.
00:45:49
I mean, I, you know, I thought the world of the man.
00:45:51
I mean, we need more of his creative thinking as we go forward.
00:45:56
I mean, he was brilliant, you know? And, um and so, you know, I loved what Dad said, though, when he started the a f l.
00:46:07
You know, his dad was a man of few words and big oil.
00:46:11
And they said, Mr Han, your son lost a $1,000,000 on this new team he has in this a f l What do you think about it? And, you know, his dad was a quiet man.
00:46:24
A few words, he said, Well, I guess in 1000 years will we broke, you know? So, you know, I mean that that's kind of, uh, you know, when I when I think about where we're at, um, you know, it's a wild and woolly.
00:46:42
I mean, I love the fact that, you know, I mean, I really believe and I know Chris believes it.
00:46:48
Coach believes it too.
00:46:51
Seven and nine and so close toe being in the NFC championship game, and I'm having a chance to go to the Super Bowl.
00:47:01
You know, those guys are special, Andy's outstanding coach and and all those sort of things.
00:47:09
And so they, you know, they have some special things there that that are, you know, really incredible and hard to stop.
00:47:17
But, uh, but there was a lot of positive things that happened this season, and, um, it's just about time, you know, I think it set us back a little bit time wise, but I think it's really exciting, uh, the place that will end up at because, honestly, I don't know what I've told you guys this before.
00:47:43
Sometimes everyone thinks, well, whoever's in authority, you know, they know the answer, but they're just not saying.
00:47:50
But most time the people authority don't know the answer, and they're trying to find it.
00:47:54
You know, more times and not so you know, I looked in that very back room and there wasn't any guy with a long white beard sitting there with an answer.
00:48:03
You know, the door just didn't open.
00:48:05
So um, but we'll figure it out, and we're gonna We're gonna have greatness is decade.
00:48:10
I can promise cold bands that and we're really excited.
00:48:14
We're excited at the combine in town this week.
00:48:16
It's it's it's big and even a little longer than a week on some things that flag over.
00:48:23
And so, um, you know, we'll go from there, but we're really excited.
00:48:29
So he talked about wanting to have three Super Bowls in a row.
00:48:33
He wants to win three championships in a row.
00:48:36
Not because, ah, because just just because he wants it, you know, he wants to have that pinnacle, something that last through the ages that people remember.
00:48:47
A lot of people remember the Buffalo Bills for the wrong reason.
00:48:51
They went the four Super Bowls in a row, but lost all of them.
00:48:56
He wants to be remembered for something great and you know he owns the team.
00:49:02
He puts his own money into it.
00:49:04
So, yeah, I get that.
00:49:05
He's very, very dedicated to his team.
00:49:07
He's very, uh, all right.
00:49:12
He's really he's a sportsman, you know? He he he hey spoke about how he hates to lose, not about as much winning, but more about hating the lose that you know that feeling you have when your team loses and you go home and you're just got rest for a week, especially when you're in the playoffs and the A F C championship and Kansas City or New England just absolutely just pound you into the ground.
00:49:38
And he was feeling good until you get there and then you get smashed.
00:49:42
Um, he spoke about, you know, the Colts have a lot of building blocks right now on the team.
00:49:49
He spoke earlier about, uh, you know, Marlon Mack and the backups to the running back position.
00:49:57
You know, like him, Heinz and Wilkins and Johnson, our Jonathan Williams and the rest of the offensive line.
00:50:06
We have an offensive line.
00:50:08
I believe we have some wide receivers.
00:50:10
It's just we got some of them all the more hurt last year, right? We have that.
00:50:15
We need a quarterback, a quarterback that will take this team to the next level, and I honestly do not believe that the course needs somebody who only has a year to left.
00:50:30
I don't I don't believe in the whole go get Philip Rivers or go get Tom Brady.
00:50:35
Okay, I could see him possibly going for Derek Carr or Matthew Stafford.
00:50:40
Either one of those in free agency.
00:50:42
But if they do that, don't expect him to spend a first round pick on a quarterback in the draft.
00:50:47
They might go a little bit later on that 2nd 3rd 4th round.
00:50:51
Um, but we'll see how that works out.
00:50:55
Uh, finish this out, see what he has to say.
00:50:59
Last closing moments.
00:51:06
I can't comment on that, Mike.
00:51:25
No, I think that you really have, you know, Ah, young quarterback with a lot of potential.
00:51:33
And Jacoby, I mean, the Andrew retirement thing.
00:51:38
It was unexpected.
00:51:40
And and so the draft is gonna contain mysteries, you know, Um you know, um, some of them related to help.
00:51:51
I'm in that sort of thing, and and, um, cool and free agencies out there on its unusual year.
00:51:58
So, I mean, I think all those things make it to be really, you know, pretty crazy, you know? I mean, because honestly, I can't tell you.
00:52:09
You know how we're gonna look once it once we run onto the field for 2020.
00:52:15
But but We're excited, guys, all right, that's what he said.
00:52:24
He said, You know, he don't know what we're gonna look like when they runs onto the field.
00:52:28
I mean, you know most of the stuff, but, um, there's still a lot of stuff that open.
00:52:34
I mean, the Colts have over $80 million.
00:52:36
They're second in the league with most amount of cap space.
00:52:40
Uh, fully expect a lot of that money to be spent within the 1st 6 weeks of the year in re signing players.
00:52:49
Guys like Anthony Castonzo needs to get signed.
00:52:53
If he doesn't retire, um, they could go ahead.
00:52:59
Extend Ryan Kelly.
00:53:00
He's he's all he's got his fifth year option.
00:53:02
They could go ahead and drop him an extension.
00:53:06
Marlon Matt can be dropped an extension.
00:53:08
Anthony Walker Jr could be dropped an extension.
00:53:10
Malik Hooker could be dropped an extension.
00:53:12
Ah, lot of this money can be used up now, right? Uh, so whether whether all these guys do is get below 50 million, anything up to $50 million canceling over to the next year.
00:53:27
So he's only got to spend 30 million 30 some milk and then you know he's good for the rest of the year.
00:53:34
The rest of that could be carried over to the next year.
00:53:39
So, no, we don't know 100% what we're going to look like.
00:53:42
Uh, well, Marlon Mat, Probably the starter.
00:53:45
Yes.
00:53:46
You know. Well, the offensive line.
00:53:48
Pretty solid.
00:53:49
Well, depending upon what Anthony Castonzo does, right, well, the defense still be the defense that they were last year.
00:53:55
Most likely.
00:53:56
Will we get another pass rusher? Who knows? Well, we get more cornerbacks.
00:53:59
Who knows? I think that the culture solid at linebacker right now.
00:54:02
Um, I think we need help in the defense of tackle position, nose tackle, position.
00:54:08
I think we have pass rushers on the team that are in development.
00:54:12
Could we get another one on the outside edge? Possibly.
00:54:14
But I think we have developmental guys right now on the team.
00:54:18
Do we end up getting in God way? Who knows, You know, uh, but this is a really exciting time.
00:54:28
The combines gonna be very fun.
00:54:31

00:03:15
Hello.
00:54:31
Uh, free agency is gonna be very fun.
00:54:34
And I can't wait to bring you all the contract when And as it happens, if you're watching this still I appreciate you being here.
