What's up, people? This is Pat here, e with yard barker.
And today we're talking about the race for the eighth seed in the Western Conference with about 27 28 games remaining on every team schedule.
There's a nice little four team race for the eighth seed in the Western Conference between the Memphis Grizzlies, the Portland Trail Blazers, the San Antonio Spurs and in New Orleans Pelicans.
Let's talk about what's at stake for each of these teams as they head down the stretch run.
The Memphis Grizzlies are 28 26 currently have a four game lead on the ninth seeded Portland Trail Blazers.
Really, nothing's at stake for this.
This team they're playing with found money this season.
They were supposed to stink, supposed to be one of the worst teams in the league.
Rookie point guard John Durant, a second year big man, and General Jackson Jr in just a young roster in general and rookie head coach as well.
But instead this seems been great, and they're actually playing very competent basketball.
They've very solid offense, very solid defense.
And even though they have the toughest remaining schedule in the NBA, I expect them to be right there in the thick of it when it's all said and done it.
We have the Portland Trailblazers.
They're 25 31 therefore games back of the Grizzlies right now.
What's this safe for them? Uh, nothing except the fact that their best player, Damian Lillard's having one of the best seasons of his career, probably the best season, his career.
His numbers are very comparable to Steph Curry's when Steph Curry won the N V P unanimously in 15 4016 and so the Trail Blazers right now might waste a Herculean effort from their franchise player.
UH, number three.
They're currently 23 31 there.
Five games back of the Grizzlies.
And what's that state for them? Nothing except a 22 year playoff streak.
22 years back in 1997 Gregg Popovich had a front office position.
He fired the head coach.
He came down to be the head coach, drafted Tim Duncan, and he's made the playoffs in every single season. Sense.
San Antonio Spurs fans.
I think this is a year they find they missed the playoffs.
Lastly, we have the New Orleans pelicans.
They're currently 23 32.
They're five and 1/2 back of the Grizzlies.
What's at stake for them? J.
Re****'s 13 year playoff streak is at stake.
I'm sure some you remember earlier this year in preseason J.
Joked with Zion Williamson that he better not eff this up.
And while Zion Stone is best in the 10 games that he's played in, it's gonna be a tough lead that the Grizzlies, and then the teams ahead of of the Pelicans would have to blow for the for the pelicans to make the playoffs.
But if anybody can do it and Zion and J. J.
So those are my thoughts on the race for the Western Conference eight seed.
