you two met Mexico Sports.
Hey, we're gonna be talking about the Daytona 500.
Well, most of you don't know now.
I've been the last three Dover spreading races.
I've been natural.
17 2018 2019 with 2018 2019 being in Booth in a suite.
So most of you probably know in sports world NASCAR driver Ryan Newman almost nearly passed away in a horrific acts.
And I just want to talk about Ryan Newman, tell you guys a little bit about him and my opinion on this crash.
First, I'm gonna start off with the Daytona 562nd running.
February 14th 2020.
Everybody was there.
Dave Portner is there with bar stool Sports uber driver Debbie.
There's a bunch of other celebrities as well as our president.
United States. Donald J.
He made an appearance.
He's the grand marshal.
He led the field, um, to be let he paced the field at the start of the race before it all started.
Jimmy Johnson had his own pace lap as well, since he will be stopping here.
We start racing full time at the end of the season and overall is a pretty decent race.
I missed most of it.
I was at work, but I was there for the last 15 20 laps when the big one happened and this race ended up lasting 209 last longest race in Daytona 500 history was also rain delayed.
Only got 20 laps in on Sunday.
Get the rest of the race.
And on Monday, um, coming into the final lap, there was a green white checkered.
Um, what I can remember is Ryan Newman was the leader.
But before we get into that, I will be discussing about Ryan Newman.
He is 42 years old.
He has been in this league.
This series has been announced car for years.
He used the 2002 Rookie of the Year of the Winston Cup.
Serious. He's won all the races.
He's one song. He's won 18 career races.
He's one, and it's won the Daytona 500.
He's won the Brickyard 402,013 and he's won the Winston A k a.
The All Star race in 2000 and two. I concur.
You sure he's got 18 couplings he's raised.
But on all of the major teams, such as Penske Racing now Team Penske, he jumped over to Stewart Haas racing for Tony Stewart and Gene Haas.
He's joined Richard Childress and Richard Childress Racing, and now he's currently in Roush Fenway Racing for Jack Roush did not join Henrik, but Rick Hendrick.
But he's been in a lot of race.
He's been a lot of teens.
He's been around the business for two decades now.
Three decades, actually.
2020 tens now 20 twenties.
Um, what happened was there fighting for the lead? Ryan Blaney gets up behind them.
It was, um, on Dhe.
He pretty much he crashed him into the wall.
It's pretty common for lap lap, last lap crash, especially at Daytona.
There's old Daytona, Talladega.
They're known for the big ones.
Um, pretty much he just got turned.
He got turned into the wall, ended up on his side, up in the air, and then number 32 of Cory Lovejoy.
I didn't know where comes 200 miles an hour in to Newman on his driver's side.
No, let me let me tell you.
It wasn't a choice.
Fault wasn't Ryan Blaney's fall wasn't anybody's fault.
It's just race and hard replacing biggest stage of them all.
The Super Bowl of Motor sports Ryan Blaney Starting people win with the upset Hamlets trying when Newman's trying to hold them off.
But it happens, man.
That's happened multiple times.
But I do want to say is let me get into that later Ended up happening was you want to get out of Italy and he ended up.
What I've heard was fourth place.
I don't know if that's confirmed.
He's somewhere in the top 10. He finished.
He ended up finishing the race on his roof, skated all the way past pit road, which finally came to a stop.
Um, pretty much what happened was no word of him.
And from the start, when I saw this crash and I saw the replays, I knew it was not gonna be good.
The atmosphere of the broadcast this time it's so depressing.
Iran reminded me off Dale Earnhardt's death.
I was not a life for it, but I know all about it.
Um, pretty much gotta think of what? I'm gonna help.
I'm gonna explain this.
He I don't know if he was unconscious when he's definitely unconscious at some point.
Boy, everybody was there for him.
Took him about 10 15 minutes to get him out of the car, and he was transport to Halifax Medical Center right outside Daytona International Speedway.
But let me get this straight.
Let me like, let me explain on all every single NASCAR track.
There's an infield care center.
That's where most drivers, that's where almost every driver goes when they're in a crash that's required.
But when you're going to drink to the hospital, not the infield care center, it's bad.
It's not looking good.
NASCAR last time that happened had to have been from my memory.
Erica Merola, 2017 pretty sure at Kansas, broke his back in the car, but Newman fortunate were.
It took everybody lives.
It was just It was awful, man. Trust me.
Um, why, It was awful, horrible looking cross crowd.
The worst crash I've seen in NASCAR history and from my perspective, is the worst.
Um, pretty much we'll make it.
They had to put up screens so that the fans gonna see they kicked the media off pit road.
That's something that does not happen often.
And it was just a bad scene.
I was reading through Twitter like crazy.
It took him over to ours.
Toe finally announce that his syrup or on his condition, I don't blame him for that.
They probably didn't know what was going on.
Nobody knew what was happening except for the doctors in that hospital.
Finally, NASCAR President Steve O'Donnell Ross Finally racing, they announced that Ryan Newman is in serious condition.
However, his life, his injuries are not life threatening.
Thank God, though, and I just want to talk about now.
This hasn't been the worst this has.
He's been in worse for he know that's what the worst crash of Newman's career.
But he's been in Crash a similar, similar, Um, either Talladega 9 4010 I'll get to the 1st 1 Talladega 2009 Newman.
Carl Edwards gets spun by Brad Keselowski for the Wind and he gets into the catch French.
Everybody knows most people know about that, and he lands right on to Newman, right onto his windshield.
Newman's Okay, thank goodness he flips again in Talladega either 104,010 as well as the 2003 Daytona 500 where he lands on his roof as well.
Newman's been on his roof before, but it was a bad, bad crash.
Um, what else am I gonna say? As well as, um, Newmans.
He, even though he was in serious condition and Hewas injuries were not life during, he got a bunch of cuts and bruises, something about blood flow in the brain.
But thankfully, after walking out to get a holding hands, that's just a beautiful that, you know, that may be the worst crash ever in NASCAR.
And I think that's just has us wondering about safety.
I just want to give my opinion on that.
No, I think I think NASCAR has come a long, long, long way from from the previous.
They've made these cars so much safer.
If it was, if they were in the old cars in and have this safety Newman, I think, in my opinion, would have lost his life.
Dale Earnhardt, we all know, was the last driver to pass away during a race that was in the 2000 won Daytona 500.
He did not have his had a neck strap on a k a.
The HANS Device and he and did not have a full face home, and he passed away.
Ironically, Dale Earnhardt was the one that told the media to stop worrying about safety after 2000 New Hampshire, when two drivers Steve Irwin Junior and Adam Penny, both crap passed away in the cars on and after Dale's death and just started everything They got new cars, new safety and there's been didn't look bad, but he still broke his back.
Danica Patrick at the Gatorade duels in 2012 for Daytona, 502 100 miles an hour into the infield wall.
She could have died from that from the impact, but she lived Kyle Busch and the 2015 Xfinity race at Daytona.
The opener he go slamming into the infield wall, breaks both of his legs on Erica.
Merola has I think it was 2017 Kansas.
He broke his back in a horrific crash.
Safety Austin Dillon.
The cash friends incident at Daytona 2015 with the list can go on of all these horrible crashes that drivers that survived.
I just wanna praise NASCAR for saving these drivers from what could have been a very awful, awful time.
Um, in all of these situations, I'm very well, I'm very happy and very ecstatic that Ryan new minister arrived and that he is doing.
And now I can get into what people are saying.
People were upset with Denny Hamlin, who was the winner of the 500 for celebrating afterwards.
But what? I think he was not aware of what was going on.
After the race, you have won the Daytona 500.
Um, same thing happened to Michael Waltrip celebrated in everything in 2001 after Dale Earnhardt passed away.
Um, not knowing.
So it's not these drivers all you can't blame.
These drivers can't blame these crew chief.
No one knows what's going on.
Your team just won the Daytona 500 a crash.
Here's the last thing you're worrying about.
No one knew what was going on except after the fact.
Once I saw that crash and once I saw the atmosphere of the broadcast, I knew something was up.
Um, I'm just very happy that Ryan humanist alive He's one of NASCAR's popular drivers, one of the pioneers of this new generation.
He's him and Jimmy Johnson.
I've pretty much been here, the longest as a driver, and they're slow competing Russia.
Stain is supposed to replaced Newman for now until he is 100 upset. Ready to go.
They will be on Las Vegas this Sunday, but I think it's 3 30 That's my opinion.
I'm what I'm thinking about.
Dealing is possibly raise review, so I could put used to this channel, um, to this account.
Thank you, everybody for watching.
I give my team's all that kind of stuff.
