This is gonna be a fun episode is gonna feel it.
I just hope everybody's ready for this one.
Ladies and gentlemen of SportsCastr Nation, What's up? It is your host of all host.
Is Ah Mario here? Actually, I'm flying solo because as you guys know, if you have been following the channel everything.
Paul and his lovely wife had their child this week.
A big baby, Ben.
So he's not gonna be joining me for the SportsCastr Stream.
So you got me today.
What does that mean? There's gonna be a lot of chaos and mayhem going on today, so I actually, I was actually have to so just exploring a possibility of a draft A trade.
Now I know how much everyone gets insane about this time of year going on.
You know, when the draft is what's gonna happen, what's X Y and Z and everything that's going on? So I just think it's very interesting to see what possible scenarios can play out as faras draft a go.
So I have my notes here at me, notes up on the board and everything.
So I'm gonna try toe I'm screwed.
Try to have some fun today with the stream.
So, uh, that'd be inside.
Thank you for joining us if you're just joining in the chat.
Um, so, Jack, draft day trades.
So we're talking about this.
We're talking about connections titled Connections all the time.
Now, what I tried to explore is that the Buffalo Bills everyone's been talking about, you know, if shack loss and happens to leave, everyone's talking about Trent Murphy.
You save Hughes is gonna be on the books for the Buffalo Bills in in 2020.
So what if the Buffalo Bills were to pull off a blockbuster trade to get defensive end, uh, in losing Shack lawson and whatnot.
So, um, basically, what it is is, uh, everyone likes to talk about certain connections going on with the Buffalo Bills.
And the one connection that really doesn't get brought up too much is the one with Ron Rivera.
Now, if you guys know Robert marriage recently was, you know, hired by the Washington Redskins, who happen to hold the second overall pick in the NFL draft Now the Buffalo Bills.
Um, there they hold the 22nd pick.
So trying to get from the 22nd pick to the second overall pick for a player is gonna be absolutely insane if you go by the previous draft value chart that a lot of teams use as kind of like a reference of certain certain measures of teams.
If you looked at the Buffalo Bills, all of their draft picks don't even amount to the second overall pick.
You know, if you were a bundle them all up as far as the draft value chart is concerned, so what comes in with that is that you have to try to bundle a next year's first round pick.
And basically what I'm saying is, if you haven't figured it out yet, is I'm trying to manipulate it in such a way that the Buffalo Bills trade up to the second overall pick to take Chase Young.
And don't don't turn your TV off yet because this is actually going to be very interesting.
I think you guys are gonna have a lot of fun.
I had a lot of fun looking stuff up to.
So, um, you know, everyone likes to talk about connection in the NFL.
While everyone in Buffalo talks about the connection between the Buffalo Bills in the Carolina Panthers.
As I said before, Ron Rivera and Sean McDermott have a previous relationship, having worked in Carolina together.
Now that Ron is in Washington and McDermott is in Buffalo, it's interesting to see how that dynamic would play out as far as the relationship as faras draft Day goes.
So as far as I'm concerned, and as far as all the reports that have come out that McDermott and Ron have a very good relationship with each other.
So the last good relationship that McDermott had with the coach and happened to manifest on draft day was with, If you remember and you read Bills fans, I know you guys remember Andy Reid.
Remember when we traded away Pat Mahomes and he went to the chief's? Yeah, I remember it, too.
But the thing about it is this.
You're the first time you got a guy who's gonna be at a a new team.
You had an in***bent coach who had a pick in the twenties.
Another coach had a pick up in the top 10 hit up trading in training future first round picks because of the relationship of the players.
Now you know, certain trades that happen on trade on draft day have been very, very interesting.
Also involving this little knucklehead right here.
Now Snyder has probably made some of the most egregious moves during draft day that actually at least recent remember who remembers RG three.
Would you give you give up like 17 picks to the Rams? T get RG three, so he's not even he's not shy about doing certain things like that.
I mean, how else do you explain Alex Smith's contract? I'm, is he? Smith is on the books for the Redskins until, like, 2022.
So the idea of that the Washington Redskins would possibly bring Cam Newton to Washington is probably the biggest farce ever, because if they cut, can't they cut Alex Smith? He's gonna he's gonna be making about 20 million.
And if I were him, I'd be smiling a lot, too.
So that that all being said, the crux of this whole episode is to try to get the Chase Young.
I mean, I'm gonna tell you right now, as Faras Chase youngster is concerned, you can't say a bad thing about this kid now.
True, putting Chase Young on the Redskins would give them this as their front John Allen defensive, and John Allen, who was drafted in 2017 in the first round.
Diran Pain, 2018 In the first round, you would have Chase Young, which would be their 20 21st round pick.
You have Ryan Kerrigan, 2011 1st round pick along with 2018 first round pick Montas Sweat.
Now the Redskins could, in all possibility, the Redskins going on to get back the Bills.
But the Redskins could all possibility take Chase Young and build what the 40 Niners have built in San Francisco with all those first round defensive front seven talents.
They could do that, however.
The Redskins currently have Dominique Rodgers Cromartie after the release of Josh Norman.
You have Dominique Rodgers, Cromartie and Aaron Coleman is your two corners.
Unless you're thinking about getting sacks every down, a 33 year old corner and a 28 year old corner with me, problems is not going to help you.
This is where the Bills come in, you know, about four bills.
You know, I was talking earlier, Um, you know, with the Buffalo Bills, they could go for broke.
Now, if you look at the Washington Redskins, they do have the second overall pick.
But they don't pick again until the third round.
The Buffalo Bills we'll have had.
I mean, I don't have a first round pick and then the second round pick.
It was just a 54th pick. Overall.
They also have to fifth and 3/6.
The Russian rescuers don't even have 1/6 round pick, either.
They have a 1st 1/3 to 4th 5th and 2/7.
True, the Washington Redskins have $53 million of cap space, and they're going to be.
They have 60 players currently under contract, the Buffalo Bills of $81 million in in cap space, and they're gonna have to try to hit the minimum cash back, which is 89%.
They're going to spend roughly around 53 $56 million this offseason.
A lot of people are talking about allocating that for a Mark Cooper.
But for this episode, and as goofy as I'm being today, we're gonna have a little fun with this Will chase Young.
Um, you know, talking about something as far as that I think he's the most impactful player.
Ohio State since Vontae Mack.
You know, I mean, you guys have seen that guy.
He's pretty amazing.
And you know what? Being a McDermott could come up with the with the mind set off, you know it Sze Chase Young.
I mean, they could they could try to throw everything at Washington to try to get up to the second overall pick.
And if you could, I don't think many people have imagined if in the Buffalo area, If you had chase Young on this defense, how impactful wouldn't be putting him across from Jerry Hughes? I think that would be huge.
You still have your, you know, lunch pail, hard hat guy in Trent Murphy.
Recent talks that the fact that the Buffalo Bills to get rid of ham, they would save eight million.
I don't see that happening.
He is a very Sean McDermott Brandon being type of guy.
So how do we propose that the Buffalo Bills could possibly get up to the second overall pick to get Chase Young and threw everything at the wall? Well, you gotta think about this way.
The Buffalo Bills have acquired certain round had two first round picks in 2018 which they took Tremaine Edmonds and Josh Alan.
So in that respect, you have a first round pick that you have to sign in two first round picks that you have to sign in the same year.
So I'm not really sure how that's going to to manifest in and of itself.
I know that they need to.
They need to do something because they're gonna have to sign trade.
White Matte Milano, Dion Dawkins.
A lot of these guys that they have already drafted and being an McDermott's tenure, those those are gonna be guys they're gonna have to.
They're going to sign.
And if you have too many first round picks that you hit on in a row, some of those guys will be left by the wayside.
And you know it's not all first round picks with being a McDermott.
They have been able to find talent in the later rounds.
You talk about Devon Singletary time what Dawson knocks.
These are guys that they're gonna have to sign down the road.
So sacrificing a first round pick for the Buffalo Bills may not be the worst thing.
And now let me just try to make a try, See if I get you, grab you with this.
So the Buffalo Bills with then two things that they're going to do, uh, for the Washington Redskins, they're going to give up their first round pick in the third round pick this year.
All right, in a 2021 1st All right.
They also exercise the franchise tag with with Shaq Lawson, and they also trade Levi Wallace to the Washington Redskins.
Okay, so it's three picks and two players.
Obviously, free agency happens a little bit beforehand out of sea with numbers.
They're gonna be a little bit muddled.
But if you if you take into account, they're going to get an edge rush.
A former first round edge rusher in Shack, Lawson, McDermott could probably talk him up to Rivera.
Hey is an impactful player.
You put him on that line with sweat care again, pain and Alan, he'll fit right in as far as that goes in Washington, and you give them a corner who has played a nut on a very controllable contract.
Mind you just got rid of Josh Norman, you can add a Levi Wallace and you could do pretty well with that.
There's something that you could work with the kids, you know? I mean, so, um, if if McDermott gives the go ahead on a cornerback for Ron Rivera, I'm sure that will be something that that Rama Vera will take into consideration.
Plus, you get in a corner and help out Aaron Colvin and the dinosaur Rodgers Cromartie that you have there in Washington.
So all of those things considered Now, what did the Buffalo Bills get? Well, obviously, the Buffalo Bills will get the second overall pick.
And then, after that, little they'll still have their second round pick in the fourth round pick.
So that is, That is a scenario that what if the Buffalo Bills were, too? Try to just go for broke and try to get Chase Young on the Buffalo pills in an insane draft day trade.
Um, so what that means is that the Buffalo Bills would not have a first round pick in the following year.
So what does that mean In all seriousness? I know a lot of this.
I've been smiling, laughing and joking around, but in all seriousness that the Buffalo Bills were to trade up in the round.
Now, kind of putting aside Chase Young for right now.
The Buffalo Bills were to trade up, uh, and give up a first round pick in the following year.
I'm just saying that just out just that there's a general statement they would have to finish with a pick, lower or higher.
I'm sorry, however you look at it, then they do this year.
So they're the 22nd pick this year.
They would have to know the first round pick next year.
Better be 23 3 32 you know, and I'm praying that it's 32.
So, um, as far as it goes, you look at that. A lot of numbers.
So the Buffalo Bills in wrapping some of this stuff up, they trade a first round pick.
They trade their 22nd pick, the trade, the third round pick in 2020.
They trade the 20 21st 1st round pick the tag and trade Lawson.
They trade Levi Wallace all for the second overall pick and then it picking up cheese Young, which, I mean as Bills fans could you imagine Chase Young on the Buffalo Bills right now? Like the kind of impact that that kid would have here.
I mean, like I said, Chase Young is probably I mean, it's probably a slam dunk at this point.
A lot of things that I'm talking about.
I'm kind of just like dreaming that this would happen.
Uh, but you want to talk about a guy that, like Chase Young, he's going to impact any defense that he comes on.
He's going to be very, very versatile and a lot of things you can do the kids incredibly athletic.
So I guess I was just kind of, you know, messing around and goofing around with this Jeff scenario.
However, if we look at the guy that's manning the controls like I said in Washington, Daniel Snyder, you're talking about Daniel Snyder.
We should go back to Alex Smith.
Let me go back to that because I'm gonna check that out, Okay? Just so you guys get a clear grasp of the kind of guy that Daniel Snyder is and how he signs players where the heck is washed and there's Washington.
So currently on the books for 2020 and that dined in on March 4 13 2018.
Smith side of four year contract extension with the Redskins at the March 16 2080 work with 94 million in new money.
So because Alex Smith was on the team last year by the fifth day of the new league year, his 2020 salary was guaranteed.
So his $16 million based calories guaranteed if they want to get rid of them, they're gonna eat up 32 1,000,000 of their $56 million cap Now, obviously think appropriated over a couple years.
But, I mean, they really until 2022 they can't get rid of him.
And even when they get rid of him in 2022 if they want to cut him, it's a $5.
4 million dead money bond.
They're gonna be saving 21 however, but this is the guy.
So you don't think that offering him a few trades and if his head coach happens to say, Hey, yeah, I know McDermott.
I relationship with him.
Things were fine.
We're you know, we're gonna be good.
You don't think offering that the guy would Would would pan out.
This guy do $94 million extension.
Okay, Snyder, this is gonna be beautiful.
Watch, however, I mean, honestly, this is just this is just a one of those wacky scenarios that comes out during draft time.
I mean, what if it manifested what I'd be extremely happy? Yeah.
You're giving up a lot of resource is for Chase Young, but I think Jason warns it.
Ah, lot of resource is, however, um, if you want to talk about certain things that happened, how crazy this narrows our draft, I really think the Washington Redskins are probably gonna go with Chase Young and they're gonna take him.
And they're gonna probably have one of the most dominant front sevens and in the NFL.
But their secondary is seriously lacking, especially with the release of just moment.
But then, if you if you circle it around, um I mean, they do.
We have got to stop, uh, Elliott Barkley in the division.
So, having seven first round front guys, but a ce faras the Buffalo Bills go in this scenario, circling around to them they, I believe, are probably gonna stay pat at 22 unless someone blows the doors off with more pics.
I mean, like I said, the Buffalo Bills have the They have the one pick and eat in rounds one through four and the name to in the fifth round, three in the sixth.
So, uh, you know Paul night when we like to talk about things on the broadcast, like to say, OK, if you have, too, and one round, you essentially have around in front of you most of the time.
When being a McDermott make those moves, they happen to bundle up a pick or two in the previous round again in in the in the round ahead of them.
So if they have to have sixth round picks, they actually have 1/5 round pick.
If they have to fifth round picks, they actually have 1/4 round pick.
Most of the times that will work because a lot of these teams that air cap strapped, they just want bodies in camp.
And the rookie deals are the most controllable deals that the teams will have.
So, having all that said, the Buffalo Bills may trade and try to get back up into the third round because the key for trading up in the third round versus trading up in the fourth round is the fact that the conditional third round picks are there.
So if you go into the third round your before all those conditional pics happen, so though it pushes the fourth round picks down the line a little bit.
So in that respect Ah, the scenario that I propose as insane as it is, is the Buffalo Bills trade there.
The 22nd overall pick in 2020? They're 86th overall, pick in 2020.
They trade a first round next year.
They, um they sign Lawson and the sign and trade Lawson, and they trade Levi Wallace to the Redskins for the second overall pick, which is in an insane deal.
I don't know if McDermott and being ah are thinking down those lines.
I know it's an insane scenario.
I'm self admitting the fact that it's crazy in, you know, a lunatic deal, but this is the type of thing that happens when draft time comes around.
I'm sure you guys are gonna hear a lot of these stupid scenarios as we go on.
But you know, it's fun. It's fun.
The hat is fun to talk about.
It's fun to kind of playroom with numbers and stuff like that.
So if you look at it from both sides, they have a connection with Rivera.
McDermott's a connection with Rivera.
They do need an edge rusher, Um, and they have the cap space to do it.
Currently, the Washington Redskins have $53 million under the cap, and they have 60 players under contract, so they're good.
But Buffalo Bills are even in better shape than $81 million under the cap in the 53 players on the contract.
So this is not about two teams that are strapped that have to make this deal.
I was just putting this scenario out because I thought it was fun and interesting, and I hope you guys enjoyed it and hope you join us next Saturday for the seventh installment of our what if segment.
What if Part six is going to be the Bills actually trading up to Dr Chase Young, which is just insane? So once again, thanks for riding and we'll see you guys next week
