Hello? No, this is our halftime.
So show of Super Bowl 54.
Ah, by virtue of a terrible, terrible end of the half offensive pass interference call against the 40 Niners, which should have set up the 40 Niners with an opportunity to take the three point lead heading into half and to get the ball back, Um, Brandon real quick.
I mean, we got about 10 15 minutes here while the awful halftime show goes on.
Ah, what is your biggest impression? Biggest takeaway from this first half so far.
I think it's the chief's defense hanging around with this running game.
That 49 transfer five.
And personally, I think they're able to limit Monster like he's he's had a He's a couple big runs, but nothing big that like a pair of the Green Bay game.
And that's kind of the biggest factor.
They're trying to put the game on Jimmy Garoppolo shoulders like Chris Jones. Seven.
Give me if they're gonna lose.
They better lose because of Jimmy Garoppolo, because no offense, they have that mindset.
Garoppolo doesn't have that it factor right now.
Well, he looked like he had that It It's Dr on that last throw.
That was a beautiful throw.
Uh, at the end of the half, I know it didn't count, but we give Patrick Mahomes credit for things that don't count.
So I'm gonna give Jimmy Garoppolo credit because that was one hell of a throw in it.
And it further is the one thing you could say about Jimmy that again you, for all the things that you know, the mistakes that he does make or can make.
He usually rebounds incredibly well.
And we saw that, uh, right away.
And you know, if there's a silver lining for, you know, 40 Niners fans out there, then it's that, you know, he got that interception out of the way.
And And, look, you know, if I'm going to say who has the momentum going into half, I got to say it's the 40 Niners right now, because again, I completely agree with you, which I don't think I like the way I saw this happening, and I I saw this playing out a little bit differently.
I thought the 40 Niners, we're gonna get off to a hot start.
So when Kansas City you know, kind of stuck around was like, Okay, maybe I misjudged this game, but this is playing out a little bit differently.
Where, you know, if you would have told me he was 10 10 going into the half before the game, I would have probably said advantage, Kansas City because I feel like San Francisco needed to get out big.
But I I feel like again the momentum is all in their corner and And look, it's okay to say it, folks, I know the national people out there won't say it.
A lot of people are just program to to overreact to everything that he does.
But Patrick Mahoney's has been just okay, Um, I know people wanted to get all excited about that run, and it was great.
They took a hit, but that was really a dumb play.
He was carelessly running towards the end zone.
He was lucky that ball didn't land in bounds because again, that was a poor decision on his part, eh? Not to go down and be that he almost lost the ball in an opportunity for this team to score.
So between several off target throws and basically all I've really seen out of them is being able to hit wide open receivers.
He's having an okay game it Sze okay, to admit which again, heading into this, if you were to say that him and Jimmy Garoppolo are pretty much neck and neck, you know, safer that interception, I'd be pretty surprised again.
I'm pretty shocked.
Ah, where we're at right now in a pretty good game.
Yeah, So you kind of brought it all the homes.
Isn't that bring out the electrifying type of play that usually does.
But then again, here comes the second half, you know, and this is where the big moments happens.
But she was being such a little scoring game And how a lot of people thought there's gonna be a very back and forth with each team going taking a field or get to the end zone.
I think this is where you're going to see the defining moments of who wants it more.
Is it gonna be Karabell or is gonna be homes? Why? I think that the four years I've been very wealth is limiting the weapons.
That's that's what I said this morning on the broadcast earlier, earlier today you limit the weapons and the homes can't do a whole bunch.
Right now he's I could certainly that the extractor, the chief's office, Daniel Williams is doing pretty well.
But he's not the type of guy that's gonna carry you to a Lombardi Trophy so that she is offense.
Gonna have to come up with a big time strategy to get past.
Yeah, And then that's kind of like I said, I like you said we talked about this morning on this show.
Uh, Travis Kelsey, Where has he been? I mean, I saw I saw him get blown up in an attempt to block earlier that he was lucky that, you know, the ball got get out of my home's his hand, but, um, he's really been non existent.
I said in this game, like you have to, you have to get him involved and get him making an impact, because here's the thing.
I thought the 40 Niners coverage was just okay to start that game.
I thought they tightened up there at the last couple drives, but I thought it was just okay.
I mean, we saw Sammy walk in somehow is was wide open on our very own a duck throw.
I mean, that thing just floated up there for what felt like two minutes and he was still wide open.
And the coverage has been, you know, again.
So So it's tightened up a little bit, which again this is a situation where in the past I feel like this Chiefsoffense would have taken advantage of it and they didn't which again speaks to this idea that the Mo Mentum is clearly, in my opinion in the 40 Niners favor, especially getting the ball at half.
And I think that was part of the conservatively.
So obviously they did get the ball back before the half.
But did you agree with Kyle Shanahan not taking a time out after the cheese possession? Personally, I kind of did.
I don't think the thing about Shan and is part of me still things that they're still haunting moments from Super Bowl 51.
I think he's trying to be a little more safe and I think because the chief's personally, I think the Chiefs have provided a little bit more of a threat right now with Patriots Dude landed back them.
Yeah, based on what I've seen so far.
So I think he's trying to, like, not make the same mistakes and tryingto get fancy with it.
Is Eric Fisher hold? My gosh, You better hope this second after bypassing if both his phone and half plus our house, like also it is getting in there, you know he hasn't got the big doesn't the big stats, Another big tackles.
But if you pull it if you clearly walked over 72 Eric Fisher wrote against 97 Nick Posts, you can clearly tell who the better players and this is where they're gonna have to kind of come up with something different to get both out of the gate.
Yeah, because I mean the you hit the nail on it, he's not popping off.
He hasn't had that sack yet, but it's coming.
You have a feeling that it's coming, and as soon as it starts toe, you know, work for the 40 Niners.
I think that's when the floodgates open up a little bit.
Um what? I have liked them.
Just get three points at the end of half.
I mean, obviously Any time you go up against the Chiefs, you want to get as many points as you want.
I I'm I'm indifferent about.
That's a non timeout.
Let's you know, it could have gone either way.
I think, you know, look, you had three timeouts in your pocket and I do think sometimes situations call for I think the three time outs are far more valuable than an extra 30 seconds.
And I think in this case, that was the case because, you know, say they didn't convert that long.
O r That third down play before the big play that got called back.
Ah, all of a sudden you call a time out.
The Chiefs have just about almost close to two minutes to work with.
And now you know, again, it's about time management.
So I I don't mind the call if not calling a time out there.
Um, I like I said, I think the biggest thing that could come back is revisiting that offense.
It pass interference call because I again I just regardless of what you feel about the play, I mean, it's just you can't call that in that situation.
That seems like a reach you. No pun intended.
I guess, um, for for the officials to make that call, so I don't know.
I well see, I do.
Like what? Um I do like what the 40 Niner started to get going on offense.
Debo Samuel has been involved.
Sanders has been relatively quiet.
Like I said, I mean, big catch, you know, quote unquote catch there at the end of the half.
But, you know, I I still think Jimmy Garoppolo is gonna have to show up just a little bit more.
I think he's played really well so far.
All be, aside from that pick, that was a bad pick on this part you can't like.
You can't make that mistake.
But again, like we said before, he makes these mistakes and then somehow is perfect the rest of the way.
So So for lining, it's 10 10 into the half.
Um, it's I would say, Like I said, I'm feeling pretty good about Jimmy G.
And and regardless of whether or not that past was technically complete, that was a hell of a throw.
And in a real high pressure situation, especially after a bad interception before.
So, uh, going into the second half What, um, who do you think he's got to step up for the chief's? Well, first, we'll start with the Chiefs.
Who do you think's got to step up for the Chiefs to take control of this game back? And then I'll ask you about the 40 Niners Sena's how what history has proven and you read.
I think this is gonna be the final for any real you know, this history of him, not mention the time well.
And you know what, a tight 10 10 with arguably the best defensive little beaker was showing it today.
Who is still coming after your quarterback.
This is where we needs to step up and show that he came out coming.
Those odds like a son as writers, we like to call him that, and I also used to come down weapons.
You know, you've got to get hell Hardman Robinson, Kelsey gotta get Travis Kelsey and have somehow, some way.
He's not a blocking tight and utilize him, Get in the middle of the field.
You got to get those crucial first out.
You don't have to get 20 are each play get 5 to 6 years in the past and you can drive down to escape.
Beautiful ranch sport is that? Get that pass rush playing honest a little bit because again, if if they're not worried about Travis Kelsey up the middle, they're just gonna be going downhill every single play, like they're not gonna have to worry about him picking up big chunk yardage.
I mean, they'll live and die with Tyree killed, picking up a few big gains.
Think they can deal with that? But if Travis Kelsey has not existed in the second half, the Chiefs aren't winning this game.
And then go on, Go on the 40 Niners, I'm gonna say, Jimmy Graham, I need to see that, in fact, that this is the time to make me shut up.
And this life I wanted to do up like I need to see it and it's the man who's gonna win this game.
It's gotta be because of Garoppolo, the guy that's the most If I'm wrong or right, he's the most expensive player on that team.
Get him to make you win the big prize.
Jimmy Garoppolo Mercy.
Can you read in the situation and grow quickly.
Depot, Samuel, you met You mentioned him.
He made the smartest play that I've ever seen and was the refers to our land of all to be received.
And he and I kept it because no offense, because that'll make carob lower.
Either got cream for that could have been picked off.
It was because he kept it and picked up first.
I thought it was a very, very small Well, I know in three point because I soon as you started talking, I know exactly what you're doing.
I was like, Yes, because again, that's a play that, like sometimes like in the moment you like, I have to make a play.
I have to make a play he saw tucked the ball and he ran because he realized, Look, you only needed pick up a few yards Like if the play doesn't work, it doesn't work as long as you, you know, move forward and not just throw up.
Ah, prayer of a pass and and the whole time that was happening.
If you watched the show this morning, some of some of the host on the show includes picked ah pass by, uh, specifically depot Samuel.
So I was like, Oh, there no.
Still get still, only two.
So, so far, I'm winning that one.
Um, I like your aunt's about Andy Reid when it comes to the Chiefs.
Uh, you know, at the end of day, it's about the players on the field to me, Patrick Mahomes.
He's got to step up.
I mean again, for for all I'm being I'm being incredibly harsh on him.
And again, that's it is what it is.
But for all the praise that's heaped on him for everything that he does and you know how smart Bilbo blah this, that and the other, he's gotta step up because so far I see a kid that's yes, very talented, but where? Yeah, exactly.
Like I need to see more than just completing passes to wide open receivers like, I mean, they they have a pretty what pattern patterned offense where it's, you know, these little draw either play action.
R P o plays where, you know, you rely on getting that little bit of separation and you get wide open receivers.
What happens when these guys are getting locked up and you need to make that big throw um, not only have we have yet to see that his throws anywhere beyond that, like Comfort Zone has been a little off, and not just beyond that comfort zone, but even within that comfort zone a time.
So, um, Kansas City has to be Patrick Holmes if if he's this, you know? Ah, virtuoso type player.
This Ah, you know about you know, the special talent that he is.
He has to step up in this moment.
There's no excuse for it for anything.
I don't care what it is.
And for Kansas City, I agree, are for San Francisco.
I agree with you.
It's Jimmy Garoppolo.
Right now. It's gonna come down to the two quarterbacks.
The defense of defense's has have played pretty well for both sides.
I give the advantage to 40 Niners.
The offenses have been pretty well, doing pretty well in terms of moving the ball efficiently.
Jimmy Garoppolo is gonna take it up that one extra notch, and so far he's slowly climbing those steps.
Like I said, I think that non catch and pass a cz Muchas it was a non catching pass was a big non catching pass because again they know that they caught that.
They know that that connection was there.
And I guarantee you they're going to try that again at some point in this game, and it's probably gonna work.
So for me, both quarterbacks got to step it up because you're a tie game with 2/4 left, the most important player on the field, no matter what is the quarterback.
And that's the thing.
You know, we're we're so used to see Jimmy Garak will be more like a plague of managing quarterback willing, you know, like one who just spent the system and does what needs to be done.
And Reese, we're used to seeing the homes, making those home run plays and these three or four times each quarter and neither that is happening.
So I think whoever the first War like is to strike first, that's gonna be the one that's gonna set the momentum for the opposing one.
And that's where I think that grapple can take advantage of it, especially that under start out the ball first.
I think I think if on the Niners I'm coming out up there on a big quiet, I think thought off electrifying.
Yeah, and I agree with the 100% I think I think the Niners, they're going to get that first opportunity.
And like I said, I wouldn't be surprised if they throw in a variation of that play that they just missed on with Kelsey.
Because again, it's there.
You can argue that he made a little bit of contact, But I think regardless of that contact that that play was there to be made and I think Kittle would have ah would have made it.
So, uh, thanks, folks, for turning.
This is a quick 20 minute session, you know, kind of recap what we saw in the first half.
The second half, Just about to kick off.
I'm sure I haven't been paying attention, but, ah, we will be back at the end of the game to break it all down.
And ah, real quick.
Brandon, do you have a last opportunity? Do you want to walk back your prediction? Do you want to switch to a 1 80 before we start the second half? Well, after thinking, uh, momentarily, I would like to say no deal.
Kansas City wins. Okay.
All right, We'll see.
Well, we'll revisit this at another time, folks.
Thank you very much again. Tune in.
Right after the game. We're gonna be back breaking it all down.
Have a great day. Enjoy the second half, folks.
