How's it going, everyone? Thanks for hopping into my extreme.
We're talking about Thea Untimely death of Kobe Bryant and his daughter, Judy Bryant, and seven other individuals of the pilot and two other families that were traveling with Kobe and his daughter to their travel basketball game.
Um, I usually take the first couple of minutes to let people hop in the stream, So now that it's kind of gotten some time to hop in, I'm just gonna start.
Obviously, the Lakers play the Clippers tomorrow, which will be an emotional, emotional game.
I imagine it's gonna be one that's very widely viewed around the N B A.
For a number of reasons.
Not only the Lakers and Clippers, the two best teams in the N.
In my opinion, a lot.
People's opinion bucks.
Fact on there, too.
But two Devils, two best teams in the West going off.
And then you have the untimely passing of Kobe Bryant of in his home in Calabasas, which are near his home in Calabasas, which is about 15 minutes away from where I'm currently doing my stream.
For those of you who aren't part of unwraps words, network or our don't know very much about me.
I was born in 95 in Southern California.
Very close, you know, to where Staples Center is very close in time to when Kobe Bryant became a Laker.
So growing up my whole life, I was a Kobe Bryant fan.
I was pretty good at basketball, not anything to rave about.
I, like, barely made my high school team, but I played Division one football.
I was starting offensive lineman and taking the mama mentality.
That Dr Channeling into football was something that I definitely tried to do try to emulate my whole life.
It's the same kind of story for a lot of people.
Even Joe Borough had chimed in on Twitter and said that he grew up very similar story. Eyes.
You're younger than me.
Uh, very so much growing up watching Kobe play, obviously, in Ohio, you know, you're kind of fortune enoughto watch it right before your bedtime.
When you're a kid, when you're in L.
You know, there's a lot of nights where I'm a parent for dragging me by the back of my neck.
I have to go to bed.
You know what Lakers going on overtime or it's one of the later start games that you know.
It's time for me to go to bed with him like it.
Preschool Elementary and the Coke is going off against the Dallas Mavericks.
And sometimes, you know, I'd be on this day of watch.
My mom was really paying too much attention to my dad.
Is that you? Hey, come sit next to me.
Um, but growing up the Laker fan, Kobe Waas, the used the epitome, you know, basketball was my first love.
Even though, you know, my body kind of told me football was the route that was gonna gonna, you know, pay for your college basketball was just It still is the sport that I love playing love watching the most.
And yesterday, being a Sunday, I was out in the balance that very close to where this had actually happened.
I did see some, like helicopters in the air in the morning, which necessarily isn't always, you know, a cause for alarm.
There's Ventura Port wine evening, where this military bases nearby San Diego, two hours to the south by car.
So, you know, sometimes there just happens to be aircraft in the air.
But realizing that that was because of code Bryant, the news helicopters just putting it all together.
Obviously, I at the time I didn't realize it, But you're getting text messages.
And then following Twitter very close after offs teams he was broken before the Bryants.
Vanessa Bryant even knew, Um, it's just such a surreal day.
And I wanted to do a SportsCastr yesterday talking about the Pro Bowl.
I couldn't even really watch the Pro Bowl because that was right, literally right when it was happening.
I know that the, um, the seaside did a little our side.
The NFC cited a little shout out to Kobe Bryant Little I caught a little celebration for him, but just such a surreal day yesterday it's your weekend days.
Those days you enjoy and you have often it just went by like that, you know, I was I was beside myself.
I mean, Toby, but the families that you know aren't the Bryants that is very sad.
Any time anyone loses their life, when Kobe Bryant lose his life, a mega superstar that a lot of people grew up with idolizing until effect, he also lost his daughter in the fact that just, you know, I definitely beside myself.
I was crying, running off all day.
It's sad, you know.
Then I understand if you're not a sports fan and it doesn't quite, you know the way you're kind of idolized celebrities.
I understand if it looks a little weird to the outside, if you're not a sports fan as to why, like this might be so sad.
But if regardless of you take the basketball side of that, you take everything else inside of it.
A wife with three daughters and one of them a new board, lost her husband and her daughter, friends of the family, other family.
One thing was completely wiped out because of this husband, daughter, two daughters and the wife.
It's just unthinkable.
I came wrapped my head around when things like this happened, it's It's beyond tragic.
It's supply one of the worst.
I mean, I was talking my girlfriend last night.
I'm trying to think in my head, you know, I was not trying to compare tragedies, but, you know, I wasn't alive.
When the Marshal Whole Marshall football team passed away.
Almost the team passed away in that plane crash.
But that's the only thing I could think of in terms of sports.
Tragedy of the hockey team is well, couple of years ago, I think was a bus crash on Humble.
I want to say I don't disrespecting anyone, but I think that is the team, those kind of things that really shows you how much bigger, bigger it is in sports because even casual fans are non casual fans.
When there's a loss of human life like that, it's it, you know there's It makes you take a pause in your day, regardless of whether you're at whatever you're doing, you know, it just hits you.
You hit it growing up in Los Angeles, that's it hits a lot of us here really, really hard.
I've seen even people who were Boston Celtics fans who were balling you know it.
That's all people saying.
You know, I didn't expect Kobe Bryant to break my heart one more time.
You know, Boston Celtics fan that that religious, uh, I'm getting choked up right now, but just just a really hard day.
Know anyone to who's lost a parent lost a sibling to as you know I lost my mother a couple years ago.
It is hard when it's when it's out of nowhere and it's it's different.
It's when when you know it's coming and you don't know it's coming. It's a different type of pain.
They both hurt at incredible amounts.
You know, whether you know someone's going to pass away or if it just happened suddenly.
But you know, when it happened, suddenly it's such a vacuum in your life that it just really sucks the energy out of you and you put the scope of things together.
Yes, they're traveling to his daughter's basketball game.
He is not only mentoring people in the NFL, the mentoring his daughter on how to be a civil in basketball, how to be, um, you know, grow up in the game of fanatic how he did, you know, just pure excellence in last night with, you know, LeBron James passing him and all time points scored in Philly, which is where Kobe Bryant played high school basketball lower Marion High School just the night after, you know it so, so surreal that the timing of everything I know life is just tragic, like that.
You know, there's weird.
It's called synchronicity is weird things that just a lie.
And, you know, you have Trey Young wearing number eight last night, shooting 24 shots, scoring 45 points.
And then you have Devon Bucker, Devin Booker for the sons.
Who also is that Kobe disciple, um, shooting 24 shots, scoring 36 points together.
45 36 81 points.
I know a lot of times numbers You can, you know, kind of look into things too much, but I think just the 24 shots the tray young wearing number eight, their relevance and admiration for Kobe Bryant and the numbers just coming together to make the 81 points is just It's scary, you know? It's, you know, I'm not gonna debate religion, but whether it definitely makes you feel like they're there that like that he is with, you know, Trey Young said he felt Kobe Bryant with him.
You know, I definitely feel like he he was.
He was channeling his inner inner mama for sure.
A lot of players last night were I mean, Tyson Chandler, who was beside himself.
He didn't even play and he doesn't really get many minutes for the Rockets, but you know, just completely fighting his emotions through just being there for his team.
Trey Young and Devin Booker.
Who? Who? You know, I saw the whole argument yesterday.
Should you cancel the N B A game, should you not cancel the N B A games? You know, I'm not here to debate that.
I think Kobe May probably wanted people to play through, you know, show that mama mentality and definitely true.
Young and Devin Booker did an amazing job doing that last night.
They they made him very proud.
Um, looking down.
I know there's a lot of people and we'll talk about the Lakers versus Clippers and a little bit.
I think this game I'm not saying that Clippers should or will roll over, but I think LeBron James, you know, first of all, I hope he the NB allows him to wear 24 just for this game.
Come out, Let him where you know, even if it says LeBron on the back.
But let him come out.
I hope that we're just 24 right on the back and let him just come in.
You know, kind like 80 did with ****y cousins in the All Star Game.
But just let LeBron come out there and I guarantee he's gonna put up watching out of 81 points.
Watch LeBron going to mission, you know, tomorrow night and just literally wit like, you know, like Kobe's last game. He put up 60.
Just go out for me because one, your emotions air just at an all time high, too.
It's in Los Angeles versus our Let's call it our Lex Luther right now.
And two, you have Jerry Enemy Sorry, Jerry West over there kind of attributing to that, that villain, you know, outside of the whole Kobe incidents.
But, you know, it's true.
The first came out for this.
This has happened.
I really want you know, LeBron and come out there and really send a message that this this Cirino obviously I want the Lakers to win every year.
But when tragedy happens, I mean, we also lost Nipsey Hustle this year, too.
I think this is a team of destiny Now We got to channel all the bad stuff, all the negative, all the although her and really go out there and win a championship.
You should Obviously your goal should be to win a championship all the time.
But it just is scary when something like this happens and it root something clicks, you know, like Kalle Kuzma.
I'm not gonna take the opportunity to take shots at him right now, But this would be the type of event where a young gentleman who has a tremendous amount of talent just turns the light on in his head and goes, Hey, you know what? The city is hurting.
They lost someone.
Let me pull my head out of my ass and let me let me figure this out.
What? Kobe Bryant bodies is the wake up at 4 a.m.
The grind two hours after everyone's gonna practice.
You know, I not say the Lakers don't or do do that already, but it's time for them to channel like, really get back to what made the Lakers champions.
And let's let's just get back on that grind like KCP, who has paid his game up tremendously since these social media, you know, kind of getting on him.
But Cal Koosman, you know we're gonna lascivious trade or not, you're in L.
You're a Laker Laker for life.
You've definitely done a lot for us in the transition years of, you know, not only if you get traded you definitely help this gain assets for you and in the past.
But I think there's definitely good chance that Cal Kuzma shows us the potential that he has not only plays as efficiently as he did his rookie year, But progress is beyond those numbers.
I mean this this is the type of thing.
You know it as someone who is who's experienced, great loss, that it comes at a tipping point.
When that happens, you know, Either go one where you go the other.
You know, you heard and you start.
You know, I'm kind of getting in your own head and you know which depression Israel, And if you are experiencing that, you should get help.
But some people and sometimes and I've experienced this too, you know, you just kind of double down on that hurt, and it's just a vicious cycle.
And then sometimes when you experience this massive pain, it serves as a beacon of hope.
In a sense that, you know, this person's gone like I'm going to improve for that person.
I'm going to the body, do what that person would really want me to do and put in the work and be a better version of myself.
Because if someone loves you or you love someone else like the most simplest, most simple thing you can do toe honor that person.
To show respect to that person is to be the best version of yourself and to spread that and spread that positivity to other people.
Because there's so much as a regular person you can change.
Amazing athletic talent, amazing ability to not only change the game after, you know, being a basketball player, but even when he was those last couple of years really was just a father.
You know, Colvin is the emissary to arrest the N B A.
You know, as as a pro and then as the eggs.
As you retired, open up, the mom backhanded me, start coaching his daughter started writing and investing You, the mom, a brand, you know he's not playing, you know, I feel like they're they're peril, and all their designs and stuff have gone even better after he's retired, you know, obviously, is not designing those things specifically, but you know, just the energy and getting the right people in there.
I believe that that directly is a responses is directly because of Kobe's energy.
Getting back into his business is being an MBA player, especially when his body was like that.
I can only imagine how much time he had to divert to getting his body just par and then being able to train.
And then the only doing his business is on top of that.
Now he's done with basketball.
He just gets himself, got himself to a point that he was okay with, and then you just took his businesses.
So far, there's so many things that we can applaud him for.
You know, he was human.
We have the has made mistakes.
We've all made mistakes.
But thief cities hurting.
And I don't know how the next few days you're gonna unfold.
Obviously, with Nipsey Hustle, there was the whole city wide funeral.
I don't know what's gonna happen with this.
I mean, their family is spinning right now, Like as anyone can probably imagine, that kind of loss does happen I apologize, guys.
My Nord Security Keep wanting me.
Thio renew and you understand.
Look at sketchy stuff, but just prayers up to all the families involved, the families of the pilots, the one's family members who aren't talked about as much the other families.
And, you know, Judy Bryant to go on.
You talk about her for a little bit.
For all intents and purposes in just 13 years old, it's really hard before task.
Not only would she want to be a professional basketball player at other points in her life, but would cheat on her body kind of developed into that basketball player.
You know, you, just off growing, wasn't able to play in the WNBA.
But I think, as we've seen with her drive all the things she said that Kobe has said, How good are the film of her does dicing up other girls her age? I really think that we were robbed two of DJ Bryant and, you know, bringing that swagger back to the W N.
A. You know, when Lisa Leslie was here, I thought Britain grinder.
We know when he she came Sorry when she came into the w N b A.
I thought that she dunking and being, you know, kind of five power forward for the W N B A.
You know, I thought she could kind of bring, you know, some more about that height back W w N b A that has the missing over the past couple of years.
Brian being at 13.
You're talking, you know, Six said, I don't know what WNBA to declare, You know, I don't know if it's three years I couldn't tell you, but, you know, little estate seven years from now, there was someone waiting in the rafters that, you know, not only had the money mom and brand because she was Kobe's daughter, but if you look the film she was turning into a beast, I think that she could have been one of the all time great w N b A players if she kept on track not only because of the Linnean true, because she just fully embraced wanting to be the next in line.
I saw a clip of one of his Jimmy Kimmel live, but Kobe was talking on there, and he said that you know, another quarter was talking to him saying, Oh, no four girls like don't you want to have a boy and don't try to avoid it? Carry on your legacy.
And I guess I G was in the room or something and said, you know, No, that's me.
Like I'm the one who's gonna carry on the legacy like he doesn't even have a boy like that's gonna be it's gonna be me and you know that that really just poof.
That's the extra heart.
I mean, I mean, she definitely had, like, the drive of her dad.
You can tell, um, that she she definitely body like what he was about off the court, in the weight room, like all that kind of stuff.
And like I said with her highlight tapes and how serious issues taking basketball, man, who's just say she wasn't gonna be, you know, the next Diane atrocity? Or, you know, the first Judy Bryant, you know, and beyond what Kobe was gonna continue to offer us off the court, you know, we were definitely robbed of heard her other teammates.
You know, the beautiful lives and accomplishments that they were probably going to give us.
It's just a sad tragedy, man, It's really sucks.
Sorry, I kind of went on tinder there for a little bit.
Me when Kobe past? Yes, I definitely was.
You know, Sad owes those crying.
But when the news of the Hughes with his daughter, um, I don't wanna just made it so much more sad there their bond together was honestly, you know, there's the clip that went viral of him, you know, like explaining to his daughter, the intern, out of the games.
And it went viral a couple weeks ago.
And now that's no use in terms of social media.
That's one of the last, like things will ever get from the two of them together in such a sweet moment that, you know, we all which, you know, it was taken and great fun of the time.
You know, all of them, you know, me, trying to explain to my parents, you know, like how a multiplayer game and online works or something like that, You know, something stupid.
And now it's just such a I just had such a different feel to it.
And I mean, two angels definitely like watching down on us now.
So, uh, got to side with this and I'm going to cap this right 1/2 an hour.
Speak out of eight minutes left.
So I want to dedicate the last part talking about the Lakers versus the Clippers game I would like.
I mean, I don't think the tickets for those would be crazy.
Expensive, So I mean, I'm definitely look, see if there's any way I can squeeze on my way in there.
But I just imagine, like Kobe's retirement game, this is just gonna be something for the people who knew him honestly, Like in a way.
Obviously, Kobe is not there.
But whoever comes to this game the Snoop Dog, No Jack Nicholson, the people who really came to every Laker game and were the real fans of Kobe Bryant family members, you know, maybe maybe well, too soon for Vanessa and the family.
You know, toe come to a Laker game and I understand if it's not the season next season, I'll never know because the memories really do hurt.
But, you know, I think this next game it's going to be personal.
It's personal. Like I said before, for many reasons.
They're playing the Clippers.
Clippers have got them twice.
I don't think Paul George is gonna play this game, but if he's anywhere near being ready to play, I think it's going to be.
He's gonna play this game sending with 80.
When they played because the Rockets couple weeks ago, you know, he tried everything he could do to play.
It's been one of those situations, but I really hope and pray and I will be obviously rooting for the Lakers.
A grownup Laker fan, but this game is gonna be so personal, it's gonna be so much emotion.
I am gonna block everything in my day out to be able to watch this game just like I did for Kobe's retirement.
Because I know I'm gonna laugh.
I know I'm gonna cry.
I know it's gonna be a lot of emotions altogether.
Washington's game just like when I mean, I be Honestly, I definitely cried during his retirement. I cheered.
I screamed, You know, like it was that was an all time great Kobe moment.
And like my young adulthood, uh, you know, I was in Louisiana. I remember.
I was, uh, you know, I was on scholarship, but I had No, not not very much money.
Didn't really wanna too proud to ask my parents for money, you know, absolutely.
Laying on a mattress on the floor, watching this on Reddit, stealing it because I didn't have cable and, you know, just just remembering, you know, him turning it all in and dropping 60.
And just how how much energy in L. A.
You know, obviously that season was awash in the sense that we needed the draft picks.
I think that's the year.
Modesty blanking right now, I think we have got lots of all because of that ****ty season.
I just think that game was gonna have this upcoming game with the Clippers is gonna have that same energy, maybe an obviously not that same exact energy, but that same level of energy where you know this is a regular season game.
But there's just so much more that goes along with this game outside of other games, that it's just a lot and non basketball fans, obviously, at the NBA's viewership whatever.
I don't care if it's up or down here, but if you're non basketball fan you.
This is a game that, like everyone, should watch.
I mean, obviously don't have to watch every single up and down the court.
But, you know, this is gonna be this game like it's gonna be something special and obviously the Lakers PR and all those people that do such a great job, you know, every other day doing doing there.
You know, Social media, all the great stuff, putting together the videos, that's gonna be its own thing.
It's gonna be they always do.
Such a great job with the Kobe Group gave us so many great moments.
I mean, the 81 point game I like.
I specifically remember that as a kid, I said those nights, right, how to stay up? We went to a Laker game.
So my dad was a pharmaceutical sales rep back in the day.
It's like back in the day for people who don't know, like pharmaceutical sales reps, They could just give doctors they could just, like, take the mountain shoes them.
And now it's like, totally illegal, like back in the day, like my dad, and would take, like, doctors, families out like take us out to with them, you know, like network and whatnot, and I got to see so many great Laker games like, I'll get stitched like shack jerseys stitch like Kobe jerseys like and I grow him.
And, you know, I just got a new one because they give it away as gifts and stuff like that. Like Crystal.
That's a whole separate discussion about that kind of schmoozing.
But that was like my introduction into the world.
I mean, yes, I love playing basketball.
Both my sisters were amazing.
We're both amazing high school, you know, All conference more money league.
That's I'm looking for my own tolerance for a second were amazing.
Romani, elite basketball players.
And, you know, I was the youngest of the three.
And so I was able to come up well, yes, I did not match my sisters in basketball.
I didn't get better accolades than them in football.
So we're seeing the sisters.
Yeah, yeah, but to grow up, you know, playing like I wanted to be Kobe Bryant.
I was fat, and I like my game.
I had Step Axe and I shot, you know, mid range and three pointers as, like, a one point I was playing basketball in because I was doing high school football the same time I was 64 house, £330 shooting three pointers, having my coach scream at me and bench me even though they were going in because, you know, I was a five and we kind of ran, you know, sometimes I would try it on the court.
And, you know, sometimes people wouldn't contest me right the right top of the key.
So just get it and shoot it.
And I was like, That was my Kobe Bryant moments because, you know, my my coaches wanted me to be shocking, you know, with having the football body and the power from football.
Yes, I was pretty good at center, you know, those top end guys who were like 69 just pack my ****.
And I didn't want to play center because they hurt so much taller than me.
I thought I'd be able to score and they would just blocked my **** against backward.
But, you know, I always wanted to be a guard, and my eating habits and my body type just told me that I needed to be a center, if not just switched sports completely, which is what I ended up doing have been in my junior year of high school.
But like I said and before there's so many other athletes, you know you have Neymar and soccer.
Um, you have Simone Biles in gymnastics, people who have been constant consulate.
I say so early right now, but, you know, just lifelong you, mom, the fans that have taken his mentality and basketball in that grind and shift it over into whatever you do and that that truly, is what the mom of mentality is.
It's not, You know I would.
You trained for basketballs.
I'm going to train for my my job in real estate, my job and finance my artist's job.
My Etsy page, my My Mima count with whatever it is that you can apply the moment mentality that grind, you know, honesty.
I've been slacking on SportsCastr.
You know, I did some big video in the beginning of the month.
You know, economists slack and I usually compete, You know, this one that haven't been as much, and that's on me.
But I wanted to wake up today soon as I got my girlfriend ready to go off for work.
You know, I have a little bit of time lapse before I go to work.
Because my commute now just move this a little bit shorter.
I want to sit down to this video because, you know, I'm, um sometimes, you know, in my lazy ****.
But, you know, after yesterday, you know, I What's the best way for me personally? Christian McGowan To honor Kobe Bryant.
Someone he didn't even know me.
You know, I've sat near the tunnel and screamed, and maybe he's looked in my direction one time of all the millions of games he's played.
But you know what? How I'm gonna honor Kobe is I wanted to get up today.
Wonder this, you know, half an hour SportsCastr.
I wanted to, like, get these emotions out of me too.
I tried very hard not to cry.
You know, big, big boys don't cry whatever, but this is something that really, personally affected me.
You know, I was talking to my sister's yesterday who also group in l.
A big Kobe fans.
Well, I said, you know, I haven't really cried about.
I really haven't cried this hard about something since my mother had passed on you know, you might think of me.
Oh, my God, He's being so ridiculous.
But the feeling that, like I know that his daughters feel, you know, I lost my mom, Lis 53 when she passed away Kobe's 41.
So very unfortunately, they got less years of, you know, he was a much younger man that my mom was.
But, you know, that kind of guy said if you ever lost anyone, that's like you don't listen, this word you don't like sports.
This is why this story should still be just so heartbreaking to you because they're gonna have to go what, like beyond all of the optics of everything, like a mother and her daughters are going to have to pick up their life without their husband and their sister and try to put all the pieces back together.
And there's no playbook for that.
There is no, you know, you can't go to borders or go on Amazon and find something that has, you know, a self help for this specific thing.
Because there is no playbook.
There is no this is how you should feel.
This is how you should take it, and you know, Let's let's just keep whatever you believe.
Let's just keep them in your prayers.
Keep the energy.
You know, that's that's beyond that.
Grinds that Let not let things slip us by.
Let's really be in our bag this month, this year of his life.
Let's you know, on I'm the biggest one, you know, like I've you know, whether it's because me allowing my mom's passing to get into my emotions and you're becoming lazy or having lazy moments, you know, because I'm hurting or complacent.
You know, I everyone goes through that, you know, And I have to imagine even Cooley Bryan has gone through that in his life, whether he wouldn't when he was alive one minute or not like it happens to everyone.
Let's just take this this time and let's let's pull the other way and let's get out of the clouds and you know, the fog that we've been going through.
Let's really be on our grind. Let's get our stuff.
Let's be there for people you know that are hurting.
Let's be there for people who need our help in reverse.
Let's let's work as a team.
Let's let's be less selfish You know, obviously, Kobe, you're giving the ball and score, but still was a team player, one of the very best out of everyone looking his relationship with Lamar Odom, just wanting him to be clean and just be a healthy person because they were former teammates and they had a bond at one point.
You know what? That's brotherhood.
That's the kind of **** that you know, if your fault unwrap sports network or you follow a real estate business on the side.
You know, it's all people that we've been friends with family with since we were little kids since many, many, many years ago.
You know, that's what you know.
Good stuff is built on.
Is that kind of loyalty that kind of, you know, grind and respect.
And I appreciate everyone that stayed in the stream, appreciate gruesome 76 who is honestly, one of these superstars here on SportsCastr, you know, even watched one year things on YouTube one time when I couldn't catch the game Shut up March and champ for hopping in Bear to Jerry Clip, clip, clip.
Sorry, my eyesight.
This morning you could see how I was so puffy from crying yesterday that I like My side is already as extra ****ty as it normally is.
So thank you guys again for hopping. And thanks for SportsCastr.
Give me the platform to do this.
And I appreciate you guys have a great rest your day and I will check up with you guys later on.
