will the New England Patriots use Rob Gronkowski? Is retirement as a lesson when they're negotiating with Tom Brady this year? Is it time for the Patriots to move on from Mohammed Sunu? Or should they give him one more season to show what he's got in the keel? Harry played a shortened rookie season, and the question I have is, Why is Pats Nation already so quick to write him off? And here it goes, Dear Pats Nation was going on.

I hope that everybody is ready to talk about the New England Patriots because I'm ready to go because here on DP and we love football, we love football season and man, we love everything that goes with it.
What's crack a lacking people? So after winning Super Bowl 53 Rob Gronkowski took it, took a while deciding whether or not he'd retire, and the New England Patriots decided to stay patient.
And I think at the end of the day, we can see it ultimately backfired on them.
And according to Adam Schefter, at least in his opinion, Bill Belichick won't be so patient with Tom Brady and his pending free agency.
I Look, I'm not sure if you're aware of this or not, but the New England Patriots future Hall of Fame quarterback Tom Brady.
His contract is expiring on March 18th just in case you didn't know because it seems as of late, everybody and their grandmother has an opinion on the matter and wants to give their thoughts on what's gonna happen with Tom Brady in the very near future.
Even gossip websites like T.
M Z have been in on the rumor mill, you know, and it feels like every time I read an article about Brady and his contract situation, I'm just reading the same regurgitated information over and over and over again.
And the issue is nobody has yet to report any actual facts in quote any sources.
Who has any idea about what's actually going on with the Patriots and Brady? In terms of actual negotiations? All it is is a whole bunch of opinions.
All it is is a whole bunch of speculation its former players, current players, former Patriots people who probably never met Tom Brady.
Nobody's like Gary Tang.
Hey, everybody wants to give their two cents on the Tom Brady situation to the point that we're watching the sea of moving trucks are going to show up, and he's actually gonna move away from his mansion.
And if I was gonna be perfectly honest with all of you, I debated even tackling this subject tonight because I didn't want to just be another person.
Adding to the rumor mill, another person adding told the noise.
But with all of the rumors and opinions and frankly, sometimes Gary Tang a fake news.
Adam Schefter has a theory and out of everything I've heard out of every theory and at opinion, I've heard this one actually makes the most sense in a way.
But before we get into it, I need to remind you it's a theory.
It's not absolute.
Adam Schefter is not reporting that.
Here's what his insiders are saying. It's a theory.
He presented it that way, so we need to remember that going forward.
But last year, the Patriots they didn't get any clarity from Rob Gronkowski on whether or not he was going to retire until way after free agency started.
And it really hurt the Patriots.
We've all heard the story by now that Jared Cook he was willing to sign with New England.
But he wasn't comfortable signing with the Patriots, and he had the fear of playing second fiddle to Gronkowski.
Ultimately, if Gronk would have made his decision and retire earlier, then the Patriots could have signed Cook.
And that probably would have changed a lot about the Patriots struggling offenses season.
So essentially, the Patriots actually lost Rob Gronkowski and Jared Cook all at the same time, and really it was all because Bill Belichick just decided to stay patient and wait for Gronk.
And some people would even say that it's a rare misstep from Belichick and that he botched the whole situation.
And after reexamining everything.
And you know, I'm not the guy to see this.
I'm probably the biggest Bill Belichick apologised on the planet, but it looks like he kind of did.
The Patriots missed out on the top tight ends who were available, and, essentially, the Patriots were stuck fielding 38 year old Ben Watson, a journeyman, and Matt Lacoste in the 2018 7th round.
Draft pick Ryan is Oh, and Adam Schefter believes that the Patriots will take a very different approach to the Brady situation, he said.
Quote, Here's the situation.
I don't believe that the New England Patriots are waiting until March 16th to get an answer from Tom Brady.
Last year, Rob Gronkowski wound up retiring in late March.
I don't know the conversation they did and didn't have before, but New England missed the window on free agent tight ends, so I don't think that they're gonna let Tom Brady go to free agency and all of a sudden sign with Team X and then on March 20th say, Well, what do we do about quarterback now? That's not the way that organization operates.
Like I said, Schefter is not reporting anything.
You know, he hasn't heard anything from sources.
He's just making an educated guess.
Or at least that's the way he presented it.
Sometimes when it comes to Schefter, he knows more than he's telling us.
But right now I believe that this is educated.
I also don't think, though, that is being too optimistic to think that we should see some sort of resolution in this whole matter sooner rather than later.
And I don't think expecting that is that far of a stretch because it looks like the Patriots are gonna put some sort of time line out.
Out of all the crazy and wacky speculation and opinion I've heard about Brady's contract situation, Schefter makes a lot of sense, and he makes a really good point regarding how urgent the Patriots might be to bring these negotiations to a close chef.
Tres opinion has nothing to do with whether or not Brady will be reporting or returning to the Patriots next season.
But it points out that no matter which way this may go, and I still believe that Brady will be returning.
But no matter which way this may go, Bill Belichick may have a certain timeline that this has to get done, and I have to wonder, Just wonder.
And again, it's just me wondering if Brady does feel pressured and get some sort of indication that other teams could be interested in him does.
He eventually just flipped the bird to Bala Check and Robert Kraft? I don't think he will.
But again, it's just speculation in opinion.
No fact, in a way from just not, you know, wanting to miss out on possible free agents like Teddy Bridgewater.
Do I say Andy Dalton as I throw up in my mouth? There's also a financial situation that needs to be taken care of, and timelines that actually do have to be met now.
Alex Barth of 98 5 the sports He broke it down pretty clearly for Patriot fans, he said. Quote.
The Patriots have multiple motives to resolve Brady's contract one way or the other as quickly as possible.
First, there is the issue of his dead cat money as a result of the two bogus years at the back end of his last contract.
If Brady re signs with the Patriots before the March 18th deadline, his dead cap it of 13.
5 million will be spread out over the next two years, meaning he'd count 6.
75 million against the 2020 cap on top of whatever deal he signs and then another 6.
75 and 2021 if he signs a contract on or after March 18th.
Whether or not it's with the Patriots, they'll be on the hook for the full $13.
5 million next season.
Unquote, this entire situation is far from ideal, but it's obviously one that can't be ignored.
This isn't one of those moments where we can pretend it's not happening, and it's just going to go away.
And let's be honest with you.
The media will not allow Patriot fans to forget that Tom Brady is gonna be a free agent.
It's really my hopes that they get this thing solved very soon, not because I'm nervous that Brady won't be coming back, not because I'm nervous about salary cap and all that kind of thing.
I believe Bill Belichick can handle that in Nick's.
Rosario can handle that.
I'm just sick of hearing about it.
I'm sick of people with no information.
I'm sick of people who have never reported on Tom Brady and their life suddenly not only talking about it but having sources.
That's not what I'm doing tonight.
I'm talking about what Adam Schefter said.
Any speculation or anything that I have spoken about in the past has all been based on what I'm reading to you.
I'm just thinking here in a boat, and I just want it done, and I'm sure that your sick of hearing about it.
So why don't we just move on and talk about something different, something that I believe could be a little bit of a hot button topic? And that's the Patriots wide receiver Mohamed Sanu.
Is he a bust, or does New England need to stay patient with an early exit from the playoffs? Bill Bell check.
He's gonna be assessing everything about the New England Patriots and not includes whether using a second round draft pick on Mohammed Sunu was really worth it.
And when it comes to Mohammed Sunu, just about everybody seems to have an opinion of some sort.
And to be honest guys, there are about 100 different reasons that Patriot fans should feel optimistic about the new still being under contract and returning to the Patriots and 2020.
Unfortunately, there's probably also another 100 reasons for Pats Nation to be concerned.
And for me, it's really hard to cast judgment on both sides of the argument.
Usually, I'll just plant my feet and I will argue, and I will tell you that you're wrong and you're entitled.
But I can't do it on this one.
You know, some people, they just want Bill Bell check to cut his losses.
Move on from Seenu.
We lost a second round pick.
It's a gamble that didn't work, whatever.
Well, others believe that he could still be a huge playmaker for the Patriots next season.
The truth is, it's so split down the middle.
Even the overall ****ysis for Mohammed Sunu is so tough to gauge.
Here's a prime example.
Just today I read three different articles about Seenu.
One said that the Pacer, the Patriots should just a patient.
Wait till next season, see what the guy could do.
Maybe it's just time to move on.
And another article flat out called Mohammed Sunu in the trade of bust.
And when you're trying to make up your mind and come up with an actual opinion in regards to Mohammed Sunu, I think it's important that we listen to both sides of the argument, and that's exactly what I want to do today.
I picked two articles.
I picked two experts.
I picked you guys who understand the Patriots, and we're gonna present both sides of the argument now.
Brady Mac lir from fan sided.
He's one of those guys who's choosing to see the negative and Mohamed Sanu, and he questions whether or not it's just time for the Patriots to move on from Seenu and go on.
Seenu is set to be paid $6.
5 million for his service is next season.
If those service's resemble anything at all what he produced in his nine games as a patriot this season, then that would be a huge over pay for the Pats, with 207 receiving yards in just a single touchdown to his name in the regular season with New England.
The news comparables over the last 10 years are unappealing.
Over the course of the last eight games of the seasons, the news numbers post similar numbers to the likes of 2018.
Germaine Curse 2018 Trench Airfield 2016 Von Austin in 2011 uh, jazz shillings End quote.
You know, guys, and for me, it's really hard to argue with what's being said.
So new is going to take up a big chunk of salary cap, and the Patriots have prominent players that they need to resign.
You know, those guys include Tom Brady, Kyle Van Noy, Joe Tooni, Jamie Collins, Devin McCourty, Matthew Slater.
I also don't think it's completely fair to cast judgment so quickly.
New season in production When we look at it, really took a hit in a turn for the worst when he was injured against the Baltimore Ravens.
When you know when he picked up that ankle injury and when you couple that with him missing time, missing games, being limited, a practice and being brand new to one of the most difficult and complicated offenses in the NFL it could have really contributed to his struggles.
But I have to agree with Brady and some sense.
If Seenu can't get it together and start contributing to the Patriots, $6.
5 million is a difficult number for us to swallow, and I guess belts that could consider moving on from Seenu.
And I'm sure somewhere there's still somewhat of a market forum.
But I highly doubt that Belichick will be able to recover the second round pick that he gave up for Mar for new.
Now, Brady also makes a good point.
Why it's a good idea for the Patriots to move on.
Due to being traded from Atlanta, all the guaranteed money force A new is on the Falcons books, meaning there would be no cat penalty for cutting or trading Seenu.
All of this being said, I don't know what you could get first anew in a trade fan.
Shouldn't expects to require the second round pick that the Patriots gave up.
It's new was not worth the second round pick in the first place in this value has dropped since the trade.
Nevertheless, pretty much anything in return for Seenu should be considered a victory for Bill Belichick and Crew at this point end quote and look again.
It's difficult to argue with that logic.
And even if there was no market, Bella check may feel like he could just improve the team in general with the salary that he would have.
If you would just save the money, cut his losses and not get.
And really considering signing a big name, free agents say, like a Hooper or Henry.
Well, it could be worth losing that second round draft pick that you gave up for Seenu if you're able to convert some of that money and pick up a big name player.
But just like I said at the top, there are a lot of different perspectives when it comes to the whole of Mohammed Sunu thing.
And while one person is telling us that the Patriots need to move on from Seenu, somebody else is telling us that the Patriots need to give him another shot.
And I'm sure that you'll have your own opinions and I have my own personal opinion, and my personal opinion is that I think the Patriots should stick it out for another season with the new.
But when you read things like what Brady Mac earlier said, it's a least gives me a bit of pause in and makes me at least think about my evaluation a little bit harder.
Now here's the thing, though.
We go through that article on its wings, our attention in one direction.
And then I read the Keats article on Nessen called Mohammed.
Sunu deserves patients entering the second season with the Patriots, and it gives you a whole different perspective.
And I think that's the important thing right now is that don't make your decision based on what one person says or what one article says.
Don't make your mind up based on what I say.
Patriot fans do your research and make a decision based upon everything you've seen.
Everything you've heard and that will give you the best way to make a decision.
If you're just writing off Mohammed Sunu because you heard a couple of Patriots writers, a couple of Patriot fans say the guy's a bum.
Well, you're not paying attention to a lot now, Keith said.
This quote, Mohammed Sunu, has become something of a scapegoat since the New England Patriots season ended prematurely and wild card weekend.
The Patriots traded up for a second round pick, first new at the trade deadline and, after seeing them, struggled to catch up and catch one in eight games.
Ah, vocal contingent of fans who parent radio hosts want him gone as an inside.
There is no more tired now than the F word around Boston right now.
Seenu was expected to fix the Patriots offensive issues after coming over from the Falcons.
He seemed like the perfect fit.
Quarterback Tom Brady was excited to have him around, and so new was confident upon entering Gillette Stadium.
So Bing bang, boom, right? He'd catch a bunch of passes, move the chains and provide a jolt.
Right end. Quote.
My biggest takeaway from the way Doug started this article was when he said Brady was excited about SNU joining the Patriots.
You know, because of how disappointing this season ended and because of how poorly Seenu actually played, We forget that a Brady actually lobbied ballot check to go out in trade for Seenu specifically, and B Brady was gushing over Mohammed Sunu becoming a patriot, and Tom Brady thought that him into new could make a lot of magic together.
And, you know, Bala check as of late has been very criticized for the trade, and it usually falls under the Bell attack failed Brady category.
But we can't ignore that.
Brady was a big part of that trade.
So if Brady is feeling any ill will towards Belle, a check for the lack of weapons he provided him with, I really don't think that Brady is holding him responsible for Mohammed Sunu.
Not quite getting up to speed and not quite performing the way I believe.
The coaches, the team, the fans, the media, everybody thought he would perform.
So maybe it's fans, because that's all we are.
Fans were not experts.
The media aren't experts were all fans, but maybe his fans who don't actually play the game on the field.
Maybe we should trust the coach quarterback combination that's brought us six championships instead of constantly quickly casting judgment and *****ing *****ing *****ing about things that are completely out of our control now, Keith said.
Seenu is asked to play receiver in return punts and in the later duty he suffered an ankle injury, missed the game and never quite looked the same.
He totaled 26 catches on 47 targets for 207 yards with the touchdown in eight games, 10 catches and 81 of those yards came in his second contest with the Patriots.
It's a new dropped four passes, struggled to pick up first downs and looked a little lost at times.
It didn't go well, but that's not to say that the Patriots should simply cut bait with the new to free up cap space.
Releasing or trading so new would amount to $6.
5 million with the cap space and make for a completely wasted second round pick.
The amount of money doesn't go very far these days.
While signing receivers Willie Snead averages six million per season, Taylor Gabriel averages 6.
5 million, Albert Wilson and Paul Richardson average eight million and Marqise Lee averages $8.
5 million per season.
Unquote, Doug makes a pretty good point when he points out that Seenu is actually a pretty good bargain financially for a veteran receiver.
I also think that is Patriot fans were always looking for a scapegoat and so new was the perfect target mainly because of how profile that are high profile the trade was.
And as Patriot fans, I also believe we're always looking for the next Randy Moss, who's going to repeat the Moss Brady magic that we had back in 2007.
We're now about to enter the 2020 season, and we have yet to see a repeat of the 2000 and seven Brainy Tomas season, and I think at some point we need to get that out of our heads.
There's a reason that Randy Moss is in the Hall of Fame.
There's not actually that many Hall of Fame receivers around the league that Tom Brady can make that kind of magic with now.
Doug continues on with his ****ysis, and he points out that last season was probably more of an off year than a precursor of what's to come with the new quote.
Seenu is a perfectly good receiver in his two stops.
Before arriving in New England, he was on pace for 75 catches in over 700 yards with Atlanta before getting traded, he caught 66 passes for 838 yards with four touchdowns and 2018 and outside of his ankle, Seenu didn't change Onley.
His setting did.
It's understandably much easier to blame Sanou than it is to blame anyone in the Patriots organization for the receiver shortcomings, But it isn't worthwhile is.
But isn't it worthwhile to see if he can be more dependable and productive with a full season full off season in the scheme? Wouldn't that make a whole lot more sense than cutting the guy because he didn't single handedly fix a floundering offense rather than start over with someone new? Why not? Let's the new build on what he learned last season.
At the very least, there should be less pressure on Seenu to perform next season.
New essentially was asked to be the Patriots number two target in 2019.
If New England adds a starting caliber tight end, another wide receiver and 2019 1st round draft pick Nick Hell, Harry progresses, then that will spread out targets and take the load off of SNU.
If it wasn't the ankle, then it's unclear what caused too new to struggle.
But he was good with the Bangles and Falcons, and there's no reason to believe he can't reach that same level of play with the Patriots after a full off season end. Quote.
Now, look, I think that Doug hit it right on the head on a couple of different things here.
Number one snooze, a pretty good receiver.
And he has been a pretty good receiver, and I don't think he suddenly just fell off a cliff for had sudden regression after he was traded to New England.
It seems like it was just a case of a guy struggling to adapt to his new surroundings.
And before you start screaming at me that that has nothing to do with him dropping footballs, it actually absolutely does.
I'm sure that Mohammed Sunu felt a ton of pressure trying to learn this new system and holding the weight on his shoulders that he was brought in to try and fix a broken offense.
Who, at the end of the day, when we re examine everything, they really had no hope of being fixed, that will lead to pressure and can lead to mistakes like dropped passes.
You know, there's a lot of what ifs going into this season.
Yeah, Nikki Harry needs to take a huge step forward Bill Belichick.
His number one priority has to be it to be addressing the tight end situation.
And if we go by the popular opinion, I don't go by it.
But a lot of Patriot fans do, and that's fine.
You guys could be right.
It's just my opinion.
But the Patriots need another receiver.
I don't think that we can blame Sanou for everything that happened this season, and I lean more on Doug's opinion and I think I do Brady's.
And I don't think that the Patriots should give up so new, either.
I want to see what he can accomplish this season.
I want to see what he can do.
After a full off season.
I want to see exactly what the Patriots can accomplish with Mohammed Sunu and Tom Brady, with some tight and helping a little bit more weapons and now moving on from one receiver.
I'm gonna talk about another, and it's really talking about receivers tonight besides the Tom Brady thing, And that's talking about the Patriots rookie to kill Harry, You know, for the first time in the Bill Belichick era as the head coach and general manager of the New England Patriots.
They selected a wide receiver in the first round of the draft.
Nine months later, Pats Nation thinks the pick could have been a mistake.
But I think it's way too early to call the young kid out.
Look, I am, and I will continue to be a big fan of McKeel Harry.
And truthfully, I think that his ceiling, it's still too far up for us to see.
Admittedly, Harry's career didn't have the most ideal start.
But with a little bit of luck and a healthy season, I believe that McKeel Harry will have a much better 2020 season.
I'm not here to call anybody out. I'm really not.
But I don't understand why so many Patriot fans and Boston media members are so ready to write this kid off.
Men from fans sided.
He seems to be on the same page is me, and he wrote an article called New England Patriots too early to count out McKeel Harry, who, looking back at the 2019 New England Patriots draft class.
There isn't a whole lot of stars, but don't count McKeel Harry out.
McKeel Harry just yet this season was a disappointment for the New England Patriots.
In many ways, Once again, the Patriots draft picks struggled to find their place on the team.
The Patriots barely even used some of the rookies.
I don't know why we didn't see Maura Damian Harris this season.
New England's running game and offensive A hole as as a whole clearly could have used a spark.
Now the Patriots did get an immediate return on some players.
Chase win a ***** was to stand out of the Patriots 2019 draft class.
He finished the season with five and 1/2 sacks.
Jake Bailey was also pretty good, but it's hard to judge a punter.
I don't know why the Patriots decided to waste a draft pick on him.
One player that has drawn criticism is Nikki Will Harry, 2019 wasn't the best year for the receiver end quote.
Look, Sam's assessment of the Patriots rookies was a very true and very disappointing assessment all at the same time.
Um, I think a lot of us and I think you guys gotta admit it now.
Don't try to hide from it, but I think a lot of us were really happy with the draft, right away and a lot of Patriot fans in my YouTube comments on Twitter, I wasn't on SportsCastr at the time.
Put, I even had some fans describing the 2019 draft is Bill Belichick's best draft ever since taking over the Patriots, Even though there was a season that Devin McCourty, Rob and Rob Gronkowski were drafted in the same year, This was the one that people believed was Belle checks best.
And maybe we were just optimistic because the Patriots actually took a receiver so early in the draft.
Chase Winter *****.
Huge pickup Jake Bailey.
You can assess him.
He's a stud watching them kick this year.
You know what? I'm sorry, Sam.
You should see why the page is a draft pick, but Harris not getting an opportunity and Harry not performing expectations.
When we think about this year's drafted, I admit it.
It kind of puts a bad taste in your mouth, but I think we need to remember that Harry was just a rookie playing on a short season.
But there were moments that you could see what he was capable of, and I think with the right off season plan and the right game plan and scheming by Josh McDaniels.
I think that Harry is gonna be a huge part of this patriotsoffensive season.
Now Sam continues to touch base on Harry season, and I think a lot of us are going to agree with his assessment, especially when he talks about Josh McDaniels.
And we talked about it a lot.
And McDaniels did not use Harry properly.
And McDaniels even talked about it himself, saying that he needed to figure out a way to use the keel.
Harry, you know when you think about the game against the Kansas City Chiefs, when guys like Jacoby Meyers and Mohammed Sunu were dropping balls all over the field, Nikkila Harry was targeted twice and he technically had a touchdown.
It looks some of this blame has to go on to Tom Brady as well and as going upbraiding him, refusing to trust Harry in this situation that he excels the best.
When Harry first got on the field, you could tell that he was a rookie.
He made some running routes mistakes, and at times he looked a bit lost.
But as the season progressed, he showed what he was capable of.
When Harry gets into open space he started.
He's hard to bring down.
He finished the season with 12 catches for 100 5 yards and two touchdowns.
I think the problem this season was how the New England Patriots used Harry.
They need to throw up more jump balls because Harry is known for his ability to go up and grab those 50 50 balls.
It's still so it's still too soon to call Nikki Harry a bus in 2020.
I think that he will show his true talent.
And I think that's where we all have to agree.
We talked about McKeel Harry a lot.
Why aren't the Patriots especially in the red zone? Why are they not using him? Maur to go up quien the ladder and catch the ball? And at the end of the day, Harry played a short season where he basically his 1st 4 games of the season were his preseason, and his 1st 4 games came what week? Nine or we, we tend 11.
He needs a whole season.
He needs a whole training camp.
He needs the whole preseason.
Unfortunately, injury bug, which seems now to be a staple for Patriots rookies.
Michelle dealt with injuries.
Isaiah Win Mr Season.
Derrick Rivers missed his first season with the Patriots due to injury.
John Bentley missed almost his whole rookie season with injury.
It just seems to be this common factor of Patriots being injured.
I think even Ryan is Oh, Mrs whole rookie season because of an injury.
But I'm telling you, give this kid the opportunity and he will make things happen.
And guys, with all that being said on this beautiful, freezing cold Friday night here in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, it's now time for me to call it a night and go enjoy the rest of my evening.
And I hope that you all enjoy the rest of your evening.
Thank you so much for tuning into my show here.

And that's why I appreciate you all.
And I hope that you guys will keep coming out listening to my stuff and chilling out and talking patriots.
And with all that being said, ladies and gentlemen, thank you so much for tuning in.
