New Orleans Saints fans.
It is Michael Belco here.
It has been a long time since I hopped on SportsCastr.
So, you know, I had to help on here for you guys real quick.
I've been banging out some articles for the who died dish dot com.
Make sure you guys were checking that out on my Twitter. All that good stuff.
Um, once again, SportsCastr brought to you by own rat sports is always so here we are about to bang out something I just wrote a couple articles about, actually, Um, so, yeah, I'm just gonna go over a couple of categories I wrote down for you guys and, uh, talk about my thoughts on it.
Saints off season.
Here we go, baby.
All right, five guys.
Cessation re sign.
That was actually my second ever professional article.
It just released yesterday.
Um, makes you guys go check that out if you haven't yet.
Um, here they are.
Five dia station re signed quarterback Drew Brees.
That's pretty obvious.
State's gonna re sign.
Drew Brees is their franchise leader.
Like everything is one of the end of the NFL's best quarterback of all time. In my opinion.
Um, you know, we've just built our offense around him since 2006.
Why stop now? Keep going As long as he wants to go.
That's the way I see it.
Say have Drew Brees wants to come back.
He's up. He's deciding.
Currently, if he wants to retire or if he wants to return, hopefully he decides to return and we consign him.
And that kind of plays it.
Impact on something.
I'll talk about a little bit later, but, uh, yeah, I definitely try to bring back Drew Brees keeping in the same position.
Quarterback Taysom Hill.
I do think we need a re signed Taysom Hill.
Um, something about a little bit later is the fact that if Drew Brees does up to return, we cannot afford to bring back all three quarterbacks.
Obviously, I do think we should go with the cheaper option.
Let Teddy walk, um, but bring back taste.
Um, look at some other guys in the draft free agency.
I'll talk about that a little bit later, though.
Just hang in there with me.
Um, may I do think we should bring back taste of Phyllis.
Explosiveness was insane.
Um, in the the wild card round of the playoffs.
He was just He was literally the only reason we were competitive in that game.
So I do think we need to bring him back.
You know, he's like our little wildcat, Swiss Army knife kind of guy, so we definitely got to bring him back.
Um, unless this, you know, is asking Price is too high.
We do have other guys who are a little bit more important, I think, but, um, yeah, so Taysom Hill definitely.
Would you try to re sign him if the price is right? Um, defensive tackle David Anya Mata.
Um, he hasn't put up the greatest numbers ever as a defense of tackle, but he has by far our most consistent and reliable defense of tackle showed in rank.
It has been battling injuries since he came into the NFL and David on Yamato really hasn't.
He's been He was 1/4 round pick out of Manitoba in Canada.
Um, and honestly, he's just been a beast.
He's just kind of just been a run stuff and kind of guy.
You know, just a guy you plug out there.
He just plays well, you know, usually plays about 75 65 75% of the snaps.
What He's on the field, um, and healthy, which is like all the time.
He's never missed a game due to an injury.
He's only missed one game, and it was this year due to a suspension, but he's very reliable, very healthy.
He's the kind of guy we definitely got to try to keep in New Orleans.
Um, I would actually go as far as saying we should keep him and let Rankin's walking next year.
Um, I see how high I am of David on Yamada in our future defensive tackles that we do have, um, but looking into the future a little bit, I do think David Ahumada should be here for the long haul, Um, looking into the secondary a little bit now.
Safety von Bell.
He led the NFL and fumble recoveries this year.
That's not look that is called being at the right place at the right time.
Skill, guys, skill.
We got to bring him back.
He had a career year this year, got his first career interception, took it for like 18 19 yards.
Um, he was just a playmaker all year long.
Probably our best defense.
The player we had all year, with the exception of, like DeMario Davis and Cam Jordan, like, do really balled out like I think he was definitely our best player in the secondary.
By every was quick to say, Marshawn Ladder Moyer.
But like Bonne Bell balled out six fumble recoveries led the NFL by two.
Actually, um, and then he had, like, four sacks, I think.
Itwas like he was just a playmaker all over the field.
So definitely the kind of guy we need to bring back.
Um, I could see him in our secondary for a long time.
You know, if the price is right, hopefully we sign.
It's like a 45 year extension.
That'd be great, because that I mean, if you do that, then you have You know, you have Marcus Williams.
You have bomb bell, you have Marshall Lattimore.
You got generous Jenkins.
And then you have C.
Garner, Johnson and our nickel corner slot.
So that's just a great secondary right there. That's the secondary.
That's that's a Super Bowl caliber secondary.
Um, then at the linebacker position aging client.
I do think we need to bring him back.
He was actually forced into the starting role this year. He's not.
We did not come into the year as a starter, but do it.
Alex Anzalone e injury early in the year, he did have to step up and start so and he played very well, Actually went out there, had a couple of sacks, was a big playmaker.
Had take six in one game.
Um, on dudes just all over the field, you know, at a couple picks.
Actually, I think this year, but yeah, all over the feelings to get veteran presence tohave in the locker room and all that good stuff.
So doesn't it kind of guy we need to bring her out? No, on the flint side.
Three guys, The saint should let walk.
Just wrapped up an article about this literally five minutes ago that I hopped on here.
That article should be released in tomorrow, But I'm gonna give you guys a sneak peek right here on the SportsCastr.
Three guys, the safety.
Offensive guard Andrews.
Pete, um, he's gonna be considered as one of the best offensive lineman's in this year's for agent class, just one of the best.
You know, his capability of playing both guard and tackle definitely is helpful for his sake.
Um, so I definitely do think he is going to be paid very, very well this offseason.
The same just really can't afford that.
Um, and he's just really been unreliable, you know what I mean? He's missed 15 games over five seasons.
That's almost a full season that he's missed just due to injuries.
Um, and he does have penalty issues when he is on the field.
When he was injured this year, Nikki's and filled in perfectly offense Randa's.
If Andrew Speed was there this whole time, it's not better to be honest with you.
So I think we gotta let Pete walk and maybe bring in some extra help is like backup.
But I do think Big East and should be the starting guard moving forward.
Um, quarterback Teddy Bridgewater.
Now the only reason he is on this list is because you're a breeze is likely to return if Drew Brees doesn't return.
That shakes up everything.
I think we signed Teddy to a long term extension, but if Drew Brees does decide to return, and we sign into a two or three year deal, something like that.
We do have to let Teddy walk.
We just cannot afford it and still be in contention.
Um, multiple reasons why I put Teddy on this list.
He is a very good quarterback, but the main reason is is he is going to demand 20 to $30 million this year.
He proved he's definitely, very well proven that he can be a starting caliber quarterback in this league.
He led the Saints to a five minute record, which was injured.
You guys know the whole story already through nine touchdowns to pics completed almost 70% of his passes.
So do can go out there, dude concealing it.
He's gonna be a starting quarterback making a lot of money for a team next year.
Unfortunately, it won't be ours, and less Drew Brees decides to retire.
Drew Brees, for some reason, is not, does not come back to the Saints or decides to retire.
I think Teddy is our guy.
We signed him to a five year deal.
That's what I'm saying, but it's not likely that's gonna happen.
Um, so Yeah, I do think we have to let Teddy walk.
As unfortunate as it is, I do love Teddy of a big teddy Bridgewater fan.
Unfortunately, you know, business is business.
We can't afford to sign Teddy Bridgewater and then also afford to be able to sign Marchant Lattimore, Marcus Williams to marry.
Oh, Davis, all these other guys.
You know what I mean? You guys get the deal.
Bryan ran check.
He's gonna be needing a deal pretty soon.
So you got you gotta take and choose your battles a little bit, you know what I mean? So oh, boy, two or nine. Thanks for the thumbs up.
Appreciate it on. Do another.
And then the third guy, this angel that walk his corner.
Eli Apple had his best year of his career this year, but it was also still trash.
Um, you know, I thought he was always just kind of a decent corner, but, like, uh, we need guys who are more d c more than decent.
You know what I mean? We're trying to make a push at a Super Bowl here.
Not just kind of always lose in the first round, like we tend to do, Um, getting a getting rid of Eli Oppel.
Letting him walk would obviously be a big deal.
We could go after guys in the draft who are a little bit better and a lot cheaper.
So there's that.
Plus, if you look it P J.
Williams stats Compared to Eli Apple stats, P J.
Williams is a little bit more effective.
Williams has 43 tackles, a pick and a sack this year.
Eli Apple had, like 53 tackles with no pics, no *** and gave up more catches.
And, like 10 other receiver urn, Yeah, give up more catches than most other corners in the entire NFL.
Um, I said I'd go more in depth limit on the article that's releasing tomorrow.
On who? That dish dot com mish. You guys check that out.
I'll tweet about it.
All of that good stuff.
But, uh, make sure you guys check that out tomorrow.
I'll go with a more in depth on it.
But, yeah, you like apples? A guy we have to let walk.
There's cheaper options.
I'm about to go over.
Um, that could be far more effective than Eli Apple.
Five guys to pursue in free agency.
This article was already released by me.
Actually, not really.
I just kind of talked about it a little bit.
Maybe I should release this article, but five guys to pursuing.
Free to see why you're Seaver a J. Green.
That's a little bit of a price, Yearwood.
But I do think we should go out there and try to make a case for a J. Green.
You know, a J. Green.
He's a Southern boys from Georgia, All that good stuff.
So, you know, um, you might take a little bit of not really a hometown discount because I got Eddie from Georgia.
But, like, you know, maybe he'll take a little bit more of a discount because we are a championship caliber team, you know? Let's just imagine we get Drew Brees back.
We have Michael Thomas Alvin Kamara in the backfield.
Octavius, Mary Celeste, the back of running back in the backfield.
And then we signed a guy like a J green.
Plus, we still have Ted Gang.
We saw Jared Cook.
You know, we still have a great offensive line, a great defense which Janoris, Jenkins and Lattimore anchor and down the corners like that's the scary team, guys.
That's a scary, scary team right there.
So getting a guy lay a J.
Green would just be a big tone center.
And then we could still go after a guy later in the draft, like 2nd 3rd round, stuff like that.
I'll talk about that in a little bit, though, Um, but yeah.
So getting a guy like a J. Green will be clutch.
Um, and yeah, we could start building on the future in the draft.
A little bit of getting him signing a J.
Green like a 23 year deal coming off an injury.
So you know there's some things out the way in our advantage a little bit and give us reasons to be a little skeptical about signing him.
But you know, at the end of the day, like it's still be great to sign a guy like a J.
Green, of course, Um Corner Bradley Roby.
Um, at the end of day, we're still looking for a corner depth, ah, guy to replace the liable.
If we resign Eli up along, that could be a very happy guy.
to be honest with you.
Unless it's for anything more than deaf.
If he comes back next year and it's the starter.
Overgenerous Jenkins, I'll protest.
No, I'm just kidding.
But getting really Bradley Roby and free just he would be great winning.
Joe. Thank you for the whistle.
I appreciate it, but getting a guy like Bradley Roby afraid it would be nice.
He's kind of had up and down on a roller coaster career so far.
You know, one here.
He's really good.
What? Yuri's He's a little bit not so good.
But, you know, he has an Ohio State guys.
So why not replace an Ohio State guy with an even better Ohio State guy? Get a great year with Houston this year? I'd be surprised if Houston doesn't try to franchise tag him, or at least sign it to a long term deal.
Something like that.
But if Bradley Roby does become available, I'd like to see this place. A bid for him.
Um, this was gonna throw a lot of you guys by surprise, huh? A lot of you guys by surprise.
This is kind of like away like out there. Option.
I don't really see it happening, but like it's kind of me wishful thinking.
Um, so let's say we re sign Drew Brees, but we don't want to sign Taysom Hill or Teddy Bridgewater.
This is the kind of guy I think that we should go for, and I'll explain it to you.
Why? Marcus Mariota from the Tennessee Titans.
So Ryan Tannehill is clearly the guy in Tennessee now, right? Marcus Mariota and Ryan Tannehill are both free agents.
Likely, Tannehill is gonna end up getting a franchise tag and they're gonna work on a long term deal throughout next season.
Mario is probably gonna be let go.
There's no reason for them to keep two guys who are competing for the same starting job.
But Mario thinks you could go somewhere better and do the same things that you know he was doing in Tennessee.
But the only difference is you come to a coach like Sean Payton and all of a sudden you become the next like taste of hell.
We could use it in the same ways we use taste of hell.
Mario has caught touchdowns in the playoffs before.
He's been out there. He's been receivers.
He does little Wildcat runs from time to time.
It's the kind of guy like you could tell Mike Variable was trying to do the exact same thing Sean Payton does with Taste of Bill.
Obviously would be nice to have taste of Hill, but, like, why not try to get both of them taste in Philly and Marcus? Mariana, We got to start moving mobile guys like our next starting quarterback has to be a mobile guy like That's just the way the league is trending.
So why not get a really jump? Let him learn the playbook a little bit in a mobile guy like Marcus Mariota into the system.
I think it be a great signing, all that good stuff, All right.
Mackenzie Alexander is the guy we should pursue.
Here's why Trae Waynes and Mackenzie Alexander or both said to be free agents.
They're both on the same team, but Kensi Alexander is a far more effective quarter corner corner back.
He's a far more effective corner, Um, and he is going to be far more cheaper just because the Vikings do favor Trae Waynes a lot.
Trey weighs a starting corner and McKinsey Alexander's and nickel quarter, but he's like one of the best nickels in the entire NFL.
So it's going T.
C what the Vikings decide to do there.
But, uh, I do think they probably up to stay with Trey Wayne's, which means Mackenzie Alexander is gonna be available.
And we could get him for cheaper, maybe offer him a little bit more than one other team put off for him, because at the end of the day, I'd probably still be a good deal for us.
Bring him onto the team, you know, and then get him out there, get rid off.
You know, he being upgrade from like P.
Williams or something like that are definitely an upgrade from Eli Apple.
Guys like that, you know what I mean? I got to get these new guys and get this new way of go inside hints.
Maybe like a four year deal.
If he plays well, he could just replace Janoris Jenkins.
No need to sign him.
He's gonna be 32 in October in the final guy for five guys to pursue a free agency wide receiver to Marius Thomas.
I think the Marius Thomas is still a very good receiver.
Um, I do think he's fallen off a little bit, obviously from his Denver days and all that good stuff when he had Peyton Manning thrown in the ball.
But he's also hasn't had a good quarterback since paying Manning was thrown in the ball.
Bring him into New Orleans like Drew Brees, throwing the ball real quick.
We'll see what he can do that you know what I mean? It's not worse case scenario.
It just opens up Michael Thomas even more because then you actually have to focus on guarding to Marius Thomas rather than just kind of like being slack with the number two receiver, the safe side, because Ted Ginn just isn't cutting it.
Ted Ginn within moved to a number three.
It would just open up our offense a lot more, having a guy who is capable of being a good receiver.
But he's kind of book built more like a tight end.
So he's a big physical receiver.
A good physical blocker opens up our run game a little bit more.
That's that's the kind of guys we need, like when we run the ball and we're running it towards Michael Thomas decide he's a great physical blocker.
We get way more yards, but we could never run it to the other side because Ted Ginn can't block for anything.
So it's just really important to have good physical receivers who can block is, well, Marius Thomas will be a great faith in the world, all right, three guys to pursue in the draft.
If he's available, I'd like to see us get corner.
CJ Henderson, out of Florida in the first round.
Great Athletic Corner.
Supposed to slide in the drive due to an injury.
But he was projected to be the number one corner coming into this draft before his injury after his injury.
It kind of has taken over by other guys, but I would love to see us even maybe in potentially trade up to get CJ Henderson do would come in.
Probably start right away, to be honest, or at least be like the nickel guy bumps CJ over somewhere else.
But I would love, love, love, love to see CJ Henderson in the New Orleans Saints uniform next year.
That's like a dream scenario, but if we can't get him, I'd like to see us go after.
Why? You're super Justin Jefferson from L s U.
I know all you New Orleans Saints fans know who that is.
Justin Jefferson at l s U being tall receiver.
Um, you know, if we can sign a free agent receiver and then we also go, we draft a guy like Justin Jefferson.
Plus we bring back.
Maybe they Keith Kirkwood.
Um and we still have to again like that's a pretty good receiving corps.
I'll take that receiving corps any day.
Um, pair him up with my Thomas.
All of a sudden, we go from having one really good receiver in no depths toe, having a really good receiver and some really good depth.
Um, and that's what we need.
We mean, we need more playmakers on the offensive side of the ball.
Oh, yeah, And I think late in the draft, like the third to fifth row range, we should go after a guy, the quarterback Jake from, if not geeks Jake from maybe a different quarterback by Jacob E.
Send something like that.
Um, that's like a far fetched option.
If we can't get like a if we can't re sign one of our quarterbacks.
And, you know, we can't, you know, re signed, like a backup or something for cheap.
We've got to go after and get a guy in the draft.
Obviously, Jalen Harris isn't available late.
And, like maybe the second or third round, Um, I don't want I would rather risk it late Jake from.
He's a proven starter.
He kind of has Drew Brees qualities to him.
Big Ben qualities.
He'd be a solid quarterback for us.
But thank you guys so much for tune in.
Makes you guys follow me on Twitter at Michael Ballack owe us and same handless nous.
Um God bless everybody.
Have a great day.
