Welcome in there, everyone.
Thanks so much for stopping buys.
We are back on the sports dish on SportsCastr once again.
So tonight I just want to go over what went down on Tuesday night.
It was just unnecessary.
Absolutely terrible in a big, big black guy for college basketball.
Total embarrassment especially for us to sports programs here for the for the state of Kansas.
It's just not good at all.
So I'm gonna go down today.
Ah, what went on as back on Tuesday night? Two nights ago, massive massive brawl broke out during the Kansas Kansas State Basketball match up in Lawrence, Kansas, at the out on Field House.
From a result of that, it wasn't until last night where the Big 12 went down and it resulted in four suspensions with a big 12.
Finally announced who would get suspended from that? So we're gonna go through here on the sports dish on SportsCastr.
What exactly happened? What brood out from that big, big instate rivalry game took place Tuesday night.
If you guys didn't know where didn't see the video that's already viral throughout the Internet.
Already here, the sunflower showdown.
That's what the name is termed, as it is coined.
The college basketball match up between in state rivals the Kansas City Wildcats in the Kansas Jayhawks will end their ended in this, a bench clearing brawl between the two teams, multiple punches being thrown at the center of it.
So Vo just Sosa for the Kansas Jayhawks is he was the one who basically grabbed the attention of everybody and made the headlines the next morning. Wood.
Some classic photos that were pointed out about that.
The Soza grabbing the attention of everyone in the national headlines, picking up a stolen.
It happened in the worst seating section of on the disabled core area seating right behind the basketball hoop on Lee.
Go left the store above the Souza's had, and he almost almost almost used it as a weapon and was so so close could've been another Myles Garrett situation once again, but fortunately just in the nick of time, too, so so was restrained by one of his assistant coaches.
You came in just before he was on before it was about, suggest unleash W W e style on that store right above his head.
I've never in my life has seen anything in the world of college basketball before.
Like I saw before last night's big, huge brawl.
There were K State and Kansas.
I've seen a couple things, but nothing to the magnitude of that before.
I remember back in 2011 there was Cincinnati vs Xavier.
They had to end.
The game would like the last minute or so because multiple punches were thrown there and a fight broke out.
And ah, player for Xavier was actually bleeding on the karaoke and 2011.
But this this is taken it to a whole new level.
What I saw back on Tuesday night, we'll take a look at home on how all of this unfolded back on Tuesday night.
Here, I'll bring you to how all this unfolded and as well, we'll get Thio What happened with the suspensions being issued from last night as well? So the first thing that happened here is just Dewan Gordon, freshman for Kansas State's, as he was the one who basically started it.
The freshman from Kansas State as the so suffer Kansas had the basketball 10 seconds remaining and he was dribbling past the half court line with under 10 seconds.
Off to go score.
Was Kansas just blowing out? K State score was 81 59 at the time.
I feel like the game was just It was basically over anyway.
The soon's all you have to do is dribble out the basketball dribble off the clock.
And what what happened here? Five seconds left to go scoop Dewan Gordon comes right in behind the Sosa grabs the basketball in troubles his way towards the Kansas State's Kansas State's hoop Now flashback Thio earlier this season.
I believe it was back in November.
Kansas took on Mon meant Kansas, absolutely blowing out Mom if in the nonconference game in one of the players from Mom came and did the exact same thing the Kansas and scored on the meeting Meaningless bucket.
That was what Dewan Gordon for case they was trying to d'oh in this rivalry game back on Tuesday night.
But not so fast.
Number two years.
Sue Pio Sosa just charges right from behind Gordon, and he won't let him get off the hook because so is it.
Comes right flooring behind.
Gordon swats away.
The basketball is.
Gordon tries to go in for the lay up.
The block, by the way, wasn't just a regular block.
It was It was with a lot, a lot of force on that when lots of juice on that block as well.
And this number three, the third part about it is what it really got going after the block.
Tons of juice in the block.
Stands right over Gordon.
He just hovers right over Gordon.
Gordon is on the ground, helpless, and then the refs assess a technical foul for taunting to this.
Oh, so but basically the damage is done right after that.
Never mind the whistles. You couldn't even hear the whistles.
All mayhem just broke loose in the court.
Kansas State's bench right next to basically where the soldiers have blocked the shot in that area where he blocked it right underneath the basket of bench was right across from that's okay, sti benches clear.
And then they're just going at it, basically from their number four in the less bench clearing brawl.
That's when it starts.
And in in the middle of it was a couple players that they threw punches.
By the way, Bruce Weber, head coach, A.
K State and Bill Self, that head coach in Kansas.
Those two were at half court shaking hands.
When all this ensued, both of the coaches said that they didn't even, like, couldn't even tell what was going on at first when they were shaking hands because they thought that everybody else was going to go shake hands.
But no huge, huge, massive chaos brawl going out.
And in the centre of it was the Soza, once again with a player from Kansas State.
His name is James Love Now.
James Love did not play on Tuesday night.
He wasn't even in uniform.
He was wearing street clothes, by the way, in a black polo shirt.
James Love comin in the so that doesn't even know who he is, if he's just a random person out in the crowd or anything just comes in from K State's bench over two behind behind the basket in the handicapped section area, where they take out the fighting right behind the basket.
Multiple punches are thrown between the Sosa and James Love, and then after that, it was the Sosa goes back a little bit into that wheelchair accessible section, he goes back a little bit and that's where he finds a stole.
Lifts it up above his head with a stool and men.
He is so close to pulling a Miles Gary can't believe do thou is just so, so close There Kansas assistant coach, though generous.
Howard, he saved the day.
What could've been absolutely de****able, Terrible situation.
Could've been a whole lot worse for sure if the Soza gone W W E style with that stole man there, multiple.
And, um, it could've been an injury.
Could have been a couple of injuries.
There were also fans there to one of one of them was a Kansas fame with a blue sweater on.
She was grabbing the League of the SOS as he had the stool hovering above his head right up in the air.
Manage ist unfortunate that scene, but that is what's being depicted there by the photographs after that scene back on Tuesday night.
But following this ah, big brought back on Tuesday, Kansas Jayhawks athletic director Jeff Long he issued a statement.
I'm gonna let you guys know that statement.
This is quote the conduct of a few of our student athletes at the conclusion that tonight's game versus Kansas State was simply unacceptable and not reflective of who we are.
Coach Self and I will review after the incident, along with a Big 12 conference in Kansas State to determine appropriate consequences.
There's no place for this conduct in college sports or here at K u.
I would like to apologize to the Big 12 Conference Kansas State University Gene Taylor, Bruce Weber in all the fans, for the lack of sportsmanship from members of our team this evening.
That's coming from Kansas Jayhawks athletic director Jeff Long after the game.
He issued out that statement now, too.
Last night on Wednesday nights as yesterday on Wednesday night, the Big 12 Conference issued their suspensions as he suspended four players for their roles in the broad that broke out back on Tuesday.
The main one, Silvio de Sosa, who honestly, I thought would be done for the season.
In my opinion, I thought he would be done for the season.
I know some of the other people thought as ah that he should have been done as well for the season when I wasn't to a lot of the talk shows in the media.
But no, just Soza only got 12 games for her for his suspension.
So that was it, by the way.
He was suspended indefinitely by Kansas coach Bill Self on Wednesday afternoon.
When the Big 12 came down on Wednesday night, they gave him a 12 game suspension.
His teammate, David McCor**** of Kansas received a two game suspension, and these two players for Kansas State, James Love, received the eight game suspension for James Love and t Me.
Antonio Gordon, the one that stole the basketball, have got a three game suspension.
So that's the suspensions.
Therefore, players being suspended from the brawl on Tuesday night between Kansas Kansas State, the main one.
So Vo de Sosa would a 12 game suspension, his teammate David McCor****, a Kansas two games, James Love in eight game suspension and Antonio Gordon with a three game suspension.
Now, this is the interesting part.
The Sosa is still going to play this season as Kansas has 13 games remaining on their schedule.
I honestly thought he will be done for the rest of the year that he wouldn't be allowed to put back on the Kansas uniform, but the big 12 wasn't AG strict, as I had hoped for in that scenario, but the suicide won't be eligible for the Jayhawks until their season.
For now, he has a 12 game suspension and he'll be next available on March 7th, last game of the season during the regular season at Texas Tech.
So the Big 12 Commissioner Bob Bowlsby.
He also stated on the incident.
He stated This quote, this kind of behavior cannot be tolerated, and these suspensions reflect the severity of last night's events.
I'm appreciative of the cooperation of boat institutions and resolving this matter closed.
So um de Souza won't be eligible until the finale March 7 against Texas Tech.
The three other players that receive suspensions, though David McCor****, a Kansas, and James Love and Antonio Gordon vote for Kansas State's those three players.
Gordon will all be eligible for the next meeting between these two teams.
These two in state rivals meet again for their second game that they take on each other for the season that came in set for Saturday, February 29th at 1:30 p.
But that's a wrap here to the video just wanna update you guys on what happened yesterday with the suspensions coming down from the Big 12 Conference.
Honestly, I thought it would be Ah, whole lot more harsher than this. Especially.
The worst part is that it all happens in the handicap seating area of the court, which is just absolutely terrible.
Terrible to see it happen at that part of the courts.
Just not good at all. Terrible, terrible.
Look for college basketball.
What happens on Tuesday night, and hopefully these two teams have been able to, ah, just focus on the future here and put the past aside and then make good during the next match up here.
And hopefully they're just focused on the future for these two programs.
As this is wrapped in my video.
Thanks so much everybody for stopping buys.
This is a sports dish on SportsCastr.
Enjoy the rest of your night.
