What's up, people? This pat here e with your barker.
And tonight we're talking about Zion William since professional debut.
I woke up this morning feeling a lot like a kid on Christmas because I was gonna get to see Zion Williamson, the best athlete to enter the NBA's since LeBron James playing his first professional game.
Unfortunately for me, unfortunately for basketball fans around the globe, the Pelicans organization decided to play the role of the Grinch and tried to steal Christmas from us by playing Zion in these short 3 to 4 minute intervals once 1/4.
Now everyone who's ever played basketball at any level understands the importance of getting into a rhythm.
Um, and the Pelicans did not allow Zion to do that tonight.
And you really saw the rust during the 1st 3/4 when he was playing three minutes, three and 1/2 minutes, he touched the ball.
A couple of times, he tried to force it.
Dr had some uncharacteristic turnovers, evils, you know, kind of lost on defense and he made a couple nice passes, grabbed a couple nice rebounds during those 1st 3/4 but really, he just looked way off during that stretch of time.
Um, I also was very surprised that the pelicans did not play him any minutes the entire game. With J.
J Run. It is the ultimate force Pacer.
Uh, he's one of the best shooters in the N B A and E's the ideal complement to play alongside Williamson.
Yet the pelicans played him literally zero minutes with Sign with a Sigh in and J J.
Together, I would play them together for all of their minutes.
Yet the pelicans play them zero tonight.
So despite all of this basketball now practice on the part of the pelicans, Zion still found a way to be spectacular.
In the fourth quarter, there was a three minute an eight second stretch where Science Court 17 straight points, including 44 from three point Land. He was incredible.
During this stretch.
He was driving to the basket.
He's grabbed us from rebounds.
He was catching lobs from Alonzo.
He started to look like the Zion we'd seen in preseason and last year, A Duke, um, sign and finishing game with 23 points, seven rebounds, three assists in 18 minutes.
He also had five turnovers But I believe all of those turnovers came in the 1st 3/4 So it was a great performance from Zion and fourth quarter.
If I had to give him a great on the game, I have to buy for Kate that grade and give him an incomplete grade in the 1st 3/4 for the reasons I stated before about just not being able to get into a rhythm because he was only playing a few minutes at a time.
And then in the fourth quarter, I'd give him an A plus.
He was spectacular.
I mean, he owns almost won the game for the Pelicans.
They were losing by double digits, Uh, at the start of the fourth quarter, and at one point he had a three pointer. Put them up.
Um, they ended up losing game.
But I think this should be very, very excited about science.
They view this'll.
Guy's gonna be a superstar, is long seat and stay healthy.
He's gonna be one of the best players in the NBA, and I know that I'm criticizing the pelicans for their use of him and how they're kind of coddling him right now.
I do recognize that they have to think about his long term health.
But I think he showed tonight that it's time to take off the training wheels.
This kid's a thoroughbred.
Let him be Zay on.
Let him ma, take your franchise the places he's never been before.
So those are my initial reactions to science.
