place between 8 a.m. and nine.
Good morning, everybody.
And welcome it is Friday.
Friday we are here.
We are at championship weekend, and this is another episode F p c.
And I am joined, as always by my man.
Mike, how are you doing today? Are you going? Oh, whoa.
We're taking on quite the different tone here.
I mean, we were really up in it a notch here.
Well, I mean, you know, you put the high you're doing, you know, you gotta you gotta come back with, you know, it's really Though I think that the Northeast how you doing is really a little bit less of that, though, is there's not that much of this morning.
How you doing? Yeah, I don't have a very, very DeNiro in Goodfellas asking How you doing? Embarrassed them a little bit. No.
So, uh, but not in any case.
I am doing very well.
We're here on a Friday morning, definitely looking forward to a great weekend of football again.
You know, I'm still getting used to it and still still dealing with it.
Still learning toe channel.
My anger somehow, but not too great games on the slate.
All kidding aside is gonna be a lot of fun and a great championship weekend on tap.
Yeah, and look, we spent a lot of time the last couple of days talking about each game we've brought on Kyle Center, R F P C Packers managing editor.
And of course, we had Great and Holly check on yesterday talking chiefs and tightens.
And he is R f p c Chiefs managing editor.
So if you haven't heard those go ahead, check it out.
You can watch the replay on SportsCastr.
Of course, the podcast is also available on Apple Spotify.
All those great places.
You know, all those platforms there's too many to lessen.
I don't really feel like listening them all you can.
You can figure out for yourself, but search FBC Radio live and you'll be able to find the podcast on Listen back and listen as many times as possible, like just over and over and over again.
I'm sure you'll enjoy it every single time.
So, um so, yeah, we spent a lot of time talking about those games last couple days.
Ah, today, today, today we're gonna touch on a few things that, you know may have updated over the last couple days.
We can kind of, you know, comment on a few things that, of course, we talked about this week and and want to elaborate on and last.
But, Linda, at least we're going to give some bold predictions.
And, of course, our game pics of which, Mike, you better be picking the exact opposite of the way I'm picking because there is no way you're gonna be able to catch up priority.
There is no way we're gonna be able to catch up.
But you know what? I will always go with logic and reason over anything else.
My esteemed friend over here.
Then you know what? I might just have to take one for the team, folks, but no, we will give You are honest opinions, and we can't wait to share those with you coming up.
And I may give you an opportunity if if I if I know you as well as I I think I know you.
I think I'm going to give you an opportunity steal back game.
But, you know, that's that's just a little little tidbit.
I'm previewing potential potential upsets in championship weekend.
I'm just going to say, you know, maybe maybe we differ on both games.
You never could be.
You never know what happened.
We welcome it could have good.
We'll find out later in the show, though.
That means you have to tune in for the whole, uh, 43 minutes left to find out.
So roughly about 40 minutes, maybe earlier.
Maybe we'll get impatient and just jump into the pics.
Excuse me in about 10 minutes, and then we'll just go from there, but, um no.
First off, a little bit of housecleaning, I guess.
Uh, Travis Kelsey kind of Papa are Travis Kelsey.
And I apologize.
George Kittle popped up on the injury report this week with an ankle.
He is a guy that we focused on quite a bit for the 40 Niners and and rightfully so.
I mean, he's a guy on offense that really makes this team going.
Is, is such a mismatch across? Oh, you know, quite a bit of Ah, he offers a lot of mismatches for the the 40 Niners.
Let's put it that way.
And you know that I believe they expect him to go.
However, that is a injury that's worth monitoring, because if he's not 100% then that could That could definitely work very much in the favor of the Green Bay Packers.
Without question, uh, you know, I did a little digging yesterday.
Apparently, Kyle Shanahan has said that George Kiddo will be available in this game, that he does not anticipate that he will miss it.
So at this point, you can count on Kittle being in the lineup.
The question like you said is, How effective is he going to be? Is he going to be able to get the cuts more on the rocks that he needs to be ableto run and block? Don't forget, if you have any type of lower body injury, namely a knee or ankle or a foot, it's very difficult to push off.
It's very difficult to get the blocking leverage that Kiddo is known for.
To me, I think that makes him the more complete tight end in the league than a guy like Travis Kelsey.
So if this comes down to a factor of him not being able to be effective in running routes or being able to push off that is significant.
You absolutely nailed it.
And that could be a problem for the 40 Niners, kiddo.
It's such a huge part of what this team does offensively, especially when you have ah, prolific running game like this would like the 40 Niners have.
That opens up the ability for the tight ends to get open, and it causes a nightmarish matchup on defense when you have a tight end and a running game that really are able to hurt you in both ways, we saw the New England Patriots do it for a number of years here, my friend.
We know about that type of offense, and it's something that Kyle Shanahan has definitely ingrained in this team.
I think if you're the Green Bay Packers right now, you have to look at it and say we've had difficulty covering the tight end.
If Kittle is not 100% all of a sudden, maybe some of those wolves go away.
So, uh, definitely worth keeping a sharp eye on over the next.
You know, 24 to 48 hours until game time, folks.
But this could be a little more significant than people are thinking, but ultimately he will be out there.
So don't look for him to miss this game.
But it'll just be interesting to see how effective will be.
Yeah, and even if they get him at limited capacity is such a great athlete and talent that, you know, it's he's still gonna have a tremendous impact on this game because, you know, having watched a guy like Rob Gronkowski for years, even at his most limited physically, he was always a mismatch because you always had to pay attention to him and you couldn't let me just go free and then, you know, at the same time, if he can't get out there and run around T.
C, he's an incredible blocker.
So he helps that way.
And it certainly drives Jimmy G.
So, um, regardless, if he's out there, it's a positive for the 40 Niners, even at ah, you know, 80% 75% you know, no matter what it is, you do bring up a great point, though the ankle is ah, you know those air concerning problems just because again it affects your ability to plant in turn and cut.
And those those seconds that that you lose trying to make up for that could be a huge difference in perhaps maybe a turnover or a you know, an incomplete pass on along third down.
So we'll see how it impacts it.
Um, you know, again, it's something toe worth monitor, monitor.
It's worth monitoring.
Like you said, it seems like he's going to play, so that's certainly some good news.
On the flip side, Chris Jones for The Chief still continues to miss practice, and his, um, availability on Sunday is something that it's still very much up in the air.
And I think this is a monumental absence for the Chiefs.
If if he's not able to, um, go and I say that because for a couple of reasons, one obviously ah, clogging up the middle his ability to prevent you know, you know, limit the rushing ability of any running back, let alone the league's leading.
Russia is paramount to chief success, and he's he's so good he's not in there.
It's obviously gonna create a little bit of ah, a softer area for Derrick Henry to run through, and we know that he's fairly capable of running through a few things, including walls, cement, um, buildings.
There's a few things Iron Fair, right? I wanted that from Armageddon.
He could run through that, actually, as according to ah, my sources.
So ah, it's gonna take quite a bit to make up for the loss of Chris Jones.
If that is the case.
And on the flip side, on the flip side, if you don't have what you're used to in the middle all of a sudden, you gotta compensate.
Maybe you don't have quite that.
Ah edge integrity as you would have if Christians was in there and and Derrick Henry on the edges when he gets when he gets those corners averaging six yards per carry on those runs.
So, um, again, Chris Jones And we talked about this with braid in yesterday.
He's a huge, huge, huge piece of this Kansas City defense.
And if he's not able to go, um, I'd be very much very concerned if I were the Chiefs.
I think again, you know, they'll get the nail right on the head.
I'm gonna ride today What you are.
You're You're on a roll.
You are really really hitting these these points, Like, amazingly, it's It's just that, uh, it's not remarkable if that's what you do every single day.
You seem to be overly impressed with my with this, you know, maybe maybe I'm just Maybe this is it.
This is it for me.
I should just stop after this because I'll never hit this high again.
No, I wouldn't quite say that.
In any case, I think you're absolutely right.
I think that Jones injury is more significant to Kansas City than the kettle is due.
Thio the 40 Niners.
You mentioned a couple of things about Kittel and is not being 100% still having the opportunity to be a factor in this game.
I think Jones, if he's hampered at all, is going to really hurt the Kansas City defense.
Especially at that position.
You mentioned Derrick Henry and out he's able to get the corners go for big yardage.
He can plow through the middle if it's a situation where they feel it's better for him to attack the middle at this point because they want to go with Jones.
I think that's a non option to.
This is a significant injury for them.
It didn't necessarily come back to bite them against the Houston Texans because they were able to control the Sean wants and in the second half, and the Texans were able to, you know, are the Texans were actually forced to utilize their aerial game more than anything else.
Tennessee, their bread and butter is there, run in game and they have the ability to run the ball straight on.
They have the ability to run the ball by hitting the corners.
So this is a potentially significant development this weekend in something that if I'm achieves fan or a Titan's fan, I'm keeping a sharp eye on keeping Ah look and see what Jones can do because I at the end of the day think he'll be in there.
I just think it's going to be a case of how effective he is going to be and with the type of injury that he has for a defensive tackle.
It's a very difficult injury to play through and to play through with any type of effectiveness.
So something to keep an eye on folks, this could be interesting.
Yeah, and and that's the thing to.
And you made a great point.
Um, his loss against the Texans isn't as crucial ah as it is against, you know, if he were not to not play against the Titans and and that's really the big difference here because again, um, if if they can, if the Titans can play their game, you know, they very much have a shot to win this game.
And and, um, you know, and I'm not you know what? I don't want to rework that, because that makes it seem like they, you know, it's a long shot, But no, I I legitimately think that regardless, if if he's in there or not, they're gonna have a shot to win this game.
But if he's not in that lineup, I would almost give the advantage to the Titans just because of what they've been able to do the last couple of games like we've said it before, 377 yards from Derrick Henry through the first two playoff games, he's on a streak of ah, three straight games of over 180 yards rushing.
Um, he's just a guy that's just on a roll right now and he's, you know, again, this isn't a fluke.
I mean, he's the league's leading rusher, so he's been doing this all season.
But there's a lot of other players that have gotten, you know, the publicity and all that.
But, um, you know, if he just gets a chance to get rolling early, that this this could be a very long day for the Chiefs, and I I assure you, Trust me, I will.
I put a lot of money on the low.
Maybe not because I don't like the bet because that means there's a chance I'm gonna lose in a very good chance I'm gonna lose.
But I I would theoretically, hypothetically put a lot of money on the fact that Mike Vrabel and the Titans are not going to make the same awful, awful, awful parenthesis.
Ah, career changing decisions that Bill O'Brien and the Texans coaching staff made throughout that game, most notably obviously it trying to go for it on that punt attempt which which failed miserably and of course, you know, set off the you know, everything that that kind of just unraveled there over the next few minutes.
So um so for me, Yeah.
If the Titans can play their game, this is gonna be a long day for the Chiefs, and I I just don't know if they're able to overcome that, because again, this is you know, I think a lot of people are assuming that the Titans, they're just kind of in there, but maybe not luck, but they're just not on the same level a cz, the chief's.
But look, they beat the Chiefs.
I mean, this is a team that beat them.
So, you know, let's let's not pretend like there's a huge gap in talent and you could sit there and make an argument that, you know, maybe outside of quarterback the Titans might be better.
And, uh, you know, maybe, Ah, wide receiver here in there and ah, we'll see.
And, uh, we're going.
I think I have a few fun, bold predictions for this game.
We'll get to in a little bit, yeah, and I think that we're all looking forward to that.
That a lot of be a lot of fun, But in any case, I think again you mentioned great point about Mike Vrabel on the coaching staff were able does not scare that easily. I think Bill O'Brien.
There have been times where you looked at his coaching staff, and it's very reactionary.
I think that's something that might Rabel inherited more from Bill Belichick when it came to Temperance Prudence.
Looking at the game style and go and making the best call in the moment and not necessarily worrying about what is gonna happen to three plays down the line.
Obviously, you have to coach the game with an eye on the future.
There's no question about it.
But if you're not living in the present at the moment, that future move could be a moot point.
And we saw that on Sunday with Bill O'Brien.
So that's where I think Tennessee does have the advantage in terms of coaching in terms of making decisions again.
They really do have a good shot at winning this game, and I don't think it's a long shot or an underdog, you know, situation by ah, good amount.
I think this is gonna be a much more evenly matched in a much closer game than people are anticipating.
Well, remember to, I mean, there's obviously there's a huge coaching difference between the two.
But there's also a massive difference, especially in the secondary.
Whereas the Texans, they you know they were.
You know, we listen to our friend Terence Big.
So the time talk about Gary on Conley and, ah, there's an interesting stat that popped up on Twitter.
And there's been two times or three times in the past, like 56 years or whatever that.
Ah, quarterback its own.
Four touchdowns in 1/4.
Ah, and that's happened twice this season by Patrick for Homes.
And the common denominator between you two was Gary and Conley was in coverage both times, Um, so it kind of speaks to the talent or lack there of in the text in secondary.
And when you talk about the Titans, it's 180 degree difference.
You, Logan, Ryan, Kevin, buyers of Kenny Vaccaro.
All these guys not only are the really good players, but they're making players right now.
Um, I talked about it after the Patriots lost.
I think one of the biggest place of that game was Kenny Vaccaro.
Play on the Seenu deep, Paul.
Ah, it looked like it was a good pass from Brady.
It looks like the new had beaten the coverage and, you know, had enough step to get in front of that cornerback.
But Kenny Vaccaro comes flying across the field and gets his arm on that ball and knocks it away.
And and again, Um, you know, you don't think about it too much at the time, but that just kind of epitomizes the the opportunistic and and well coached secondary that they have.
And, you know, this is without Malcolm Butler, who, you know, you could argue, is one of their better cornerback.
So Ah, but Logan Ryan, he's been a He's been a beast back.
They're the secondary.
The safeties have been talented, and they they're certainly capable of limiting this chiefsoffense.
Now, I'll ask you, what do you think is their biggest priority? Is it going to be Travis Kelsey or Tyreke Ill? Because I think you have to pick one or the two and then you work off of that except very similar to what the Patriots would do take out, you know, take out their best weapon.
Which weapon is gonna hurt the titans and most.
And then, you know, you deal the rest, and if someone else beat your someone else features.
So, um, I'll put you on the spot.
Who do you think they focus on Kelsey or tell you we kill in this situation? It's a pick.
I mean, when you look at it when you take a look at who you're going to stop, are you gonna try to stop the quick route or you gonna try to stop the long, you know, plotted out ability to make catches and then find your way down the field? Obviously, Hill is one of the quickest wide receivers, one of the fastest wide receivers in the game.
He's a dynamic type player.
When he gets going, he can run with the best of them.
And he could pretty much beat anybody in coverage.
Man to man, Kelsey is such a difficult cover for all the stuff that we like to give him about the blocking and about, you know, some of the you know, the comments that are made in comparisons about him and Gronk he are He is truly one of the best, wide receiving, uh, tight ends in the game.
There's no question about it.
So if I'm Tennessee, I'm looking to contain at this point, I'm looking to contract contained Tell Kelsey, and the reason why I say that is it is the point that you and Brady brought up yesterday is Kelsey is such a security blanket for Patrick Holmes.
He's gonna be looking to him when things are Tennessee is going to show him some different looks that Front seven is capable of confusing the quarterback.
I don't have a whole lot of confidence in the Kansas City offensive line to protect my home's the way they're going to need the way he's gonna need that protection against the Tennessee Titans.
So because he's gonna get different looks and you may be confused a little at the line of scrimmage, he's gonna be looking to dump passes off early to a security blanket.
If you Q in on him and you take him out all of a sudden, it might be difficult.
Tyree kill in stride.
Tyree kills gonna take off.
He's gonna be running his routes.
If you're in any way hampered bite, you're throwing motion or any anything gets thrown off in that mode, it's gonna be so difficult for you to find your targets downfield.
So if on the Tennessee Titans, my priority one is gonna be containing Kelsey Yeah, it's so difficult to say like, Well, that may open things up and they may be able to get a guy on Tyree kill that might leave Hill open.
And if it does, that could lead to big yardage in certain situations.
But ultimately, if I'm the Tennessee Titans, I'm taking a page out of the New England Patriots playbook last year in the NFC championship game.
Look at what they did in the first half.
They were able to confuse my homes.
They were able to keep him off guard.
They did cover Kelsey very well.
Hill was open in that game a couple of times, and Mahomes missed him.
If I'm Mike Vrabel, I'm watching that video.
I'm queuing in on the first half, and I'm looking at what the Patriots didn't saying.
This is what we have to do, and we have to keep it up for 60 minutes this time.
Yeah, and and I agree with you.
I think Kelsey is the bigger issue overall, but obviously easier said than done and we wait.
Yeah again, e I think if you limit Kelsey, then I think you tend to make it far more difficult for Patrick the homes.
And again, we both agree that he has an immense amount of talent, and it's certainly trending.
Ah, as as being one of the best quarterbacks in the league for quite some time.
But, um, again, that's why when I when people sit there and and want to put him as the best quarterback in the league already, I tell them, You know, relax a little bit because you know, there are things that he's still learning.
He's still learning how to play this game at a high level in the highest pressure situations.
And we've seen at times him struggle, especially when things don't necessarily go to plan.
Now he has the ability to create anything out of nothing.
That's not the case, but that's not.
That's on a way you can consistently succeed in the NFL.
You can't you know you have to have a strategy.
You have to have an ability to um systematically approached.
His receivers aren't as open and all that, because I mean, you know, there's certain metrics that back it up, whether it's Ah, next Gen stats or whatever.
But he throws a lot of short passes into a lot of to a lot of wide open receivers, and and a lot of that has to do with the talent around him.
And a lot of it has to do with his ability to again.
I cannot stress enough that I'm not trying to knock him.
This is me just saying like he's a young quarterback that's still developing.
So this idea that he's already at the level of guys like obviously Brady, Rodgers, Brees, all those guys is a little bit premature because we don't know how he's going to react to some of these issues that are gonna face him in these championship games or in these playoff games, or or maybe in a year or two when he doesn't have Kelsey and Hill and Michael Harmon or or maybe the count level around him is a little bit on the more mediocre side as opposed to elite levels.
So these are all questions that you really can't answer until you see what happens and you have to get a good sample size of that.
We just don't have it at this point.
So, um, again, this isn't meant to be a A.
Well, Patrick Jones isn't as good.
It's just no, just putting people in, giving them the proper context in which to to judge hits play.
Because again, if if he misses one past, all of a sudden, no, he sucks.
He's a young quarterback, you know. He's evolving.
He's learning, you know.
And in the same way you can't over overly criticize what he does.
You can't overly praise things that he hasn't done yet.
Or, uh, things of that nature.
So, um, for the Titans, it's it's important.
You have to take away Travis Kelsey because then all of a sudden he just has a few wide receivers, and he doesn't have that difference maker that game changer because, yeah, the Titans have some tight ends.
Other teams utilized tight ends.
But there's only a few tight ends in the league that really give you an advantage against any team in any defense.
And that's guys like Kelsey and Kittle.
Um, so slow down, Travis Kelsey work everything around.
After that, you know you can worry about Tyra kill if he catches a couple of big passes, so be it.
I I'll put my money on the Titans secondary to keep them in check for a majority of the game.
Very good point.
And that's the other key to is that the Titans secondary Much better.
And you alluded to this earlier.
They're much better at being able to cover.
Then the Texan secondary.
Was there a lot of studs in that backfield for the Tennessee Titans? They know how to do that. They know how to defend.
So to me, Uh, that's that's the key matchup.
And I think we're both in agreement on that when it comes to trying to contain contained Kelsey early.
I think that's the big Kiefer for Tennessee right now.
Yeah, and, ah, so that I I'll put you on the spot here.
So we talked about Derrick Henry for the Titans on their offense, and I think he obviously helps the engine go.
Ryan Tannehill is, uh, I kind of feel is a guy that they've held back a little bit the last couple weeks and he's due for a pretty solid game.
I'm not talking 3 400 yards, five touchdowns, but you know maybe.
Maybe, you know, maybe he he throws a couple touchdowns.
But I think, you know, again, it always is going to begin and with Derrick Henry.
So I gotta ask you, Ah, you think he's gonna and I saw this on on a website and I can't remember which one it was. So I apologize.
I can't get the plug, but 145 141 and 1/2 rushing yards for Derrick Henry Over or under that, Do you think he's going to get against Kansas City? Oh, remember, remember, three straight games, 180 yards rushing to games in the playoffs so far, 377 yards total.
You know, the law of averages would probably say he won't simply because he's done it the last couple of games and he's probably due for a lesser game.
You can also make the argument like you said about Tannehill, maybe coming out of a shell a little bit and having a little bit more of a prolific passing game.
I'm still going over on this one.
I think he's going thio.
I believe he will, and again, it's because of what we talked about earlier with Chris Jones.
If he's in any way hampered, and by all accounts, he's going to be at least less than 100%.
And that's probably the best case scenario.
I think Tennessee attacks that all day long on I think they ride Derrick Henry for as long as they can.
The legs are in good shape.
No sign of any worse for the wear.
Um, and you have to go with what works.
And that's why I say I would still go over on this one, folks.
Yeah, when I saw the number, I thought that was a pretty easy over because it's like, Yeah, of course.
Derrick Henry is going to get 100 41 yards for us.
I agree with you.
I really I mean, you made a lot of great point.
So, you know, there's really not much more I can add unless it's just me going blah, blah, blah, blah, blah.
So I'll move on and I'll ask you the next question I have before we give our picks for this game because I'm actually kind of eager to ah, pick this game since we've kind of focused on it here the last 10 minutes or so.
So, um, who do you think's gonna have more rushing yards between the quarterbacks? Ryan Tannehill for Patrick Holmes.
You know, they're both capable of running the ball.
Um, if need be, they don't run first, but they certainly have the ability to pick up some ah yards on the ground.
So what do you think's going to, ah, pick up more yards in this game between the two of them? In terms of capability, I would say it's a wash.
I'd say both of these guys are capable of scrambling.
I don't think Tannehill gets nearly enough credit for his ability to use his legs, But he can run folks.
He can tuck the ball and be able to get yardage.
The reason why I'm going with Patrick Mahomes here is because I believe that the Titans running game is so predicated on Derrick Henry.
If they're gonna run the ball, I believe that's gonna be their strategy.
If you're going to see Tannehill do it, it's probably gonna be more out of necessity than game plan.
Mahomes led his team in rushing last week to a lot of people forget that stat.
They look at the touchdown passes, they look a TTE, you know, everything that he did and, you know, in turning water into wine when it came to that game.
But he led the way.
He led that team with seven carries for 53 yards east, capable of carrying the load.
That's why I believe that if Tennessee decides that they want to try to shut down the passing attack, you may need to see Holmes football and running every now and then and try to keep Tennessee's defense off guard.
So I say homes ends up with more rushing yards on Sunday, then Ryan Tannehill for that simple reason.
No, ah ah, it's a great point.
And I think again, moans.
Ability to pick up yards on the ground obviously gets overshadowed by his passing prowess.
And rightfully so.
I mean, that's gonna be the you know, it's a quarterback, so you know you gotta throw the ball.
You know, it's not about running the ball.
Um, g I I Ah, I figured OK, OK, let's do this because I I do have a bold prediction for this game, and it kind of leads into.
But my prediction is so, um, this is what I'll do.
I'll give you my bold prediction and and then I'll give you my pick for the game.
If you have a bold prediction, Mike, or any sort of wacky prediction, you go for it, and then you give me my your pick.
So, um, and then we can react and then jump into the next game because I think that will be fun.
So we talked big about Travis Kelsey and how you know how good he is and how important he is.
He had three touchdowns last week.
Um, he has three straight playoff games right now with a touchdown and over 100 yards receiving something like that.
So my bold prediction is, Travis Kelsey catches.
Do you think I'm gonna go here? Do you think? Is it gonna be? Ah, over or under? We'll see.
So Travis Kelsey goes out there and he catches exactly all right.
I can't find it.
So 0.0 touchdown passes.
I really got to get these quotes a little bit more organized.
You know, I'm bouncing.
Here we go. Certainly more. No, no, no.
That's Bruce Cassidy way point there.
There is Dean War II know, trying.
I'm trying to do 16 different things at once, and it's tough sometimes.
I I I talked quicker than I think.
So I started jumping into these points and I realize, Oh, crap.
I should have probably set myself up for that.
But my friend here needs an intern, folks, definitely.
We've discussed that any and all that right Patients to be sent.
Those must be motivated and willing to work.
Odd, strange hours, No zero touchdown catches for Travis Kelsey, which might give away a little bit where I'm going here.
And yes, Mike, I am that crazy.
If you're If you're wondering, uh, I think that the Tennessee Titans are going to, uh, fluster.
I think they're going to control this game, and I think they're going to ah, beat the Kansas City Chiefs.
Yes, that's right, Travis Kelsey will not be able to get going in this game.
I think Patrick Mahoney is gonna have a tough time finding the open receivers finding that that good chunk yardage plays.
I think we saw a little bit of that happening last week until the Texans just decided tow, you know, not keep doing what they were doing.
And, ah, I I think the times we're going to win this game and I I believe that it's a lot of it has to do with the fact that I think Travis Kelsey is probably gonna have one of his worst playoff games and and not because, you know he's gonna play necessarily poorly on his own.
It's gonna be a lot to do with what the Tennessee Titans, um, do to him on the field.
So my final prediction.
The Titans 27 the Chiefs 24.
Very, very, very interesting.
And, you know, we are like minded in a lot of situations here because I will say this about Kelsey.
I do believe Tennessee finds a way to contain end, to keep him mostly out of the end zone.
I don't necessarily believe they'll completely keep him out of the end zone.
I think Kelsey is a very adept receiver.
I think he'll find a way to get in, but I don't think you're going to see the explosion of points that we saw last week.
I think a lot of people are looking at that.
Surely, if you're Kansas City Chiefs fan, you have a euphoric feeling going into this game.
They're like, Oh, this is like Caligula looking at the Roman Empire.
This is that this is the greatest thing that's ever happened.
We are going to feast, and we're going to fit and everything is gonna be good.
And we're already on our way to Miami, and it's certainly not gonna be the case.
Tennessee can hang with this team and they're going to.
And because of that, my bold prediction is I think you're going to see Patrick Holmes throw a couple of I n tease this weekend.
I think he's going to try to force the ball a lot into some of these receivers when he can't find Kelsey Open.
And I think that leads to a couple of interceptions.
I'm going to year, maybe even one for a pick six.
But I'm not quite going that involved.
I'm just gonna sit there.
My prediction is that he will throw a couple of my auntie's this weekend.
That being said, I still think that at the end of the day, the hometown crowd and the homes ability to find open guys in the field because it's not just Tyree killing cat Travis Kelsey.
That can hurt you on this team.
It is a guy like Sammy Watkins who we haven't talked about.
It is a guy like me, Cole Harmon, who I start on hard.
And when he was in the draft, he came in for a workout in New England again.
Folks, I know I'm bringing things back to New England, but I have to do that clouded by the way.
But But I did do a lot of scouting on him in the draft in the days leading up to it. And I loved him.
Attention target for the Patriots in the in the draft this year because of that type of speed that they hadn't at the wide receiver position in quite some time, Hartman can break.
We've seen him do it, and I think he finds a way because of that.
I think the Kansas City Chiefs pull this out.
I do believe that it's gonna be a very tough game and I think it's gonna be a tight game, would not shock me to see the Titans come in here and beat them because they could do it.
But at the end of the day, I still go with the Chiefs almost by the same score, man 28 to 24.
I have the Kansas City Chiefs winning and moving on to punch their ticket to Super Bowl 54 nights and and see, I I kind of assumed you're going with the Chiefs.
And and again, I was I was feeling pretty good last week for 15 minutes when I picked Texan.
So So maybe maybe I'm doing the Oh, God, Maybe I'm doing the bizarro nick right? Right now, I'm just willing the chiefs to lose.
But at least you know, they have lost in recent memory and haven't won a super Well, you know, it could be a little bit of reverse psychology that I'm trying here, too.
Oh, I haven't exactly been a right on myself, so that's true.
Maybe maybe this is a sinister pick.
No, I I like it.
And you know what? I'm going to go with it because I know deep down it pains you.
It'll pain youto watch.
Ah, the Kansas City Chiefs and the Super Bowl.
And that's that's with all apologies to all the good cheese fans out there in which we know about three of them.
So, um, moving on moving on since we got that out of the light of recap if you know, work watching, or if you're listening on full press radio.
Not in the SportsCastr chat room.
I picked the Titans.
Mike went Chiefs 28 Titans 24.
First game of the first game of the afternoon, and I think it'll be fun.
It'll be exciting, and I hope, And I think you hope I'm right too.
You're very professional, Mike.
You know, you're you're unflappable, Really.
I mean, it's it's impressive, but I think deep down in the back of your mind and in your heart, you hope I'm right.
So, uh, you might be right.
You might be right about that.
To answer without answering.
Um, moving on. We got the CI Archie's.
We just talked about cheese.
No, we got the 40 Niners hosting the Green Bay Packers, and in in really? I mean, it was a lot of story lines to go along with it.
Obviously, the top two seeds in the conference, it's It's like the fifth year in a row that that's happened in the NFC.
The ah, the Packers are obviously trying to get back to the Super Bowl for the first time in a decade.
Ah, they've obviously got to the NFC championship game.
A few times the 40 Niners were just in the Super Bowl back and 20 to Ah, 2013 January or February 2013.
So not too too long ago, but but a completely different regime at the time under Jim and Jim Harbaugh, Barkat, Colin Kaepernick and the like and all that stuff.
So, um, is gonna be a fascinating matchup for me, because again, I think it does.
Ah, I think this this game is heavily in the 40 Niners favor, and I like Aaron Rodgers, and I like what this Packers team has done.
I just think we're gonna We're not necessarily going to get exactly what we got earlier in the season between these two teams, but I don't think that the Packers are gonna close the gap enough to be able to win this game.
Overall, S o, I guess.
Ah, I mean again, Mike, my pick of the 40 Niners has been out there because again, I've been saying that they're going to the soup bowls.
I'll give you my scoring just a little bit later.
We would wind down some of these, um, discussions about this game, but I just I just look at this 40 Niners team and how complete they really are top to bottom.
And And yes, I do think the quarterback in Green Bay is better than the quarterback in San Francisco.
And I think that's Ah, there's a lot to be said about the experience and obviously, you know, having gun in won a Super Bowl as the starter and as a team as an underdog like the Green Bay Packers, I think it's very impressive.
Um, but however top to bottom skill position wise defense wise especially.
I think the 40 Niners are just the better team.
Um, you know, sometimes that's just the case, and I think we've seen that for a majority of the season of the games they played the closest we're games against teams like the Seahawks, which inter Inter divisional games that it's really you can't You can't put a lot of stock into some of those.
You know, We we know that from one to the Patriots, especially against a team like the Seahawks that you know no matter what, These games are always close.
I mean, the 40 Niners were bad and the Seahawks were really good in These Games were close, the 40 Niners were good and the Seahawks weren't great in.
These Games are close.
So no matter where those two teams are in the standings, they're going to play close.
They just so happen to be at the top of the NFC in the NFC West.
So it was a good barometer in that sense, but really that the 40 Niners have just been really the best team almost from start to finish this year.
I think the Ravens obviously picked up some some steam there, but they were.
They were out fairly quickly, so you know, we've kind of forgotten about them.
But for the most part that the 40 Niners the defense's has led the charge and they've had a very, uh, exciting offense at times.
And with the emergence of of a guy like Debo Samuel.
Wait here in the year to go along with Emmanuel Sanders to go along with George Kittel and and all those guys.
It's It's a it's a it's pretty potent unit and I expect it to continue this week.
I think it will continue this week.
I think from start to finish, San Francisco has been the most complete team in the NFC from start to finish.
Its like it for the reasons that you said and I believe that you know, the addition that they made of Emmanuel Sanders into this offense definitely helped them.
It took pressure off of the running game.
They had been so predicated on the run that teams were starting to be able to figure them out a little bit ins.
They stop the run and they won't be able to beat us through the air.
Well, with Sanders, the emergence of Debo Samuel, the threat of George Kill being able to catch passes in the open field is something that really makes them a dual threat.
And when you have a two headed running back monster like the San Francisco 40 Niners do in Tevin Coleman and Madame Breda.
They could break.
They can absolutely caused some problems for you in the running game.
They do have a quarterback that is very capable of making plays when he needs to know.
I know a lot of people are reticent to give Jimmy Garoppolo any type of praise, but you have to praise him for the way he's played this year when they've needed him to come up big.
He's come up big, and that's something that you can't teach on the other side of the coin.
Definitely, I agree with you.
Green Bay has the advantage when it comes to quarterbacks.
No one's gonna sit here and say Jimmy is a better quarterback on this day than Aaron Rodgers.
Aaron Rodgers is a prolific quarterback, one of the greatest of all time, and he's earned that title.
But at the same time, I believe that the amount of ways San Francisco is able to beat you outweighs what Green Bay brings to the table.
I like the fact that they do have an improved defense.
We've mentioned the Smith brothers a couple of times, President Smith's A Darius Smith, no relation, but in any case, I love using that line from die hard.
This is other Agent Johnson relation, but in any case, I I digress.
Well, I had to do that.
But in any case, I like what they've done defensively.
I know a lot of Packers fans have pointed to the fact that Bryan Bulaga was not a big factor in the first game.
As a matter of fact, I think he only took a couple of stamps and then went out of that game against the San Francisco 40 Niners.
Ah, he wasn't active, and at that point, they do have him back now when he is healthy.
I believe that does make the Backers chances better of keeping this game close.
But at the same time, the 40 Niners defense is a lot more healthy as well, folks.
Kwon Alexander, D four.
These are guys that have battled injuries throughout the year There, back in there, they're making their presence felt.
So I think that the return of a guy like Bulaga helps the Packers, but it's offset by the fact.
But now the 40 Niners haven't even healthier defense.
Then they had the first time around, so I think based on that you have to give the balance to other 40 Niners in this one as well.
Yeah, look, they got six sacks against Minnesota last week as a team, Um, and I think we're going to see similar type numbers, because if there's, there's one fault that that's kind of been a constant for Aaron Rodgers throughout his career is, um, he tends to take a lot of sacks, and that's regardless of whether or not the old line is good or it's bad.
It just kind of depends on the amount that he takes.
But he is prone to taking a sack here and there, and I think that's what's ultimately gonna be the huge difference in this game.
I think the 40 Niners are gonna be able to get back, get after Aaron Rodgers and really limit what they could do because they do have some talent on that offense.
No doubt Aaron Jones, Davante Adams.
Some of the younger receivers that you know have made some plays down the stretch here, but ultimately, I think it's about what San Francisco doesn't defense the limit that Green Bay offense R and ah, you know, on the flip side, I think that the their ability to move the ball, especially when they get that momentum off the defense, is going to be.
It's going to be pretty good. Jimmy J.
Just has to protect the ball.
And I think the 40 Niners are going to ah, are going to, ah, do pretty well.
So I guess this isn't quite a you know, it's not a It's a bold prediction, but it's not a crazy, bold prediction.
Aaron Rodgers has thrown at least two touchdown passes and five straight postseason games.
I don't think he does that today.
I think at the most, you'll for one in what will be a ah a fairly ah, I don't want I don't know if I want to call it decisive Ah, agree are Ah, 40 Niners victory.
But I have the 40 Niners winning this game, 31 to 21 I do think that the Packers perhaps pick up one of those three touchdowns fairly late in the game when it's out of control.
So I do think that the Packers are the 40 Niners control this game.
For the most part, Um, it's not it's gonna It's not gonna be a steam roll like it was last time these two teams met.
However, I don't think it's gonna be anywhere closer in terms of score.
I think the Packard, the 40 Niners are gonna win this game fairly easily.
It might be, uh, close for a little bit, but I think they're gonna run.
Run away with it ultimately and it's gonna be 31 21.
And if I am right, we're going to have a Jimmy Garoppolo Ryan Tannehill Super Bowl.
And there goes My cat just comes crashing down.
Hopefully, cats all except well, yeah, Ryan Tannehill's go. Exactly.
I mean, they she was. She was flabbergasted.
She fell off her.
Ah, little perch there.
Actually, that's probably what it was.
I'll be honest. That's the reaction.
I'm probably getting across that all the people listening to the show.
But no, we will unfortunately avoid the insufferable, which would be a rematch of Super Bowl.
One coined that phrase, and hopefully people pick up on it because who wants to see the Chiefsfirst first Packers outside of cheese and Packers fans? That that's the worst case scenario, especially for Patriots fans.
Little let's Let's be clear.
So, uh, I do got San Francisco winning 31 21.
Um, they will be back in the Super Bowl, and I agree.
I believe San Francisco, at the end of the day, does enough to be able to contain Rogers be able to contain Aaron Jones in the running game.
The way that defense is playing will prevent them from putting prolific points on the board.
I still think Green Bay is able to score a little bit here, but ultimately I really like the opportunities that thesis on Francisco 40 Niners offense is going to be able to put up again.
We talked about George Kittle.
We talked about him not being 100%.
I don't think it's going to matter.
I think he's still going to be able to make catches when he needs to.
It's gonna open things up in play action for that running game.
Maybe they won't be the traditional ground and pound the way we've seen them.
I think Kevin Coleman, Matt Breda have big games as well.
Also look for guys like Debo Samuel Emmanuel Sanders to get their catches that they'll find the end zone.
I like the San Francisco 49 is in this when I like them by a final of 35 to 24 over the Green Bay Packers.
Okay, so we both agree on that.
So again, we do differ on the A F C championship game.
So, to recap, I picked Italians, uh, 27. 24.
Uh, might pick the Chiefs 28 24 then we both pick San Francisco by by relatively the same score.
I mean, I got him lose winning by 10.
You got him winning by 11.
So, um, we just gave each team few few extra points here, so Ah, folks, we appreciate you guys tuning in all week. We're excited.
