is Ashley Young leaving Manchester United? It certainly looks that way.
The defender has been with United for nine years, made 261 appearances, scored 19 goals and assisted 43 since joining from Aston Villa in 2011.
But January and indeed next summer it does look like he is bound for Inter Milan to reunite with a couple of united Castoffs.
Alexis Sanchez and Romelu Lukaku are plying their trade it Inter Milan right now, Antonio Conte leading that team towards the top of the table and Ashley Young has been tempted by the idea of being able to win a title in Italy and kind of leave a tough situation in Manchester United.
But the move is not materializing as quickly as the defender would like.
He wanted a move in January.
So did Inter Milan and they were willing to pay a fee despite the fact that his contract is up in just six months and he could sign on a free in the summer.
He rejected a one year contract extension from Manchester United that would have kept him at the club for one more year on his current £110,000 a week wage.
But the bright lights of Inter Milan are tempting the club captain of Manchester United, who has made just 10 Premier League starts this season.
Luke Sean Brandon Williams have become more prominent in the side.
But an injury to Luke Shaw made it necessary for Manchester United to try to hold on to the veteran defender that left back roll with less cover than what they had planned.
And so actually Young had his move to Inter Milan blocked.
They tried to up the fee.
But it seems despite the fact that Inter and Ashley Young have agreed personal terms on a salary much higher than what he's getting at Manchester United, the clubs haven't agreed terms for him to join in January, so it looks like he is set to join on a free in the summer.
If personal terms are agreed, then as soon as that as soon as that is over.
As soon as the negotiations air done that that pretty much puts that to bed.
But the clubs haven't agreed on on anything to join in January, so he is going to have to hold off until the summer unless something changes drastically and United allow him to leave.
His contract is up in June and he can sign on a pre contract.
He could sign on a pre contract now with Inter Milan if you if he so chose Hey consigned with a foreign team up to six months in advance of the expiration date of his current contract.
But he said he will not do that as it would be disrespectful to Manchester United, where he is the club captain and he has spent so much time.
The veteran left back does look set to leave.
But it remains to be seen on whose terms he will be joining Inter Milan, whether Manchester United allow it in January or if he will have to be patient and wait for the summer transfer window to join at the expiration of his contract.
