So tonight the Lakers are playing the calves.
Ah, how many of you guys are watching the college football championship? But I'm sure if your Lakers fan Joe tune into this game.
So, like I said, the Lakers are playing a calf tonight.
Now we're gonna be out be without Anthony Davis and without rage on Rondo.
I'm sure you're already aware that Regime Rondo.
The Anthony Davis proves the gloomiest Maximus against the Knicks, and he's been out the last couple games resting.
Rondo played an amazing game against the Thunder on Saturday night.
Ah, he went, Ah, he had 21 points, 12 boards, eight assists.
But he fractured his finger, and right now he's listed his day to day, so who really knows when he'll be back? But like I said.
He played a really good game against Ah against O K. C.
Now LeBron will be back and LeBron missed their game the other night against.
Okay, See, he was feeling a little under the weather, but he's back tonight.
And whenever LeBron, you know, returned to Cleveland, it's a really big deal.
Um, the Lakers are riding an eight game win streak, which is the second longest win streak of the season on Lee, second to the Jazz.
And, um, the Lakers Air are 21 you know, um, against teams under 500 which is a really impressive feat, considering no other team is undefeated against teams under 500.
Um, when you consider how good this Lakers team has been, you know, you look at this game that we played the on Saturday night against O. K. C.
Kyle Kuzma led us to an impressive when 125 to 1 10 without LeBron without Anthony Davis and without Danny.
Green, who scored 36 points, had seven boards.
He's averaging 17.
6 points over his last 10 games, and despite being mentioned in trade rumors, it looks like Koos is finally starting to heat up and return to form the I'm really happy for, um, there are a number of Lakers fans that would rather trade coups and try to get something in return, try to get a different player.
But me personally, as long as these peace performing, I've said this on my podcast.
I think he could be a part of our our championship run this year and he could be a part of whatever our plans are going into the future beyond this season.
I'm really excited to see what Kucan turn into, and I think there are other ways to improve this team other than trading him.
I think coming into this season, the biggest issue of coups was he was dealing with.
That ankle injury that he suffered went with Team USA.
That I'm sure many of you are aware of and it just took him a long time to kind of recover from that and then also really finding his footing with this team and figuring out what his place was.
And I know that wasn't on his lives.
In all of his faults.
I think someone that was Frank Vogel's problem and trying to figure out how to play Cooze.
We know who to play him with, what combinations, and I don't know.
Frank really thick, really knew, UM, where Cruz fit and regards to LeBron and Anthony Davis.
But it looks like they're finally starting to figure it out.
And more than anything, it seems like Who's this finally starting to find his rhythm? And that's a really bad thing for opposing teams coming into the season.
I acoustic Daz, the team's third best player, and the Lakers really could use Ah, third guy that could get his own shot.
They have struggled when LeBron James is on the bench.
Not having another guy that could score alongside Anthony Davis and fans have fans are hoping that Cooze is recent success means that he can be that guy.
And I'm really expecting a big game Kakuma tonight against the Cavs because, quite frankly, Kevin Love can't guard Kyle Kuzma.
They simply can't Instinct for tonight against the Cleveland Cavaliers is who's going to step up and help LeBron with the playmaking duties.
With Rondo being out, that's another big thing with this, Laker seemed.
You know, we need another point guard.
Um, Rondo Rondo has a number of flaws that all of you Laker fans are aware of.
But the one thing that Rondo does provide, he's a playmaker.
That's what he's good at, and he may not be great at it anymore.
But there really isn't anyone else out of LeBron James.
That's a natural playmaker.
And so I'm looking to see if someone like thank you for that thumbs up.
I really appreciate that.
Um, I'm looking to see if someone if another one point guard steps up, I don't think Quinn Quinn Cook might get some minutes, but I don't I don't expect him to do much.
He should have hit some open shots replaced, but he's not gonna be a playmaker.
The guy I'm looking at is Alex Crusoe, Laker favorite e think sixth and All star voting for the guards in the West.
He's the guy that we're looking at to really step up and show that he could be more than a mean and he is more than that.
I think all of you fans know that dude is a solid role player.
But in a game like tonight, where LeBron, where Ah, regime.
The Lakers were gonna need another guard to step up.
And, hey, Crusoe, it's all you, man.
Like the Lakers don't have another guard that can provide what Rondo does.
And so Crusoe's that next guy up.
And I want to see him, um, play within himself, but played at defense that we know Crusoe can play.
Get out there out in transition, you know, find guys for open shots.
Crusoe's excellent at getting at getting to the room.
That's what I want to see out of him and the Cavaliers.
They have their own issues right now.
You know, they've been in the news recently.
Kevin Love seemed to be unhappy.
They may trade him.
Maybe he wants out.
You know what's going on right there.
But this should be a game where the Lakers should have no problem winning.
But at the same time, when you play a bad team, sometimes you could take them lightly.
And what we've seen so far from this Lakers team is at 21.
I know against teams under 500.
They seem to take every every opponent seriously, so I suspect that they will do the same against this Cavaliers team, but it remains to be seen.
I am not sure of Danny Greene is playing.
I didn't get get to find that out, and I guess I could look it up right now to see if he's playing.
I hope that he is, Um you know it Cavaliers or not, I like to see this Lakers team at as close to full strength as possible.
Um, but, you know, we'll see if dan degrees playing.
I'm trying to look it up right now.
I'm talking to you guys, Um and I put it up.
You know, I guess I follow me on Twitter at Laker sent for 3 65 because it's a poll that I have right now or I'm talking about some of the additional help that I think this Lakers team could need.
And John Hollinger Ah, of ESPN.
I'm sorry of the athletic formerly of ESPN, but of that, let it currently, he talks about Derrick Rose and Derrick Rose is an option that maybe the Bulls could be someone that the Lakers couldn't take a look at.
As as a really nice backup point guard in a situation like tonight where rage on Rondo isn't playing.
Can you guys imagine having Derrick Rose come off the bench? I mean, we played the We played Detroit, I believe, last Sunday and Rose at 28 points against us.
He imagined having his his shot.
Creation is getting to the rim, his energy with that second unit.
I mean, you look at our second unit now, particularly when Anthony Davis is on the floor with them and teams just sag off of the guards.
They're just double teaming Andy Davis and they're making.
It's making it so difficult on him, and there's not anyone out there that can get their own shot.
Cause was a guy that I I thought could do that.
Then maybe he's finally starting to find his rhythm to be here to get his own shot.
Um, but having someone like Derrick rose out there as John Hollinger's suggests, that would be amazing.
Many of us are waiting to find out, um, who the Lakers may be targeting in the buyout market, who they may be targeting in terms of a potential trade.
Uh, Darren Collison.
I know you guys all heard Adrian Will John Grabowski from ESPN, maybe a week or two ago say that Darren Collison was considering coming out of retirement and he was looking at the Clippers or the Lakers? Obviously, if he comes out of retirement, I would love to get him on the Lakers again.
A night like tonight, he would be a fabulous backup option.
And even if Rhonda was healthy, I think that Collison Collison should be the guy coming off the bench for the Lakers.
But regardless of its Collison or not, the Lakers certainly need ah better by backup point guard option than what we have right now are raised on Rondo and then be on that.
We have to find some some better wing depth.
And I think that looking at some options around the league, fans aren't, you know, all my social media, you know, they message me all the time saying We need to go after Andre Iguodala and I've said this number of times before he makes $17 million.
We don't have the assets to trade form and by all accounts, Memphis is not gonna trade him for nothing. They're not gonna give.
Just give him away and they're not gonna buy him out.
They're looking for, you know, a decent draft asset or decent young player in return.
So what? That said, the Lakers need to find other pieces to help round out their roster going into the trade deadline, which is February 6.
And then when you think about that, maybe a.
Crowder, who also plays from Memphis.
He makes $7 million a year.
Maybe he's an option.
Maybe Mark Keith Morris, who plays for Detroit.
3 million this season.
A lot of people want Marcus Morris in New York, but he makes $15 million a year.
He cost way too much yet to think about it.
You know, in those lot along those lines, who can the Lakers get? You know, a lot of people want Robert Covington in Minnesota.
He makes $11 million this year.
I think he makes about 12 next year and 12 the year after next it.
Look the Lakers.
If we're going to keep call Kuzma, the Lakers need to go after a cheap option that can knock down some shots and play defense and quite Frankly, the Lakers just need a defensive option.
Really go up against Kawai.
That's really it.
He's the guy that they need, somebody extra go after, go up against that way.
LeBron doesn't have to do it because LeBron has his hands full, running the offense and scoring and doing everything else that he does.
That's the only guy I really need somebody for.
The Lakers have shown that they've got options to go up against Odjick.
Did you go up against Harden to go up against anybody they need to go up against? But it's really quiet that that gives us a hard time.
So you know, that's what they need to be looking at.
And I'm sure all you guys are already aware that Rob Pelinka got promoted, you know, essentially promoted to vice president of, uh, vice president of basketball operations, he got a contract extension.
Originally when he was brought on a CZ GM of the Lakers, he signed a five year deal.
I believe this was year three of that deal, so he just signed an extension.
With this new title, Rob seems nobody's doing.
There's been no drama around this team all season long, there.
There's been no nonsense.
The team is clearly performed, and it's very different from the previous six seasons.
And so, Rob, I Rob has my support.
And when you really looking out the scenes performed, You look at his relationship with LeBron with Anthony Davis with Frank Vogel with Jeanie Buss, Rob seems to have been the glue that that's brought all this together.
And so whatever Robb decides to do to bring pieces in to make the team better, I think he will do that.
As a former agent, he clearly a clearly knows how to interact with players.
I think he knows how to scour the league.
He knows how to look for loopholes within the C b A.
And like I said, I trust him.
And so I think Jeannie made the right decision in terms of shoring up the front office.
Now, going into the trade deadline, we know exactly who's making the decisions for the Lakers.
There's no there's no if ands or buts about it.
It's Rob Pelinka.
And so I'm going to really in in, uh, the pregame show on that.
I think we're gonna beat the Cavs tonight.
Like I said, We're 21 against teams that are under 500 having a record like that against teams that are under 500.
That's what's enabled us to have this cushion.
Ah, in the Western Conference.
We're five games up on the Nuggets in the Western Conference.
And if you recall we had that four game losing streak and to have that four game losing streak last month and still have five, you have a five game lead on the second best team in the West.
That has a lot to do with with beating teams that were supposed to be.
And I suspect that the Lakers will do so against the Cavalier.
