running up the story.
Carrie, Napoleon l owe.
This team has been on the clock for four months now.
Why are we taking this down to the four minute mark? You know, you had you have 10 minutes here.
10 minutes here.
But you've had four months.
The dude's got 1000 and 21 text messages, as he hasn't read yet.
Did we not, like, notice that Kevin Bryce Harper is a great player? He's very, very talented aside from last year, but I blame myself.
I'm pretty sure I'm the reason for that.
Would fantasy baseball? That's disgusting.
That's like, really I mean again.
I'm not I shouldn't need I'm not gonna be the kind of person that 80 Okay? He hated doing enough waiting for the both of us as a Cowboys fan.
The expectations are so high, and it's just, you know, you're dug into the ground by the end of the season.
You're like, you're basically like what the patriots are, but like you try to do it, you just don't know.
Yeah, like, at least the jets, you know? I mean, they have excuses.
This'd is running up the score.
Your one stop spot for all things sports.
Now here's your host Jerry Napoleon Elo and Kevin Donlan.
Alright, Running up the score back.
Hello, Kevin Donlan.

Now back to regular scheduled programming.
How's the holidays? Kept? It was good, man, you know, kind of lied a little spent time family, So, yeah, I mean, that's the best.
That's the best.
You know, that's what you want to do.
That's that's the holidays for you.
You know, you wanna want to be with family.
Ah, and obviously you want some sports.
I mean that the holidays are not the holidays without sports.
Um, so we'll start off.
We got the NFL playoffs.
The NFL playoffs started last weekend.
Um, we had the wild card round, first up, and we'll start off with Saturday's games.
We had started off.
As you know, this was all Buffalo 16. Nothing.
I think that I'm pretty sure they led by 16.
Um, you know, by halftime, you know, and I know that because I picked Houston first half.
How'd that go for me? Not knock it.
Um What? Why? Actually had gone.
You know, you go with Houston for the game on that just on the basis that I had, someone had told me something along the lines before that game it started was that you know, the Buffalo Bills had defeated one team, Uh, you know, all season with a winning record.
And it was the Tennessee Titans when they didn't even have Tannehill yet.
So, you know, they had the third easiest schedule in the league.
The Buffalo Bills, and they had a great year.
It's not taking anything away from anything they were able to do.
Their defense is amazing.
And Josh Allen definitely took some strides.
Uh, but unfortunately, um, you know, when it comes to playoff football, you know, it's one and done.
It's a brutal way.
I'll tell you right now, the bills aren't the only team we're gonna feel bad for by the time we're done with this, you know, session So But it was a great season for them now.
It was definitely, you know, beyond any what any fan expected, To be honest, I mean, we did call it in the beginning, the season that Buffalo was that it was gonna be it was gonna be a competitive.
I also said the Jets were gonna be competitors, so I mean, you know, it was a long, long time ago.
You know, Obviously it's easy.
You know, This is why you play the NFL season.
You know, there's always predictions and what you're expecting out of the league.
And, you know, when he came to this for the Buffalo Bills, they just really had a great year.
Their schedule, you know, was fairly easy, and I guess the best way to put it.
But, you know, you take winds.
They beat Dallas, right? Really? Did they? I'm not trying to throw it on the baby.
I mean, I like that counts as a team that didn't have a winning record, you know? So I'm doing this.
Is that what I'm doing? Yeah.
I mean, listen, um, the the Cowboys were very, um, you know, inconsistent all year.
And obviously, we're gonna get into the Dallas Cowboys in a little bit about let me have time for Yeah, um, but Houston wins this in overtime.
It really was 20 to 19.
Ah, Buffalo just fell apart in the second half.
You know, the Houston Texans? All right? It's funny, because you think about it.
The Buffalo Bill started the season with an amazing second half comeback over the New York Jets.
That's that kind of spring this entire season for them together.
And it ends on their second half performance, actually letting them down.
So, you know, just the strides of the season.
But you know what? I think Buffalo showed a lot, Um, especially this season in the playoffs as well.
I mean, Josh, Josh Islands, that, you know, he's he's shown that he can really, boy. Oh, yeah.
And I mean, when it comes down to him, um, we saw some, obviously some some rookie mistakes.
I mean, there they obviously he's not a rookie, but, um, you know, just the fact that he's still making the mistakes that he made in college that he made in his rookie year.
So that's a little scary to me.
But he also shown signs of, you know, Wow, this guy is really why we took him.
Number seven, you know? So, um, for the for the Buffalo Bills, you have to kind of look at it as this is our future.
We're looking good.
This is a good start.
Now we just gotta build on it.
Their defense is very good.
Obviously they you know, they the whole first half, they held Houston down, you know, and they were big on their defense.
Alter the season.
I mean, they held the Cowboys to I think 13 points or something like that. Push comes to shove.
I don't feel bad for Buffalo.
They're young, They're gonna They're gonna have This isn't This is just the beginning.
So I'm not feeling bad for any Buffalo Bills fans right now is a great year.
You definitely got a lot of experience, especially playoff experience.
Very young team.
So because I get all over, I mean, they're just They're very, very young altogether.
And listen, it's they got, they got growing pains.
But again, it's the successor to continue like him.
It is the best time for the Buffalo Bills to start to peek.
Ah, and this is the reason why I say that Tennessee at New England.
Okay, so now we're getting to the end of Tom Brady's career.
I mean, he's what, 41.
I hope you really don't ex for my you know I am.
That is because because I don't know.
I mean, Tom Brady is and so strange throughout the entire process, I mean clearly says he doesn't want to retire.
But you know, he has sold his home.
And I mean, it's crazy with the Internet, just gives you all the access, all these facts that I I probably shouldn't know, like I shouldn't know or care that Tom Brady sold his house.
You know, in New England, it's it's incredible that, you know, we're able to, you know, as fans and the media out Look, it's It's incredible that, you know, we see this and it makes you wonder what's gonna go on with Tom Brady, because it is kind of confusing.
Well, when it comes down to, you know, there's there's times that you look at it and, like you said, moving or, you know, selling a house.
A lot of these players don't live in the state or city that they play in.
Obviously, like you look at some of the basketball players are a lot of them live in the off season in L.
A lot of a lot of athletes do that.
They have the money, trust me.
So when you look at that, that's really not that you know, different, you know, really, by the contracts over his contractors.
So that's where You can't tell me that these talks have not gone at all between the New England Patriots and Tom.
You know, you might not hear about it like the way it gets broadcasted with the New York Jets, But with the New England Patriots, you you know, these talks have happened.
You know that nothing came up of it, you know that they're beat.
Writers have no idea what happened in those meetings because that's the way the Patriots work, which is considered the right way.
Um, so you have You know what nobody knows.
You know, there's no there's nobody on Twitter I can look at right now that says, Oh, this is happening.
Ah, this is not happening.
You know, when it comes to Tom Brady, it gets as confusing as it possibly can. My opinion.
I think he should retire.
He's had an amazing career.
He is, you know, the greatest of all time.
Well, to me, in my personal opinion, I don't think he's going to retire.
I don't think he wants to go out the way that they went out, obviously losing 20 to 13 to the Tennessee Titans at home and the retired years ago, His last relationship throw basically was a pick six. I'll be honest.
Ah, you know, not to show any kind of like, uh, I guess one sided here, but as a jet fan, Um, that was That was nice.
Well, you know what that was.
That was really Ah, that was it.
Just it felt it felt good in a messed up.
You know, it's just as a jet because you've watched Tom Brady.
You know, it's one thing to, you know, see Tom Brady and how great he's been.
Look, I mean, you remember, the New England Patriots are huge rival of the New York Jets.
Who I root for is that I understand pretty brutal the sea for years, A team like this.
So it's I like your rival, obviously not the same pinnacle.
I guess you can say, um, you know, I feel the same way about you know, Eli Manning.
His career is coming to an end.
But when I when I look at it like I said, I don't think Tom Brady, the prideful guy that he is, I don't think he's gonna want to go out like that.
Now the question is, is it if he doesn't retire? Is he staying with New England? And that's That's where the question became like begins, because it's like we said, The contract is up, the contract is up.
Well, honestly, when it comes to Tom Brady, But he he lost in the Tennessee Titans, folks, that's That's basically the point of what I was trying to do there.
I was pretending to kind of starter there.
But no, he lost in the Titans.
The Titans played a great game.
Ah, Tom Brady is a great player.
Whatever happens, don't be on this.
Nobody knows we will find out in time.
Ah, but the Tennessee This is about the Tennessee Titans.
And, uh, it's about coaches to ah, you know, for Variable to be able to have done that, uh, against against Bill Belichick and its former team, you know, it's It's an incredible story.
It's a great story for Tennessee.
Um, you know, Derrick Henry was the best player on that field and Tom Brady was on the field as well the same field.
But Derrick Henry was the best player.
I have never seen anything like this.
Please, John, I'm I'd like to consider myself a you know, larger than the average human being.
And that guy's unbelievably big.
He's bigger than me, and he's faster than me.
It's it's quite incredible.
Derrick Henry is an incredible athlete to be that big at the running back position.
Um, it's just and he runs really fast.
Brandon Jacobs was a big guy as well.
He did not run the way Derrick Henry Henry runs huge runs.
I mean, he gets big gains and he runs away from defense.
Is so his house.
It's an incredible player.
Tohave um, Tennessee doesn't realize that they have really a key player there, and we're gonna have to, you know, they're gonna have their work cut out for him in the next round.
But I'm telling you, they that offensive line and the way Derrick Henry runs the football, you play some defense in that game because you should be able to push the pile of most of the time here.
Uh, they're gonna be a tough, tough out.
You give credit to the Tennessee Titans just as much as you discredit the New England in the end of their dynasty.
You know, they had a great defense all year.
There was no doubt about it there.
Ah, their quarterback and their offense.
Obviously, a times was shaky.
Um, nothing like the former offenses we've seen from Tom Brady and what has made him the greatest of all time.
Ah, but again, it was.
It was a great year for that New England defense, and they kind of road that defense for the most part this season.
And you know, it just you credit once again the genius himself.
It's Bill Belichick.
I mean, again, they are the rival, the New York Jets.
So, like the cold Bill Belichick, a genius from a New York Jets fan perspective, It's quite something.
It just shows that you truly are the best coach that I've ever seen.
And you know, he found ways to win games playoff season.
He's an absolute genius at it, and Vrabel got him actually, on a tricking.
You saw what happened in the fourth quarter there, right with the clock and everything.
What they because I watched the Jets play the Patriots the first time that this clock rule was put into effect against the New York Jets and further happened to ah, Bill, Bela Chick and return in the playoffs again.
You know, kind of like the Tom Brady Interception.
It's there's nice.
It was really nice to see.
Um, I got two questions before we move on to the Sunday Games.
Is the New England Patriots dynasty over? All right.
I don't believe so, but we move on and the 2nd 1 and then I'll have a ah sidebar question off of this one.
Is Tom Brady going to retire? No.
Will he be in a Patriots uniform next year? I have no clue.
Just give your opinion. No.
No, I have no idea that no is based on nothing but this.
This is where it gets fun.
Okay, So you don't think he's gonna be in a Patriots uniform? What uniform do you think he will be? Complete opinion.
Obviously, we don't know that zone.
Easy one. It's a cult.
That's actually what I did.
That's a good pick.
Let's go pick. I like it now.
We move on to the Sunday Games.
So now we move on Minnesota at New Orleans and this is Ah, there's there's some things that happen in this game.
Ah, and we remember the last time that they played in the playoffs.
It was called The Minute Minneapolis Miracle.
Yeah, pretty much.
Yeah, that's so accurate.
Way to put that Because that was an unbelievable play. Yeah.
So now we have this game.
Ah, New Orleans played this game pretty well.
I mean, Drew Brees kind of looked okay.
There's no blame to go around for that one.
I think both sides of the ball for New Orleans was very, very good.
And so is Minnesota.
And this is what we like to call a like a gut wrenching game.
And it was just a great game till the very end.
You know, the Saints missing a field goal right before half.
There's so much that could have changed.
Based on how the way you know how this game had gone on.
So, you know you can.
You could say that.
Ah, you know, one play at the end of a game can, ah cost the team.
But there was a lot cost the New Orleans Saints and we can go into it because you definitely want to go into this, and it's It's understandable, folks, if you're not understand if you're not understanding what we're talking about at the end of the New Orleans and you know Minnesota game over time, Carl Rudolph in overtime, caught a touchdown pass.
Um, and before catching it on upon review and we'll know review, actually. But replay.
Um, it showed that he had pushed off Kyle Rudolph and there was full arm extension, which, you know, being, you know, I've been watching football for a very long time.
It's that's clear evidence of an offensive pass interference.
Um, just based on the fact that the rule simply says that if a offensive player fully extends their arm out to get separation from a defender, it should be called at all times.
Now there's push office where it's not full arm extension, and we've seen those many times, and they're never called because it's not the correct Cole.
It needs to be a full arm extension, which is exactly what Rudolph Day.
So now, first off, this is New Orleans losing in the playoffs again three straight times in, like, as you're saying gut wrenching ways, I mean, itjust, unbelievable ways that New Orleans can find a way to lose.
I mean, they had the miracle.
Ah, you know, against the Vikings, then they have the offensive passed the defense of pass interference against them.
Um, you know, that brought upon this reviewing off the pass interference, that's that's the craziest thing of it.
So when it comes down to this, this play in the corner of the end zone, as Kevin was saying, I mean, it's clear push off.
And now this is where it gets interesting.
So now Mike Pereira, he's obviously in Ah, ex referee, well known.
He's obviously the refereeing ****yst on Fox.
So you'll hear them.
You know, during play.
You know, if there's a flag or whatever, you'll hear Joe Buck in Troy Aikman say, Hey, we have my prayer on, Um, what do you think about that? So, to me, I thought it was a complete copout.
What Mike Pereira says at the end of this game, uh, I have the clip of it.
I want you guys to hear it, and then I'm going to give my opinion on it after you hear it.
But a complete copy.
My comment. I defer to you.
I'll give it back to you trust? This is one.
Now that New York will look at, they have to make a decision.
They have to make a decision on whether or not a there is pass interference.
And is it big enough in the replay situation they have with pass interference.
Clearly he does get separation and he does extend the arm and they are not going to look at it.
And this is a final 26 2 20.
So that's I just That was his time to come out and say, Yeah, it was pass interference.
And I don't understand why they're not going to review this.
They have to review this, but he doesn't.
So now to me that that seems as though, um ah, lot of his ****ytical weighs on.
Fox is controlled by the NFL, and he doesn't want to step out and possibly lose a job.
So he's gonna kind of side with the NFL.
So I thought that was a complete cop out.
Then it comes down to Al River on the the head of officiating.
He comes out through a reporter, doesn't even come out himself, says contact by both players, but none of that contact rises to a level of a foul.
This is consistent with what we've done all year left.
Ruling on the field.
But why you coming out with this new thing of Hey, we're going to review pass interference is because of obviously what happened.
Ah, with the Saints and the Rams and they haven't like basically, we were talking about it before the show started.
We're saying it's probably less than 10% off pass interference is that were challenged? The reviewed definitely.
Listen to him yet.
So why even have this set? If you're to me, I feel like they're prideful.
They don't want to, Ah, bow down to anybody.
And that's where I feel like that's where the refs are coming from.
Um, Terry McCauley, who obviously doesn't work for the NFL anymore, At least I don't think he actually might be on Sunday Night Football, but he comes out and tweets out.
It is illegal for an offensive player.
Extend his arm or arms and create clear separation from the defender.
That was offensive pass interference.
That's what we were expecting from Mike Pereira to say.
But he did it Ah. Then he goes.
Final thoughts on the Minnesota New Orleans offensive Pass interference play one.
There is zero contact beyond five yards prior to the past in flight, so there cannot be a foul for illegal contact to the defender.
Never grabs or restricts the receiver in anyway, so there's no foul for defensive pass interference.
And three, The receiver places his hand in the chest of the defender and pushes off to create clear separation.
The definitive tell is the upper body of the defender jerks backward.
This is a clear and obvious foul for offensive pass interference, and then he says the passionate love for their their team by Vikings fans is noted.
Obviously, you've probably getting some hate tweets on.
And then John Perry, another longtime NFL refs, he said The last play of the Vikings at Saints is offensive pass interference by written rule and on field philosophy.
Receiver clearly created an advantage.
If called and reviewed, it stands the consistent standard for creating an all overturn remains a topic.
Now I turn this over to you.
Um, how do you feel about Pereira? Ah, River Ron Terry McCauley, End John Perry.
It just sounds like one.
Huge like almost.
Ah, like, kind of like a backlash to the game And what comes down to it.
Is that OK? Yeah.
You know, a flag should have been thrown.
We could go over this, you know, for years and years beyond this year of situations occurring two teams back when there was no review.
And you know that, you know, the game was a lot of people, you know, people forget that this game was different 10 years ago, and there was no questioning it at that point anymore.
Now, obviously what happened last year was absolutely obnoxious.
You know, that was a clear cut pass interference.
And I'll be honest, you know, he talks about it being less than 10% of calls being overturned.
I didn't see any defensive pass interference that was even remotely close to the most obvious one ever saw.
That happened in the NFC championship last year.
And we're talking wipe the guy out before the ball.
Even God, there.
I mean, that it was very clear cut.
And when it comes to this season, there wasn't much of that.
I didn't see a lot of it.
I watched a lot of football this year.
I did not see a lot of calls that were almost definite to be called back on pass interference.
We're called four pass interference.
We saw it happened both ways.
We saw no calls.
Try to be called.
You know, we tried calls that were called to be no calls.
Uh, you know, we saw it all.
Um, it's slowed the game down.
Is it a good rule? I agree.
I think we should keep it.
I think that, you know, the reviewing of pass interference is quite key.
Now, um, you know, this is a tough game.
You gotta remember that referees are human beings.
They like you. They like me.
We all make mistakes.
So ah, clear cut.
Last year, that was a mistake.
There's nothing they can do.
The game is over.
The game has been over Ah, for over a year.
And then we go right back to this.
Now, Now the saints once again.
Of course, it's gotta happen to the scenes now have an offensive pass interference, go against them and not be called.
So I know the anger that could be coming from being a saints fan.
And should you have a Super Bowl championship, probably under your home from last year, yet most likely, you know.
Ah, the Rams put up three points in the Super Bowl.
So you had a better shot at it and the Los Angeles Rams did.
And then this year, playing a team that you lost to two years ago and the way you lost to them, everyone calls it a miracle, and I couldn't believe it.
I couldn't believe they didn't tackle him.
They should have tackled him.
There was two defenders and no one tackled him.
Stefan Diggs is not 65 you know, £275 of pure muscle.
Like is a fairly small man.
You can easily tackle him instead of letting him go another 40 yards for a touchdown.
It happens, you know, But to blame the refs for a game like this, you know, we just be just out of the ordinary because, you know, you missed the field goal right before half.
There was a lot of times that this team could execute and did not.
Well, if they kick that field, will, if he actually would've never went to overtime never went to overtime and sings with one, and it's the same thing that happened in that game with the Rands as well in the playoffs.
It came down to it. I think it was.
I'm almost positive.
It was a missed field goal that led to that point to getting toe over time.
So, um, you know, it's interesting.
You know, you look at some certain things like that, and it's it's honestly, it's interesting.
And, you know, you move on to, um, the Seattle Seahawks and the Philadelphia Eagles.
Um, Seattle wins this game 17 to 9.
Ah, Carson Wentz, the is basically that the news of this, the story of this game.
He's gets knocked out of the game again.
Um, in the first quarter, I think off the Eagles making the playoffs.
In the seasons that Carson Wentz has been around, he hasn't finished a game or played in it.
Yeah, I think it's safe to say now that Carson Wentz is an injury prone individual.
I mean, there's there's, you know, you don't want to think it, but obviously, when head injuries, a recurring head injuries, we're going now.
Granted, that was What? What Jadeveon Clowney had done was, uh it was really But you know what? It goes back to it, you know, that's 1/2 slide, and that is 1/2.
No slide from Carson wins.
So you taking any kind of hit there? Not him is what u ex for because you're trying to get extra yardage.
Now you keep seeing this happen with quarterbacks in the NFL.
They want the extra yard is they want to be able to run for that extra five yards.
There's common sense here, folks.
And when you're a quarterback in this league, you your focus is on to study that playbook, to make sure you don't mean that.
There's a lot that goes into it, you know, obviously the gym and all that kind of stuff, too.
But knowing that playbook and being a leader requires a lot more than Jim time.
And let's be honest, the gym time for quarterbacks is probably less than a lot of these players in different positions, where strength is almost everything in regard to their position.
So that's what you'd aviones Connie does.
Davy on Clowney is a big man that works out a lot because his strength is what gets him a job as a defensive end in the National Football League.
And he's going after a Carson Wentz who probably hasn't had much gym time.
Granted, he's been rehabbing well, when it comes down to that play, Um, like we were saying it, it's It's the kind of slide he slid forward.
So you're still a runner.
You can call it a dirty head all you want from Clowney.
But at the same time, you know what? He potentially stop the first down.
I mean, that's you know, when when a quarterback is diving forward, if he's not touched, it's wherever the ball is, you know? Lands basically.
So by Jadeveon Clowney doing what he did.
I mean, I really don't think you can tackle many other picture of like right before he added, Yeah, I mean, it was then.
Now do you think he gets I mean, obviously, we haven't heard anything yet, which is surprising.
Um, but do you think he gets suspended for this? I don't think so.
Um, I know that you've probably been and I don't think that's rightfully called for because again, if a quarterback wishes to not slide and dive to get that actually ours.
What kind of hit you expect them to take? You know you got the XFL coming out.
The NFL has got some.
Did you read about that A little bit, too.
That's why we're gonna bring it up.
We're definitely gonna bring it up, but I'm going to continue.
But again, the XFL is learning to do different rules.
Now that's gonna cause more hitting.
I mean, these are the kind of hits that were questioning finds with, I mean, the NFL.
I understand where it's coming out.
They wanna make it a C for game.
Let's be honest with your folks.
The the game of football is not a safe's board.
It's a very, very dangerous sport.
A lot of the sports marketing risk.
Every player knows the risk.
When you get into a sport like that, it's a violent sport that Xena is.
It's the most violent sport.
Yeah, and you know, when you when it comes down to it, um, you know, it's just it's Carson.
One's getting hurt again, and I know it's a freak.
That's what cost him, and I don't want to call off that one play.
You're absolutely right. Seattle played a great game.
Russell Wilson found a way like he always does.
This man is a is a great talent.
He's an even better man.
And I watched the clip.
Ah, and I might have been today or yesterday, but it shows him go up to Doug Peterson.
I'm also not a bit, but I'm not a fan of dough. Peter sent it off.
I was an Eagle fan to be praying to God he was getting fired.
That's just my perspective.
I just don't think he's a good head coach.
I know you guys have had some success, and Eagle fans could say what you want.
That man needs to be fired, and you need to go out and get someone else like soon because you have a lot of talent and a first round exit because you lost your starting quarterback and putting up nine points and Josh McCown is Maur than capable.
I've seen them do it with about at least eight different teams so that you can find a way to do it.
But again, like Doug, he went up to the Peterson, Russell Wilson he goes up the first thing system.
There's great game, coach.
How's Carson? I saw the same video booth.
Listen, it just shows what kind of person he is, and it shows like, you know, Yeah, you see sports and you see all the drama that goes with sports.
That's the kind of drama I want to see.
That is the most amazing thing I saw.
Probably in the last duty.
It's bigger than the sport.
Um, so, Well, you were you brought up? Um, you know, someone that I wanted to bring up now, Um, and that's Josh McCown.
Uh, you know, And before basically the end of that game, I had no idea of this because the guy's Ford and he's been on, like, 10 different teams.
So you would have thought that he's played at least one playoff game and he has it A.
I mean, the definition of a journeymen.
Um, he's been all over.
It is It's the perfect conclusion.
Well, he he, um you know, he played with Emmitt Smith.
I mean, like, you look at some I mean, he threw touchdown passes to Larry Fitzgerald.
He's handed bull off toe.
Emmitt Smith in his last, his last touchdown.
So it was just from where he went to where he is now.
Um, you know, he's just he's 40 years old.
I thought he showed a lot in this game.
Yeah, you know it.
They didn't score a touchdown.
It's the guy basically retired.
I think he actually did retire and then, you know, with all the injuries that were happening, you know, even before the season started with the Eagles, they figured, you know, obviously losing Nick Foles.
They needed a backup and they brought in.
You know, they spoke to McCown because I guess none of the quarterbacks that were out there are any good.
So McCown said, You know what? I'll come back for this.
I'll be your backup.
That's what happened.
And he didn't play at all all season long, basically, and he comes in in the playoffs cold.
I mean, you can't You can't fault him in this.
Um, you know, a lot happened in this game that, you know, you can't fool all on already showed my feelings.
I mean, it goes the dog absent at that point.
So this was Ah, you know Josh McCown.
after the game in his press conference, and I mean, it was it was pretty special.
You know, I'll probably reflect on that later.
Um, and again, you know, probably with a sour taste.
Uh, but but thankful.
Just, you know, um, wife and my family.
You moved around a lot.
Been been lot been there for me.
And so, um, mom and Dad and And, uh so to go out there and get to play in a playoff game with special and and I can't think enough from this sport, and, uh, it was it was heck of a ride.
I left it all out there.
I know that much.
Oh, this, uh, it's different.
Playing at 40. No.
So your body talks to you a lot, and, uh and, um, you know, I think I think more anything it was that was I think I'll reflect on that later.
But it was fun to be out there for sure.
So obviously you can hear how, you know, choked up.
He got, you know, just having his family around for, you know, something that was that was so special for him that he got to play in his first playoff game. Absolutely.
I mean, you got to remember, you know, being an NFL player and all the money that goes with it, you know, forget about the different aspects and having, you know, like you said, you talked about all these players going to L.
But clearly he moved around front organizations, which I think is a better experience than anything you could ever imagine.
I mean, you could be Tom Brady and be a patriot for the rest of your life, but Tom Brady would go to Cincinnati Bangles, you know, training camp.
He wouldn't know what to expect on every time we talk about every detail, you know, up until the hotel, you're staying at that particular night.
What, where you're going to eat that night.
There's just a lot.
It's it's it's really cool to be a journeyman in the NFL, and you're able to just check out all these different places.
You know, when you basically you're traveling so much, um, you know, just become, you know, he played for the Jets.
We actually had better a year with him.
Ah, you know, I wish him the best of luck. That was really awesome.
I'm glad he had a chance to play in it again.
My blame goes to Doug Peterson.
I'll never put the blame on Josh McCown for that.
Performing, not animal.
Um, you know, I'm not a fan of the Eagle's head coach.
I think he is this sole reason why one they didn't even have that great of a year.
And thank God they play in the NFC East.
And then until you, you know, it's a it's a quick exit at home.
You know, it's just, you know, why don't Peterson still has a job and, you know, again why the New York Giants even went out and fired? I'm like, so confused by what is going through Some of these teams that really do need a different atmosphere on their team, and we go into that right now.
That's exactly the way you go into that.
You go into the Giants.
Um, a lot of people don't agree with me.
I have talked about this with many people in the tri state area and especially giant fans, and I do not agree with the New York Giants firing Pat Shurmur, Um, for many reasons, and it really has nothing to do with Pat Shurmur.
Ah, it has to do with the fact of the New York Giants.
Just personnel wise.
I don't put the blame for Pat Shurmur for this season at all.
I feel like what the Giants was.
They were able to dio even in some of the games they had and had chances to even, you know, pull off wins and, you know, fought to the very end with some of the best teams in the National Football League this year, Uh, the Giants had no business, even winning as many games they won.
Their defense was a a mess.
And I mean, I talked about this with a bunch of fans before the season it started.
And, you know, you couldn't name me any players on this defense.
You just cut it.
You know, uh, and again, I don't blame these corners because you had no pressure.
Um, there's I don't see where you're getting the pressure from.
I've heard rumors of Clowney maybe going to ah ah, cloudy.
Going to the Giant's stuff like that again, you know, way Eagle fans think about him right now.
I don't think the giant would be the best moving him now.
But again, like they don't they lack a pass rusher. Yes.
I don't care who is the head coach of this organization.
You might as well just let it be.
Pat Sherman put another losing season out there so you could fire him and gentlemen at the same time.
Well, that this is coming from a jet fan where I know the jets mess this up and they went out and got themselves a head coach fired their G m A couple months later, it was a mess.
It was terrible.
And I was the 1st 1 to let you know they did an awful job executing whatever they were trying to dio with changing the scenery of this organization.
But the New York Giants find themselves in a very, very similar situation.
Now you're gonna hire this young kid, you know, he's the wide receivers coach for the New England Patriots.
And you know, it's funny because I found out some more.
Um, you know, facts on Joe judges that he's never been a wide receivers coach before.
They literally just changed him because he was a special teams coach.
or a special teams coordinator for New England.
But they started losing all their coaches that they never hired a wide receivers coach.
So he got just put into the mix for a wide receivers coach.
So that was interesting to me.
I mean, I guess I don't even know this guy's whole back story.
I'm not going to critique him.
And again, that's the problem, because we're gonna get to mid November, folks, and you're going to see Giant fans wanting this man's head because of a defense that can't get any pressure.
Daniel Jones gonna light it up.
There's no doubt about it.
The Daniel Jones say Kwame Barkley.
These guys are the real deals.
They've done a great job.
I know Damon Jones has had his struggles with fumbling, and I don't even want to hear about it because, you know, Lamar Jackson wasn't exactly the Mark Jackson fumbled a lot, and then all of a sudden, look what happened there, You know I'm not.
I'm not comparing the two by any means, but Daniel Jones had a very good year for a rookie quarterback.
Now you're changing his coordinators.
You're changing his head coach like that's you know, and the Jets did the same thing with Sam Darnold.
So it's not like I'm being one thing.
I didn't like the fact of that happening to Sam Darnold either.
Yeah, but again, I just don't understand how this makes sense, I think the Eagle's worm or likely to fire their head coach for reasons as opposed to the New York Giants because you could see where the problems were with the New York Giants on their defense is no doubt about it.
I have nothing to do with Pat Shurmur.
So he's not the one bringing the bringing, given him this defense.
So basically the back story, I mean, a little bit of a back story, because this is the only really what I what I know about, um, Joe Judge.
Obviously, nobody knew anything about this guy because this just kind of came out of nowhere.
Like, it would be almost unfair if they hired this guy.
They had an abysmal season, and even at some point that maybe decided to fire.
Well, listen, I don't like Freddie Kitchen safe.
I feel like the way that they're gonna work this.
Okay, So now Joe Judge worked under Bill Belichick for eight years, worked under Nick Saban for three.
So those heir to a huge name head coaches in their respective sport, Um, so that that's interesting for them.
But I feel as though they're going to bring in Jason Garrett as the offensive coordinator.
Now I think it also is to bring in Jason Garrett to kind of teach this guy how to be, you know, a head coach.
Um, I think you'd be a good move for Jason Garrett.
You know, he can, you know, he he obviously loves to run the bowl.
So the Giants offense is an offense you want to get your hands on and you're a potential chance at another head coaching with with Jason Garrett.
It just got stale with the Dallas Cowboys.
Don't get me wrong.
He's a great guy.
Um, that's all you hear from players media, anybody around Dallas Cowboys.
Jason Garrett has always been a great guy.
Um, and that is not the reason.
Like obviously everybody, every cow boyfriend doesn't hate Jason Carroll.
It just got to the point where it's nine and 1/2 years now, you know, and you haven't even I mean you did sniff it, but you never even got to an NFC championship game, okay? And for all the coaches that were, you know, up there in the same amount of years with a team, every single one of them has either made it to a Super Bowl or won a Super Bowl.
And I think they all want a Super Bowl.
So to me, that was crazy.
Um, the Dallas Cowboys hire Mike McCarthy.
They kind of stealing from the Giants, which the Giants were interview.
They were supposed to.
Well, they did interview Mike McCarthy.
They were supposed to interview Matt Rule.
The the, uh, from what I heard, the of the Giants did not want to give Matt rule the the money that the Panthers gave him, which is mind boggling to me because no one cares about how much Ah, head Coach makes because you usually don't know.
First off, second off, it doesn't do anything to the salary cap.
So why would a fan or anybody else care about you know what a coach makes? And third, basically, you have the money.
Why not give it to him? So that's that's what it looks like as a Giants fan is, you know you had Mike McCarthy and as a interview for the job, it goes right back to what I just said.
Any of you signed Matt Rule to a huge contract like that and the New York Giants come out next year and are absolutely garbage because it does not matter who their signal callers at that point, who their play calling is coming from.
They don't have the personnel to win a Super Bowl just yet.
I know because I'm a Jet fan, and I know we don't have the personnel to win a Super Bowl, no matter who is our head coach right now.
So I mean, obviously, if you're if you're Mike McCarthy, you go and you see the giant.
I mean, who are you going like exactly? So now that the Cowboys hire Mike McCarthy to a five year deal, he automatically brings him Mike Nolan as a defensive coordinator, which I I like.
I like that a lot.
Um, I liked the hiring for the Dallas Cowboys.
McCarthy lead the Green Bay Packers, too.
125 and 77 over 13 regular seasons Um, obviously, he won a Super Bowl in Dallas Rogers.
But let me let me, like, you know, bring up some other things.
All right? So basically, the comparison between Sean Payton and Mike McCarthy is like, really? I mean, Sean Payton. Eight and seven.
Three NFC title games.
Super Bowl ring.
McCarthy six Division titles.
Playoff record for NFC title games. One.
Super Bowl ring.
I mean, when you look at like the top quarterbacks and the coaches other than obviously New England, you have McCarthy and Roger's wondering.
Peyton and Breeze wondering Carolyn Wilson.
One ring, Dungy Manning wondering.
So you look at that and you're like, All right, well, not many coaches or any coaches have gone out.
It's very simple seeming in September.
I don't need those numbers.
Let's see how Mike McCarthy Mike McCarthy is second most playoff wins by NFL head coach since 2006 which obviously number one is Bill Belichick.
So four NFC championships one Super Bowl.
The Cowboys haven't made an NFC championship game since 1995.
We need it, but we need him, so I like it.
And obvious and actually news just broke that the Cowboys hired John Fossil for their special teams.
Ah, so that's that's good.
I like him as you know, special teams coordinator, obviously, because, you know, he's been with the Rams.
Um, and he's actually done well with Ram.
So I like that, um, you know, and then, you know, as we said, Matt Rhule signs with or gets hired by the Panthers s.
You know, the only one that we're really waiting on now is the Browns toe higher.
And, you know, there's a lot of, you know, guys out there.
Ah, the coordinator for the offensive coordinator for the Chiefs.
Maybe he is a name that you know is in the mix.
Um, there's a lot, you know, Urban Meyer was brought up.
Ron Rivera ended up getting hard right away by the Redskins.
So, you know, you look at the NFC East now you have Doug Peterson, coach of the Ah, the Eagles.
You have Joe Judge, the coach of the Giants, and then you have Mike McCarthy for the Cowboys and Ron Rivera for the Redskins.
But the Eagles are the only team in the NFC East that's keeping their head coach.
Yes, I promise you, the Philadelphia Eagles will not finish in first place next year.
I don't care who it is.
It could be the Giants Redskins.
I don't have no idea yet because we have, AH, long off season of moves to be made and teams getting better and along the lines of that.
But there's no way.
But the Philadelphia Eagles will be a good football team next season unless they change the man leading at all.
Because I've never seen anything like it.
And the guy's decision making is incredible, and we're talking the same guy that has gone for so many quarterbacks.
Things with Carson Wentz and thank God Carson wants is a gym at it.
His decision making is only questionable.
That's what that was the play that I've seen so many games where they could have went for three on all those times they, you know, turned it over on downs.
We're talking a new like a new season, almost a much better season and maybe not a match of first round against, you know, uh, the Seattle Seahawks, I so not not a fan of Peterson.
It all, as you could tell.
Yeah, and there's really I'm a Jet fan.
The Eagles air irrelevant to me.
So have such hatred for me.
Just shows how bad of a head coach is.
Well, before we move on to our picks for the divisional round, Um, we brought it up the XFL.
Obviously, the XFL starts after the Super Bowl, so it's in February, and they just came out with their rules today, Um, there's three options.
After scoring a touchdown, you can get a one point play from the two yard line, a two point play from three yard line or a three point play from the 10 yard line.
There is no option to kick an extra point, a shootout style over time.
Each team will get five single plate possessions from the five yard line.
If the game is still tied at that point, the rotating possessions will continue until there's a winner.
The XFL hopes that overtimes will be rare, in part because of the multiple options for points after touchdowns, a rule that allows to forward passes on one play, which is interesting.
Um, providing the first doesn't go past the line of scrimmage.
The purpose is to encourage creative trick plays without the risk of losing a position of a lateral or a backward pass, which is the live ball if it hits the ground, a kickoff designed to discourage touchback and increase the likelihood of return the ball the absolute opposite of the NFL.
The bull be kicked from 30 yard line, but the coverage and blocking teams will line up at the receiving teams 35 the 30 yard lines, respectively.
On Lee, the kicker and returner can move until the ball is caught, or three seconds after it hits the ground.
A touchback will be spotted at the 35 yard line.
Ticks out of bounds will go to the 45 yard line.
Players can't leave the line of scrimmage on the puns until after the kick.
Any kicks that go into the end zone or out of bounds will be marked at the 35 yard line or wherever the ball went out of bounds, whichever is better for the receiving team.
That idea is to discourage fair catches and coffin corner kicks while providing Maur incentive to go for it on fourth down So those are just some of the the rules.
Um, is there any other rules that caught your eye? You know, earlier? No.
I think the one thing that catches my eye is the fact that you know, Bull going out of bounds to your line automatically go 7 35 I think that's in a mating rule, because I think, you know, it's got again.
It's gonna bring more contact of the game.
And, you know, the problem is that we keep talking about the NFL and what's a good hit and what's not a good head, and all this kind of the XFL might throw all that out the window real quick.
Now you're gonna play in this league at your own risk, you know, And, uh, again, it's It's ah, it's interesting.
I hope everything is good, you know, in regards to safety and everything else.
Ah, but again, they just want the game to be, you know, You know, I just adjusted to a different approach against the best way that I was really very, you know, definitely interview.
Um you know, I was intrigued with the A f l.
I think after the first week.
It kind of stale doubt.
But I think that after the first time with the XFL, obviously, a lot of people like the XFL back in the day.
When it first came out, it just I guess you know that it was just different.
Everybody wanted everyone was a but I mean, like, you know, there was a lot of football fans.
I mean, there was a lot of, you know, a lot of even today.
There's still a lot of wrestling fans and people love Vince McMahon.
Yeah, the guy's a king in their eyes and again.
Ah, you know what? He wants to be the king of a football league.
Then let's let's see what happens.
He went through the right people and the right things to get this league back.
And I feel like that is where this leak succeeds personally called me for play by play.
If they want they really well, the other.
The other thing is, actually you should really looking for that broad would, um, but you know, they with this league, you know, I think it's just gonna be different.
The NFL was down pretty big when it comes to um, you know, people going to games, you know, the percentage from like last year to this year was was down.
Well, it's becoming. I know.
In fact, it's becoming a known fact that people do generally like to watch the games either at a bar, um, or at home.
But the main idea is that people want to watch the game on television.
Look at the technology that we have, and that's why you know, you have these big, huge screen TVs, the HD ah, four K now and all that, you know, It just it makes it so much better.
And not to mention you're not spending $600 on tickets.
Um, you know, this has to do with the merely millions and millions and millions going into it.
That's what salary kid in the NFL is probably the smartest thing to keep.
I'm still, you know, I still love going to sporting events because it's just there's nothing like it.
So I'm I'm not in that crowd, but I understand that crowd basically.
So, um, you know, it's it's different, basically, and I'm I'm interested.
As I said, I'm intrigued to see how the XFL goes and I think we're just gonna We're gonna talk about the XFL.
Um, just as much as we talk about the NFL, you know, now it's like we have another football league to talk about on this show, and we always said, football is the easiest.
I would just love to see how this works out.
It's gonna take them.
When does it start? I think it's like February 20 something nish right around that time.
Well, so right after the football.
So it's literally, like right after.
So it'll be interesting to see how the you know, even like fantasy sports and stuff like that.
There's a lot that goes into it, so exactly, and it's so much different now from when it first came out.
But a lot of the defense team might not be a big thing this year on the first year of it.
By next year, folks, I promise it'll be a lot if it succeeds this year, it's gonna be very, very interesting.
Who's your team gonna be there? Are you gonna take the New York team? Yeah, I can't to be honest with you, because Kevin Gilbride is the head coach and it just He was terrible with the Giants, and I just, uh, So I'm shooting with the Dallas Renegades.
Stay with Dallas. Yeah.
So what's the New York team's name? And Ah, the gladiators, I think. **** right, baby.
So all right, I don't know.
It shows how much I know about the city, but again, you know, I like that good.
I'll be able to learn.
Well, that's the thing we'll start to.
We'll start to bring it up more and more as news breaks.
And but those are very interesting.
Yes, and as it gets closer to the season, so we're interested.
Do you want to talk about the Islanders real quick before we get to the playoffs? Or do you want to just kind of roll into the playoffs? It's very simple folks around this.
We're having a little bump in the road, and it's still playing pretty good hockey, and I just got to keep it going.
My issue with it is that they're losing two teams that are not currently, but they're beating teams that are, and that's the name I'm gonna meet.
Know that I understand that I understand But it's also, um, they're not scoring as much.
You know, they just one yesterday in a very I was in the kind of games I wanna win.
And especially in the playoffs, when those teams that are hot and scoring goes left and right, that stuff goes cold.
And unfortunately, it's happening for the others right now.
But it goes, inhabits every team in the defense, is what we're gonna lean on.
And that's really what it comes down to.
That thing with the Islanders that scared me.
It's just how good they played in the beginning of the season.
And they didn't really gain any ground, was that? That's kind of ready to the Washington Capitals Capitals.
I watched the whole thing occur and he was just They were just great.
So, yeah, and, um, you know that they finally won in Nassau Coliseum after, like, a three game losing streak.
So that the largest in all this time? Yeah, yeah, that that kind of made me feel a little bit better.
Um, you know, and Ilya Sorokin, um, the star prospect that the Islanders do have the goalie, um, is currently being shopped around S Oh, that's gonna be interesting to see how that works out.
Um, the coming weeks, I guess the baby.
But we owe running up the score, picks and predictions for the divisional round.
All right, good.
Yeah, s So we got the divisional round, I'm going to take a really long time ago.
That was like that one day that we just did week one way, So I kept it around.
So we're gonna start off with the first game 4 35 on Saturday, Vikings at the 40 Niners.
The spread in this game is seven.
San Francisco's favorite.
I honestly think this actually might be a very low scoring game.
People understand how great Minnesota's defense's.
I thought they did a great job against the scene of the first round of the playoffs.
It's not gonna be easy for San Francisco points.
I think the seven points here in Minnesota is the way to go.
And I think both defense is gonna equally be great.
Um, you know, I just I don't see San Fran being able to score some crazy amounts of that.
They can cover seven points eyes my winner.
I'm probably gonna go with Minnesota with the upset.
I like San Francisco.
I mean, I was kind of on the fence with them, but after the game that they won against Seattle, where that Seattle was playing.
Going into that game, I just kind of showed me something in that they're 13 and three.
They're playing at home on.
I think, you know it's gonna be so having more Dalvin cook.
That's still a little banged up.
So, you know, I'm still, you know, a little.
I'm trusting Dalman Coke in the Minnesota running game Before I tried trust.
I don't even know who is it this week for San Fran.
Starting to see the thing is like you have Garoppolo that, you know.
It's just he's so insistent about it, so you don't know.
And that's why I'm gonna go with seven.
Minnesota. I feel like that's the smart bet.
I think I'm gonna go with you on that, But I think San Francisco So we move on Saturday, 8 15 the Titans at the Ravens.
This is a big deal.
Nine and Brandon Ravens or move on Ravens.
You're just gonna You're gonna go with the nine.
I'm going everything.
There's any stopping with more Jackson.
I'm 110% with you on that.
I think the Ravens are going straight for a suitable to me now, like there's barring an injury, what they're they're gonna I am so interested to see.
And I'm so intrigued, and I just I wanted to happen.
I wanted to be the Ravens and the Chiefs in the NFC Championship game.
That game will be unbelievable.
And now, to me, that would be a toss up.
That would be a toss up.
There's nobody really talking about Pat Mahomes and the Chiefs.
I mean, for someone that was, like, talked about like crazy last season going into the middle of the beginning of this season, obviously, until he got hurt.
I mean, it's just we're not talking about so to me.
I want that game.
So therefore, I'm going with the Ravens with the nine and 1/2 and we're going to Sunday's Game 305 Texans at the Chief's.
I'm going with the Chiefs as well, and I'm gonna take the nine as well.
Yeah, I mean, it's certainly the same feeling because I want to know the Chiefs.
The events have been very good.
And again, I'm going defense on all these games.
And obviously, I just think Baltimore is a bit of defense.
And the Titans, that's honestly why it's a slam dunk for me.
And the same thing goes with the Chiefs again.
I can't say that their defense, who is the chief's defense, is this? No, they played really well the last couple of weeks.
Yeah, but, you know, again, this is a streaking sport right now.
They're on fire, they have the confidence, and I have full ability and then keeping that going.
And, you know, even if they do give up points that used in which they probably will the Chiefs I really don't think it will be almost impossible for the Chiefs to not be driving.
The boy will on the Houston defense uses the events, minutes, disgrace chiefs of winning this by night.
Yeah, well, actually, no, I don't want it to be a push.
They're gonna be It's gonna be more than that.
I don't want to push to get going.
So then Sunday, 6 40 see hooks at the Packers.
I want to see hooks to win on, then lose next week.
Just cause I don't like the Packers, and I don't like the Seahawks, but I don't like the Packers more than the Seahawks this this week.
And then next week, I won't like to see how I'm gonna give them.
I'm gonna go inside.
Oh, no, Wait, hold on.
No, the packet, it's it's for It's for my apologies.
Well, it's weird because we got It's okay.
You scared me there.
Well, we don't have Oh, there it is. Nine and 1/2.
So it's for that.
Makes more sense than I'm going with Green Bay minus four.
And I'm gonna go Green Bay to win this game.
I think again we go down to this.
We've talked about it, so I know how great Russell Wilson's been.
I know that Seattle just shut down, you know, the Philadelphia Eagles and everything they were all about, But again, I really put the defense of advantage to the Green Bay Packers.
Their defense has been under really one of the best in football on it goes with the Saints throughout.
The Saints had a great D to again, so it's like that's why again, I'm really high on the Minnesota Vikings.
But I'm gonna get the package here, and we're going to see an NFC North showdown in the NFC Championship game, which will be a great one on again.
I actually see the Packers going to the Super Bowl.
It's not gonna happen.
Seahawks going when this I'm going.
Plus for for the Seahawks and the wind money line.
Baby, I would love McCarthy's old team to win a Super Bowl right after McCarthy.
He's so funny, and I would love to watch Dallas for the next five years.
Don't start with the It's not funny at all.
So let's hope that Aaron Rodgers loses just because he deserves it.
But yeah, that that will do it.
