Good morning, everybody.
And welcome to it is a divisional round addition.
We have four great games this weekend.
We're gonna focus on two of them today because that's that's what we got here on a Saturday.
So I would like to say Welcome to everyone out there listening on.
SportsCastr watching on SportsCastr I encourage you all to interact with show.
Uh, send us some questions.
Give us some of your predictions in the chat room. Check it out.
Um, but as you can see, it is not just me.
I am joined by Mr Brandon Ray and with no camera, there's no video, but I assure you he's there.
R F P C ah 40 Niners managing an editor Ryan Advert Dorada is here.
Ryan, How we doing today? Good morning.
It is early, but I am excited for today.
Yes, that's right.
He's He's been up really early.
He's on West Coast time, so I'm energetic.
m. here on the East Coast. 7 a.m.
For him out in the chilly, chilly Southwest.
As as you said, Yeah, it's Ah, it's 40 degrees right now and it's a little weird, but I like it. So, yeah.
Walked around this morning to wake up.
And look when it's all said and done, he's the only one of us three that actually has a team playing this weekend.
In fact, they're actually playing today, and they're the first game of divisional weekend.
So Ah, for Brandon and I, we will sit here and pretend like we we could be involved in this situation.
Brandon's used to it.
Um no offense, Brandon, but hey, just saying it how it is.
But look, we got two great games, State.
We're gonna break down.
We got Minnesota San Francisco, obviously, to kick it off at 4 35 Tennessee and Baltimore to follow tonight at 8 15 so I I I gave my picks already.
Ah, if you listen, f p c radio live.
So will be no mystery to those out there.
Ah, however, I'm going to get you guys to give your selections here by the end of the show or by the end of the segment that we start talking about these two teams.
So, of course I don't have any of my papers in front of me.
So I'm gonna have to awkwardly stretch across the camera here to grab them and, ah, we can get started.
So ah, you know what? Let's rock and roll with Minnesota.
It's the first game I think it's going to be.
Ah, hell of a game.
First off, I think you have San Francisco, who for the most part, has been you could argue with Baltimore, the best team in the league from start to finish.
They often occupied that top seed in the NFC for much of the season, except for that awkward period of time where they dropped down to fifth seed for a couple weeks.
But we don't really talk about that.
Um, look, I like ball.
I like San Francisco.
Ah, I I like their defense.
I like what they bring on offense.
I think Jimmy Garoppolo is certainly a capable enough quarterback toe elevate his game.
And you know, look, I understand the questions that may ah surround Jimmy grapple because he hasn't done it.
I actually, I I released.
Ah primer division round primer loud late last night, early this morning, and one of the things I mentioned was Jimmy Garoppolo is getting his first career NFL start, but yet he already has two Super Bowl rings or postseason start.
So it's kind of a weird dynamic where it's like, Yeah, you know, a player taking his first postseason NFL snap has ah, already has two Super Bowls under spell, obviously having won them as a backup to Tom Brady, but it's still there.
So, Ryan, I'm gonna I'm gonna ask you what you're having followed this team very closely, you know, both professionally and personally.
Ah, how do you feel about Jimmy Garoppolo in this? Ah, big moment.
Do you think he's, Ah, the guy that really is going to elevate his game and have his if need be, have the game fall on the shoulders? Do you think he's gonna be able to do it? Well, just judging from the regular season and how we perform, especially down the stretch. Yes.
I mean, everyone talked about the fact that they played Green Bay.
They played Baltimore and they played in New Orleans in consecutive weeks, the toughest that any team has really faced that late in the season.
And he performed amazingly well.
Like if you look at the stats during those final few weeks.
I mean, he was one of the best quarterbacks in the NFL, and he's shown any time that they needed him.
He's come through whether it was games against the Cardinals on that Polly Nightwear, there was no running or whether it was even against Seattle when they needed late.
Same thing with, you know, in New Orleans.
He's shown that he could take the offense down the field.
He knows the offense well enough, and he finally has receiving options outside of George title.
So I'm actually not too worried about him.
I'm more or less worried about the 45th.
Yeah, and because, you know, on the flip side is like another.
I guess player, that's really gone under the radar in terms of performing well and really stepping up is Kirk Cousins.
I mean, we could make jokes about him all all you want, but, um, he and that offense it is rolling.
And I think a lot of questions about Adam Phelan is injury Last week were answered, and of course, you know that's gonna be a concern moving forward, but certainly you're gonna be too, too concerned about, Like you just assumed this offense is gonna get rolling.
So, um, Brandon, also to you.
What do you What you looking for? Two.
Most in this game before you really dive into some of the specifics.
But what what do you specifically are? Maybe not specifically on a broader scale.
What are you looking for in this game? I'm looking to see if Jimmy G has that factored.
Like you said, he's This is his first post season career start, but with two Super Bowls.
So that's kind of like, uh, we don't know what he's got.
What I look in is I'm gonna compare this to the recent head coaching, hiring the NFL.
You know, Matt ruled Carolina Joe, judge to the Giants.
It's just It's like it's like you warm them, believe that you want surrounded higher, but you don't know that I feel much drop because he's never played in a postseason game.
Playoff football is much different than regulation the football, as you both known, and I think that he's going to be tested against the the minutes of the defense who just shot down your breathe last year, you know, one of the greatest quarterbacks of all time.
So this is my generation anyways.
Best Vikings defense.
This is the perfect opportunity to shut down what's supposed to be this type of Super Bowl caliber for around his team.
With the right quarterback at the helm.
I think that Garoppolo needs to be hit with reality.
So what do I expect to see? I expect Rob Lowe to regress.
Actually, I don't see him golden for shoot like 253 100 yards, three touchdowns.
I only he clips over 200 today.
So I think the minister of defense just too good.
I think they're stepping up the right time.
So I'm expecting to see Jimmy Graham will be tested from the first to the board.
Well, the good thing for the 40 Niners defense is they are expected to have d Ford back, and Kwon Alexander was activated off the injured reserve.
So with the expectation that you know if you're going to activate him, he's gonna play today, So that should certainly be a boost for things.
40 Niners defense that again is it's been a really good unit from start to finish So, uh, Ryan, my question for you is, is how how is this defensive front seven going to limit what delving cook Dalvin cook can do on the ground? And from there, what Kurt Cousins can do through the play action game and in things of that nature, well, one thing that we've seen with before Daniel's defense this year is that they're really good at adjusting after, especially the first couple of Dr.
There's one thing that Robert Solid doesn't get.
You have great for its adjustments in game.
It's very difficult from a defense standpoint, drastically change or alter what you went into the week, you know, preparing for.
So when you look at the the Vikings and their offense, it's very similar in the ways that they attack you, too, what before the energy themselves.
So there's a lot of zone runs, especially towards the outside, with someone like Dalvin Cook.
They like to use multiple tight ends.
They like the you know they have their two outside receivers, but it all comes down to really just the edge.
And that kind of worries me a little bit because while Nick Bo says I don't expect any Willow Road drop off from him, he'll make his play is still causes pressures.
Having having quantum Alexander back is a big help, because when he was healthy, he was just very good with his tackle percent engine and not having those missed tackles.
That really hurt the 400 defense last year and the fact that you have drink driving law playing so well right now, I think that they have the front seven to do with my biggest concern is really stopping the run.
That's gonna dictate everything.
Kurt Cousins has not performing well when he doesn't really have a run game around him this season.
So that's gonna be the big thing I have.
I have faith in the poor enters front seven because of the fact that, you know, they've seen these types of offenses and they've been able to, you know, start making stops with me, too, as high scoring as that.
Sean's game was in New Orleans it earlier this year.
They got stops towards in the game that gave your offense a chance to come back.
Same thing in Seattle.
We had that huge stop.
We saw that huge stop against you know Seattle at the very last second.
So I mean, the defense right now is kinda in this mode of they feel a little disrespected because of the fact that people have kind of jumped off the Bad Dragon s o.
The fact that you have someone like Juan coming back, you also have crossing party.
Who's going to be back there? It's safety, and that's a huge.
That's a big thing, because he's a guy who can cover your tight ends entries up Jimmy Ward toe play, No coverage with with one of the Minnesota receiver.
So I like how this defense matches up.
Surprisingly, um, I'm just a little worried about them having the guys at the defense of lying to really consistently get the penetration consistently getting pressure.
You know, it's an interesting stat from ESPN that when the Niners had both Nick Bosa and D Ford on 160 before snaps without both of them on the field, they had 24 stacks on 801 snap.
So, um, having both of them on the field is huge, and and that's something that, you know, I was really looking at for the 40 Niners heading into this game, which is how, uh, how much they are, how fortunate they are to get some reinforcements.
Ah, at least in terms of health and players healthy with this two week by week.
And, of course, having kwon Alexander return is is certainly something Thio certainly some to keep an eye on.
And, ah, you know, obviously will help with your slowing down Dalvin cook because again, if you if you let him start getting his yards on the field And, you know, look, our cousins is gonna have a field day throwing to Stefan Digs and and Adam feeling, I mean, because the fields just gonna open up for the 40 Niners, defense is good, but you can on Lee, you know, cover those guys for so long and you know, when you can't slow down the run or you're having a hard time picking up the play action, then you know it's gonna be a long day.
But I I do feel like the 40 Niners are capable of doing that.
And Ryan, you brought up a great point.
You brought it, brought up the gauntlet of games that they went through earlier this season against some of the very best in the NFC.
And it's, um it's hard to not look at that.
It's something ah, significant in terms of how you respond to adversity or how you come into the games like this because now they're looking at it's like, Look, they've already gone through our stretch like this where a lot A lot of teams don't do this in the play in a playoff run, let alone a regular season run.
So, uh, you know, I think that's gonna play dividends in terms of confidence for this team and just, you know, getting them off to a hot start because you don't want to come out slow a team that, you know.
Obviously, the 40 Niners themselves were in the Super Bowl not too long ago.
But this team is very, very new to ah, competing for one in terms of under this coach under this quarterback.
So you don't want to get doubt into your minds early on, because again you have a two week by week, come out slow.
Maybe you start thinking double thinking twice about it.
But having that Gotland early in the season I think is going to pay dividends.
So for you, Ryan Who on offense, outside of Jimmy Garoppolo? Obviously.
Ah, who do you think is going to be the the X factor in terms of, ah, skill player on this team? Because I happen to really like Emmanuel Sanders.
Given what he's gone through, what he's experienced in his ability to just create plays for Jimmy Garoppolo.
Do you agree with me, or is there someone else you have in mind? I agreed to an extent that Debo sample Excuse me? That kind of gave him answer.
I bring that Emmanuel Sanders is gonna be a big key, but it's gonna come down to also how well Debo Sandals play.
I mean, Gates, you've seen over the last four or five weeks of this and how much they really just schemes for him.
Not so much target him in the passing game or anything like that, but they've actually steamed up plays for him.
We saw him score an end around against Seattle stuff like that, where they drafted him.
See this past dispatched on a draft specifically for these types of games, you know, they look at him.
As you know, he came out as a guy who kind of resembled Anquan Boldin and accept faster.
Really, That's what it came down to, someone kind of like a Pierre Garson in his prize.
So 40 Niner fans have an idea of what Pierre Garson could do towards the end of his career.
But if you any time they played against Indianapolis or no, I'm sure you and your remember yard our son crying, being able to do some very special things.
And I think deep lochs.
Daniel can do that if not on that level better.
But I think he's gonna really be a factor.
Where, see, I believe the Vikings air going out kind of pinpoint, obviously, George Kittle.
I expect some bracket coverage.
I also expect them to kind of shade their secondary more towards Emmanuel Center because he is the veteran.
He's the guy who has played in big game and put up big numbers.
But I think Depot is gonna have his one ones and he's gonna have, you know, chances to really make big plays.
And if he can, if he can get a touchdown on some kind of run or a big put me through the years.
That's really just gonna lift this offense because they seem to just thrive on those types of big chunk plays because, I mean, let's be honest, there aren't very many offensive minds who can steam up players open.
And why open to like Cartwright had can.
He does a fantastic job, and and again, I mean you you do need I mean, those guys are You need to have skill to be able to get that consistently open and do that good of a job.
Brandon, what about you? Who you looking for? In terms of offensive X factor for this team? I think it's the clear cut quarterback.
You know, you only go as far as your quarterback, and this is where I come back to set it.
Jimmy G has the it factor.
I'm not saying he doesn't or he won't have it.
But until I see that it does have that I can't say that this 40 Niners offense goes anywhere.
If I say that this X factor in their states Jimmy G, because, like I said Emmanuel Sanders from George Kittle, it's because he's gonna utilize office around him.
I think that Garoppolo have so main maintained well, underneath the pressure of the blanket remembering him.
And I think that with with the offense here, I mean, I like Emmanuel Sanders.
I think that's a great beat.
George George killed a security blanket.
If he us those in a right time and force the ball in between a little window, I think Robin makes the place.
I think that the X factor for the Niners is their quarterback.
And look, I think you know Les.
You both right? Because ultimately, this this seems to be a discussion going on in the chat room right now on SportsCastrs, like the overall theme here is, it really comes down to the lines.
And I know this will make you happy, right, Because I know you're a ah, offensive defensive line guru.
You love you, the offensive and defensive line playing.
And really, I think this is ultimately what's going to decide this game because, you know, we talked about these offensive X factors for the 40 Niners.
Um, you know, none of it's none of it's gonna work if if if the Vikings defensive line starts getting pressure and putting pressure on Jimmy Garoppolo Because again, now you get him off his spot.
Now you're making things uncomfortable for him.
And you don't want that consistently throughout the game.
I who no one does.
I mean, you would always want a clean pocket, but I think they're just The lines in both of these games are just so important.
Um e I mean, there are every game, but this just has to me a feeling of it's gonna be won in the trenches and eventually, um, I see it as a somewhat high scoring game.
I don't actually, I don't know.
I I since I already put out my prediction, I'll give you guys my prediction.
You guys can can discuss it.
But I picked the 40 Niners to win this game 28 2 27 I think it's gonna come down to a final play.
Um, it just to me this has this has the kind of a knockdown drag out fight where called these quarterbacks.
There's probably gonna be a turnover from both teams, I think, Um, but ultimately, I think the 40 Niners are gonna win this game because I think they are the better team, and I have a lot of respect for the Vikings.
And I do want to pat myself on the back because I did pick the Vikings last week to win.
So one that one of the few people to do so, um So what do you guys think? Do you think it's gonna be a closer game like kind of, Ah, lower scoring game, Higher scoring game, My right in the ballpark here, Brandon.
Oh, let you start, Ryan.
Whoever wants start writing.
Okay, so basically, I I honestly, it's I think it's gonna come down to the 1st 5 10 minutes of this game.
It's Look, it's it's going to be in Saving and Levi's.
They've shown this season, especially when you know this team is really good.
You know, the fans were there, and the fans create have created some crazy environments in this season, especially made of the year.
So you know the fans are gonna be there.
It's going to be a Rockets crowd the way that this 400 defense plays.
They love that atmosphere.
They've really helped create that atmosphere you mentioned.
It's gonna come down to the lives and Yeah, I do love hearing that type of conversation.
It's one of my favorite things to do.
Talk about offensive defensive lines.
But for the 40 Niners, it's gonna come down to you know who's who's who's coming, who's which Tackle is gonna be playing gets to playing their best, you know? Are we gonna have issues with the new 100 coming through that? You know, every stamp it's gonna come down to Joe Staley that's going to come down to, you know, Mike McGlinchy.
Those guys can really hold up.
I surprisingly have a lot of faith on the interior line.
They've been playing relatively well this season, but it's gonna come down to those tackles because when the 40 under SEC struggled on offense, one or both of those guys, either having been there because of injuries or, you know, just have it played well, I don't see it as close to the game as you do.
Um, it's I honestly feel like it's gonna be one of those games where the foreigners get out early and just start dominating.
You would put the run game and that play action game because I don't know of any offense that right now at least that can run the play action as well as the 40.
Understand, Minnesota is very good, but the 40 Niners, because of guys like Kettle and the way he can block I'm just kind of do just a lot better.
So I honestly think it's gonna be about 34 to 23.
Well, I real quick before our branding goes, I do want to ask you, um, are you concerned it all in and we're gonna I'm gonna get back to Demi g real quick because, you know, if there's one, I guess criticism of him is especially earlier in the season, he had kind of the propensity to fumble the ball and turned the ball over.
At times, the Vikings are one of four teams that have 30 takeaways this season, so they're really good at that.
Obviously, their defense is really good.
Is that something that's really concerning for you? Because if this Vikings team starts getting the better of Jimmy G early, do you think he can recover from that? Um, yes, really, to both questions.
So grapple obviously has had the English use that time to this year unless there.
You know, going for like six is something like that, because I don't know the exact step.
But basically, Jimmy grapple as a near perfect passer rating coming off of an interception.
Yeah, so he's very good at coming off of, you know, those those types of plays.
So I'm not too concerned about that, especially with how well rounded the office is now early in the season.
I mean, it kind of reared its ugly head, but the offense was able to kind of hold its hold its own.
So I'm not too worried about that.
It's more or less if he's not able to have time to throw the football.
That's gonna be the biggest concern, because I think he's going to find success against the back end of that Vikings defense, especially especially when you look at the linebacker is trying to cover George Fiddle, then moving around people Samuels.
That's if they can give Garoppolo time and he's shown he doesn't need a lot of it.
But if you could give him time, then I think this this offense can really carve up carbon like yeah, you know, and that's the thing you don't want a guy like Daniel Hunter to get going for the Vikings.
You know, you guys 14 and 1/2 sacks on the year.
If there's one thing you're you are concerned about, it's about, you know, possibly the fumbles.
I love the point that you brought up about the interceptions and how Jimmy Garoppolo response Because, look, you know, aside from again throwing gold line interceptions to lose Super Bowls or, you know, game ending interceptions so on and so forth interceptions.
I think our our way, uh, way too focused on in certain ways because I think you can survive interceptions depending on how you respond how you build off of that because the quarterback and lose, um, you know, they could lose their confidence early.
You know, it's kind of like a goalie and hockey or a picture.
If, like you give up a bad pitch or if you give up a bad goal, you can either fold with that or you can just put it in the past and move on.
And I think Jimmy G's really good.
I just, you know, concerned if if the Viking starting some pressure on him and start hitting him.
And then he starts, you know, fumbling the ball, even if you know.
So that would be my only concern for this 40 Niners offense.
Although I do think that they're gonna be able to handle that.
Um, pretty well.
So, uh, Brandon, what about you? What's Ah, what's your game prediction here.
So this was this was one game where it was back and forth because I looked at the different factors that riding point out, either.
Lord, finally, right.
I got to say that you're very knowledgeable, man.
I expect that does not like to be in these Coast guy.
I didn't really know much about the nine years up until a point.
So I appreciate you sit on that.
And I think when it comes down to the both teams, you look at where they're big strings are.
Obviously the Knights have the stronger defense, my opinion, But yeah, the head coaching is what gets because Kyle Shanahan is This is his first playoff game as a head coach.
Zimmer's been in the head.
Mike Zimmer's been in the playoffs for numerous amount of years.
Now I think the Vikings will win this Game 20 board and 20 because I think that if you allow darling, but to get into position to make plays, the open field like you, said Stefanik.
Adam feeling to set up for a good passing game.
I think extra back here is to fund Dix result blind.
I put in as their main go to guys about feeling, and this week I'm interesting.
So back in five regular season, step on days and the Vikings, they beat the Giants 2010.
But ****s only have 3 44 yards what he do.
He went on a rant about how I'm a real quarterback.
You know, this is basically A and B s off.
I'm likely targets.
What happened the next week? Seven catches, 167 yards, three touchdowns.
Now, last week at halftime, Minnesota.
Stefan digs all right.
He was visibly upset on sideline.
I'm gonna go in past history, since all Patriot fans, that's well past history.
I'm gonna start doing that now.
Do some bonding is going to be a great great expected. It's getting.
Minnesota's gonna pull this upset in San Francisco.
All right, I like it.
See, I you know, I I I thought about going, uh, somewhat with the Vikings just because I was I was happy and eager to pick them last week t to win, and they did.
But, um, I do think ultimately that the 40 Niners are going to win the Super Bowl.
So naturally, that means I would had pick him.
And I'm giving away my picks for next week if, uh, if San Francisco wins, But, um, yeah, I like it.
But it shows you how close was this game is between these two opponents.
So Ah, we're going to shift gears a little bit to the evening game, which is the A f c side of things.
And that is the Tennessee Titans heading to the 14 to, ah, top team in the NFL.
But optimum team in the NFC.
But Baltimore Ravens and, ah, from what I saw earlier, it looks like this game is going to be very messy in terms of whether I saw they're talking about 90% chance of rain with, you know, talking about 1/4 inch of rain on the ground so kind of plays right to the favor.
Both of these teams.
They're both really run heavy teams.
Obviously, the Ravens set the record for rushing yards by a team in NFL history this year between Mark Kendra on Henry A man, that's that's funny.
The wrestling kind of thio it seeped into the air into the conversation for me, right? Knows what I'm talking about.
No, Mark Ingram and ah, obviously Lamar Jackson at quarterback have, um, really obviously paste this team in terms of rushing.
And, of course, there, Henry on the other side, we saw him go off for 150 yards against the the Patriots.
Okay, so that I'm not gonna I'm not gonna mention it anymore.
We don't talk about the past, Brandon.
I know you like bringing up the past, but I'm not here.
Talk about pastime here.
Talk about the present and the president right now is the Titans have been one of the better teams in a F C for for much of the second half of the season.
Despite what their record says.
Obviously, when Ryan Tannehill took over, the things kind of started, come together for them wasn't just him, obviously, although he did have a huge hand and he just kind of completed the puzzle for them because they've been playing great defensively.
Um, really good at taking the ball away.
They have a really solid running game with Derrick Henry.
So I think this is gonna be a surprisingly closer game for much of it.
But I think ultimately they're ultimately the Ravens old gonna going to run away with this.
So I'm saying maybe through 3/4 we're talking about a once or game here, and then, you know, Baltimore really kind of puts the clamps on at home in the fourth quarter and runs away with this.
So obviously, what I'm looking for to ah, is it is, of course, Lemar Jackson.
I want to see him.
Ah, at this point, his career, what he does in the playoffs.
Because right now, you know, Look, this thing, this honeymoon with how great he's been and is kind of over because it's playoff time, you know, people aren't going to sit there.
You know, Ravens fans aren't gonna, you know, be happy if they lose in the first round regardless, um regardless of whether or not ah, they win a Super Bowl so they're not gonna be happy about that.
They they want to win a Super Bowl.
They should win a Super Bowl.
As good as this team is, so given the fact that it's gonna be a heavy weather game, how are we seeing? This is this is gonna be a very ah, throw the ball minimally and just let the two running backs and obviously Lamar Jackson, Ryan Tannehill do what they count the ground.
Because, you know, when they're talking about this, this amount of rain, this will double ah of precipitation on the ground.
Makes for a very sloppy games specially in the passing game.
So, um, I guess I thought out there Who Who's gonna lead this entire game with rushing? Which quarterback are it? Could be a quarterback running back, Whoever.
I'll let Brandon answer first because he he likes to Ah, he has a good answer.
I think I know he's gonna have a great answer, Ram.
Well, before I answer your question, I mean, let me ask you a question.
Well, beat last week.
Uh, I think I wanna hear you say it again because it feels so **** good.
They be in the A f C East champion New England Patriots and the defending Super Bowl champion New England Patriots.
Okay, you heard me sing. I hate the Patriots.
They beat the payday.
All right, Whatever Moving anything? The leading rusher is gonna be Derek Heavy.
I think that the office built a rapper and it's a pound of log.
You try and take me down with Duterte.
It's gonna be copped.
It means he's a 632 were £30 bag 64 Whatever easy.
He's bigger than my house. That's all I'll say.
I think that the offense, they're focused around him and eventually you're gonna have to throw the ball and swim in the same The Baltimore marking It was getting getting onto John the times.
But eventually, old people, they're gonna find a way to stop.
They're going to act.
And I think it's gonna come down to ah throwing contest late the fourth and I think obviously I like the more.
But I also like Tol 10.
It was very well this season, you know, up it's old last weeks of the Derrick Henry Show, but when you look at rushing just through the Russian is gonna be daring, captain, just because it's that that offense is there.
Well, and look, since I just had to admit that the patriots lost, I can give them credit, though, because I think perhaps that Tannehill game was more credit to that Patriotssecondary because, I mean, look, they've look, they've made a lot of quarterbacks kind of, you know, look out of sorts, and I and I think, uh, obviously lost in the loss is the fact that the secondary was was really good and did a really good job of limiting what Ryan Tannehill could do.
Obviously, it didn't help because they couldn't put it up.
They didn't put up enough points to beat them, but, um, yeah, so I just I wanted to interject.
So, Ryan, what do you think? Who do you think is gonna lead this game and rushing? We're kind of think outside the box.
I mean, it's staring right at you and keeping them.
So if it did, exactly he know you see what he's done this season end.
I mean, it's it's scary to see someone that big.
That surprisingly, that's I mean, you see him break out and you see cornerback.
See, thieves have a hard time getting an angle on him to track him down.
And, you know, he is just kind of that.
That offense right there, Um, part of me is hoping I'll be honest.
Part of me is hoping for the Ryan Tannehill show to come to a screeching halt this week as, Ah, Hawaii guy, I'm still a little bitter.
The fact that market is very busy at the starting quarterback like he holds a grudge like, yeah, it if we could have, like, um Obama, you know, a couple years ago in the championship game, where maybe kind of help plays bad, that markets comes in and wins the game that that great Otherwise, you know, I'm not too worried about Lamar Jackson we saw last year.
He struggled in the first half against a very, very good charges defense There.
In the second half, he came out and looked in the exact opposite of what he did in the first half, and he played pretty well and that's really the Lamar just that we saw throughout the regular season.
So I have faith that come, I hate say I have to weird saying this, but I have faith in a growing offense that they're gonna, you know, do the job in the playoffs.
And I don't really think that the Tennessee Titans have a lot defensively that can keep up.
It's actually when you look at the tight end position for Boats one, that's what they that's what they make their plays right there.
It's it's off the play action and you have one of the tight end streaking over the field.
So I don't think that the Titans are going to really be able to do much to stop, um, that passing game.
I mean, the biggest hope is that they can get in a penetration and causing turnovers.
That's really what's gonna come down to you.
Look, this Titans defense is no slouch, either.
I mean, much is obviously, you know, the narrative has been written about, you know, Tom Brady and how the Patriots offenses.
But, um, not enough credit was has been given to this Titans defense because they absolutely blanketed the Patriots receivers.
Now I do want to throw it out there that the Patriots receivers were among the worst and creating separation all season, however, that that that's what it is, what it is.
You know, this isn't a slump by Tom Brady.
I'm just gonna throw that out there.
Let's let's just let's just be clear and this is not the time or the place for this rant.
But I do want to make people aware that it's It's simmering, you know, somewhere in my mind.
But I'm gonna keep us focused on the task at hand.
And that is breaking down this game and the Titans defense Now Bogan Ryan is a stud, obviously former Patriot, but he's had a fantastic season this year.
Um, 130 13 tackles, 18 pass deflections.
It's it's It's been an impressive season.
Obviously, he capped off last week with a pick six, um, through no fault of Tom Brady, it was Mohammed Sunu not running through his route and being lazy.
But again, that's neither here nor there.
Ah, this page of this defense.
Ah, Shaun Evans, Kevin buyers.
Ah, it's no slouch.
And again, if if If Lamar Jackson and the Ravens start slow like they did last year, it could spell trouble, because again, this this time's defense isn't gonna give you give up free place and if they can lock down those receivers and Lamar Jackson can't get off on the edge and you might be talking about a pretty one game.
But ultimately, like I said, I think this is gonna be played fairly close for much of the game.
And I think at the end, um, the Ravens are going to run away with it.
I believe I wrote down 31 23 and I'm scrambling trying.
31 toe 13 is what I said.
Like I said, I think it's probably gonna be like a 13 13 maybe 13 16 17 game much of the 1st 3/4 And I think, you know, at some point in the fourth quarter, the Ravens are just going to run away with it.
But before we we kind of shift.
I do want to point out that our guy Kyle center, who's who's tuning in this morning here on SportsCastr, his bold prediction.
Justice Hill will be the leading rusher.
Now That's it, That's it. That's out of the ballpark.
That's out of blue.
That's that's a hot Take it if indeed, but we will save this.
We will screen shot and we will bring it up in the post game if he is correct, and I will be eager to see if he has because also, and this is something I failed to mention, UM, marking grooms effectiveness.
That could be a question because he has been, hey has been dealing with a hamstring injury.
So if he is somewhat limited in this game and then again at all shifts to Lamar Jackson and I'm not saying that he can't, he obviously can handle running this offense.
But again, playoff.
Hey, who knows, maybe the Titan's air? Just that team, you know, you never know.
And fortunately for you, Ryan, you're gonna have to live with Ryan Tannehill, um, leading them to victory.
I don't think the market's Mario to experience is going to happen again in ah, in Tennessee, but that's just May.
I could be very, very wrong.
So, um, so this game on on defense I created and I keep talking about the defense and it kills me every time I see her.
Shaun Evans on the Titans because I was a guy that I kind of wanted Patriots take.
And you know, you had a big game last week.
What can this Titans defense do from the defensive line? Also it also to you again, right? Because again, you're are lying guru here.
Um, I got crushed when I played defensive line. I got crushed.
Obviously, I'm just just not suited for it.
It's not my cup of tea and certainly, Ah, when people outweigh you, buy £100.
It's it's never a good thing.
Um, but so from, ah, Tennessee perspective.
What does this defensive line have to do to really limit what Lamar Jackson can do? Because we talk about it like, it's easy when we talk about Oh, just contain him, keep him on the edge.
You know what I keep him away from? Ah, gaining that edge, whatever.
It will be fine.
But obviously, it's a lot easier said than done.
How are the Titans gonna do this? Honestly, it's gonna come out to, uh, a very simple idea, which is the fact that you have to just play responsible and sound football.
I mean, if you're if you're on the defense, you just have to You're gonna you're gonna obviously have an idea of what they're gonna run the read option.
You know, that's what they're gonna do.
It's that's what they have.
But they're also just gonna run the ball and and do a lot of fakes, you know, if, as as a guy who watched Greg Roman obviously with Colin Kaepernick, you know, and just see how that offense kind of just went about it.
It's the way you're looking at the Baltimore Ravens.
And the idea is you need your linebackers to stay home you need or you need someone to stay on the edge, away from what it looks like a place that is gonna be.
I'm going to kind of focus on a guy that I I want to kind of pat myself on the back here before this.
At the end of last season, I wrote something about how I thought Howard Landry was gonna be a big breakout guy, and he's been that this year and I think he is gonna be him, and it's gonna be the edges on that defensive line and in the line back in group that's gonna have to really just be aware and not let Jackson get around the end.
I think that's where he's, you know, been at his best.
You know he will fix the handoff and just look for that edge to die, to crash in.
And if they can really just play the way they're supposed to play and just kind of follow.
Whatthe scheme dictates.
I don't have too much worry that the defense of scheme is get going to work.
It's more or less kind of.
Players run the steam, probably so if you could do that against that type of offense, it'll start slowing them.
But if you can get them to just have two or three yards again, that's that's where you're gonna do it.
You know you're not going to get the big losses.
I don't think you're really gonna force them into where they have to go into shock gunning for the football.
So you just got a limit them and tackle them as soon as you get that, That's that's really that simple.
Yeah, and look, if the weather's like it's saying it's going to be, then you know that's gonna kind of dictate what this game is gonna be, because you're not gonna be throwing the ball 40 times and torrential downpours.
It's just I mean, I I'm sure quarterbacks will tell you they'd much rather have snow and anything else but rain, rain and wind.
This is just a bad mix for quarterback play, but again, it's even.
It's it's tough on running backs to because it's really about ball security.
So maybe you're paying a little bit more attention to keeping that ball secure, as opposed to Thio picking up that extra yard or two.
And that could really make a difference in the long run.
Because again, this Baltimore Ravens team it's it's driven through the rush.
I mean, there's no doubt about it.
They can still pass the ball that can make plays in the air.
But this game, this team is driven by rushing the ball.
So if this place in their favor, um, this could be a long day for Tennessee.
However, if somehow this gives Tennessee the edge and maybe it limits.
Ah, this rushing attack by you just again, just a yard per play that you're talking about a pretty big difference and what this ah offense could do so before before we wrap up this for port portion of it.
Because I do want to remind everyone out there that Ah, we will be back.
Um, after the last whistle of the last game tonight, we're gonna kind of recap what we saw during Thursday's action before.
And then, of course, we'll be back tomorrow morning at 10 a.
Right here on SportsCastr as well to preview tomorrow's action and then the same thing Sunday night, we will breakdown the post game.
But since I got you guys both here and I asked Mike this last week on FTC radio, um, obviously, I think I know one of the teams in your ideal Super Bowl Ryan.
But with the eight teams remaining, what do you think is the best Super Bowl matchup that we that that is possible right now? Um, left? Well, you? Yes, I am a big 40.
Understand? Before the cops started, I was honestly hoping for the 40 Niners Patriots several just for the fact that you just you just stay put back then you could have seen what happened there.
Obviously being happy.
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
But right now I mean the next the next best thing would probably For me at least be a 40 Niners ravenssuper bowl, You know, a CZ.
Much as I'm a very loving person, I do hold grudges a time very way, especially sports, especially more scratches.
And so, if we could, If we could get the Arabians in a circle again, that great this time, win it, Andi and I will say, because I don't think he gets enough credit is the 40 Niners did something to the Ravens that no one else had been able to do it.
They defective league for the most part.
Shut down that ravensoffense missing a lot of players on their defense, so it would be fun to see.
But, I mean, realistically, I don't care who the 40 Niners play as long as they're there.
And as long as they went, I could care less who who it is again.
So are what have you.
I'm perfectly fine with the, uh, you know, 49 to 24 victory, my arm.
Fine, if it's win a game, but you know the extra point, I think I told the chat, uh, believe it was a week or two ago against Seattle.
I did not watch live the last few players.
I went into my room and my girlfriend was watching the game live on TV.
I went into the room, um, then just laid on the bed with my with my near two year old, and I just started to play.
Ah, for anyone who hasn't it.
Kendall switcher started playing started badly because I just could not I couldn't watch it.
And then when I heard her yelling in happiness, I ran out and re won't the DVR and watched the last place that, you know, I I Not now you can.
Now you can understand what I go through every year, just the other, Ah, deterioration of my health based on the just spikes in blood pressure and heart racing and all that watching, watching the Patriots.
But thanks, Ryan for reminding everyone that, you know the Patriots are not going to go to Seo.
So I appreciate that, But, um, I will, I will.
I have two answers to this, and one might actually surprise people, because again, you know, I know then result no matter what the results going to be.
But I do, actually, I'm gonna agree with you because I do like rematches.
And I like, um, I think it would just be a great matchup between the two teams.
I mean, regardless of the rematch factor, that's just kind of icing on the cake.
But my other one in again.
This would be probably the worst case scenario for people who interact with, like, the worst of the ah, and this is let me be very clear.
But the worst of the Packers in Chiefs fan base that for those of us who had the unfortunate ah ah task of interacting with these folks, that Super Bowl would be probably the d worse from the insufferable fan base perspective, however, the idea of being able to watch too exciting quarterbacks and and to really I mean just really solid good teams, really kind of similar in the sense that, like, you know, yes, the Chiefsoffense is far more explosive.
However, you still have Aaron Rodgers.
You still have some playmakers on that offensive side, and both defense's are pretty good.
The Chief's has actually been one of the best in the week for the last six or seven weeks.
So, um, as much as it pains me and it really does.
You don't understand.
Like, I feel like I'm getting an ulcer right now because I'm just saying this, but, you know, look, the packersfirst, the chiefs in the Super Bowl and you know, well, you know, maybe in hindsight, after the fact, I'll regret saying this.
And there's only one way to find out.
Or perhaps perhaps this is a reverse jinx on my behalf.
You'll never know.
Um, but yeah, I think those two Super Bowls or what I'm looking forward to However, even though you said it, Ryan, even though you brought it up, I will say that my rooting interest is the 40 Niners.
Although, although I know what this would create now, if Jimmy G goes on to win a Super Bowl Oh, my God.
It's gonna be a fun off season in New England with although the wacky theories that are already abound already so but yeah, those are those are those are my two Super Bowl. Ah, favorites.
What? What about you, Brandon? And I swear to God, if you mentioned you were losing way, we're gonna have to reconsider things here.
Is not It should be a s****.
That's a sad I can't get over.
You know what it is? It's because I talk so much throughout the season. That's the problem.
It's like, what? What can I say? You know, I'm like, All right, well, you know, I I thought they were going.
I've picked the patriots to go to the Super Bowl for, like, 10 years in a row.
And guess what? I've been right a lot of the time.
So you know what? I'm just not right.
Yeah, Well, yeah, but, well, ky Kyle Kyle brings up an excellent point.
Actually, if you're paying attention on the chat room, the bills lost, too.
But again, the bills, You can handle a loss like that in the playoffs.
Anyways, Go ahead, Brandon.
Have your floor.
I think you and I are gonna agree on this.
I think it's gonna be the cheese First. The Packers.
I think he got Aaron Rodgers, and then he got a rider to a point off who has more offer than Aaron Rodgers.
If that makes any sense, he's good.
He's more explosive, Rogers.
But I think that, you know, it comes down to experience and comes down the towel around.
Patrick Holmes is the best quarterback in the playoffs.
It's that's that is a guaranteed statement. Appreciate.
90% of America would say that the 10% girl Lamar, You know, I'm not find this Lamar Jackson High just yet.
That was regular season.
I want to see playoff bar and I want to see if he can continue what he's doing.
I think the results we achieved the Packers is because they're both very like very similar.
In some ways, they got good quarterbacks.
Both got good running games, The defense's air shaking, the very inconsistent at times.
I think it will be a performance.
I think of your shootout.
I'm an offensive guy.
I would love to see each team five touchdown each.
You know, like its A last year, chief first, the Rams regular season game.
Best game of my life because it was both team or 50 points 1000 yards.
I think that would be kind of what we see with Chiefs and Packers, so I think they're both just there.
I think they're both the better team in there and they're up by off conferences off who might open for them.
The underdog Tennessee.
I like. I like this Titans team.
I like Derrick Henry.
I like that defense.
I love Harold Landry, Boston College.
I love Harold Landry.
Broken Ryan's grade, especially at that pick six. That was great.
But I think that's going to achieve first of the Packers come February.
Yeah, you know, look, I like I said, I mean, it's gonna kill me If that's the case, and I'm gonna have to, like, you know, I'm gonna have just like, I think I'm gonna have to, you know, take what happens and deal with it and realize it's a lot of wackiness.
And you just wait for Tom Brady to resign in New England So I can laugh and get back to my regularly scheduled program, which is, Ah, anticipating another Super Bowl run.
But I do from my football fans standpoint, you can't get much better with them than what we're getting in terms of the potential combinations of teams.
Because, let's face it and we're going to talk.
We'll talk about this game tomorrow, obviously, on the pre show, but, uh, the seahawksfirst, the Packers is the only have the only two quarterbacks left in this playoff run that have won Super Bowls.
So we're guaranteed to at the very most get only one player.
Ah, one quarterback that is one of Super Bowl in the Super Bowl this year.
So, um, again, it's a new era in terms of some of these teams.
And, you know, I'm look, the Patriots dynasty is not over.
It wasn't over when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor.
It's not over now, Okay, but look Ah, it's very it's It's uncomfortable, I'm trying.
I'm trying to deal with it, you know? It's a new thing for me.
No, like there's so many good combinations here.
There's a lot of young up and coming teams led by young up and coming quarterbacks and some some wild cards like ran it, Ryan Tannehill and the like, Um, I think it's gonna make for fascinating rest of the playoffs, and I'm eager to watch it unfold.
So with all that said, we want to thank everyone who tuned in.
I know Ryan's got some big, big shot things to do here at 11 so we're gonna have to let him go here and we're gonna move on and anticipate the rest of this afternoon.
But I would like to thank everyone out there who paid attention and listened to us.
We will be back as soon as the Ravens and Titans game is over.
I know I'll be here.
I'm pretty sure Brandon's gonna be here, and we're gonna fill in the rest as we go.
