All right, guys.
Welcome to stream. Starting a stream just ended there.
I meant to keep my computer open but accidentally closed.
And this dream it Anyway, I am back here.
I'm gonna be talking reasons why the college football playoff should not expand and listen closely because I know 95% at least 90% people want the college football playoff to expand.
Neutral or not, a lot of people do.
I'm a neutral fan and I'm getting my take on why college, The expanding the college football playoff would be a very bad idea.
And I really think it is, either.
This isn't just a hot take.
I really think there are a lot of bad reasons with the yuck.
With the expansion, Um, there could be an expansion.
Right now they're under contract with ESPN, the college football playoff, and it can't can expands.
Like I think it's like 2023 or 2025 something like that, and that's good.
But eventually it's probably expand many people saying how the F.
C s playoff format is better.
I personally think so.
Um, Anyway, I'm gonna get into it right away, explain why we cannot expand the college football playoff awhile would be bad.
Um, so first off a little bit. Background.
College football playoff.
If you don't know a 14 playoff format, nobody's guaranteed a spot.
No conference champions.
They just do the four best teams based on a 13 person committee who they think should be in the playoff.
They vote, they get together, they talk about this stuff, Um, and yet they make a decision based on who they think the four best teams in the country are and who deserves those spots.
A lot of other a lot of factors come into play.
Does resumes like schedules? How, How much you be an opponent by all kinds of stuff like that, with your record, Are you conference champion or not? That's a big factor on the law.
We've seen different types of playoff playoff.
I'm atmospheres every single year.
This year is probably the easiest we've ever had it for the college football playoff.
Usually we have a lot of controversy, but this year it was it was easy.
They got the four teams of the exact order pretty, in my opinion, right, I could have I was I wouldn't be math.
They put Ohio State one.
In fact, I probably be happy because I think that they are the best team in the country.
But they got a right based on what the public wanted.
Based on what? Who is most deserving.
Um, so I did the community great this year, But anyway, now I'm gonna be talking about like I said, Why? It's bad.
So I give you a little bit about background.
Um, first off, let me just say many people want to expand to eight.
I was open to six a little while ago.
Now I'm not for whatsoever.
So what people want do most people.
What I've seen is they want to guarantee every single power five conference champion to have a spot of playoff.
They want to guarantee a Group of five the best group of five team toe have a spot in the plot every year, no matter what, and they want to guarantee to wild card in the playoff.
They also want to use more than your six bowls as the playoffs.
What they want to dio is they wanna have all six near six bowls being the playoffs.
Now I'm gonna tell you why.
I personally, that's crazy.
People have said 62 which would be, like all part, all power five champions make it.
And you either like a group of five teen, guaranteed or used have a wild card team.
Make it, Um, in my opinion, there's a lot of problems with that.
Especially 88 is the worst. Took him. Luke.
Welcome to the broadcast.
Eight is definitely by far the worst.
And I'm explain why the bigger you get, the worse it gets.
First off, guaranteeing a conference champion in a spot would mean that some years we have a four lost t minute.
You're gonna have a four lost team in the playoffs.
Look, in the Pac 12.
Some years you have three lost teams.
Last year Washington was like two or three losses.
They had not had an incredible season.
They end up being in Washington State, go in the championship game.
They won that, um, and like I said, um, eventually, like in conferences like the Pac 12 you'll get these two or three loss conference champions at that point while even deserving if they've lost to a team like Colorado, and they ended up winning their conference.
Why they deserving they should not meet.
I just don't understand how you could say they're one of the eight best teams in the country when they have, like, say, three losses.
Same as Virginia say we had an 18 playoff format in Virginia.
Say, be Clemson.
Say that happened.
You have a four lost conference champ as one of the eight best teams in the country.
And if Virginia be clumps, let me ask you this.
What? That change your aunt thought.
Do you really think you You have had Virginia as one of your eight best teams? The country? Not at all.
If they had being Clemson may have moved.
Moved up eight spots at the most.
I wouldn't think anything more.
The problem is, like I said, you're putting in four loss conference champions at ties to be terrible.
It would be absolutely terrible because they're gonna get destroyed like an A C C champion.
When Clemson zat Great! Ah, four loss.
A C C champion is gonna get destroyed by a one loss or zero loss FCC or Big 10 champions.
I'm gonna be close.
It's like the Orange Bowl right now.
Not even the night of the second best team in the SEC.
Like the third or fourth best team, the S E C four's got destroyed. Virginia.
Um, so I wanna make it. Wouldn't make much sense.
Another problem with it is that you would be guaranteeing are you and make it so out of conference gains.
Me and nothing Now think about this week one.
Everything's pretty much out of conference games, like literally every game.
Same thing we three. Yeah, same thing.
You have all these out of conference games now, I'm sure Week one your most excited, probably about either Louisville or Louisville versus Notre Dame.
Your own team playing or most likely, Auburn versus Oregon I know is a neutral fan house most excited for opera versus Oregon.
It was a great game.
It was a great game.
But if you make it so, Conference champion is guaranteed.
Is guaranteed a playoff spot that would make it so.
Those out of conference champion those.
I mean those out of conference games that are so exciting and they're important mean absolutely nothing so often, Oregon that this year means absolutely nothing.
Now it means absolutely nothing, because if Oregon runs a table of Auburn runs the table, they would still get in.
If Auburn Organ did run the table, they would boat.
They would be in Auburn, definitely, or Oregon turned out like they probably if they didn't lose to Ares on the state.
They probably had been in the playoffs.
But just look at it. Look it.
They wouldn't even be important, like there wouldn't be any excitement around them because they literally would be nothing same as Texas.
Ellis you. That was an exciting game.
That means nothing for the conferences because conference champions guarantee a spot.
It means absolutely nothing.
So those games were not mean anything whatsoever.
Next year, we got Oregon vs Ohio State.
I'm very excited for that game is gonna be a great game next year.
That would mean essentially nothing.
Um, so it would.
It would pretty much wiped out any importance of, um, any important soft power five out of conference games.
The only the only teams I would effect out of conference games of the Group of Five game, the only the only the only teams would effect to be Group of five teams because obviously, like I said, most people want a one guaranteed playoff.
For a group of five teams, there's 5 45 conferences, so obviously, yes, then if you're in a group of five, it might be important.
But for the power five, all those great games, it basically means nothing.
It will means nothing.
Um, so that will be one problem within a big problem, because I love seeing these out of conference games.
I love seeing how the best team in the Pac 12 compares with the best team in the Big 10 or the third best team, the SEC.
I love seeing that and now to be essentially nothing.
And it wouldn't make college football fun for the first few weeks.
I don't want to be watching.
I love Emma beat up on Louisiana Lafayette.
I would much rather watch somebody like Auburn versus Oregon's.
That's that's That's one problem with it, because if we if those games don't mean a thing in the first few weeks of college football, are absolutely pointless, they're actually points next up.
The problem with guaranteeing conference champions is with the spot.
I understand the A C C.
If you have a four lots conference champion, do you really think they're better than a two loss sec or Big 10 runner up team? Like, let me ask you, let me ask you that.
Say corruption was a limit.
Say Clemson doesn't play a C C C.
A. More students say they become independent.
Would you really think a four lost? Virginia is a better team to make the playoff than a to los runner up Georgia or a three loss runner.
Wisconsin I you you have.
That would be a very surprising take because I can get take tea.
You, Wisconsin, Ah, Georgia.
They would think there would be a virgin and pretty easily.
And it's a big thing because if you put Virginia like I said into the playoff, then will become absolutely just they would get destroyed.
They'll get absolutely story.
Thank you am scenic.
John Smith and ah Tim of Tim offer join the broadcast.
I appreciate thank everybody else for during the broadcast.
It's like I said of conference games become pointless and if you're like a 12 and one nonconference champ, that's also you.
Chances are you're not getting in the playoff on this.
That's a big problem for me.
Another thing is guaranteeing the Group of Five a spot.
As much as I love the Group of Five and some of their gains, some of their teams like Boise State, kind of like Virginia.
They will get acts they most the time.
They get absolute destroyed if they're going up against the number one team in the nation.
Yeah, they get absolutely strange.
Is it just would not make any.
There would be pointless, really, because most the time they'll get actually destroyed.
Maybe have one year, but they pull the pull, the spoiler and when one round.
But it just probably not happen that much.
That's another problem if it going back to the bull thing.
The New year, six bowls.
How to make any sense if you could win to bowl games, Nearest exposed was supposed to be designed so you can win only one bowl game you're not.
You're not supposed to win to bowl games.
That doesn't make any sense.
The bowl system is out there, so every team has a chance at one of their own I want their own bull game.
If they're six and six or higher, it's not meant it's not mental.
Be so that who lost decided to be so that the team can win to bowl games.
That doesn't make a sense.
Conservative in 18 playoff and 18 playoff, This is what you're saying.
Let's put the orange bullets for the Cotton Bowl.
Let's put the sugar.
Let's put the Rose Bowl as well as their first round bowls.
Then the next round.
Let's put say, um, who yet who am I forgetting on the Fiesta Bowl in the Peach Bowl as the the second round balls? That doesn't make a sense if you can win to bowl games.
The near six balls are designed to give those caught to at least guarantee a conference champ a spot in the New year.
That's where Conference Chance can be guaranteed to go, but but went into playing into your New Year.
Six Bowl would not make a sense.
It gives other teams a chance approved themselves.
It just would not make a sense.
But giving teams the teams were, ah, four lost team that proved themselves in the playoffs that doesn't make sense.
You put them in your six bowl.
But playing two straight bowl games, just it's It just would not work.
It would not work everyone.
The whole bowl system pretty much really would just wouldn't make sense.
Um, that's one problem.
Another problem would be, um, yeah, Like I said, the biggest problem is that the conference will be guaranteed a spot.
Um, I feel like another problem with it.
I like if you're it's it's almost like it doesn't it doesn't make the guy.
Oh, no, this is from a neutral fan perspective.
I don't know about you guys, but it doesn't make the game as exciting anymore.
This is one of the biggest topics.
It does not make the game as exciting as a neutral college football fan. My opinion.
The thing about college football that makes it so it's site exciting is that from week one, almost every single game is elimination game.
If you're gonna lose, you rather be early and you rather be to a pretty decent team.
But almost every game, once you're one loss team, is an elimination game.
Almost every game for at every team is an elimination game.
The playoffs don't start on December 28.
They really have started in August that they've started in August like the last week of August 1.
Week one, sir. That's when they've started.
You have to win every single game.
That's what makes the sport more exciting.
Where's the in the NFL? I hope you're not on the broadcast and scenic is M.
I a soldier team here, But in the NFL, you look at the NFC East, obviously, in the NFC East is gonna produce probably an eight and eight or 97 division champ.
And again, they're not really worthy off making having the chance, the shoot Super Bowl, because they've been playing terrible this year.
The Cowboys and the Eagles.
They have not been playing great If they if they do that in college football, but essentially elimination game the every week.
We're not mean something so much.
That's the thing in college football.
Every week means something.
I wouldn't want to see Alabama lose to Louisiana left eye yet, but they have a chance of the playoff.
That's not fun. It's elimination game for a reason.
You need to win every single game.
What makes Georgia versus four Georgia versus Zell issue so special? You need toe because you need to win those games to get into the playoffs.
It's an elimination game, week in, week out, which is the fun part about it.
Worse, if you guarantee Kaufman's champs, it's not expanded to eight teams.
But there's more teams and they have a chance to get in.
Not every games elimination game.
You could be a two loss, A to loss nonconference sham.
Maybe you can still get in, or you can be a one loss on a group of five champ, and you can.
You can be guaranteed a spot, which I really just don't understand.
It's every week is an elimination game.
That's how it should be.
But if you take away if you expand the playoff, what's gonna happen is games will become.
Unless me, they'll become more more meaningless.
That's what the that's what happened.
Emily, Texas. Welcome to the broadcast.
The quite frankly, become more pointless.
There really won't be Ah, like a huge urged toe win a certain game, although sidelight Saturday night football games.
You see, I guess that they just won't be as important because a conference champion is guaranteed a spot.
So it really takes the fun out of sport, which is that almost every Games elimination game you have to be very, very good to make it to the playoff.
Where's the NFL, the M B A and a chill? Half the teams make it, um, at least in the n b A in edit shell.
But it's just in college football.
You need to be very, very great.
And that's what makes it so fun about the sport.
Is you just can't you really need to win All the time we showed we had three of the four of the spots were filled by undefeated teams.
That's just when my opinion, what makes it fun? Um, I feel like the committee has a right to stay and do their job, that they've been most years.
They have gone it right.
They have got it right.
Um, usually, when they put that four seat in the force, he does find sometimes the four seed has won two of the, um, two times the college football playoff, so I really don't think the committee is doing that bad a job.
I think four is fine.
The four best teams in the nation when you expand it, you just got two teams that are not in it, not nearly as skilled and a mind.
In my opinion, there are only three teams each year you could.
You could argue there are only three teams.
Sometimes, like certain years.
Maybe this year's one of them that really only deserve that spot.
That really only on Lee deserve a chance to make the playoff.
The BCS expanded because some years we have 31 lost call from champs or three undefeated, undefeated champs.
When you had to pick one of them, we had to pick two of those out of the three, and they were all power five champs.
But the playoff? That's fine.
Every undefeated champ is gonna pretty much make the playoff all the times.
That's that's fine.
If you go into fee and you you work hard for it, you'll get the playoff spot.
But just if you shouldn't be making the play off.
If you're a two lost team and you finish 11 10 and two or 11 into that, just really just at the point at that point, It just ends the fun of college football, just, in my opinion, from a neutral fan perspective, not even a fan of ending team and ruins the fun of college football.
So I really feel like they should not expand this thing.
I hope they don't.
They're under contract right now, so they can't at the moment.
But most people are saying an 18 playoff, and I hope not, whether guarantees conference champions or not.
At that point, you're pretty much guaranteeing it.
So every conference champion to make it, Um, but it won't be as fun.
You want teams who aren't deserving, um, into the college football playoff, which is which is really sad, because you have to be very, very great.
You have to be 11 of the select few to make it in on, and I hope that doesn't happen.
Another thing is, um, once it expands to eight and the ninth and 10th teams get left out, people are gonna be saying, Why don't they make a patient may well be the same thing with the five and six getting left out and the four be putting it over.
The same thing is that people will.
The republic l cry on.
Why so and so at nine.
Was it in the playoff? I don't want to expand it More 16 to 32 People hate to a minute, but it could be a domino effect where it goes up to 32 like Mike Lee Leech wants.
That's one thing I don't believe, Um, he is right about He's right about law things.
He's not right about that.
Um, yeah, I just It's gonna keep expanding if we expand it again and look at it.
It's already expanded a few times.
He was originally before my before I was born.
There was one team was voted on after everything was after all the games were played, it was One team was voted on in the in like a pole to be the champ.
There was no playoff system.
There was no BCS championship.
Then the BCS championship came.
Um, two teams have a chance to play for the national championship.
Okay, that was some expansion and then now four teams have already expanded twice and we want to expand for 1/3 time.
So if he expected to eight, we probably will expand it again.
The fax People are gonna be mad and they're left out.
Is that just my opinion on it? On it? I really feel like on the street not expand this thing.
A lot of people are gonna disagree with me because they let they want more.
Seems to be in the playoffs, like in the other sports.
But just think about it.
Just think about it.
Do you like it? If your NFL fan, unless you're a Cowboys or Eagles fan, I can guarantee you you don't think the Cowboys or Eagles should deserve a spot in the playoffs.
Listen, they may finish with winning records.
The Cowboys, You know, they may Eagles May, but they haven't been playing great this year.
That, like that's a comparison.
That'll be what is? He'll be mad.
Virginia have made the playoffs and therefore lost team.
It just It just does not make any just does not make any sense if really just does not, um after just one thing.
And you might be a little bit confused on what I'm saying, But you can go back earlier and start that.
Um, yeah, I just I really think you'd just be better if we keep it at four.
I think it's been working pretty great so far.
And once he's never wanted and that once he has never wanted.
But they've come close.
They have come close, but yeah, that's the reason.
I think it should expand it for That's it for now.
Guys, thank you for joining in.
Um, I probably will be.
I may be on later tonight for Utah staying Kent state.
If not, then I'll try to be on tomorrow.
We have some great games.
FAA, you versus S m U.
And we also have, um, poison state versus Washington, which is a great story off.
So I'll pride do one of those, too, if I can't get on tonight.
But that is it for now, Guys, hopefully I can get on there tonight.
Um, see you later.
