Good afternoon, Saints fans.
How are we doing today? My name's Michael Belco.
I'm here with you.
With Unwrap Sports network going to go over some saints transactions.
This and that throughout the week has been a busy Jim packed week.
As far a saint's news goes, Um, this episode is going to go, uh, in a bunch of different places to try to hang in there with me.
We're gonna go over a lot of things as far as injuries transactions on.
And then we're gonna remember the life of on Johnson Road quick, who just passed away today.
But first, we're gonna start off with the good news or bad news.
Good and bad news, transaction slash injury report this and that.
All right, so let me read it out.
Wrote it all down for you guys.
Um, so here's our injury updates.
Um, defensive end Marcus Davenport and defensive tackle Sheldon Rankins both injured their ankles.
They're both out for the season of placed on injured reserve.
Um, tight end, special teamer slash tight end.
Former quarterback in college Jason Vander Land.
Um was placed on injured reserve out for the season.
Um tight and Jared Cook was limited in practice today or yesterday.
Um, so he could be a good to go this week on.
And then a new injury popped up on the injury report yesterday, and that was safety von Bell.
He was seen in crutches in the locker room within the injury.
Um, so that's obviously something that keep an eye on crutches three days before the game is never a good thing.
Thankfully, we do play on Monday, so it gives us a little bit more time to heal up.
But still, you don't like seeing your, uh, superstar potentially Pro Bowl safety on crutches before a huge matchup against the Indianapolis Colts.
Um, and then defense of Ain't Cameron Jordan with an ad abdomen injury was at practice, but he did not participate.
So, you know he's a little bit banged up to.
I'm sure he'll be good to go for Sunday, but it's definitely not good that he's being banged up.
Here's a list of guys who did not participate in Thursday's practice.
That's linebacker Kiko Alonzo.
Offensive guard Andrews peaked offensive tackle Toronto.
Armstead should be good to go for Sunday, though.
Defensive ain't Cameron Jordan also should be good for Sunday.
So those two guys kind of precautionary, holding them out of practice just to make sure they are good to go for Sunday.
They're not actually, like, super injured or anything.
They're just being held out of practice just to be sure that they will be good to go for Sunday.
Um, safety von Bell, unsure whether or not he's gonna be good to go are sorry for Monday.
Monday we got to go for Monday night versus the Colts and then corner Patrick Robinson unsure if he's gonna be good to go.
Monday, first of the culture, not limited.
Participation was tight.
Hopefully, he's going to go.
He got a concussion in the game on Sunday.
Hopefully, he's going to go with an extra day of rest.
Um, offensive linemen will clap.
He should be good to go. A. J.
Klein was limited.
Input was limited participant in practice.
So hopefully he's good to go and then full bags act.
Lying should be good to go.
Um, so with all those injuries, the Saints did sign some new people.
We signed three new guys tight and Darryl Adams.
So we put on the practice squad, Um, kind of get used to the system broke what? We might use him as a special teamer.
I haven't really done too much research on him.
But, you know, Sean Payton is always a tricky guy, so we'll see.
And Noah Spence, the former Ohio State kid and Eastern Kentucky defensive end, was a great was great in college, um assigned him as an additional pass rusher.
So I'm excited to see that get him in a Saints game in the uniform and all that good stuff and then defensive tackle T Y McGill Solid defense of tackle to help us out there, um, in some other news.
Toronto arms that was selected as thesis.
Ain't CE nominee for the Walter Payton Man of the Year award as a prestigious award given out every year for an NFL player.
Each team gets one nominee of the Saint selected Theron Armstead.
This year, Drew Brees has won it in the past.
You know, Thomas more studs been a nominee before.
All sorts of guys have been, but, um, it's a prestigious award given out to a an NFL player who, um displays great community service.
And you know, all that good stuff.
And Toronto said, has done just that big hole out in the community this year.
I've seen it all over his instagram this in that.
So I hope he gets what he deserves.
It, um, so make sure we're pulling for our guy.
Um, also, the Saints terminated the contract of practice squad offensive lineman Nate Wozniak.
I know he was kind of a fan favorite when we got him a couple of years ago.
Hey, hasn't really lived up to much, you know.
He's only been active for a couple of games last year, but yeah, I mean, he's just kind of been a practice.
What guy? And we signed that new tight end Durell items to the practice squad, so we needed to make us make space for um, and some news came out earlier this week.
Actually, yesterday at ah, a butcher.
Sean Payton's head coach, Sean Payton's butcher was asking him why he was going for that two point conversion early in the game.
Sean Payton clap back and was like, Why don't you mind? Don't you worry about your meat, so I was kind of a a nice little trending story.
So basically what he's saying is, don't ask him about why he made decisions.
Every coach makes tough decisions.
Time to time, you know.
Don't be. Come in, Adam.
There's no point in that.
You know what I mean? Listen, how many gambles is champagne taking where he goes out there at the end of the game? Everyone's talking about how great of a play caller he is or how risky is and how it works out.
Sometimes it doesn't work out.
I'm not gonna stop losing faith in him. No.
All right, now, I was going to a little bit of death on the two new main guys at the same time.
We're gonna start off with defense of tackle T.
Why? McGill 61 perimeter, £10 from Jessup, Georgia.
You went to N. C State.
Um, he spent time over five seasons with the Seattle Seahawks.
The Indianapolis quotes the Cleveland Browns, the Kansas City Chiefs, the L A Chargers, the Philadelphia Eagles, the Washington Redskins and now with us, the New Orleans Saints.
Over his career on and off of practice squad, she has 25 tackles, five sacks, one forced fumbles are one forced fumble and two passes.
Defended as a defensive tackle who's been mostly on a practice squad, that's actually pretty solid.
You know what I mean? He'll be a good backup for us, but at 61 £310 I'll take my chances with him.
You know, 3 10 He's just going to kind of just stuff up the hole for Israel.
Quick, make sure he's not allowing any any rushing yards.
Listen that, Um And then the most hide up signing the Saints made this week was defensive and Noah Spence, 6 to £251 from Philadelphia. Pennsylvania.
Um, he went to Ohio State in eastern Kentucky in college.
It was a second round pick in 2016 by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
He also been a little bit of time last year with the Washington Redskins over his career.
Thus far, he has 37 tackles, seven and 1/2 sacks, four forced fumbles in two passes, defended.
But he's a solid defensive end.
No, he hasn't quite lived up to his second round expectations.
So then again, he was playing on crafty teams or teams where they already had good starters at the position and getting quite get as much playing time as he needed.
But with us being down some guys, I could see him getting more playing time.
Other guys I could see getting more playing time or Mario Edwards Jr.
I could see him getting some time except Carl Granderson getting a little bit more time shine.
Tuttle Expect him to get more reps.
A defensive tackle.
David on Yamato would be fine.
Malcolm Brown's gonna anger down like he's been doing all year.
I'm not too worried about the fact that we don't have Rankin's in Davenport.
Rankin's is kind of, you know, been a non factor this year.
Anyways, you know he's kind of been hurt and we've been subbing in guys at the D Tackle spot anyways, so I mean, the fact that he's out for the rest of the season.
I mean, now, when doesn't hurt as bad as market stabbing, poor does.
Marcus Davenport was in the running totally.
The NFL and quarterback hurries on the year, so that's gonna be a tough loss.
But we do have defense of entry.
Hendricks sent out there.
We do have Mario Edwards, Jr.
We got Carl Granderson of the promising rookie.
We got guys we could put out there.
I'm not too concerned about it, You know what I mean? And then obviously, hiding a guy like Noah Spence is gonna bring her and athleticism factor.
Um, but yeah, not too concerned about it. I am really concerned.
If we lose Von Bell, that's gonna be probably the biggest blow to our defense that we've seen all year.
Like losing Lattimore sucked.
But losing a guy like Bonne Bell who complained literally anywhere for us is gonna hurt.
So hopefully he's good to go.
Um, and now I'd like to, ah, talked a little bit about Von Johnson.
Saints great linebacker, passed away early this morning, is 57 years old, a four time Pro Bowler.
He'd been battling kidney disease for years and just recently had a liver disease.
Um, which I'm assuming is probably the cause of his death.
Based on the reports I've seen, um, he's been eight years on the Saints, and he spent one with the Philadelphia Eagles.
He was part of the Dome Patrol linebacking corps that included Ricky Jackson Sam Mills, Um, von Johnson, all those great great players.
Um, he was always known as like a punishing hitter.
Uh, stroke struck fear into the ER into every offense.
Um, you know, I was known as a hard hitting linebacker.
You didn't want to run his way.
He was always overshadowed by Ricky Jackson and Sam Mills, but he always did this thing.
His peers always noticed how great he was.
Hence the reason he went to four consecutive Pro Bowls.
Um, his career stats.
669 tackles, 12 sacks in 11 forced fumbles.
Um, always a really great player, just a really great guy.
Everyone loved him.
Eso obviously a sad to see him go the age of just 57.
Here's what the same said today about it.
The thoughts and prayers of the organization are with Von Johnson's family after his passing.
Not only was a Bonny force on the field in the middle of the Don't patrol defense, but he was a gentle giant off of it.
An underrated defender in the middle of a dominant defense, he quickly became a fan favorite and the respect in the respect that he garnered league wide among his peers is evidenced by his four consecutive Pro Bowl selections.
Now he began his career with the USFL's Jacksonville Bulls in 1984 85 before spending eight seasons with the Saints and then one with the Eagles.
He was punching header six foot three.
You know, he was a great player, a great guy.
And, ah, you know, everyone loved him so sad to see him go.
My condolences go out to on Johnson and his family during this difficult time.
Um, I thought that being said, um, you know, saying to do have a very, very difficult game coming up this week, Um, against the Indianapolis Colts on Monday night Folk.
The most part, the only guy I really saw in their injury report was T.
But he would only limited him limited participant in practice, So I think he'll be fine.
Cole's biggest issue this year has been kicking problems.
Um, so a minute culture, A very good team.
They're pretty wishy washy, but they always seem to play really well against really good teams, so that gives me a little bit of concern.
So we'll see. We'll see how it goes.
You know, they have a great or Stephen duo and t y Hilton. Exact Paschal.
So, um, I wouldn't be surprised if they end up going off.
Want Johnson for the tip? Um, so, you know, we're gonna have to fallout, do our thing.
You know, I'm gonna hit you guys with a pregame report and all of that for a final injury report.
Everything like that on Monday before the game.
Um, so you don't have to worry too much about it.
Um, but yeah, obviously, the Saints were being struck with a lot of injuries.
Right now, that's not a good thing.
You never like to see that.
Especially when you're so close to the playoffs.
And, uh, especially when you have a team is talented.
Is this you don't want to see some of your better players getting injured.
Especially guys better.
Like, you know, really good.
Like Marcus Davenport.
You know, um, and some other NFL news today, The corner on the Giants generous.
Jenkins just got released.
Um, So what's up? Saints go after? If, uh, I'm just kidding, though, but that would be kind of, you know, just a extra corner, especially with P.
Robbie and injured pretty much all year and P.
Williams being inconsistent for the most part.
Um, you know, I doubt just because of the fact that we tend to stay away from controversy, that signing a guy like generous Jenkins, who called someone the R word on Twitter and had a whole Twitter toe tirade with a fan not likely to get signed by the Saints.
So that's a little bit unfortunate.
It be nice to have a guy like generous Jenkins, but it's just not gonna happen.
But I do like the team we have now.
Um, I do really enjoy the signing of Noah Spence.
I think he's gonna be a great player for us.
Um, but yeah, you know, I got said a couple minutes ago.
I'm gonna hit you guys with a pregame show on Monday before the Saints game.
Um, probably the afternoon before when I have a pretty good idea of what the final injury reports gonna be in all that Good stuff.
Um, thank you guys. So much for all your love.
All your support.
Um, thank you for always tuning in every single week twice a week.
I typically go on for about 15 minutes.
Um, so I appreciate it so much, guys, I really d'oh! Um, but yeah, just stay tuned.
Go Saints, baby, we got to keep crying, and we're getting close to these playoffs, so hopefully we could stay a little bit healthy and ah, you make a run at this thing real quick.
Um, but yeah, once again, rest in peace.
Yvonne Johnson, about to write up an article, but try to get it published on Twitter real quick.
So I love you guys. Thank you so much.
