looks like we're alive.
Probably wait a little bit to get this going.
It's currently 10:04 p.
m. on the east Coast.
Got an X T on the TV right now because dynamite just went off the air.
A w dynamite were some notes because ah is my first riel.
Ah, other than my introductory video a few months ago.
Now, that was an August, uh, dealing with a lot of personal.
Uh, is it family stuff? So, uh, having meaning to do this for quite a while now? I don't know if I'm gonna really do it every Wednesday.
Ah, really? My goal is to do it maybe every Thursday and then add in a day, uh, during the week or maybe a weekend, Another video, maybe all wrestling, maybe sports.
Philly sports, Mainly, uh, big Philly sports fan followers know that.
Know me from from that from Philly influencer and from Twitter.
Ah, if you want to follow me on Twitter, Goto at **** become and I c k p i c c o n a and you will find a lot of my good tweets era, Have a lot of good tweets.
Very proud of myself get.
Try to be funny as much as I can on there, so I appreciate it.
Ah, whenever you get a chance.
If you're not the Twitter tell you, I totally understand that it's it's tough to Everly Peru's Twitter all day, especially with the society, were incident.
Uh, you miss like an hour worth of tweets.
And you kind of like you're behind the eight ball air light.
What? What the hell is going on? So, uh, especially for May sports from this force website doing a wrestling podcasts, uh, straight shooters.
So if you haven't heard of that goto I apple podcasts Ah, search The straight shooters are really where wherever you listen to, your podcasts were available pretty much every platform.
Uh, Sydney and Vaughn Johnson currently works for the Eagles, but he was Philly dot com when it was before it was Enquirer dot com and he covered wrestling there and he did a great job.
So we do a weekly podcasts.
Ah, we've been doing it for four years over now.
Four and 1/2 years we have over 200 up suits, so go check it out.
Ah, pretty much every platform.
Like I said, I tend to you.
I like to use over CASS as my podcast player.
Uh, listen to all my podcasts on overcast, so Ah, speed up the time you could speed up the silences, You know, like it doesn't There's no drawing out silences.
Ah, if you kind of finagle the player where you can kind of speed it up a little bit.
So I listen to, like, all my podcasts almost double the speed when I'm driving.
So, uh, not mine, though.
Not, like listen to mind right away.
So, uh, you have any questions? Feel free to ask.
This is probably going to be probably be a quick one.
I don't really don't know how long these things they're gonna go.
Uh, I have some notes from dynamite tonight.
Ah, I'll get into that later on.
Right now, an X T is just ending 10 08 on the east coast, and it looks like Finn Balor won the triple threat match.
That was the main event of the next T.
Now, this is the first week that I haven't switched back and forth since the west and I wore started October 2nd I believe a W Dynamite went on the air of TNT going head to head with an ex C for or just over two months now.
I was always flipping back and forth, you know, watching one show on my iPad, the other on my TV.
Usually it be dynamite on my TV because that was the new flavor.
You know, I wanted to see that as much as possible.
The next t of it watching for years, uh, love has really changed with the direction of an X T and the products.
Um, but with the expansion to two hours, I've actually enjoyed an X t a lot more than I thought I would, and I think it's on December 11th 2019.
It's been the better show overall of all the weeks that it's going head to head with dynamite on C N. C.
But tonight I just focused on dynamite.
I didn't even change the channel during commercial breaks.
Really? If you've listened to the straight shooters podcasts, you've you know how I feel about a W to this point.
I think there they're really good.
It's not the fact that I don't want them to succeed.
It's like before they they started.
And before this weekly, Ah, television started, you know, just going off their paper views.
I was like I had so much hope for this did not feel like WW at all.
So it almost felt like old school W C W where it may be like 96 97 where I really got into it, and it kind of gave me that feel like this is gonna be big now.
A W is awesome, like it's great for wrestling.
It's great for mainstream TV especially, you know, go ahead, the animal W V.
And obviously that was stuffed up.
He's called Put an X T head to head with dynamite, but I didn't really expect Ah a W two when the ratings as much as they did.
But the ratings really never mattered to me.
I know they matter to a lot of people and that there is a discussion for ratings in 2019 TV ratings you factor in DVR within 48 hours.
A factor in this online streaming it ratings do matter.
And now I think the last week a W barely beat an X T after an exceed beat them two weeks in a row.
So now you got both sides back and forth.
Ah, a lot of dancer going on with, uh, the ratings and everything like that.
It doesn't really.
It doesn't make a difference to May I follow the next.
He was the better show overall as they've been going head to head.
But I did not watch the next T tonight.
So when we go in the dynamite and I kind of like I feel like I do kind of critique a W in a way that I would critique double B if I wasn't so used to the way he does things.
And Double B has not had a riel competitors in over a decade.
You know, you try and count CNN, maybe in 2010 when they tried to go head to head butt.
That was a complete failure, and I tried to forget about that, but they tried and it wasn't even close.
This, I think is is more of ah possibility to compete with W B in the long run.
So when they start like I, I approach it like a W is gonna be as different as possible.
And I actually said it on the Straight shooters podcast last week.
I feel like a W s'more like W B.
Then next is you know, the feel.
Obviously, the presentation looks very good, and Full Sail University is so different on a W actually tours, and that's good.
But some of the storylines of convoluted ah that the audio they've had audio problems the last few weeks.
Camera cuts or just as bad, if not worse, than Double B's camera cuts on Ron's Smackdown.
Mainly we're all it just doesn't feel like a W has grasp the opportunity to really feel so much different.
And I think an exceed does feel different than w have different different voices.
Moreover, Nalo Ah, you know different video back your understanding, the characters, your understanding, motivations and a W is kind of, you know, been late to the party on that.
You know, like I don't understand why women wrestlers air sitting out in the crowd watching these matches, and we're not we're not told why.
We're not saying like hey there, scouting this person.
We're not commentary, I would think would be better in a W.
But Jim Ross says, obviously slid a little bit, but still respect him as a You know what he did in years past of the night eighties nineties and to thousands.
But I just don't really think that they do enough to convey to the audience motivations of their stars.
Now you have guys that can come from us like Cody M. J. F.
Jericho, whose probably on one of the best roles of his career, if not the best, and you have all that, which is great.
But then you gotta fill it out and you gotta You don't want the undercard to feel so much more like W B than next Eve.
Feels like W under the W b better.
And I just think that's kind of where they're stuck out right now where they're still trying to find a way.
I mean, it's only been two months, and they're not gonna get it right away, and I think every up so really Jake Hager when he would he debuted.
It wasn't really even a cliffhanger ending because you kind of just had them standing tall use.
You saw Jack Haeger debut, and it wasn't like you saw him demolish everyone.
And it wasn't like cliffhanger in terms of whose side is he on? Because I already knew what side he's on.
It's been forever since we've had, like, a cliffhanger ending, and I was kind of hoping a W would bring that back a little bit.
But it's kind of ended every episode this same way that you kind of see an extend or raw or smack down in where there's really no excitement.
You know, they just happen to show.
So that's where I'm at right now with a W in terms of kind of there, there.
Overall presentation of Donnelly.
Ah, and we'll get into tonight show right now.
It was kind of weird for May to see John Moxley come out.
He still comes out in the crowd in a W.
And I don't know.
I think I understand His character is supposed to be like that looted that lunatic that he was in W b even kind of like build up even further in a W.
But come out from the crowd.
You just reminding people he's from the shield and stuff like that.
There's there's no reason to not have them come out from the main entrance and just say like he doesn't play well with others.
He has a so locker room or whatever.
Just haven't come out on the ramp.
I don't see like it's too similar, you know, and I I get that you don't necessarily like it today in 2019 you would think that Moxley wouldn't change so much about his persona that he had a double B.
I mean, coming out from the interest Ram.
Is that such a huge change? I don't think so.
Not not a huge thing, but it just kind of like the first thing we saw some dynamite tonight, and I was just kind of like, Can we get away from that a little bit? Just make Moxley.
You just make him seem like he's so in the shoulder or something like that.
Ah, squash match to open the open the show.
Many have Jericho come out.
I'm four squash matches on four jobber enhancement talent matches for for just debut ing talents that you're ready to push.
Kind of like how w did what broad Stroman when they re debuted him.
After that, Wyatt family fiasco and they re debuted him was like 2016 I think 2017 and he just started.
He was squashing people, and he kind of rebuild him back up.
That's where I like the enhancement talent match.
When when you're building people, Jim actually is already built.
You know he doesn't need that to second win at the beginning of the show.
And then you have Jericho come out and then they do a face to face.
Why not just have him come out, call out Jericho, and then they do that way.
And the endgame was Jericho offering Moxley a spot in the inner circle.
And, you know, we know we I think we have a pretty good idea how that story is gonna turn out.
Uh, what's this? Fine.
Like pro wrestling, I've often settled in the straight shooters podcast.
Pro wrestling sometimes is at its best when it's it's most predictable.
So it's just the buildup in the anticipation, especially if the live crowd makes it.
And I've said before the live crowd really kind of affects how I look at something.
Whether I like it or I don't like it.
I might not like something, but the crowd's reaction clearly shows that I will be wrong about that, and I might still not like it, But the crab reaction makes it not that great.
So I think the fact that Moxley had, like, it's not a killer, that the squash match was for Moxley.
But it's just not my, you know, You gotta have someone come in, say, a W Goes out signs.
Luke Harper Luke Harper was released by W B a day or two ago.
Maybe they go out and sign somebody like that, and then you give him the enhancement talent matches and you kind of build him him up under the A w better a little bit.
That makes more sense to me than having John Mouth Moxley do it.
Ah, but you know, it is what it is.
What? I wasn't doing anything in w B.
It's not like John Moxley would be Dean Ambrose stuff.
It'll be champion right now.
Ah, so, like, it's not something that I I think it's like a huge criticism, but I just would rather see them use those types of matches to build somebody that's not already built.
I don't know if there was that many audio issues this week.
But, man, that was like, ridiculous.
How many times the audio cut in and out the last few weeks of really took my enjoyment out of watching it and actually maybe change the channel quite a bit.
Not the next Eve.
And I know like I'm a big Philly sports fans.
So I'm watching the Flyers six years.
Ah, you know, stuff like that.
But, man, it really like the audio issues and that, as I say that I turn.
I'm turning on the Flyers game right now.
Is there in Colorado playing the Avalanche and they're already losing.
So that's great.
That's just great.
Ah, ups to the Flyers, By the way, they're really performing the way I thought they would play this season.
Ah, pretty good right now, So I hope they keep it up.
Ah, now back to my point about the audio not so many issues about At least I didn't hear, you know, like I obviously do things during the show.
I don't I can't.
I'm a busy guy, so I can't just sit in front of the TV for two hours and not do anything and just watch.
So even though I tried to do that tonight still, you know, have my phone out.
So pruzan Twitter a little bit.
I may. I had some tweets during the show.
If you want to go to my Twitter, it's at Nick.
Falcone said it earlier at an I c k p i C c O L. A.
Could be a follow if you want.
I have a lot of funny videos up there.
I'll keep touting that. Sure.
Ah, so yeah, the audio.
Not not a huge Stamper tonight, as it has been a previous weeks.
You have Sohag Nam page.
Guess he's gonna turn hell at some point.
I really enjoy these such stories in pro wrestling.
I really enjoy the slow tease of either he'll turn or face.
Er I think one of the best face turns that I've ever seen as arresting Van was when Batista turned on evolution in 2005 and turned on Triple H and Ric Flair that went on to WrestleMania to win the title.
That was probably one of the best slow burns I've seen in recent history.
Uh, seems like they don't do a lot of that anymore.
They don't really string that.
That out is as much.
Uh, obviously that was was 2019.
It's gonna be 2020 15 years ago where when Batista did that So social media wasn't prevalent.
They didn't need thio make content for their social media channels.
So you literally lived even if he watched raw and Smackdown weeks a week.
The brand split was still in place in 2005 so there wasn't very much going show the show and that was that made it one of the best stories.
You didn't have these things.
That didn't make sense, really.
And it all started at New Year's Revolution in the elimination chamber, when.
But he's, uh I think was Randy Orton who pinned him in the elimination chamber and you saw a triple H of the background get up and then he just kind of sat back down.
He could have saved Batista, but he didn't, and that's when you kind of knew something was gonna happen with that story.
And that's the type of long term storytelling we don't see any more.
And that's what I want to see.
A W succeeded because I think by now we're used to double B just not doing that long term storytelling.
And when they do, it's just kind of done like it is.
Once the story's done, it kind of doesn't mean anything anymore.
They don't build off that.
I think maybe Kofi Kingston's climb this this past year to the double title was one of their best story lines in recent memory.
But other than that, I can't really tell you.
Maybe the shields and this the shields a set, the break up and then the feuding within each other.
That was kind of cool, but it they didn't really play.
It is as important as it could have been.
That could have been like a triple threat main about WrestleMania.
And that's what I was kind of expecting happen, and it never happened.
So that's the type of story telling.
I'm kind of fan off with what a W's doing, which seems like Hagman, Paige is gonna become a He'll see him blind Tagen, Kenny Omega tonight and the tag match.
And can you just be like okay, whatever.
They have another tag match next week, which, by the way, December 18 is gonna be one of their biggest show, if not the biggest dynamite show right now, because 25th is the week after that.
And I don't know if they're gonna run a show or a tape show that night or what they're gonna D'oh! Well, it's on TNT.
I'm assuming CNC will have ah n b a game going on Christmas Day.
So I don't I mean, I haven't looked up.
What the plan is could be so far behind, and maybe they already announced it.
But, um, it's December 18 is gonna be huge not only for a w, but also NST.
So next week, I'm really looking forward to that.
Will we see Hagman pages? He'll turn occur next week.
Maybe we'll see another one of those blinds act situations.
Or maybe a miscommunication between him and Kenny Omega, where now maybe it looks like Hang man Paige And can you make are not getting along because it doesn't really look like that right now, But obviously the slow burn still one of my favorite types of things to do in wrestling because you don't need to do everything week to week.
You don't need to do everything in one night and I think of 2019.
That's really lost a lost art and wrestling because we're so used to everything kind of happening so quickly.
Um, we have a new pay per view coming on February 29th A. W.
Announced tonight that revolution would take place.
Just revolution, not New Year's revolution.
But, ah, I think it's pretty cool.
Pay per view names a lot better than full year.
Uh, February 29th is when that will take place and they're going back to Chicago.
I'm not sure why.
I mean, I know why Chicago is a great wrestling town, but they've already had to pay per views there if you want to count all in.
Ah, in 2018 and then he just had all out in August, and I drove back Scotto in February.
So you have three pay per views and about the span of a year and 1/2 in Chicago.
So, hey, Chicago's a great crowd.
The one thing that I have every single week on dynamite is the crowd.
Reaction is great for everything, and that really kind of gets me into it more than it would in W.
B. If the same thing was happening.
W crowds are dead silent on so many things, and that really kills a lot for me.
You seem like a great promo or like a great segment.
And if the crowd is not into it, I don't feel it as I watched it kind of makes people like Okay, why am I watching? That's why am I wasting my time if no one cares about it? And maybe that's the flaw in my part, Maybe I rely on the crowd reaction too much.
Ah, because when I'm at the double B, show the crowds loud a lot.
It's not that everyone just sits on their hands.
It doesn't say anything, but that's in Philly, you know, like I've never been to a W B show outside of Philly.
And maybe that's just the Philly crowd.
And maybe that's what I'm just so used to.
So when they're in a city like Poughkeepsie tenant that Kentucky or Poughkeepsie, New York, where there's not a gypsy Kentucky forget I said that when they're in like a small town like that or Chattanooga, Tennessee, it just doesn't come across is as a rabid crowd as it would New York, Philly Chicago.
Ah, so maybe that's a flaw in my part for looking too much for a reaction of what I'm watching from the crowd there rather than what I like myself.
And so that's something that I am self aware of.
And I probably should stop really expecting the crowd to react to every single thing that I like or dislike.
The next Pay per view.
February 29th Saturday I love this Saturday paper views.
By the way, this Saturday paper views are awesome.
I will probably order the N W A pay per view into the fire this Saturday, uh, December 14th really a fan of the way I N. W.
A's format has been for their YouTube show power of kind of springs back memories and not memories of me growing up watching that when w.
Before W B network there was W 24 7 on demand, and I subscribe to that on Comcast's, and I would watch some of the old and LBJ shows, and I really kind of dug it a little bit that format and everything, so that that brought back memories of that that was only like 10 years ago.
So when I watch it now, I'm just like, Oh, man, that brings back great memories.
But it's from a show from the eighties that I watched in 8 4009 that I now love again in the new formats of a YouTube show in 2019.
So I'm looking forward to that.
I'm you know, the wrestling's good.
Uh uh, really just the feeling and the camera work the interview stand the just one side of the crowd on the opposite side of the hard camera.
Like that stuff. I just dig.
So look forward to that.
So yeah, Saturday paper views.
I really dig it.
Revolution if a W in Chicago February 29th Saturday.
I look forward to that.
Now it's close to WrestleMania, but I don't know if this if a w is really gonna, but this is there, like, wrestle mania because you still like I love them Change away from WrestleMania.
But will they try toe, do some things leading up to that pay per view, do some things at the paper view, and then on TV that month to try and just get those viewers that I mean that their audience really hasn't grown in the ratings.
They've won the demographics.
That was big, big, uh, subject on Twitter.
The demos 18 to 49 males and a W S one like every single week or whatever.
And they're killing an X Ian the demo.
Interesting to see if they can pull like that.
Demo really has a change, but an ex sees viewership has grown a little bit.
And I mean, both shows have fluctuated through the weeks, but a w peeks, you know, in their debut episode, they were over one million and they haven't hit that mark again since.
So they got to start, you know, 2020 with a goal to build their audience as much as possible.
It just hasn't happened for them to this point as of this recording, but I'm not saying they're, you know, it's not gonna happen, but two months in, you would probably if I was in a W employee, I would probably want to see some growth at that point.
Ah, I really don't know if the pay per view being in Chicago is a bad thing.
It's always gonna be a great crowd, But three in a short amount of time.
What's going on with the other cities? Uh, why can't they run? And Dallas? They were just in Dallas to value, and they announced the pay per view.
Why not announce that they are February paper? He's gonna be in Dallas.
W goes to the same cities every three or four months.
So, like in a w I don't know.
Ah, not that it's not like a huge deal, but it's something that if you're touting your the alternative and you're you want to be as different as possible to doubIe, then go do different things go to a pay per view in Utah.
I don't know when the last time if there was ever a pay per view and you tall, I don't even know if they have an arena.
And you told that they can run a pay per view from, But I'm sure there's something out there just something different.
And yeah, maybe not very many people will go to a pay per view in Utah.
Maybe there's not that many wrestling fans and Utah.
I don't know. I've never been there.
Andi, I mean? I mean, if I'm in the Philly area.
So it's like there's so much wrestling here that I don't even know if there's, like, an independent scene in Utah or in the West toast area as much of their is here.
Ah, so yeah, that was I mean, you know, we had a great main event tonight.
Uh, the young bucks and Santana are Ortiz.
We're, uh I think it was Matt Jackson were Dallas Cowboys helmet.
So that definitely turned it off for May.
Not a fan of that should give the show enough for that.
Luckily for you, I don't do grades.
I don't do match ratings.
I don't do stuff like that.
It's all subjective.
I said this multiple times on the straight shooters podcast.
I really think I honestly I subscribe to the W B Network for the old stuff.
Obviously, I watched the new shows and everything.
I, with the exception of the Saudi Arabia, shows I don't watch them but the pay per views monthly.
I watch some of the cool do***entaries.
They have some the backstage stuff I watch and X t.
Obviously I try to watch the next tuk as much as I can to get caught up.
Two of five live, not as much anymore.
But you know, it's it's stuff that I do watch, but I love watching.
Old Nitro is old WCW pay per views.
Old stuff that I watched during the Monday night work that kind of kindled my rekindled my love for pro wrestling because I've been watching it since I was five and I was hooked.
And it's almost 30 years later, and I've taken too sabbaticals from watching wrestling.
The 1st 1 was about, say, 4 to 5 months on.
I came back just in time for WrestleMania 19.
That was my first show back after, like a 4 to 5 months sabbatical.
And then I washed it for two and 1/2 years.
And then I took another sabbatical for about not not as much, not as long.
Maybe two or three months where I just wasn't watching it, not really putting myself and, uh, that wrestling fan mindset that I had for so long, and I missed some really good stuff.
I miss Matt already coming back and feuding with EJ toward that hole, and I remember the Internet was ablaze with, Ah, you know, Matt Hardy, elite.
Did EJ rumors and all that not kept up with that.
But I still go out of my way to watch the TV, you know, raw or smack down or anything like that.
So I miss Matt Hardy coming back, and I was like them, Um so, yeah, it's I don't want to do that again.
There's so much good wrestling out there and you get burned out watching a lot of it.
You really do. It's I said it before.
It's too much that that sometimes.
W announced their show on Wednesday nights and then you had an XY saying they were gonna go to two hours, then they were gonna go head to head as a wrestling fan.
You just kind of go, Hey, Maur content. That's great.
But at the same time, you're like I've run a podcast.
I do, ah, run a website and Philly sports, you know, like that's my thing right now.
And this is just another like two plus hours that I have to dedicates are watching a wrestling show.
So I know what I'm talking about.
When I talk and do stuff like this.
I want to know what I'm talking about.
I don't want to just write a note and just say this was stupid And here's why.
I want to know why they did what they did.
What? The backstory is kind of like what we're hearing behind the scenes, which might not always be accurate, but it's good to have in context.
It's good to have an idea of what might be going on behind the scenes as to why something happened on TV and swine.
I am so we don't like it or we do like it.
Why it might change and why it's happening or something like that.
So that's what I will try to bring to this.
Uh, I will try to do it every, maybe not every Wednesday, but maybe every Thursday.
Uh, I do record the podcasts.
Me and Joan Johnson D'oh! Right now on Thursdays.
Ah, I will be moving shortly, so I don't know if that will change the schedule, but, um, that's you know, you'll understand why I 12 01 I am.
I'm going to post something on Twitter Had Nick Picone.
Ah, it's funny, It's It's you could see it's it's, ah, products that I opened, but I didn't remove anything from it because ah, and it makes it look weird.
It is very like cryptic, but it's it's it is what it is.
Uh, I will post some pictures of it after 12 o'clock and we'll see.
You'll see what I'm talking about and I'm in the process of moving.
So I didn't I didn't completely open and completely take everything off because I need to pack it again and I can't take like these things out of what they are because I don't wanna break him.
So but I'm gonna put us out of 12:01 a.m.
It's pretty cool for wrestling fans gonna be awesome because it's something that was offered that I got a sample of it and I have it in my possession, and I just think it's really cool.
It's something that I never really thought of before as a wrestling fan that I would wanna have.
I kind of was out on the merchandising of wrestling stuff when I grew up a little bit.
When I was in my twenties, I didn't really want the teachers anymore and it went. Action figures.
I don't want anything like that.
I was working, so I'm trying to save my money Is a college student.
Uh and I never got back to that.
I never like I'm not gonna spend ah lot of money except on tickets to a show.
That's extra money that I probably just can't afford, even its he shirt.
Unless it's like a really cool T shirt.
Um, So, yeah, I will post that on my twitter at Nick Picone right after 12 a.m.
So be on the lookout for that, uh, as faras a like the's dynamite shows and even the next t my thoughts on him.
And I'm not gonna go in depth unless some happens where I have, like, a really strong feeling about whether it was good or bad or something like that for dynamite, for the way it's been since October 2nd, it could be worse.
You could be a lot worse.
Um, but they gotta improve on some of these things that they just of the presentation, the camera cuts, you know, the audio, that stuff that after two months, should have been rectified, and we didn't really see much of that the first couple weeks.
You know, I guess you get in that you get in that mode of weekly.
You know, the first few weeks here, it's kind of new.
And now you're kind of set in a routine and these things start happening.
That can happen.
It can't happen if you wantto really feel as mainstream as w b feels.
And we don't really see a lot of, you know, errors like that.
No, in Dublin programming.
Now, as for the products for the story lies, that's completely different.
So, uh, definitely looking forwards who, especially next week, definitely looking forward to doing more of these Probably Ah, probably go on Thursdays before I record my podcasts.
Uh, that would probably be the best plan, a CZ we used to record on Wednesdays.
And then obviously the Wednesday night were started, so we had it switch things up.
And obviously we can't watch both shows the same time.
So doing it Wednesday night just wasn't in the cards and plus my Internet got really Laghi on Wednesdays, and we had it like Rick or re record things, and it was not a good thing, So that's what I'm thinking.
Maybe Thursday's would be the best opportunity to do these and then maybe add in another day or two.
Maybe a breaking news one, maybe, maybe even double releases, more talent.
Maybe I'll do one scene where the best spot for them would be.
Um, so stay tuned for that.
There will be more of these.
