I, uh, Kansas City Chiefs and New England Patriots preview.
I know it was on earlier, but I decided that this is a really big game, and I thought that actually be covering this one as well.
So after a great slate of one o'clock games, especially that San Francisco in New Orleans gained, that was a thriller till the end.
Now we're looking forward to this big match up at 4 30 Eastern time.
So to start off, the Pats have actually want 18 consecutive home games, which is the second longest streak, and they're, uh, team history.
But that doesn't necessarily mean that they're gonna pull this one out the past, actually, in my mind, one and two against the stronger teams in the NFL that they played.
So they beat the Bills, and then they lost against the Ravens and the Texans.
The defense is outstanding.
It's a second rate defense, but Brady's kind of had an off year.
He's had a passer rating below 100 for seven straight games, which is the longest streak of his career, although it's kind of weird that he has this low passer rating because before this week, the Patriots have had the second most points scored in the season so far, so that's kind of odd.
But you gotta think so.
It's the past second ring defense against the Chiefs fourth ranked offense.
That's probably going to be more of the actual game.
So the chief's defense is actually starting to come into its own.
They've made big plays and they help people when they needed to, on third and fourth down, recently made interceptions or got interceptions, created plays when they needed Thio.
And like I said, the Patriots offense has had a little bit of struggling.
Neither team has really got their brush like the run offense where it needs to be.
But that might be like a key to the game today is to get that going.
So if we're talking about the last few meetings between these two, it's kind of been all Patriots.
But not by a blowout.
Not because the Chiefs just can't get it done.
It's because both of these teams are good and they're just putting up thriller games.
So their last meeting was in the M C championship last year, the Pats 37 Chiefs 31 in overtime.
So the chief's defense couldn't get it done.
And there was this big scenario, big situation where everyone chiefs, fans most were like It's not fair.
The president of Homes didn't get a chance to get the ball because then he probably would have gone down and scored a touchdown.
And then there would have been, like another overtime.
Come up with a college situation here where you're thinking, Well, both teams should get a chance at the ball.
But this is the NFL.
It's harder, it's stronger and your defense can't get it done and you end up winning the game.
What makes you think that your defense is gonna get it done in the Super Bowl? So, honestly, I'm not a huge fan that the Pats made.
It's a Super Bowl again, but they were the team that pulled it out, and they were the ones that deserve to go there.
The chief's defense couldn't get it done.
And, yes, it's not fair that Patrick Mahomes didn't get a chance that didn't get his chance on the field.
But that's just how it goes.
And then the regular season meeting in 2018 past also won 43 Chiefs 40.
So again, the chief's defense.
They didn't. They really couldn't get it done.
They were letting points get scored on them.
Patrick Mahoney was doing good, but it was the last second field goal for the Patriots kicker Gostkowski that settled in the wind for them.
That made that official the Chiefsdefense, actually, like I said, has been coming into their own.
But it hasn't really stepped it up to the plate where if they're gonna be playing the Patriots, I shouldn't say it like that.
Like the Chief's defense is go there.
Not bad, but they're not this phenomenal team.
And Tom Mary has been having an off year.
But that doesn't mean that he can't cut for this defense.
Find the holes, read them, pick up the blitz, do all this stuff, you know, so ever gonna look at the keys to the game? We need a look at the Patriots, so they need to.
The defense needs to contain Tyree.
Kill on contain Kelsey.
You know, time goes fast, agile, like he could outrun anybody.
Everyone seen him catch up to his friends, uh, catch up to his friends.
Uh, touchdown a few weeks ago in the season.
Obviously, that's why they call him the Cheetah.
Unique Do contain him.
He's great route Runner, saying with counsel.
He's big, He's strong, He's versatile.
You need to get him, keep him, Keep both of them contain.
If you take them out of the passing game, then it's very hard for password homes to find other receivers.
And then you've got to keep the homes in the pocket.
Okay, like he's a scrambler.
He's good on the run.
He makes those, you know, No look passes.
He does all that stuff on his back foot on no feet.
When he's in the air.
That's just how he has is a quarterback.
But if you keep him in the pocket, then he's gonna feel pressured.
He's gonna feel contained.
He's gonna be forced to make those throws faster than he wants because he's known to hold onto the ball and then that can force him to throw interceptions.
He's not the type of guy that has, you know, record like Aaron Rodgers does, where he doesn't throw interceptions, No matter if he's under pressure, he throws interceptions.
His accuracy is great, but when he's under pressure.
That's when he has those troubles.
So, like I said, the defense has started to come together a little bit there, allowing, But it's the ground defense that has to struggle.
So if the Patriots could get their run offense going, then the Chiefs might be in trouble just because the ground defence for the Chiefs is allowing over 141 yards per game, which is not good.
So they really need to focus on that on, UH, get down and make sure that the run game doesn't get going.
So then, if you're looking at keys for the chief, so the chief's depends kind of got exposed just a little bit against the Texans last week.
So the chief's idea keep exposing them kind of show where their weaknesses are.
Pat from the homes needs to be able to pick up the blitz and get rid of the ball fax.
It can't just hold onto it constantly, like he has been recently, because they have.
You know, my belief is the top corner in the NFL right now on their team.
They have, you know, then or they have Gilmore.
They have all these people that airplane makers for the Patriots, and they need that kind of see where their weak spots are and play on those he needs to get rid of the throwaways so like, not get rid of them.
But be willing to throw away the ball a little bit more and not take the sack.
Because if you can't do that, then you're gonna lose these yards.
You're gonna be forcing these third and long situations, and the Patriots defense is great at containing them and not letting down there down.
So before the Texans game before that, they only allowed, like, four touchdown passes, which is crazy.
And Patrick Mahomes is like the touchdown king.
You know, he had, like, what, 50 last season? I mean, he's missed a few games, but he still throws multiple touchdowns every single game.
So you gotta you gotta make sure that you get away from you been, scramble what you know and you gotta contain gentleman.
So he's the best wide receiver that the Patriots have right now.
They're wide receiver.
Corps is not very good there, you know, struggling thio get open.
They're struggling to catch passes, not necessarily where they have like tips, and it causes Brady to throw interceptions.
But it's more of they just can't get open and the person that can get open its settlement.
That's Brady's go to receiver.
So if you keep him shut down, if you make sure that he can't get open, then the Patriots offense is gonna have to rely on the run game, which has not been very good recently.
Like I said, both teams have not been very good on the run game, so as long as they can keep that is on so they can keep Edelman contained and the Chiefs will work on the run defense and keep that also contained.
Then I think the Chiefs can pull out this wing.
But like I said, the Patriots have 18 consecutive home game wins, and that's phenomenal to me.
Who says that the Fox Burrow was one of the hardest places to play, especially in the winter.
I don't know what the weather is not technically like right now, but Brady in that team arrives in that weather.
That's just how it is.
That's just how it goes.
So I still have to go with the paths like I said, I know that they're wanted to against the stronger teams that they played, so But I think that this is a whole different type of team.
I think Patrick Holmes hasn't necessarily been this crazy self that he was last season, especially because of his injury.
So I think the defense is gonna be able to keep him in the pocket, keep it contained.
I think they're gonna be able to contain Tie Rico.
I mean, he's still probably gonna have a touchdown.
He's gonna have a truck play stuff like that.
But they're gonna be able to get it to the point where he's not scoring these touchdowns.
And they're not getting their not staying on the field after third and 13 and making all these crazy catches and stuff like that that they normally that the chief's normally do.
I have to go with the paths on this one.
I think it's gonna be more of a blowout.
No, I mean, not a block like a shootout just because the offense for the Chiefs is strong.
So But I think the Patriots play to the level that of the team that they're playing so like I said.
They haven't played these crazy teams right now recently.
So I think that if the offense is playing good and the Patriots defense can't necessarily get huge stops, that Brady's gonna feel under pressure.
He's good under pressure.
He's good with those two minute draws.
He's good with all that stuff and he's gonna score points.
Whether it's getting it down the field in two minutes and scoring a touchdown, are getting it down the field for their kicker to kick the field goal to win the game.
It's just gonna happen. Brady knows how to do that.
He knows how to put it together.
I think he's probably tired of people saying that this is his down here, that he's off, that this isn't his team.
It's the defense that's carrying the team.
I think he must have show people and the rest of his team and his fans that he is that he can do what he's done in the past.
So I have to go with the Pats on this one, especially since their home like it, said Fox Burrow is ah, hard place to play, so I think it's gonna be a little bit more of a high scoring game. So I gotta go.
Patriots 32 Chiefs 28.
So thank you for joining me for this broadcast.
I hope you see you guys soon.
