right straight this time.
The right spring this time.
Okay, welcome to the sports talk.
We can we might show for two.
Um, Okay, welcome.
Todo Thursday, December, Phil, we're gonna be going over this week's off, break down once again, break down some football previews selfish and versus Montana.
Um, this Saturday, 2 p.m.
We think it's gonna be on ESPN, so it's most likely be on ESPN or ESPN neck words.
Um, this is the first time that Southeastern, in its 16 years of history, it's making the second round of the playoffs.
That's one thing about it.
So this is the first.
This is selfish is gonna be making a lot of history Here.
Look, this team came back it, um 2000 and three.
Now, this team never went to the playoffs.
This he never went to the playoffs.
What? This is gonna be the first song time they're gonna be taking on F.
C s opponent in Montana.
So that way we'll have to break down.
We'll have the press conferences.
Will have coach Frank cellphone.
We also have the by 10.
A coach will talk about this week's game, so let's begin with our weekly press conferences.
We will have Frank's cell phone first and also will have the Montana head coach talking about salvation in Montana.
So it began on these.
This is from Frank's cell phones press conference on Monday and also Montana's press conference also on Monday as well.
So let's go ahead and begin that press conferences.
Yeah, thank you all for being here.
Feels good to be out here.
Another, another day, another week.
And, uh, we'll talk a little bit about Villanova.
I think the again the resiliency of our football team showed, you know, I just don't want this thing then because I don't want this team to stop playing.
I want to continue to play and continue doing what you're doing, because there's just so much fun.
They worked their butts off practice and it shows up on game day and and you know what, What they're able to do out there on the field we can't week out with and we're mixing and matching so many parts.
You got young guys guys playing in different positions and moving around and it seems like there's somebody playing well each week, so you just don't want it to end.
It's a It's a fun time right now, to say the least, but I won't appreciate the crowd.
I thought I crowd really got into it.
It was his biggest, the Nichols game, but it was every bit as loud.
You could definitely hear down there on the field on the sidelines.
That really made a difference in thanks for everybody being there for that way played.
You know, we played well against Villanova, but we made some mistakes.
You know, we had three turnovers.
That's, you know, one and one time cost to touch down on.
You know, that's a huge mistake there at a black pot.
But at the end, you know, we fought all the way back through.
We were down and we talked about a little bit.
You know, the the even though we didn't win the back needs game.
We're able to draw on that experience at halftime and talk about that being down at half and then coming back and taking the lead twice, but didn't finish it against McNeese.
We finished it the other night strong, proud of our guys there.
I thought we competed all the way throughout the game and you know, like like we did all year long.
So from that standpoint, you know, I was happy with offensively.
We could have played much better besides turnovers.
I thought we did a great job way, I think, chasing maybe his best game.
I know the best half of football.
I've seen it play.
He was just locked in the second half and you look at CJ turning J.
Connor Branson Schwebel His first time, we had 3 100 yard receivers in the game, right? You know, they just locked in.
So they just such a great job, you know, moving the football.
And we got down and we scored a touchdown with settle for a field goal of one time with the rest of time we scored touchdowns.
We knew they were gonna be good offensively, and it was gonna be a struggle for us at times, really proud of guys on defense, like Dominic Lam having to start to play the whole first half, did a good job, made some mistakes, but you know what? That's gonna happen. But he played hard.
And then in the second ad, Dontrelle Smith played the entire second half a corner and had a couple of nice pass breakup, was in the right spots with communicating, had a great look on his face.
It was just fun to watch.
So we, uh, you know, we saw some guys grow up a little bit more and it's gonna help us again this week and you know, it's It's it is what it is.
It's the next man up mentality, and our guys are used to it now, so it's kind of it's fun to watch.
I was happy for our kicker.
Bryce Broussard wouldn't hit all the extra points and the field goal, and that hasn't happened in a while.
So I was happy to see him do that.
And, you know, just the operation.
Oh, that was good to snap the hole with Jake Roddenberry and Jacob Williams, and you know, it's all of that was good.
But I think for the most part, those you know for us to be able to go through in the environment in the playoffs, none of my players have ever been in the playoffs.
Heck, I'd been in the playoffs and for us to handle that situation I thought was really good this week.
Going to Montana against the Grizz up there.
They got a great environment.
It's gonna be loud.
It's gonna be a hostile environment.
They told us more in there.
So it's gonna be loud.
Will have to handle that situation.
That would be a different one will be able to pull from last year's L S U game, the nickel state game this year and last year.
The old Miss Game this year.
So we'll be able to draw some from some experiences that the guys have been through already.
They got a really good football team.
I think again their quarterback is a catalyst for them, a CE for moving the football.
They're big r p o team.
Some of the things that they do, their athletic upfront as far as what they can do.
They got two really good receivers, 16 and 18.
I think it's 18 but I know 16.
He's also that punt returner, these dynamic.
He's really good back there catching the ball, and when he gets it, he could go with defensively.
They got a whole American linebacker 33 34 there.
To backers, those guys just really good.
I think that's the strength of their team up front there, not front team, which is similar to what we had.
So we'll ask some carryover from Villanova.
They're odd front team Andi.
So there'll be some things that when that standpoint would be able to draw from, But they a lot of movement, more movement than what we saw this past week because they're they're athletic upfront.
Same thing in the second day.
It's a good football team.
They really and played in close games this year.
The games they wanted blown people out.
The games they lost, they lost by couple scores.
So I want to keep it close.
Let's see what happens towards into that game.
I know that that our guys feel comfortable in a close game cause that's we play a lot of and they want to keep it close up there for them for a while and let's see how they can react to that towards the end of a game.
But we'll be prepared, will be ready to go.
The weather, the conditions won't be an issue for us.
We were prepared and would know we've got to do and we'll get on like taking care of.
Our guys will be ready.
So with that, I'll take any questions you guys got.
Yeah, never won a few states.
I've never played it.
I hadn't played there.
And the two Dakotas? Rhode Island, Maine, New Hampshire.
They went through in the other day.
There's, like nine states.
Alaska was one of them.
Um but yes, that's one of the few had played in.
But I've never been to Montana.
I had a reason to go up there.
I never have been there by plane.
We go going playing way.
It's the same we did in Abilene earlier this year, right? So everything that we do, we try to, you know, you simulate everything to get to this point so you want to do during the regular season.
So when you get to the playoffs, it's not the first time you do it.
Well, even the practice here Friday morning will eat lunch.
Get on, the buses will head down to the airport, walk onto the plane will take off.
We'll head up there to Missoula will land.
We'll go straight to the hotel, go to pre game meal, have the things we do on Friday night and then 10 o'clock curfew, wake up, play the next day, one o'clock game, just like it was in Abilene.
So everything is gonna be the same.
The flight will be about an hour and 1/2 longer, probably going up there that it was that believe, but everything else the times, the itineraries will be very similar to that.
Yeah, I was even started in the biggest game careers to see.
Yeah, Yeah, it's good.
You know, You you know you're on the right track when your team performs like that.
That's why it was so clear that we weren't on the right track last year.
We play well and then get blown out or we play good for 1/4 and then get crushed in the next quarter and make mistake after mistake after mistake.
You know, you're not on the right page now.
You know you're on the right grade going in the right direction because things were happening.
We have three penalties the other night.
That's that's I don't care way at that.
We had three penalties, and I thought that was a heck of a job.
Our guys being locked in mentally because a lot of the times penalties don't know.
Add five false starts in one pre snap alignment penalty.
Let's six penalties on them that they were affected somehow whether it was the crowd being on the road, maybe it was us.
But we're not like that.
And, uh, if we're locked in mentally, that's how we complain.
We can do those things.
Yeah, I like that.
It's going in that direction. Yes.
Don't we need more? Yes, we gotta gotta continue to grow.
It's gotta gotta be reinforced all the time, so that becomes a habit.
It's not quite happened yet, but it is good to see us competing and pulling for each other out there, playing for each other instead of just playing with each other.
So here you thought so far.
Oh, it's awesome. It's you.
Like I said, man, you go play in a bowl game and I'm not like you go to a bowl game.
Everybody has a good time.
You get get a watch and you get some shoes and you get a hat and you get a video game or whatever.
That's all awesome, and they got nice parties every night.
And it's a great experience.
Don't don't get me wrong.
I love the bowl system.
It does great work for the charities in each city that holds them.
It's a great experience for the players to be able to do that in families.
This is different, man. You go.
You gotta practice every day because it's over with.
There's no you know, you know, they don't give us any gifts.
We didn't get anything there last week and we're getting thing out to the game except an opportunity to play again.
You just know there's gonna be one.
That's what I like about in this whole process.
One guy want everybody else gonna finish with loss? One team is gonna win and arrest.
Whoever else is in is finishing with the losses that you can do about it.
And, uh so I love I love the intensity of it, the preparation, all those things that I think it's pretty cool man watching go cause, you know, even though we have injuries and we got bumps and bruises all of those things.
So does everybody else.
And it's it's you've been using it as an excuse.
Or you can say, you know what? This what we're gonna do and who we got left and go from there.
No, not not at this elevation.
This is, You know, we played I played B Y u a few years back, and we kind of felt it a little bit, but it really didn't affect this.
This is about 1500 feet below that.
And so the elevation you have talked enough people in last day or two, the elevation not gonna affect us at all.
We're not staying up there for two weeks getting ready for the Olympics or anything.
We're gonna go in there.
We're gonna be in there 24 hours ago.
Play a game to get back on the plane.
So nobody that I've talked to said that the elevation should be an issue at all.
Look, yeah, I mean, they're good, The two linebackers.
I think that the All American Olsen that guy's good.
They're big, they're physical and they run what they do up front.
Friends, those guys that they use a lot of movement up front, which frees up the backers to run and hit.
And those two guys both of those things.
So I think from that standpoint, but and then the other ones hocked.
I think it's a coach's son.
Uh, he's a good.
He's an active plays in the middle of everything.
I mean, those guys, that's a catalyst for them on defense.
They do a good job defensively, But those three guys are the ones that are free hitters, and they do a good job doing really good tacklers.
Well, we got we got to know where they're at all times, which we think we will.
But we gotta be able to climb to the second level.
Robin cut him off.
Sometimes there's gonna be some times that I got inside guys Drew and Jarious and Salford.
You know, we gotta make contact on the level one, and then we got to get up to level two to cut those guys off.
If we can do that, that makes increases.
But if we don't, we're gonna struggle running the football against I want, you know, that's their personality.
Their football team is a running football team and they're a downhill physical football team, so they if you look at that number's there.
Montana State probably attempt was about half of what Montana is, so they're not gonna throw the football unless they have to.
They want to run the ball and their physical, downhill running football team.
They got a different personality and we got from that standpoint, we'd like to be more physical, but well, you know, throwing the ball for us is natural, so you won't see us doing that.
We won't line up in some of the formations and have some of the plays and schemes that they have to watch the game but way feel like we have to play a physical brand of football.
That's what we want to do anyway.
But we just got to continue.
I don't think we played as physical as we had been this past week up front in the offensive line, but we're gonna have to play physical against these guys because we're gonna have to push their defensive line back and get off and chip to get to those level two guys so that those guys don't run it.
So we're gonna for us.
We're gonna have to be physical.
But that's what Montana state did they got after they scored. Quick.
Nothing in about the 1st 3 minutes of game, I think.
Right around in there.
Say that again. I'm sorry.
I think it was the second half. Was for sure.
You know, I thought he played really well, huh? Was it, Uh, who's before? Central Arc, Houston Baptist.
Right around in there.
Yeah, they played well, then.
He's had some good games this year, you know, taking care of the football stuff like that.
But his accuracy, the look in his eye, the way he approached it, everything of second half his first half wasn't bad.
I'm not saying that, but his second half was locked in, Man.
He came out the side allies know what was gonna happen.
He just knew it.
His readings are dead on.
Yeah, it was really good.
Really good situation.
Might make some tweaks.
You know, you always got You always carry contingency plans in place, So we always have a silent count.
We've got a verbal account.
We got all those things and, you know, you practice all that during the course of week we've been practicing in camp.
I don't like it.
It's, uh it's not gonna be anything new.
So we if you run into it where it becomes a problem, we'll go to that.
You might see one of two false starts early.
That could happen because of the noise crowd noise. I don't know.
But if we're locked in, You know, last year, the whole issue we had multiple false starts early and it slowed down.
Everybody took a deep breath That could possibly happen again.
But we will prepare for, You know, I don't expect it to happen, but if it does, you kind of know what? That it might be coming.
With two r p o game throwing the ball, they'll take shots.
They're really efficient.
So they'll chip.
Chip, chip, boom! There goes man down field so you'll see him.
Our p o flat round or Pio hits our fuel, curl or peel out, run, run and then bam becomes a shot.
So there they Not that they get impatient, but they love to take the shots.
They kind of low you to sleep and then go boom over the top way.
Got to make sure you guys know that.
You know, they gotta be well aware that from every snap they could be taken.
They don't take a lot of back to back shots, but they'll take some shots.
And on a regular basis, they do the other big play team.
Maybe this week, supposedly coming back this week of practice.
Yeah, every game time decision, whether it gets on the plane and not, you know, we could bring it.
Many guys that want you can't play with 64 but we get the bigger plane.
So we'll just would you bring out 64 limp on him in the stadium and do our best? Wait.
Yeah, yeah, yeah, you know, it's like he asked.
The playoffs is just different.
It's one of you win and you keep going and you lose.
You done, man, and that's the beauty of it.
If you I don't have to motivate the guys to come to practice, I don't have to motivate him to be in the meetings.
After motivated get him up in the morning.
They're doing that because they know what's at stake.
It's you, you know, 22 23 seniors.
It's the last game.
It could be their last game and the career is over, so they want to keep playing.
Let's keep playing.
I'm pulling for him.
I wanted to be playing, too.
Yeah, you'd like to, but I mean, chasing, locked in, worked on it.
You know, when he's when he's like that, you just let him go.
And, uh, I think that any court, any any time you have a quarterback who's really doing is in that position because it does.
You know, there's some peaks and valleys.
Even the great ones happened.
I think if you want brain in last night, you know you're struggling with some stuff, but when you get a guy that's locked in like that, you just ride it.
And I thought Greg did a super job play calling the other night.
Not that he doesn't do it, but the other night you really took advantage of who him being hot and then spreading it out.
Where CJ in Branson and J.
And you know, every now and then Devante and getting the ball of those guys, you know? You know, that's another one month.
They had a heck of a game tonight, too.
He's been our best player.
May have been so good for us.
When you look at it, what Greg did being it will spread the ball around and get it to those guys.
Especially some explosive plays.
Wait 14 explosives.
12 in the past game, only two in the run game.
So when you get knows, just keep keep firing away.
Yeah, kind of safe.
Well, I don't think, you know, sometimes you go line up and you like this past week.
Takeaway number two.
We took him away.
Uh, you know, he had one big play to the end, but for the most part, during a game, we thought we did a really good job.
Uh, you can't do that against us because we got some guys who go make some plays.
You know, I don't even miss mention Austin, You know, Austin's been making big plays for it's all year, but you can't.
You can't just take away the Monte or C J of Branson shut down the past game because that's we got a lot of guys we could go to and, you know, we practice that way.
Those guys practice that way to practice hard.
Those are hardest working guys on our team.
And you will get the best results with Ms Baby.
You have, You know, you Yeah.
You know, uh, we went through four games and we played really well and beat some good teams.
And, uh, you know, we want I mean, really wanted.
We need e come out, we want it.
And maybe they maybe they got to be a little too comfortable.
I don't know, but Nichols is a good football team.
So they didn't the reason we lost one because we got comfortable.
They just beat us by point.
That night, they outscored us.
But I think the hurt that we felt that to that game, uh, you know, refocused maybe a little bit.
Not that they weren't, but it just might have happened.
Sometimes you gotta go through those things to appreciate what you actually have. You have to.
It gets taken away from You know what's different putting that in life and it gets taken away from you we're gonna do.
And now you You want to fight for it cause you don't want to go.
But you don't have that feeling again.
You want to go back to that spot and we one point short way can have a go on.
We had one point extra.
So I should like this past.
I'm better than I did. That other one.
Yeah, directs the outfits running everything.
He's really he's really a fishing.
Throws the football.
Well, eyes athletic can run.
It's got a good arm, but they do a lot of stuff and he doesn't really well, really efficient.
I wouldn't say he's not a prototypical dropback passer.
He's not a scramble guy.
He's he keeps his eyes downfield, does that.
But he's real efficient.
Run! They've got a good offensive scheme.
He's real efficient running.
That's a big thing with him.
Thanks, guys. Appreciate it.
I'm gonna say this.
This is gonna be a very tough game.
What? This is this is one team, but they sure he said about the all Pios.
They're gonna run those off, Pios.
They also gonna go down.
They're gonna take their chances down the field.
I mean, look, don't run.
Uh, don't pass whenever they can, But no, Um uh, they'll run.
That's one thing about it.
So I make no mistake about it.
This is not gonna be, um um and easy, Easier said.
Gained. Like the Villanova game.
This is entirely different situation.
Like I like, he said, Just like he said for the bowl game.
Look, the bowl games.
Look, you get a nice little wife to stuff like that on, but But the playoffs? Look, you don't get anything I love.
You want to get a chance to play a team.
And that's one thing you're gonna be getting.
That's That's what I like about East upset out playoffs.
One they you want.
It's one. And done.
If you don't know when you're done.
Serious parent and the story.
So let's go ahead and switch over to the Montana press conference.
They had theirs on Monday, so we'll go ahead and hit the button.
I had to hit this button right here, which is over my pant aggressive coach.
Uh, certainly it's exciting to have playoff football back in Missoula.
Um, you know, with the big second round game against Southeast Louisiana.
Um, I think our fans need to rise up this weekend and playoff football is always fun.
We need a great Saturday in this stadium.
Southeast Louisiana is obviously have really good football team.
Um, they had a great win against Villanova last weekend.
It was fun to watch.
It was an exciting game and, uh, a lot of good plays on both sides of the ball.
I think that could cell phone his staff to a really nice job of of, ah, coaching their team.
They, uh they seem to be a team that, um coaches and plans to attack what you do well on take advantage of you rather than being a way do we do type outfit, which I think is, uh you have to know what you're doing to be able to do it that way, and and that seems to be their their system.
Um, they're good up front on both sides of the ball as well as being extremely skilled, um, in all the skill position players.
So it'll be a real test for us.
They've got 20 transfer players on there too deep which is interesting.
They've done a good job of blending that group with their team, including 12 FBS players.
So ah, a lot of good looking athletes on their on their film Virgil, their quarterbacks and all conference.
Well, well, he's what? He's one of the F.
B s transfers, and we're familiar with Virgil because he was a president state were a bunch of us were coaching in the Mountain West.
We We know him well.
We've seen him up close and personal.
Um, you just nice job.
Obviously a game Last weekend, he was on the money, and, uh, you know, he runs it pretty well, but he's a good thrower, and, um, he's a veteran player.
He knows what he's doing.
This a long history with quarterbacks.
You see, cell phones get a long history, a lot of stuff that's a football family down there.
I haven't really thought of it in that regard.
They're pretty good quarterback guys in Fresno, too.
So, um, but he's he's better now than he was president.
So he's You certainly get some coaching and, you know, because cell phones, the guy that's coaching him, whoever's doing, it's done a nice job.
Big kid. Arkansas Transfer.
They used him a little more to run it.
He's a He's a big guy.
He's tall, but he's big.
He's been a little bit more of a runner.
He's got 10 touchdowns on the season, leads him in touchdowns.
Uh, 10 rushing touchdowns, that is.
And, uh, you know, he played in the first half last week, didn't play in the second half, but he's a guy that they like to put the ball in his hands in short yardage situations and down in the goal line area.
Oh, Frank, I don't know the answer to that.
I, uh I don't know the answer to that.
You seems to me it's It's a it's your draft, but you know, then they'll do it.
So I guess a little of both 2% southeast Louisiana.
But you play a team from the South before.
Yeah, Traditionally, they throw the ball around a lot.
So does this look like a South one team that you may be familiar with fast? Yeah, a little bit.
I mean, everybody's running this stuff on offense, so it's not a certainly exclusive, too, their conference.
But, uh, you know, they're they're spread it out.
They had a significant R P O game and a lot of zone quarterbacks.
He can run it, even throw it So I mean, it's a lot like a lot of the teams.
We see your approach last week to get your team mentally prepared for this week.
With two weeks off, you overcome the disappointment.
The robbery? Well, we just went back to work.
That's what you do when or lose, you go back to work and get ready.
So, uh, I think it is with our health.
Being is bad as it was is I think that the ability to not play on Saturday was great for us, so it would have been hard to limp out there last Saturday.
So, you know, people little bit practice and lifting a couple of days off, probably really good for us.
You look like anybody from the Big Sky gets a place so far this year.
Um, probably SAC State would be the closest, both in terms of style and personnel again there.
They're good up front, and they're and they're really skilled.
So Sack would be the one, I think, probably the best comparison.
Maybe it's a green you tease.
Go ahead back couple years since is bad.
Yeah, when you're when you're too long.
Expect the environment to be like both in Washington residents in the city this week leading up to Well, I hope it's great.
I know everybody's leading up to the season was excited about the the prospect of getting back into the playoffs, and certainly it's a place we we want to be accustomed to.
But I would assume everybody's pretty juiced up about this deal.
I know our team is, and our staff is.
So I really, uh, like I mentioned when we started, I really hope people are excited about it.
And we have a fun day on Saturday, a little bit ahead of schedule.
You know, when you first took the job, things clicked for your team.
When you think I think you're ahead of schedule this point, you have more wins, and I thought we'd get players coaching hard work.
Uh, they're multiple.
Um, it depends on the week.
It's kind of like I mentioned when I sat down.
They they think they can, too, to scheme to beat you rather than just do what they do.
So that's a hard question to answer.
I mean, some weeks, they're odd.
Some weeks or even some weeks, they're more zone.
They lied to that.
Some weeks they leaned more, man.
So, um, they scratch it, they choose how to play, and then they go with it.
Four tackles for loss, which would be the most of the big A lot.
Yeah, I didn't actually didn't realize that number out.
When you watch the film, is that a really important factor of them just getting well? I think it's time you can defense all the r give people behind schedule.
It's ah, it's a benefit to your defense.
I mean, if if you get him to 30 you went on first down and get losses or second down, then all of a sudden you're in third longer here.
You'd be better and third down and more three and outs and all those things that add up.
I spent a lot of time in the postseason for the guys on your team. Not so much.
Is there anything that you have needed to do this? We will need to do this week to sort of get them in the right mode to play in the postseason.
I think they'll be excited to play, which is the critical thing.
Um, you know, they they all came in yesterday, and we're on Sunday afternoon.
We're talking about it stopped into make sure we're working his coaches, I suppose.
But they're they're excited to play, and that's that's what's important.
They're coming up a huge, you know that.
Come back, Wayne.
Last second when they're gonna have a lot of momentum.
How important? Kind of the first couple drives first quarter, even the first half establishing moment.
Um, well, I think like like us, they've been a, um, really good second half team, so I don't know where that plays into it.
All four teams got first round byes this year.
Just what kind of statement is after the league? That quality of competition you face this year in the big sky? Yeah, I think, uh, obviously we had a strong conference this year.
Um, I think certainly all four teams air deserving.
I don't know how you would sort one out, because, I mean, three of us we were sacking us.
Um, so I don't know how you'd ever sorted out.
And then obviously we got beaten her last one by by, uh, Bobcats, so I mean, that's sweet. Probably.
How Toby, um, we'll see how the weekend goes conference having more teams in this kind situation before your start as far as talent.
You know, I don't really think of it.
That was so hard for me to answer.
I think we have a good league, all right, Those three teams this year, How much do you need Help? Well, when you get to the postseason, everybody's good.
And I think that the teams that we played in our league, we didn't play the bottom in the league much.
So I think our conference probably gave us our conference scheduled Montana Grizzlies conference schedule gave us a, uh ah, good prep for the playoffs.
Um, if we're healthy enough to compete, that also takes its toll.
So there's the push polar that you know, one weighs against together.
If you play a little softer schedule, you're healthier at the end of the year.
Certainly that was the case for us.
Predict the weather for Saturday, but I'm gonna assume that you work with the weatherman.
What, like Snow? They had to be great.
I was gonna be kind of my question.
No matter what the weather is gonna be, it's gonna be colder than what I'm assuming most of the Southeastern Louisiana players are used to.
How does that kind of play a role? Well, I think it was in the mid seventies there or something like that for their game last weekend.
When the playoff seeding came out, we looked just for entertainment sake.
It was, I think, 76 there, and we were pretty bundled up over there for the the announcement.
Um, it won't be warm here, that's for sure.
And and, uh, you know, at this time of year, any any advantage you can get would help.
I don't know if it'll be an advantage or not.
Um, but it'll be gold.
Certainly the all time greats who have played at the school, you know, when it's all said and done, Dante's gonna be right up there.
What have you enjoyed coaching in the last two years? You know the fact that he's just a humble guy that works his tail off.
He wants to be good.
He, uh, is not satisfied unless he improves.
And then, you know, personally, he's just a He's a wonderful guy to be around.
And he's good, not just football.
He's He's a good person.
So he's a great guy, depending on the expansion of Sellafield.
24 teams for so long.
Um, well, I think that this, if I were dead retroactively, go back to former life here.
I think it would have been real beneficial to us, You know, this this last Saturday off.
It was good for us.
Um, I think it would've helped us before.
I also think that, uh, in terms of if we never get to the national championship game, having it played with three week break would have behaved our performance to be a little bit better.
Um, you know, in the old days, we had to play on Saturday, work all night, Saturday night, Sunday, Monday, and get on a plane Tuesday morning and fly back there.
It wasn't great for game preparation, so, yeah, if we can get good enough.
Um, I think this is great for us.
If we can it doesn't matter, All right.
I'm gonna say one thing about that Montana weather that's gonna be that's gonna be the factor right there.
Look, they said it's gonna be cold up there, and it always does turn cold.
I mean, those does some those states like that and they do turn cold.
I mean, but that's gonna be that's gonna be something that's gonna be a factor right there.
This is the weapon.
I mean, Southeastern also learn to adapt to that situation because, um uh, the altitude and stuff like that the aptitude and it's stuff like that going into those games.
So I look at it this way.
This is an entirely different situation for this sum, but it seemed to enduring right here.
So let's go ahead and give you the breakdown weekly breakdown.
I'm gonna pull it up, pull it up on my screen, okay? Everything's on my screen.
Um, I can a grisly football.
Um, this season they went 99362 On the season, they got the first round by in the playoffs.
They played against, um Their first game was against North Dakota, and it kind of won that game.
They also played against North Alabama.
But they also will play and they played it up, be up to pull it and organ.
And they lost big time, 35 3 What they played against these teams like Mama Pin, the Lost one, that gay so that I'm gonna tell you they won.
They want some games, any loss engaged by a lot.
But this is a very good football team.
This is a This is a very experienced playoff team.
This is not a one time deal.
This is a very experienced football team in the playoffs now.
Southeastern, on the other hand, is the miss the exception to the rule because what Southeastern hasn't been into the playoffs said they joined the D one back in the eighties.
There wasn't d to back then Southeastern.
There was an ADI, too.
The lower division, that was, um so that's that's the difference right there And then the program.
Hansen came back until, um, 2003.
They restated football self recent, didn't have football since, um, 1980 I think 1986 in 1985.
It's a long time.
It's about maybe about 20 130 something years before the brought back football here in the Southeastern.
So Montana is a very experienced football team.
This team, I'm gonna tell you.
This is the first time we're gonna be playing this team.
They played him, um, back.
And I think it's 2015 about four years ago in that situation.
So Okay, let's give you the breakdown is on both of these teams.
Breakdown wise, um, Southeast and scores 37 points a game on my tennis scores. 35.
So they're kind of 35 points a game, so they'll score those 35 points a game.
Now points off turnovers, they will get those points off turnovers.
83 points off eternal with Southeast and has 70 now on first down.
This is the comparison right here.
Will give you Go on.
Between these two genes, Southeastern matches up pretty well southeast of matches.
A pretty well on first down, um, on paper, this is what this is on paper right here.
Rushing yards for southeastern South averages 139 yard gain.
Montana averages 150 yards again, so they're kind of run, run prone on games.
They run 438 times, so they averaged 4.
So they averaging a pretty good 4.
1 clip Now, passing wise, they pass 445 times in games they have.
Um um, 26 touchdowns passing and also 30 touchdowns running so they'll run the ball in football, said, I'll run the football of Montana Grizzlies.
They will run the football.
Um, in these games, um, passing wise, they'll have 26 touchdowns, but they're interceptions in deception rate.
They have 11 interceptions.
Selfish spends 13 interceptions.
So they got less than interceptions than, um, Southeast and combined.
Now the total yards.
A game show to go on the game, they average.
Let's look at it.
We're looking at it right now.
The average 440 yards to game Southeastern averages 484 yards a game.
So 484 4/4 kind of stents stents is right there.
Um um, selfish in using 9 25 925 plays, um, Montana uses 883 plays in games.
That's your breakdown right there.
Now we'll give you the chocolates for Los wo we'll give you that.
I'll see if I could find that Tackles for loss of look forward on the screen fumbles in the game.
This is what we'll give your fumbles of the game selfish and fumbles it 21 times and loses the 13 times.
So that's kind of not good right there.
That's the mistake that they have the correct right dance out Montana.
Um, Onley, Fumble said. 11.
And I lose that eight times a game.
The penalty yards.
I mean, Southeastern has 87 penalty going for 69 point to, um, Average.
But I'ma tell you Montana had 66.
That's under 60% right there.
That's under 60% on the penalties right there.
That's under 60% now on third down conversion.
Since this is what we'll break down for your Southeast and averages 40%.
At 71 73 Montana averages 76 of 163 and that's a 47% clip right there.
Now on fourth down.
Southeastern would definitely would go for it on fourth down 24 37 for 65% and Montana is 7 to 16 44% now.
Zach, yours This is what we're talking about.
Southeastern has 41 sacks.
Montana has 30 sacks.
That's 30 sacks.
We'll give you that. Break down.
Selfish and average of 60 to Montana 58.
Now, the red zone efficiency.
This is what we talked about right here.
Yes, his rights on the efficiency.
1/2 inches, 80%.
So they're good in the red zone and then touchdown.
So red zone touchdowns of 69%.
Southeastern that 85% and 73% on touchdowns.
So that's when you look at it.
This this is gonna be the equal, um, on separation between these two teams.
Um, my Tana, um score bar quarter my tennis scores 48 points in first quarter.
They also score 135 points in the second quarter.
They also score 147 points in third quarter.
So for 31 2306 they give up only 306 yards and points bring on six.
Um, points a game.
Now Southeastern, on the other hand, averages 448 points a game.
They score 113 in the first quarter 125 in the second quarter.
Also 117 in the bomb third quarter and also 93 points.
But the overtime period.
Both teams are even zero right there.
Um, Jason Burt, That's what they're talking about.
So I say this Look, this is gonna be a very good game on paper on paper right now, Southeast.
And I'd say Max is up pretty well against Montana.
But the only exception is it's the running game.
That's the only exception right there that will separate these two football teams.
Eyes the running games.
Uh, because my 10 averages 150 yards a game and, um, running.
So that's the That's the biggest, um, separation right there.
So there there are the guy ocean that God Olsen that they talked about in the press conference.
He is one of their top doctor.
Was again for tomato and aggressively.
So they go southeast is gonna be facing some very stallion football players in Montana.
So I'll give you some war right down.
This is their coach, Bobby back.
That's H a U c k.
That's been there since, uh uh 2003.
So he he's been there almost 16 years.
A cz their coach but Montana Grizzlies racket is, um, it's overall Rockets 95 25.
He's also 57 12 Conference.
So his Rocket, he's got a pretty good rocket.
Now coach your hats for the Montana Grizzlies.
Now this is the joint going into the game on the quarterback.
Let's see, they got the quarterback.
Was show you that quarterback get a quarterback is don't Steve don't need.
Is that redshirt senior on Also, um, Cam Humphrey eyes there.
Junior? Yes, there, two quarterbacks that they're going to use now.
The wide receivers they got.
I'm saying his name and also moly flowers that they're too wide receivers.
And also they use, um, Mitchell Roberts and Q and A is white on number 17.
So they got number 17 needs of freshman when the football team as well, so we'll give you those stats in just a 2nd May go ahead and scroll down to their stats.
I'll give you their break in their stats there.
Stop breakdown in just a second.
I'm a business. The yacht.
This is what they're talking about about my Danna.
Okay, turn over differentials will give you the eternal of differentials.
They're plus five that, plus the coming into this game, plus five indium check giveaway takeaway ratios and their plus five.
So they're going plus five.
I am, um 24 take away.
So they have 24 takeaways and they also have 19 giveaways, which is on the giveaways is on the offense.
They give away the ball 19 times, but they take away the ball 24 times.
That's the biggest norm right there.
So that's something right there.
Selfish, cannot absolutely not do.
It's turned over that football because it's sure you had three turnovers against Villanova.
I mean, they can and they absolutely optimistic team like their toe take away the box.
So that's something like that that this lying football team has to understand.
Okay, He's your scored their scoring drives right here.
This is on their scoring drives.
Let's give you this last corn drive.
This was against Montana State.
They did score on a two yard run, and also they disco on a seven going run.
So that was in the football game.
That was, um allow two weeks ago against mine. 10 estate.
So they they scored on four plays and 36 yards and also scored.
But 11 play. 81.
He's you scoring drive that my tenant does score in football games.
So I look at it this way.
This is going they can score.
That could score these on this.
This was in the second quarter, Um, their game.
So the second quarter's they will score in the second quarter, they will score.
Also, they will score, most likely against.
They scored in the 2nd 1st 2nd and third water.
So that's something right there.
This is their common opponents right here that they had to play, um, in our gains.
So the last time they play southeast with back in, Um, I think it was in 15 a couple of years ago, So Okay, this is there.
Um, this is there.
After the first quarter, the Grizzlies are five.
I know after lied in the first quarter after trail in the first quarter there, one in three also trailing out the one water than two and zero.
So if they trail in this game that got a pretty good rocket there.
Two and zero now leading at halftime.
They 60 also trailing at halftime.
That three and three tied at halftime.
The 00 So it 00 rocket Also, uh, let's say when they score when they lead after the third quarter.
That 90 also when they trail after the third quarter.
So they're all in three after the when they trailing.
Um, so that's the biggest.
Some separation when they score Birthday six and one when opponents score first at three and two when the outrushed opponents there six and zero.
Also, when they come out crushed by opponents.
333 I'll pass by opponents.
Therefore one out.
Um, pass my poor.
This is out of our passing opponents, so they all pass opponents there for him.
So when they play against opponents and they out pass from their Form one now, when they're being out past by bullets and 52 um, more your DS more total yours.
An opponent's their own.
Dining zero fewer yards there, only three.
So when they go few it going against opponents, their own three now winning the turnover battle, which they can do their plus five there for someone when they win the turnover battle.
Because you win the turnover battle.
You win the game.
Now when they lose the turnover battle there wanted to now, even in turnovers, they're 40 now on penalties.
Tell more penalties by opponents that two and three fewer families by opponents on then then the opponent.
They're six and zero.
Um, same Penley's as opponents that wanted zero.
Um, Lord is ah, halftime lead to have 18.
Also deficit 21 when scoring 20 of more points at nine and one when they hold opponents to 20 or more points.
70 When the games decided by three or more points, there's 00 Also, 10 points decided the games decided by 10.
Also 11 20 points, 60 Also, um, let's say gain decided by, UM, 21 points of more than three and three scoring touchdowns on to drive.
So the 1st 2 drives they to him. One.
So they're winning when they have been forced to drive there, too.
And one when they have no touchdowns on the first couple of drives, they're, um, 72.
So when you have no touchdowns.
They still seven and two on those 1st 2 drives.
That seven and two.
Now, when the temperature is at 90 degrees, 00 80 degrees there, Um um, see, when it when it's at 50 degrees, that two and zero, it's gonna be a lot over up there and build in Montana.
I mean, look, my 10 is known for having snow and all up in it up in that area.
Also, when it's below 50 degrees, like it sounds like right now, it's, um, 50 something over here.
Uh, it's, um it's gonna probably be about maybe about 40 40 blood.
It'll probably be form one.
And also cooler temperatures.
Also, warmer temperatures.
Okay, when I'm Montana wins the coin toss there for someone.
When they lose the coin.
Toss that Bible June when they're playing the month of December 200 When they play in the month of November, That three and one.
So that's your records right there.
Looking at that situation.
Uh, Nick, So I'll be honest with you.
This is something right here.
This is a very good Montana football team.
This is the first meeting.
Selfie should never not a team like this before.
And I mean never.
Well, and then getting in history that Southeastern came around and during the football season, I mean 15 years.
Look, you never met a team like that on these are just some.
This is this is a tightly different situation going into the sum playoffs.
So e I mean, look, I'm not tryingto look, this is a very good one, Teen.
I mean, sure, that could be in the FBS.
And I'll tell you right now that could be in the Fbl sooner or later.
What? The F c s is kind of Lu better for them, because look, that can win titles there.
Um so I'ma pull up beyond me, see if I could get their number.
This is the guy they talking about, Dante Ocean.
That's one of their linebackers.
This is their all American that they're talking about.
That's one of these.
This is This is quite amazing.
This is I'm gonna tell you.
You gotta know where he's at at all times.
And this is not a guy right here. This is the quarterback.
That's their quarterback.
Um, so he's gonna be He's gonna probably be a big factor in this game this coming Saturday when they take to the field up and, um, Missoula, Montana.
Where's that? Missoula, Montana.
He's an offensive MPP, Um, so they also have I runningback are wide receiver by the name above.
Jerry Lewis McGee.
That's, um, one of their, um, that's why I've received He's got some good he's got these are the these guys they're gonna be playing right there.
Okay, this is not a guy Samuel Bacon's.
He's also wide receiver J some Lewis.
He's also ah, linebacker.
So he's gonna be in that game. Jason Lewis.
So I'm gonna tell you this This is a very interested football team right here. Wait.
First time I'm seeing this sum Montana football team.
So Okay, let's give you the young overall breakdown.
The stats on this team.
Okay, let's give it a quarterback breakdowns. Okay.
Um, don't sneak.
This is this is their quarterback talked about Ah, He has 19 touchdowns on seizing throws on nine in reception, but here's the difference.
He he also he also runs He's all right.
He's also a runner, a swell.
So he's gonna be door threat.
When you look at that, he's a dual threat. What a man.
They're running back to some that got Marcus Knight.
Um, Nick, um, us us asked.
Um oh, I'm trying to say his name.
He's averaging three Point yours for Cain.
Also Adam Eastwood.
He's also wanted that running backs for and also Louis McGee for their team.
Not wide receivers you got on towards.
Catchy sees average.
He has 10 touchdowns.
Aitken's has five touchdowns.
McGee has three touchdowns.
Ah! Touchdown as well sets that this is a pretty good wide receiver.
They averaging, um, 12.
1, Yo, it's for average.
So they got some good wide receivers on its football team ready on Montana Grizzlies.
So I'm gonna tell you, but Southeast is gonna have to.
The corners are gonna have to be very consistent and covering these guys because they could make some plays out of the backfield.
That's one thing they could make place.
When? When you, um look at it.
So this is some of the Montana Grizzlies.
This came out, uh, November 2055.
They didn't play a game because they had the They got a first round bye in the playoffs because there was a top seed in the playoffs.
Now, let's give you their defense of people.
I'm going to give you their defense of people in just a second.
Okay? Let's give you their defense about people get a defense of people.
They have 15 sacks of game 15 sacks for 74 yards.
Then May sack guy and games would be this guy right here.
Um, I think I like this guy's name.
Um um grumble from g g u b e N r.
I'ma tell you he has towards that two sacks again.
Also, this guy right here, O'Connell O'Connell has six sacks again.
So that's some of the guys there's gonna be.
I'm making some impacts from Montana and they will make some impacts.
They have 69 tackles for loss.
That's one thing about it.
They're very good tackle.
It's right there, um, in space, when you look at it, the main God has got uh, tackles for loss is Olsen.
Olsen can get you in the back.
The whole season is one off.
Olsen could get you in the back field.
That's one thing the selfish running backs up don't do is, um, get caught in those situations on where they get tackles for losses, because that can cause some problems right there.
Um, in the situation now they have 15 interceptions in the game.
They have 30 sacks of game and also 15 interceptions.
That's one thing.
They have 15 and deceptions.
You also have, um, 16 quarterback hurries.
The main guy that that will have the quarterback hers would be Jace Louis.
That's one of their guys will get the quarterback hurries right then in games.
Now the fumbles.
They will have not day at nine fumbles.
They don't have.
They have not fumble there, Jen.
Ah, game as a team.
The Montana Grizzlies.
That's one thing about it.
So I look at it this way southeast and cannot go up there and screw up because I'm gonna tell you like they say one and done.
You win your science.
If you don't, you're out.
Sample with that? Sure.
What? The FBI side.
But you can have bowl games.
You're gonna go to a nice little bowl game, Um, doing the, um, seizing.
But the F C s playoffs.
You gotta win one game. Folks.
Gotta win one game.
You don't win one game, you're done.
That simple is that it's just like the NFL playoffs.
You don't, um, when you're done, you're done for the year.
So, um, my take is this, um, it's Southeast.
Could go in, win this game on like they did against Villanova.
Going over what's an entirely different monster than this team by This team's entirely different right here.
This thing is a very experienced football team in the playoffs.
They get into the playoffs.
Year after year after year, Zombies had never been in the playoffs.
What sets their exception and d one football? That song? Sure.
I went to the had the championship a couple of years ago and went to the playoffs.
This is there second time in these playoffs.
That's one thing about it, uh, in, um, and in this football team's history, this team's been on the ground 16 years.
They've been around since 2003 because they brought back football back in 2003.
So I look at it this way.
Southwest has got to come in this game not screwing up.
Don't have those three turnovers.
Control of a clock.
That's what you gotta do.
Control the clock.
If you can control the flak, guess what? You can win the game.
You don't control the claque.
You lose the game.
Montana will continue.
What? What, Chuck? Woodchuck Those plays down the field the last time they was in the playoffs with back in 2000.
And, um um say, um, 13.
And I think 14 that was back.
And that was a couple of years ago.
That was about me about 44 to 5 years ago.
If my memory serves me correct.
So So I'm looking.
I'm looking for a great game here.
I'm looking to see if Southeastern can have that ability.
Um, handled this assess that they've been having, um, in this on 2019 campaign because look, in recent years, look Southeast hasn't learned from their mistakes, um, and not repeat the same mistakes that they made a couple of years ago.
What? The years? That southeastern head, um, been around in this 15 years? This is 15 years going on 16 years, um, that they've been back for football.
What? That has been losing years has been losing years.
But back in 2013 in 2014 it all changed.
What round robins coming in to be the Southeastern Coats.
They took him the two chick championships.
Thio, Southland Conference championships.
Don't Don't underestimate these small little football teams right here.
The diesel small war F.
I can absolutely play with the big boys if, um if needed.
So, um, once again, thanks for joining us for this sum.
Southeastern versus Montana preview.
I appreciate you coming in.
