Hello Lakers nation.
Welcome in the Lakers Nation postgame show.
Your Los Angeles Lakers just picked up an enormous win over the Denver Nuggets.
I gotta admit, guys, I was nervous heading into this one, especially with all those rumors about half the team being sick and all of that.
The Nuggets being such a good defensive team.
But the Lakers pulled it out.
What a performance again.
105 to 96 Lakers.
Pick up the weight over the second place team in the Western Conference and the best defensive team in the NBA.
Impressive stuff from them.
We're going to dive into it, but first quick shots are sponsors up. Time, energy drinks.
Pretty sure this is how the Lakers got through their sickness.
Don't quote me on that butt up Time.
Energy drink Fueling.

Jazz Kang Back in action, Jess.
How are you doing, man? And how the heck to the Lakers get through that game? Well, I feel like I need to hit the gym a few more times to burn off all the Thanksgiving, the food Wait that I put on.
But you know what? I was impressed with it to him.
We were texting before the game talking about how OK, they got the flu.
This is gonna be a tough game.
You're coming off that.
And the Lakers have said, I mean, LeBron James, these guys and said We're not gonna lose two in a row.
We don't have known to game losing streaks.
And I mean, I saw some haters online, kind of talking about how okay, the Lakers schedule has been soft, which admittedly, it has been a little bit, you know, there's no denying it, but to go into Denver Ah, place where not a lot of teams win, especially last season as well and beat a pretty **** good Nuggets team.
I would just impress a world with the defense.
I thought the Lakers dominated.
I mean, if you look at the team stats of the advantage, 56 35 on the rebounds offensive rebounding 14 to 7.
And some of those players like nickel.
You okay? It was invisible out there.
I thought, Anthony Davis bottom him up as well.
So credit to the defense holding a team like the Nuggets to 96 96 points overall.
Yeah, I mean, look, you mentioned the rebounding.
That was incredible, though.
That's that's where the Lakers won this game.
And that's what we've been talking about.
Well, that and the defensive end.
That's what we've been talking about from day one, that the Lakers need to be the bullies in the paint that they need to dominate the boards.
And tonight they did that.
They came out with aggression, They came out with some energy and they just pushed this Denver Nuggets team around.
I got to tell you, I was watching the Denver feed because I like to hear the opposing team's point of view on things to kind of get a different perspective.
And, yeah, it can be a little bit challenging sometimes.
But But they kept remarking about how dominant the Lakers were on the boards and how the Nuggets just didn't have the size to contend with them.
It was an impressive performance on that end, and you mentioned the defense.
This looked almost like the defense that we saw at the beginning of the season, and that was a great, great thing to see something we've been missing in the last few weeks.
Yeah, you know what? The team was struggling a bit.
Sands, the big superstars in terms of the starters with A D and LeBron who combined for 50 points.
You know what I mean? Almost basically half the team's squads overall output.
But if you look at guys like a CPU, have set some shots.
Danny Green two for 12.
So I think offensively, they struggled.
But the good news in this one didn't have just one guy off the bench.
Dominated like Dwight Howard looked really good.
Rondo hits a big shot.
They combined for 42 points, right? And against the Mavericks, they combined for 29 I feel like when when you're looking at this roster the Waves constructed, it's gonna be imperative when you're playing against teams like the Nuggets like Utah tomorrow night and when they play against the Clippers again on Christmas, tohave some contribution from your bench and against the Mavericks, when when they needed some hoops were guys like LeBron and 80 maybe had been tired or they just needed a rest.
They weren't getting that.
So the pressure didn't fall in Cosmo, who I'm sure we're gonna talk about at some point.
So to me, overall, this was an impressive other Matt, maybe 56 minutes stretch at the beginning of the third.
This is the most complete game the Lakers have played all season to me.
Yeah, you know, it's kind of funny.
You and I were texting back and forth, and at halftime I said, Well, they played.
They played with effort and energy the entire first half.
Let's see if they could make it a full game because I don't think we've seen that yet.
I don't think they've seen them play full, complete game with their foot fully down on the gas pedal for the entire 48 minutes.
We've seen kind of the ebbs and flows, and they're a good enough team where they can get away with that.
And sure enough, the beginning in third quarter they came out flat.
But again, to their credit, the game was tied at one point, in fact, that the Nuggets even took the lead.
It's a one point lead back.
The Lakers battled back.
They they absorbed the blow.
They had the poise.
They had the confidence to come right back and then knocked the Nuggets right back down.
To what? Down five, then down.
Six of them were They just They managed to win this game when it was crunch time.
And that's something this team has shown from day one and again really, really impressed with the way that they handle things.
Let me ask you something.
Did you Did you have a fear in your mind when the Nuggets took the lead? That oh, they're gonna start pulling away over you like art we're gonna gave you at the end? No, I mean, I certainly had a little bit of fear because I kept thinking they're playing at altitude right there, playing at at altitude.
That's always difficult.
How are you gonna gonna figure that out? How is that going to work? Um, not an easy thing to deal with, right when you're playing at it.
at way ups up high.
I thought that with between the illness and that the thin air that those two things combined might have been been kind of catching up to the Lakers.
It's always a little bit concerned, but then they handle it in. No problem.
Yeah, I mean, they look, they didn't look like they were running out of gas at all in this game.
And we had heard rumors about the flu that 80 didn't practice and then he wasn't feeling well.
He was under the weather, so I was a little bit concerned when I was reading the reports coming out earlier today.
But yeah, I mean, to me, this was just like you had all your guys had 10 guys play, you know, five guys off the bench.
The numbers were minutes were pretty evenly distributed.
Rhonda was a high guy with 25 but I think when you're looking at and I tweeted this attitude, Dwight Howard, 13 point State Lakers seven, and oh, and Dwight Howard has scored in double figures, so it shows how important it is that they get contributions from guys from the bench on a consistent basis in order to come because we know they're gonna be They're gonna slap around the teams like the Memphis Grizzlies and the Charlotte Hornets and the Washington Wizards of the MBA.
But I think everybody wanted to see how they responded to this one specifically, and the fact that they got the contribution that they did from the guys off the bench.
I think it shows how important that is gonna be going forward when you're playing against the top teams in the league.
It definitely is.
It was really important that they were able to kind of answer this challenge because this is what we've heard right.
We've heard from haters across the league that the Lakers aren't that good.
They've just had a super easy schedule.
And then when the Dallas Mavericks beat the Lakers kind of beat up on him, Um, certainly where their offense was picking the Lakers apart.
That was just evidence for everybody to point to you and go Ah ha.
See, seeing this Lakers team is not that good.
And then they respond.
They come out here and they beat a very, very good Denver Nuggets team.
It's just so impressive Yeah, man.
I mean, and that was the thing.
That the kind of the like.
That's what the heater is.
What? They were questioning his old the Lakers schedule soft.
We'll see what happens. Okay. Okay.
Yeah, They had a rough outing against Dallas.
You're also looking at That's a one o'clock start coming off whatever the guys did for Thanksgiving, who knows that they had family over and ate a crap load of turkey like I like I did over those days, and they were just getting sluggish.
But, you know, for them to come out and do what they did in Denver, I think it's very impressive.
And now you're looking at tomorrow's game.
They've got a bit of a break.
No, Mike Conley Jr for Utah.
He's out with an injury.
So, um, you know, if they can make it two in a row tomorrow, I think that would go a long way to silence the haters that are saying no.
The Lakers aren't the team to beat the MBA.
That will go a very long way to silence people that air that are criticizing the Lakers right now, you know, look impressive stuff overall, and now you mentioned they go back to back, so they've got a big challenge ahead of them.
But so far, this team has kind of met these challenges.
We know they wanted to go into this game without losing two in a row.
But you and I were both saying before the game that we were worried with the whole sickness thing we're worried about about the fact that they're traveling and everything that you had combined know Avery Bradley has affected their defense, and we were concerned that in fact, they were talking about Do you go put money on the Nuggets? Now that we hear that the Lakers are the Lakers, that half the team is sick? Anthony Davis was sick and it didn't matter.
The Lakers still got it down, and that's just so, so impressive.
You know what? Let's let's jump into this.
I'm sure your comments on it is Well, get Kyle Kuzma two for 66 points.
You were you were mentioning during the game.
He had a couple of backdoor cuts, missing layups, stepped out of bounds.
What the hell is going wrong with Kyle Koosman? Because we said in the beginning when he came back and on, you know, all the minute full fledged.
I'm like, give him about a month.
If we're getting into December and into the middle of December and this is kind of the trend, then we could start to worry about it.
So are you starting to worry right now? Because it's been a month since he came back and, uh, that stretch where he had a few double digit 20 point game.
He had a nice one against, Ah, a New Orleans last week.
To where you out with this whole thing? We'll tell you what if I'm not worried about it.
Our live chat absolutely is.
It took me a minute there. Get going.
It crashed a few times on us.
But I'm already seeing Esteban Cervantes from YouTube saying Trade Kuzma.
Outspoken thoughts on YouTube saying trade Kuzma Dudley and deadly for Jae Crowder.
Um, I've gotta throw it down.
My dad's charming in with that one.
Hey, something we do need to get to after we talk.
Koosman robbed 2 11 says Trevor.
Give Vogel some love for his rotation, So try to remind me after this Koosman discussion.
We need to get into that.
But yeah, look, I agree.
This this Koosman thing it's concerning, but at the same time, Jazz.
I want you to talk trash on Kyle Kuzma because remember talking on KCP.
And then he turned it around and he loved, like, five games in a row where he was just scorching.
It's gonna I have not given up on Kyle Kuzma.
Yes, it's not pretty.
We even saw him shoot a layup KCP style in this one.
He didn't hit the rim on a layup, right? He is all out of sorts.
Maybe he's one of the guys who was sick.
We're not sure he did tweak his ankle the other day.
There's a lot of things that you can look to, but whatever it is, he doesn't look right.
He looks out of sorts on offense.
Defensively, he's turning his head.
In fact, the Denver Nuggets specifically ran a play today that didn't even move a screen being set on Kuzma.
That was a backdoor cut because they knew Cosmo was slow to react, and sure enough, they got a dunk on it.
So Kuzma is struggling on both ends of the floor at the moment, but I still have faith.
I think that he is still gonna be a good player for the Lakers.
Just maybe it takes a little bit of time.
And maybe Josh, just all that needs to happen is you need to trash talk a little bit.
You know, I don't.
Okay? I'm not gonna trash talk like I do like who's my game? And I think he's a much better player than that.
KCP But if you look at it, I mean, since November 19th he had two games of 10 points, one with 16 other that 55 and four on.
What do you have tonight? Six.
I believe you finished with tonight as well.
And we've talked about this how important he was going to be, especially in a seven game series where you don't have any ball handlers.
You don't have many guys out there who could fill it up coming off the bench.
And we've talked about them before.
Guys like Lou Williams, guys that want tries Harold down low, we're capable of doing it up with 20 points every night.
the only guy who has that capability off the Lakersbench to do it consistently is Kyle Kuzma.
And so for us, we're looking at him saying Okay, you know what? Given that he missed about a couple months there with the injury from Team USA in the summer.
So he was he was slowed.
Thio get caught up to speed and figuring things out. OK, fine.
We're gonna give you the benefit of the doubt to me.
I'm looking at it like does his game match what the Lakers run offensively? The Lakers don't run a lot of don't run a lot of plays overall, it's more like, Hey, we're gonna try and work the ball and get the world of LeBron and 80 and feed off of that and kind of read and cut and it almost read and react offense.
And for me, I think Koosman is a guy where you don't want him trying to break a guy down off the dribble.
That's that's on his game, he said. He's a cutter.
He can he can come off screens and and get some shots, But if that's not working for him in the coaches and running that system where the points gonna come from.
And so for me, that's something want to keep an eye on.
Like I said, I'll give him the benefit of the doubt of giving him a month or two, you know, about a month and 1/2 2 months to get caught up.
But until we start seeing it consistently, I don't know how much he is offensively for what the team does.
Yeah, I mean, look, the points have got to come as a spot up shooter, right? I mean, that's that we're going to see from him is hitting those open threes when teams were paying too much attention to LeBron and 80 and also as a cutter, And I think really, that's that's what you want.
I don't think you want to throw the ball to Cosmo on the wing and say here, go make something happen. I don't know.
I think he can do that in spurts.
But I don't know if you want him doing that all the time, but But you're right.
They're not running a lot of plays for him.
They're not trying to create things that and right now, frankly, they don't have time for that, they don't have time to lay.
Let's get Kyle Kuzma going.
Let's get him figured out.
They have to win games right now.
It's important that they are able to pick up these winds.
And if Cosmo doesn't have it going, that means that somebody else is going to be stepping up tonight.
It was Dwight Howard.
Troy Daniels hit some big shots.
So you don't really have a whole lot of time to kind of force feed Kyle Kuzma.
You can't spend a few games getting him going.
Even if it costs.
You wins right now.
It's gonna be Hey, it's gonna be up to Koosman to kind of catch up at some point, and I still think he can, But, yeah, it's gonna take some work and hopefully I feel like part of it is confidence.
Just and that's just my session assessment of body language out there on the floor, which is something that he's never really lacked in.
So I have to think that he's gonna have one of these games where he's going to see the ball go through the net 56 times and that's gonna get him going.
It's like that's gonna just kind of wake him up and then we're going to see the same old Koosman again.
Yeah, And you mentioned his struggles today a little bit.
And then you saw a different line up at the end and you mentioned you want to get back with a comment or ask about Frank Mobile And you said that to like, the job he's doing.
He's not sitting there saying All right, we're gonna go with LeBron e d.
You know Kyle Kuzma, whoever else on the court like that's the guys I'm gonna finish with.
He's like, Yo, if you're not playing well, I'm putting your butt to the bench and you're not gonna come back out there whose monthly? 19 minutes today and you're looking at Caruso got 16 and he was out there towards the end.
So for me, I love the fact that Frank was like, Listen, we know LeBron and 80 and most likely so far I mean, Danny Green are gonna be on the floor at the end of close games, but the other two spots it just up to whoever is playing better.
Whether that's waiting, they have a big men, whether that's Kyle Ku's money, He's going or it's Alex Caruso or Rondo.
So for me, I love the fact that he hasn't been married to a five man lineup that ends the game every single time.
Well, let me tell you, I mean, it may not even be Danny Green.
It's I think Alex Caruso is kind of you.
Certainly played a role a little bit at the end of games.
Crusoe found out this game.
I think otherwise he would have gotten more minutes.
And it's surprising, actually.
Just wrote all about how good Alex Caruso wasn't defending without fouling.
And, of course, now he goes in.
But you know what? Look, Caruso has been tremendous on the defensive end.
I actually just look up, looked up the stats.
It was before this game, so these may have shifted just a little bit.
But before the game, out of players who have appeared at least 15 games just to kind of remove some of the noise out there in the guys who have appeared a bit at least 15 games, Alex Caruso is number four among all guards in defensive rating, number four in the entire n B A.
I'm not talking about on the Lakers.
He had the best defensive rating on the Lakers, but number four in the whole league among guards.
I mean, he has been tremendous defensively, and Danny Green ranks 22nd right now.
KCP is somewhere in the mid forties, right? So Caruso has been been far away, the better defender out of that group.
So on credit to Vogel, he's been recognizing those things.
That's where we started this conversation on the reigning coach of the month now Frank Vogel.
He has been making some smart rotations, and he's not locked into him.
And we've talked about this on here before about how Luke Walton would have been always just locked into his rotation and it would have been okay.
This was my game plan going in.
This guy's hot, but you know what my game plan says? I'm supposed to make this sub right now, so here it is, whereas Vogel is adjusting on the fly.
Look, we saw Rondo closing out the game because Hey, Rondo had a phenomenal game.
I thought he had played excellent, excellent play for it from Rondo.
Vote will recognize that and kept him in there.
That's a huge credit to Frank Vogel and the way he's coach this team.
He has that flexibility, is a coach and thus created the flexibility in his lineup to go ahead and play the guys that are finding success.
And I think that's and I think part of that is indicative of the roster.
Well, you don't have certain guys that, you know, especially from that, you know, 6 to 10 where you look at the bench at the tepes guys that you're like, all right? You know what? This guy's good or not? You thought Koosman would be that before the season started? We haven't seen any of that, you know what I mean? We haven't seen it on a consistent basis, So I love the fact.
Like you said, Frank was like, All right, whoever's playing well, you're gonna get the plane.
We've seen games where Troy Daniels got a DNP CD.
Quinn Cook might play might not play.
I mean, recently, the trend has been using getting on much minutes in close games.
You look at Rondo some night.
She's playing 11 12 minutes.
Today you pay 25 so to me, that's a testament to almost how you better be in the new N.
I don't think you can just sit there and say, This is our game plan and we're gonna try and do this and harp on that for 48 minutes, adjusting on the fly, knowing that some teams get hot from three point line, you're gonna have somebody unexpected, maybe go off and hit 453 So the fact that he's been willing to do that, I think it's a testament to what he said he learned on his year away from basketball, which is just trying to figure out and modernizing it and adapt to the new game.
That's a great point.
Vogel has really proven what he said he had.
He had learned what he said he had figured out in his time away.
He's been really, really impressive.
It's a credit to him and credit to his coaching staff.
And you know what? Look, all the talk heading into the season was Ah, watch out, Jason Kid's going to be taking his job right now.
Not if this continues of what we're seeing.
The quality on the floor continues.
Nobody's thinking away.
Frank Vogel's job.
No, it's nice that we haven't even talked about Jason Kidd running his coup tell.
You know, we were a month and 1/2 into this season that basically and there's no good, no rumors of juice.
So thank God we're rolling with that so far right now, Jason Jason Kidd is like secretly muttering under his breath.
Every time the Lakers win, right? I would have been my chance.
No, it seemed like a kid and Vogel, really on the same page, which is which is great to see.
It's something that's been been really, really good coaching staff.
I've been super impressed with them.
And you know what? Let me throw this out there to jazz.
We talked about how the offense a lot of it is just here.
LeBron, go create something a d go create something.
And that's true to, ah, to an extent.
But I think we're starting to see new wrinkles.
I saw a play tonight, which was really impressive, so Troy Daniels had had it going from deep.
He had hit some shots early, and so they ran to play.
It was a screen role that involved a D and Miles Plumlee was was defending a D, and I think it was Rondo with the ball.
And they had Troy Daniels going set a back screen on Miles Plumlee or Mason, whichever one of the plum lease it was said.
Set the black the back screen on him.
So that and then pop out after that.
So 80 was rolling to the rim, got the lob.
But even if the Nuggets had sniffed that out and tried to stop a D, you were going to get an open three for Troy Daniels.
Just ah, beautifully designed play and I looked at I want Gosh, that's That's the kind of intricate play that we haven't seen the Lakers run in a while, and it's really promising to see that kind of stuff starting to pop up in their offensive sets.
Yeah, they got to get more comfortable in the coaching staffs.
Gotta know where guys are at their best.
Now, you look at the ****ytics department now they're gonna take out okay, this guy's hitting shots from here.
This guy's more consistent when he's taken jumpers from this side of the floor, so I think, as they get more used to that, I still think the Lakers are gonna be more of a read and react offense than anything else.
But you wanna have four? Like And this was a completely had about Luke last year.
What the hell are you doing on offense? Just standing around doing nothing, and we would wish to see that.
Okay, they have horrify plays in their back pocket that they're like, at the very least, we know we're gonna get an open shot out of this, right? And so you want to see the team be able to do that? Like you mentioned that specific plate? That's a great sign from Frank Bogo that All right, we're gonna start putting in some different sets here.
That may be for team.
Start to slow down a little bit or we need a bucket.
We know we're gonna get a good look out of this out of this.
Empty is that we have. Yeah, it was great.
Especially that he he specifically picked Troy Daniels to be the screen center because he had already knocked in a few shots.
And because he knew the Nuggets, We're gonna have to stay glued to him. Brilliant.
Uh, I've got a great comment here.
Her chest from YouTube.
Where is Alan? Sleep a day off the show? Yeah.
What right? Island Stand by the way.
Allen's of Mars.
He's wonderful, but you're on the wrong showcases.
This isn't we appreciate it.
We appreciate it.
It is over on on Lakers talk on ESPN.
We'll take Alan salary, but hey, baby, take from it.
Roberts. Kyle says Caruso dunk.
You know, we have to hear you talk about a tribe.
That Caruso dunk was just was everything.
That was all the Alex Caruso Mihm's all just personified in one play that that was amazing.
He dumped all over Denver.
In fact, he dunked on Dwight Howard in on that one.
But those are the kinds of surprise plays where Crusoe just comes out of nowhere.
It's like at this point, he's done enough times where we kind of anticipated, but it still catches you by surprise because you just he's so sneaky about it.
Listen, any time we just call it what it is any time a little white guy gets up like that puts down a done, it's gonna drive any teams fan base crazy.
So it's fun to see.
Actually saw a tweet saying that when when Caruso gets a dunk in a game, the Lakers or six and one.
So, yeah, if you could do that another 50 times during this season, I think will be who will be sitting pretty by the end of it.
That holds true.
The Lakers need to run like 10 plays in a row, whatever it takes to get it, and then they know that they probably gonna win that game.
They're gonna win the game.
C from Facebook said, missing Avery Bradley, who we know is going to be reevaluated when the Lakers get back from the road trip.
So Friday they take on the Portland Trail Blazers.
Then they'll return.
Bradley will get re evaluated.
We know he's starting some on court progression, so he's starting to go through some workouts and things.
Maybe he can return after that, But you mentioned they're missing.
I threw out the defensive readings earlier.
Avery Bradley is in.
I was in the top eight by the way.
Yeah, and it doesn't quite hit that 15 game mark that I was throwing out there because he's been hurt.
But if you were to remove that, Bradley's in the top eight.
So when you have Caruso knew of Avery Bradley, you've got to top 10 defensive players from the guard position that you can throw out there.
And that's something that's been huge for the Lakers defense.
I thought today they played great defensively, had no issues there.
But I do think there's another level they can hit when Avery Bradley comes back.
I think that that's what kind of the key that he brings brings the team as well.
And you look at it A Z mentioned.
You know what? KCP for all the flak I gave him for how he's doing offensively the entire season, other than getting his Ah, I don't want to say it, but you know what? I'm not gonna use that same, but get undressed lets a few times by Kawai Leonard.
He's been **** good defensively.
He's been really, really good, so that almost gives you another option to bring him, put him back to the bench and leave Avery Bradley in there.
So that gives you some more defensive death coming off the bench as well.
Not just Alex Caruso in terms of having a high percentage guy out there to protect its own basket.
You know, I sure hope that the confidence we've seen out of KCP and by the way, KCB had kind of a quiet game tonight.
I thought he did have one nice a two man play with JaVale McGee, some quick passing back and forth that led to a veil.
McGee dunk but K C P over three from three tonight, two of five shooting, three assists, three steals, three rebounds, four points.
Hey, didn't do anything to really hurt the team out there out there today.
Just wasn't a big explosion game.
Remember anything? But I hope the confidence that he's developed over the last couple of weeks a starter sticks with him.
Eventually, we think maybe get moved back to the bench.
Uh, when Avery Bradley does come back, what do you think? How do you think he will? Do you think you'll be able to carry this over? Do you think a single right back to the 1st 10 game KCP that we saw this season.
I think at some point we're going to see a slump out of KCP cause that's KCP.
That's that's That's kind of what he does.
But But I sure hope that that it can carry over because, you know he's at this point, right? Casey, Pia believe, 26 he should.
He should be pretty consistent at this stage in his career.
We should see a little bit more consistencies in My hope is that if he does move to the bench to make way for Avery Bradley, that he does kind of keep that that momentum that he's developed right here.
Um, let's dive into a few more of these of these questions.
I got some interesting ones here.
Okay, Some good was a few people asking me, though, about Taelon Horton Tucker.
That one seems to come up every show from YouTube.
Karina for each said, Hey, Trevor, what about Taylor? Horton? Tucker? Julie, we've talked about it.
Super Young should be staying in the D League if he said if he does get minutes, great, but I'm not expecting it this season.
Yeah, I'm not expecting you, but he's looking pretty good.
I mean, again, a little bit of inconsistency for him, but he's been He's been pretty **** good, especially for what you get a of a second round pick.
But yeah, I mean, let him let him get better. Let him develop.
We heard this complaint had this comment last year a lot from people saying Bongo, bring him up and whatever.
The G Week is a way, way different piece in the n B A.
So let this guy's so young.
Let him develop.
You didn't have a huge pedigree coming out of college.
And if he's able to be a contributor and at least a rotation player next Steven and beyond for the Lakers, that's a win for the organization.
But right now, I wouldn't rush it with anybody who's playing the juvie, especially your team sitting at 18 and three.
If they were sitting at 11 and 10 and you're like that, we need to shake things up, maybe do it for a game or two and see what happens.
Okay, but at 83 I would mess with it too much right now.
Yeah, and just copy and paste that answer for questions about Zack Norvell about devante **** about onto Taku Poko sticks, Of course.
Any of the value of seemingly honest I'm sure maybe we could swing that.
Just just theon Citigroup.
Oh, Jersey, right e.
No one will know this.
Hey, here's something we need to talk about.
Dwight Howard to be to Derm.
Determine productions from YouTube says Are the refs picking on Dwight? I feel like every game he's getting a foul call the moment he touches the floor, I've noticed in ticky tack fouls going against White.
And then when I threw that out there on Twitter Greg, Burma Bergmann, our other friend from from ESPN responded and saying that that Dwight could get called for a foul pretty much every single play, but that he kind of gets away with with a lot of them.
So that was a little bit surprising to me, because I missed a lot of those Dwight fouls.
First of all, I thought he had a great game.
I thought this was a game in a couple of weeks, but what do you think about the foul situation with Dwight Howard.
I feel like he gets picked on a little bit, but I guess others see see it a little differently.
Well, I don't I don't think like it's picked on it all.
I think you might get a ticky tack foul purpose.
You saw Caruso get a ticky tack foul toe fellow today, you're gonna get those Indian deal.
Dwight Howard is a lot of little dirty things, and he's physical down low, which is great.
I'm not complaining about it, but you'll notice even on rebounds, using these linking arms and putting it in and try to keep the guy down like that.
Uh, he's also when he's running into somebody's boxing about or has the kind of the the front of the basket sealed off, you'll run in with a low elbow or knee into the guide.
But so he said, Yeah, I mean, he goes, but that's part of being aggressive.
I mean, I'm not a part of being aggressive, and he knows.
Look, I'm not gonna expect to be played 35 minutes a night.
I've got to go out there if I want to be on this team.
Let's not forget that have that early January deadline as well that they can cut his ass if they want to.
So they're gonna look at it and say, Hey, I gotta go out there and play hard.
So I think that the Fowler's are coming from actually playing hard and and being aggressive, not from being picked on at anything but by the league.
Because if you look at the way he goes for rebounds, compared to guys like JaVale and even Anthony Davis, to a certain extent, Dwight Howard is way more aggressive, going, going for put backs and and rebounds.
And those guys are Yeah, for sure.
In fact, I think it was very telling that the Denver announced crew as they were getting into crunch time, they were discussing on air about whether or not the Nuggets should try to get Dwight Howard another Fowler, too, so that the Lakers would have to put JaVale McGee back in because they have a much better job.
I think that's a credit to just how good Dwight Howard has has been as ridiculous as that conversation Waas Oh yeah, that's what happens when you're listening.
It's funny You know, even before the game, you can hear the crowd was kind of getting ready just before tip on it.
And I thought the same thing we talked about before to him.
Like our Nuggets fans looking at it like the Lakers are a rival to how many teams in the West look at it like the Lakers are our biggest rival, right? Yeah.
It's okay, guys.
We're gonna get all hyped up for it.
So you always notice empty opposing teams announcing crew are always a little bit more of a pool and a little bit more picking on little things about the Lakers.
And so it's always funny to see that stuff.
Yeah, they definitely where they mentioned a few times.
This is the place to be in Colorado tonight.
This is this This is the big ticket in town.
All these because the Lakers were in town.
That's that's how many big tickets.
How many big tickets are there gonna be in Colorado? Let's be honest about that, Okay? Yeah, I'm no night tonight. I meant tonight.
Tonight, and I want to think Of course, it's a big ticket.
Yeah, You know the Lakers? Uh, Jess So I hope you're up on all your numbers and all your stats, because I've got a really in depth question that we need to get into here.
Just okay from YouTube.
Trevor, Should Caruso shave his head? Yes.
Yes. No, I'm gonna say yes.
Why? Why? It's better with it.
Better with the hair that he is without their You're saying why? Why? Yes, Because it looks better.
That's why it looks more menacing.
Use fighting a losing battle.
I'm trying to get the M book on my head here too.
So I understand a bit of a struggle.
But if I'm Alice first shave that off, man.
You're a basketball player in the n b A.
And have a shape that no matter what, it just looks better.
You look the part, you looking for me, and it makes him a little bit more like Captain America to me.
Well, I'll give you that.
But look, if Anthony Davis can get away with the brow, can't Alex Caruso get away with the with the balding right with the Trevor with the half cover lane? Is that Is that what you think is going on? I confirmed with that, I would like that way.
Say, I gotta keep the head shape.
If I If I was Caruso What? You would prefer to keep it.
My fear is that somehow Caruso's hair has some sort of, like Samson s powers ever.
Like like suddenly he shaves his head.
And no more tip dunks or something like that.
That would be my concern.
Well, next time you're in the locker room doing an interview, ask him to say, What do you think? You better with it with the shape? Better without it.
We'll see what is responsible.
I'll definitely Hey, hey, Alex.
Your hair colors? Yeah, Going into going into Game one of the Western Conference finals.
I'm sure that really appreciate that.
I never get back again.
They will just know.
They they will kick me with actual get revoked at that point, man.
That's it. They won't take me out.
Yeah, that that'll happen.
Uh, let me dive into Ah, A few more of these of these questions here, huh? Few people saying block anyone that says to trade Caruso.
I thought that was kind of, you know.
Ah, given Well, who said there are people suggesting that, you know, I think somebody mocha back may have thrown it out there, but yeah.
Okay, here's Jeremy Jazz win.
Ski from YouTube.
Says how did LeBron do so LeBron James his game tonight? I thought he did.
I mean, this was a pretty normal LeBron appearance.
He was dominant, did everything the Lakers needed him to do.
Scored when they needed to score, got to the basket, set guys up maybe a little bit careless with a few passes.
Well, then, that I thought this was a great performance from LeBron.
I think so, too.
I think he he did what he had to do.
Set the offense.
I always say there's two with LeBron James and Anthony Davis, maybe more.
Anthony Davis and LeBron James is they're at their best when they're able to get to the hoop and kill their guys.
I mean, they were combined 12 for 15 from the free throw line today, Um, and that's what opens up the rest of the offense for the guys that I noticed.
This isn't a complaint.
When they take the open three you got to take it.
You know what I mean? You're a decent three point shooter.
Of course you're not gonna hesitate.
But it's when they, when they almost settle for those jumpers on like a D did that.
They close there at the end of the fourth quarter, where the Nuggets got back into it a little bit.
They give the ball a B, was basically alone, opposed turn instead of trying to take your kids to the whole eighties, much more athletic, that the Joker is but settled for just a pull up jumper.
So even same thing with LeBron and I'm not saying they're plain bad because they're playing awesome so far this season.
Understand? There's one thing I'd like to see both of them improve on is dude, not many guys in the league and stop you coming at them either 80 from the post or LeBron from the top of the key here from the wing.
So if they can be more aggressive, But Jimmy I was just another day at the office with LeBron James.
We usually pump him up when he scores 35 has a triple double 25 points, nine times six Board that you're just like, Well, he was Okay.
Look, LeBron James, today, where is for other guys in the big Wow.
What a night last night. Paul. George.
Oh, you had to go, Paul.
Hey, that's like That's like LeBron rolled out of bed and got those stats, right? I mean, that's that's That's what it has become the norm at this point.
Uh, no, man, we've got the Does Anthony Davis look happy to you? Question popping up again? I'm not gonna answer could justify it any way He's sick.
Like he was one of the guys who was, but he could even go to shoot around because he's got the flu he got.
I saw that Frank Vogel mentioned after the game that he actually had to get Ivy at the halftime and came out and still played. So he was six.
So did he look? Did he look happy? I don't know, but the guy's sick.
Or do you? How do you look when you're happier? You are when you're sick, or you said they're walking around with this big smile on your face, so miserable like I just want to get this game done.
Win it, go home, get some rest, gets influence of me.
I think if anything, maybe you looked upset about anything, It was Oh, my gosh, I'm so sick.
I think that's that's about a Got a question here from, uh Well, sorry.
It's going by faster.
Well, a bunch of people have been asking.
Here we go. Just found it again.
Onyx emcee on Facebook I think the Joker's luck ran out.
A lot of people have last about Nikolay Yokich.
What's the deal with him? Bank is he does not look right.
Same guy that we saw last season.
Look credit to Anthony Davis for the defense is that he played.
But that doesn't look like the same yoke it's that we were used to.
That's, um, yeah, I wonder what's really going on there.
He His athleticism, which was never great looks, looks worse than I thought.
I remembered it.
He doesn't look like he's in great shape.
If you were the Nuggets are would you be worried right now about Yokich? Well, I would try and strap him to a treadmill as much as they can and say, Get in shape and started eating healthier.
No, I'm serious.
I mean, like, he look, I remember to resume shooting free throws at one point today.
And I saw the camera.
I was looking at his body, you know, just like yeah, he looks like he's way in way worse shape than he was last season.
And so if I'm the Nuggets, I'm looking at it and saying I don't know what the hell this guy did in the off season.
I don't know what he was eating if he was trading or not.
To me, it's just the land he has no whipped like the way he was last year.
I'm not saying he was. He was ever big athlete.
You consider coming crime it on your face or anything like that? No, but those nn plays were Anthony Davis blocking once and and made him take a real tough shot.
The second time, it was like he had no lift coming up whatsoever.
So to me to do just not in proper game shape right now to be competing, he has the skill set that he can still pass the ball well and and and, you know, read the game right.
But in terms of being in shape and kind of having being at his best for what he does, I just not seen that from them so far.
Yeah, I mean, look, he's not the kind of guy that can play his way into game shape and still be as effective, right? I mean, like, Shaq used to show up someone out of shape most seasons, right? He would play his way into shape, but he was so **** explosive.
It didn't matter that much.
Like, you mean it mattered.
But he was still incredibly effective and impossible to stop, even when he had a little bit of extra weight on him.
Because he's shack right, and he's just that level of athlete that's not yoga.
She can't come in and play his way into game shape.
End up putting up 13 points on four of 12 shooting, five boards, eight assists, three steals.
There were a few times where he looked exasperated with having Anthony Davis defendant because he knew he couldn't he couldn't get his shots up against him and look at me again, crediting Anthony Davis.
But, yeah, that's that's not a great look for yoga.
I don't think he'll be better as the months go on and as he gets back into shape, because that will happen over time. Just naturally.
But for right now, not not a great look to start the season out like this.
Well, depends on what he's eating after the game.
So we'll see if it means getting in shape.
We could say he's practicing it.
He's he's playing every day.
But if he's eating pizza and five chicken in between, they're gonna make a difference.
I'm gonna call some some what? Some door dash or something like that.
I'm gonna order form and send it straight to the look.
Yeah, you go, Nicholas, don't you Don't You don't ask where it's from or anything.
Just here you go.
Go ahead of our big man.
So a lot of people are talking about the Lakers.
Big test is coming on Christmas and all that.
I think this was a big test for them and used as being attached to even with no Mike Conley.
Second night of a back to back to Utah on the road.
That's gonna be a test.
This whole month is going to be a test for them.
So far, they had one bad performance against the Dallas Mavericks, one good informants against the Denver Nuggets.
And one thing that I do want to rot here.
Denver shot 21% from three for the game and not I can't say all of that was the Lakers defense, right? There were.
No, they just missed open shots.
Yeah, that's the thing.
I mean, you saw that run that they had on the third quarter.
I think they started out six for six or 7% or something like that to get back into the game and the shots were going on, and then they just weren't falling for him.
So, uh, again, I'm gonna give the Lakers some credit because I thought they protected the paint pretty well.
I thought that was a good job of rotating and trying to get out to contest threes, but again, I mean, you do have to give the Lakers credit for holding a team like the Nuggets to 96 points over on that.
That's a testament to how good they were defensively.
Sure, Yeah, they were.
You look and don't get me wrong.
Overall, they were excellent defensively, but I didn't see them fix the problem that they had when they played the Mavs, where they were giving up a bunch of open threes by by diving into paint too much over protecting the paint.
And so we saw that problem still pop up.
But the Nuggets just missed some open threes, and so that helped them in this one.
So that's something that I'm gonna be watching.
Moving forward is what can they do to, if not totally eliminate those open looks.
But but try to cut down on them without sacrificing too much of your of your paint defense.
It's gonna be interesting to see how Vogel kind of balances that.
Yeah, I didn't think it depends on the opponent as well.
And then we talked about how much Frank has been able to do that is adjusting to who they're playing.
And we look at the schedule coming up.
Now I think to me this was the biggest test.
Tomorrow I'll even give the Lakers have passed it to lose by 20.
I'm not expecting them to, but I think, you know, going into Utah, the back, the back against a pretty **** tough team that's getting better lately.
I think that's a tough one.
Then you like you said you got a pretty good stretch of games or eagle.
OK, December 14.
But then you got at Miami that, you know, the heater playing real well.
And then you have the bucks on in Milwaukee on December 19.
That, to me, is the toughest game that they're gonna have even until the end of the year.
Now, yeah, that's gonna be That's gonna be a big one.
And then, of course, you've got the big match up with the Clippers.
So there are some big games and, yeah, you're right in Milwaukee that I mean, Yonas versus the Lakers, and that's gonna be a big one.
Okay, they've got a ton of tests coming up, so we're gonna find out it's a lot about this team between now and the end of December.
Oh, for sure, for sure.
And I'm looking forward to those two games are circled in my calendar because if you're looking at There's 12 more games left in the month of Lakers again.
I mean, I'm expected to go eat before nine and three here and be sitting pretty going into the new year.
I would like it.
I would certainly take that if they can finish with that kind of record in this month.
All right? Jazz, uh, final thoughts, anything that you want to close with.
You know what? Overall, I would just really, really impressed with the fact that they came out and, you know, they had that.
Like I said, that little first half of the third quarter where they didn't look back great, look like Denver might be able to come back and going to seize control the game.
But, uh, after how they played against Dallas coming in and saying, We don't have to game losing streak this season, that's what we're trying to aim for.
They corrected a lot of those mistakes and they got the team effort.
I think if the Lakers bench and you're not expecting guys to come in and score 20 all the guys that are playing contribute somewhere between six and 12 points coming off the bench, you're gonna be sitting pretty good at the end of it with Anthony Davis and LeBron James.
So to me, this was close to the most complete game.
I've seen that the squad play all season.
What about you? Yeah, I agree.
I thought this was pretty darn close to being the from beginning to end.
I don't think it was was there.
They didn't play a complete game yet, but it was pretty darn close.
I thought overall, this was a very impressive performance from them.
Given everything else going out going off on the perimeter when you're talking about being sick, being on the road, playing at altitude, a Denver team that just lost to the King's, which they were going to be fired up and motivated after that, all the attention that's on this game within within Denver.
All of those things seem to be going against the Lakers and they still manage to come in and get a win.
So I was incredibly impressed.
I still said, You know, if they finish this road trip, this three game road trip two and three, I'd be ecstatic.
I'm extremely happy with that.
Fits one and three, I could see it happening.
Look, tomorrow at Utah that's gonna be a tough game in Portland is always difficult if they go three and three.
I mean, then then A pretty much erases that terrible performance against the Dallas Mavericks, because because they'll have really proven something if they can pull that off.
Well, look at the dance back.
Last time they lost the Raptor.
A real block 10 in a row.
So we'll see if that mad blocks propels into something similar.
That going going into the rest of the month now? Yeah, sure would be great.
