well back into We got Nets podcast coming to you with a just a brief post game wrap up a little bit after the earlier match up here is I get my last button button there.
Just want to take a look at what we heard in the postgame coverage.
A couple of quotes.
Focus in on Joe Harris and then on coach Kenny Atkinson, highlighting a couple of the things that they looked at when talking about these games and what they felt like you could you could take away from it.
Um, we'll go first with Jo.
Hair is pretty much expectation.
We come out of this game is a game against a tough opponent.
I don't think that you're necessarily looking anywhere else.
UH, is for where blame should be.
Going around met with questions about how they did, you know, played pretty well.
A few possessions got away from us.
They pointed to the up up seven within 1 45 left to go.
It had a good look at three on that inbounds play coming in from the timeout, certainly something that'll be seen from the Brooklyn Nets.
Kenny Atkinson has always done a nice job trying Thio, walk up those opportunities and get people go Look, ultimately, it doesn't fall.
Said that he also thought the did what He had some good looks around the basket and those don't go for you.
Ultimately, it's a better job of executing.
Certainly you can point to the 1 45 and being of seven.
You'd like to more often than not win those matchups.
But that being said, you still step away and say, This is a quality game against the quality opponents, So I've always appreciated away.
Certainly this season, more than years past on Joe Harris seems to be front center for some of these questions.
He does a nice job answering them.
I don't think it was too much to say.
Outside of If you've got that look nine times out of 10 you know why we're seven out of 10.
You think Joe Harris is gonna knock down that three ball out of the time out? Could certainly play a factor down the stretch.
And then you talk about some of the fouls there against Jimmy Butler, the other side of it to focus on here for the for the Nets and this one is going to be patched.
Sorry, Patrick, Kenny Atkinson said.
Opportunities, tons of opportunities here to kind of close this game out.
A bit of a see saw game, some of the terms used there in the post game press conference.
Ah, I don't think they asked about about overusing Spencer doing relying on him too much.
Um, but basically what it comes down to is, he says it doesn't think they'd be in the game if the money isn't doing what he's doing.
So certainly, you're playing a hot hand.
He's had success throughout.
The game had success over this run.
Ah, and I think maybe, without mentioning Kenny Atkinson is also tipping his hat to the idea that you are talking about a team without Kyrie Irving without Caris.
They don't have a ton of options when it talks about it.
So, you know, Spencer, dead body is both.
The hot hand has certainly come into his own a lot of ways over this stretch.
But ultimately, you are still talking about the focal point of this offense and what it has to run through until you get least Kyrie back on the floor.
Um you know, they talked about as well looking at some of these play calls.
One of the questions that he was asked was, How do you look at execution over those last couple of minutes? Again Up seven and you end up coming out on the losing end of this one.
Kenny Atkinson, not not frustrated Lee, but said, Give me a scenario and I'll tell you if it was a good or bad thing you're talking about.
You know, the Joe Harris timeout play getting that three.
Well, it's just a miss again.
We think we run that play more often than not, Joe was gonna get that ball and put it through the bucket for you.
Then they talk about that.
Step back three certainly felt as though that's just a play where Jimmy Butler veteran and game comes in.
You know, he really starts to find his offensive rhythm there, and he feels like it's solid defense, and it's just a better play from Butler on that one.
Did I also mention coming over and the foul that was taken there thought that I think is maybe Nawab on that one, where you could probably let Alan stick and try to play the defense there on his own as opposed.
Thio coming over the net, committing a foul trying to help out, but ultimately result in.
Maybe, you know, over over trying to overcompensate there defensively leads descending.
Ah, Butler to the line.
What was one of, AH number of trips there in the fourth quarter and close out of this one again highlighted great defense on the three point play and then just better execution.
He also they talked about some of the looks that they were getting.
Thinks that Spencer did when he's done, ah, phenomenal job in terms of executing in and around those double teams.
Blitz them a couple of times down the stretch.
Got some open looks earlier in the fourth quarter.
Joe Harris, connecting on a couple so found some good feeds, and they think they really spoke highly about Spencer de Monte.
He thinks he's taking just leaps and bounds in terms of getting to a place where he's seeing those blitzes come Adam and is making the correct call more often than not finding the open shooter we're finding.
At least you know, a teammate to spread that ball back out and get yourself a reset on the offense, and I think is you start to move through playing at this high level.
More opportunity, certainly for Spencer DiMucci now is getting some better looks.
The more that he's showing he can play, you know, consistently.
I think Brooklyn Nets fans would say that they've known this about him.
But the more that he's playing consistent throughout this stretch of games is the more than opposition and coaching staffs are gonna look at him and try to find ways to beat him.
Certainly, and what we are seeing is that Kenny Atkinson has done a nice job, right? He's adjusting.
He's learning from what's happening, learning for the defense is trying to do to him and then, you know, in some of these spots have to realize, too.
It is about developing trust with your teammates.
Not that he doesn't have it in them who just understanding.
You need to find that trust.
Need to think that you're going to be able to kick that ball outside and have your guys knock down those shots for you.
As I think you know that he will, um, one of the other things, too.
They talked about Kenny Atkinson.
Certainly spoke to in this one.
Was the rebounds thought in the first half that got beat up a little bit on the offensive glass or the defense of glass from their perspective.
Some second chance opportunities? We highlighted that the halftime off this one as well.
And then you think about in that second half while well, Kenny Kenny certainly said that They thought they played that better.
He felt like six.
Maybe Key big rebounds.
We highlighted these during the game.
Leonard got a quick grab in there.
I think Winslow came up with one, uh, auto.
Bayo obviously had another one in there as well.
So you know, there's just some opportunities there where I think you're talking about weakside assignments.
Certainly I thought that Jared Allen was battling in this one, but also, you find himself getting a little dinged up there with the thumb.
No information yet about that will come back in and take a look at him tomorrow as well.
Go ahead with our Monday morning kind of, you know, state of the franchise in terms of injuries, because we want to get some information about Kyrie Irving as well, but not anticipating those rate now following this post game wrap up.
So you know, Listen, I I don't think we wrap this game up on the post game.
Basically, speaking to the fact that this was a tough matchup against a good team, I think that Kenny certainly points to staying more physical.
Watching those assignments, not over committing, trusting your teammates to make the right play defensively may be living with the results if a player is going to get that bucket.
We highlighted that during the game trying to play a strong defense and not over commit, you know, will allow if it's going to be a bucket.
It's going to be a bucket and kind of being more selective when it comes to the right time to foul of versus maybe just trying to make that play and again, over pursuing a little bit.
I wouldn't point to that.
Didn't would he play against Butler on the baseline? I think that was a foul on.
I don't think he tried to overdo it.
I just think that if then what he was able to keep his balance and knock a little bit forward on that ends up being a very nice defensive play.
You could even think back to that game against the, uh, was the Chicago Bulls.
Sorry, Cavaliers against *** in their late in that game.
Shot clock. Keeps his feet, gets his hand extended.
Gets a nice block there.
So you feel like doing what he has already shown that on this last stretch of games that he has ability to play smart defense.
And then you're talking about, ah, young player on Cleveland versus taking a look at a guy like Jimmy Butler that is a veteran that knows howto work inside.
And certainly this is, ah, perfect example of why the Miami he brought him in their veteran presence.
And you really didn't see this going back to If you've listened to the we got next podcast.
Doug, Nora and I were talking about this.
You look at a guy like Jimmy Butler after his time in Minnesota, you thought, Man, what a mistake the Sixers are making.
He ends up coming in, being a veteran presence, galvanizing that team and helping them in that playoff in that playoff series, certainly against the Nets last year, ultimately doesn't lead to what the biggest goal was there.
He doesn't come back to that team, but he certainly, I think, rehabilitated just the well and again public perception, right? We're highlighting about the Kyrie news in terms of how things looked after that second game at home at the Barclay Center.
All the players for Boston came over giving him, giving him hugs, talking to him, sincere conversations between him and other players.
So probably a bit of that.
Media, media speculation and conversation driving more of these narratives that maybe we could speak Thio and, you know, down in Miami is certainly Butler's done a nice job for himself.
There gives a veteran presence, and then leading games is a guy that they trust with the ball in his hand to make the right.
Please gets to the line several times with opportunities at the free throw line, pulls up on that on that little jumper there off the baseline, gets a foul call and also knocks down that step back. Three.
So, you know, just stronger execution.
Is there not a ton that you can read? And beyond this, I don't think that it is just lip service from Kenny Atkinson.
I think that he's thrown a job of being, Ah, very open, very honest when it comes to these post game press conferences and just breaking it down and basically saying, Yeah, his execution, things that we can d'oh I don't think that he's ever gonna go as far to say that, you know, the lack of talent that you have on the roster with some of these injuries is going to affect you late in games as well.
You know, they mentioned Kyrie Irving to him and he said, Yeah, of course we could use Kyrie Irving.
You know any team can you can use them in every game, not just this game.
And that's not a slight and any other player on the team.
It's more to the product of having the options on the court.
You know, if late in that game you find yourself, maybe you bring in Spencer Dinwiddie with Kyrie Irving on the floor with Joe Harris.
We saw early in the season where they brought in dignity and then with Harris Tori on Prince Andi even took out the center position and started to play them playing Prince of the five.
At one point, the older son, you give yourself this wide range of shooting options around Kyrie opportunities for him to pick and choose where he wants to go with the ball.
That's certainly going to be something that you could see this team executing on as they move through the season.
But ultimately, this was a tough match up against a tough team.
They come away with loss, and I don't think anything beyond just some areas that they can learn to execute on highlighting that part about when when defense's have been blitzing Spencer dead body, that he started to learn and adapt to those things.
And I think that the other positive you can take away from this game if you want to go silver lining about it is that Spencer DiMucci is goingto learn from these opportunities in the starting role and then when he transitions back and you start to see him running that second unit again, I I really do think you're going to see the same carry over the mentality that he's brought to the starting role.
He can now look at that in that secondary roll off the bench leading that second, usually in the bench unit.
Maybe you will see him now.
We highlighted this over this 89 game run here, where he's been more under control.
He's on a better job, attacking towards the basket, body control, not getting caught underneath underneath the basket, where needs to kick it out a little bit wildly at times.
Uh, ultimately, I think that these air great learning experience for him.
And it's also about leadership, right? So instead of that now being when he comes in with that second unit and saying Spencer, try to take this game over in your own way Now you can continue to try to find that balance and rhythm with the players around him and hopefully is still show that balance of facilitation and attacking mentality looking to get other guys good looks.
And then, of course, as we know, still taking the time to know when it is time.
As we saw him hit a stretch of back to back threes and then went to the line, fouled on another shot there.
So you know he can also you get streaky and streaky in a high end way in the high value way.
Not streaky, like a random bench player that can give it to you once every five games.
I think that he can always office you at some point every single night out.
He's going to give you a run where he's really knocking down their shots from the perimeter, driving to the basket.
And again a couple of nice looks in and around the rim for him late in this one, and they just didn't go.
Same thing for Joe Harris could be, said missus on the three pointer.
Mrs that A look around the basket.
I think that, you know, if you against same scenario 1 45 left up seven.
More often than not, I think that even this Nets team without Kyrie would come away victorious in these games to couple of as Joe Harris also mentioned the postgame comments.
A couple of Lucky bounces, which is a couple bounces that go Miami's way in a couple of answers that don't go the Brooklyn Nets way if one of those shots falls the rim.
If that three pointer on a great designed a timeout play for Joe Harris goes down again, changes the complexion late in this one, maybe runs Miami off some of the plans that they have.
They start going for a few more three point attempts.
Then you then you might want to initially and keeps ah, Jimmy Butler out of the lane as much just because of the score and the timing situation there.
Uh, you know, that's it.
I mean, listen, the ultimate, that's what it comes down to.
Nothing is a lot we spoke of.
And the other thing, of course, is the turnovers.
Nets got sloppy in the third quarter.
Their third quarter was was definitely a bit of a disjointed mess there for them.
I do want to find out, and we'll try to dive into some more news and notes, see what comes out.
I'll do a little more research online here and also see if anything comes out tomorrow, any type of plans when it comes to the music structure of minutes that he's getting.
I mentioned it during the broadcast about whether or not Nicholas Claxton maybe deserves a bigger role.
It's not about thinking that he's going to be a game changer, but just giving some guys opportunities and then maybe taking some of the pressure off of Musa and asking him to do some something's effectively in smaller sample size rather than getting close to 20 minutes a game action.
Maybe try to keep him closer to 10 to 12 and see what else he can flex.
I think the Wahba has certainly shown some positive things for himself in this little run that he's gotten, and maybe he's work himself back into what was certainly worked himself.
Not you didn't work itself out of rotation and shrunk up a little bit, and now you're seeing it open up with the injuries.
He's getting a little bit of a longer run, and you certainly could look at him, maybe deserving.
Ahh, a little bit of a bigger minute share going forward even after Kyrie comes back.
I think that he's shown some nice execution opportunities and when you talk about being in that second unit and playing alongside Spencer, didn't Woody maybe a time Then you can start to see some flexibility and then no Wahba and temple become fluid over one another or Harris and you are broken, become fluid as you start to work them in between those lineups over the course of the game.
Now you're talking about as we've seen Joe Harris getting some more opportunities with the second unit and maybe helping carry that load on and then, likewise for Nawab, a little bit of a defensive past, you know, at times for opposition.
That's a good thing, has shown the ability to drive towards that basket and get a couple of good looks against bigger teeth.
I think he's gonna struggle, just particularly a big size guy s.
Oh, I don't know how that plays out as you get into get against bigger defensive matchups, but I do think that he's shown you enough issues carve out a couple of minutes.
And then again, a guy like Shumpert still finding that role defining that role we're getting right up on the edge of Wilson Chandler coming back again.
I don't think it moves the needle too far for you, one way or the other, but it does once again these air players that I think you're looking to get good spurts out of.
You know what you're starting rotation is I think that, uh, you obviously Prince has played himself into that role, has been struggling a little bit from the field of times, kind of an up and down performance from him.
The temple is showing you that he could be fairly consistent, for he's even showing you some nice offensive balance for the most part.
And then his defensive presence has worked out well for him as well.
So you know, these guys are certainly solidified themselves.
And then you got to remember when Kyrie comes back dead, but he's still gonna get some stretches here.
In the absence of Caris Levert.
I think you still will see Den Woody and maybe Irving for small stretches of the game.
We'll get some opportunities on the floor together where they can both be slashing and attacking.
And then again, it allows you to push Ah Harris into that second unit over the course of the game.
But then I asked him, When he gets more, more minutes there in that second unit, Then when caress comes back now, suddenly you have some options there, right? You can flex Caris Levert now in that second unit because you've seen you can have success with Temple.
And certainly when when Kyra's back and healthy even if you went out there and said The starting lineup is Caris Levert and Is Kyrie Irving with Allen with Prince and with Harris.
But then, all of a sudden we saw sometimes early on there is now you.
Maybe you bring in Temple a little bit early, you get or Kyrie Irving goes off and you bring in Spencer didn't work.
Gave me a little bit early.
Now, yes, familiarity with these guys in and around him, and then Temple can come in and take over for a Caris Levert.
And you start to get some of those options there from an offense of standpoint as you start to work through the game and you look at having Caris Levert in that second unit with Din Woody side by side familiarity from the two of them.
Or you look at having temple getting into that second unit Spencer Jiminy now having similar area over these structures a game so again, a lot of options that I think Kenny Atkinson is going to be able to build towards as he gets his players back and healthy.
Still, a few weeks away before you can expect Caris Levert.
But we'll be looking in for the news and notes in and around Kyrie Irving to understand whether or not we can expect him back out sooner than later here as they certainly play it.
Cautious with that shoulder concern, No reason to force the issue.
I'm sure they probably looked at the schedule as well.
Ah, we will possibly come back on here later tonight.
Take a look at some of the league game action.
Maybe find a team that we want to highlight for a matchup for the for the Brooklyn Nets down the road.
And then, if not well, we will do.
Ah, very least, if not tonight, then tomorrow morning we'll come back in talk news and notes around injury updates.
And then we'll also go a little bit deeper into that schedule and talk about as we start to see where we want to plan out Kyrie Irving's return and then it's high line that is around Caris Levert this schedule.
When has it lay out? What are the expectations for them against some of those weaker teams? Next 10 games stretches big, and we will do in the next couple of days or state of the franchise through the 1st 20 games.
That's 10 and 10.
So you know, playing 500 ball.
But what can we glean? Haven't had now nine games on the absence of Kyrie Irving haven't had Caris Levert for a big stretch.
I think if you were coming into the season and you said it this way, the 1st 20 games is gonna play out.
You probably would have chalked up another handful of losses and probably been looking in a team that was maybe more like seven and 13 or eight and 12.
They're getting lucky.
Instead, again, dimwit, he takes a big step up here.
Take some control and leadership over this roster in those players absence, and it's done a nice job for them.
And I think that's really what you're gonna reflect here in a lot of these post game comments, win or lose right solid wins.
Nice to get them.
Also, not going to rise yourself too high, knowing that there's always things to work on and then on the other side of it, lost against a good a good team in the Miami Heat. You're not gonna get too low.
You're not gonna beat yourself up too much about it.
I think that by and large, a lot of a lot of positives take out from this game.
Always, as we've been mentioning.
Keep keep those turnovers cleaned up.
Got a little sloppy there in the second half of this one, and then, ah, as we're going to point to it, certainly against bigger teams, it is the defensive rebounding boxing out, and that's where you need to wonder.
Is this team moves through the season? Would it be something they look at this season will be more off season? We mentioned This is well, right.
A lot of the way you look at this roster and how it's built is about the long term of Kevin Durant coming back next season when Kevin Durant comes pack in.
All the sudden, that really makes a lot of adjustments for other teams and how they need to look at this roster and suddenly what? Maybe it doesn't look like the biggest roster in the world.
It doesn't really matter as much because now power forwards were centers of time are going to have to step out on the perimeter against Katie, and then you're opening up easy looks for Jared Allen in behind your opening of easy looks for Kyrie Irving to driving towards the basket.
So you know a lot of these things that we're looking at here.
We have to kind of think about some individual plays and the attributes that they're bringing.
That's why we've been highlighting Joe Harris and the development of his game, going towards the basket as being certainly an asset over the course of this season and then going into next season, when he's getting those looks on the outside, the flooring is nice and spaced out.
All of these guys are gonna have easier past two lane because a superstar top three in the top two in the N B A talent like Kevin Durant solves a lot of those ills creates a lot of matchup issues before other other rosters.
And that's how you can kind of, you know, look ahead and think that everything that we want a judge here or try to quantify has to be with this bigger picture of what's coming down the road for them.
So as we as we wrap up just a post game press conference, Some conversation, news and notes.
There want to jump in and highlight those things and just kind of see how they lined up with my initial takeaways in the postgame.
Obviously feel pretty good about it, right? I think Kevin Kenny Atkinson pretty even keeled there and obviously, is always going to mention the things they need to clean up and work on.
But I think still very complimentary about what didn't what he is doing for them.
Andi now the newly coined insanity era.
Still, I think going strong here in spite of this loss.
Tip of the hat to the ignoring that we got Nets podcast.
We'll go ahead and get him out of here on that one.
I'll take a look over the roster.
You'll obviously sorry the lineup for games tonight.
You obviously get the alert.
If I come on and I'm gonna do some just in game coverage, you try to pick one of those ones.
That isn't getting a lot of attention here on SportsCastr.
Always fun to kind of look in on some of those other games and got some positive feedback on the ones that we've done so far.
With that being said, as we always tell you, get over social media, instagram, Facebook and Twitter at We Got Nets, we got nets dot com And, of course, go over the iTunes like subscribed rating review.
Get those auto downloads going so you don't miss out on the episodes.
Helps us rise up the charts.
Last couple episodes been really big for us, so we are trying to rise from that number two spot in the podcast platform in terms of coverage coverage for the Nets, and we want to lock up that number one.
So any time that you help us do that helps us get dedicate more time to the content.
And even on here is well, it's helping us.
A rise up is we pursue and looked to lock in the official Brooklyn Nets affiliate four SportsCastr that'll be happening of following this month here, So that's big news for us.
We're very excited about it with a shout out to Nick over here on SportsCastrs and done a great job communicating with us and certainly helping us along the way with the With the Christmas gnome would see rate in the background.
There over my shoulder as the holiday season is in full swing.
Let's start off December with a loss.
But by and large, everything out of the post game is just about cleaning up some execution issues and continue to keep a steady hand as they look ahead to some upcoming match ups for the We got nits podcast live on the SportsCastr stream.
I am Adam, our vic, saying Thank you to all the viewers I checked in with us.
I see a few more people are getting their eyes on this one.
Certainly feel free to jump back.
This is the post game wrap up covering Joe Harris's comments covering Kenny Atkinson and what they went over and how this lined up with some of our post game wrap up news and notes around this game of what our thoughts were.
The 1092106 loss for the Brooklyn Nets.
And then I will just give you this brief one.
Before we do get out the door.
I never I don't want to trail off too often on some of these here, but we will just cover that final wrap up of what the's stat lines looked like for the Brooklyn Nets.
In this loss here, we highlighted that the bench points were fairly even in this matchup.
We think, uh, certainly we highlighted the players that were most important here, but we just go ahead and take this quick look in before we get out the door to wrap it up one last time for any of the last many viewers.
Again, please hot back over to go over any Kenny Atkinson notes.
Certainly the courts from Joe Harrison and some conversation around Spencer Dinwiddie.
The final line, of course, was some big stat lines for individuals.
But ultimately what we talked about was the total rebounding 51 for the Miami Heat. 48.
So basically dead, dead.
Even there, we talked about those assist 24 on 40 made field goals for the Nets.
You felt good about that.
You out shot them 44% to 39 so you would have felt that should help push you over the edge here.
Certainly, foul shots.
Which, by the way, is until that Kyrie Irving is going to care for you in a lot of ways.
So in a discrepancy of 12 plus 12 on the Fuel go start free throw attempts for the Miami Heat plays a big factor.
Not bad underneath her season average with 12 turnovers.
But just slopping that third quarter would have liked to see them have cleaned that up.
And then we talk about those bench points that still between Jordan and no Wahba certainly did a nice job.
A total of what was 32 bench points for the Brooklyn Nets.
But on the other side there, 24 kicking from drugs.
You obviously plays heavy minutes for this team along with Winslow.
They ended up finishing out there with 34 38 42.
So, obviously, the bench doesn't nice scoring there for the Miami Heat.
Just a very balanced attack from them.
I think through that starting line up on the strength of Butler Robinson contributing audio also did a nice job.
I thought in the second half, getting inside on the interior, and these are some of those adjustments that we talk about.
Certainly, Spoelstra is one of the better minds in the game.
Does a nice job making those halftime adjustments and at this point still learning curve for some players, like a Jared Allen and then just the team is a hole.
So those again those brief takeaway rapids that we talked about and now the Nets get Thio, get a couple of nights off before they prepare for the Atlanta Hawks going to Atlanta so a couple days to get some rest.
You know when you're when you're missing some of your stars again, it is always nice to have some opportunities to lick your wounds.
I think Spencer Dinwiddie Certainly you remember to distance expanded role playing more minutes. Ah, higher expectations.
So if he gets a chance to maybe kind of settle himself down a little bit just from arrest perspective and then dial it right back up, come Wednesday.
So that'll do it for us here again at a marmot on behalf, we got nits.
Thank you so much for joining in with us.
Look forward to seeing you.
If not later tonight, then, of course, tomorrow morning talking all thing Brooklyn Nets and their upcoming schedule.

It's a nice season, hopefully for some winter weather to set in as we also set into a positive outlook for the Brooklyn Nets.
