Thanks for tuning in to my stream in today's dream No one Let me see if I can add a little more light.
Yeah, there you can actually see my face a little bit.
So in two days stream, I'm gonna be doing a pregame preview between the Mavericks and the Lakers.
Almost got me back on later today to go over post game wrap up, but also being kind of in the spirit of the holidays.
I'm gonna say what I'm thankful for is the Lakers san and also be a little greedy.
And what I would like to see changed with the Lakers, which is not much.
And I'm very happy with what's going on with the Lakers so far, But there's always some room for improvement.
All I wait for a few more people.
I saw my co host co owner of my podcast, Christian McGowan, has joined in.
I'm gonna be talking briefly for a few minutes just about the great news that there's still been a few disputed reports Christian and really text you about this.
But I've seen a few people say that USC hasn't made any decision yet.
I'm not too worried about that.
So Clay Helton reportedly has been fired as the head coach of the USC Trojans, their football team for anyone who doesn't follow college football.
But there's been a few people who have tweeted that there has been no decision made by USC yet.
And Clay Helton is still the coach I really wanted.
Clay Helton fired, and I'm not too concerned about those tweets because any time a coach gets fired, it seems like there's the first news outlet that releases the report that he's been fired and the university may not have even pulled Clay Helton yet.
So, yeah, Christian team Urban.
I'm on that team, too, but the USC might not.
Even USC might not have even told Clay Helton yet.
So, of course, they're going to say no.
We haven't made any decision yet.
You hear that a lot with different firings that go on when it's first reported, the U, the university or the team either has no comment or they dispute and say no.
Nothing has happened.
And then a day later, later that day, the university or the team makes a formal announcement that exactly what we're supported earlier, and they disputed.
It is, in fact, true.
So I really do believe Clay Helton is fired.
I I would hope that he would be fired after yet another disappointing year for us.
See you in five and seven last year.
He should have been fired last year, but he didn't get fired.
Came back this year.
They played you Todd home.
And to report that if they got embarrassed by Utah home, Clay Helton's gonna be fired and up winning that game, which seemingly Bon Clay held in the rest of this season.
But they finished the season at eight and four.
There was a NAR tickle that was written by I forgot who it was written by, but basically saying that yes, firing they held in would cost us see a lot of money because they would have to buy him out.
But by keeping him, they could be losing even more money because of the lack of attendance over the course of this year for USC football games.
I think that they had I think it was like 91,000 fewer fans at their games over the course of this year versus on average, which if it's $100 per ticket to get into the game, that's about $9.
1 million in lost revenue, just in terms of people coming to the game.
That's not including lost merchandise sales, less people watching the games, which I couldn't could come out to less lucrative TV contracts, which I know USC is part of the Pac 12 but it all impacts them.
Yeah, food to Christian.
But yet that all plays a big factor.
So yes, maybe buying out Clay Helton.
I'm not sure exactly what the number is, probably somewhere between 15 $20 million but you're gonna make that up.
You could make that up over the course of one year.
If you hire someone like Urban Meyer or even James Franklin, I'd be a big fan of that signing as well.
The difference between Urban Meyer and James Franklin, at least to me.
Urban Meyer the last three stops that he's had a bad coach, Utah, Florida and, of course, Ohio State.
He had an undefeated team.
He won at least one championship with Florida, and with Ohio State with Utah, they went undefeated.
But because they weren't even in the Pac 12 at that point ended up playing in the Sugar Bowl, where I believe they beat you.
So urban Meyer has proven time and time again.
Wherever he goes, he turns that team into a serious contender in a championship.
The team that can legitimately win the championship, whereas James Franklin he's gone to the Penn State and Penn State has been really good over the last few years of James Franklin is their head coach.
They haven't been.
I don't think they've made the playoff once, but again, that's Penn State, where I'd argue it's harder to recruit a Penn State than it is at Florida or at Ohio State.
I think James Franklin or Urban Meyer, if they were to come into USC, would be a huge win for USC.
And I know the other 11 teams in the Pac 12.
We're all hoping please us.
IKI Clay held on for one more year, but I really hope that's not the case.
USC looks like they're moving on from Clay Helton and Urban Meyer or James Franklin would be a great higher for them, and on top of them, just being really good coaches and what they can do.
Recruiting was new recruiting rules.
Yet Christian, that's exactly what I was gonna hit on the new recruiting rules for players coming into effect, which I believe starts January 1st 2021.
Am I right about that? Christian? I think I am, whether it's some time in 2020 early, 2020 22.
Okay, so we got a few years until that kicks in.
But still, that is going to be huge for us.
See that? And the fact that universities cannot pay players, It has to be outside agencies or outside people not having to do with the university.
That is so big for USC and U.
To a lesser extent, but you think about all the really good athletes coming out of high school going into college, starting in 2022 if they want to get paid as much as possible from outside places.
Yet USC featuring clutch sports exactly Christian, there is no place in America that you can make more off of your likeness from outside places than Los Angeles.
Maybe New York is right up there, But what football team in New York Can you go to its for football? It's L.
You don't want to go to Tuscaloosa, Alabama, and try to get the same endor*****ts as you could at a place like USC.
So I'm really excited about what the future holds for us.
See, especially if this Clay Helton firing is true.
And there have been reports that USC has already been talking with Urban Meyer's camp.
There's also been some reports that USC is looking to get a new head coach in as soon as by the end of this upcoming week, which would be huge if they could get Urban Meyer in that time frame.
I mean, if it's not Urban Meyer, I would not expect them to have ah hire done by the end of this week just because along the good coaches are still coaching, they're gonna be coaching their bowl games.
I wouldn't expect James Franklin whatever bowl game Penn State plays in.
No, no, I think about a little bit more.
I still think it's unlikely that he would want to take a new job before he coaches in the bowl game for Penn State.
But we'll see nonetheless very happy and excited to be a USC Trojan being alumni of USC and be excited for USC football once again because these last few years of where we belong so took about seven and 1/2 minutes.
This talking about USC fight on that's right, Christian.
But now I want to pre game the Mavericks Lakers game, which is going to be tipping off at one o'clock.
P m Pacific time for a clock Eastern SCL.
So Christian's team one, too.
So Christians, happy Christians? Probably even more happy than me.
So, yeah, it's a good day and hopefully it's gonna be better with, hopefully knock on wood Lakers winning against the Mavericks that the game that, like I said, starts off at 1 p.
m. Pacific time.
So this is a game where this this month of December is gonna be the toughest part of the Lakers, scheduled by far, at least so far.
You look at their schedule.
Lakers have a pretty relatively easy start to the year than December January are their toughest months, I believe.
I think it's 10 of the 14 games the Lakers play this month are against teams that are currently above 500.
It's gonna be really tough.
They play the Mavericks today, then they go on the road.
They play the Nuggets on Tuesday, and the next night they play at Utah.
So at Dunder at Utah, back to back, that is about as tough as you can get on back to back nights.
Denver and Utah a really tough places to play.
If the Lakers somehow win, I'm not expecting them to win both games.
I think they can maybe take one of two.
My guess would be Utah.
Just because Denver's a better team in Denver does not like the Lakers.
But if they can win both of those games than I am convinced Lakers are legitimately probably title favorites, although the Clippers right there.
But it's just gonna be really fun to see what they can do this month.
Start off against the Mavericks today.
Last time they played the Mavericks, the Lakers and Mavericks had one of the best games of the season ended up going into overtime.
LeBron James and Luca Dunkin both had triple doubles Lakers under the winning in overtime after Danny Green with a three of the end of regulation, send them in overtime.
I'm sure that was a nice feeling for Danny Green, who played for the Mavericks rivals Antonio Spurs for so many years.
Also, Mavericks were kind of low balling him in free agency, and Danny Green ended up signing with the Lakers.
So definitely good feeling for Danny Green in this game, though, in terms of what to look for, I am expecting in terms of who's gonna be guarding Luca.
Dockage and greens gonna start off on him.
Danny Green is one of the best perimeter defenders in the league.
He doesn't get talked about nearly enough just because he is in a star player.
He isn't someone who's he's not really athletic at all.
When you think about great defensive players, usually they're really athletic.
But Danny Green is someone who is just a really smart player and a really smart defender.
He uses his body, creates different types of angles that just make it tough on whoever his opponent is when he's guarding them and Luca Donald Trump, still expecting him to have a really big game.
But any green should just make a little harder on him.
Annie Green doesn't play 100 minutes, though.
That's the issue is that he plays around.
I think it's roundly 26 ish minutes.
I'm doing this a little bit off the top of my head.
I don't wanna look up his minutes per game, but it's below 30.
He's never had a season in his career or he's played 30 minutes per game.
So Danny Green will be on Luca.
Dunk it for part of the night or part of the day, I guess, since it's a 1 p.m.
game, that's another thing.
Usually the Lakers on Sunday nights at home.
They always play at 6 30 but night they're playing in one Clippers play at home later today at 7 30 Usually it's the other way around with the Clippers Have the afternoon game and Lakers have the night game.
But it's different for this time around, so that's why I get watch.
The Lakers play a little bit earlier.
It is cutting into football a little bit, though, but going back to this game so Danny Green will spend some time on Luca when Danny Green isn't in the game.
I would expect either Alex Caruso to be on Luca Dung Kich, who is another really smart defender who it's a little bit more athletic than Danny Green.
But his I Q is incredible for what he can do defensively.
He just is always in the right spot at the right time.
He'll make it a little tougher.
Luca don kitsch.
And then I'd also expect contagious Caldwell Pope to get a shot or two at Luca Don Kage.
I don't love that match up just because Lucas, a little bit bigger than KCP and KCP, does not like to be physical at all.
But I'd expect them to get at least a few possessions on Luca Dung kich LeBron James.
Also, I think, I mean, just based off of some switches and stuff, LeBron will have some possessions were he's guarding Luca and I think LeBron is going to be up for the challenge and he will make it tough on Luca's well.
But obviously, the key for the Mavericks is just how well this Luca play.
How well this Kristaps Porzingis play, who last time the Lakers play the Mavericks, Porzingis did not have a good game.
I don't remember how many points he ended up with, but you just I know his rebounding total was really low.
He just did not do that well against the Lakers.
And he's on Anthony Davis, who can mash Kristaps sports and gets athletically a little bit more athletic than Chris at sports and get Stephen and it's gonna be tough for Porzingis.
Anthony Davis didn't have a great game.
He had a decent game against the Mavericks last game, and I am expecting Look, Porzingis is seven foot three Anthony Davis.
The players that he has the most trouble with is players that are tall, and that's what poor Zynga's is.
But still, I'm expecting a nice game from Anthony Davis.
Maybe around 25 points, 10 rebounds.
Though they lead the league in blocked shots, they're averaging 7.
5 block shots per game tonight.
Again, not tonight.
I keep saying tonight this afternoon against the Mavericks, I would expect another really good defensive battle for the Lakers, where they're going to be able to block a lot more shots.
And when the maverick seven Boban Marjanovic, though I mean he's having put three Porzingis is seven foot three to be tough to block their shots.
Dwight Howard gives up size to Boban Marjanovic.
That's just something that sticks out for me from the last time they played was that Dwight was having some really tough, tough time guarding Boban Marjanovic.
Just because of his size alone.
I'd expect the Lakers maybe collapse the pain a little bit and try to help on the rebounding.
Not have too many players leak out.
But one other thing for the Lakers, though, is that they started off this year.
Not very good offensively at all.
They have climbed up to where I don't know what their efficiency is Offensively.
I think it's in the top six and then b A but field goal percentage.
They are now number one in the league and field goal percentage, and I will look up.
Their field goal percentage is 48.
3% which is first in the league Mavericks of 46.
3% 9th in the league Luca dunk.
It obviously makes your offense a lot better with everything he's able to do.
But LeBron James has been phenomenal and Anthony Davis and the Lakers have just been playing so well while not utilizing their biggest offensive weapon, which is the LeBron James Anthony Davis pick and roll.
They really haven't gone to that too much to start this year, a lot less than I was expecting them to, which has been really surprising.
But I love what they've been able to do outside of that.
I really think that they've been kind of trying to work their entire offense where okay, we know we have the Anthony Davis LeBron James taken role in our back pocket.
Let's try to utilize other wrinkles over offense, improve that toe wear.
Come playoff time in the playoffs.
Everyone tries to stop your number one option, which is going to be, Oh, the LeBron Anthony Davis taken role.
If teams tried to king on that and stop it, they need to have second options, third options and they've been working on improving that throughout this entire year.
I'm expecting that to continue, but over the course of these next 14 20 games, these tough games coming up, I would expect some or LeBron Anthony Davis pick and roll just because it's gonna be tougher to win these games and they're gonna have together their number one option So that's the biggest thing to look for, for the Lakers is just Are they gonna be utilizing that LeBron 80 pick and roll? I think they are.
We'll see what happens right now.
This game has a six and 1/2 point spread.
Lakers are favored by six and 1/2.
I think the Mavericks covered.
I think the Mavericks cover, but I do think the Lakers win this game.
Go on to win their 11th game in a row, which is crazy.
Lakers or 17 and 24 years ago, I believe, was four years ago.
Kobe Bryant's last year on the Lakers Lakers won 17 games the entire season.
They won 17 games before we hit December, and now they have a chance to get 18 wins, which I do think they get to.
I am going to predict a final score over under his 2 22.
5 I'm gonna say final score of 1 10 to 1 of six Lakers.
So take the under on the over under, but take the Mavericks on the spread and let's see what happens again.
1 10 106 Lakers.
That's my prediction.
Thanks everyone for tuning in, and I am going to enjoy watching some more football Packers.
Second half should be starting now.
And I only back on to talk with you guys after the Lakers game is over.
