This is Alex from unwrapped sports here to break down the Chicago Bear at Detroit lying game.
It was a tough fought victory for the Bears, 24 20.
For those of you who have me on Twitter or, you know, had seen that I had posted about going on right after the game, I apologize for the delay.
I had a little bit of a technical difficulty.
So, ex, please excuse that there's a couple points I wanted to bring up for this game.
Uh, for me, I mean, let's just start off with one of the shining players in this game.
And I think that's Mr Risky.
Ah, he definitely looked like a better representation of what I think I expected him to be after this past season.
You know, he definitely got, you know, very a lot of chemistry going with Anthony Miller.
You know, at Robinson's been a consistent target of his, and, you know, he's really done a good job in this game where he really spread the ball around the 1st 2 people.
Players to catch a touchdown were not any of his, you know, quote unquote like top three or four targets.
I think that was very impressive.
Thanks for joining Stream Man. Happy Thanksgiving.
Um, for the Bears for Travis Key.
Uh, it was just a very different approach to the game.
It seemed like the second half, you know, he did have a couple of moments where he still looked like the struggling player that, you know we've seen this whole season.
But the composure he had in these last couple drives, I mean, just the way he was placing the ball.
I mean, it's been such a running joke to clown on true biscuit this season, where even fanduel tweeted, uh, like, hold onto your seats or something.
Uh, Mr Biscuit just dropped the dime.
And it's just one of those years where he's anything that he does.
It looks that much better just because he's been very inconsistent this season.
But for him, I mean, 338 yards through the air.
Three touchdowns he did.
He was intercepted once, but he did have to come back and win this game, and I give him a lot of credit.
I mean, he definitely put Miller in a good spot to, you know, make a lot of plays.
Nine receptions, 100 40 yards.
But you know, overall, I was just very impressed in the second half, particularly with the way he was positioning the ball, placing everything for his receivers, kind of leading them to be open.
It was impressive aerial assault by risky and those final two drives.
And you know on that No, I was actually impressed with the way Montgomery was running.
I know I've been a very huge fan and, ah, very outspoken person saying that I believe he has the potential to be a lot better.
Um, but I just think, you know, he that's he's 16 carry 75 yards.
No, he definitely has the skill.
I just think, you know, it's part of that.
You know, he needs to develop a little bit more.
I, uh, got some research tell from a buddy of mine, and he's actually the one of the worst after contact.
And, you know, I think that was very peculiar to me when I look at the stat because he just is such a strong runner, the very violent runner.
So to think that, you know, he's not one of the top running backs.
Running after contact is just peculiar to me, but you know, he had a good showing today.
He caught two of the targets that were thrown to him and one of almost for a touchdown.
And, you know, he's definitely improved a lot as a receiver out of the backfield Forum.
And I just think that for the Bears to have success in the future, they really need to.
You know? I mean sure that Montgomery develops his past catching ability to kind of give them a another option with Tariq Owen, you know? So if they ever go a to running back set, you know, it's a more dynamic, um, more dynamic situation for them.
Thank you for joining Stream.
Um, and then the next topic I wanted to kind of go into was Detroit can't hold a lead.
So this game was exactly like all the other games a season where they've actually held a lead at some point of the game.
And, you know, like the record shows they have not been able to close out games.
And, you know, I think this team has definitely the potential to be a great football team.
I just think when it's those clutch moments, they just haven't been ableto really get over that hump.
And I don't necessarily put this a blame on the coach, you know? I mean, the coach definitely has a lot of, you know, ability of kind of getting guys to kind of come through and want to go to war for for for him.
But I just think that, you know, this team is, you know, short of it.
And I know that you know, Stafford Mist has been missing a lot of games because of his back injury.
You know, even Driscoll is now, and it's just one of those situations where I think this team is so close to being a contender.
And, you know, as we saw earlier on in the season, they definitely got robbed in one of those games against the Packers.
But you know, if if we really look at this team as a whole, they definitely have struggled when that when the time needed them to one that when the moment of the game was, you know, make her break, they broken.
And in this game, you know, they went into halftime with the lead.
You know, they were unable to really continue things going.
They would be penalized on a great run by, uh, scare, bro, who, you know, busted out a couple runs that were called back.
And I think that is, you know, testament how this season is gone that, you know, they make a good 12 steps forward and they get 45 steps back.
And, you know, I definitely want to give a shout out to Ah, Blau.
He had a hell of a performance.
280 yards, two touchdowns.
I definitely didn't expect him to be performing at that level.
He looked like he had great pocket presence.
He was moving around.
Key avoided sacks.
You know, Khalil Mack was on him, and he was able to, you know, maneuver his way out of that.
And I was just very impressed with his performance.
It was his debut on Thanksgiving.
So? So what a stage to perform at.
And you know, this line seems not, you know, just to come.
They did not disappoint.
It was not a stinker at all, you know, Both scare bro had 83 yards on the ground.
Golladay had himself a game four receptions, 158 yards, one touchdown on my bench in one of my leagues because I didn't think of the string quarterback could do that.
Marvin Jones continues to be a very good option in the passing game for the Detroit Lions, another touchdown for him.
But you know, I was very impressed by this team.
I know that in get, you know they didn't get over the hump, but for Detroit, you know, it's just been a rough season.
But you know, it's not because they don't have the talent.
They definitely have the talent, as we can see just by if you watch the game or the stat lines.
But they have just not been ableto really get over the hump during crucial moments on then Bears defense.
They have definitely been a shell of themselves this whole season.
After I believe week for they kind of just fell off the table.
I think a couple injuries kind of threw everything off for them, but when it really mattered most in this game, they came through.
I know Khalil Mack, you know, miss that sack in the on that fourth quarter drive.
But just having that pressure, making the quarterback move, taking up more time.
Thio give his other defenders and opportunity toe to, you know, get to the quarterback.
It's It was impressive, and, you know, the defensive really picked it off for vice.
And ultimately, you know, they got the job done and you know, a big a big, big time sack on the third down to put him in the fourth and long and ultimately, you know, give themselves get the offense back on the field to run out the clock.
But it was just a very impressive performance by the Chicago Bears defense to end the game.
It's it's weird to think of the Bears and not have see them be that elite defense they've always been.
But, you know, it's kind of like, you know, a situation where I think it really exposed how this offense has been very inconsistent.
And definitely last year, you know, they had their defense kind of come through for them in multiple games.
And you know, this year the defense has not been able to do that and it's shown in their record.
But you know very impressed with that.
The effort from the defensive line in the past, rushers, you know, when it really mattered most, they definitely came through for the team and got themselves there.
A tough, hard fought victory for the Bears.
Definitely interesting to see how the Bears reform the next couple of weeks, I said in a stream before Beach, the Chicago Bears are definitely, I'm sure going to keep a really close eye on Travis, See how he performs in these next couple of weeks.
I just feel like when you are a young coach, that is mad.
Maggie, you don't want to tie yourself to a quarterback because your job is not secure unless you're you know Bill Belichick.
You know, my Tom wants one of those, um, coaches that really have a pool in the organization.
You're your job is basically a veil, like, you know, it could be taken away at any time.
So I feel Maggie's gonna have a very tough choice on whether he wants toe.
Continue writing the tribe. Risky train.
You know, if he sees a light at the end of the tunnel, that tunnel just never that the title doesn't you know and for him.
But I just think that for the next couple of weeks for the Bear, Sorry, but that phone is freezing.
But it's gonna be interesting to see the way Travis Key performs.
And you know how he eyes able to, you know, continue these performances.
You know, if Montgomery Cameron the ball can't get anything going through the ground.
If the Bears defense isn't coming through, you can try Biscuit be the guy, and in this game, definitely true.
Whiskey was the guy made a lot of great throws, very impressive.
And to do it on this stage, I think, is a great plus for his morale.
Just because I know he's been feeling the heat of, you know, the criticism because of his in inaccuracies, his inconsistency.
It's it's it's very well heard from him, but I have very impressed by Mr Whiskey and the Bears defense for coming through when it mattered most.
That is it for my post game recap on the Lions and bears.
