00:00:07
Hey, everyone, Thanks for tuning in to my stream.
00:00:09
I'm, uh, just finished watching the Green Bay Packers get absolutely destroyed by the San Francisco 40 Niners.
00:00:16
But, I mean, I kind of expected I was expecting the Packers to lose the 40 Niners.
00:00:23
The Packers just aren't I don't think they're in the league team, and I haven't thought that for a while.
00:00:28
It's great that we're 18 to now 83 but no, we're not.
00:00:33
We're not in the top upper echelon of the entire N F C.
00:00:37
That's the 40 Niners and the Saints, and I think the Niners are at the top of that.
00:00:41
But anyways, this is gonna be a basketball stream out of football stream.
00:00:46
Yes, I'm wearing my Packers jersey, but we're gonna focus on the Los Angeles Lakers.
00:00:50
Which is, of course, my basketball team and the team that out of all sports, I enjoy watching more than anything else.
00:00:57
And obviously I am extremely happy that they are 14 and two right now.
00:01:02
This week, they added their win streak, So the Lakers now have tied their longest winning streak of the season at seven, which is really incredible that they had to seven game winning streaks already this short into the season there.
00:01:17
4 p.
00:01:18
m.
00:01:19
do.
00:01:20
They started the year off with a loss, 17 lost one to the rafters, and then they won seven cents.
00:01:24
Both games that they lost, they had a chance to win.
00:01:28
The Raptors would have been easier to justify them winning on the Clippers.
00:01:32
The Clippers, in the fourth quarter of that first game, really just took over.
00:01:35
But Lakers have really just impressed me this year with just their ability to win these games.
00:01:42
I know they haven't had a very tough schedule, their 10 and no against teams under 500 but that's all you can do is play the games that you're given on the schedule eventually going into December and January.
00:01:57
Those were some pretty tough months for the Lakers.
00:02:00
Let me I have there schedule right here.
00:02:02
So to finish off November, they play the San Antonio Spurs on Monday, which that one should be a pretty interesting game.
00:02:12
I I'll get into it a little bit, but I could see them losing that, but and they play at the Pelicans on November 27th and then against the Wizards to close out November.
00:02:22
So three games against teams that I know the Spurs were struggling.
00:02:26
I'm not going to say they won't make the playoffs school.
00:02:28
That is not gonna count out Gregg Popovich, but three teams that, in all likelihood at best.
00:02:34
One of those three teams makes the playoffs without sound.
00:02:36
November ends get into December, though, and it's tough right off the start.
00:02:40
They play the Mavericks at home on December 1st on the go and play the Nuggets in Denver two days later.
00:02:46
The next night, they play in Utah.
00:02:48
That is one of the toughest back to back games that you could possibly have in Denver and then in Utah the next night.
00:02:56
I even if the Lakers are fully healthy by the time those games happened, I expect them to lose at least one of those They play at the Trail Blazers than two nights after that.
00:03:06
Come home, play the timber ALS than they're all the way across the country to play the Magic in Orlando than the heat in Miami.
00:03:13
Then they play the Hawks in Atlanta, Pacers in Indiana, the box in Milwaukee, Nuggets at home and on the Clippers on Christmas Blazers on three days after Christmas and then the Mavericks the day after that.
00:03:27
Blazers air in Portland.
00:03:28
So two games in Portland in December, December's a really tough month.
00:03:34
And going into January, which is another tough month, they start off with playing the Phoenix Suns and they play the Pelicans.
00:03:41
Pistons Nick.
00:03:42
So not a tough start to January, but then they play at Dallas at Oklahoma City, which I know the Thunder are great.
00:03:49
We saw the Lakers beat them twice, but they're tough at home.
00:03:52
They haven't won a game on the road they found with the record, is at home with all their winds, have come at home, and they play Cleveland, Orlando.
00:03:59
Then they play at Houston at Boston at New York at Brooklyn at Philadelphia.
00:04:04
So that's a five game road playing at home against the Clippers, which, I mean, even if they're on the road, then they still would be at home, and then they play the Blazers on home.
00:04:19
But December and January gonna be tough month.
00:04:22
So we're going to see over the course of these next few months just how good the Lakers are But, like I said, all they can do right now is just play the games, that they're given the schedule that they're given, and so far they have looked really good.
00:04:34
I know that these last few games have been closer than I would like them to be.
00:04:39
Yes, they're playing teams that under 500 but it's just tough to the state focus for this long and you could kind of attribute it to their playing these teams that are not as good as them.
00:04:50
It's just tough to stay up for the challenge night and the night out, going up against teams that are none as talented as you, and it's It's something that even though the Lakers have struggled in these games and they were closer than they should have been there still winning.
00:05:07
And at the end of the day, that's obviously what you want to do.
00:05:10
I know they've been close, but they've come across with the winds and the Lakers have just really impressed me from that standpoint in that you won seven games in a row.
00:05:20
I don't care who you're playing out care if it's the seven worst teams in the N B A which it's not seven worst, but a win's A win and Lakers, especially the home and home series with the Thunder, where they played in L. A.
00:05:34
On Tuesday and then in Oklahoma City on Friday, I thought there was a good chance they would have lost one of those, especially the one in Oklahoma City, second night of a back to back at Memphis.
00:05:44
I know Memphis isn't a very good team, but second item back to back.
00:05:48
The Lakers are an older team, mostly veteran players except for Kyle Koosman.
00:05:53
Alex Caruso usually on back to backs.
00:05:57
That's when veterans kind of struggled a little bit.
00:05:59
But Lakers? They did struggle.
00:06:01
They still pulled out the win.
00:06:03
109 Wanna wait? And yeah, I'm just I'm excited for what they have been able to do.
00:06:08
So are, and I'm really excited for what they can continue to do.
00:06:11
Moving forward.
00:06:12
I'm really excited for that beginning Slate of December, because that's where we're gonna really start to learn just how good the Lakers are.
00:06:19
The Lakers defensive efficiency, which they started out as the most efficient team defensively in the n B A.
00:06:25
They faltered a little bit in that regard.
00:06:27
They've gone down to four by believe in defensive efficiency.
00:06:30
But on the flip side, their offensive efficiency, which I think just a week and 1/2 or two weeks ago Satya 18th in the N B.
00:06:38
A.
00:06:40
Is now six, which look, that's a pretty good tradeoff.
00:06:42
I'll take falling from first defensively to fourth if my offense efficiency goes up from 18 to 6.
00:06:49
As long as my defensive defensive efficiency wasn't extremely ahead of everyone else, and now it's falling down.
00:06:56
The number for which it wasn't Lakers were still close, but they were the most efficient team defensively, part of the Lakers.
00:07:02
So the two main reasons by the Lakers defensive efficiency has gone down as one.
00:07:08
As you start winning, you can start to lose a little bit of focus on the defensive end of things where it kind of gets in your head.
00:07:14
You're just thinking, Yeah, we're just better than other teams, so we don't have to try as hard.
00:07:18
And when teams don't try as hard, the first thing to go is the defense, and that's something that we've seen a little bit from the Lakers The other reason, obviously, is that Ray's on Rondo's back.
00:07:28
Avery Bradley is out.
00:07:29
Avery Bradley has been the Lakersbest on ball defender this year with him being out and he's been out for, I think about a week and 1/2 now.
00:07:36
Raison Rondo has gotten a lot more minutes.
00:07:39
Rondo has been very bad defensively, just like I expected them to be Kyle Kuzma.
00:07:44
To even to a lesser extent than Rondo.
00:07:47
Kuzma has not been a plus on defense, and you'll take it because of what he can do offensively.
00:07:52
And that's another reason why the offense of efficiency has gone up and same thing with Rondo to a degree with the offense of efficiency.
00:08:00
I've said before there are certain spots when the Lakers should be looking to play him.
00:08:04
I don't like having Rondo on the court from the bronze on the court, because Rondo is the best way to utilize him is having the ball in his hands.
00:08:12
But if you have the ball in his hands, you take the ball out of LeBron's hands, which I know LeBron can play off all too.
00:08:19
But he's at his best with the ball in his hand.
00:08:21
So you want players around LeBron, who can shoot, who can catch and shoot.
00:08:25
And while Rondo has made some strides in that regard, he is not the ideal point guard tohave playing next to LeBron James.
00:08:33
You want ideally, Quinn Coca.
00:08:34
He's hitting his shots, but he has not been this year.
00:08:37
Avery Bradley has been shooting well enough from outside, too.
00:08:41
Justify playing him next to LeBron offensively, obviously, with what Avery Bradley does defensively.
00:08:45
Yes, you want him on the court? Uh, who else? Alex Caruso has shot the ball? Not nearly as well as he did last year from the outside, but with what he does defensively and just the chemistry that LeBron and Alex Russo have.
00:08:58
You've seen that before when I found out what game it was, where Caruso on three straight possessions, he had to backdoor cuts when LeBron and the ball in the post LeBron found him for layups.
00:09:07
And then on the 3rd 1 same play wasn't open.
00:09:10
The back door cut faded out to the other corner.
00:09:13
The broken hit him for a three, and that's the type of chemistry that they have that LeBron doesn't necessarily have with all the other players.
00:09:20
So, yeah, Caruso definitely makes a difference to.
00:09:23
But that's the biggest reason why the Lakers defensive efficiency has fallen is because Bradley's out of their Caruso missed last night.
00:09:31
He was probable the night before against the Thunder.
00:09:34
But second night of a back to doc Useless is questionable.
00:09:37
Ended up not playing.
00:09:39
Rondo gets more minutes.
00:09:40
Rano cannot stay ahead of John Moran.
00:09:43
There was just no chance draw Moran.
00:09:44
Have a really nice game against the Lakers and I.
00:09:49
I am fully expecting that.
00:09:51
With Rondo continuing to get these types of minutes, Lakers defensive efficiency is probably going to drop down even a little bit more.
00:09:58
The Lakers are supposed to be reevaluating Avery Bradley after they finish this four game road trip.
00:10:03
So they play at San Antonio tomorrow night and then at the Pelican.
00:10:07
So in Anthony Davis makes is return back to New Orleans on Wednesday, the night before Thanksgiving, and then Bradley will be re evaluated before the Lakers game against the Wizards.
00:10:19
I don't know too much about I think it's like a hairline fracture, his some non weight bearing bone, so I'm not a doctor, but I would assume, since it's a non weight bearing bone, that's probably better and should be a shorter timetable for them to return.
00:10:33
I've sat on other videos.
00:10:34
How the Lakers just kind of don't tell the truth.
00:10:38
We're Yeah, they don't tell the truth.
00:10:41
They they say One time Lemon ends up being a much, much longer timeline.
00:10:45
So they had said from the get go that this time they actually kind of changed their words instead of he'll be out for 1 to 2 weeks.
00:10:52
They said, Avery Bradley will be re evaluated and 1 to 2 weeks and everyone took that as, Oh, it'll be back in 1 to 2 weeks.
00:10:58
No, he's gonna be reevaluated, which is exactly what the Lakers were doing.
00:11:02
So I guess.
00:11:04
Yeah, technically didn't say that.
00:11:06
He's going to be back, but it's still not a great look because of Avery.
00:11:10
Bradley doesn't come back soon, then fans naturally really be blaming him, not the Lakers, because old Laker said he'll be back in 1 to 2 weeks.
00:11:18
Why isn't he must be soft, which is not the case at all.
00:11:22
I hope Avery Bradley's back for the game against the Wizards and then moving forward because to start December, they're gonna need him defensively.
00:11:29
He's a big part of what they do on defense, and I just hope that he gets healthy.
00:11:34
But again, I'm not a doctor.
00:11:35
I don't know what's gonna happen.
00:11:36
We'll just have to hope for the best.
00:11:38
But some other things that I've noticed over the course of the Lakers seven game winning streak is the veil.
00:11:44
McGee has played much better than he did to start the year.
00:11:47
Some of that is maybe, just look role players In general, they don't play all 82 games consistently at the same level.
00:11:55
They have their ups and downs, just like MBA stars and superstars do.
00:11:59
It's just obviously not as loud when role players are struggling.
00:12:03
It's just when you're a member of the Lakers, especially when the Lakers are good.
00:12:07
Even if you're a role player and you're struggling, you're going to be criticized more than really anyone else.
00:12:12
So it's definitely something that has maybe gotten more, has definitely got more attention than it would if Javale McGee was on really any other team.
00:12:23
But over the course of these last few games, I don't have his exact numbers in front of me.
00:12:28
I believe before the Grizzlies game over the course of their last six games before that.
00:12:34
So their winning streak up until that point, the G was averaging.
00:12:37
I think it was 8.
00:12:39
2 points and 7.
00:12:41
8 rebounds, so pretty good numbers from him.
00:12:46
For someone who plays roughly 15 to 20 minutes, if that's usually around 15 minutes a night, so it's really good numbers.
00:12:54
He's definitely picked up his slack.
00:12:56
Dwight Howard's continued to play well.
00:12:58
He hasn't had any.
00:13:00
Oh, wow.
00:13:01
He is really good type of games from just a general fan perspective where he's not popping out.
00:13:07
Look at all the impact that he's making, but he's continuing to make a really big impact.
00:13:11
He has not had one game this year with less than five rebounds, which is really big because you give him those 20 minutes a night.
00:13:17
You know he's going to go out rebound.
00:13:19
He's in defending hard.
00:13:21
I've noticed that his vertical while over the course of the 1st 10 15 games, it was slowly working its way up to what is now probably his Max over the course of these last few games and midnight to speed last night.
00:13:36
It might just be fresh in my head, but I noticed he isn't getting quite a CZ high when he's jumping, and it might just be from last night, the second night of a back to back.
00:13:44
And that's what's precious in my head.
00:13:46
But that's something that I've noticed a little bit.
00:13:48
It's just the course of the N B A season.
00:13:50
People players were gonna get sore.
00:13:52
They're gonna get banged up.
00:13:54
Not saying Dwight Howard is necessarily either of those, but it's just it's wear and tear on the body by.
00:13:59
Howard only played nine games last year, so well, see, I really hope that he continues to play at the same level that he has up until this point.
00:14:07
But if if not, as long as he can recapture that type of energy by the time playoffs come around where there are Yeah, uh, he had a really ugly I injury against Oklahoma City Thunder on Tuesday night in L.
00:14:24
A E ended up his I was literally bleeding.
00:14:28
The Lakers called it an eye abrasion and he ended up he was out the rest of that night, even though he was listed as he could come back and play if they needed them to.
00:14:37
Luckily, they didn't. They got the win.
00:14:39
And then Friday in Oklahoma City, Hi, Cosmo played, played with James Worthy Type Goggles on, and he played decent.
00:14:49
I think he hit his 1st 3 shots or something even didn't hit another field goal after that.
00:14:53
It's just It kind of sucks with Kyle Kuzma because you think back to the summer when you explain the Team USA how you're playing really well with them and then he gets injured with a Natal injury, can't play anymore.
00:15:05
He ends up missing all of preseason, started the regular season, gets back from his injury and the first few games.
00:15:12
He looks horrible both offensively and defensively, and then, after about three or four games, he starts to find his groove and starts to shoot the ball.
00:15:22
Really well.
00:15:23
I think the last five or six games before he entered to die, he was shooting like 45% from three point range or something ridiculous like that, which I never thought he'd shoot that well the rest of the season, but maybe around 37 38%.
00:15:38
I would absolutely 1000% take that.
00:15:40
He shot 38% his rookie year, so I don't think it's ridiculous or even a little bit absurd.
00:15:48
To think that he could shoot around that again, maybe even up to around 40%.
00:15:51
He's put in a lot of hard work, but he was shooting that well and then he injured his eye and it's just this trend that's kind of emerging of Kyle Kuzma.
00:16:01
As soon as he starts to get going and playing really well, he gets injured.
00:16:05
And then he asked.
00:16:06
We're his way back room and I know he didn't miss any games with this eye injury, but he was seeing the basket really well.
00:16:13
And now with this injury adjust these last two games, you won't let me pull up what he did against the Thunder.
00:16:19
He waas four for six from the field, one for three from three.
00:16:25
He played 26 minutes.
00:16:26
He had 10 points again against the Thunder in Oklahoma City.
00:16:29
He made his 1st 3 shots and they were all early, so it only took three shots after that.
00:16:34
Maybe just a little bit timid to take those shots.
00:16:37
And then last night he only had five points.
00:16:40
Played 25 minutes, only shot three shots, one for three from the field, one for one from three point range, two for three from the free throw line.
00:16:48
So I guess it's just more him not being aggressive.
00:16:53
And maybe part of it is just him wearing the protective eyewear.
00:16:57
Who knows? I'm speculating a little bit with that, but Kyle coups Madras hasn't been the same player of these last two games, and I hope that starting Monday night against the Spurs, we see him start to be more aggressive, like he was being over the course of these last five or six games before he got injured moving on to LeBron and Anthony Davis.
00:17:17
I guess I'll start with LeBron James.
00:17:19
So last night against the Grizzlies, his streak of I believe it was seven straight games.
00:17:24
Having 10 plus assists was broken.
00:17:27
He finished with.
00:17:28
That was either +46 assists.
00:17:30
Let me get to that really quickly.
00:17:32
He had four assists, so he finished with, but he saw 30 points, 30 points, six rebounds or assists yet five turnovers.
00:17:41
That something that when the Lakers played the Hawks on last Sunday, which I was at that game and it was a really fun game, Lakers are up 32 6 and kind of cruise from their own.
00:17:51
LeBron had.
00:17:52
I think it was 10 assists.
00:17:53
He had zero turnovers in that game, and that was incredible.
00:17:57
But ever since then, he's just been struggling. The turnovers.
00:18:01
He had five against the Grizzlies last night, only four assists.
00:18:04
That's really rare that you ever see withdrawn with more turnovers than assists in the game that happened against the Grizzlies, only shot two for nine from three.
00:18:12
Which that? Probably Yeah, I would say for sure.
00:18:17
The biggest critique I have with LeBron James this year is not even his free throw shooting, which hasn't been great this year.
00:18:25
It's dipped down to 70.8%.
00:18:27
He got off to a really good start from the line.
00:18:29
I think he was like 82 or 83% from the line five or six games in.
00:18:34
So that means he's really been struggling since then.
00:18:38
But my biggest critique with him is his three point shooting, which is right now at 33.3%.
00:18:44
You need to be better.
00:18:45
He finished last year, 33.9%.
00:18:47
But last year, before he got injured, he was shooting the 3.
00:18:51
3 pointer. Really well.
00:18:54
I think he was up around 37% or something like that, which is phenomenal.
00:19:00
And he was taking a lot of three's, too.
00:19:02
And they were deep threes that he was making it, something that he just at least from the start of the year two.
00:19:09
Now he's showing more of a willingness to shoot threes, which is something that that's the first step he needs to get that confidence because part of shooting is not.
00:19:22
And if the defense is going to give you those open trumps, you have to take up and the Bron James to start the year against the Clippers, especially that first game of the season that is ingrained into my memory that when the Clippers regarding him any time someone came to set a high ball screen for the Bron James, whoever was guarding LeBron went underneath the screen didn't even fight that hard to get around it because they were daring him to shoot it and he was not shooting it.
00:19:49
He'd shot like one or two from out there, but he very easily could have shot 10 threes on the night.
00:19:54
And even if they weren't all going in, Lakers lost the game anyways.
00:19:57
But just oh, you ought to take those shots because that is going to open up so much more of his game and the game for everyone else, too.
00:20:07
But when the defense can kind of just stack the pain for LeBron James, that's not gonna work.
00:20:13
He has shown clearly a willingness to shoot mid range jumpers as well, which obviously are not the most statistically or ****ytically efficient shot in basketball.
00:20:24
But he gets a good amount of them.
00:20:25
So, yeah, for LeBron James just shooting the three, but also just a willingness to take the three.
00:20:31
That's something that, with raised on raw no.
00:20:34
So, like when I talk about Rondo, not not me.
00:20:38
Me not being a fan of Rondeau playing minutes with LeBron James.
00:20:42
It isn't just the fact that rage on Rondo isn't a very good three point shooter.
00:20:47
He's shooting from three, actually, for the year.
00:20:50
Let me get to that one for five against the Grizzlies.
00:20:53
So that's gonna bring his three point percentage, no shooting 35% from three on the year, which that's not bad at all.
00:21:01
I would absolutely take a point guard who could do that.
00:21:03
Now Rondo doesn't really bring anything defensively, so it's not just, oh, he can shoot three, so that's fine.
00:21:10
And now we're going to get a benefit from him playing because he isn't adding anything on the defensive side of the side of the vault.
00:21:18
But with Rondo only shooting, let's see.
00:21:21
He's averaging 3.
00:21:22
33 pointers for game, and he's playing almost 22 minutes for game.
00:21:28
It's not gonna cut it because that's the thing that I'm talking about with whoever's playing alongside LeBron James Rondo.
00:21:36
At the very least, I just want to see when he's open and LeBron James dishes the ball to him for an open three takes the three, which sounds weird because I don't really want Rondo shooting that much or playing that much.
00:21:48
But when Ron nose open, take the three, don't hesitate.
00:21:52
That's the thing that really bugs me, too.
00:21:54
Is that a lot of times when Rondo does get an open look from LeBron or someone else.
00:21:58
He'll end up taking the three, but before he does, he'll hesitate and let the defense get sat.
00:22:03
Someone will rotate over to try to contest them instead of this catch and shoot.
00:22:06
And I don't know what Rondo is shooting on catch and shoot threes, but I do remember making a good amount of the threes that he'd made that he's made.
00:22:16
It's catching shoot threes, so just don't be hesitant to shoot those the same thing.
00:22:21
That same advice that the Lakers gave Anthony Davis and he played really well.
00:22:28
I'll get to him in a second I see from our coup. Three.
00:22:31
He's a thunder fan, but congrats on the two dubs against us.
00:22:35
Thank you.
00:22:36
The thunder played really well.
00:22:37
You should be really excited about what the Thunder have in the future. They have.
00:22:42
I'm not mad, by the way.
00:22:44
I'm glad it's It's fun, though, to see home in home.
00:22:47
Siri's I wish of the N B A.
00:22:49
Would do this a little more.
00:22:51
Where team plays two games against each other in a row where it's one teams at home, then the other one.
00:22:56
It's a little like kind of meaning.
00:22:59
Playoff feel.
00:23:00
I know the thunder.
00:23:01
Aren't Demi making the playoffs this year, which are 23? I'm sure you can probably agree, but it's it's fun just to have that type of atmosphere.
00:23:10
But the thunder.
00:23:11
I've been impressed with what you guys have been doing the entire year.
00:23:14
Chego Js Alexander has looked really good.
00:23:17
He just continues to improve, and I think he's gonna be a really good player in this league.
00:23:22
Will make some All Star teams.
00:23:23
I don't want to say a star yet.
00:23:25
He's a really good player.
00:23:26
You guys have the meal gallon, Ari, who? You guys can probably flip for some assets at the trade deadline.
00:23:32
He is a really good asset being a cowboy, saying It's hard.
00:23:35
Yeah, that's pretty hard.
00:23:37
That was a tough loss against the Patriots today, but, um, yeah, probably be happy with that one, too.
00:23:43
I didn't think it was gonna be that close for you guys.
00:23:45
I If you miss the beginning of the show in a Packers fan wearing my Packers jersey game against the 40 Niners was awful.
00:23:53
Um so, yeah, at least you and some hope.
00:23:56
I didn't think the Packers we're gonna be contenders this year, even when they started off.
00:24:01
Well, it's just their defense is not nearly good enough.
00:24:03
Their offenses way to three.
00:24:05
And they rely so much on the running backs in the passing game because they just have no wide receiver or tight end held outside of Davante.
00:24:13
Adams, who's been injured for half the year.
00:24:16
Give me Green has been terrible this year and last year, ever since the ago.
00:24:23
Yeah, I agree with that, but as a Packer, saying, I'm very happy that you guys have kept him forest long as you have, and I hope you guys keep him.
00:24:31
But if he does end up leaving, I would be shocked if Lincoln Riley isn't the next coach.
00:24:35
So I hope you enjoy Lincoln Riley because you guys fire him.
00:24:39
That's who's gonna be your next 10 coach.
00:24:41
But going back to the Lakers and the thunder really quickly, just you have a lot of stuff, too.
00:24:46
Be excited about Sam Presti is one of the best general managers in the N B A.
00:24:51
What he's able to do in a market.
00:24:53
A small is Oklahoma City is phenomenal.
00:24:56
And even with the thunder trading way, Paul George and Chris Paul, there's still a competitive.
00:25:01
Not Chris Paul.
00:25:02
Trading away Paul George and Russell Westbrook.
00:25:04
They got Chris Paul for Russell Westbrook, along with draft picks.
00:25:07
There's still a really competitive team, and that's something that when I was when the Lakers were bad and they had all of their young players, I watched every single game I was in college.
00:25:18
I come home from class and just watch it on my iPad, even when they were awful and they were getting destroyed because I just wanted to see how the young players looked.
00:25:27
And that's something that is pretty exciting when even though you're not supposed to be a good team, they're still remaining competitive and in a lot of games under gave the Clippers some trouble the night before.
00:25:38
They played the Lakers on Tuesday and yeah, I mean, obviously, with all of the draft picks you guys have going forward, you guys have what, like 11 or 12 1st round picks in the next five or six years, so us, we're gonna be good, give you guys a few years and you guys will be really good.
00:25:55
I think there's still a Chris Paul trade to be worked out at some point where you get even more assets for him.
00:26:00
Same thing with Neil Gallinari.
00:26:02
Obviously, I'd like for you guys that find a suitable trade partner for Steven Adams, but I don't know if he has a ton of value, so we'll see what happens.
00:26:13
I'm glad you agree with this stuff.
00:26:14
And, yeah, I tried tojust keep track of everything going on in the n B A.
00:26:19
But, yeah, thunder of a really bright future.
00:26:21
So you should be really excited about that.
00:26:23
Going back to the Lakers, though, so talked about LeBron James.
00:26:27
Talked about the veil.
00:26:28
McGee, Kyle Kuzma, Dwight Howard raised on raw.
00:26:30
Know what? I'd like to see him improved.
00:26:32
Last player I want to talk about is obviously Anthony Davis.
00:26:36
Anthony Davis has been really good this past week after having a few games where he kind of just floated around against the Hawks.
00:26:44
He didn't have his first rebound until almost at the end of the third quarter.
00:26:48
That was something.
00:26:50
I was joking with my friends and I was at the game.
00:26:52
I was in the third quarter and I said, Wow, I have sat through over half of a game that Anthony Davis has played in first game I've ever seen him play live and I still have yet to witness Anthony Davis. Grab a rebound.
00:27:04
So Davis is rebounding.
00:27:06
Numbers have gone down this year.
00:27:08
Obviously, they're down around.
00:27:09
I think, like 9.
00:27:10
2 or 9.
00:27:11
5 for the year.
00:27:12
Think it'll probably end up around 10 for the year? I'd like to see him in double digit rebounds, but that was to be expected with this Lakers team that they have a lot of other really good rebounders.
00:27:23
Obviously, LeBron James is one of the best small forwards slash our lord rebounders that the MBA has seen Dwight Howard and today only G both.
00:27:35
We're going to grab their rebounds as well, so I wasn't expecting Davis, too.
00:27:39
Get to around 13 rebounds, which I think is what he was averaging last year before the pelican started sitting him and he still finished with 12.
00:27:47
5 rebounds on the year or something right around there.
00:27:51
But I'd like to see him get a little bit better with grabbing rebounds and also just being able to push the pace from rebounding it sometimes.
00:27:58
So grab the rebound outlet to a point guard, but there are times where it will just take the ball and get down the court.
00:28:04
And it's just that puts so much pressure on the opposing defense when you have a six foot 10 gazelle handling the ball running down the court and he look, he's a former point guard before he had his ridiculous growth spurt in high school.
00:28:17
So he obviously knows how to handle the ball.
00:28:19
But really happy with what Anthony Davis has been able to do shooting wise.
00:28:25
Are you through our coup? Three.
00:28:28
Wow, I can't talk right now.
00:28:29
Our coup three.
00:28:30
Saying Frank Vogel was a good hire.
00:28:32
Yeah, I agree.
00:28:33
That's one other thing.
00:28:34
I'm glad that you brought up Frank Vogel because I was going to completely forget about talking about him.
00:28:39
I ask before I talk about Anthony Davis just really quickly.
00:28:42
Frank Vogel.
00:28:43
I've been really, really happy with what Frank Vogel has done so far.
00:28:47
My biggest critique for him would just be.
00:28:51
I mean, obviously, I'd like to see Rondo not play as many minutes, and that would obviously help the Lakers defensive efficiency.
00:28:57
But more than that, just kind of match ups with the three guard lineups.
00:29:02
I'm really not a fan of that.
00:29:04
And I know, especially when Kyle Kuzma was injured against the Thunder on Tuesday night.
00:29:09
It's really tough to play to not play three guards at a time at some point, just because the Lakers don't have very many bigs and wings.
00:29:18
They have two centers, obviously, and White Veil.
00:29:20
Anthony Davis is a four slash five.
00:29:23
Many of the Bronco your wing slash forwards everyone else old Danny Green, too.
00:29:30
But Danny Green only plays.
00:29:32
He's never averaged 30 minutes per game for his career, so you can't have him out there for too much.
00:29:38
It also obviously like to have him pretty rested for the playoffs so that maybe you can stretch him out for a little bit more minutes in the playoffs.
00:29:46
But that's the biggest thing, and I know that's kind of tough for Frank Bogo.
00:29:51
But those three guard lineups, they're really tough tow watch, especially just offensively defensively, depending on who's out there.
00:29:59
When you have Rondo and Quinn cook out there the defense is pretty atrocious, but, yeah, I guess.
00:30:07
One other thing.
00:30:08
I didn't really wanna mention it, but it's the coach's challenges from Frank Vogel.
00:30:12
I know that's a tiny thing, and that's honestly, it's so good to be.
00:30:17
I'm clearly nit picking.
00:30:18
Wind comes to Frank Vogel in this stuff because, like the three guard lineups, I even said it's pretty tough to do when you don't have many capable wing players out there.
00:30:27
Jared Dudley, I mentioned him, is one of the wing players, but he really shouldn't be getting many minutes.
00:30:33
Troy Daniels.
00:30:34
I'm not a fan of at all, either.
00:30:35
He's a six foot two guard, but it's tough to never have more than two guards on the court at once, when a good amount of your roster is guards, especially when you're forward slash big men are a little bit banged up, but, yeah, it's just nit picking from me.
00:30:49
The coaches challenge is stuff.
00:30:51
He's challenge some calls that either.
00:30:54
I just didn't think we're worth challenging or we're a little bit too early in the game where I thought, maybe save that for later on in the game.
00:31:01
Maybe you end up using the coaches challenge.
00:31:03
Maybe you don't, but at least you can have that in your back pocket where, if there is a big potential call that could be overturned with a few minutes left, Remember, refs can't review stuff by themselves until two minutes left in the fourth quarter, so why not just have that for yourself? But again, it's just nit picking.
00:31:23
From that standpoint, our Coup three says that he follows the Mavs here and there to Mavericks.
00:31:30
If you're a maverick san, you have a lot to be excited about more than if you're a thunder fan.
00:31:34
Just for the time being right now, Luca Don Keech looks so good.
00:31:38
I forgot who it was on Twitter.
00:31:40
It might have been, Chris Palmer said, Boo ba donk itch is better at this age, then LeBron James was at this age, which I never thought that I'd be saying.
00:31:50
I don't agree with that at all. Luke.
00:31:52
A dunk it also, at this age, I believe this was LeBron's third year in the N B A, which is third year in the n B.
00:31:58
A.
00:31:59
He was averaging like 27 seven and seven or some something crazy like that and also as good as Luca Duncan trees.
00:32:07
Offensively, he is a liability on pecans.
00:32:10
And that's something that LeBron James, even when he didn't play care too much to play defense in the past.
00:32:15
He has never been a liability on defense, to the point where opposing players and teams and coaches would seek him out to match up hunt against him and have him guard someone because they knew that if they did that, he was gonna take the challenge and he was gonna play good defense.
00:32:30
Luca Dog.
00:32:31
It is not capable of playing good defense, and it's not just part of it, is Luca Don Keech is not nearly not anywhere close to the athlete that LeBron James is and then obviously hurts him on the defensive side of the ball.
00:32:45
As good as Luca Donk inches with his instincts on offense, he doesn't have very good defensive instincts, which is something that LeBron James obviously hasn't.
00:32:54
Having something that any good defensive player has is good instincts.
00:32:59
But Luca Duncan is very good and he's firmly in the discussion for the M V P race, which I did not think was going to be the case before the season started, but he's looked good.
00:33:10
Perceptive Porzingis is look good.
00:33:12
You guys obviously have a great coach and Rick Carlisle, the supporting cast around Luca Dung kich and Chris at Sports Angus has been really good, too, and I am excited to see what happens.
00:33:23
Moving forward.
00:33:24
I'm excited to see Luca hopefully make the playoffs this year and see what he can do in there.
00:33:28
I think he shines really, really brightly when the stage is at its brightest.
00:33:34
So it'll be fun.
00:33:35
Who do the Lakers play next? They play the Spurs tomorrow.
00:33:38
So Spurs have been sliding.
00:33:39
It's in San Antonio, although it's the third game of Ah! Four game road trip.
00:33:44
And that's something that it's always interesting when the Lakers go up against the Spurs.
00:33:49
Gregg Popovich is not a fan of the Lakers.
00:33:51
I respect the hell out of Grand Popovich.
00:33:54
I think that he is the best head coach and n BA history, but I do not like him.
00:33:59
I do not like the San Antonio Spurs.
00:34:01
I would love for us to beat the Spurs in San Antonio.
00:34:04
They've been struggling, but I really don't think that it's gonna be an easy game.
00:34:07
Last time the Lakers were in San Antonio, which is crazy letters already after tomorrow night, Lakers will have played two games in San Antonio.
00:34:16
But last time they were in San Antonio earlier this year, they ended up winning.
00:34:19
But they got up by 20 in the third quarter, and then the Spurs fought back.
00:34:23
I will never count the Spurs out of a game.
00:34:26
I will never count him out.
00:34:27
Playoff emanated.
00:34:31
But tomorrow night, Lakers versus the Spurs.
00:34:34
I believe outside at 5 30 Pacific time.
00:34:38
It'll be a fun game.
00:34:39
I'm excited to see that really quickly, though, before I get out of here just going back to Anthony Davis.
00:34:47
Him shooting.
00:34:48
He has shot so much better from outside mid range and three point.
00:34:53
That was the biggest thing I was concerned about to start this year.
00:34:57
Now, obviously, his rebounding.
00:34:59
I'd like to see improve and just his ease of shots that he gets making his shots a little bit easier, which the Lakers have done a better job of over the last few games and the yeah, Anthony Davis just he's been able to shoot the ball much better.
00:35:16
So to start the year he was not hitting his mid range shots, his three point percentage was below 20%.
00:35:22
And that was a legitimate concern for me because part of what Anthony they What makes Anthony Davis so good is his ability to shoot from outside because that makes his opponent have to come out and guard him.
00:35:33
And Anthony Davis is quicker than pretty much anyone who's gonna be guarding him.
00:35:38
You couple that with his ability to handle the ball the way that he does.
00:35:42
And he just becomes such a more special player than he already is When he's hitting shots from outside Last night against the Grizzlies, Anthony Davis had to four point plays.
00:35:52
Believe it.
00:35:53
Yeah, it was against the Grizzlies.
00:35:55
I was thinking it might have been against the thunder, but yeah, against the Grizzlies, he had to four point plays.
00:35:59
He had never had a four point play before in his nb a career over the course of his first thing was like 539 games.
00:36:06
He had zero of them.
00:36:07
It is 540th yet, too, but he shot the ball really well.
00:36:11
as of late from deep.
00:36:12
He finished last night, three of six from three.
00:36:16
Pulling up his three point percent on the year so far is up to 36%.
00:36:21
I am really surprised that it's that I was thinking is gonna be around 32 33%.
00:36:26
But he started the year so bad from the outside I would have to imagine over the course of the last four or five games he's probably shooting at least 40% from three, which I don't think that that's sustainable.
00:36:41
But I mean obviously hope and I would take that it is sustainable.
00:36:45
But if he didn't shoot 36% from three for the rest of the year, 100% take that.
00:36:51
And so I'm just really happy to see what he continues to do.
00:36:54
Moving forward and just how that changes.
00:36:57
You know, I talked earlier about the Lakers offensive efficiency and how having Rondo there and especially Hyo Koosman helps Anthony Davis being able to hit outside shots and hit three pointers.
00:37:08
That helps more than anything else that opens it up so much more.
00:37:11
And if LeBron James concerned hitting his threes the way that he was last year before he got injured.
00:37:17
That just makes the Lakers offense that much more scary.
00:37:20
So well, see, that's the stuff that I want that I'm gonna be looking for.
00:37:24
That's the stuff you guys should be looking for two to see.
00:37:26
If that stuff continues, I will be back on.
00:37:30
Let's see.
00:37:31
I'll try to be back on sometime early next week, maybe with a pregame preview for one of the Lakers games are our 23 I have lied past so I might tune in thing you're talking about.
00:37:41
The Lakers Spurs game tomorrow.
00:37:43
You should anytime.
00:37:44
Lakers play the Spurs, whether it's in L.
00:37:45
A or San Antonio, it's always a really good game.
00:37:48
And again, I said how I don't like the Spurs.
00:37:50
I'm not a fan of the Spurs, but I respect the hell out of them.
00:37:54
I respect the hell out of Gregg Popovich.
00:37:56
I do like watching the Spurs just because the ball movement from the Spurs, unlike any other team in basketball and it's so beautiful to watch.
00:38:04
So yeah, anytime you can watch the Spurs playing, especially it Spurs and Lakers, you get to watch the brawn.
00:38:10
Anthony Davis and the Gregg Popovich coach team.
00:38:13
Yeah, do it.
00:38:14
I'll be doing it for sure.
00:38:15
And I'm kind of envious of you that you have the league pass.
00:38:18
I've been debating if I should splurge and spend the money on that.
00:38:22
And I might do that, but yeah, very, very happy for you that you have lied class.
00:38:29
And hopefully I'll be joining you soon.
00:38:31
But thank you guys so much for tuning in tonight.
00:38:33
Thank you Are 23 for being so active Interactive with me.
00:38:38
I really like doing the stuff.
00:38:40
I love this part of SportsCastr how people are able to type in their questions or comments.
00:38:45

00:01:17
4 p.
00:01:18

00:01:19
do.
00:38:33
