Carrie Napoleon l owe.
This team has been on the clock for four months now.
Why we taken is down to the four minute mark.
You know, you had you have 10 minutes here.
10 minutes here.
But you've had four months.
The dude's got 1000 and 21 text messages, as he hasn't read yet.
Did we not like, notice that Kevin Bryce Harper is a great player? He's very, very talented aside from last year.
But I blame myself.
I'm pretty sure I'm the reason for that.
Would fantasy baseball That's disgusting.
That's like, really I mean again.
I'm not I shouldn't need I'm not gonna be the kind of person that eighties.
Hey, he doing enough hating for the both of us as a Cowboys fan.
The expectations are so high, and it's just, you know, you're dug into the ground by the end of the season.
You're like, you're basically like what the Patriots are, but like you try to do it. But you just don't know.
Yeah, like, at least the Jets, you know? I mean, they have excuses.
This'd is running up the score.
Your one stop spot for all things scores.
Now, here's your host, Jerry Napoleon, Elo and Kevin Don Let all right, we're back.
It's Ah, it's been a while.
It has been a one a long time.
I mean, just, um, as I said, partially your fault.
Well, as as I said on Sunday was, it's Saturday.
Um, I did a little running up the score in the car.
Um, I wanted to see what people thought of it.
Maybe I'll do it more often.
You know, I got a long drive from Jersey with with my job.
So, um, my thing like, you know, I I basically I was just telling kind of like I wasn't telling everybody everything that has gone on, but just basically like personal stuff like, we just haven't been able to get together at the same time.
It's just schedule problems.
Um, you know, being sick or just, you know, work problems, you know, car problems, whatever it is that has come up for us in the last month and 1/2 or whatever.
Two months that it's been, um so now it's it's starting to It started to slow down for me.
The holidays are coming around.
So, um, with my job, you know, I've been getting off a little earlier, which is nice, eh? So we'll have more time to Ah, get together.
Just whatever your schedule is.
No, it'll be fun.
Yeah, I'm I'm not worried about it.
Um, as I said on Saturday, I'm planning on, you know, I want to do at least two shows a week.
Um, whether it be with you or by myself, whatever it is, I'm going to try to do that.
Um, and I also I also dropped a little something that I'm going to do a cowboy's podcast, too.
No, While that that's gonna be miserable for the average fan, Uh, the Cowboys don't really have much of it.
I mean, it's funny because I actually talked to a friend.
Maybe we'll do an island.
We probably should use it.
We'll get into that a little bit.
But first off, as I said on Saturday that I wanted to talk about this whole Astros thing, and it's just like I feel like every day something new comes out about this whole thing.
Um, now, like the latest thing was that they were wearing, like, a buzzer type thing on their hands.
Um, and whenever an off speed pitch would come, it would get buzzed.
I mean, it's it's absolutely insane to me.
Don't get me wrong.
Don't get me wrong.
If you know, if you guys know, um, John boy, you know, usually does Yankees podcast talking Yanks, But he's been, you know, he he kind of stays around in that, you know, baseball realm of every kind of news.
Um, he was the one that posted the video with the voice attached to it for the sa***es in the box, Um, with the Yankees.
So that was huge.
Ah, and then he did a breakdown when this whole Astros thing broke.
Now, first it first started off the athletic, um, posted the article.
They had, um, witnesses, as in mike fires, Um, who is on the team at the time.
And he basically told the athletic everything that they need to know.
Um What what they did, how they did it, where they did it.
Just just everything.
And then, you know, people started to go back at, like, the guy John boy.
Um, he went back watched the video on it, listening like I mean, you can There's a video.
He even posted it.
There's a video up of constant pitches and you can literally hear somebody banging on a garbage can.
It's crazy to me.
And, um, an ex Yankee pitcher Ah, um, Farquaad.
Ah, the one that had the the aneurysm.
I think it was He was playing at the time with white socks, and he heard it himself while he was pitching, and he noticed it to a point where he stopped, called the catcher out, changed the signs, and they didn't get the next officer be pitch.
So, um, you know, it's crazy when when you look at this and you see, uh, you know, we talk about steroids and we talked about how that was a cheating scandal and about how every you know how certain players should have been, you know, not in the Hall of Fame stuff like that.
Like they *****ed the game.
Almost this is that almost like another level and in so many ways, Yeah, you know, the game of baseball.
A big part of it is, you know, being able to change the speed of your pitches and being able to be effective in that regard.
And, you know, for you to go to levels like this off the field because this isn't happening on the field, the garbage can being hanged on the buzzer on the this is all off the field.
And now you're influencing a game of baseball.
And they were important games.
So they won the World Series in 2017 when it was like when it started.
So when you see something like this, occur it it's very detrimental to the game it is.
And whether anybody wants to believe it, um or even just this could be coming out of nowhere.
But the fact that Mike Fiers, like you said, this man being on the team and everything and coming out with these details, um, it's almost sickening.
Ah, you gotta remember this is again.
We talked about this about how guys who took steroids, these guys, when I'm getting humongous contracts and when you get humongous contracts beast on taking these steroids, we almost called it almost basically criminal.
And this is almost in the same regard because the Astros they won the World Series When you win the World Series, you get a bonus.
So in that regard, it's almost again thievery.
Oh, yeah, absolutely.
So you know when you're when you talk about all these aspects and all this, this is this is, honestly the most guaranteed version of cheating in the game of baseball.
And when you bring cheating into a professional sport and we all talk about this, there are four major sports.
Okay, you got the National Basketball Association, You got the Major League Baseball.
You got the National Football League and the National Hockey League.
The four major sports, Yes, everyone again, you know, soccer, great sport.
It's not big here, whether we like to admit it or not, you know, But there are four major sports and the fact that one of the four major sports is now talking about tch a cheating scandal.
Yeah, we saw what happened with the NFL.
There was a whole big thing with the NFL and cheating in many different ways, and it was a big deal.
This is not gonna go.
This is not gonna go away quickly.
It's only when I'm trying to say and also, um in the video I sent you.
Um, I sent you an article.
John boy did a ah, like an 11 minutes video.
Just basically updating everybody on what's going on? What has happened from start to finish to what we have right now? Supposedly, this is not the end of it.
They have more stuff to come out that will end up coming out.
Um, which is gonna be interesting.
Um, again, The Astros are not the only team that have done this.
They're just they The highway? Yeah, they took the next step.
But if this is going further than the Astros, then this is a big problem.
Just Major League Baseball has.
Right now, this is huge just because of the way that they're doing it.
Listen, I've played baseball, you know, my whole life going into going into college.
You played it as the same length of time.
You're two years older than me, so I mean, we played at the same time we played at the same high school, everything like that.
Um I know we like we would try to steal signs.
I mean, that's that's part of the game, but we didn't have a camera doing it from center field, pointing out the catcher and then, like videoing it or whatever they were doing to a guy in the bull in the dugout.
And he's banging on a, you know, a garbage can.
And now they have pictures off the set up that they had.
Now people are going back and seeing video of them in the, you know, walking through the tunnel to the clubhouse and you could see there's a table.
Um, at one point you see the garbage can that they use and there's a big wire coiled up right above it, which is, you know, why would there be a wire there? It could be anything, but I mean, that's that's where they said it was.
That's where Mike Fire says.
If this guy's coming out and talking about it openly like this, then there's no doubt about it, folks, that this is a true statement.
I don't need pictures.
I don't need videos to show me proof of this.
And right now, going forward, Major League baseball was a humongous problem is how do you stop this from happening? Well, that's because it's not just banging on a garbage it could be anything you could be popping chewing gum.
Well, that everything in the dugout it at a certain player popping, chewing gum.
The yes, very simple.
The Yankees heard whistling, and if you go back, there's, ah, few videos of you hearing it.
But at that point, you really can't tell if it's a fan or not.
Um, the banging is such a, you know, distinct sound.
And at the time that it was happening is just It's like you can't you can't play that off like, Oh, that was a fan like you can do it.
Um, but supposedly, um, also, they would do it.
If the crowd was too loud, they would have, Ah, someone in the bullpen either have their hands above the above defense or on the fans, depending on what the pitch waas.
You know, they they thought of everything.
There's e mails now that they got from, you know, Houston higher ups, asking scouts Thio to figure out how they can steal signs like they have e mails now and it's just getting to the point.
But my like my question now is, what do you do to this team? How do you punish this team? I mean, you like me.
That's the biggest problem about this incident.
Like we said, the Astros were the highlight of it.
Yeah, they were caught.
They're not the only team to have done it.
And the fact that they would have been so many significant games through the history of major league baseball.
And again, this is gonna be another steroid thing.
I don't think people even begin to understand how important this is.
Yeah, you know, when the steroid era came out in major league baseball, it was a big hit. Ratings.
Everything was a lot of people that really found the game almost.
Ah, I can't even give you, like, the right word to describe it, but it was almost attained.
It is what we've used before.
But it was just a different feel.
Yeah, with watching the game of baseball.
And now when you see an article like this, command, Now you've heard me in previous shows.
And you know, baseball for me is not the same of what he used to be growing up, watching it growing up, and ah, no, I have not watched baseball nearly as much as I did when I was a child, and it's because I grew up watching all these home runs and the Sammy Sosa's and the Mark McGwire's.
And then I saw why this was occurring.
And I wanna put in like a big, like, almost hit to the heart on that because you know what? You were watching Growing up was all basically fake.
And now here we are, you know, 15 years later.
And now we have this.
It makes you question that the last couple of years, you know, the winner of the world Siris worthy doing this now you can even bring the argument to the ash.
I mean, not the actual I'm sorry, the Nationals, who just basically just shocked the world by sweeping the Houston Astros.
And it makes you question now, could they have done something that really maybe, you know, gave away pitches and stuff like that? It's really gonna be a big problem for Major league baseball to try to clear this up.
Now, steroids was easy.
You, you drug test players on.
This is a lot more difficult.
Suspend them and suspend them, but But it's also a lot different.
You know, you see in college, um I mean, we saw what Reggie Bush.
You know, they take the Heisman away from him, or they take, you know, the national championship away from that school or whatever.
You can't take a world Siris away from a team first off second off.
I mean, like, at first, I think the manager said Should be suspended for the year.
Manager should be exciting.
I mean, we're talking like Pete Rose.
Oh, Rose still is not in the Hall of Fame, and he's really not even mentioned with a lot of things When it comes to baseball.
That ****es me off.
So I just So when you talk about that just for betting on a game, can you imagine even this scenario you're talking? You're talking about suspending a manager.
They should be removed from the game almost as well as Pete wrote honestly 10 times that, you know. I mean, it's a big problem.
Like in the video, he shows a tweet.
Um, I forget who the tweet was from, but basically it was showing, um, the strikeout numbers.
Ah, and the percentage of the Astros from 2000 now you know whatever 2010 2 2019 all the way up until 2017 they were like 15th in the league around that around that number, 15 20th from 17 to 19 1st 2nd and first.
So then you'd say all right, yet you know what they got.
As he said in the video, They got better players.
We understand that.
But it's also like then there's a chart that shows how the teams like every team was.
And it was like a straight line across the graph and then, boom.
The Astros are like off the map compared to the other teams.
And it's crazy because you know what? We always talk about the Astros as being a team that doesn't strike out a lot we But now we're like starting to get to the point where it's like we understand it.
There's also video of, um, Torino's The catcher for the Astros swings at an off speed pitch, and the buzzer that they said it could be comes off and hits the catcher in the head.
So, like you could see that something comes off flies and hits the mask you can't like.
He doesn't react like, obviously, it's not big enough to, like, react in that kind of a national make like it'll make people question it just as much as, absolutely.
You see someone hit 50 home runs like Aaron Judge in his rookie year and you question it, I mean against the Christmas Star.
Um, who is another one that I mean, not even doing that.
You'll see a guy coming into majorly beast.
Well, that never strikes out.
Yeah, and we're gonna crush your question is yes. Oh, absolutely.
Whether people want to admit it or not, the game is getting Maur and more ruined.
When you see things like this coming out, it's a big problem.
And it's a big issue that major league baseball really is going to have to.
You don't get on top of this off season, but it's not gonna be removed completely.
And that's the biggest problem.
No matter what you're able to dio, there's so many different ways that a team conduce the nonsense that the Houston Astros were finally caught doing and just cause the Astros were caught does not mean that the other teams the other 31 teams in major league baseball have done something very similar.
Yeah, it doesn't have to be exact.
Doesn't have to be, you know, as extensive as a buzzer or cameras in center field.
A simple, you know, again.
Like I said, you got a guy could just be popping his chew gum.
There was joint go.
There was ways that that we would do it, like in high school and stuff like that.
I was basically you were looking at the be honest.
I never I played baseball my whole life.
The whole concept of doing that.
Like like I felt like we felt like it was part of the game.
Like that was, you know, that was the deal.
Like it was part of the game.
Um, that that's, you know, I mean, this whole idea of UAL this happening never came through money.
We never like, really gone off and did a lot.
But like, if you notice that the catcher, I mean, from where our dugout was, if you can see his fingers while he was crouched, then we were just trying to like, you know, we would do, um, you know, for a fastball, we would say the batter's last name for Ah, curveball.
We would say, you know, stuff like that, but it's not like and that's that's, like, 25% you know? No, I know, like a way of it working.
Um, but this using technology And you can see how fast, how fast you can see that and hear that bang compared to the sign being dropped.
The picture, Of course, it was just It was crazy to me how fast it And like, that's how you can tell that it was technology like they're literally seeing it live feed.
And it's happening like that.
And it was crazy.
But I mean, as you were saying, This is a problem for baseball and another league has a problem.
It's the National Hockey League, and the problem is the New York Islanders. **** right.
Um I mean, this is we've never seen something like this.
And we thought last year was good.
We, you know, we thought they'll see the best way I can put this so that people can understand why the New York Islanders have had the success that they've had.
Um, it really comes from that you know it.
Barry Trotz? Yeah.
And you know, I had a friend actually tell me one day I was talking with him about this, and he said to me and he was so spot on with this.
And he said, Barry Trotz is the best coach in all of New York sports.
And that second place, any one of those not even close.
There's not a single person in the same boat, not as Barry Trotz right now.
And he really especially in New York.
Especially like you can add the Lakers head coach, the Dallas head coach, the Cowboys.
You can handle that.
You know, you can have some, you know, all of them to the mix.
But I'm I'm all for it.
First of all, I thought Aaron Boone should have one coach of the year, but, you know, manager of the year, But we'll we'll get to that when you have your own.
When you have a 200 something else again, again.
That's where it comes to the point.
The guy had a $200 million team.
No, you gotta win the World Series, but I'm not trying to go.
The topic with us right now? I don't know, but I'm going to go.
We'll talk about that later.
But the truth is it isn't it.
Gary trots literally was the best head coach, and he still is in all of New York.
And nobody's even close to it. Absolutely.
Would you know, the Islanders are not at the salary cap ceiling right now.
No. And you know they're not.
I mean, when you look at the players that they have other than bars are you know, you're not looking at top players.
I mean, you guys do the right thing literally the bill bill check of the hockey in the national hockey with this team, you know, if we're gonna compare to a baseball team or whatever.
This team is like the 97 98.
Well, more like the 98 99 Yankees, where it was at the time they were.
There were no names.
I mean, you had Derek Jeeter.
That was in two years in the league.
Jorge Posada, who was just coming up.
You have Mariana Rivera, who was started out as a starter, then moved toe Thio.
You know, a relief pitcher um, setup man for John Wetteland.
So, like these these guys were were no name, you know, homegrown Scott.
Ferocious, you know.
See, the thing is, with these different teams like we're talking about and about the Islanders is that these guys have a role.
Yeah, and they play it very well.
You have a certain what is expected of you from your head coach.
There's an understanding for you know what's expected at someone like Casey Cizikas, who's actually been playing unbelievable the best hockey have ever seen.
And we're talking not just on the offensive side on the defensive side as well.
And these guys are getting back did.
There's no odd man rushes and system that Barry Trotz has got going right now is quite effective, and there's no doubt about it.
Um, you know, everyone talks about Thomas Greiss being one of the best goaltenders in hockey right now, and we're already talking about getting rid of him.
I mean, everyone talked about how locked the year before.
Well, you know, one of the best.
Then you had, you know, Then you had Leonard.
Last year was Leonard.
It was like a lot.
Leonard Gryce It's gonna be all in a row.
And now you're going to see as each one goes, the gold pending.
The goaltender is going away.
The gold Town is going away, but the production is still there.
The goaltending and the goal percentage and it's still there.
It's still at the top of the league.
Yeah. Top finding to do it.
Everything to do with this coaching it's approaching is approaching its the system.
It's It's everything.
What would change everything? Yes, I know.
We got new owners, which was huge for us.
Um, they get us finally, get us a new arena.
Um, better be state of the art.
I can't wait, um and, you know, trying to threaten anyone.
It needs to be a state of the art arena, But, you know, you're bringing guys like, you know, Thomas Grace was a backup, you know, it's ah, and he comes in with the Islanders, then, you know, they bring in Lennar.
And he was a back up again, and he was still putting up just as good numbers.
So it gets to a point now, you know, and you're you're hearing it more often, executives in the NHL are saying, to be successful in this league now you need to have two good goalies.
And it's crazy because you look at, you know, top goalies, like, you know at the time.
You know, a couple of years ago you had Henrik Lundquist, who was, you know, he the guy played most of their games and he was great growing up, even in 19.
Going beyond Henrik Lund was talk about Patrick, why Chris Osgood had so many good goaltenders in the league.
But really, your goaltending is really gonna be just as good as your defence.
And you need to have the defense.
It from the ST Louis Blues have been doing this for honestly 10 years, and I've been watching it nonstop.
Guys like, you know, that wasn't Josh Jake Allen like the These were goaltenders that wound up going elsewhere beyond and not being productive whatsoever.
So it just shows that it's all it's a value of this system as opposed to the goaltending, and you know that's going on and, you know, for the island is right now.
Ah, you know, the sky's the limit.
You know, the confidence level is at an all time high for them.
And, uh, yeah, they're just really hitting a hot streak right now.
You know, teams do this twice.
Seems like that's a thing like, you know, they go on the 10 game winning streak they lose in overtime to the team that they're playing tonight in the Pittsburgh Penguins.
Um, who's, you know, obviously, Penguins have always been a good team, you know, ever since getting Sidney Crosby.
And then even before that, too, you know, married women and all that.
But you know, not here or there.
But, you know, you go on that street 10 10 in a row, you lose in overtime.
Now it's finally like, Wow, we lost the game, but it still wasn't in the loss column.
We start off the season one and three everybody like, wanted to like, you know, close it up.
Like even with John Harrison when he was on the team, this team would start 51 and two and all these kind of great starts, and then it would just go toe good crap so it really hockey is a game of streaking.
It's a confidence level.
You need to hit the ice and have the confidence level really above your head.
And if the island is right now is exactly what you're seeing.
You're seeing a team that's literally going out there with the pure confidence.
Right now they're playing the best hockey that I've seen them ever play.
And I've been watching this team almost 25 years.
Yeah, that's Zo.
I'm saying it's like it's creatively said to say that, but it's 25 years I've been watching this team and, you know, to actually, you know, finally start seeing the production from, especially after losing our best player.
I mean, it was mystifying to me last year, but this year you get more of a really, you know, idea of what's happening, and your account is just have the right guys in place, right? Well, that's the thing.
Like the Islanders were always the joke.
Were always that the delay up on the schedule, Um and then especially just being in New York and having to deal with the Rangers, um, and the Ranger fans and, you know, having to deal with you know, everybody saying where the little brother, um to see the Islanders this morning.
Number one in the league in the power rankings is incredible.
It's it had to use your word.
I mean, it's it's on.
Last year for me was mystifying. I was here.
That's why I'm standing as to what's going on.
Why the production is there.
As crazy as last year was, as you know, unbelievable and great.
This year's taking it up to a new level, you know? Now what are we on a 14 game point streak? Um, you know, it's it's unbelievable and, you know, they keep, they keep getting points.
Whether it be one or two, it's huge.
It's been too long, too, a lot out.
I mean, the last.
You know what? I guess that the point streak was 14 games, so 13 of those were two points, so I mean, it's crazy, and I mean, I'm just enjoying.
I'm enjoying, you know, you got to take it one more time.
I think these players on straight and you know, you you take it one at a time and you know, that's that's really the approach that you gotta have.
You gotta have the approach that you know you can't fast forward.
You can go straight to the point of a long season and you know, me personally, I would like the honor is to be playing like this, maybe at the end of a week or two before we get to the playoffs.
But I think the fact that they're capable of doing it and playing like this Ah, it's Ah, it's soothing.
What do we always say going in or even all the other teams say, going into the playoffs? A lot of people don't want to play in the Coliseum.
You know, a lot of teams don't want to play in the Coliseum because it gets so loud.
Now we keep, we keep playing this way.
Now, mind you, you know, for our home.
Ice is supposed to be Barclay Center.
This year, out of the 41 home games, I think we're only playing.
I think it's 18 games at the Barclay Center, all the rest of the Coliseum, which is huge for us, especially being on Long Island.
Um, because Brooklyn is just a pain in the ass to get to, um wasn't too bad for me from her.
Well, yeah, yeah, I have a couple beers.
Take the train to worry about.
Driving is it was quite convenient for me.
But I mean, for how the way we are.
The arena generals not meant for us Exactly.
And, you know, just we keep playing at this at this level or even if we start to come back down the earth but still getting the points that we need and winning the games that we need to win, You know, you're looking at the chance of getting home, field or home.
I said, you know, with this sport, um, you know, And for the Islanders, that's huge.
Um, you know, because like I said, not many teams wanna play here.
And even when they do play here, you know it.
You're you're going to deal with a lot of noise and a lot of mo mentum that the Islanders like to feed off of that college.
Like I mean, ah, cases of Zika said it the other night when they came back from three down.
You know, it's just like it's that team.
It's the team, you know, absolutely.
That was a crazy game just in themselves.
So Ah, but you know, obviously it's a long season.
This is a high end of the island of season right now so far, and you know, for them to be able to try to be.
The scariest thing is that despite how great David playing these, they're still trailing Washington by five.
Washington is playing very great hockey, too, but they also have, I think, like three or four games.
You know, you know, the less we're down by points and that's Ah, that's pretty alarming, considering how good we have it.
I mean, you know, we're saying a 14 game point streak, but this is literally 13 out of 14 games that we've won and won game that we lost.
We still got a point out of it.
So you really it's really a high end part of the season for the New York Islanders and again, a world hoping here in Long Island that it continues to ah, progress.
But, um, you take you take it for what it is.
You know, we're playing very, very well and you just hope that come playoff time and fingers crossed that we are there come playoff time.
Now, there are a lot of good teams out there, especially in the Eastern Conference.
And it really makes you know this playoff tree that we're going to be seeing even on the Eastern side is gonna be a very, very difficult road.
Um, you know, teams like the Bruins and, you know, Tampa Bay in Washington.
These teams know how to play two way hockey as well.
And you know, not to really bash on the New York Rangers or anything like that.
The New York Rangers in their situation.
Um, they're a good team, They really are.
They got a lot of talent on it.
And, you know, having Henrik Lundquist is always a plus.
And the problem for this team is that the defensive side, it hasn't been quite, um, that shut down as they were hoping, Uh, you know, the Shattenkirk move and the money they had reached out for him turned out to be a complete waste.
But, you know, it's one thing to get a talented defen*****.
It's another thing to really the, you know, to get a player to play both sides of the park.
It's really a gift of a head coach to be able to do that.
And, you know, I knew, you know, from watching, you know, the Washington Capitals in the Barry Trotz era.
I watched Ovechkin play defense, and I had watched Ovechkin play in this league for 10 years and, you know, even a little longer.
And there's no doubt that skills there to score goals, to make plays to make people fall, and you is that he's a great player and he's a big boy.
He can hit hard.
He does everything.
That was the biggest thing.
There was one thing he didn't d'oh for a very long time.
It was a reason why the capital's never got over that hump in the playoffs played.
You need to back check and back check to see if people aren't aware of how hockey terminology.
That's literally defense.
It's a fancy way of saying defense.
It's Ah, it's a player that skating back and being able to make an impact on the defensive side and they're just having a chance on the offensive side.
So everyone knew the talent was there for Ovechkin.
The 50 gold seasons they speak for itself, and the one great thing about it is that we saw this guy start to play defense, the Washington Capitals fun and lifted up the Stanley Cup trophy.
He did absolutely, because he played the right way and he got Barry.
Trotz was the one to make him do that.
And once I saw Barry Trotz make Ovechkin play defense, it was absolutely a no brainer for the New York Islanders.
To maybe go after this guy.
Because if you can get Alexander Ovechkin to play defense, you can get anybody in this league that I mean, just, you know, you're we've we've dealt with a few injuries.
You know, Matt Martin being out cases, it's been irrelevant because just what the next person that comes in understands what needs to be done.
I mean, we have Filppula.
Last year he played great for us.
Oh, my God, He's a big reason why we made the playoffs.
Go get Broussard restored, hasn't understand.
And I was I was about to say that Broussard is I mean, an unbelievable pick up like you here, you know? You know Broussard, he's been around the league.
He's played for a few teams.
Um, and you bring him in.
It's just like it's a depth, you know.
And, you know Ah, maybe 1/3.
Maybe a second. You know, liner.
And then you know, you you fit him in there and it's like he's changed up a few of the lines.
And, of course, it's unbelievable.
You bring in a veteran, you know, presence around the young guys.
Um, you know, I just it's it's nice to see bringing in, you know, because it kind of goes hand in hand, would fill Bullet did for us.
You know, it's just that veteran presence, you know, it's calmer, off to like, you know, guys like that that that are bringing that that veteran presence around the young talent that we have.
Um, it's huge for the Islanders, but to to move on.
But I want to stick with the hockey.
Um, there was something that I saw, um, the Avalanche game the other day against the Canucks.
I I believe it was the Avalanche.
We're killing a penalty at the time.
And Matt Calvert went to ah to drop down to the black. A block, a shot.
He catches it in the head.
Now, obviously you're catching on.
A slap shot from the blue line on a power play.
It's probably gonna have some speed to it.
And not to mention he was about maybe five feet from the shot Andi catches in the head.
Obviously, you could see the blood dripping, but to refs did not call it like that.
They didn't stop play.
And the Canucks ended up scoring a goal in that that realm of I'm like, a little confused.
This guy was on Colorado.
He was on Colorado.
He's killing the penalty.
He drops down, touches a shock to the head.
Yeah, they have helmets.
It What? What happened? He called on the side of the head and just look.
Yeah, and he went down, obviously in pain, injured.
They don't stop play.
And you could see the guy that took the shot stopped and was like, So I do I stop to go check if he's good Or do I keep keep playing? He didn't hear a whistle, so they keep feeding the puck around now.
Now you're on a five on three was an extensive time.
Yeah, it was a good I would probably say 15 seconds.
You know, maybe pushing 30 if that.
But at that point, you see a guy down.
It doesn't matter if they're in the defensive zone or in the offensive zone.
You gotta You gotta stop play.
I mean, that that was ridiculous.
I mean, a fuse is what you mean.
I'll show you the video.
No, it's all right. I'd rather not see that.
It was just crazy to me, because it's like, you know, and it just it just so happens that they ended up scoring a goal.
At the time, the Avalanche were up 4 to 2, so it really didn't matter.
But after the game, you know, the Avalanche players, coach everything.
Everybody, you know, lit up the refs.
Um, which I agree.
I mean, the guy, you know, you never know what could have happened.
I mean, we've we've seen, you know, players take a skate to the to the throat.
Um, no matter when you see blood, usually it's like, Well, yeah, once you see blood, the place, like stopped, even went like if the player cannot move from that spot, of course, the place stopped and the fact that they let it go was mind boggling to me, Um, e that I clearly because I was listening to you the entire time to get an understanding as to what it happened.
Obviously, there's an extensive time period that's going on, and they still not stopping play despite, you know, obviously, like you said, blood coming out.
It's an alarming situation.
But it's something that, you know, that is a very, very quick fix.
You know, you obviously you're going to see the you know, the criticism that coming from other media outlets, including ourselves and you know it will show, you know, that you know the NHL Players Association and you know the league itself will come together to get an understanding as to what is the priority.
And the priority, obviously, is the same.
Everything, of course, of every single Ah, you know, hockey player out there.
You know it's a mistake, you know, obviously, mistakes are made, you know, we're all human beings here, and I mean, I'm not to say that these refs have no heart to say that the rest it's an iffy situation.
Obviously guys get hit with shots that were attempted to be blocked absolute again.
I didn't see this video.
I don't know the extensive amount of blood and everything else, all the little details.
But guys go down all the time on a power play, you know, might be a, You know, one of the things that make a shot in the shin.
You can only mean that that I understand that in that point in time, that's fine, like yet.
Well, now they know they're going to block the shot, her references.
But the fact that he slid and you can literally hear the impact of him of the puck hitting him in the head and like that's like That's where it's got to stop once Course, I just want you having a hard time.
Understanding is on the basis that I didn't even see the video, but I've seen many, many times where play has continued.
Yeah, I've seen it in football, too.
I've seated in basketball.
A guy runs right into the crowd.
Guess what? They're still running the other way, even with a guy sitting there with no shoe, even because that could be impossible.
But it's a serious injury.
Of course, it's stopped absolutely I know I haven't had a chance to see this video.
I don't know extensively.
What the allies.
All I'm seeing is a guy that went down and they kept the play going.
And obviously blood's coming out like that.
And obviously it is a reason for the whistle to be blown in.
I can promise you almost by tonight's game scheduled games.
Ah, that's exactly will not have that.
Like where I'll have the video side by side with us talking, Um, when it it's uploaded toe.
So I'm gonna be sitting there going, and so I never saw this video, but it's right there.
Yeah, well, you know, I just, you know, obviously you like, it's not like with us being in the New York area like, it's not something that you would see, you know, something big like that that's more of like, You know, as we said, football is really the only, like, nationwide sport, you know, like, But I'll tell you what, That guy gets hurt in a football game.
The play continues for them.
Oh, yeah, absolutely.
Obviously, the thing is, is that hockey is a lot different than football.
Ah, play continuing of football might go tops for another 67 seconds to go Another 25 30 seconds.
A lot can be done.
It's every second.
So I understand the concern there.
It's obviously a huge issue.
They cycled the puck, but I can't promise that something like like they cycled.
No, no, of course.
And it probably went on for about another 30 seconds, which is a very, very amount of time.
So, you know, obviously it's ah, but it's a quick fix for the N h.
Oh, actually, this is one incident.
You know, you gotta make sure the care of these players and, you know, going forward.
Obviously the play will be get whistled down.
But you mean, how many times have we seen in hockey, though? Somebody getting hurt and he just can't make it to the bench.
And no matter where the puck is, it stopped.
Don't don't get me wrong.
They know they probably met again, but this is a one time.
I was just something that quick fix, And I was like, Wow, this is this is insane.
Crazy that that he would even occur.
But ah, you know for exam.
It's a quick fix for the NHL.
Absalom is, you know, like we talked about earlier, with the whole thing going on major League baseball.
It's a lot easier fixing something like that.
Well, you know it.
It's actually good that you brought up baseball.
Um, before we get out of here, I just wanted to talk about as I said earlier, Um, the that they kind of handed out the, um, the awards in baseball.
Um, the guys have won M v p.
I mean, it's definitely they think the guys that stole signs, it is inevitable.
Now, that's the biggest problem.
Now, that's what makes it a whole issue.
No, I know we could talk about anything.
I could go right back to that Every single that was our problem with steroids.
Like like we were saying, like, you know, one the amenities, because I didn't know Mike Trout and Cody Bell into my truck.
He's a monster, and so is courting Dillinger.
So I I'm fine with that.
Um, I thought deejay let Mayhew should have been in.
He wasn't even ah candidate.
So that was crazy to me.
But, um, the biggest thing that I want to talk about was manager of the year.
Well, deejay LeMay, you can have a real case because nobody wanted that guy.
I mean, it wasn't really too hard for the New York Yankees to pick him up.
He, like, was bad and all of a sudden he had an incredible year, so that could be invaluable here, you know, like it really adds to the arguments.
You can make the argument, and I'm actually not even gonna make it an argument.
I'm going to say he is the reason why the Yankees went as far as they did, of course, because the amount of injuries and this is the reason why I think Aaron Boone should have one.
I don't think Aaron Boone's a great manager, but I think he should have won just because of everything that he dealt with this season.
30 players made it to the injured list, playing baseball record a record amount of injuries, playing baseball.
It doesn't matter.
Record a record amount of injuries.
That's more injuries in the New York Jets this year.
But that's but that's what I'm saying.
The fact that they were putting in no names and the guys were playing unbelievable.
The Yankees played unbelievable.
They, you know, they were in the run. Freakin.
Actually, you're the argument from the beginning of the show.
Now, these no name players.
How did they come out into the major league level and have the success that they had? Could we be debated effect? The New York Yankees get literally way we can make the debate for anybody, anybody that has a good season, that that thing is huge.
No, I listen, I am a 110% with you on that.
You know, that proved 100% right? This is the hugest issue for baseball, and I'm like, I'm not excited, but I'm eager to see how it pans out.
It pans out what they're gonna do to the Astros, because, I mean, the Astros were a great team, but it's it's just now it's like, all right, is a J.
Hinch gonna get the ax? Is he gonna, you know, get a full year suspension? Our players gonna go intervention.
Don't even talk about suspensions.
Talk about these guys out of it.
Just like Pete Rose draft picks getting taken away international money, I think should be taken away.
It would be enough.
I just It's crazy to me eager to see what happens.
This is not the end of it.
It's literally It's just beginning.
Um, why does that sound? This story will be done, by the way.
Don't know, but no, I would check out, you know, Um, yeah, I'm going to give him, you know, a pitch here, but, um, John boy, definitely follow him on Twitter.
Ah, check out his podcast.
Check out his videos that he's putting out there.
I mean, if you want, If you're all about baseball, you love baseball, and you're you're interested to see what happens.
Um, with this whole thing.
And I mean, he's really like, whatever news comes out, he's on top of it.
He's making videos about it.
He's showing videos.
Um, if anything that you want to see any evidence or anything like that, just go check out his his Twitter and his YouTube.
He's got a, you know, video of everything.
Um, but ah, that was, you know, a little free like giveaway for for, for him.
You know what I mean.
He came out with an incredible story.
The way you put it so and it's almost savior.
It's a savior because you never know because you can go back to all these other teams, like, you know, the athletics and how they made no money.
And everyone talks about money, bowling, all that kind of stuff.
And this is why they had this success.
There could have been a lot more other details as to why they want all those games and how they were so successful than over seven.
Playoff time came and you're under the microscope.
You're really a ll.
These kind of accusations, I don't know.
But I'm telling you that it's a big night trouble, that it's just it's like that trust, that trust issue.
It's like if somebody wrongs you now, it's like, all right now I have to kind of think about every game is saying ruined What? So now So now with baseball, you had the steroids and it was like, all right, this guy just had That was crazy.
It was a spring on the, um but you know, you like, you have one guy like what's theirs.
You have one guy come out, you know, out of the out of nowhere.
I mean, um, Jose Batista was That was one of the bigger, you know.
It was like the guy hit most in his.
His career was like 15 and a season, and all of a sudden he whips off 55 it's like, Whoa, what? What is this guy on and like, That's the craziest thing is like, your first instinct is to go.
Well, what kind of stories is he taking? Is he taken H G H? It's like you can't even give him his props like, Wow, you really did work in the off season and you fainted from that.
But that's what I'm saying.
I don't think like Listen, I'm for the steroids, you know? As crazy as that might sound, I'm for it.
I thought it was the best time.
Um, but the cheating in a way of like, you know, game play is you can't allow us that that's a baseball star.
You start getting Children in high school taking this stuff and destroy their bodies.
It's just not the right thing, didn't I That I understand, but it's just, you know, it was.
It was very exciting, literally, literally.
Game of baseball game is in one thing.
This is big and it's like everybody was looking at the actual is like while they went from worst to best.
And it's like this team is This team is incredible.
They have incredible players.
Jose Altuve, 55 foot.
It doesn't start, you know.
And now it's like now everything is gonna be turned on them.
And it's now now, from, you know, everybody's saying it's a Cinderella story.
It's a great team. This and that.
And now it's Everybody's gonna be like, This is the hated team Now it's like almost the second coming of Ah, what was it? The Black Sox, right? Hold a long time ago.
You know, Shoeless Joe and you Really, You know, you got players in this in this, you know, from the past that have been completely exempt from the Hall of Fame on stupid standpoints.
And you got something like this coming out there and you're talking suspensions and a major league baseball really wants toe nip this lot.
I mean, then they're really going to need Thio.
Suspensions aren't going to do it.
It's not going to do it.
You need to remove these guys permanently from major league beast.
Well, you nobody wants to see the out to vase of the world.
Nobody Nobody wants to see that Carlos Caray is.
You know that? A great players.
This is huge accusations.
I mean, now you must remove the team from the league.
It's It's you never thought the day would come when you hear about a team being removed from an entire, you know, I mean, it's just league.
It's criticism is a bad situation.
And obviously, like I said, all these other men have done good.
We just circled around like we started off with this story and we circled around.
It's like that's how that's how big.
And we don't really talk much baseball in this show.
No, you know, it's probably my fault.
I mean, I like, Listen, I love watching baseball, especially when the Yankees are, you know, playing as well as they are, as you know, as good of a team as they have as young as of a team, as they have and what they've done in the last three years.
Four years going from a real, you know, a reload or something like that Till I grew a wrong.
Just mean that is the problem is making the moves that they had to, you know, just Brian Cashman.
Being a magician is going up the Strasbourg.
And, uh, what's the Jericho man? If we get Gary Cole, I don't think Gerry Cole's gonna want to go back to Houston anyway.
So you're gonna want todo is very teens it? Oh, yes.
Oh, yeah, that'll do it.
I'm so happy that we got a show down.
Um, we'll be back on Saturday.
I'm hoping to do.
Ah, the the Cowboys podcast.
Uh, this week, first on, we actually might get Think Kay and Jay play by play.
We've been teasing this for over a year.
Um, it might happen.
Are you gonna make you, like, stand up in front of cameras? Might just I mean, I mean, merchandise is out the merch get the merch, get the merger.
Ah, but yeah, You know, I'm excited.
I like I'm hoping that we can get on a regular regimen now.
um, I think we will.
Either way, content will be out, and I think we're gonna do a little test run on the K and J play by play and see what everybody thinks.
Maybe will be the next Bob Minnery.
We, you know? No, no, no, no, no, no.
I mean, like way.
You're gonna be one person.
I mean, well, you know, I know, I know.
I haven't exactly where he's got a commercial.
Now he's got a Buffalo Wild Wings commercial like Oh, yeah, right.
We've all buffalo Wild Wings commercials. Now.
The guys all over NFL Sunday.
But yet, like, ah, Saturday, we'll have our picks.
Predictions, betting advice.
Um, you know, fantasy advice.
You know, I got the fantasy guru here.
Yeah, I'll be honest.
I literally lost this week alone.
I might as well just drop the Cleveland defense without Miles.
Yeah, I lost Damian Williams, Tyree Kill and Smith Schuster.
So, uh, that obviously we've talked about it many times fantasy football about dodging injuries, and you got to make sure you have backups and all right, James White, get in on.
You've been a backup all year for me.
Get on in there and take, uh, takeover.
I guess that's sweet, but you know, I'm going to Dallas.
Why? I'm going to see a game.
Even where were you actually gonna go? Watch? I'm going to see the Rams game.
That's not bad. Yeah, very golfing company.
Cowboys Rams Week 15 wow.
Don't make the playoff Playoff Fantasy Week.
Yeah, it's December matchup for Jared Goff.
Great anymore news.
It's December 15 but yeah, I'm pumped to go see Jerry's World report to be in Dallas in December.
You don't want to be in New York.
Well, I mean, you should have went to the Cowboys game.
A cowboy jet game with me? Probably. Surely.
We're probably were worked up a lot better for you than it did for May.
I'm gonna fly fast forward to a week after.
Yeah, but I mean, go started coming after Halloween.
Well, how does it How do you think I feel? Where the team that lost to that team, You know, So but yeah, that will do it.
You've been listening to running up the score.
