What's going on? People of sportscast there.
My name is Camera Johnson.
I'm with the lead sports media dot com.
I write for the Timberwolves.
As you can see, um, I wanted to talk about tonight about the last two games.
We played Utah twice in three days.
The first game when a lot better than the second game.
Um, it was Ah, good Carl game.
Ah, he played well.
We got him open on a lot of different kind of looks Jim Peterson was talking about Are the wolves play by play? Guy was talking a lot about how they were setting in screens for him.
With Jeff Teague on the top, it freed him up to get some space from Red Eagle Bear.
Um, I made it a lot easier for towns to get open looks and to dish it to other people who were cutting or, uh who were, you know, go to the basket.
Um, you know, it was Ah, it's tough a lot of the time without Andrew Wiggins.
Um, which is incredible for me to be saying because of how much I didn't like him before this year, but it's tough to pick up some scoring slack sometimes, especially against the good defensive team like Utah.
Um, because they're They're really, really solid defensively, as we saw tonight after we we lost that only scored 95 points shot pretty poorly.
The wolves in that last game towns, I believe, had, uh, actually let me pull up the stats.
I I am not ah, 100% sure Get a calm.
Yes, the town towns was towns bawling last game.
He I think it was an N b a.
Ah, MBA or not, an MBA record a ah Timberwolves franchise record of three is taken by a center in a game.
He was seven of 15 from three.
I can't remember 100% what his final numbers were over that game.
He had 29 points and 13 rebounds.
I wanted to say 29 points, but I wasn't 100% sure.
One of the fact check before I put it out there, Um, also in that game you had Ah, pretty solid defensive showing from Josh A Kogi.
I remember he was kind of flying all over the place.
Hey, had a steel in two blocks.
Um, and then one of the craziest stories of the season so far, at least in these last couple of games, is Keelin Martin.
He's ah, player from the G League team for the Timberwolves.
Um came up from Iowa, and in the last couple of games he's hit a couple of really important shots.
Picked up some scoring slack from Wiggins being gone.
He was six for seven with 14 points.
He shot two of three from three.
He was a plus, 2124 minutes, which is really impressive for a guy who's kind of just getting thrown out there.
He had six rebounds.
Um, if we could get production from him like that, Um, I think that's a good little trio to split minutes with instead of having Ah trivia on Graham playing.
Because Trey Vion Graham has not been good this year.
I mean, he's a good hustle guy.
He's like a glue guy or whatever, but he's been he's been pretty pretty bad, at least on the last couple of games.
Um, so I think if you could kill a Martin Thio produce like he has been, I don't know if it's just sustainable or not.
But if you can get him to produce, continue to produce Josh Jacoby to keep doing what he's doing.
And Jared Culver, I think you can split minutes between those guys and kind of pick up the slack for that starting.
Ah, I guess would be to guard spot with, um, with Trey V on Graham.
But again, tonight, though, Martin was he had two big threes.
It's a cap off a run.
Um, I think it was a 15 to 1 run by the wolves to get this kind of back in the game because we were down at one point.
Ah, by like, a I think we were down 13 at one point and he hit a couple of big shots to put us back in the game.
Um, he had 10 points tonight on then.
Tonight Wiggins comes back, shoots 10 of 24.
Not a not a great game.
Ah, from a scoring efficiency standpoint for Andrew Wiggins.
But he was Ah, he was pretty good defensively.
From what I saw, he was kind of stopping people from getting into the paint so easily and had a few assists, seven rebounds which is good to see.
Um, overall, not a terrible game.
Just a couple of those shots weren't falling because if he hits, I mean, if he hits three more threes instead of missing nine of his 10 threes, we win the game.
But, um, you know, it's it's it's good to see that At least he's The effort is there this year, and that's something that's different.
It hasn't been in years past that he's fully it seems like he's really locked in.
Um, but tonight, Jeff T was bad tonight. He missed.
I think they said he was, 005 at the rim until the last two minutes of the game.
And there were a couple that were, like, uncontested floaters directly at the Cup that I think I mean again, if if if it's the game, the hypotheticals of basketball and sports in general, you can drive yourself crazy trying to talk about that.
But I mean, if he hits a couple more of those shots, who knows what happens? Um, tonight.
Ah, a lot of poor, poor shooting games from a lot of people.
Uh, thank you for the popcorn, Brian.
Um I just a We were We were 35 of 89 tonight from the floor, which is 39.
3% which is just terrible.
You can't shoot like that and expect to win games.
Um, especially against a team who's probably gonna be a top six seed in the West this year with I mean, they have shooting. They have defense.
They have just about everything you could ask for, except for maybe some efficiency issues without Evan Mitchell on Mike Conley so far this season.
But other than that, I mean, they're they have, ah, stagnant force.
Keep anyone out of the paint when they have thio like talents tonight.
Towns didn't have a good game tonight.
Um, he hit a couple shots of the end to kind of sal***e What was otherwise a terrible box score came for him.
Um, he got into foul trouble early, so that kind of threw off his rhythm.
I do want to shout him out there a little bit because he hit he hit a three that I would consider Steph range like just stupid range for a center toe, have, like, truly absurd.
Uh, so good on you, Karl, for hitting that, but overall, Yeah, before that, he was like one of six from three.
He would He only had two shots in the entire first half.
They got him up to 10.
Hey, was five of 10 for the whole game.
Didn't shoot a single free throw.
I don't think the refs did very well tonight.
That's the biggest like sports guy thing ever.
It's like, Oh, the rest sucked.
But there was a lot of contact that I think went unnoticed, at least by the referee staff.
Um, it's a night at least and again, like I said, like I said, early industry trade beyond Graham was three of 92 of seven from three.
I got a couple of rebounds, but he had eight points on nine shots. Just not good.
There's another thing I want to bring up about the Timberwolves this season.
That and it seems that happen, Maur than just this year.
Like we get killed by these random shooters that come out of nowhere.
Dillon Brooks for the Memphis Grizzlies early in the year.
Bogdanovich tonight had 30 points.
Ah, he was nine of 18 6 of 11 from three, and he hit, like, three in the fourth quarter, which completely put us out of the game.
Um, I hate watching guys did.
He was a plus 38 tonight, which is just stupid.
Ah, but he was just on fire the whole game.
It seemed like I honestly when I saw it the first time that he was only nine of 18.
I thought like I was kind of, like, freaked out.
I thought he definitely made more shots in that.
Or at least he didn't miss that many.
Um, Rudy Gobert is gonna be a defensive player of the year candidate until he retires.
I think Hey, was he was awesome tonight.
Uh, Carl couldn't get anything going.
And whenever he was in the game, it seemed he really controlled the game.
Tonight he controlled the tempo of the game a cz many shots as Bogdanovich hit as many shots as Donovan Mitchell hit Ah, the rial X factor for them.
Ah, in this game was really go bear to keep Carl silent, which is what he struggled with the game before.
And that's what this game is about is about adapting and, you know making changes and adjusting to win the game.
And they did that.
They took what happened, um, two nights ago and they went back and they changed some stuff.
Ah, and Rudy Go Bear was out on the three point line.
They were, like, kind of switching onto everything until someone drove and then Rudy would drop down, they would recover onto the other shooter.
I remember Jared Culver.
My guy got got stuck a couple times in the lane, um, tryingto get to the basket because Rudy Gobert was there and they even noticed it in the broadcast.
They said, like Rudy, Go Bear, Just stop this entire play And then they all covered shooters.
So Jericho over really didn't have a pass.
So I had to flip it back out to Carl with, like, five seconds left, which forced, um, five seconds on the shot clock, which forced Carl into a bad driving, a bad shot.
And it wasn't even that bad of a shot.
I was like a hook layup that he does.
Sometimes anybody just ended up missing it.
Utah's a tough team.
I think Donovan Mitchell had ah, pretty nice move with the end of the game, but he he broke, uh, Robert Covington's ankles whenever you want to say and then hit it hit a pretty wide open three.
He just he splashed.
Overall, I the first game looked a lot better than the second game, at least from an offensive perspective.
Ah, the T Wolves tonight, though, Um, yeah, again.
They shot 35 of 89 14 of 45 from three.
Um, there were There were a lot of guys who only made 13 on the game but shot over three.
Joshua Kogi was over three.
T was one of two, so that doesn't really count.
Wiggins is one of 10.
Like I said, Trey Vion Graham, two of seven.
Just ah, poor shooting night for the wolves.
I think, Um, I think we can do a lot better in the next the next time we play the jazz, which is, I think, December 13th.
They said I could be wrong about that, but, um, two will split the little Utah jazz trip here, going one on one.
Um, the first game was really exciting. Fun to watch.
Ah, lot of guys kind of picked up for the slack when Wiggins was out with illness.
And I think his grandmother died so prayers out to his family and hope they're doing well with that.
Ah, but wolves tonight, unfortunately, could not make up the slack for the poor shooting from I mean, everyone shot poorly tonight, so there was no slack to pick up 103 95.
I'll be back again next game after the game.
Have a good night, you guys.
