Kevin while here from Nunes, magician with a quick preview of tonight's Cornell Syracuse basketball game.
Big news, though, leading into the game.
Not only what's happening on the S U campus, and it looks like Syracuse team will be wearing shooting shirts, the tonight's game to support students and their wishes for a safe environment on the S U Hill.
But we also got news just recently that Jalen Carey has an injury will undergo surgery later this week, so he will not dress.
He'll be out for an extended period of time.
It looks like, um, there's some concern about Robert Baer as well.
Jim Boeheim mentioned on his coaches show last night that he's got some issues going on that the team's looking at so suddenly, this depth of the roster that we thought we had ah, a week ago is gonna be tested.
Um, big question.
Probably not gonna face it tonight is how does not haven't Carrie impact the rotation? Joe Girardi obviously looked outstanding in Seattle.
We all knew he could shoot the ball.
Could score looked effective handling the offense, even though the assist totals weren't too high.
Um the team definitely had better spacing on offense.
Created more space for Marek Delage, especially to work inside.
So without carry as a backup, if teams pressure the orange, will Gerard be ableto handle it? Um, how does that impact the playing time? A person Good dining at Howard Washington Who, uh, Washington didn't get any time against Seattle, either.
So better anti veteran player.
Obviously, people are aware these coming back from the stroke last year, so we'll have to see without carry how Jim Boeheim uses his bench tonight might be a good opportunity for him to get good on an extended run against the Cornell team that comes in with only one victory of the big story is, obviously, it's battle.
Jimmy Boeheim is leading Cornell and scoring, really taking a step forward in his junior year.
The Big Red replacing Matt Morgan, who is currently playing on the Raptor Julie team.
The 905 team with O'Shea percent in Tyler Ennis.
So without Morgan, who's Cornell is all time leading score behind has picked up the slack.
He, along with forward Josh Warren, are the key players for Syracuse to look for on defense.
Warren is another forward, actually leads Cornell and rebounds and assists.
Cornell is gonna look to probably use him at the high post and run their offense to him tonight.
So the Syracuse guard, they're gonna have to pay attention to him, and Barometer debate is obviously gonna have to be active in the zone.
Get out top, especially Warren's able to.
You not only make some shots from the following line, but drive the ball and pass it, um, Cornell.
If they can't hit the three pointer search, you should have an extended advantage in this game, especially down low.
I don't know that Cornell has anyone that can match up with the ledger Hughes tonight.
The Cornell Guards, According to a preview that we did with the Cornell Daily Sun writer Bennett Growth goes gross.
Sorry if I get the name wrong, but mentioned that Cornell's guards have actually held their opponents backcourts in check s so far this season.
They played some good players in Binghamton into Paul, and they've handled that task.
So will they be able to slow down Gerard, Buddy babe time.
That will be something to watch for, especially with Gerard.
Seattle really didn't pressure him that much.
He's able to get some really good looks and get going pretty early on, so we'll have to see how he responds.
I'm more curious.
Not how he responds on offense, but how he responds on defense.
Second half of that Seattle game, Seattle drops in place at halftime, where they really use the high screen on his side.
And he had trouble fighting through that and getting on shooters.
Seattle at one point, mate seven out of 83 pointers to get back and make that a game for a little while, they can have anything.
Any answer for Syracuse defensively? But offensively, the criticism good looks may have provided a little bit of a blueprint for teams toe a attack buddy and Gerard up top.
So we'll see what kind of adjustments they make.
Um, Syracuse coming in tonight.
How they're gonna utilize the back line.
Looks like they moved Ola guy over to Gerard.
Side kind of helped him with some shading in that second half.
And then we also saw in the second half the emergence of Quincy Carrier, who was effective getting near the basket This is another night where he's gonna have an athletic advantage inside.
So we'll see how Syracuse's offense especially uses him.
Can they keep him from being a stationary perimeter shooter? We hear reports that he makes shots in practice.
He hasn't hit a three so far this season.
Preseason included the exhibition games, and so he's really gonna be a guy that Syracuse wants to get downhill attacking the Ram.
At least at this point, Circus has enough shooting from the outside this year, so I'm not worried about Gary being a three point threat.
If people are extending on, who's behind and Gerard then stir debate, Dole, Ajai and Gary will have opportunities to get to the basket, not only for offensive rebounds but taking advantage of backdoor cuts.
Um, you know, with Carrie's injury now, Elijah Hughes will probably assumes the more that ball handling, um, roll that we've seen him hand a little bit this year so far, and so tonight's game shouldn't be that close.
Syracuse should extend the winning streak, but there are some definite questions now that this team is they're gearing up for, ah, a matchup blooming with Iowa and then sew a couple games in New York City against the Penn State team. That might look decent.
Oklahoma State and so can.
Search is kind of work on those rotational issues now and clean things up because you want to rack up the winds now before you get back into the heavy meat of the A C C schedule.
So come on over to the game.
Frame obviously will have your recap.
We'll have some takeaways and follow us along as we transition from mid week basketball to a big weekend.
Syracuse football and basketball, both men's women's and good luck and go orange.
