Hello Lakers nation.
Welcome in the Lakers Nation postgame show.
Your Los Angeles Lakers just picked up a big win over the Oklahoma City thunder and LeBron James made some history.
My name's Trevor Lane, senior writer for Lakers nation dot com.
Joining me, as always, is a jackass Kang as we are here to take your questions, your comments whether you are following us on YouTube whether you're on Facebook, live periscope, it doesn't matter.
Toss your comments at us.
We're gonna be reading them and replying as we go through and talk about what the Lakers just accomplished and what this means for LeBron James.
Anthony Davis having hasn't having a huge game, everything else going on that we need to talk about.
Just how you doing, man? I'm good.
I'm just wondering if we're going to get any questions from people asking if Anthony Davis is happier in order.
We're gonna put that to bed now for the ethical bad games, and he dominated tonight.
Yeah, I mean, look, I figured that those questions might still be coming, but no, look, I mean that Frank Vogel talked about this before the game.
He talked about wanting to get Anthony Davis some better looks.
And if you notice the very first play, they ran and they ransom misdirection in it.
But the very first play ultimately wound up in a LeBron James Anthony Davis pick and roll, and it resulted in an and one for 80.
The Lakers made it clear they were trying to get a d going from the get go, and to his credit, his jumper was fallen.
I mean, this is This is the Anthony Davis we thought we were going to see from day one.
In terms of the perimeter shooting ability, he had a tremendous game.
I was so impressed when the whole package came together that included the outside shooting.
Yeah, and you look at I mean, no disrespect to Steven Adams.
I'd liketo for his time.
Okay, since I think he's got a little bit long in the long in the tooth now.
But, um, you know, I thought this was a game.
Anthony Davis should come out and dominating.
Yeah, he had a couple of subpar performances again.
We don't know if that's because the injury or, you know, you just have an off night, but I was glad to see him, and this is one of the few times this season were seen.
80 and LeBron completely dominate both ends of the floor, really playing, playing really well.
They combined for 59 points, 18 rebounds, 14 assists, six steals and two blocks.
So I mean, any time you're getting that from two of the best players in the league, it's gonna be hard to beat them.
That's a good math on the fly there for you.
You know, I was actually in the accelerated program for maths, although great five or six.
And then I got introduced a whole bunch of bad things which took my mind off.
It's also very good.
A basic addition of multiplication, but anything after that that's it, man.
Well, that that is that is impressive.
We're finding we're finding hidden talents here for jazz.
We're going T o.
It only applies to uses things like Esso uselessly this we will get.
This is growing show.
We've got loving fans.
Well, for the most part loving LeBron James, we would be remiss if we buried the lead here.
LeBron James just made history tonight became the only player in N B A history to have a triple double against every team in the N B A.
Tonight put up 25 points, 11 boards, 10 assists.
I don't know that this is gonna be, you know, it's not like he's getting a plaque to hang on his mantle or anything like that or a huge trophy out of this.
I don't think this is something that means a ton to him, but still, it's just another feather in his cap.
Another thing that you can point to and say, Look, this guy's one of the greatest ever.
Yeah, I don't think there's any doubt about that For me.
The most impressive thing about LeBron, obviously, in the fact that he's gonna revolutionize the game where your best player used to be kind of the score or not. The facilitator.
I mean, Kobe, you saw that with Michael Jordan.
You know, their their dominance was just kind of taking over the offensive and I'm not missing in too many big moments.
But with LeBron, it's been, you know, he's carried the load offensively.
He carried the load in terms of facilitating and running the offense and just a **** long, jagged longevity.
To be able to do that against all you know to 30 teams basically in the league is he's hopped around enough to, but he's done against 30 different teams in the league.
I mean, to have that on like you men like that feather in your cap.
That just shows how excellent, how great he's been.
And I've just been so impressed with how good he's doing this this season, just like the comebacker from We talked about a little bit about this last show like that.
The chip he had on his shoulder about the fact people were saying he could be done and father time and this and that Washed and yeah, he's making everybody.
He's making everybody eat.
Their words are announcing, This has been It's great to see Yeah, absolutely.
And in fact, I wrote a piece for Lakers nation dot com that published this morning.
All about how LeBron James, like when you look at LeBron, he look at what he's doing to a degree.
We don't appreciate it enough because look, LeBron James being really good at basketball, that's expected, like Denny Green getting a tip dunk.
Everybody lost their minds because that's not what Danny Green is supposed to do.
LeBron James being really, really good and dominate, It's like, OK, yeah, that's what LeBron James does.
But I think people are missing the fact that he's averaging Maura assists in less minutes than ever in his career, more assistant at any point by a lot and playing less minutes than he ever has.
And his efficiency has been through the roof.
We're seeing a guy who is finding a way to continue to beat Father Time.
Now, eventually, Father Time's gonna win, right? There's no question there, but for right now, well, LeBron is doing is just about unprecedented.
Reminds me of Kobe's vino days and and all of that kind of stuff he is.
Hey is absolutely incredible the way he is, just picking his spots and controlling the entire game.
Not just with his athleticism, not just with his basketball skill, but with the mental side of things.
With his ability to move chess pieces around.
It's it is an absolute privilege to watch on nightly basis.
Yeah, it's like it's like he's like the Einstein of basketball, Like the way he knows the game and how smart he is and just knows when to push the right buttons.
Went to pass the ball when to shoot.
You just been awesome this year, and it's funny you mention that.
Yeah, we we see Alex Caruso or Danny Green put back dunk, and everybody's like, Oh, did you see that? Everybody's happy and I LeBron got a triple double against everything.
Yeah, well, okay, you know, like it's right.
That's O'Grady is we don't have the expectation of him.
It's not like you're taking it for granted for me.
I'm trying to watch these games and and watch him, and especially in keeping a close eye on him and just trying to appreciate how good he really isn't like I mentioned this to people who haven't been able to watch the Lakers game in person.
When you actually see him on the court.
Justus movement, his athleticism, his strength, it's more apparent in person how he's just at a different level than the other guys in the court.
Absolutely the fluidity, everything about his game is just so impressive.
I mean, you watch him, you watch him run, You want to move, you watch him cut.
It's just on another level.
There's times where he doesn't even look human, and so I mean credit to him for getting this accomplishment tonight.
But but he has been absolutely tremendous for the Lakers.
I think he's certainly in the M V P race, and I think one of the things that's been maybe I don't know if I want to say most impressive.
But for a guy that's as skilled as he is looking at, how hard he is working to make sure Anthony Davis gets going to make sure the Anthony Davis gets his points, he ever just more passes and more assists by get by sending the ball to Anthony Davis than any other Laker.
He is really making it his mission.
To make sure that Anthony Davis is successful and and how many star players would do that? How many star players would say, Look, I'm still in my quasi prime.
I'm still able to go out there and do everything on the floor and dominated duel of this stuff That would say no, but I'm gonna let this guy have the spotlight.
I'm gonna make sure that this guy gets better because he's the future.
I can't think of very many superstars that would do what LeBron James is doing right now.
Just in terms of taking a D under his wing.
Yeah, just a maturity level that he adds.
And like I said, I think I preferred to this a couple times before.
To is the time he was playing with the Heat back in, you know, after they lost that 2010 2011 final to the Mavs, and Dwayne Wade kind of thought, Hey, I gotta take a back seat.
This is this guy's team.
I don't think LeBron is there yet because you're still so dominant.
Wade started to slip down just a little bit.
Not not not not too much, but a little bit of that point.
But you're always seeing it like that.
And even with with LeBron and what what he's doing and how he's handling it, I'm gonna ask you this question because I know you would probably may have thought of it already would cope.
You have done that have passed it up.
Thio 2 80 Yeah, passed the torch.
I don't know, I don't think so.
Mamba mentality says No.
Yeah, that's all about you know, So I don't know.
I mean, look, I mean, we go back to that fateful meeting when Dwight Howard was a free agent and the Lakers wanted him to come back.
And the rumor was that Dwight Point Blank asked Kobe how many years he has left, and Kobe said he's got a few left enemies, not planning on walking away anytime soon.
And that kind of at that point, That was when Dwight knew he was leaving the Lakers because he wanted a team where he could be the guy.
And obviously we've got a very different Dwight Howard now.
But yeah, I don't see Kobe ever kind of just phasing himself out gracefully or anything like that.
And that's not really what LeBron is doing.
But LeBron is making sure that other one of the Lakers winning games, but that the new superstar is being brought in is sort of being ushered into this role as the guy, or at least at some point, he's going to become the guy.
It's it's incredible, it really is.
I don't want to say it's unprecedented, but if it's happened before, it's been an extremely rare thing.
Yeah, I can't I can't remember somebody like that in the end, A.
Especially where the bad guys like all right, you take the torch and go ahead and do it, But I mean, that's something with LeBron I think we've seen since he broke into the league right is that he's never been really the selfish guy, and he's always been about his teammates than you know.
You know, I've heard many people ever bad milk LeBron as a teammate, too.
It's not like you here.
You know, people who are just grunted when they leave and say, You know, he was not a good leader.
I think for the most part, everybody loves playing within the love being around him.
He's big on, I think, building team chemistry both on and off the court.
So I think that's what makes him special.
And I, like you, mentioned leading the league in assists and doing all this and you know, this this many years into his career.
You know what I mean? Like to be able to do this now.
It's a treat to watch and and, like you mentioned a triple double against every team in the N. B. A.
I don't know how many guys come close to that.
Yeah, that that's one that's probably gonna stand.
Stand for a while, although I guess maybe Russell Westbrook, who has been come that, you know, the king of the triple doubles.
Maybe he can get it right.
I mean, he's probably pretty close.
I don't know what the status is, but I'm sure he's getting closer to that.
So maybe at some point he gets that.
But for right now, LeBron pulling that off is incredible.
And you mentioned is a great teammate.
Jared Dudley talked about that a little bit before the Lakers took on the Sons.
He mentioned he was on the radio and mentioned that he thought LeBron is the best team and he's ever had.
And this is a guy who's played with every means, played with Steve Nash, played with a number of great players and just said the way LeBron operates in terms of his leadership style is something that has really stood out there.
Man, it has been a lot of fun for the guys to play with, so yeah, LeBron James amazing, incredible.
Can't say enough good things and obviously great great achievement here, although I've got people in here.
Tyler Tip Tiki on Facebook says seven turnovers for LeBron wasn't very good.
You know why that happened? That happened because I wrote in my piece this morning that LeBron was also averaging the least amount of turnovers his whole year.
And he was still getting all these assists and wasn't turning the ball over when he had four in the first half, I went, That's it.
I jinx, didn't It is my fault.
Don't blame LeBron for those seven turnovers.
It's on me because I said something about it, So I will take the L on that one.
I apologize to all of you out there.
Lakers Nation Jazz.
Let's see, let's get into some of these thes questions.
Oh, uh, Kyle Kuzma.
The real deal on YouTube.
Hopefully he'll be all right.
Maybe he got poked in the eye and that was like UFC fight level, getting poked in there like you see those guys get the eye pokes where it's really, really bad when you can't see it all that was like that.
I mean, he got sliced by a fingernail there.
Didn't play the second half because he couldn't really see.
Um, hopefully he's gonna be okay.
Because, man, this this tends to happen to the Lakers work.
They get somebody really rolling and then boom injury hits him.
Yeah, that was that was really tough to see.
I thought maybe you might just be a TTE first.
Like, you know, when it initially happened in real time, I thought it was just something that was like, Oh, you got poked in the eye.
And maybe he just needs to get a breather, get the vision back and clear things up, and then and then get back on the court because you want to be careful with this stuff and you've seen I mean, I've heard about it, and UFC fights to where if you get a scratch and it's something on the corn aRer with lens or whatever it is like in there, that it ends up kind of mess it up.
It's a long term thing if he has to get surgery.
So I haven't seen anything from Frank Vogel yet.
You're getting any updates on on Crusoe.
I'm kind of refreshing Twitter as I go here, hoping it's nothing serious that he has to miss some time or get surgery or anything like that.
Because any time you're messing with an eye injury to you got to be extra careful.
Yeah, it didn't look like it was that bad.
I mean, obviously his eyes gonna gonna swell.
It was probably tough to see out of it all that kind of stuff, but it didn't look like, you know, he didn't look like he sliced it.
Is I or anything like that? It was around the eye itself.
So I just I thought an update.
Sorry to cut you off.
There was my eye abrasion.
Could have went back.
And if the Lakers really needed him, Frank Vogel said he wanted to let the rest of the team finish this one out.
So good news. They're all right.
And smart by the Lakers, too.
Because look, if you have a guy out there who is his vision is compromised in one eye.
That means death perception is shot.
What kind of a risk are you then taking? If he's, you know, he's probably not going to shoot very well, not be able to see Seattle When I the in addition to that, What about injury? You know what? If he makes cuts differently or comes down differently, doesn't judge distance just right.
Like that's that's risking his health.
So the right decision was made there by the Lakers to hold him out.
I think that was smart.
Even if he could have come back in.
What? Why risk it right now in November, Especially when you just got him back.
Yeah, I was gonna say that it's in April in this game was for they had to win to, you know, have a shot at the one seed in the West, then, yeah, you probably would have came back in.
But in November, against a surprisingly scrappy thunder team, I will say that we didn't talk about them as much.
They Dennis Hopper obviously had himself a night, but watching the thunder planning, they're young, they're minus Chris, Paul and and maybe Gallinari.
But you know, guys that guiltiest Alexander there kind of they're young and they're and they're fast in a weird way.
But I was like, Okay, they played last night against the Clippers and they expend a lot of energy there.
So the Lakers, I'm expecting him to hang around and then blow them out in the third quarter.
But we were talking a little bit before we started the show.
No, I wasn't really ever fearing that the Lakers were gonna lose this game, even for KCP hit that big shot at the end.
I know we'll give him some credit.
When? When? When? That When that time comes to.
But what? He hit that shot.
Like even that I wasn't really worried that the Lakers were going to lose.
How about you? I wasn't but the same time I was kind of waiting like you said.
We know the Clippers played a really close game against the Thunder last night.
In fact, Ellen Ari had a chance to win the game at the buzzer and he missed it.
But unfortunately, Lakers fans were cursing Gallon aria at that point.
But yeah, like I was kind of waiting for the thunder.
You go to go away and they never did and credit to them.
They they kept the energy level up.
They fought all the way through and they made it a real contest and, ah, you know, the Lakers just didn't really put them away.
And that's that's something that they have done okay at.
They've put some teams away, but this one, they just they just didn't in.
Frank Vogel. Oogway, I could see for some of the comments.
Frank Vogel already was not thrilled with the defense that the Lakers showed, and I agree, you know, they were.
They were getting scored on quite a bit.
Like when you're dropping.
What was that? 31? That shooter finished with 31 30.
I mean, you don't drop 30.
He don't lose 31 points to Dennis Sugar like you don't All right? I mean, that's that's something that needs Thio that needs to be addressed.
So hopefully the Lakers will come back with a little bit more attention to detail.
This is get out of town game, right? I mean, they're going to hit the road after this.
So sometimes those can be trapped games in a way.
But yeah, I never hit that point where I felt like Okay, the Lakers are in real trouble here, and maybe that's just destiny's how good this team is because, as you know, we were saying before they, uh, right after the game for going on the air.
If this was last year, they find a way to lose this game.
Oh, yeah, Yeah, We've been freaking out the whole time that Oh, man.
Here, here comes the grand up.
Losing or something's gonna go wrong.
And you just don't have that feeling with this team because of how good, how good they are.
At this point, I really I want to say this to you.
I know we questioned it.
I think the bench has been a lot better the last few games, so I'm hoping that that can continue.
But another underrated thing from this game.
Fast break points.
They were averaging 14 a game coming into this one for the season, so they were able to get on, get some easy baskets and kind of pad their lead early.
But their defense, I mean, they would they would go in stretches where they were really locking it down.
And you can tell the thunder we're taking tough shots and then it would just kind of disappear for two at two minutes.
And over that two minutes, the Thunder would get back in the game again.
It's it's consistency.
I don't think it's a it's a negative point.
I don't think it's a bad thing.
I still there 14 games into this, and this is a brand new roster and they're still getting t know each other and still going to figure things out.
So I mean again, they still have another layer to go before they get close to their ceiling jazz.
I feel like when we when we talk about these things, we talked about the negative side of things.
I mean, I I feel like we're nitpicking because we kind of are.
But that's that.
That's our job right? Is to break down the game and take a look at it and, uh, and be critical when we need to be.
But at the same time, like you step back and you go.
This team's on a five game win streak.
They've lost two games all season.
They've got the best record in the N B A and here we are kind of picking them apart a little bit.
But um, I think that's great, though, like how awesome is it that we get to do that that we can say, Well, you know, Yeah, that this didn't work out so well, but, hey, they're on a five game win streak.
They've got the best record in the NBA and all of these things, and they're an amazing team in a championship contender.
Whereas before it was Oh, man, they they've got this issue, this issue, this one. The defense was terrible.
And they're not gonna win enough games to make the playoffs.
What a difference I hear makes you wear.
We actually feel a little bit guilty about saying anything negative at all.
Yeah, because you don't want to.
Don't trash that. I mean again.
You mentioned it a couple times during the show where we were pointing out some of the things after winds that they needed to work on.
And we're not seeing it from a point that the Lakers are bad at this or they're not good at this aspect of the game.
Were saying OK, they still got layers to get better and and to improve.
So that's the way I'm looking at it.
But like you mentioned last year yet all the drama with okay, who is gonna be good of the younger.
The injuries were the number one reason that last season kind of went off the rails.
But you had all the amenities like his Anthony Davis gonna come here. They're gonna sign in the summer.
It's like, right now, the Lakers aren't gonna be a player in big time free agency.
Mind you, there isn't many of this thing this coming offseason.
But they're not going to be big time players there.
Other there gonna be a big time players for one guy Andrea $100 for Anthony Davis, man.
Oh, you know what I mean? Like, you know, signing here like brand new.
But you were right in that sense.
But I look at it like that, like, you know, with Iguodala really being the only piece out there they might be able t attained.
But there's no drama around the team right now is just playing really well.
They got no injuries yet, And so hopefully things continue going this way.
But yeah, you're right.
I know I'm new players.
Come, Anybody's already here.
Yeah, right. Exactly.
He's already here.
Hopefully he'll be staying here.
Got a comment from YouTube is a mere doesn't seem like there's tension between brawn and a D.
Let's not make something out of nothing.
They snipped at each other a little bit in the last game.
But again, these guys are around each other all the time, and they're competing in these very tense games, where millions of dollars are at stake.
Their image is at stake every time they step out on the floor like it's high stakes, right? There's going to be some tension every now and then.
If there's not, that probably means something is wrong.
It's like if you never fight with your spouse, that's actually not a good thing.
It probably means that that you've got some things that were keeping bottled up right.
So this is, uh, no.
I don't think there's any tension.
Booker what LeBron did today with his actions, looking how often he looks for Anthony Davis, he tries to find Anthony Davis.
There were multiple times tonight where LeBron could have taken the shot himself, and instead he passed to a D and gave him the look in a be scored.
I Yeah, there's there's nothing to it At this point, nothing makes me think that they don't like each other If there's any kind of tension whatsoever.
You know, the only thing that the big thing out of this that's really disappointing to me is that Anthony Davis being unhappy and Anthony Davidson LeBron maybe having some friction is going to turn into the sign.
Mellow comments that we're gonna get.
So I don't want to see that anymore.
Please, There's nothing wrong with these two.
Get along great.
They spend time with each other off the court.
I like you mentioned.
If you ever played in the team, sport people ***** at each other all the time, even their best friends, and have practice people going to arguments and fights.
That's just true of the business.
So let's not try and create something new drum out of it because I don't want to hear that kind of stuff and nonsense that we have here with Carmelo.
Until he finally got to play with the Blazers today in this and you use okay, right? What did you finish like four of 11 or something like that? But we'll see a sporting the Carmelo Carmelo Anthony.
Let's, uh, one of things you mentioned is that the Lakers were were able to score a lot of points in transition in this game.
Yeah, they really seemed like they were trying to push the pace and it was striking.
It was surprising I That's not something that's been in this team's makeup.
They've been more of a slow it down team, kind of middle of the pack in terms of pace.
Part of it was there forcing turnovers.
And so the thunder.
We're letting them get out and run, and we're giving them those opportunities.
But it seemed like they were thriving.
And the guy who really, I thought shined in that in that situation was Rajon Rondo.
It really let him showcases passing abilities.
So you know, as much as you know, I have this love hate relationship with Rondo because the defense have ended all that I thought really Okay, maybe Kate love.
So it's something like that.
But I mean, look, three of 10 shooting isn't great, but tennis is, and I thought that he was really effective in transition.
He was, ah, plus six on the night, good stuff from him, and this was This was his kind of game.
I thought, Yeah, he was.
He was dishing some nice, tasty, tasty dishes out there.
They think that the times he was giving out, but he was I like, I like what Rondo brought in that sense again.
The issue is Rondo is gonna be a the defensive end.
Can you? Can you have a minute? The other team has a couple of good scoring guards out there.
That's something that's going to remain to be seen and the lack of consistency.
I mean, sometimes he's there and he makes an impact on the game, and sometimes you don't notice that he's on the floor.
So, you know, again, if depending on the offense they run and if you're looking at random, kind of being your facilitator of the second group for 12 14 minutes a night, I think I think they'll be in okay shape with that.
If he's playing 27 minutes late like you did tonight and you're playing upper echelon teams, you might be in trouble.
Come time for the end of the fourth quarter.
Yeah, that's true.
But you know what? I think that the fact that he's able to play 27 minutes.
I think that he's finally healthy.
We'll see if that back to back restriction gets lifted.
I'm sure if it if it hasn't been already.
I'm sure it is now 27 minutes in this game.
And he looked like he handled it.
So so that's a good sign there.
One thing a little bit surprising.
JaVale McGee got more minutes and Dwight Howard wait 23 to 17.
We that it's been a while since we've seen that, and I thought Jill did just find dunking the ball inside.
And this was sort of a unique opportunity here because not many teams run too.
C runs? Run Steven Adams and then Nerlens Noel.
So the Lakers, knowing they didn't want to stake a D on those guys and especially Steven Adams, you were able to throw some more some more total minutes at at McGee and Howard.
So it was good to see those guys getting out there.
I thought they did exactly what they needed to do, and, uh, not like they had blow up performances or anything like that.
Although four blocks from jail will certainly take that.
Overall, I thought they did well and did with the Lakers.
Need to them to do? Yeah, if you look and I kind of look at Deauville and Dwight Howard as, like one person, Do you know what it be like? One player? Because that's what you're getting from your center spot again.
This is a quick math thing.
They had 11 points, 12 rebounds, six blocks combined between them.
What else are you asking for between two from your center? Guys aren't even close to being the main players on your team.
So if they're combining to do that every night, they're doing the right thing.
And that's what the Lakers need from the night in and night out.
Yeah, if they can just do those things play defense, you know, protect the Ram and get out and run a little bit.
Rebound the basketball, then you're fine.
And what they're doing s so far has been been really good.
Um, let's talk a little bit about our guy.
K c p k c p the guy who was coming under fire.
The guy who was I mean, look, people, people were ready to go grab their torches and pitchforks and treat him like Frankenstein's monster.
And, like KCP was the guy that was getting booed by hometown fans.
They're growing groaning every time he touches the ball.
Hey, you made some big shots.
Including that one of the fourth quarter three of four from three.
We've been saying it at some point, there will be a positive regression to the mean Finally, KCP showed up.
Yeah, yeah, You know what? I've been saying it all season that people need to be patient with KCP, and he's really good.
I'm just getting up, you know, about a lot of the beginning of the season, but yeah, when he's playing like this, he makes a difference again with KCP.
I think the issue has been consistency, right? And that you can say the same thing about Rondo and we'll talk with Alex Caruso.
You know what you're getting? You're gonna get 6 to 8 points.
Hopefully more if it depending on if he's getting some open looks, he's gonna play great defense, and he's gonna do his thing.
And then you look at K c p.
It's like, Okay, what are we gonna get out of them.
So if he's the last couple of games, if he's able to keep doing this and he's doing this as a starter, he's been great.
Stone stepping in for Avery Bradley for the most part, you know what I mean, then then you gotta You gotta give the guy credit where credit's due.
So I put him down enough.
So I will say, I mean, that shot that he hit today to you, You didn't second guess it.
You took it, took a dribble, and he was like, I'm gonna hit this thing as soon as he left his anti, even though it's like I'm like, Okay, that's cash, You know what I mean? I know that was gonna go in, so I gotta give the guy credit.
He's looking a lot more comfortable, and and maybe he just needed some time to get some adjustments.
Maybe it was a new roster or figuring out a role, but he's looking really good the last two games.
Hopefully, he can look good for the next five games, and we can say, All right, this is what we expect from Casey.
People in port, right? I mean, look, I still Miss Avery Bradley.
I wish that they that they had him out there don't get me wrong, but K C P has been good filling in for him.
I think that he's done an okay job.
Ultimately, yes, I want to see Bradley back in that role in KCP back coming off the bench.
But But in terms of just someone that can come in and do the job adequately, KCP is just fine and you're right.
He took that shot with confidence, and that's the same thing we saw from Anthony Davis.
We saw him getting his legs into his shot and knocking it down.
So you know, good signs there who know, I don't know if that's a Mike Penberthy thing.
Who's been the Lakers shooting coach? I don't know if he's kind of behind this resurgence in there, shooting be looking tonight, 45% from three.
They've had some better three point shooting percentage is in recent games and we've been saying for a while that was the key for the Lakers to take.
That next step is if they can keep their defense at a high level, which they didn't tonight.
But if they can keep your defense at a high level and just make a little bit higher percentage of their of their threes.
They're gonna be a really, really tough team to beat.
Oh, yeah, and and that's what it comes down to me.
They shot 45% from the three today. 14 to 31.
I did want to bring this up with you to Troy Daniels.
Didn't didn't get off the didn't get off the bench day Wonder.
Wonder what Frank Vogel was thinking.
Maybe that was the matchup thing.
Maybe that was he's not happy with him.
Why do you think you didn't get your room tonight? You know, I think it was the extra minutes going to Rondo and how the game was going and how they when the Lakers were getting in transition, you needed Rondo throwing those passes.
You needed somebody that could get the other guys who are making runs down the floor who could get the ball.
That's not Troy Daniels.
So I looks to me just looking at the minutes that basically what happened is Troy Daniels.
Typical minutes were just transferred over to Rondo, and that made sense given the way the game was going.
We has shown, and by the way, I've got a bunch of positive comments here.
In the chat already about Vogel.
He showed that he is a guy who will not necessarily stick to a game plan in terms of minutes, like he will have it mapped up, out ahead of time.
Hey, we think this guy's gonna play this much, and this guy's gonna play that much.
But then he had gaps to the game as it goes on.
That's why you saw Javale McGee get 23 minutes because he had four blocks and he was, ah, major force in there.
Where's Dwight? Howard got a little bit less.
Rondo was right in.
The flow of the game, was doing a great job.
I was getting everybody involved.
So all right, Troy Daniels, your turns out you're not gonna play tonight because we need to leave Rondo in there.
I think that this decision to the bench Daniels wasn't an indictment of Daniel's or anything like that.
I think it was just another example of vocal reading the basketball game and making the decision that he felt would would help the team win.
Yeah, and I love that about Frank Vogel.
I mean, mostly you've seen in the n b a coach's even the greatest coaches.
Guys like Phil Jackson are like, No, this is my rotation.
This is what I'm sticking with.
This guy's gonna come out at this mark of the first quarter of this guy.
You know, I think he's doing a good job of trying to manage their minutes as much as he candle the LeBron in an 80 played 37 tonight.
But, um, you know, overall, his endgame adjustments have been great.
You wanna have a coach was like, Hey, you know what? This isn't working.
I've got to try some different or I like what Quinn Cook's bringing tonight or Alex Crusoe's bringing tonight or Rondo's bringing Tonight.
So I'm gonna give him some more time out there.
So I think it's great that Troy Daniels are part of Frank.
Vogel didn't play guys like Troy Daniels time.
When you've seen him get minutes in almost every other game and and being able to be flexible and adjusting to what's going on, I think it's a sign of a great coach, so hopefully you can keep it up and they keep doing what they're doing with this.
Yeah, it certainly.
You know what? Look credit to Luke Walton for what he's doing with the King's now.
They're really turning things around.
They just beat the Suns tonight.
And super thrilled for Luke to have that kind of success.
And hopefully that will continue because they started off the season very, very rough and that, you know, these Kings team played the Lakers tough, and they've been looking much better.
But Vogel, by contrast, I think Vogel has done a much better job at at adjusting in game than Luke Walton never did.
I mean, I know it's hard for you to see that you're more successful.
Older brother is in Sacramento now, and I understand that the distance would be hard for you.
But you're right.
I mean, that was one of the frustrations we had moved last year.
Right? Would be like, Why are they doing the same thing? Or why they're not making adjustments and and the offense was stagnant.
Whereas with Frank Vogel, you're seeing okay and you read about in the first game against the Clippers if things were working and they were losing that he was trying to make adjustments and and trying to figure things out rather than saying, All right, just let these guys go.
Of course you're gonna have a d LeBron most likely crews out there in crunch time.
You know what? When the games were gonna start a matter of luck and those other two slots just got to go to guys were playing their best.
Danny Green, you would figure, is gonna be the fourth man out there.
But again, the willingness and and and the the confidence in these guys to say, Hey, if Quinn Cook is hitting a shot in playing well today, well, I'm gonna keep melting over Danny Green.
So I think that's a good sign for Frank Vogel.
And he's kind of modern.
And he said he wanted to try and cauterize himself in Mark Knight's coaching sound.
I think he's doing a great job of doing that. So, yeah, sure.
You know, there were some of the lineups that they had out there that that I wasn't a huge fan of just some mismatches, but I think that was mostly Cal Cosmo.
Suddenly coming out and you couldn't put him in there.
So then he had to kind of, you know, mix and match a little bit.
So there was a little bit awkwardness with some of the rotation, but But again, I think they did a nice job overall.
Um, yeah, we got two more topics that we need.
Thio, we need to get to one person just through and, uh, talk about the Lakers having fun.
Winning is fun, right? I mean, like, you can You can feel it around this team right now that they are enjoying what they're doing because they're winning games because they are.
They're doing with defense now that now this game, they were getting out running, which is always a fun time.
This is a different feel around the Lakers, and I've said it before, and I'm sorry to repeat myself over and over again, but this feels like the Lakers again the past five years or whatever.
It hasn't felt like the Lakers.
Not not the Lakers.
We knew not the Kobe Pau days with Kobe Shack days of the Showtime days or anything like that.
Even the Eddie Jones said ail three days Nick Van Exel, right? Even those teams had a different field compared to what we've been through over the last 56 years.
It's back to feeling like the Lakers, and that's that's just amazing.
Yeah, it's about now for the for this team.
It's about what's happening on the court.
Do you know what I mean? And I think that's what I like about it were his last few seasons.
Like I mentioned, What's the offseason gonna bring or you know, which one of these guys are they do they have the chemistry and you just don't have these questions with these guys? And I think that's that's credit to LeBron And I think the way he's been leading the guys that I think they kind of all on the same page that listen, the goal here is a championship.
Nobody's better than the team.
We're gonna try and come together and like you're mentioning like the factors sitting here a 12 12 into compared to last season, where it was all the negatives and even the energy around the team like you mentioned, and last season you had been I go, what are they gonna find a way to screw this up and end up losing at the end.
Something something fluke is gonna happen.
And now you're looking at it like Yeah, OK, they got this.
You know, there's there's really no worry about it.
So, yeah, what a difference When one season has made for this organization.
Just let's let's talk about this.
And this is something that there've been a lot of positives tonight.
There's been a ton of them, right? This has been This was a good win.
The team didn't play greed defense, right? Vogel is not gonna be happy with that, but ultimately they walk away with the wind.
It was a fun game.
It was an up and down game.
Yes, they'll need to get the defense on track and all that, but But tons of positives take out tonight.
I've got a big negative.
Okay, I'm assuming you saw it.
The city edition jerseys.
I did see it. Yeah.
I haven't been a fan of the new designs that they've been they've been going with at all.
I want them to be a little bit more classic and it doesn't look, it's clean.
I saw your tweet about it earlier.
To what? What? What? What? What don't you like about S o Jos splatter from from YouTube Said city addition leaks better not be really straight garbage.
Look, when a jersey comes out, that is that complete? Yeah, I think it's really even if they're not announcing Until what? I saw the rumors.
Maybe we'll announce it tomorrow or something like that.
I think it Israel, Uh, the kind of the V neck look on it.
That's that's very dated at this point.
I mean, those are the Shaq Kobe jersey, and I get it.
It's a It's a shack like tribute.
Jersey Like last year was Magic Johnson here before was Kobe.
But it's just it's so close to the Lakers jersey, as is just with white lettering on instead of purple that strikes down.
I mean, they put m d for most dominant ever on there, which I mean, that's great, but it just doesn't look all that good.
And I'm not saying it looks bad, but they set the bar so high with that first Kobe jersey the black and gold, the momager that was that was made.
In fact, I saw somebody a couple of days ago actually wearing that someone of those out in the wild.
And it was the kind of thing where I walk past him and I turned on look and I go, Man, that is a nice jersey, like, even up close.
You see it? That it that thing was great.
One of my very favorite of all the city edition jerseys across the league.
And then I feel like they missed with the magic jersey.
It was just okay.
I feel like it's another kind of mess with the shack jersey.
And I've been waiting for this thing all year.
Like waiting for okay, I can finally, you know, rinse the taste out of my mouth of that pin stripe and purple jersey that we saw last year for the magic thing.
And they hit us with this, and it's just it just fell flat.
I'm just so, so disappointed.
Maybe it will look better when it's actually on, and they're wearing it on the floor.
Maybe, but my initial reaction was it was very underwhelming.
What? What would you What would you have liked to have seen them? I wanted to see either the Did you see the Nipsey Hustle? Uh, those were Those were great.
Just Just just roll with that, right? Just just roll that out there or or go with it like another black jersey.
Do something there, but otherwise I feel like they had they had such a great opportunity right there and just kind of said no thanks.
Which I mean, I'm sure the Lakers have the reason, but But that's to me.
That was that was a slam dunk to take a chick her night.
That steal a chick is, um that was a slam dunk, but they they just kind of said no, thank you.
For whatever reason.
Yeah, I mean, they Mr Barr, I think with their with their jersey finding the last class couple years, I hope whoever is in charge of that either gets a stern talking to Are they going to decide to come with something you? Because I do.
I was like, where? They have something a little bit differently if you're paying. I'm just in the past.
But I also think you should go with something a little bit differently.
I love those idiot Nipsey Hustle style ones.
that? Just something that that brings a different, eh? You have yellow and purple is your primary color.
Anyways, why you go a little bit off the grid like they did with the Black Mamba once and and go with something a little bit different like that.
I always agree with that suit. Exactly.
Yeah, why not give us Ah, different Look with that, um, pretty, uh, I think that this city edition jerseys is your opportunity to really be creative with it.
Yeah, and it just doesn't feel different enough compared to what they're they're typical.
Jersey is to me I would have liked to see more than one way.
And by the way, somebody brought this up to somebody mentioned that, you know, was check her night.
How about next week to a Chick Hearn jersey Like that? Like they put m d e on the sides in this one for most dominant ever.
How about on the sides? Or maybe somewhere you can hide it in the numbering or something? You stitch in some chicks phrases you got You know, the Jell O is jiggling and calling it the 20 Footer.
He was the first person to call How far away is shot was or inventing Slam dunk alley oop. There's air, all chicken.
How about a Chick Hearn Jersey next year, right? I mean, no, look, it's probably Karim's turn and the new Jerry West you've got other players need to get to.
But at some point, we need to check her in one or the other Jury.
West one's gonna have the spandex style short so that you think these guys, that would be the focal, that they're not going to go that far.
Everybody did that.
When they're playing the Celtics Human Derek Fisher was wearing here like the rap on his legs and all that.
Yeah, that that was terrible.
That was Oh, man.
So yeah, I was I was not thrilled to see that that jersey out there, but again, we'll see.
Who knows? Maybe looking a little bit better when they're actually wearing on them wearing it.
You with the other thing.
The other thing And is I saw Arash Markazi tweeting about this, that the Lakers are open to the idea of going back to just the gold jerseys and the white jerseys at home.
And and I think I was tweeting about this and that game against Golden State.
They're at home in Staples Center and the Lakers were wearing purple and the Warriors are wearing gold and it just didn't look right.
I hope they go back to it.
I don't want to be old man yelling at a cloud or anything like that, but I missed the simplicity of its A home game.
So they're going to be wearing yellow. It's a road game.
So you know, they're wearing purple, and then some, some alternate sprinkled in.
Yeah, yeah, I'm I'm like that, too.
I mean, it's the same thing.
I like being a Canadian with the hockey jersey.
I hated the fact that they went to home.
Teams were dark and the road team where quite I just like it were where you're someone's like you're saying the Sunday nights they used to wear the whites and and whatever, like you just have to have a schedule like that.
Don't get too cute and funny.
I didn't I wasn't a fan of that.
Warriors think, either that why they were in gold and at the Staples center.
I wasn't a fan of it either, so, But again, I mean the NBA's cash cow.
They got all these different churches coming out.
We go spend a harbor and heard our money on it.
So whatever they could do with a fat wallet, they're gonna try and do.
So let's let's look ahead to the last the next game before before we call it here.
So next they are at O K.
And that's gonna be on Friday evening.
So now they're going to face the same team thunder again.
They're just gonna face them face off of them at their place for us close.
Is this game Waas? Does that mean that they're in for an even bigger fight on Friday? No, I mean each to both.
The games are gonna be separate on their own.
You know what I mean? I don't think it really carries over too much.
You see that in the playoffs as well, right? Whatever.
The game for the game before played out has no bearing on what's gonna happen in the next one.
The only way I'm looking at this, okay, see? Game is could be a bit of Ah trap game And because, like I said, the thunder going home, They haven't won a road game all season.
They've been much better at home.
And you look at this.
12 of the next, you know? What is it? 15 games are basically gonna be on the road for the Lakers.
So this is gonna be the beginning of their toughest stretch of the season.
I know the quality of opponent will get better as you get into December, where they think on the Mavs, the Nuggets in the Jazz, back to back to back.
But you're looking at that stretch having to travel, having to deal with, you know, getting up, not being able to sleep till late at night.
Your flight's gonna get in at 23 and you got to shoot around in all this stuff.
So it'll be interesting to see how the team handles kind of this little this stretch of games.
And if they're still looking as good as they do not mean, I've still I've said this.
I don't think 17 and 3 18 into it is out of the question at the 20 game work, but I think this will show kind of how deep they are.
Some of the guys are gonna be tired.
Some of the guys you're gonna have off nights, especially now when you're traveling this month.
So that's what I'm looking forward to set the tone early with this one and then going to Memphis and get another win on Saturday.
I mean, we've talked about how this team so far has found ways to win, and that's really gonna be tested out here on the road.
It's gonna be really important that they do continue to find ways to win.
In fact, just to give a shout out to our sponsor, they may need some of time energy drink when they're out there on the road.
Yeah, hopefully they order the cases off amazon dot com or go pick some up at 7 11 or G and C because they're going to meet it there on the road.
You need some up time energy drink for sure.
Let's Ah, let's finish off with a few ah fan comments and then we'll call it a night here.
3 to 3 fool, which is? He lives up to his name? Ah, Lakers Trevor Lee.
No, Nobody wants to know what? I don't even want that.
And it's no, no jersey.
I don't even want every two, maybe two people buying it.
But your mom and dad that said, That's the problem.
That's what would happen.
That that's exactly what would happen there.
Uh, you guys think the comments you guys throw at me are just absolutely fantastic.
I love Ah, love reading these.
So here's a comment here.
Jose Lopez from YouTube.
How do you stop? Sure.
So looking ahead in the next game, what the Lakers do to slow him down? Oh, you know what? I think this is just a game of life for Dennis Rader.
I just think they stick to what they're doing.
I mean, pick up on some of his tendency.
Now watch the watch the tape and pick up on.
Okay, Where was he beaten us with? And how is he getting open shots and and just played regular defense.
I think the Lakers have been great defensively.
They did have a bit of an off night, obviously, today, giving up 107 to 2 this thunder team.
But I think what they've done so far has been awesome.
Bacon game plan.
A little bit more now for the thunder because now they know maybe Hala Bill attack the Lakers next time they're playing, so I wouldn't get too much into.
It's not like this is the fourth or fifth time something that dentist shooters come off the bench and lit him up.
So I'm not too worried about it, are you? No, I'm not.
I agree with you.
I think it was kind of just Ah, I don't want safe looky because he's a good player.
But I think this was just the his one blow up game now, if he gets hot to start the next game, and I'm sure Vogel will be going over the film and looking at how he got those those points.
But I think that the Lakers will obviously have to ship their strategy a little bit with him.
But, yeah, I'm not super worried about him blowing up consistently, although who knows? I mean, there's those guys.
Ricky Rubio always shoots well against the Lakers, and it's just it's one of those things.
I don't know if that's done.
A shooter, I tend to think this is more of just a one off, but we'll see.
We'll see you Friday night, Uh, 24 for president from YouTube.
Why is green barely playing? So Danny Green? I mean going All right.
What's that? It for? Phallus.
Taito didn't Yeah, I think it may have been a foul trouble issue for Abraham and 21 minutes he normally is right around 27 or so.
So a few less minutes on the night. But yeah, you're right.
So is probably a foul trouble issue that when the Lakers were getting out of running vocal tends to go with what was working two of three shooting.
You know, it's just kind of, Ah, whole home night for him.
But this that's Danny Green, right? He's going to make big shots when you needed to, but there's gonna be some nights where he just you just don't see a whole lot of them, and that's just that's the way his game plays out.
So again, this isn't a guy that you're going to notice all the time.
This isn't a guy that's gonna be throwing down hammer dunks or anything like that on a nightly basis.
This is a guy who can fly under the radar.
And tonight was one of those nights.
Yeah, and and I think it's a good sign for the Lakers, though, even though a guy like Danny Green to me is probably the 4th 4th best player.
I think I could say that confidently on the Lakers right now behind maybe LeBron 80 and coups.
But KCP stepped up at 13 point.
So I mean beyond a bunch of other guys.
You know Quinn Cook hit it 13 Rondo had eight points.
Bruce on a point.
So as long as when you guys were having off mate, you're having other people step up for them.
I think that's a testament to how deep this team is and and really, it's gonna start rounding out as we get later into the season.
Yeah, yeah, definitely.
Uh, you J Barreto from YouTube said they need to stop playing with their food.
It might bite them in the ass later.
Let the thunder they let the thunder catch up a little bit at the end.
We have seen that we have seen the Lakers haven't really gone out and dominated an entire game from beginning? Well, maybe.
Well, though, it gets the Hawks.
They had some ebbs and flows as well.
So they really haven't just dominated from from buzzer buzzer or anything like that in a game.
So is that gonna be a problem? The fact that they do tend to take their foot off the gas and then kind of exert themselves when they need Thio.
Are you worried about that at all? No.
No, I'm not worried about that right now.
Look, we're reaching for straws right into their 12 into their playing against the best basketball players in the world, night in and night out.
Let's not get carried away is a concerning a little bit that they're not able to do that.
Basketball, the simplest cliche is a game of run.
So, teams, we're gonna we're gonna go on eight kennel runs where it looks like that one team sticking their foot off the gas and just that they're not making shots.
And they had some flu Peter over.
So I'm not too worried about that.
Like I said, once you get to that December 1 through basically and hope that the blazers are better by that December 6th you gave them through the Timberwolves in their December 8.
You're going to see Dallas, Denver, Utah, Portland, Minnesota.
Okay, and then you're gonna see that same lack of, you know.
Yeah, You're gonna have 10 minute malls there.
Then they're losing those games and you say, OK, they gotta keep the intensity and focus up the whole time.
But if not there, 12 and two, they're doing great so far.
So let's not Let's not get the start looking at nitpicking things right now.
It's just way too early for that.
They have been way too good a look at some point.
They're going to lose the game because of it. Yeah.
I mean, that's that's going to happen.
They're going to take their foot off the gas.
Somebody's gonna get hot, they're gonna make enough enough shots and they're going to lose a game.
They're going to drop a game at some point because of it. And people were gonna be upset.
But here's the thing.
This is what good teams do because they can, because they they know they can take their foot off the gas a little bit because they know they can come back.
And when they need to put a team away, they can put them away.
Yes, it would be.
You'll be maybe a little bit less stressful if they just knocked every team out by the third quarter.
But that's not N B a basketball.
That's not the way it's gonna.
It's gonna go of teams.
You're gonna come out there. They're going to put up a fight.
But the Lakers have been maybe playing with their food a little bit, but they've gotten away with it because there are really good basketball team.
Okay, the Shadow be Lakers did the same thing.
This is what good teams do, and yes, at some point it will burn them.
But I look it as more a look at what they're getting away with, and that's a sign of just how good they really are.
Yeah, and and and that's my thing, too.
I mean, you know, you watch the Warriors a lot, whether what they had that dominant run over the last five seasons, they weren't killing teams every night. They were winning by 25.
There's a lot of times they were down 14 10 12 going into the third quarter.
They going that crazy warrior run on 22 Nothing and take the leading.
It's just that that's how basketball is not like where in football sometimes where you're like, you know, the better team just came out in 1 56 to 7 and you expected that to happen.
Basketball just a different game.
Sometimes the teams are gonna get hot.
Sometimes guys are gonna keep one.
A single guy who's shooting the ball like Dennis Ryker was tonight is gonna keep this team in the game.
So I'm not too concerned about it right now.
Like you, Like you mentioned it will probably cost them a game or two at some point, you know, later on down the line, it just how are they gonna look when the competition level does go up a little bit? Is are they gonna be able to kind of sal***e those those loans that they haven't and kind of recovered from them? I think that's gonna be the interesting point for this team, right? Yeah, that's a great point.
Can they Can they really focus throughout a game when a team is really challenging them because we haven't seen the team challenge them in a few games here.
So when a team is really getting after them and we will see it happen, how do they respond? That's gonna be the cure.
Um, so let's talk a little bit about our next show, because it's gonna be kind of a special one.
So hopefully all of you watching can come out and join us.
Can can come on and join us anyway.
Uh, Jess, you and I will be in the same place.
Yeah, that's right.
That's right, that you know, of its way out once in person, that's Yeah, we've done this.
I feel like you're my homie now.
You're one of my best best friends.
But, uh, yeah, I'm excited for Friday and let everybody know what what's going on.
Yeah, so? So we are gonna be doing this in the same play, actually, in the same place at the same time.
That means we won't be doing this kind of split screen thing right? Will be actually in the same spot will just have one big screen.
And this is the first time, actually that we're gonna have a guest that isn't one of the two of us or somebody else from Lakers nation coming in.
We actually have kind of a surprise guest, I suppose.
We're gonna let we're gonna spill the beans Now. We're gonna wait till Friday.
I don't I'm Torrente on this.
I kind of wanted us just tell anybody who think the guest is, Um, yeah, let's Let's just tell him.
So they so they know ahead of time.
What to expect coming in? Because I think if we just said, Oh, it's this it's a surprise guest.
People would think it's like a Lakers player or something like that.
And I don't want him going in thinking it's ah, it's a player coming on the show because it's not.
But it's somebody who has actually been watching our show for ah, while has been since we started this up last season.
We've been converse in quite a bit, going back and forth.
I've been having a great time talking to Oh, at Sims.
Mm, a just just asked.
Will you and I hug constantly? Oh, yeah.
Yes, yeah, but that's all the Iraqis were gonna be laying on my chest way.
But so so our guest on this next show.
It is not Byron Scott, but it will actually be pro wrestler Chris Masters.
We'll be choice.
He's a huge Lakers fan, huge diddling and huge Lakers fan.
He's gonna be He's gonna be joining us on the show and helping us break down the game and talking to us all about about his take from the side of a professional athlete s.
Oh, yeah, that the master of the master, Lock and jazz.
We're gonna rock, paper, scissors to see which one of us actually has to try to survive the master long tearing our next show.
I'm gonna pass out.
Probably if he does it to me.
So I'm not gonna be you at rock paper scissors and I always go rock.
So, yeah, just so you know. All right.
Well, there you go, giving it away, But yes.
