Hey there, Syracuse Orange fans.
Kevin Wall from new magician Coming to you right before kickoff.
Syracuse at Duke This is basically an elimination game for the Orange.
Any hopes of a bowl game, they're gonna have to win the final three teams coming off a bye.
Who have got a new defensive coordinator.
Steve Standard looks like the return of McKinley Williams.
And in warm ups, we've got an offensive line.
Switches Carlos Federal Oh and Aaron Service or swapping positions service going out to tackle again that Rolo moving inside to center.
We'll see if that opens up.
The running game helps the Orange offense, which has struggled, especially with past protection all year.
Can they hold up and give Tommy DeVito time to find guys on the outside? McKinley Williams being back Even if he's in a reserve role today is key.
Ah, Duke's missing their starting center, Jacqui Labus, on a former orange centre de Wohlabaugh.
Um, so can Syracuse interior pressure get to the do court about Quinn Harris, who's the Blue Devils Most dynamic player is going to be the key person to watch a CZ.
We get ready for today.
Big road game huge game.
Can Syracuse at least build some momentum coming back? That's gonna be the key.
Can Dino Babers restore some faith in the team in the program? And the fans who have jumped off the bandwagon can pretty quickly thio this year? Obviously, it's been a rough season for the Orange, so we'll see how the team can finish up and hopefully builds momentum.
And it's a big day.
We've ah, women's basketball is already one in the dome.
Ah, big win over Albany today for the women who are undefeated to start the season.
And the men have what should be an easier game tonight against Seattle.
Ah, big news, obviously, with men's basketball is Joe Girard taking over the starting point guard spot from jail and Carrie early in the season.
And it'll be interesting tonight to me not to watch what Gerard does offensively because he's obviously shown the ability to handle things and and find a shot.
He's looked good.
Handling the ball on the shooting hasn't been there for Gerard.
And as we've cautioned people this week in news condition, just uh, with a lot of controversy is toe temper expectations for Gerard.
Eyes a freshman.
He's gonna be some ups and downs.
I'm really curious how he's gonna handle the top of his own.
Him and body Boeheim.
Seattle's get a dynamic, guarded Tarell Brown says Name, I believe.
Ah, small 61 guard was leading the team in scoring rebounds and assists.
So be interesting to see if Gerard and Boeheim can keep him out of the lane.
Seattle is not a team that shoots a lot of three, so look for them.
Toa kind of penetrate this zone.
Look for them to push the tempo.
So it'll be interesting to see how the Syracuse line of handles things offensively.
I think the ball goes in Elijah Hughes's hands a lot more often and see that fast allows you to use his hands for office anyway.
Um, like we slow it ties battle Last year, Jim Beam's unafraid to give the the ball early to his playmaker to his top score.
Hughes had eight assists against Colgate the other night, looked very comfortable handling the ball, not only setting himself up for shots but setting up his teammates.
So I think that's gonna be something to watch for Um not only as we look forward to this game tonight.
But the next few games, this team, the Orange need to get through the own conference schedule pretty much unscathed to give themselves in good position for to get off the estate bubble this year.
Um, a C C might be down a little bit, but this team should have some up and downs, ups and downs because it's a young team.
So I looked for behind to kind of trust, used to handle the ball more often and using Dola I playing the two man game of the top of the key actually gives Syracuse.
They're probably best play makers.
And if you have Gerard Boeheim on the wings spreading the floor and it promised a debate could be as effective as he was against Colgate around the basket, you get better.
Offensive spacing, um, should help teams from collapsing not only on Hughes, but I'm behind.
And if Gerard gets hot, I think he's a streaky score, and I think they'll be a game where he he gets 25 points because it's gonna get hot from deep and he certainly doesn't lack confidence.
Be curious to see what minutes.
Jalen Carrie gets tonight because not only did he get yanked early the other night, but he got he didn't get back in the game.
And what was interesting to me for Syracuse the other night is when we talk to people talk about the ball movement, and the team had 20 assists, but 11 of this 11 of those assists came in the final 11 or 12 minutes after Gerard had been replaced and actually moved to the bench and Howard, Washington and Bryson.
I came in and Hughes was in handling the ball a little bit more so, Well, good eye and see some more time.
Um, he looks like an effective defensive player.
Maybe doesn't have this shot right now that someone like Gerard has.
It'll be interesting to see if his offensive game sort of develops, because if he can get out there and be disruptive defensively and help move the ball on offense, you might see him getting a little bit more time in there.
Quincy Gary A, um also, uh, showed up in the final few minutes against Colgate.
Will that boost him? We'll see safe Syracuse and get him moving to the basket and away from being a stationary three point shooter, which isn't his game.
So we get kick off a football right now and then Basketball later joined the game threat over at news magician.
Today we'll be discussing both games and we'll have a lot of recaps.
Ah, for you later on tonight and also into tomorrow.
So let's go orange.
