This is Alex from Unwrap sports here to break down third Genet football between the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Cleveland Browns.
I'm gonna focus on the actual game for the first part of the stream, and then I can give my take and my response on the incident that occurred between Rudolph and Myles Garrett.
Uh, starting off with this game, Cleveland Browns had a hell of a game 21 7 Their defense played exceptionally well.
They had constant pressure.
Had Rudolph just always with somebody in his face secondary played exceptionally well.
This is kind of what I expected the Cleveland Browns to kind of play like throughout the season.
I know that they kind of had a rough start, you know, with everything that happened with Baker and the way he played.
But this is a good second straight game for the Cleveland Browns.
You know, they got a good victory against the Buffalo Bills this past week.
They got a great victory here against Pittsburgh Steelers paper seals were, you know, dropping like flies.
But I'm gonna get into that into my theory as to how a lot of those injuries did occur.
but with the Cleveland Browns.
I was very impressed with the way that the offense was playing.
I had a conversation with my buddy Edwin, and he did kind of point something out to me.
That I do kind of in retrospect, really kind of believe is Karim Hunt has been a very, you know, gadget like dynamic player for them, and and he gives them a different look on offense.
That I think is just another weapon to this offense that already has no Landry, Odell Beckham Jr and the Chub.
You know, I think Karim Hunt just adds another facet that you notice.
Going to confuse defense is gonna bode well for them.
Cream Hunt looks like he's, you know, in game shape.
He's ready to go very encouraging for them.
You know, he had his long season long suspension.
Looks like he's definitely been getting in a lot of reps at practice.
He definitely looks like a good number.
Change of pace runningback for them.
Actually, I got two yards of cable in this game, which is not great, but six receptions for 46 yards, so he definitely played in the level that you know, helped kind of giving them another dynamic factor on their offense.
You know, he didn't connect with Odo Beckham as well as he did in my predictions.
You know, I'm waiting for that Odo Beckham vintage game of, you know, going for over 100 yards, making a spectacular catch.
I think that's just gonna come with Baker's progression.
You know, the way he kind of understands and reads.
Defense is, you know, it's very questionable so far.
But I think with that in mind, I think for the Pittsburgh Steelers, you know, they had a hard time kind of focusing on one player and being able to shut down a specific player.
I mean, Cleveland Browns has had a very, very impressive game.
I give him a lot of credit.
This was something that I think needed to happen for them to kind of, you know, keep them afloat.
This was one of those games where I think if the Cleveland Browns would've lost it, it kind of might have put them on the really outside looking in.
And, you know, in a 16 game season, you know you can't lose, you know too many games and put yourself in such a deep hole, I think, for the Cleveland Browns is this game definitely helped secure their season or save their season a little bit longer.
I think losing 1/7 game would have really damp in their season, and getting this victory was major for them.
You know, for their schedule they have on the next couple of weeks.
They have the Dolphins, Steelers, Bangles, Cardinals, Ravens and Bangles.
So you know, there's definitely a lot of opportunity for them to sal***e the season that had been somewhat of a highly anticipated season with all those weapons.
And you know, they still have a chance to save it.
Um, you know the incident the end of this game might have, you know, hurt that in its own way.
But for the Cleveland Browns offense, Baker Mayfield played very well.
I mean, he didn't turn the ball over.
He let me pull up his stats.
I mean, two touchdowns, 193 yards, 17 for 32.
He played very well.
I think he definitely, you know, is doing what he should be doing as a game manager.
Okay, Perry, how are you? Man kitchens would have been fired If they lost today and with how he handled the gear situation will defy him.
His head coaching career.
Yeah, I agree with that.
I think you know, Kitchen has been on quite a hot seat.
You know, with the off installing and just seeing, you know, some of those postgame, you know, comments.
It just doesn't seem like he's tryingto keep his team in line.
The Cleveland Browns definitely like an undisciplined team.
Ah, lot of penalties.
You know, a lot of miscues.
You know, the day Marius Randall play with Deante Johnson.
That was a bad hit.
I mean, different angle might have put him in a better spot, but I think you know, it's tough being a defendant in the league right now.
I mean, that was just such a tough play.
I mean, for me as a Steelers fan, seeing Deonte Johnson bleeding out of his ear, I was tough.
And you don't think in l tonight would have gotten fired.
Uh, going for in seven.
Might have gotten fired with the way that he has a full unit of, you know, he has Odell Beckham Jr. He has Jarvis.
Landry has Nick Chubb Cream Hunt in the fold.
Baker Mayfield, who had a somewhat good season Hey, might have had a bigger leash on it, but I see a bad loss against a rival or after how the season has gone so far, they would have let him go.
I mean, uh, they wouldn't let him play the season after the ultimate with this second man, right? Yeah, I think with the Freddie kitchens situation, it's gonna be interesting to kind of really, I'm actually gonna I typically don't focused too much on the press conferences, but I am going to take a second look at the way he answered some of those questions because I did see some post where they took clips of it, and unfortunately for him, it just didn't sound good.
And I don't like to jump on those necessarily, because I know sometimes people on Twitter like the, you know, Nick clips and and kind of put them in a position where it makes it sound worse.
So I'm not condoning it.
Freddie kitchens, you know, didn't hold him accountable, but from what it looks like, it didn't.
But I got to see the whole presser before I make a statement like that.
But for Freddie Kitchens, you know, he definitely needs to, Ah, make a statement about that.
But I will get back to the Garrett part later.
But for the Pittsburgh Steelers, it was a tough game.
They lost James Connor.
His shoulder injury looked to be flaring up again.
If he dislocated, I believe with the dislocation he would be done for the season.
So that might be a case of a gut check where maybe he tried to come back earlier to try to help the team.
But now may have put us without our one of our best offensive players this season.
Introduce Miss User took a big hit to the head.
Ah, he's in a concussion protocol, Dante Johnson said earlier.
Took a hit to the head.
He's in concussion protocol.
A lot of the throws that I saw Rudolph make and I I understand he's, you know, still learning the pace of the NFL.
He's still tryingto pick up his reads trying to be a better quarterback.
I totally see that, but he definitely hung out his receivers to dry as someone that's played football before.
I know what It's like to be a slot receiver and to be set up in a position where the quarterback isn't really getting the correct read and he believes you out to basically get cracked by somebody.
And, you know, if you look at the play with Juju, there was three guys on him and look, I know it's the NFL.
It's a violent game.
But there are ways that I've seen quarterbacks avoid throws to try to make sure that, you know they don't put their receiver in a position to get hurt.
I think that comes with a lot of it more with experience and instincts, I think knowing where your receiver is gonna be in seeing where the defense is.
I mean, I don't think a lot of other veteran quarterbacks would have made that throw.
Unfortunately, for, you know, Judy did his best to bring that in, but he got hit in the head twice.
No, the anti Johnson that was more of a bang bang play.
But Mason Rudolph's gonna play better for interceptions.
I mean, he he overthrew people he was throwing.
It looks like he hasn't been running with the first team for the last couple of weeks.
And he has, I know in earlier streams I have been saying that, you know, feeling we're taking a big gamble by training the first round pick for Meghan Fitzpatrick because that basically, is a photo of confidence or Mason Rudolph toe be the next guy and to be someone that you know they could invest with invest with for the future.
But I think it just was complete inaccuracies.
I just think, you know, he this game.
I mean, he definitely had a lot of pressure on his offensive line, didn't handle the Browns past Russia's well, as you know the offensive line had done in previous games.
But regardless, his accuracy downfield is very questionable.
Any pockets you know, is throws downfield.
We're very questionable, you know? I mean, a lot of them, you just completely overthrew him.
It's It's almost like, you know, Do you really know the place where the receiver is not running them correctly, which could be a factor since without our two starting receivers, you know, we had guys from practice squad come in and and play.
Ah ah, lot of snaps.
But you know, in this league it's next man up, you know, injuries or part of this game, they're going to happen.
It's the next man up kind of thing in this situation.
For the Pittsburgh Steelers, it was, you know, players off the practice squad and, you know, Rudolph's gotta be ableto put his players in a position to win.
I think a lot of AH stock is put into that because, you know, Tom Brady has been able to make a lot of receivers that aren't necessarily great play at that level because he just understands the game and is able to put them in a position to, you know, like I was saying earlier, to not get her toe to make throws, to put these players in good positions.
But for Mason Rudolph, it was a poor showing, horrible game.
I just He didn't look like the quarterback of the future tonight, and he's had a lot of flashes of positivity.
But I've seen more negative than positive.
You know, I usually like to give quarterbacks about a season or two, but they've shown some promise.
But Rudolph's gotta definitely step up and you know, to get to that infamous moment on Thursday Night Football that has blown up Twitter in so many different capacities.
So for all of you are, uh, are on the stream right now.
I'm sure you've already seen it on Twitter.
You've, you know, he saw it live the moment where Rudolph and Garrett were both tangled up.
They were It wasn't in the middle of a sack or ah, hit that Garrett did.
And Care was holding on a Z was rolling.
And Mason Rudolph was trying to, you know, pull his helmet off.
And, you know, I see a lot of this of people saying like, Rudolph started it.
And it's like, I think that type of mentality doesn't work in this situation because this is the NFL.
This is a game for what? Trent would progressed after that of Garrett ripping off his helmet and then swinging to hit him.
That's where I think there's a huge problem.
I think he could have really killed Mason Rudolph like I don't know if ah, fool out of you guys know that, you know, Hit to the temple would have really put him in harm's way.
Really threatened his life.
I mean, Mile Gary, it's not not some weakling that that that he is a specimen.
He is a strong defensive lineman.
I mean, he's proves it on place.
I mean, he is a strong player for him to swing at the way he did.
And, you know, he did make contact with Rudolph.
And I see this online about people trying to say, Well, Rudolph, you know, started it. He did this.
Listen, you guys all know whether it be great school or whatever it is, if someone starts it.
If you finish it with some dirty stuff like that, like, it almost negates the whole your whole argument like you.
And he would have just played it like, hey, like, Hey, he's doing this and doing this Could've got the penalty.
Couldn't put the seers and even deeper hole to end the game.
But he lost his cool.
He did something that really could have hurt, really could have hurt Mason. Rudolph.
And I think that to me, is something that needs to really be pointed out.
I see a lot of it blaming or Rudolph I saw think to seen Anderson posted, um, that she thought maybe Rudolph said something racist, possibly.
And, you know, I'm not going to flat out say that that's not a possibility. That is a possibility.
But I feel like Miles Gary with the way he's kind of spoken, and I hope he would have made that known.
That doesn't at all condone what he did.
But that also puts Ah little bit more in the play.
That's also that's all just hypotheticals right now.
But I do see a lot of people like, you know, even celebrities Samuel Jackson saying that Rudolph was trying to be a tough guy.
He got checked like, Why is Gary gonna be in trouble for that? It's like this.
Is that the end of the day? This is a game.
Emotions run high, but to swinging football helmet like, I don't know if any of you guys like any sport you play.
It's like if a baseball player grabbed the bat and then ran at the picture, you don't think that's a little bit beyond the game at that point.
That's some next level, like physical assaults like that's that's beyond the game.
I mean, I mean, I thought I played football.
I mean, in this in these situations, I would just, you know, tell my guy like a mix play.
Just get him just getting back within the rules like just it's football getting back next time to grab a helmet swing.
I mean, those optics are just crazy to see.
I mean, I can't even believe that this this happened the way did I just can't believe that just the ignorance of some people just trying to defend, get on it.
All arguments go out when you could ultimately kill somebody on the football field.
This game's already violent enough.
Don't don't make it a street fight.
Don't don't make it.
It's more something more than it is.
And marquees Pouncey.
He actually said he blacked out because of how said he was.
I mean, you are your brother's keeper out there.
I mean, these guys go through training camp.
They go through a grueling NFL season where after, you know, training camp, no.
One is really 100% healthy.
Like these guys are your brothers.
You go to war with them, and by that I mean the game.
I just think he was defending his teammate.
I mean, if it wasn't for David cash for being there, I mean Pouncey was kicking and hitting them.
And, you know, I definitely don't necessarily condone that.
But he was defending his teammate Mason.
Rudolph? No Van.
So he's not gonna have a chance against miles Care motions run high, but cooler heads gotta prevail.
Myles Garrett isn't suspended.
And if he doesn't, that's going to be a very, very crazy situation.
Watch as I'm sure if Roger Goodell doesn't handle some swift, strong punishment, it's going to be a big media mess because you know, lots made about NFL with, you know, c t e player safety.
And if you know something like this goes unpunished, it's just another blemish on this league that is already a very violent game.
But marquees Pouncey, if you get suspended, it it's gotta be minimal.
I mean, your teammate just got swimming with the helmet.
I mean, you have to you have to defend them.
And I'm not saying violence is the answer, but I understand in that situation, I mean, you see your friend getting, you know, someone throwing a chair at him or something, you know? Said he had a helmet.
Someone has a home in on your friend.
It's a situation where you know, you gotta step up and defend your teammate.
And I would lean more on the defensive side, but Marquis Pouncey did what he did.
If you get suspended, I don't agree with it.
But it is what it is.
Could get him for more than suspension, Maybe trying to the aggravated assault.
I actually was, you know, very active on Twitter prior to getting on the stream.
And I don't know if this was totally confirmed is all from an alleged tweet, But apparently the police was in the locker room for the Cleveland Browns.
And that's not something that typically happens.
So I don't know if maybe they talked to him about it.
I don't know if this is a situation where Rudolph is going to be in a position where he could press charges, but it's gonna be something that's gonna be very interesting to watch.
But what a blemish on this game.
I mean, Miles Gary took all the attention from an impressive victory from Cleveland Browns, and this is coming from a very a very proud Steelers fan.
This is an impressive victor by the Cleveland Browns, and you know, you lost your cool.
All you did in this moment is really hurt.
Your team, Your team is Florence.
Uh, let me check.
I believe they are four and six.
Let me just double check before I run off on this.
Rance, they are four and six miles.
Gary is most likely gonna be suspended for minimum 2 to 4 games.
I gotta think I gotta things four games, get the minimum.
He's gotta get suspended if they're going to give him an easier punishment.
But all he did is her to steam.
This defense finally looked like the defense that they look like on paper prior to the season.
And you know, he's a catalyst.
He's one of their best defensive line pass rushers.
You know, he's a very complete player.
And for him, Thio ultimately not be on the field the next couple weeks during a very crucial point of the season to try to sal***e the season and you lose your cool and hurt your team like that.
I mean, this is wrong on so many levels.
I I'm sure Gary, you know, he he came out in his presser and said that, you know, he was he was foolish.
I was foolish action.
I think after he's cooled down, he understands how much worse this really is for him and for the team.
Yeah, this was a very, very rough game.
I think it's it sucks that this Cleveland Brown victory got overshadowed by an undisciplined move by Myles Garrett.
I mean, listen, I'd be this upset if it was my player.
J. What? Doing this, too.
Uh, any quarterback for any player, if my if any of the players on my team TJ wide.
But to pre anybody do this, I'd be holding them same way accountable.
There's a there's a right and a wrong, and I've seen a lot of fans tryto upon it like, Oh, no, you know, he was in the right.
And no, you can't do that.
It's almost like if you're an Astros fan and you're trying to fight these allegations of science ceiling with technology, it's like you really can only go so far with that.
And that brings me to my last part in Baker Mayfield's postgame interview, where he basically said that you know Garrett, you know, blew it.
He all he's doing is hurting the team, and I saw him get a lot of slack about that on Twitter from a lot of NFL players that have come out and said like, No, you have to have your teammates back.
I agree with that to an extent like there's a difference between maybe, like some pushing and shoving and, you know, off a hand to a face mask, like a light punch thing.
There's a different between that and swing a helmet.
Like I I agree with Baker Mayfield.
I mean, it's the truth.
And Baker Mayfield has been very critical of teammates.
I mean, do Johnson when he wanted to trade.
I mean, he basically said, like if he doesn't want to be here, he's hurting the team like we don't want him here Like he was very to the point, very brutally honest and, like Baker said, he is how he is.
He's gonna be really honest.
He's gonna be passionate, and I mean, for him to say that about his teammate.
I mean, he understands what's on the line this season and he knows that without him, without Myles Garrett there in a very tough position, it's a very sad situation.
I really hope it all works out.
However, it can best work out.
This is just the It's a blemish on Ah, a good strong leader by the Cleveland Browns.
But we will Ah, look to see that again.
That's it for this stream for Thursday Night Football ****ysis.
I am on Twitter Alexander score ballot is 10.
I like to get involved in some of these topics to try to be as active as I can.
Look out for my State of Steelers piece.
It's gonna be something I've been working on. Thio.
You try to get going in.
It's going to be published after this game, hopefully in the next couple of days.
And I'm just gonna be doing weekly breakdowns on the Pittsburgh Steelers.
And you know what? What went right, what went wrong and what to look forward to.
So that is it for my stream.
This is Alex from Unwrap Sports.
Thanks for watching
