Welcome in the Lakers Nation postgame show.
Your Los Angeles Lakers know Anthony Davis? No problem.
They took care of the Golden State Warriors.
And you know what? It's exactly what the Lakers needed in this game because LeBron James was able to get some rest.
My name's Trevor Lane.
You can follow me on Twitter at River Under Scoop.
Joining me, as always is Jazz can follow him at Jazz King 21.
Before we dive into everything.
Don't forget, go get some up time.
I know I've needed some of this recently up time Energy, energy drinking, Fighting at 7 11 gnc in amazon dot com Jess Lakers win two in a row.
How are you doing? I'm doing good, man.
It's been, uh, expected them to win today.
I actually thought coming out the back to back it might be I didn't think it was going to be close or anything, but I thought you might see something like you saw in that Memphis game or the Charlotte game where that kind of pull ahead in the third quarter.
But, you know, I was impressed.
The world we saw today, obviously not having Anthony Davis made a little bit easier for the Warriors.
But, man, I mean, the way this team is playing right now.
And I read that the Windows piece on ESPN to talk about the fact that how LeBron and 80 are showing chemistry like it's such an encouraging sign that we thought coming into this one are coming into the season, that it might take him a 10 15 game adjustment to get to know each other.
But, I mean, it's been a smooth transition and and the other interesting thing I actually tweeted this out to is Lakers.
Spend the last time the Lakers were eight games over 500.
They're nine and two right now was the final game when they beat Houston in 2012 2013.
So that's no longer the Lakers fan.
Yeah, B Last year, they got to seven games over 500 never got to eight.
So if they beat Sacramento on Friday, it's basically been, you know, six seasons since our seven seasons since they since they were able t o B eight games about 500.
So I mean, that shows how long Lakers fans have been waiting for this. So it's it's well deserved.
I mean, look, it has been a while, and I know fans around the league roll their eyes and everything when Lakers fans say, Oh, we've been bad for so long and everything.
But look, this this is bad for the Lakers.
This is a long time for them to deal with.
Lakers fans are not used to seeing the team rebuilding for so long.
And so finally, have a good team again.
It's It's a fun feeling to finally feel like it's back to being the Lakers, which is pretty amazing.
Look on before we even dive into what we saw from the Lakers, how about the Golden State Warriors? They are not so drink anymore.
You know what? I will say.
One thing I was I was actually thinking about this earlier.
So what the warriors are probably gonna do? I don't even think Steph Curry coming off a broken hand, actually, the exact same entry when I was younger in terms of basketball, I mean, you know, there's no weeds.
It should be missing three months with that injury, then not being able to come back.
If I think they're just basically to say Clay Thompson Steph Curry, you'll shut it down for the rest of the season.
We're gonna come back, We're gonna get a top five pick and they're gonna come back and be nasty next year.
So it's fun to be able to look at them and laughed at them.
This you've years of basically running roughshod over the league.
But, man, next year, if they get a top three top five pick, I wouldn't be making fun of him too much right now.
Yeah, I was kind of wondering that could we see, like like a San Antonio Spurs effect, where they landed Tim Duncan in the draft when they had everybody out her and and David Robinson because guys get healthy.
I think that's something t keep an eye on with the Warriors always not lost for them or anything like that.
That's not light years anywhere.
There's not light years ahead right now.
I'll tell you what.
So on the Lakers nation podcast this week I had and this actually went out this morning, I had ah Warriors.
Hall of Famer Rick Barry came on and he was, and he was great.
But he was not happy.
I guess I'll say the least.
He He was not pleased with what he's seen from the Warriors, and he's you could tell he is very, very frustrated watching them play and with all the mistakes that are being made and everything.
And I was trying to prompt him to talk a little bit about some bright spots and some young guys because we know that life.
We know what it's like having a bad team having like Oh, the Lakers lost by 20.
But Brandon Ingram look good, right? You know, And now we don't have to do that anymore.
And so I was hoping that he'd be able to pick somebody and say, Hey, but this guy at least has a future right? This is a guy who they can build up, even though they're losing games and he couldn't pick anybody.
And so I can imagine how frustrating that is for Warriors fans right now.
So you know something to get sitter when we're looking at this.
But the Lakers did.
I mean, no, Anthony Davis, and it didn't even matter.
I mean, the Lakers looked like they were in cruise control all game.
And part of that is the Lakers are really good.
And the other part of days, the Warriors were just that bad.
And the wear stink right now.
But I will ask you this Just just just for fun.
If LeBron doesn't play, does this Lakers team win? Still today? Yes. Right? Yeah.
Yeah. And I know.
And they would if Javale and Dwight play, they went because the Warriors have no one that could stop him.
I mean, you could see it.
We saw it in preseason. A bunch.
They have no one in the middle.
It's not even close.
Yeah, those guys dominated JaVale.
McGee had his his revenge game, right? What do you would be finished with eight of you thinking in 17 rebounds? Seven.
It's easy to get rebounds when you're rebounding.
It's eighth graders or whatever.
It was that, George.
I mean, that's what it looked like.
It looked like a college player messing around with a bunch of eighth graders on an eight foot hoop or something like that, because they just don't have anybody in the middle Three blocks for him.
18 points crazy night they got the great Willie Cauley Stein.
What do you know? They really call you can, you know? And he's have bad.
But But after that, what do you have would think their thing is l don't Don't go out much, but that was kind of It was fun when the Warriors were good because they were just fun to watch.
But I don't feel that at all.
You know what I mean by gay? You know what? You guys kick the teeth out of the league for a good five seasons.
You want time for a time for y'all to get it back right now.
Little disappointed, though, that the Warriors of the Lakers weren't good at the same time.
Yeah, yeah, for competitive sake, like a sports fan. Yeah.
You want to see the best of the best? And I imagine the Lakers versus a fully dilated Warriors team in a seven game series.
The Lakers versus the Clippers with with Kawai and Paul George really healthy LeBron and 80 healthy.
That's what makes the n B A fund.
So as much as we don't don't want to see the injury, it is kind of a little bit of poetic justice in the Where's get their ass kicked a little bit.
You can, uh, guess revel in it a little bit.
Hel help teams have been enjoying the Lakers devised for way too long.
So I guess they really kind of enjoy the demise of someone else here.
James didn't have to play the fourth quarter.
I thought he was tremendous when he was out there, he took over the scoring.
He has been incredible season.
This is exactly what the Lakers needed this game coming off of that game against the Phoenix Suns last night.
That was a back and forth battle.
That was a I mean, they were flying up and down the floor.
The crowd was insanely pumped about it like they burned through a lot of energy in that game and so did come off of that and have to play the second item of back to back.
That's always a concern.
And so, getting to play a game against this Warriors team, missing so many players and a game that even tired the Lakers really pretty much just cruise.
You couldn't have asked for a better scenario with the exception of the injury to KCP, and we're still waiting to find out exactly what happened there.
Well, they said they said that he did have an AMA Ryan Wade didn't mean X ray.
No, no fracture.
Just a left ankle injury will be re evaluated tomorrow.
That's when David minimum 10 cent sent out.
Some pretty similar to that too.
So the fractures or anything, so might just be just be a sprain or something like that.
But, um, yeah, you know, we talked about this getting to do have the wind like this earlier in the season.
Like the games against Chicago and in Memphis and Charlotte to a degree that we wanted to see them kind of beat the team up in the first half, get up 20.
And, like our halftime, we're just gonna rest our guys, You know what I mean? And we're just gonna that say so.
They got to do that today, but let's jump back to last night.
You didn't do the show yesterday because the wife I stole 19 early two thousands and talking stick arena put over there.
Talking state resorts. I'm not kidding you guys.
I had a file that was about it was about a gig about a gig file.
I did a video of Frank Vogel before the game.
We did an interview with him and uploading that file.
I started it before the game began, and by the end of the game two and 1/2 hours later, it still was not finished.
And I just gave up on that.
That's that's how awful it is.
Well, how you talk about this, but I know, you know, watching the game.
But how? How was the atmosphere and what was it like there? The atmosphere was amazing.
The fans were going back and forth.
You had Lakers fans chanting, Let's go Lakers! Suns fans changing Beat L. A.
Anyway, there are a lot of Suns fans there and having gone to this matchup for the last few years now, uh, this was there was more of a son's crowd than I've seen in the past.
Like Phoenix is fired up about what the sons have done so far this season, and with good reason, they've been surprisingly good.
And so the Suns fans were really out there were really supporting their team.
There were a few yelling all kinds of things from the from the crowd.
And we had a good chuckle about it on a media row.
There I was, sitting right by Mike Bresnahan.
And oh, it was they were They were all fired up when Alex Caruso kept getting run over by Devin Booker and they were angry at him.
Stop flopping Caruso and all that.
And then guy was talking, talking all kinds of crap to Danny Green.
A vote for all of all people.
Like what? Danny Green.
You didn't like the way 100 years defending Devin Booker? Yeah, it was sure they used a more colorful language in that.
But that's okay.
Oh, yeah, yeah, absolutely.
But it was It was fun. It was. It was certainly.
Ah, good time and look that the environment was.
It was very much playoff like and we kept hearing from Phoenix area radio.
All of the talk was, this is the biggest game in the last few years.
This is the sons of played in last for years. That's all.
That's all they were talking about is how huge this game was for the sons.
I mean, they were treating it like a Game seven of N B A finals, and that's that was the kind of the feeling in the air was there with that kind of a seriousness to it.
So I agreed to see the Lakers get a win under those conditions.
Well, the Phoenix Suns, the Sacramento Kings to franchise is that considered Lakers rivals, even though they're nowhere close to it.
So, I mean, I thought it was the biggest game of the season for them yesterday.
And you know what? I'll say this.
We saw this a little bit today to the one thing that really stuck with me from the game from talking to Frank Vogel ahead of time was that he was talking about passing up a good shot in order to find a great shot and how that's what he's preaching now.
I think that's that's This is the transition that we're seeing because the Lakers were middle of the pack offensively and we knew that need to change at some point.
They were gonna need to get better.
And I think the path forward that Vogel has identified is by moving the ball more and that's gonna increase their three point percentage and increase the quality of their looks.
And so far it's been working against the Suns.
They shot 40% from deep against the Warriors.
They were 45% from deep, so so far it has certainly worked.
They've gotten better looks and they are hitting those shots and so I think this is going to it.
Vogel is able to continue the way the ball's been moving.
I think it's going to turn the Lakers into a much more deadly team than what we saw over the last few weeks.
They're pretty much just so good on defense.
They were relying on that to get winds and their offense was was quite a ways behind.
Yeah, it's great to see and I think that's where I think that's the interesting part with this Lakers team.
Last year we looked at it and we had a lot.
I mean, this is a complete different roster and I think the expectations are much different this season.
But one of the complaints with Luke Walton with men the offenses so stagnant and we saw that for the 1st 45 games this year.
With this, we're like, Okay, Hopefully, the Lakers don't have to go through this again, but like you mentioned in the Lakers right now, third in the league in terms of assists per game, So they're obviously moving the ball.
But I think LeBron kind of being the facilitator, a k a point guard by default right now is helping that, too.
But you know just how smooth and even watching this game.
Like I said from the start, I looked at it and said, OK, Lakers on a back to back.
It might be 56 point game at halftime, but then they'll pull away in the third and win using the fourth.
No, I mean, they beat the Warriors from Pillar to post today.
So you're looking at it and saying, OK, this team sitting at nine and two right now and again, they've only been playing together for less than a month in terms of regular season game, So there's a lot.
There's another gear that this team is going to get to.
You know what I think that that's Ah.
That's a testament to having so many veterans on the team.
So many guys who I just know how to play basketball.
They're just smart basketball players.
They don't make the rookie mistakes that that we've seen in the last few years, and so that's Ah, that's been begged for this team.
But even so, even with the veterans, they have really found a way to click.
And hopefully they can just continue to take off from here.
Defensively, they were really good.
What do you think about Kyle Kuzma? You know, he was getting a ton of flag.
We We kept talking about how Koosman needed to get things going here, get the rust knocked off.
It looks like who's is back right now.
Are any of those people who were commenting on that after the loss to Toronto on Thursday, coming out and saying the same stuff about Kyle Kuzma? Right now we get on that.
I just want to make sure because we're going to turn a comment calling out Koosman, saying he's the reason last two games, he's been great and we talked about the fact we have again.
I'm not gonna sit here and say, Well, Kyle Cruise most will be back and This is what we're gonna expect the rest of the season.
I'm saying, okay, he's gonna It's gonna take him a level, take some time to reach the level that we expected to be at.
And hopefully, if he's doing what he did the last two games shoot.
He's already there.
And if you could keep that up going through the end of the month and obviously into into early next year, then we know this is the Kakuma Cosmo we're dealing with.
But I think the calls for him sucking and the calls for him not being good We're way too premature at that time because coming up in two months of injury, man, you gotta give the guy some time to adjust.
We'll ingest that.
That's what you and I have been saying for a couple weeks now that hey, you have to give him time.
He wasn't able to train in the offseason.
He needs time to knock the Russia.
He's not even 100% right now, right? I mean, the's producing, he's hitting his shots now.
He's got a lot of work to do defensively.
Still, he's gotta gotta fix some things there on the boards.
You could certainly do better.
But you know, if the shots falling and that's the big thing, that's what he's good at.
Is scoring the basketball and the Lakers need that? They knew that, and he was able to provide that.
Lost two games real quick.
Ricky Dang from Facebook is asking, Where was Troy Daniels? So Troy Daniels suffered an injury of leaving practice.
Hey, what he could have played in an emergency situation, according to Frank Vogel last night against the Suns.
But it was only the kind of thing where if they absolutely had to, they were gonna roll him out there.
But I would imagine the same was, was the same strategy was being used today, where only if they had to, they would play him otherwise.
No need to push it and risk any kind of surgery.
Can I ask you something honest? Yeah, I'm not gonna be rude to Troy Daniels.
In what situation would they? Absolutely, unless they had six guys injured on the bench.
And what situation when they absolutely have to play? Yeah, I mean, I think that's that's what he would.
He's meeting like I get it, you know, What? At what point are you breaking the glass on Troy Daniels and busting them out? Yes.
Look, he's hit some big shots for them.
Don't get me wrong.
He's had some good games, but but yeah, look, they really they didn't need to put him out there.
And so they So they did, you know? But why didn't But yes.
Look, they're they're probably not going to play King Vortex Rondo from YouTube is asking this question.
So the plan going into last night's game was to rest Rondo in the second game of the back to back.
Okay, And that's that's what Vogel said before the game, said Rhonda will not play tonight.
This wasn't a he still hurt.
This wasn't a he tweaked anything or he reinjured anything, anything like that.
This was always the plan was that he was gonna play 15 minute minute limit on Game one against.
The Suns, would not play second night of a back to back.
As of right now, Lakers PR told us he is not clear to play back to backs yet.
Now it sounds like he had no issues.
He woke up totally fine.
Calf was good, and so I would imagine that his minutes increase will.
His minutes will increase from here and we'll see more Rondo and that eventually he'll be clear for back to backs right now.
It's just Why bother risking putting him out there, see how his body responds and then go from there? So, like this no need for concern or anything like that.
This was the plan that he was going to sit out this game.
What? What? What did you think of him yesterday and in return, he did look a bit rusty at times.
I don't want to say he was terrible, but he wasn't.
He was just kind of in the middle, which is not a bad performance for your bench and for first came back after not playing for so long.
You know what I thought? I thought Rondo did.
Well, actually, I thought that the second unit did look like it was clicking a little bit more than what we had seen previously.
Just that, having that ball handler out there having his passing, I mean, he was productive.
I think he had what, six boards and 70 says for something like that in in 14 minutes.
So he was. He was good.
I had no problems with it.
He took the open threes.
One he passed up and drove.
And I think he kind of understood that that he should have taken the shot.
I did ask him after the game about his three point shooting and how it's we've been hearing that it's improved.
And if he was gonna be taking them and he said, Yeah, look, you know, the if the shots opened, I am going to take it.
So you know, we'll see.
Hopefully, we'll see Rondo taking and then, ideally, making a lot of three.
Yeah, yeah, yeah, that's a key to that, right? Taking but making right? So, yeah, but I mean, I like what I saw him yesterday as well, just in terms of being a difference maker.
And that's one difference between a Rondo and I'm the guy who I think minutes You're going to take this Troy Daniels Eventually.
You know what a Z settles Maurren and gets healthy, But the reason why I like what he brings.
I mean, they're not very good defensively.
All the rondo a little bit worse statistically.
But if you look at his, uh, the impact you can have in terms of getting rebound addition, the ball setting the table for the offense and getting things rolling like that, that's where I think he can have a bigger impact than Troy Daniels.
The only issue with Rondo is we need to see that consistent good Rondo more than we see the Where the hell is? Where the hell is Rachel? What can you tell you on the court? Appoints playoff.
That's what we see.
Rhonda would be great.
Somebody. Somebody just tell Rondo. The entire season is the playoffs.
It's one mall playoff.
He's using hypnosis or something.
Yeah, there's some way to make that happen.
Uh, I don't know why this is becoming a thing.
Uh, from YouTube Comment.
Bring back Lance.
I missed the air guitar, I guess a little bit three guitar.
But other than that, I'm doing okay.
No, I'm not going to acknowledge that.
Hashtag free Stevenson.
Oh, my goodness.
That's that's where that's where we're at right now.
Just, uh Okay, So we get that board already with the team it's 92.
We're gonna start joking about bringing glances that were later is that we're at right now with Team is what they've lost two games all season, but we're boards and bring back Lance teams just to ****e things up.
Come on down, man.
Bring back the old Slava Medvedenko.
Bring them all back.
Okay, so let's talk about this KCP the injury Look, it was he hurt himself missing a layup.
Yeah, that doesn't escape me.
He also had a wedgie on a one foot shot.
It's been tough.
It's been a tough season for KCP.
His minutes were already really dwindling.
Frank Vogel was not turning into him a whole lot and for good reason.
But what do you do with with with KCP assuming he's out for a little bit? At least it sounds like the prognosis is decent.
I didn't see the word Achilles in there, and that was my concern was that there was something going on.
There doesn't sound like it's Achilles, so fingers crossed.
Hopefully, everything's OK, but assuming that he's probably gonna miss a least a few games, what do you do with those minutes.
I probably just give Crusoe Maur.
But is there? I mean, would you be looking at Quinn Cook somebody else? What would your game? Plan B? They're just good news in the Lakers Lakers calling ankle with KCP, and he said he's watching him walk around the locker room comfortably right now, so I don't think it's anything more than maybe a more more than a mild sprain.
I agree with you.
I would go with Alex Caruso.
His minutes have went up like not not crazy amount, but it means going from 20 minutes to 25 26 minutes now, lately coming off the bench.
He's a guy I would go with.
It can be again.
Then he's a guy who's gonna show up for you.
One set of every 89 games.
You know what I mean? And that's just not That's not good enough.
Um, obviously don't want to see anybody get hurt.
I'm not trying to demean him like that or saying good things.
You got her going to think.
I hope he's okay and he's back on the back on the roster and playing again soon.
But I also like I kind of like what Quinn Cook is doing.
I don't look at that.
You want your sixth and maybe seventh man to be noticeable night in tonight.
And I think they have that with Cruz and Howard and a mix of, You know, you could interchange Howard with Rondo or so, But with Quinn Cook, it's like you want him just to come in and be able to hit some shots and and kind of spread the floor a little bit.
He's not a great defender.
Everybody knows that.
But he brings that to the table, and he's playing a little bit of point guard as well when he's out there.
So uh, a ce faras, the KCP experiment goes, I think it should die sooner than later and kind of rest him and set him at the end of the bench.
And he hasn't been consistent or good enough over his last two years here to justify playing him over Alex.
I think I think Caruso has been.
Cruz has been so good defensively that even though even when he's not great on the offense event, he brings so much on the other end.
Devin Booker was probably having nightmares about Alex Caruso because Crusoe was just pestering it.
Alex Caruso turned into Corey Brewer.
Basically, Yeah, he was that he was that guy because Brewer used to Dr Booker insane, and Alex Caruso was doing that to him.
And, yeah, he got back cut a bunch of times.
But other than that, I thought Crusoe did a great job defending Devin Booker.
I think that he's been one of their better players coming off the bench.
I would definitely be looking at him for those minutes.
A lot of people are saying they're saying Bring exact Norville.
I don't know that you're there yet.
You know, I don't know that that's the way to go with this point.
You could, but I don't think you would have to it right now.
Uh, we're getting some interesting comments in here.
I'm getting People are bringing up Devin George now because because you threw out solving Medvedenko.
So now I'm getting all these like older, older Lakers coming in here.
Sasha Beaulieu churches coming up.
You'll be shot as a good one.
Yeah, Glen Rice.
Yeah, all those things that all those things were coming up.
Right now we're that we're the unheralded dudes on the 09 10 championship teams.
I mean, Sasha, like you with the clutch free throws.
You know, he's the 1st 1 that jumps into into my mind when we think about but those teams, he was good.
You had to even what Jordan farmer was out there Forbid Shannon Shannon Brown, right? Those kinds of guys.
Uh, So, Jess, looking at this team moving forward now, coming up Friday, the return Luke World coming back to Los Angeles with his Sacramento Kings, which are going to be missing dear.
So what are your thoughts there? What are the Lakers do heading into this game against the Kings? Is this a trap game? Um, I think especially about the Fox.
It should be a win, But there's some shooters there in Sacramento.
Um, how do you How do you approach this? And let's for the moment, let's assume that Anthony Davis can play.
I mean, I'm not 100% on that, but I'm hoping that he will be able to play that game.
Well, I mean, you know what? I don't want to sit here and clown the King's.
As much of that was early in the season.
They've won four out of their last four of the last five games.
I believe it is that we're sitting on four and six now, haven't really beating great team.
But they took out playoff contenders in Utah in Portland, so I don't think it's gonna be, uh, I don't think it's gonna be a cake walk by any means, but I think with or without Anthony Davis, the Lakers are head and shoulders above better than the king.
So you look at the next four or five games, even any.
If you want to go into deeper than that, you got home to the King's home to the Hawks on Sunday.
Ah, home in home with the Thunder on Tuesday and Friday and then Memphis, and you look at that and you're like bury their 19 to 10 11 12 14 and two is that Do you actually think they were gonna lose any of those games coming up? I don't I mean, I think 14 and two is very, very possible.
There's always the chance that you wind up taking a team lightly.
Okay, we've seen that happen before, but I think it's it's very possible.
But you will say this the king's without.
I mean, they beat the Portland Trail Blazers 107 to 99 last night.
And again, that's without dear and Fox.
They were able to do that because he's out with an injury they've got.
They've got some guys who can still play.
So this isn't a team that you can take lightly again.
They've got they've got shooters.
They've got be Alisa Harrison.
Barnes can do some damage in there, Buddy healed, of course, can get hot and heavy.
And he only shot two of 11 in the last game.
So you know that he's got some makes coming, so I can't overlook the Kings, but the same time, Yeah, I think 14 and two is very, very possible, given their schedule right now.
Is it funny we're talking about 14 and two at this point of the season.
Whereas last year we were talking about like, oh, man, when his team gonna turn around and then maybe have a shot at the playoffs So this has got a more fun to be talking about.
14 and two compared to Oh, hey, Josh.
Horton went through before today.
Maybe Maybe he's gonna He's gonna turn things around and be a shock to you to the rest of the year.
It definitely has been a totally different field of this season, and it's been It's been a lot of fun.
And you know what? Like they don't tell you this from being at this at that sons game and being there along press road everything and just talking with media.
It was It's a different feeling this year.
Like like the late like the sons came back and the sun's kind of punched the Lakers right, Like they looked like the Lakers were gonna pull away.
And then the sun's hit a couple of threes, and next thing you know, it's a tie game and, oh, gosh, we're getting into crunch time and you could just see it.
You could see it all that you could feel it.
The Lakers were more poised.
They were prepared to be in that moment, the sun's work.
The sun suddenly started missing the threes that they had been making all all game long, and that's because they have young players.
It was like for the Lakers.
They went, okay, you hit us.
We're going to do this.
This this and we're gonna make the big place when they when they matter.
It's been a long time since we've able to say that about a Lakers team.
I think that's where that's where the difference comes in it.
Last year, even though the team signed LeBron, which is the biggest fish in the pond in terms of in terms of free agency government coming into their we were looking at it like okay, but you still got a lot of young guys and they got to figure it all out, and that's gonna take some time where it's like you mentioned at the top.
When we're giving him some praise, there is that they are.
They're old in a way.
They're they're very veteran team and so the amount of time it's taking him to transition into being already, I want to say a dominant force in the league.
It is kind of surprising to see, don't you think? Yeah, I mean, it is how quickly.
It's come together, has been surprised.
And you know what? That's That's a credit to LeBron.
That's a credit to 80.
That's he's I'm gonna take it easy and wait.
I think that's gonna go in with the guys on the team last year.
I almost think the guy, the younger, were scared and they were They were They were playing a little bit timid, too, because maybe what they were turned from LeBron.
But right now, LeBron's like, Yo, we're gonna keep the foot to the down on the gas pedal.
We're gonna come out and kick some ass and that's what they're doing so far.
I mean, we're seeing, like the Hulk smash version of LeBron.
We're seeing LeBron out out there just just dominate people.
And it's, uh, it's impressive, you know, it's like, Hey said in the off season that you know that he was gonna let his actions speak, but that he wanted to prove that he was taking the throne back or he said something along those lines.
He's doing it right.
He on a nightly basis, is he is doing it, and at some point I wonder if you have to kind of slow him down.
And I asked him to rest a few games, but as of right now, hey, is is one off What? The top 34 players in the league.
Maybe at this moment I mean, he is absolutely dominant.
And if you were to do an M v p revote right now, I don't know if he'd be first, but I know he would get a lot of votes.
I who else would I maybe Would you go with me on it? And to be honest, in Milwaukee, who else would you go with over over him right now, James Harden.
Like what else is up there? Maybe I don't know.
I mean again, we're spitballing 10 games into the season, right? Yeah, relevant at any point, but, um, yeah, I mean, LeBron has just been awesome.
And it was I I admit I am concerns to after last year, that okay and and you do have to be concerned about this as you get older, especially, is the interview factor.
But when you look at him, you're like, Ok, he didn't He didn't look right when he came back from injury.
And he explained that to that kind of threw everything off for him and he never felt 100%.
So for him to come out and be ****y and almost, I don't want to say overconfident but arrogant, which is which is fine.
It's your LeBron James.
You, you arrogant as you want.
I mean, it's not like it's KCP sitting there talking that smack, but LeBron is allowed to say that, but the way he's backing it up right now, I'm like, ****, dude! And I remember when he when he forgot what the tweet was in the off season, something you were saying, like taking back the throne or the comeback or whatever it was.
I'm like, Okay, he means business this year.
And when we're seeing at 11 games in, yeah, he absolutely does.
He's been taking this seriously.
He has been going out and absolutely dominating.
It was like like I mentioned this on Twitter earlier, with the way to LeBron was playing in the first half.
He was playing like I don't want to play the fourth quarter like you.
He displayed like I'm coming out here just to put you away.
There's to put you out of my misery.
I don't want to be on the floor with you anymore.
I'm gonna put you away in that way, I could go sit over there on the bench.
He was he was out for blood, and it was It was pretty awesome scene.
They There's no denying.
I mean, you know, there's a little bit of sympathy for the warriors given the skeleton crew that they've got out there.
But he, uh, yeah, there was no mercy from LeBron James tonight.
And that's that's what you want to see.
And it's gonna interesting when you watch him. And I noticed this.
I know they ended up losing to the Raptors right when they when they played him on Sunday, But the way he was running the offense, it's like he slows the game down to a level that it almost looks slow to you.
But it's not, You know what I mean? In real time, when you're watching him in person, it's everything.
Seems like it's so methodical and and the way he was doing and he seemed like you took care of himself the right way over the offseason, he was preparing for this fully and some people were questioning, How is he gonna be with Space Jam and how you know this is mine? Not really on basketball anymore.
I think he's answering all those questions with authority right now.
And you know what? My one concern when I was doing a deep dive into some stats e of the day was that the Lakers offensive rating with LeBron is off the floor limits like it stays fairly consistent when a D is off the floor.
It's a little bit worse, but not a lot.
A D makes the biggest difference on the defensive end when he's on versus off the floor, LeBron.
It's often like he makes a difference defensively, but if he's off the floor offensively, it's a mess.
And then, and the eye test confirms that, right? They dropped a like, uh, say at 89 offensive rating.
80 there to give you some context.
Their offensive rating against the sons was 120.
Offensive rating is right around like 100 607 ish with LeBron.
Without LeBron, it goes down to 89.
So just so you guys have some contacts there, So that's a concern.
And that's where I think that Vogel's plan of moving the ball in order to create open looks is so important because we've seen them struggle with that because I think there is as good as LeBron has been.
And as much as they've leaned on him, I think they also need to be able to do things on their own at these generate quality shots.
You're never gonna be as good as you would be with LeBron on floor, of course, but just to be competent.
And that's the one.
Concern is that they become so reliant on LeBron's dominance that when he eventually needs a game on for load management, things really fall to pieces.
And that's why I think Vogel's game plan for moving the ball on generating open looks that way is brilliant.
See, that summarizes our relationship on the show.
You're the LeBron James.
I just got to come in and step into when you're not.
You're not gonna bring your a game.
But, uh, you know what? We talked about this.
No, not playing.
But you know what I'm saying? This, like with having a guy like Rondo, come back.
Run! There's not gonna be great.
And I'm not expecting to be a world beater.
But just having someone competent out there like we mentioned for 8 10 12 minutes LeBron's pain about 35 a night now, you know what I mean? For the most part in close games.
So just having the option of having someone out there who can, like I said, set the table for the offense.
All right, You know what? You're gonna go here.
You're gonna go there, and we're gonna kind of run this through and run emotion.
And again, it's not gonna be even close to what it is with LeBron on the floor.
But at least having Rondo as an option there is gonna help that second unit two.
That's a great point.
And when you have run too out there, there's a lot of shortcomings that come with Rondo, especially on the defensive end.
And I could go on and on about the reasons why.
Why Rondo isn't your ideal player out there, but in terms of what the Lakers need, he can provide what they need.
A ce faras just running an offense.
It kind of just being the being the grease out there in order.
Big things run a little bit more smoothly.
I do want to get in some of the questions of the comments here.
There's a few, uh, Lee Jackson for Facebook.
Do you guys think Dwight Howard will get to be Orlando Dwight? No, no, no.
I'm saying that you know, you just 33.
Yeah, but is he gonna have nights where he looks like light? Orlando, Orlando, Right. Sorry. Yeah.
You know, I think you might have one or 234 big games like that.
And I'm not gonna be shocked if he puts up 14 intendant.
Sometimes as well to I I just love what I'm seeing from in terms of his energy and his build and his Zeke and everything like that.
Like he just looks like he's in a great place right now.
So I'm expecting Dwight to be very good.
I don't expect it to be close to Orlando light all the time.
What about you? Yeah, And here this is the reason why I went to this question is because I wanted to pivot into into this discussion here with it.
Yeah, it's like, Yes, Orlando Dwight certainly would be the better player.
He would make the bigger impact on the team and everything.
But does this team need the current version of Dwight Howard Maur than Orlando Dwight? Well, that's an interesting way to put it on me. Yeah.
Yeah, because Orlando right would be immature yet all over the place and eighties, taking up 80 space down there, joking around.
He wouldn't be setting setting good screen to be slipping the ball because he wanted the lob and we wouldn't be seeing the boxing out.
The attitude would be different.
Yeah, man, as good as Dwight was back then, I think that Dwight Howard we're seeing right now, the more unlike Dwight Howard Yes, is the is the better fit for them, which is which is incredible.
Who would've thought we'd be saying that like you were like, Dwight Howard is the perfect fit for the Lakers right now.
I don't think that I don't think anybody anticipated saying that before the season crazy.
If I knew we did.
And if you did, you're lying, right? Let's be honest about that if anybody thought there is another Dwight Howard perfect for this, Steve.
No, I didn't see that one take from anyone when we're doing these shows there in the oxygen.
Yeah, absolutely not.
Let me give you a little bit of you inside inside the locker room thing.
So last night before the game, Dwight Howard sits down, He's at his locker and he's got his his pregame meal.
He's got some pasta.
He's got some grilled chicken and he's eating and I've got a brand turner from the L.
Times is standing right next to me and Brad kind of jokes with them.
It goes, it goes white or those fries.
He thought the pasta looked like french fries and there was no joke fired back like that.
I wasn't mad or anything like that, but it was very clear from his response.
And I can't remember exactly what he said that No, this was serious.
Like like No, this is no man.
This is This is pasta.
And it was It wasn't impossible was This is whole grain pasta, right? Like he was okay.
He's locked in on his diet.
He's locked in. And all that stuff again.
That's just kind of Ah, a nothing story or whatever, but But Dwight is You could see Dwight, like, 10 years ago, he would have made some joke about that, or he probably would have been eating the fries or whatever.
And instead, you've got very focused. No nonsense.
What's that? Was that his thing? Skittles.
That was Lamar Odom with the skills.
But that sounds right, though.
I'm sure Dwight like Skittles doesn't know if he'll agree You Skittles are pretty pretty, but, uh, you know, he Yeah.
I mean, it's just a different attitude, and I'm not gonna talk about his on court stuff.
Just the way he's carrying himself, I think, is the biggest biggest thing for me.
That I've seen that No.
This is a different Dwight Howard, right? He's not pouting and sulking when he's not getting the ball in the post.
He's just like, dude, I'm gonna come out here.
I'm gonna run my tail off.
I'm gonna set good screens.
I'm gonna block.
I'm gonna try hard on defense for whatever minutes I get, And that's my job on this team.
So what he's been doing and how he stood in so far has been great to me.
We'll see what happens as we get later into the year.
But right now, the third best Laker behind LeBron and 80 has been Dwight Howard.
Definitely husband. No.
No question there.
Um, I've seen you a few questions on here like one from Facebook.
It boogie does come back.
How would it work with our three centers? I don't think you even worry about that right now.
You cross that bridge when you get to it, there's no there's no sense that Boogie is coming back or anything like that.
If something happens and he can come back for the playoffs, that imagine his minutes would be limited.
It would just be if they needed, but there was an injury or something like that.
So I don't think that's even anything that they're concerned about it at this moment.
Michael Cera? No, from YouTube.
Trevor, do you think will lose Dwight to free agency next year? If you plays like this? Yeah, it's It's certainly possible, definitely.
But if you're I guess, depends on how much money teams are willing to spend on a 34 year old center.
Yeah, we'll get somewhere.
You know, we get somewhere, like a two year, $20 million deal or something like that.
You know, 10 million per right.
He's gonna have to think long and hard about doing it.
But if he's playing like this, yeah, he's gonna have people wanting to take him on, of course.
And so it's possible it could happen.
But I have nothing to worry about at this point.
It's We're in November right now, so we don't need to worry about where Dwight might go or anything in free agency.
Who knows? It is possible that he stays because he has found success here.
He's found success with the Lakers, and he's turning his career around.
So it's possible that he winds up staying.
Christian Jackson asking Why didn't Troy Daniels play minor injury again? Sense was that he could play, but the Lakers figured Why risk it? So no problem there.
KCP sounds like he's probably going to be okay, but Mme.
Or more stuff coming tomorrow, I guess they're going to do it some more scans and things like that to find out exactly what happened.
Hopefully, he'll be, he'll be okay uh, let's see.
Roll Royal Fernandez said. Hi, guys.
What is the biggest takeaway from an 11 game sample size this early in the season? So jazz what it stood out to you the most that the Lakers are going to be legit and are absolutely a top if not number one in the top three for sir as contenders for the N B.
A title of this, the healthy.
I don't I don't I just don't see a team that comes together with this many new parts and the head.
Of course you have.
LeBron and 80 were great, but the way it's all kind of fit together seamlessly.
I don't see it becoming a thing that they go on a good run and then they go on a bad run and then they're good again.
I just think this is what you're seeing.
So to me, I'm taken from the fact that how quickly this team has come together and that's a credit to the players.
But I think one guy we haven't mentioned enough a lot this season we have touched on them is Frank.
Vogel's done a hell of a job so far in the whole staff has for sure, making sure this team is prepared and finding the right combination that hit the right buttons to make the players play.
So for me, it's just been the 11 game sample size shows me.
****, the Lakers are for real, and they're gonna be right there.
Come time for May and June.
Yeah, as long as they could stay healthy.
This team, this is a championship contender, right? That's that's where we're at with this squad at this point, because that's that's what they've shown us so far.
Sheldon Baptiste said.
Trevor Lane, Miss you last night, Man did not get a post game with you.
Yeah, like I said it.
Our show before the Sun's gonna remember who the opponent was.
I guess that would have been the Toronto game.
After the Toronto game, I mentioned that I was in the locker room about the Suns game.
I was able to go and cover the team up close, but I would have done a postgame show.
But the problem is at talking Stick Resort Arena, which is the arena.
The sons playing the WiFi is horrendously bad.
There was no way I would have been able to live stream anything out of there, so it just it wasn't gonna work.
So that's why there was no show then.
But otherwise, we're here every single night after after the games.
Although there will be one in a couple weeks, We'll talk about that.
We get closer, Okay? But yeah, I may have to miss one here.
They're in fact, yes.
I may have one coming up.
Where were you? And I are gonna be the same place, Which was that, uh, a week from Friday.
We just gotta find a place to do it. We're gonna work on that.
And that'll be a lot of fun.
Timon, Horton Tucker is seeing somebody asking about that.
He's getting his legs under him in the G League right now.
Again, He was coming out from a stress reaction as well.
Uh, I'm going into this season expecting to see nothing from him.
Like, except for the play of the South Bay Lakers.
If he gets any minutes, if he provides anything great, that's icing on the cake.
But he's so young, I think you just have to assume that this is gonna be kind of a Red shirt season 14 Lynn Horton Tucker.
Oh, yeah, He's so any studies done a pretty good job for the 1st 3 games for the for the South, the Lakers.
So, um yeah, I wouldn't expect anything from him.
I wouldn't expect the exact Nobel.
Uh, you know, unless there's there's a bunch of injuries that you have to bring up one of these guys kind of fill in at the end of the bench, but yeah, let them let them marinate.
Let's get a little bit better down there.
Let them get their legs under them and learn the game and get better.
And hopefully you're not gonna expect a little tuckered a Tucker part of me to ever be a nol started.
But if you can come into the league and N B A B 1/7 8th man six man and anything on top of that is icing on the cake like you said.
I'm expecting it out of those guys this year. Yeah, yeah, 100%.
And if they turn into something down the road Great.
Lee Jackson from Facebook, we need all the post Cames trav L o l We try guys. We tried.
I take no nights off, Basically.
So if you don't try to get as much out here for you guys as I can occasionally, there are some things that happen.
Um, Carnell Michelle Johnson from Facebook said clippers lost tonight with a bunch of exclamation points.
Yeah, I wasn't sad to see that happen, that's for sure.
You know, Did you said it all.
Did you see what happened with Doc Rivers and Austin Rivers? I missed the end of that.
I was getting all set up for this stuff, so I missed.
I mean, I've seen, like, the clips have been on Twitter, but I didn't get the whole story behind it.
What was it that Doc was going off? Yeah, And, uh, Austin Rivers just like him up.
So it's his dad and Doc was getting, you know, getting upset.
It was clear at that point that the Rockets were gonna win, so it was getting a little chippy, and Doc was yelling about some stuff.
And Austin Rivers is asking the refs to team up, and it says, I know they've got kind of a different relationship and all that.
But it was pretty funny.
Say, I don't think we've ever seen a game where a son has asked for a technical foul against, like that was, that was pretty amazing. Endless.
Unless at some point, maybe a pizza.
Dumont's asked for attack against Larry Nance.
I don't think that's happened, but that would be a father.
Something there, too.
Uh, let's see here.
A lot of people saying Sit Anthony Davis against the Kings.
Do you? Do you do that? Do you see him? Yeah.
If he's not, if he's not ready and he's not, he's not 100%.
Yeah, it's too early in the season to risk anything long term, especially with a BB in, isn't as important as he is.
Because if you don't have a D against the big name teams, you're gonna lose some of those games right now.
I mean, like I said, he might have to eat a loss in the standings at the Queens Kings, play real well and shoot the ball really well.
But I wouldn't risk injury.
And what about you? Yeah, if you can.
If you can get away with it, Yeah, I wouldn't I wouldn't plan.
I wouldn't do that if you could, if you could get away with it.
But again, if you feel like you need him out there, then you may have to rule him out there.
If he's good to go, if he's not healthy and look his reaction.
When asked about his injuries last night against the Suns, told me he he wasn't planning on playing this game tonight.
Like, you didn't seem certain at all that he was gonna be playing.
Um, so we'll see.
I mean, he may need a little bit of time to recover.
And if you feel like you get away with not playing him, then yeah, you should.
You should probably do that.
Oh, apparently, uh, now I'm just seeing some comments from the locker room.
I don't know if that was legit or not, but it sounds like things are going very well in the Lakers locker room right now.
Some good comments being being thrown around.
If you're on Twitter and you're watching this stuff, um, interesting stuff there.
So I guess let's wrap up with this jazz.
What's your ideal for this game against the king's Okay.
What do you What are you hoping to see in this game? Is it 80 out there? Is it 80 resting? What do you want to see from the squad again? That's all dependent on how eighties feeling if if he's still getting bothered, he's still dealing with these mics and stuff that, then? Yes, it, um but even without him, the Sacramento team missing the Aaron Fox.
So I think you know, Sacramento wins a bit like not missing Fox.
Comparative Anthony Davis in terms that But man, the way the Lakers are playing right now, if they can play lock down defense and and kind of slow the game down against the King's, I don't see a reason why they're not tending to some time for a Friday night.
What about you? You know what? I'll tell you what I think that this Kings game is actually a good test for a big weakness that the Lakers have had and we saw it in the preseason.
There were early warnings.
We'll transition is a big part of it.
Actually, they did better.
Ah, lot better against the King's.
I have to look at the stats tonight about the transition defense.
Although this game you can kind of kind of throw it out in a way because the Warriors were that bad.
Let me see your think.
Fast break points.
The Lakers once again the same as last night.
They won by a point, only give up 13 fast break points compared to 14 that they scored.
So that's a big, positive step forward, right? They were, I believe, 29th in the n b A and given up those kind of points.
But, uh, the one thing that I want to see is there three point defense because the sun's I absolutely lit them up from behind the arc.
The Nets did it to them in preseason, and I think the cans with shooters that they have are going to try and do the same thing.
They don't have a huge presence in the middle or anything like that.
They don't have a guard that's gonna be penetrating a lot now that deer foxes out.
So you gotta watch out for those shooters for the Kings.
And, uh, and so I want to see how the Lakers defense adjusts and hopefully fix is some of the mistakes that they were making against the Suns.
What do you think that? What do you think? The biggest thing they need to work on in terms of three point defense, just kind of getting out faster or the rotation happening a little bit faster.
What would you work on the most? Yeah, I mean, vocal talked about this a little bit after the game because I was asking about him about how they were defending Devin Booker.
And he mentioned that he wanted his guys to be able to not just cover the driver but be able to cut off penetration and then get out to a shooter.
And he said that the reaction just wasn't quite kicked quick enough and they weren't making the decision to go it the right time.
And so that's something that I would like to see fixed.
I would like to see them taking a few steps back to kind of karate, corral the drive into the paint and then quickly exploding out to contest the shot.
I think if they can do that, then they have Ah, you basically take away the avenue for the Kings to actually get a get a win in this game, If you can be a strong contesting team against the three point shot.
Yeah, I'm with you on that, too.
I mean, I'd like to see them kind of just challenge.
They're doing a great job collapsing off the original penetration and getting help there.
Yeah, they got to get a little bit quicker, so it'll be.
I don't think it's gonna be an easy win by any means, but it's a game with or without happy Davis, I think the Lakers should win.
But again, we know that could've Would've should've Don't don't count in the n B A.
So we'll see what happens 100%.
All right, guys, let's wrap things up there.

We will be back then, doing our post game show, and I'll probably try to put together a video tomorrow on the three big takeaways from this game against the Warriors, although it's gonna be a tough one.
I think this would be a difficult one because the Warriors were really, really, really not good.
But that's okay.
The Lakers were nine and two That's the important part.
Have a great night guys on and we will see you all on Friday after the game until then.
