and welcome back.
Once again, friends to the We got Nets coming to you live on SportsCastr Stream ahead of the Brooklyn Nets out west on the third game of the road trip, taking on the Utah Jazz.
Hopefully, if you were following some social media we were announcing mentioned it on the last broadcast that we were going to be coming.
Hopefully live wire the wire on this one.
Probably gonna take a little step away as we look in towards halftime and then come back in on the third quarter action and carry us straight through to what we We are optimistic, Lee thinking, could be a Brooklyn Nets victory.
And that being said, of course, coming into it, this is a matchup where we'll be taking on the Utah Jazz, who just came off a win last night against the Golden State.
Warriors now find themselves at seven and three, and the Nets come in with a four and five record started.
Take a look just at some of the baseline stats that we want to highlight in this match up.
Of course, Utah Jazz.
This will be an interesting one because the Utah Jazz are currently ranked first in points, allowed it just a hair under 198 while the Brooklyn Nets come in as the third ranked offense at 119 and 1/2.
Basically won 20 per game.
But we seen consistently from the Utah Jazz early in this one, including in a match up against, obviously, a different looking Golden State Warriors team.
But we've seen them have success in defending consistently.
Last night, they came away with a 1 20 to 106 victory, certainly giving up a few more points but also scoring at a little bit higher clip.
So, you know, I think that they'll take that trade office.
Keeping teams under 100 is something you may not expect to do throughout the season, But if you can certainly stymie them and keep yourself in front of them, place sound defense and have go bareback in there protecting the rim, it's gonna lead more often than not to success.
We dive in a little bit on some of their numbers.
Obviously, the big new player on this roster is Mike Conley, coming on Bushman on the we got next podcast.
He covers the Utah Jazz on Jabar Jazz, which, if you're looking for a great source for Nets and even just general MBA content, we're gonna head over to the jabber jazz dot com website, follow them on social media and on YouTube.
They're doing a lot of great stuff, you know.
They went into some insights around Connelly and how on a new team, After a decade over a decade, playing the same place with his family, being in the same routines, he's still learning how to adapt and adjust to a new system in a new style.
One of the big pieces of that is adjusting to a new center.
He comes over from playing with Gasol, who certainly has a different style in different physical presence than Rudy Gobert.
But all indications are he starting to round himself into form.
We talked about his struggles early on on the podcast when we crossed over, but now when we take a look at it, if anyone is looking to get back and get right into game, certainly taking on the Golden State Warriors in their current condition can be a cure all for you On the season.
Connolly comes in averaging just over 14 points, four assists, shooting 37% from beyond the field and actually a little bit less at just over 36 36 a half percent from the from the field with that hire three point percentage.
You know, he came in in this Golden State Warriors game put in 31 minutes, shot 54% from the field, nailed it fromthe line, contributed seven assists, came away with 22 points, certainly one of his best performances in his young career.
Now on a new roster.
And this is one of those things that I think you anticipate from a veteran player like him.
And if you're a Brooklyn Nets fan, you were kind of hoping that he wouldn't find this rhythm until a few more games down the road.
No other action that we saw in there in this 1 20 to 106 victory for Golden State.
Generally speaking, you know, Utah and Golden State played fairly close and field goal percentage 49 for Utah, 48 for Golden State.
But the three point percentage were Golden State was shooting just over 32% compared to the 46% for Utah certainly can start to spell a difference over the course of the game.
And this is one that if you are Utah Jazz fan, you kind of chalk it up as a guaranteed victory.
And even though we know nothing is guaranteed in the n B A.
And it was really wanting to control as well in the first half, outplayed him to a 34 30 score line through the first quarter and then extended it in the additional nine points, having a 13 point lead going into half in this one s o anticipated anything less? No, probably not.
And it wasn't really much difference in the third and fourth quarters.
Golden State having a three point up tick in the third quarter but ultimately having being outscored 25 23 in the fourth.
And that's what wrapped it up there.
When you look at the turnovers as well, this is a theme that if your Brooklyn Nets family seen them have their issues with it, Utah actually hasn't been that different.
17 is their average on this season, but in this past matchup, they control themselves, limited it to just 12 turnovers and we've been highlighting with the Brooklyn Nets and how important it is to try to play clean basketball.
If you want to have an opportunity in some of these tighter games to come away with Winds, and certainly the Jazz were able to find that rhythm in this past match up with the Golden State Warriors, we'll start to go through and highlight some of the other players for them as well.
One of the key things we want to bring up is that Moody A will be available for the Utah Jazz in this one.
They still have a couple of other players and Exume and at Davis, former Brooklyn, that Davis and they will remain out in this one.
But you're certainly ah, Moody.
A is a nice player.
10 iota have for usage rate in minutes, and we'll be looking to see how he comes along after a hamstring strain, which is something that you definitely want to monitor and certainly don't want to over exert in the first game back.
Conversely, on the other side, something you mean you didn't pick up on in the last game? I didn't notice it until after the game was over Caris Levert.
He actually hit his thumb a couple times, both the second and third quarter against the Phoenix Suns.
He'll be out tonight with a sprained thumb.
He had X rays on Sunday and Emery yesterday.
Currently, it's is still being evaluated.
I don't anticipate this being a situation where he's out for any extended amount of time, but the same time I will say it's something where you want to be cautious with him and certainly not force the issue right.
And as a few people start to join in here, you can.
Certainly, as I've been mentioning chat, live with me if you have any questions, or if you pick up on something during the game, shouted out at me for sure, it's a little bit of new appearance, right? We went professional on this one, cleaned up the act, home the hair through a tie on and feeling pretty good about it.
To be honest with you, I think I cleaned up all right.
But stay focused in on the action here, you know, looking at the Brooklyn Nets side of things, obviously, a disastrous outing against the Phoenix Suns now talked about it with Doug Nori earlier on the podcast that came out today previewing us this matchup and also looking back at the past weekend of games.
This was one of those situations where in the preseason, coming into this season, you would have looked at the calendar and said, Well, Portland trailblazers, they're high, high quality team, obviously of Daimler's CJ McCollum.
They acquired Hassan Whiteside from Miami.
You know, this is a team you might if he came away with the law, say, yeah, you might expect that.
Conversely, when you look at the Phoenix Suns coming off of how they performed last season, you say, Easy win.
Yet in reality early on, here we see in Portland is struggled.
You got some new players trying to find rhythm.
See, CJ McCollum has certainly been struggling to find his game, and they're still kind of in the throes of figuring some stuff out.
Whereas Phoenix has come out hot, they look very sharp.
They play at a high pace.
Rubio is on a phenomenal job facilitating, and if we think back to the Brooklyn Nets in that matchup, where did they struggle across the across the board when you give 138 points, but they struggled in the lane, sticking with your with your defensive assignments on the perimeter, you saw a lot of backdoor cuts.
Rubio finding easy open looks, whether it was to the big men or to slashing Booker.
You know, uh, you had Baines on the outside getting wide open looks from three point territory, and in spite of the fact that we saw much more active DeAndre Jordan, early foul trouble for Jared Allen limited him in that one.
And it just felt the kind of game that got away from them early down 19 in the first quarter.
They did make it close in the second.
At one point, it was 46 44 but then still able to push that and have themselves a 14 to 15 point lead by halftime and never really got back in on that action to touch in on this game.
And what we expect with Caris Levert out, you know it's gonna be a combination of a few different players. They're going to make it happen.
We're trying to determine what we were going to see from the starting line up, and as soon as it gets posted here will certainly let you know.
Some suggested that maybe you see, Spencer didn't woody hopping in that role.
The concern there is that you're taking that out of the second unit.
So now you're disrupting to elements of your team because now someone has to fill in for Spencer agility in that secondary role.
You know, Doug Nori mentioned, he thinks that, you know, going with Jared Temple would make the most sense.
He's been seeing an uptick in minutes.
He's kind of solidified himself into a pretty consistent role.
Possibly know Wahba, who was seen getting back into the court over the last couple of games, could be someone that you look to as well the idea of being here that, in either case, they're both defensive players.
Temple has certainly been showing some nice looks from downtown the offensive end, and you'll take that strong defensive presence.
Whatever they give you offensively, it's fine.
You'll obviously look for Kyrie Irving to be asserting himself a little bit more in this one, and you kind of take it from there and see what the game dictates.
You know, we also saw it that Nicholas Claxton came in and he got Cem Cem minutes in the fourth quarter when maybe they were still trying to make a game of things ultimately ended up playing through garbage time with some other bench players.
But I I spoke out about this when he made his first appearance.
I'm gonna keep beating the drum a sw.
Far as I'm concerned, this is a player that I want to see on the court, more for them.
I think he offers athleticism.
He offers the ability to on the offensive and a bit, even though he is undersized, playing power forward as a pro.
But he can offer you something similar athleticism that Jared Allen gives you, then in the defense's side of the ball, especially in the matchup like this.
Not that Gobert isn't gonna be a handful, but this is a guy who can be a presence and a pest around the rim.
Defensively, we've seen him do it already in these small sample size that I've been getting from him, and I think that over the length of this season you'll see it go Maurine this direction and I will be pleasantly surprised and eager to see him get a little bit bigger of a minute share, though as a rookie, certainly conditioning plays.
A factor is you get into into the long end of a season.
But he should be still relatively fresh early on here.
So I'd like to see him get a bit of a run for short.
This this, you know, beyond the idea of a defensive matchup versus an offensive prowess.
We talked about it.
We've been beating this drum.
Nets can't get away from turnovers, mentioned that Utah has done a nice job with that.
They can't seem to get into the rhythm of it.
One of the things that I've mentioned a couple different times, you said on the podcast as well.
You know, this is a team that I think is going to have these quote unquote pendulum kind of games looks strong and cohesive against the Portland Trail Blazers.
Full awful little bit against the Phoenix Suns.
Be out of rhythm.
Another thing that we talked about two was at the end of the Portland Trail Blazers game.
Coming up with a couple of big shots was Joe Harris on.
Lee had a total of 43 point attempts in that one on Lee had a total of 43 point attempts in this last game.
It's very interesting to see how, even in the early season when you're still trying to figure out the system when players are still learning what you want to be dealing on the offense and defensive side of the bowl, to be getting away from something that has been such a strength for this team is a little bit alarming.
Story on Prince has certainly become ah factor from from beyond the arc.
He's at a couple of rough games here as well.
Recently, Kenny Atkinson mentioned he expected to come through it.
Young players are going to struggle at times, and that's just a part of this season.
No matter where you're looking, I'm just gonna go ahead and reach over here and get myself my hot beverage up and ready to go for daring action.
There's nothing better than deciding to go live on SportsCastr and then realizing that maybe that first ones are cold is coming on for you.
So excuse me if I need to get a couple of sips as we move through this game action, but like I said, you know, Tori on Prince has his struggles, and that's fine.
But for Joe here is not to be getting his looks.
That's something that I think needs to be corrected and needs to be corrected quickly.
The easiest way.
Keep your offense and rhythm.
Not that we have made scoring points, but also put pressure on other defense is and help you get out of pace is to get these open looks.
Your perimeter shooters.
Now this ties Ray back into their struggles defensively because getting out on the fast break, spreading that floor out and allowing Kyrie or Spencer didn't witty or when healthy on the court.
Caris Levert To find those open looks from the perimeter in transition is the easiest way to get easy knock down threes.
The other element of this, though, is that anyone who follows the Brooklyn Nets knows Joe Harris can curl off a screen at the top of the key and have five inches of space and still get that shot up.
He has such a consistent stroke from beyond the arc he elevates.
He keeps himself very balanced legs underneath him, so to not be still getting those looks for him, I think, is doing a disservice to what your offense is gonna be best served in the long term for this game.
And as we're about to be approaching in on tip off here, starting lineups come up, it bears out Garrett Temple will plug in in place of Caris Levert.
You're gonna have Bogdanovich, O'Neill, Gobert, Mitchell and Connolly going for the Utah Jazz.
And then Harris, Prince, Allen and Irving, of course, in the starting lineup for the Brooklyn Nets.
Not a particularly large team on our side, although right now in this one, we can match up pretty well.
Taurean Prince has an advantage over Neil Bogdanovich and Joe Harris are fairly even in size and even a temple going up, potentially against against Donovan Mitchell in some stretches here.
We don't know how the defensive assignments are gonna line up, but let's actually have a little bit of size here, and we'll see how they hold up against Quin Snyder and his six season as the Utah head coach.
And certainly they come from.
As Adam Bushman pointed out on our crossover episode, these air coaches that come from a very similar from very similar coaching tree.
They have very similar mentalities in terms of a high intelligence system that takes a lot to get into and to understand.
And that's something that we've heard Connolly speak to.
And, as I mentioned, some of the players around the Nets still finding that rhythm, figuring out how we want, how we want to work together within this unit.
Fourth season for Kenny actions in 94 1 61 with the 3 69 1% for the Brooklyn Nets as he prepares to get his team underway here.
Nets going to traditional black jerseys and uniforms here in this one, and you know we'll see in the early going.
What we can expect is the handshakes happen, and Jared Allen moves towards the centre circle and tip off.
We'll be highlighting a couple different stat lines as we move through it, certainly.
But as we go into the first full wire to wire live streaming cast, I'm gonna try to do my best to vary between what we're seeing in live game action, and then how it correlates to what we've seen so far this season.
What players are known for.
I think Bogdanovich, who came off a little bit of an off night against Golden State, though not required for him to have a big game.
He's going to be a guy from the perimeter.
He's certainly a strong player.
He likes to get into the lane as well.
So I think we can see a combination of elements in terms of what his game conduce impacting the Brooklyn Nets on this one.
Alan gets its secure to Garrett Temple and we'll get underway as Temple moves it down low, too.
Kyrie Irving And right now, Donovan Mitchell d ing up on him.
What you would expect from a Utah Jazz standpoint, I think at least early in this one quick jumper, fade in the lane, missed off left by Kyrie.
Irving rebounded by Gobert, and we'll start to work into the offenses.
Bogdanovich has it off on the side, swinging back to the top of the key to go bare, and we'll see how the Nets are able to rotate around, stick with their defensive assignments, work through the screenplay that Utah's going to set up, try to get easy looks.
Connelly, with a pull a pop, Not dissimilar.
We saw from Carney there and on Lee. He knocks it down.
And as we said this, I think Connolly you'll start to see him getting this rhythm here.
And it looks like it's gonna be the case so far.
Coming around a quick screen, Joe Harris touches a rate back to Kyrie.
Opened the lane, drops it off tow, Alan re gathers many hook off rim, and early.
Mrs Gilbert was there to make an impact on the play, Connolly coming back the other way and offer him on a three point attempt at the top of the key there by Mitchell and Tory on Prince with a quick heat check.
Early off back rim, though, rebound long to get to Garrett Temple back out to Tori on prints at the bottom of the key.
He goes baseline up and under and gets the Nets on the board here to tie it early at 2 10 34 to go here in the first as the team starts to work into their offense.
I just want to go ahead and quickly highlight a couple of the other key points that we were talking about we mentioned that the Nets are obviously third and scoring having a nice success rate there.
Another factor as the Jazz missed on a little pull up jumper and the Jazz.
Sorry, the Nets will move the other way with Joe Harris driving and lane against column Lee and pull up top and it goes down for Joan.
Get him into an early rhythm.
The Nets are also a team that this second in rebounds, so certainly that could be a strength for them.
Their field goal percentage roll.
And we want to just highlight some of the numbers that we're seeing as far as where the Utah Janice stack up in this one Utah Jazz or 23rd in rebounds.
So you know you wonder about if the Nets can make that kind of a key component of their game in this one.
As Jared, How does a great job staying outs to keeping down on his feet against Donovan Mitchell, though he hits from the baseline there on a little jumper heading the other way.
Another pull up for Kyrie not going down, and it's Gobert rebounding and dishing to Connelly to head the other way.
The other part of you talked about the points, Obviously, the Utah Jazz strong on defense, a little bit middle of the road in terms of their offensive output and then the other.
The other number. We always want to look at that field goal percentage.
As I said, The net, sir, looking very strong early in this one as a fadeaway three does not go buckle.
Bear goes off of Cairo's hands and back into Connelly here, and the Jazz will get a bonus possession.
Nice slashing pass and a great job by Jared Allen.
He gets up in challenges, go bare, swats it away off, go bear out of bounds.
Change of possession to the Brooklyn Nets.
In terms of that field goal percentage, I just want to make sure we get it up here and take a look.
Oh, the Utah Jazz air coming in 10th.
So, you know, in spite of the fact that they're not necessarily putting up a ton of points as Tory on Prince gets a great feed from Kyrie Irving and knocks out an open three, great to see him starting to find that rhythm.
And so far in this one, I would say as we crossed the 8 40 mark, the Nets are challenging defensively.
Joe Harris marking Bogdanovich currently kyrie out on Connolly.
As you would expect, you have Alan kind of leaning in and out of this laying here, trying to keep his eye and a force turn over there.
Sorry, as Allen's trying to keep his eye on Go Bear.
Kyrie does a great job making, making Connolly force himself to pick up that dribble, tries to ditch the outside, goes into the stands.
And another check here.
Garrett Temple, top of the key Mrs.
On a three point attempt.
And we'll see if the Nets again confined that rhythm and consistency, whether it is from beyond the arc er in the lane, Joe Harris sticks around and Pestana Mitchell down low, read down to Jared Allen's.
So far, so good in terms of defensive presence here in early 74 lead for the Brooklyn Nets.
As we see Temple working off a screen now dishes, too.
Kyrie, with Connolly watching him, crosses him up, drives inside the lane on a three on one dish is underneath Tiu Alan Little bit cornering the basket there, but he finds Garrett Temple at the top for a knockdown.
Something we've seen a little bit as an early time out is cold by the Utah Jazz.
We talked about this on the podcast leading into the season.
We talked about it early in the season.
Him finding that consistency and ability to understand.
Get cornered at the basket. It's okay.
See where your open players are.
In that situation, you had go bare and another defender biting Adam.
Somebody has to be open.
He correctly identifies Temple.
The top of the key.
It's an easy knock down three and a nice lead here Early, 10 4 for the U, For against the Utah Jazz for the Brooklyn Nets.
Been very exciting to see this early on here.
I was a little concerned if you listened in on the podcast at all.
I wasn't sure what to expect in this matchup, but so far so good, of course, as we all know, when Eastern Conference teams going either way, when you make these trips out West, it certainly can become fatigue.
Setting in a certain point, is Game three for the Nets.
They still have a couple more to go before they head back home against the Indiana Pacers later in the month.
But this is historically a team that has had some success with the Brooklyn Nets.
Ah, Utah has an agents who record since 2014 2015 season against the Brooklyn Nets, and that is ah, tied for the third best record against any opponent for them.
Another factor that, of course, have to bring up is this is a team that's five and Owen home so far this season.
So they've obviously been one protecting home court and finding that rhythm and certainly using the crowd to their advantage.
So this is the type of game where when you come off a back to back and you're if you're Utah Jazz coming back to back against the Golden State Warriors, Brooklyn Nets, you've had you've had that time in between to rest.
So you'd like to think you just go ahead and throw that Phoenix game in the rear view, come out with high energy and and a strong tempo and, you know, short memories of athletes, right? You You would think that the Phoenix Suns game could really be demoralizing for this roster And yet early on here, we're already seeing them do some of the things that we liked and saw them do against the Portland Trail Blazers.
And we hope that they can continue to bear that out here as we get into some of the numbers that we're seeing so far.
Early returns to for three for prints from the field, already finding his rather than one from beyond the arc.
Leading the team with five points, you got Joe Harris knocking down his one attempt, plus grabbing two rebounds, both on the defensive side of the ball.
As we know when you're an undersized roster, it's about gang rebounding.
That's how you end up being Hi in rebounds stat lines, Even though you're an undersized team across the board talked about.
Temple has three points, one of those knock down from beyond the arc, a rebound and assist in this one.
And, of course, Alan has his assistance well on a rebound to go along with it.
Kyrie Irving over two from the field over one from beyond the arc with an assistant.
This I think any time, it's not about saying I don't want to see Kyrie, Irving score.
But when you can see the other players doing well in the team, it speaks volumes to what they could do later in the game.
We've already seen it early in the season.
Kyrie Irving can turn it on offensively whenever he wants to.
You don't worry about him, but you do want to get other guys in rhythm, and I'd like to see them continue to get your Harris looks as ah as we get back into the live game action here again.
Joe Harris, watching Bogdanovich through the lane comes off a screen, drives through up and over Joe Harris.
They're gonna call a foul on Joe.
Pretty decent defense there from him.
But Bogdanovich, though they look like they're relatively sane from a height standpoint, is the N B A. Adjusted.
Everyone size a little bit.
Certainly Bogdanovich is a bigger, more physical presence than Joe Harrison.
Hill heads the line for his first free throws of the game.
You guys can let me know if this is too big of a too big of a cup for take.
I don't know if it plays on video or not, but as we get into the mist first attempt there 7 31 to go here in the first.
So far, so good from the Brooklyn.
That's showing good rhythm defensively.
Another aspect that we have talked about before was communication.
So much of what you're going to see on the defensive side is not just about staying with your man, but also when those screens come into play, you need to be calling out for the switches.
You'd be letting your teammates know what you want to see as Joe Harris goes into the lane, goes up in under but can't finish at the rim heading the other direction here.
Donovan Mitchell coming off the screen, ditches rate underneath with a kick outs about Donna bench knocking down the three.
With O'Neill finding the assists there on that one, he really went in bang bodies and still found the open man solid possession in transition there from the Utah Jazz, Alan to Joe Harris tries to get it as a Tory on prints turn over their prince gets back on D.
But Bogdanovich can still finish at the rim, and quickly we find ourselves back tied at 10 apiece.
Here in this one, I talked about it before is Kenny? Atkinson called a quick time out and gets an arrest here just to maybe go over some early things that he's not necessarily excited that he's been seeing.
But turn over something you want to avoid.
So far, so good.
But don't get careless with the ball.
You know that's not a miscommunication there for Joe Harris.
It's just don't say a lazy pass, but you gotta wait to see where that defender is going to be.
Is he stepping out too guard against your passes? You want to move around the perimeter on offense, and if so pressured defensively at that point, you can wait and see.
So far, Nets are shooting 40% from the field, 40 from beyond the arc.
And the Utah Jazz were looking at a four of nine, just over 37% from the field while knocking down one of their 33 point attempts.
So far, so good again.
I'm part of this feels it is going to be my theme for this one.
What? I am gonna be curious now, though, as we were getting down into that six minute mark in the first quarter, this is where we start to see some of the bench players come in.
I want to see how did Woody looks in this one? I loved what he gave you that 33 point performance a couple games ago, and it really seemed like he was starting to take his aggressive attacking mentality and harness it and utilize it in both facets, right post the temple of the court and then look for that easy open three in transition, posted tempo up the court and then cross over and drive to the lane against the defender.
That variation that Spencer Damon he can give you offers you versatility that keeps the defense guessing.
And then, of course, from from a second unit standpoint, keeps you in a position to stay out of.
Stay out ahead of your oppositions bench unit.
And as we know when, when the bench wins, usually your team can win.
The two key components is that and then always turn over.
So both teams doing a good job early in this one from the turnover regard.
We'll be interested to see how they play this out.
Most we're gonna keep an eye on.
Now we hear that You know, we know that Temple has moved into that starting rotation.
So when the when the sub start coming in here, we'll take a look and see who comes in in replacement of Temple on that second unit, My thoughts were probably know Wahba, but again, I'm keeping my eye out for Nicholas Claxton to get a bit of a run here.
I'm gonna beat this drum all game long all season long.
I think he could be a big component for them as we move through the action.
You know, the Nets in the first quarter, 30 plus points allowed in six out of the nine games this season, averaging 30 points per game over the first in 1st 3/4 of action.
So this is certainly something that you want to see them cut down on.
And we're right now almost midway through here.
And this is what you're hoping for? Your holding a 10 points right now.
Now, the reason why Kenny Atkinson calls that quick time out is to go over some of those defensive assignments.
Make sure that the communication is happening and get back into rhythm.
Continue to do what you do on the offensive side of the ball.
But you know the Nets need to start finding ways to hold opponents under 30 in two or three out of the 4/4 so that we get into the fourth.
You're starting to find yourself in that 101 105 range as Kyrie pulls up on three point attempt.
Look like you might have been tipped there, but a quick I thought it was a turnover, they're gonna say stepped out of bounds.
So it's out of bounds on O'Neill trying to move up after the missed three pointer.
Spencer didn't Woody now checks into the game as Kenny Atkinson tries Thio figure out what went on there.
You also got Joe Angles coming in now defending Spencer Dinwiddie for the Utah Jazz.
You have Temple on the inbounds, still, with Tori on Prince Kyrie, Irving and Jared out on the floor, Floater in the lane for Kyrie goes down and then it's got a two point lead here.
So just one switch bringing in Spencer dignity and then basically maintain the rest of the starting unit.
So will be interesting to see how they continue to flex through this sitting extended minutes for the starting unit early in.
This one might make sense, given that you've gotten a little bit thin.
At depth now is Rudy Gobert works to the lane, kicks out to O'Neill, who now moves it to Bogdanovich, goes through the lane stuck with by Temple but re gathers off rim and Go bay are able to finish at the basket with Alan Kind of getting that size of gold Berman over the top.
He's going to get that to you, and you just want to see Alan.
It's a wait for that one to come off the rim. There.
Love to see him get a little more aggressive in attacking that rebound.
Another one of those miscommunications Kyrie thinks that he's going tohave is goingto have.
I believe it was Temple on that one going to the corner.
He, uh, actually does not go to the goes to the corner instead of going back up to the top of key turnover opportunity there.
But hustle play from Tori on Prince, a battle on the floor and it will stay with the Brooklyn Nets.
And I don't know if elegant go down officially is a turnover.
So you may have may have gotten lucky there.
Dimwit ian bands in the backcourt and he'll bring it up looking over Kenny Atkinson for the play called years to try to get their set screen set by Alan for touring on Prince.
Top of the key knocks down the three story on Prince finding that rhythm early in this one.
Great to see him bounce back, Kenny Atkinson said.
That's gonna be a part of it for any young player.
As Ingles tries to drop it off to go bare, Butt will get fouled by Tory on Prince as he was driving into the lane 15 12 with 5 23 to go here in the first and you see here on the replay, actually the ball spinning around in the back of the room there, Alan just kind of waiting to time it.
And unfortunately I ended up making it easy for Go Bear to wait and get over the top.
And there's the easy al you to go bear and it looks like they're going to go.
And one on this nice assist there from Connolly is again.
We talked about those guys starting to find that rhythm and go barrel, Go to the line for an extra one here.
And they're calling the foul on Jared and tried to go up and challenge, but got into the body of Colbert in that situation.
You like to see Alan just get vertical and try to get that SWAT.
If he can't angle Bear knocks down the third point of that three point play and we find ourselves still not up in 15 apiece, heading towards the five minute mark here in the first, you got dim Woody on ball with angles, depending on the perimeter drops into Alan the top of the key as he waits to see who's gonna come around for him and they're gonna call a moving screen against Spencer Dinwiddie and will be another turnover for the Nets, as Musa will now check in in this one and we'll see who he comes in for.
It's going to be for Garrett Temple in this, So certainly this is what we're talking about.
Where are the Nets gonna go for depth when you have Temple in the starting rotation? Little surprising music.
It's the run, but he have one in garbage time.
The other game against Phoenix, so it looks like Kenny Atkinson is gonna continue to try to give him an opportunity.
Certainly has length as a nice dump off there to go bare for the jam.
Easy jam O'Neill finding Go bear on the basket.
There, we'll see if muses length can be impactful defensively and if he could be under control on the offensive side, always had a little bit of issues.
Spencer Dinwiddie nearly turns it over.
Driving into the lane kicks it back out to Kyrie, who finds Den Woody in the corner for a knock down 3 18 17 lead here for the Brooklyn Nets.
With just over 4 20 to go in the first, Connolly dumps downloaded Bogdanovich deed up by Kyrie.
Irving swats it away from him out of bounds.
Retained possession for Utah.
So the pace has been good.
Ah, little bit of sloppy playing the offensive side, certainly, But even though James would he had had the near turnover there, he kicked it back to Kyrie.
Distant rate out some again found the spacing on the floor, found an open look and right now, nets or four of eight from downtown, shooting 50% while the Utah Jazz or just one of three, though three point shots are not necessarily a large component of their game.
You have a guy local Gobert who's gonna play a little bit closer to the basket from that center position, Not the new Age N B A.
Or maybe you're looking for big men to shoot from the perimeter.
Pull a pop from outside.
There does not go down for Utah as Go Bear.
They're gonna call it.
They're going to call another foul here on Jared Allen against Gilbert was going to say nice job by Alan Challenging as Irving came down with the rebound.
But as an Allen Mallory, I promise, I promise that was not a foul there, but the referees.
We're gonna go there, take a look at the replay here, going up together, they're gonna send.
So if they call it on Alan, he may have to take that foul.
But it's actually it was Kyrie, Irving, the Cayman and Coco Bears face.
The family's gonna go on out, and that makes two for him.
So he'll check out here.
The four minute mark popular, probably gonna spell here, no matter what.
As we see used to try to work around offensively.
They're gonna go with another foul here on this one.
Looks like it will be going against music, as O'Neal was driving through and underneath the basket.
Be interesting to see here now is the pies, the foul start to pile up and O'Neal goes to the line.
This can become a factor as well as you move through.
The back end of any quarter started saying guys to the line.
That's where they can make some headway.
And the Brooklyn Nets to get rebounds, pushed the game in transition space.
The floor finding open looks.
So seems like we're starting to get into a little bit more of that area where Utah Jazz is probably more comfortable, right under 100 points given up on the defensive side.
And right now, this is interesting to see how the next four minutes go to close out the quarter.
You've got DeAndre Jordan checking into the game for Jared Allen with Tori on Prince Spencer didn't but he still Kyrie Irving playing along with music.
Kyrie gets the ball from dimwit.
He drives into the lane against O'Neal, elevates and gets the jumper to go in the lane 2019 here for the Brooklyn Nets.
So certainly, you're seeing Irving started.
Kinda push the tempo there, get himself in the lane and take over a little bit offensively as music tries to fight through the Gobert screen.
Hanging and missing is moody, and we mentioned in the pregame getting get started, get his run here.
After that injury gets fouled by Moussa and he's gonna go to the line.
We'll start to take a look here as the fouls.
Like we said, starting to pile up a little bit is certainly going to become a concern as you move through a game where you don't have a ton of depth moody a The line knocks down his first field goal there, and we'll wait to see what we can expect here as there you go.
I love when I call for it works out.
Nicholas Claxton checking into the 3 30 mark he comes in for it.
Looks like it's gonna be for Tori on prints there, so he's gonna check in and replace the power forward position.
You have a line up with Kyra Urine Spencer Day money.
Nicholas Claxton, DeAndre Jordan and Musa remaining out on the floor.
Did anybody tries to get the ball to Irving? Takes the foul by Joe Ingles.
So there, that's what you kind of want to hopefully get here.
That is necessarily driving in the basket, getting a foul.
But get some of these Utah Jazz players into foul trouble, get them out of their rhythm and just try to go paint.
You know you wanna go shot for shot here.
If you're gonna take some licks and have some guys checking out of foul trouble, try to do the same for them.
Used on the inbounds.
Get to Jordan at the top of the key.
Dumps it off, too.
Kyrie Irving, who tries to return the dish bad look from the Andre, can get his hands on that bull turn over Brooklyn. Other direction.
He drives and kicks out for angles, angles, dumps it off and a turnover going the other way.
Now Nicholas Claxton outrunning, gives it to Musa.
Musa drives the lane up in N listen.
That's a second year player in you, so that's Nicholas Class and showing you can run the floor, has good vision, gets the ball to a score.
A nice bucket there.
That's a great look from class in and a nice finish from you.
So who's been struggling to find that rhythm? Little pull a pop for Donovan Mitchell, Just off the elbow goes down 23 20 years.
We head towards the two and 1/2 minute mark here in the first.
I think it's a lot of things, though, like so far from the Nancy.
I really don't have too many complaints early outside of some foul concerns, didn't would.
He has it with Mitchell guarding him now defensively clacks and comes out to set a high screen game.
When he gets to switch, he's taking him off the dribble.
One on one ball here, kicked out.
If I'm useful with a deep three, knocks it down and this is this.
Hey, listen, I've been a little bit hard on you, so but he's looking sharp here as we talk about Give a guy an early run baptism by fire from Kenny Atkinson, paying dividends early, hear music finally starting to find himself here early in the season as the Utah Jazz will inbound here and Mitchell will start to bring it up the floor.
You still got Bogdanovich now back there with sorry angles back on the floor there with Colbert, you have O'Neal.
A driving in the basket was Ingles cannot get it to go.
Goes to the floor.
No foul call, Musa staying aggressive, tacking down the lane up and off the glass and in for to listen.
These are the shots that we haven't seen him knocking down early and in the game when you don't have Caris Levert, somebody has to step up and take on that point share.
And it looks like right now, certainly for that second unit, Yusa is being effective.
Bad shot from Ingles from downtown goes off side rim, but maintaining possession on the rebound was Utah can't hit it from the top of the foul line, thereby Moody and will go the other direction with care.
Kyrie Irving getting his pocket almost picked by Joe Ingles.
We'll see if it's just out of bounds or if they're giving up foul call here as they show the replay of Klaxon doing a great job driving them.
Elaine finding the open runner in a situation there was basically a two on two play, surprising that Utah wasn't able to get themselves a little bit better set.
But we talked about it right out in transition.
Let's get some easy looks again showing the show you replay there of Musa driving down the lane, getting it off glass and in This is what you want picked his pocket just out of bounds.
DeAndre Jordan found Spencer Dinwiddie.
They called Goaltending on no matter what, but he still got to go through 29 23 minute, and I have to go here in the first tea break.
Good stuff friends as Utah brings it across half court here.
A lot of positive takeaway in this one as Donovan Mitchell gets off the screen, knocks down an open look, their musical in down to DeAndre Jordan, and it'll be amused, actually bringing up the floor here.
Still, Claxton Den Witty.
And now Joe Harris has checked back in for Kyrie Irving.
As music swings it over, Spencer Dinwiddie gathers and hoist up a disgusting looking three ball, the entrepreneur a little bit off from downtown as your Harris will try to stick with Donovan Mitchell here, pull up, pop down and in just inside the lane there and quickly.
Now, with under a minute to go here in the 1st 29 27 small lead for the Brooklyn Nets, we'll see how they can close out here.
And then as the first quarter wraps up, we'll just dive inside some of the numbers here and let you know we're seeing in terms of contributions across the board who's doing what for both sides of the ball.
And then what we hopefully look to see years into second day, nobody drives to the lane.
Can't get the up under scoop.
It does take a foul, will go to the line shooting, too.
39 seconds to go here, nets up to in this one as of right now, and as it starts to wrap up, we will just we'll go ahead and start to take a look at what we're seeing here so far.
Talked about it, Tori on prints.
Still looking good.
He had eight minutes Action.
Eight points, three of four from the field, two or three from downtown Kyrie Irving to a 503 from beyond the arc, but gave you four points and also through two and two assists there in the first quarter.
Like some of the facilitation that you saw from him.
Big bonus when you go into the bench, Spencer Dinwiddie, adding to the point total that he's putting up rate now is he just knocked down his first free throw.
You have seven points to this point, possibly eight, to come here, but three assists as well.
So in just six minutes of action, he's finding some open shooters on the floor and giving the Nets and opportunity and these players around him to get into a rhythm, going the other way, cross up and pull up for Donovan Mitchell off the rim.
Claxton flies in and grab that rebound, and this will be close to just over.
A six second differential between play clock and game clock is Spencer **** Buddy comes off the screen set by Jordan, another screen set by Georgia's driving the lane against Mitchell. Up and over.
Can't get it to go. But again, another Falco.
All this is what we talked about.
If you're going to see your team starting against a foul trouble, stay aggressive, staying that attacking mentality.
Spencer, didn't we has shown the ability to do that throughout his career.
Showed it a couple of games to go under control, and he's doing it here in this one, certainly.
And so go back to the line.
With 19 seconds to go, Spencer demeans the show on the line here.
33 in the game against Portland, 18 against Phoenix.
Not a lot to take away from the Phoenix game.
Nobody was looking particularly good there, but certainly from a scorer standpoint, he's been doing a nice job for this team so far.
Well, go ahead and let this wrap up the first quarter here, and then we'll continue taking a look at what we've seen from both sides of the ball here in terms of production.
Bringing it up on the left side of the floor is Joe Ingles.
He'll take the screen, drives the lane against Joe Harris.
They're gonna call a foul here again.
They're gonna call it against Joe Harris.
That would make two on him with nine seconds to play.
Joe, certainly not a fan of the coal we talked about on the podcast.
And on here is well, that Joe Harris is a guy who's gonna give you Max effort every single game, and I think he's certainly a willing defender.
But again, because of where we play him with position, he please.
He's gonna be outside a lot of times.
So you are asking a lot of him, and to some extent you have to at least be impressed that he does stay in front a lot of these assignments and certainly could be a pest.
But as Joe Ingles hits down his first free throw, you're gonna get with nine seconds to go.
Kyrie Irving checking back into the game for one last offensive possession as well as I'm gonna say Tory on Prince, I believe, as Joe Harris will check out.
And I believe Nicholas Claxton also checked out yet So they go for offense here with Kyrie coming in along with Temple.
Sorry, along with Tori on Prince Still DeAndre Jordan on the floor.
Nine seconds to go, looking for it gets it into Didn't win.
He didn't, but he finds a running Kyrie Irving streaks through the lane up and over off glass can get it to go, but DeAndre Jordan and cleaning up the glass.
First time you get to say his name here and 1/2 court heave comes up short.
So nice job by DeAndre Jordan trailing that play by Kyrie getting the rebound and poking it in nets Finish up the first quarter on a 35 to 29 lead.
Nothing but positives here.
I'm not gonna I'm not gonna really go to negative after this first quarter.
This is pretty much everything you could have hoped for from the Brooklyn Nets.
Let's dive inside the numbers here and tell you what you got.
We already mentioned Tory on prints so far in seven minutes. Action.
Just the two points wanted to on field goals.
No three point shots in this one has to has contributed to rebounds.
Have the one bad turn over.
But again, if you want me to go a little bit negative here, I do want to see him getting his looks from beyond the arc.
It's an important thing to see the overall.
If the team is playing well as as a unit, then you can sacrifice him not getting those looks.
But over the course of this game, I think you're gonna need to see him get those.
We uh, we moved on a line here.
Early foul trouble. Just eight minutes over one from the field.
Had a rebound, Hadn't assistant.
Not a lot of let's look at their just yet, and they talk about Garrett Temple going eight minutes one or two from the field.
Hit that shot from beyond the arc.
Has that rebound and assist in this one.
4 points for Kyrie Irving having those two assists in the first quarter despite the missed at the buzzer.
There are just before the buzzer, he had Jordan come in and clean it up.
Who's giving you giving you those couple of points there? Nicholas Claxton, He went ahead as we try to draw up these numbers here, has a rebound, has an assist, has a steel plus five on the floor.
So klaxon contributing.
And then the big one, right? Deandra? Sorry, Musa.
Rather four minutes of action.
Three for three from the field hits the three pointer that he gets throws in plus four rating and seven points.
You know you don't have Caris.
Getting seven points from a guy like Musa is huge Den Woody again leading this second unit going to a +31 or two from beyond the arc.
He has nine points contributing this one.
The big number there for me, though, is the assist, and part of that is you need music to hit down the open look when he has it in order for for for Spencer didn't get credit there, so three assists, three rebounds, four for four from the line for Spencer Dinwiddie as well.
So he's doing the things you want to see.
By the way, that's her four for four from the line overall.
So the only guy who got there was Spencer Dinwiddie, and that's something that you have to stay attacking.
Colbert is obviously a presence, but you need to get some of these guys into some early foul troubles.
If you wanna have an opportunity as the second quarter will get ready to kick off with which over to the Jazz side of things.
Bogdanovich, two of five, hit his 36 points, contributing their Gobert has been a presence, going three or five as well.
He has six total rebounds, three apiece on the offensive, decent defensive side of the ball with a seven point contribution and then Donovan Mitchell going for nine from the field.
03 from beyond the arc so far in this one, given you eight points and to this point, Connelly.
A relatively quiet night so far, one a one from the field and an assist getting into the second quarter game action here.
Ingles, on a three point attempt, comes up off the rim and Spencer, demoted, will take the re down from Joe Harris, and he will kick it out to Clacks and Claxton dishes to Joe Harris.
Your hair's drives up into the lane can't get it to go, and they're gonna get the foul.
Cole here going against Moody under the basket.
So even though we're not seeing the three point attempts from Joe Harris, he stayed aggressive, gotten in there and tried to attack of interested to see if they go against Moody A here or against the big man for Utah.
I'm away to take a look at what we have here as your hair steps up to the line early days in the second quarter, here and on the season.
So far, if you're wondering why I'm always calling for it.
Joe Harris 50% from beyond the arc early in the season.
We all know what he can bring to the table.
So little surprising is not getting those shots.
But points are points as he knocks down.
The first of all, it's not to the second.
Claxton didn't Woody Joe Harris, along with Musa back in the game now to go along with DeAndre.
Joe Harris has struggled a little bit fromthe line as he goes, one of two on that trip. Mediated.
Top of the key looks driving Elaine against Musa. Turnaround.
Hang in the air.
Offer him but a rebound and no foul.
We'll start thinking about DeAndre.
Jordan Valley gets the rebound, gets it out to dinner.
Witty, and we'll move back the other direction.
Year dimly working in the lane.
One on one gets a bit of a switch here.
We'll see if you can get down low.
So far, nothing doing.
And I just want to take a look here and see who we also have on the floor currently for Utah so we can set that lineup as well as Mitchell with a beautiful drive through the lane.
Euro, step up and under virtually a one on three for the bucket.
There, 36 31 10 40 to go in the first.
When he gets it out to DeAndre Jordan top of key and works it around with an errant past looking for and it looks like we'll see what they're gonna call here, that ball get out of bounds and might have angles got in on the steel lazy pass from DeAndre Jordan looking to get to Musa.
I don't know what the plan was there because music was guarded, stationary, looking for a pull up shot there and a bit of an Aaron Aaron past there from Jordan, though, Angles taps it out of bounds.
So it's gonna be inbounded by Joe Harris.
Thio to Jordan to Musa Musa, back to Joe Harris off the front rim on three point attempts.
First appointed time.
So there you go.
Got to get those shots going.
Excuse me a little bit.
The allergies in the season here as Ingles with a nice backdoor feed, but cannot get a shot off their from moody A underneath the basket again.
Nice job by the Nets defense running him off of that they're gonna call a foul here on Spencer.
Doing what? He thought he got a clean hit on Moody.
Ese wants to go up, but Moody A will go to the line for two and we'll go ahead and just get the action on here right now.
Recent in the lineups for you.
Harris Klaxon, Jordan Dominion.
Musa, As we said for the Nets and on the floor for the Jazz.
Jonathan Mitchell, Jeff Green, Joe Ingles, Bradley and Moody A.
So it's been rather the center position.
He got fouled on the offensive side there at one point and also came up big on the defensive side with a re down.
Also Currently, Moody A at the line here has two points so far in this one and will be interesting to see if Jeff Green, who had mentioned talking with Adam Bushmen of the jabber Jazz podcast, was saying.
I haven't seen him find his rhythm early this season either.
Struggling a little bit with his shot from the on the R P.
Curious to see if he can start to find that against a less than stellar defensive unit.
Dim buddy dishes out the clacks on the perimeter gets it right back, clacks, and trying to set a screen and get the switch.
He does get that accomplished.
And then what he drives through underneath the basket, back out the klaxon with one to shoot klaxon hoist up a three ugly off the backboard, does touch rim, but certainly not a pretty shot and even know klaxon does have some range on his perimeter game.
I don't think you want him trying to pull up that That last second opportunity in the shot clock driving in a lean against Musa with and go does not go down.
But a nice rebound effort there from Bradley gets it back up and in.
And we have ourselves an airtight 36 34 match up here in the second quarter.
Didn't would be working at the offense.
Gets it from Spencer Dio from DeAndre Jordan can't get the three to go.
A great rebound from class it and takes the well.
I think you're gonna call offensive foul here on klaxon.
So the young man trying to get the work done looks like he probably grabbed their swatted a player out of the way they're going for that re down, and he picks up the foul to be going the other way here.
Unfortunately, as Noah will check into the game here for Nicholas Claxton in a 36 34 games.
So we talked about we thought we would see some No Wahba.
They went to Musa first, and Nawab quickly picks up a foul immediately.
And that will send Utah back to the line here as it will be pardoned.
Me, Jeff Green now getting getting to the line here so I'll get an opportunity.
Hasn't seen his shot going out necessarily, but still saying aggressive and getting opportunities with line.
And as we've been talking about, if you are the Brooklyn Nets, these fouls, you wanna try to stay aggressive on the offensive end because you're already seeing them start to add up here.
And with Claxton picking up one there on that last drive on the offense, his side of the ball, you know you're thin, it's on thin, it big men, but you are thin when you have a player out.
So certainly you want to see the Nets. Just trust a healthy.
Keep the Utah Jazz off the line as the 1st 1 falls for Jeff Green, looking to tie the game appear at 36 with 9 13 to go in a second.
Clean through, knotted up in 36 as knowable will inbound to Didn't he 70 run for the Utah Jazz here as it highlights on the screen, and this is how you should have nodded back up.
Slow start in second quarter here for the Brooklyn Nets.
This is primarily the second unit, and this is where you want to make sure you still find offense as they're going to call the moving screen again here.
Oh, those are the ones that are killers.
It's on DeAndre Jordan.
You hate to see that happen.
He dishes the ball off after dinner, but he had set the screen to get Joe Harris free.
He's gonna be on Spencer Dinwiddie throws his hip out a little bit as Donovan Mitchell was tryingto work around and hold the defense against Joe Harris.
We have ah Irving coming in for Spencer Dinwiddie, who sits down there.
You go with his third personal foul, So these are the things you can't see happen nice and only in the past by DeAndre Jordan driving the other way quick from Garrett Temple up and in 38 36 breaking that seven overrun by the Utah Jazz.
Quickly back the other way, though, trying to get back into their offense.
And we'll go ahead and try to reset these lineups for you as well as Utah tries to work with.
You got Jeff Green out of the side.
There you had Irving actually on him and a near steal by No Wahba on the assist defense gets the touch.
Forces it out of bounds will decide out for the Utah Jazz on the floor.
Now you have Harris, Jordan Temple, Nawab A and Irving and for the Jazz, Mitchell Green, Joe Ingles, Bradley and move.
So angles, check back in there and and now just coming back into looks like we're going to get Connelly back in the game here as well.
Gets a dance about Donna *****, You just checked in and he gets swallowed up in the lane and I stopped by Irving and Nawab a.
Combining for that.
A slap foul by Connolly is the water was driving towards the lane.
So what? We talked about right now you've got.
Now you have both know Wahba and Temple on the floor.
It's a nice job by Irving.
Keeping his feet away doesn't commit the foul, allows the water to come back over the top of Bogdanovich and get the steal.
He quickly takes it the other way and gets the foul on Connolly.
So nice job here from the Nets defensively, and this is kind of a nice unit right now.
When you have no Wahba and Temple on the floor, it's giving you defensive presence.
And that helps out a little bit with Joe Harris and Kyrie Irving there who should provide offense for you.
And then, of course, you still have DeAndre Jordan in there as they're trying to give as long of a spell for Jared Allen, who had a little bit early foul trouble there in the first 40 to 36 nets.
Now coming back on a little mini for a run as Connolly looks for a three front rim.
No good off, too Kyrie Irving coming up to court the other way, Kyrie Irving with a dish and another bad set of hands from DeAndre Jordan can't get it.
It goes the other way.
A great job from from Nawab on the defensive presence will go out of bounds and be still retained by the Utah Jazz.
But no Wahba paying dividends here early and getting this little run of minutes.
He's showing some things here on ah, on the defensive side of the ball that I think you really want to see from this unit altogether.
And he'd give you a spark here defensively as Utah inbounds it and we're going to get a foul.
Offensively, It looks like it's going to be on go bare, potentially there, going the other way, resetting it here now, with Bogdanovich back in along with no O'Neill, Connolly, Green and Gobert.
Still the same lineup of Harris Jordan Temple Nuada, an Irving for the Brooklyn Nets, 52% for the field.
For the Nets to just 36 4 the Utah Jazz pull up.
Pop does not go down for Kyrie Irving heading back the other way in a 40 36 game.
As Connolly Charles, find a way into the lane, they're gonna call a foul here, it looks like, and it will go against Temple on that one back to the line, goes Connelly.
Oh, it's been a pretty fast pace here, all things considered.
And as you think about the overall arc here with seven and I have to go in a 40 36 game, this is, you know, could be hovering depending on what goes on here.
And that's gonna push the temple a little bit and probably try to force these numbers to be trending Maurin that 105 110 kind of range get them where they wanna be.
Instead of getting pulled down into a little bit of a defensive struggle, those so far holding their own take a look.
Nets shooting from the field, 35 from beyond the arc and nearly 90% from line 78 on the back of a strong effort from Damian that first quarter 44 commonly missed his first shooting, his second.
Now, as the Utah Jazz find themselves going just 36 center field and only 12% from beyond the arc, that's certainly going to be a problem for them.
Excuse my Advil in the background as the Nets get into their offense.
DeAndre Jordan, still working with that hand off to Temple Temple with Connolly on his hip into the lane just below the foul line.
Knocked down off back board off glass for a little two point shot there.
And the Nets now find themselves on a nice run of their own.
Going 6161 run here for the Nets as Connolly dishes to Gobert down Elaine Little Wild from Connolly gets it to go Bear go Bear gets it right up to the glass and and 40 to 39 coming back the other way.
So far, I can't say that it was not a lot to hate here from the Nets.
Have five turnovers to this point.
Want to see them? Keep that number down? Certainly.
And now we're going to see a foul.
Cole here at the top of the key O'Neill against No, no, they're gonna call it against DeAndre.
Jordan, you see here to get a time out on the floor.
Not sure looked like that was gonna be a foul call on O'Neal against Jordan.
But wait until we come back from the commercial break and see what we're looking at here again.
Diving inside these numbers a little bit.
Kyrie Irving Still not finding a rhythm.
Just two of seven from the field.
Second game in a row where he struggled a little bit.
Ah, wait to see if Tory on Prince gets back into some action.
Just nine minutes so far for him.
Probably going to see him come into this next unit rotation here.
And right now it's, you know, it's been den witty and, honestly, that effort from you.
So in the first quarter that had carried the day so far for this team.
Just a 10 7 split here in favor of Utah in the second quarter about just just a little bit more than half halfway to go here in the first in the second quarter and a hair over seven minutes to go in the first half.
So ah, lots of like here, limiting the turnover.
Certainly, if the Nets can keep this number around five, then I think you can really move towards the second half and feel good about what you've done so far on the other side of the bowl rate, now just four turnovers for the Jazz.
So both teams doing a nice job here.
A couple of sloppy plays from the Nets, certainly, and likewise, really, for the for the Jazz as well.
But if both teams can keep can eliminate the turnovers and this one, you get to just see clean games and see who's playing better overall, as of right now, the fact that it's a three point game and your shooting 50% from the field.
With the Utah Jazz shooting just 38 the big concern has to be again right now.
12 of 15 fromthe line Excuse me for the Utah Jazz, so they're shooting 80% for the line.
We're shooting 87 but with just eight attempts.
So this is starting to get dealt into double figures here in terms of disparity.
And that's going to be a factor if you can't get yourself into ah, defensive lock down mode here without fouling right now, they're doing a good job sticking with players but still taking taking on too many fouls.
And it's not allowing guy like Jared Allen to get into a rhythm.
And then certainly you're gonna wait and see what happens.
Take a look here if I can pull up what we have in terms of fouls on individual players so far.
That'll be an interesting look to take and just see what we've seen to this point.
Reed rebounds right now also in favor of the Utah Jazz, 17 13 at this point as the broadcast on the S network, highlighting that it was assistant coach Kenny Atkinson under Boudin.
Older, as was the coach for the Utah Jazz.
Again, we mentioned the pregame coming from the same tree, and that bears out here.
So you know these air.
These are the other two coaches that I think around the league.
And, ah, Adam Bush would mention this when we're podcasting about how he wants to see Kenny acts and get some notoriety around the league makes a lot of sense.
But, you know, I think it is when you're when you're in a fan base for Utah Jazz or for the Brooklyn Nets, you know you're often just looking and waiting to see when the rest of the league picks up on.
What you feel is a strong has been a strong play for you.
Joe Harris drives that underneath the basket, kicks it out to Temple and he will get found on a three point attempt.
And we'll go to the line.
This we're talking about, Joe.
Sorry, Jeff Green called, called for the foul there, and this is what you want.
You want to get those foul called.
Normally, you wanted be driving the lane and attacking.
But if they want to make a sloppy play defensively and foul on a three point shot, you take that all game long.
And now Temple as an opportunity to get to the line and started even out.
This free throw disparity knocks down the first here as we will go ahead and once again get our lineups reset for you on the floor.
Irving Temple, Jordan Prints and Alan for the Nets, with Bogdanovich O'Neill go bare Connelly and Green on the floor for the Utah Jazz.
To this point, Bogdanovich's just two of six from the field, one for one from beyond the arc.
Six points will take that as a win.
Right now, you're not seeing a ton of offense from this team outside of Donovan Mitchell having a strong game and go bears certainly getting some work done, but I think if you highlighted one of the matchups that you want the Nets to tryto win and see if you could frustrate Bogdanovich, that would be one of them, and they're done it so far.
Goldberg gets this ball just off the elbow, tries to hand it off about Donna *****, and they're going to Cole and offensive foul on Rudy Gobert as Joe Harris tried to fight through that screen again.
Pesky defense from Joe Harris fighting through the screens, willing to get in there and take those hits.
Basically, what ends up happening is go bear.
Almost hip checks Bogdanovich back in two.
Joe Harris and that's what leads to the foul call there.
And as Irving works up in under all class buckets, 47 39 Brooklyn Nets heading into the 6 20 mark of the second quarter.
Connolly coming back the other way for the Utah Jazz.
Getting to goal.
Bear the top of the key.
Gobert to Jeff Green with an open look.
Can't hit the three, but Tori on Prince does not get over the screen there by Go bear something you're probably gonna want to clean up in the long run.
Pull up pop off glass four.
Kyrie, Irving and the Foul.
Here is an end One scenario Looks like we're talking about it and he's gonna get up to go line here.
47 39 6 40 goats.
We've seen the last two possessions that, uh, Kyrie Irving is taking that attacking mentality looking to get into the lane.
And he's not worried about whether or not it's ah, you know, hit in the perimeter shock, necessarily have seen him avoid some of those pull up looks in this one to this point, and they're gonna call that found the floor.
It looks like he's shooting two hits the first, and he could make it a 10 point lead for the Brooklyn Nets here if he can knock this down.
And Jared Allen now checking back into the game, replacing DeAndre Jordan as Kyrie knocks down his second free throw and the Nets give themselves a 70 run and 10 point lead 49th 49 to 39 here in the second, Connolly the top.
He's got Temple on him, and you see Joe Harris fighting to prevent the ball from James Bogdanovich doing a nice job preventing it Connolly gets in the lane.
Little scoop shot over.
Alan knocks it down.
41 2 49 Interesting to see how the Nets can close out this quarter.
Now they had a seven home runs snapped right there as Irving penetrates into the lane, gets caught with a corked up his dribble.
It gets it out to Taurean Prince, who drives the lane, hangs off glass and in solemn struggle and not make those shots get caught up in the air a couple of times in the previous match against being sons here, able to find the basket and give the Nets and eight point lead.
Gobert trying to get the ball against about Donovan's Jo hair, is doing a great job denying the bolt.
They do get a tomb in the lane, picks up his dribble, Alan on switch, rattles, outs in the broken.
The way Taurean Prince pushing the pace on the perimeter.
He is going to take an offensive foul right there.
Nice job, but by Donovan planting himself, there is talk about this in the last one, touring on prints.
From that standpoint, he's not look necessarily strong.
Getting into the lane at times.
He's looked nice, cutting on the perimeter, working the based on ahead of the bucket, as he did on the previous possession.
Getting into the lane.
But on this one, here is a little out of control, and Bogdanovich just doesn't nice job plans himself.
Takes the shoulder, and we'll be going the other way on a turnover and as oh, for Miss Layup in this scoop layup there from Connolly underneath the basket.
Look, we'll go there the way with Irving Irving against Connolly.
He gets it out to Temple, who tries to who's about to get into a shot there.
And then you see a foul call.
It looks like it's gonna go against gonna go against Bogdanovich.
Looks like he's trying to fight through there.
Might have been involved in some action. Will see here.
Tries to fight through the screen with Jared Allen, and he basically locks him.
He just locks his elbow around Jared Allen and Jared Allen very quickly with his own foul concerns.
Puts his arm of saying, I'm not doing anything here.
Probably could've gotten enough.
It could've gone either way, but it works out the Falco all happens, and Alan will go to line shooting to knocking down the first.
So that's certainly now you see some of those foul calls go the wrong way for you, and you feel like maybe it's one of those games where you're getting beaten up by the rest a little bit.
Now you're seeing it go there.
You go the other way against Utah and the Nets have now gotten themselves back to the line a number of times here.
And as we were looking for it, starting to even out that matchup in terms of free throw attempts, then we'll get another full box score here, see how these things match up as a nice up and under scoop from Connolly gets the bucket, 53 43.
Still a 10 point lead for the Brooklyn Nets as Tory on Prince brings along lot across the line, dishes it to Kyrie, Irving everything but the bucket.
Although Jared Allen, with the rebound, put back slam and I tell you, man, when he starts playing with little bit authority around the rim, it's a beautiful thing, and it comes off of those that penetrate penetration from Kyrie Irving willing to get in there and attack It forces the assist on the defensive side of the bowl.
And that allows Alito have a bit of an open look on a rebound and get back up for that bucket.
Donovan Mitchell driving the lane with the scoop shot over top.
Talyn's defense. Keeping in 10 point game here.
3 58 to go as Tony on Friends holds and waits for someone to come to take it from him.
It's gonna be a just Alan back to Prince, and they're not going to call.
It looks like gold.
There was a tip that one away from Prince out to an open look as he goes very front rim on a three point attempts there.
Not the prettiest thing we've seen there in terms of offensive possession, a little out of whack there.
Once again, Connolly, finding the lane getting down in their uncontested known in front of them, knocks down his shot.
That makes three in these last handful of possessions where Connolly's been able to assert himself and unfortunately, from Annette's perspective, that's a little bit of deja vu going back to the matchup against the Phoenix Suns where they were just driving and slashing through the lane with ease.
And as we do something to take a look here now, Connolly up to 12 points, going 46 Get into that lane like we talked about Donovan Mitchell's been kicking in 12 for them, and those air basically remain two scores to go along with, Of course, Gobert, who's got a little bit quiet here in the second quarter.
At least from an offensive standpoint, though, he had the nice defensive rejection there on the floater from Tori on prints.
Garrett Temple has been a contributor in this one for the Brooklyn Nets.
10 points, going three or four from the field and knocking down one of those 23 point attempts.
Also got to the line.
Three of three Kyrie Irving to of to Jared Allen to of to Joe Harris wanted to.
So all of a sudden we reset that the Nets, now 14 or 15 from the line, compare to guess what's still 12 of 15 by the Utah Jazz.
So all of a sudden, the Nets have had 73 throw attempts over this last stretch to none for the Utah Jazz, getting yourself into a balance and what do you seen? You've seen them now start to get that lead out to that 8 to 10 point range, sitting at eight right now, getting the line, forcing some issues, getting some guys into foul troubles.
Resetting the field goal percentage is the Nets were shooting just a hair under 53% right now from the field.
Utah still at 40.
Going 17 41 with just 11% from beyond the arc is not their strong suit, but certainly any team the league wants to shoot better than that from beyond the arc and 35% for the Nets.
Right now, you love the success from the line for the Nets on 93% and then likewise, let's talk about assist number.
Here's on 18 made field goals, and it's have 10 assists.
That's a nice percentage.
Certainly from there, you're seeing facilitation ball movement and finding open shooters.
While for Utah, they are saying just five assist on their 17 made field goals and this something actually, again, let's throw out the name one more time.
Go over to Twitter.
If you're if you're Utah Jazz fan, follow the jabber jazz podcast at Jabber Underscore, Jazz won, and Adam Bushman, who talked about this team.
I brought it up to him and he said, You know, the assistant facilitation off the offense has not been something that's necessarily been a team effort.
It's been a little bit of a one on one on one attack and guys making it happen.
Certainly, when you have a player like Donovan Mitchell, you can see that be the case sometimes.
But you can still have.
The kids will play like Kyrie Irving.
So you know the fact that the Nets have been able to still maintain on offensive rhythm, like they've liked to where they want to be high assist rate to their made field goals, even with these new components is a great thing in this season and on Utah side double when it is one on one or you know you're waiting for a player to make an individual effort on his own.
At times it can be signing.
And then we've seen here as Connolly tries to get that rhythm going for himself.
You can see a guy just, you know, take it attack and drive to the basket and get some easy buckets.
So Kyrie Irving, with the pope in the lane, is Connolly tried to swat over the back, knocks it down, extending that's lead back to 10 with just over three minutes to go here in the second.
This has been a nice back and forth one, but what I have liked about it, as Joe Ingles works down against, uh, Irving finds Gilbert up been under against Alan, and they're going to call it and one Alan take in the foul athleticism of Go Bear right now.
Ability to swing that ball down low, carry it back up and through.
He did a great reverse from the right back over the left, gets underneath and Alan doing everything you can to one stay in front of them and two not commit the foul, but cannot get away from it.
And he's going to grab an extra one here.
Expect to see him probably come out as he immediately does.
Foul trouble here.
Then Woody and Alan, both with three Harris Musa and prints sitting on two.
Currently, if those last three that I mentioned can avoid foul trouble the rest of the way through this half.
Then you can reset yourself and go into the third quarter feeling okay? And certainly out is gonna be the one to watch.
Now possibly two games in a row as foul trouble.
57 50 after the three point play from gold.
Burt didn't Woody, too.
Kyrie Kyrie going for three point shot.
He will get found by Joe Ingles.
And that is going to be three from the line for Kyrie Irving. Great job.
I did what he finding him there and Irving did not hesitate.
Getting rate up as single was trying to come around a screen set by DeAndre Jordan there and a nice look on the replay.
And and we'll see if Irving can make it through for three and give the Nets at 10 point cushion that they've been maintaining Now for a nice stretch over this second quarter and what we're gonna do just to give you guys a little bit of heads up, we're gonna go ahead and move towards halftime.
I'll do just the broad summation.
Once over, take a look at some of the staff that we've been seeing and say we want to look for as Temple will check out and knowable will come back in so again, keeping a defensive presence on the court In spite of the slight size change, there has certainly been a winning recipe right now early in this one, and he goes through for 3 10 point game 62 52 51 to go here in the second for the Brooklyn Nets.
As Connelly brings it across the line, finds it over to Donovan Mitchell, who passes off to go back on top of the key dish to Bogdanovich, fakes it and is able to knock down the jumper from just beyond the free throw line.
And maybe that's a sign of things to come for Bogdanovich Troyan Prince trying to pester him on the defensive end there as then what he will find Irving on a fade away down the baseline.
Don't look now, but Kyrie Irving maybe get himself into a bit of an offensive rhythm here.
Could be something to watch for the second half, and if you're just a pure basketball fan, that's always exciting, as Connolly, and trying to pull up just across just inside the free throw line again, gets it And if you want to talk about an issue, look, they're gonna call a travel there.
So I was going to say you saw two defensive players bite down into the lane to cover on the same player.
And unfortunately, from a Brooklyn that standpoint, you're leaving a wide open shot there for Connolly.
Lucky for them, he shuffled his feet, trying to back up and give himself some room and to turn over 10 point game.
Still, as dimwit, he finds Irving, Irving finds didn't Woody again around the screen set by Irving up and over Vernon Witty to DeAndre Jordan buckets.
And we're looking at 64 5th of the lead.
Excuse me here for the Brooklyn Nets.
Coming up on a minute for it to go here.
Bench points is what we talked about.
Not a lot coming from necessarily coming from the Utah Jazz.
As Connolly gets fouled going to the lane.
This will be on looks like DeAndre.
Jordan, 22 to 9.
Excuse me? Yes, 1st 1 of the broadcast.
That's not too bad. Ah, 20 to 9.
So you talked about it? You don't have Kyrie.
Irving, You sorry you don't have Caris Levert.
You need to look to Temple to pick up the slack, as he did.
And then you also saw contributions from the bench, certainly in Spencer Dinwiddie there, and they are carrying the day.
And as we have seen, when the Nets benches playing strong, the Nets tend to have success in games.
There's a great first half indicator further Brooklyn Nets and hopefully looking into the second half that they can have success.
Another thing that we talked about before is that the Nets tend to be a strong team in the first half of game and then struggle coming out in the second half.
So with a lead right now sitting at 11 maybe they can push it even a little bit more here with a minute 40 to go.
I want to see the Kenny Atkinson gets them in the locker room and certainly keeps this rhythm going.
Crossover from Kyrie.
Little bit of heat check from three goes off the rim and rebounded by gold bear heading back the other way into the hands of Donovan Mitchell.
He has Kyrie and match up screen from Gobert.
Pull up. Three in and out.
And that's gonna be the rebound going by, DeAndre.
Jordan heading over.
Spencer did what? His brains across the court will take a look.
He drives through the lane.
He wanted to go up.
He wanted to go up and over, and Spencer did with his argument.
He got held there because that alley oop look, I was gonna be a past to DeAndre Jordan's of going off the top of the backboard.
Not gonna matter that he's arguing the call, though.
It's going the other way on a turnover and this one just over.
They called a foul on that one that he probably pushed up, pushed yet push the defender off, as he's been known to do from time to time.
Third Salford for Spencer Dinwiddie.
And now we are in that dangerous areas.
We head towards that second half will see what happens here as Gobert drives in, kicks out to Mitchell Mitchell fakes the past, then over the angles wide open three front rim and it's gonna be 20 on Prince coming down the rebound.
And David, you will bring it across with 45 seconds to go here in the first around 100 Jordan screen into the lane with the Donovan Mitchell watching goes outside on a bit of a Aaron cast to 20 prints recovers with angles guarding him.
That's Bogdanovich on the guard.
Just inside the three point line.
Taurean Prince takes them on and knocks down the jumper.
66 53 30 seconds to go here in the first half nets with 13 point lead.
You want to see them? Keep this going here as you watch in a while, but try to fight over top of Joe Ingles.
Trina's tries to stay with Donovan Mitchell.
It will now be a switch, and it will be Spencer Dinwiddie guarding Mitchell here, too. Closed out.
Kick over to Connelly fakes.
The jumper out two angles, a wild shot misses.
And with 10 seconds to go here, Nets could get the final look in the hands of Kyrie. Irving.
Drives to the lane, takes on Go bear off class and in beautiful job by Kyrie Irving.
He wants the and one, by the way, friends, as Connelly tries to throw one up.
There does not get it, and the Nets close out the first half, 68 to 53 15 point lead.
You have to love what you see in this 14 shore, and, you know, if you wanted to come in and say, a team that likes to play strong defense in the Utah Jazz and explosive offenses in the Brooklyn Nets, this is what's bearing out right now as the Nets are on pace to hit.
That hit that 1 20 plus mark on pace for 1 32 right now.
And you know the Utah Jazz rating that +106 kind of range.
So they're both performing at their offensive levels.
The problem right now for Utah is they have not been able to stop the Brooklyn Nets.
Let's go ahead and dive into the numbers, will set the table here and then, like I said, I'm gonna go ahead and step away briefly.
I'll come back in as the third quarter action gets going, give myself a little bit of reprieve.
Maybe Philip my my teacup here and get back ready for the game action in the second half.
Want to go ahead and also just thank you guys real quick for checking in with us.
We're seeing a lot of the familiar faces joining in on the broadcast.
I've been really appreciating it, actually touch base with the powers that be over it. SportsCastr.
This is going really well for us, and you're helping push us towards getting that official Brooklyn Nets affiliate for the SportsCastr Stream.
Thanks for that.
As we continue down that road, let's go ahead and dived into the stat lines here as we take a look at the halftime.
So for the Brooklyn Nets leading score is gonna be Kyrie.
Irving shows up there in the second quarter now has 17 6 of 13 from the field, not hitting a three point shot.
Has gotten to the line five for five and only kicked in to assist to this point.
Has a couple of turnovers.
Not a big deal, plus 21 rating for him right behind them.
A story on Prince.
Five eights in 15 minutes of action, 12 points plus 13 raining, kicking in three rebounds total all on the defensive glass and we talked about gang rebounding.
Making a team effort Follow that up in the starting rotation by Garrett Temple has given you 10 on 14 minutes.
Action three or four from the field, +13 point shot going down and got to the line, three of three from there as well.
From the bench side of things, we didn't seem used to get a ton of action there in the second quarter, but he had a nice run.
Seven minutes three or three, knocked out his three point attempts, had a rebound to go along with that.
And what I would probably say is you're still going to see him get that same kind of spell in the second half year.
But it's probably Kenny Kenny Atkinson basically saying Nice burst way to give us some way to give us some positive action there.
And now go ahead and hold on to that positivity.
We're gonna use you for one more burst, and we can use you for 14 15 minutes in this game.
We're gonna feel really good about it.
Maybe you get to move into some of that garbage time.
If the Nets can extend this lead in the third quarter, or at least maintain it and then music can continue to build on that confidence, so love the contributions from him didn't Woody with the 13 minutes of action to a five for the field, one of four from beyond the arc hit the free throws.
Didn't have any of that second quarter again.
We mentioned that early Falco, now the halftime foul trouble for him with three fouls, but also had four assists in a plus plus seven rating on his nine points.
Those the two big contributors from the bench? Certainly, uh, no.
Wahba looked very strong to go along with Temple on the defensive side of things in a while, but had a SWAT two blocks, actually, in this one.
So he gets that plus six rating from the Nets and really everybody outside of Jared Allen.
That foul trouble looks pretty strong in this one.
Last I will touch on, of course, is just because he was on the floor and because we love him and that's going to be Nicholas.
Klaxon listen only took one ugly three point attempt as the shot clock was winding out, but in six minutes of action, one readout on the defensive side also had the assist.
Also had a steel contributed.
So again, that's just a guy that I'm high on, and I think he can do good things for you on the Utah Jazz side of things quickly.
Here we saw a nice balance between the guys you would expect.
It looks like Connolly is carrying over that rhythm from the game against the Golden State Warriors in the second quarter.
There did a nice job contributing 10 points from him.
12 from Gold Bear, 12 from Mitchell.
You also have a kicked in from Bogdanovich after having a slow start now three of eight from the field and then in the bench.
This is what we talked about.
Not a lot of action there.
They've actually they shrink their bench.
Therefore players and green angles.
Bradley and Moody A contributing for a combined.
What is it there? We got a good mind, nine points.
So this would you know that bench match up? The Nets are certainly winning that battle.
And what does it just put a lot of pressure on? Your offense is starting unit to carry the day, and so far, so good making Mitchell work.
He's, ah, shooting 50% from the field.
You don't expect them to have a hard time, but you know they're doing enough to to stymie them.
And certainly the struggles from beyond the beyond the arc one of 13 in the first half for the Utah Jazz is an issue for them.
14 of 18 from the line.
We mentioned that Nets able to turn that stat line around 17 of 18 for themselves as well.
So even on attempts, Nets knocking down those those free points from the free throw line.
And that's been a positive for them.
And then, comparatively, 56% from Brooklyn, that's in the first half, 41 from the field for the Utah Jazz.
Last stat line to note.
It's a positive for both of these teams when you talk about it.
And that is, of course, the turnovers Nets 76 for the Utah Jazz.
So silver lining while 15 may still seem like a high number.
If the Nets can go ahead and stick around that, they're gonna feel pretty good about it again.
11 assists for the Nets in the first half to just 64 the Utah Jazz and that stat line we mentioned in the second quarter 22 denying the bench points.
That's what you're looking for is also marks the most points given up by the Utah Jazz in the first half, but 68 bears out when you're holding opponents to just under 100.
So look to see the Nets continue this offensive prowess in the second half.
Pretty big, positive thing here, too, In spite of the fact of how much the Utah Jazz it struggle for the three point line, Nets have only knocked down 5 16 It's it's below their average, so they can start to get some of those looks to go certainly will be a positive and something help extend this lead in the second half of the little things that I'm looking for.
I'm surprised that Joe Harris hasn't had those looks from beyond the arc, but you know you can't complain about it when you're getting the results.
What I will say to is, you know, we talked about it being a willing defender.
I do think that when you're expending energy on the defensive side of the ball can impact you offensively, certainly, And with the influx of guys like Tori on prints and contributions from Garrett Temple, when he's gotten into the rotation, you can have him shipped away a little bit and maybe expend that energy trying to de up on people.
But we'll be interested to see how his defensive rating bears out over the course of the season here.
And if he starts to get into that positive rating, then you see some of this trade off here, and certainly in the game when you're up by 15 and half, you're not gonna worry too much about that.
Looking forward to seeing how klaxon in Musa get in early here in this third quarter, I'd like to see after the starting unit has their run, let them get their stretch and see how far they can take it.
I want to see the bench continue to carry the day for the Brooklyn Nets.
Certainly, and we'll come back with second half action here in, you know, just about 5 10 minutes brief break for me to collect my breath and try to just settle myself back down in, as I can't be anything less than ecstatic about what we've seen in the first half here.
As we say, you can always follows over on Twitter.
Doug Nori's got the action.
Therefore you at? We got nets.
Given that I'm doing the wire, the wire coverage here.
You're not going to see a lot of me in terms of the INSTAGRAM presence in this one.
But I will be wrapping up and getting some stat lines after the post game tonight.
So we're gonna go ahead and hop off here for a moment.
I'll be back at the start of the third quarter to carry us through all the way.
Thanks for joining us on the We got Nets streaming on. SportsCastr.
See it in about 10.
