Welcome back, everybody.
This is Alex from unwrap sports here to break down this crazy Monday Night football game we had today, which was between the Seattle Seahawks at the San Francisco 40 Niners.
What a game! This WAAS There was so much to really point out as as what was the clear defining moment or the clear defining unit that really solidified this game.
But I first and foremost want to definitely congratulate the 40 Niners defense for, you know, keeping Russell Wilson and check for as long as they did.
You know, they prevented they were prevented the Seattle Seahawks from really getting anything going on the offensive side in the first half.
Seahawks had seven points, but it was off a defensive touchdown that should not be frowned upon that.
I know that, you know, You see, the score was tied 24 24.
Russell Wilson is having an M v P year.
He is going to get down the field at some point.
Holding him off his long as he did and was able to really push it to kind of hold on was was impressive to with the way that they held it down you know, Bosa played very well.
The rookie who's taking over from Kwon Spot played exceptional.
Well, you know, this 40 Niners unit is not something to scoff at.
They played exceptionally well.
They really pressured Russell Wilson throughout this game.
Not even just in the first half of the really dominated that offense.
But I am so impressed with Bosa just the way that he doesn't stop.
He has that he has a motor on it like I've seen place where you know he's rushing on the left side ends of making a tackle on the right side of the field.
You know those air plays of just pure just don't want to be great, the want toe to help your team out any way possible.
And that was just so impressive.
And Richard Sherman had a couple plays.
He he laid the wood down her locket on a on a wide receiver run just very impressive, by the way that the 40 Niners play defense and kept Russell Wilson and check Russell Wilson can score in Bunches and you know he's a threat to run and he's a threat to throw complete and total just It was very impressive for the 40 Niners that that defense is going to be part of the reason that they make it to the Super Bowl.
If they do make it another thing.
He had all the adversity against them with, you know, those those miscues, the fumbles, you know, those you know, those tough plays that he didn't make, you know, even that late interception in overtime, his ability to just make plays and keep the drive going.
This was the one of the crowning moments for him.
If it wasn't for Lamar Jackson having more, statistically strong and you know he you know he beat the Patriots, you know, he was a part of the unit that beat the Patriots.
You know, it would be an easy win for Russell Wilson.
But you know, it's it's a It's a two man race at the moment, and between them are Jackson and Russell Wilson.
You know, you could flip a coin and pick one, and I wouldn't really fight you too much on either of them.
This was such an impressive win for Russell Wilson.
You know, there was very gutsy, you know, when he got down to it, and the overtime when he threw that interception.
You know, when he was on a bit of a hot streak, you know, they got the ball again and just the way that he was able to balance back and don't let that get to him.
I remember Aaron Rodgers saying You have to have a short memory, especially when you have turnovers in the game.
And Russell Wilson definitely has that poise.
You know, he's He's definitely ah, vet in every sense of the word.
He definitely handled the adversity of this game.
This game was a hard fought victory.
You know, you couldn't give in at any moment or you really put yourself in a tough spot.
I Russell's indefinitely added a nice crowning performance to his M V P campaign with the 40 Niners receivers.
It was encouraging to see Debo Samuel step up.
I know that he no, prior to the season was gonna be one of the ones that, you know.
It looked like, you know, he was gonna have a lot of potential.
He had the speed.
He had a lot of the intangibles.
But, you know, you didn't know if he was gonna be able to get it together where he was going to be some sort of mechanic player or a specialized speed guy.
But he has really grown into a reliable target for Garoppolo.
And with Emmanuel Sanders going down, George Kiddo being injured, Debo Samuel played a hell of a game.
Let me just pull up the stats, he he lets see dear Oh, Samuel ended up with eight receptions, 112 yards, very impressed with him, impressed with Born as well, you know, four catches, 42 yards touchdown and that important two point conversion.
The play of these young receivers is so important for this team, because outside of Emmanuel Sanders and George Kittle, they don't really have a lot of consistent veteran presence.
Because I don't wanna, you know, knock marquees Goodwin.
But he's a boom or bust type of player.
You know he will bust off a big gain and, you know, gas your defense, the game, but then disappear for three or four games.
It's just the way that they use him in the way that you know his speed and other intangibles of his out of his skill play into it.
You know, he isn't one of the reliable guys on offense and very encouraging for the 40 Niners.
I know there was a lot of crucial drops and near the end, but, you know, you do have a young receiving group outside of your top two targets, but it was an impressive showing nonetheless.
I know a lot of it's gonna be made made of, you know, grapples intuition of getting the ball where it needs to be.
You know, there was some throws where it wasn't necessarily receivers fault, but you know the body to in the hands, you know, it's like, You know what? All of our coaches, who you know if you played football, if it touches your hands, you are responsible for getting that ball.
And, you know, unfortunately, didn't go for them on some of those drives that they really needed a reception.
But that's going to come in time.
These players are Debo Samuel born.
Those guys are players you could build with.
You know Emmanuel Sanders being there is as a guide as well is going to be major for them down the line.
You know why they make this really deep playoff run? No, I believe that out of all the teams that have gone eight, no, only two of them have actually won the Super Bowl.
I believe it was the Saints and the Colts, I believe.
Ah, and I know some of us remember the Patriots that went 18 and one.
So you know, they definitely need all hands on deck to be able to get this this team to that level.
But I definitely want to give them their credit, even though I know they're going to probably get destroyed by the media by how they played in the last couple of drives.
I wanted to also, you know, point out injuries.
You know, I saw locket didn't play down the stretch.
Hey has a lower leg bruise that from what I was reading, is very concerning to them.
They had him leave right after the game and get checked on that.
That could be a major hit to them if he is down for an extended amount of time decay.
Metcalfe has been, you know, one of Russell Wilson's go to targets, but he's had the benefit of having Thai locket stretched out the field a bit.
It's good that they're getting Josh Gordon in and he, you know, got a couple plays in there, you know, definitely proved his worth to Russell Wilson and those key moments.
But you definitely wanna have your clear cut number one anti lock it and him having that injury and very concerning for their offense.
Chris Carson put it on the ground once.
I believe this team has the potential to really make a run, but it's actually on the skill players to really hold the down, as Russell Wilson is continuing to show that he is doing everything he can to put this team in a play in a position to win.
And he is having such an M V P caliber season.
Ah, lot of quarterbacks that Air Mobile that end up kind of going towards the, you know, I'm gonna lean in the pocket.
You know, they have that sneaky ability of being able to run, you know, when the pocket gets a little tight, you know the way Michael Vick would do.
No way Ben Roethlisberger did earlier in his career.
So it's just such a dynamic player that they have in Russell Wilson, Um, but with injuries to for the 40 Niners.
It was tragic for them to have lost Robbie Gold.
You know, they definitely missed him.
But you know that That kicker for me pull up his name, make sure don't botch his name.
But he you know, outside of that one missed field goal when I was a battle and I definitely believe it.
But outside of that, he was three for three before that, No.
One for one extra point.
He played exceptionally well coming off, you know? Hey, come in off the street one weekend joining this team and, you know, doing what he can to put them in a position to win.
Unfortunately for him, that last Miss Field was what they're going to remember them for.
But I think you know if if Gold misses another week or two, I would still be confident with that kicker.
I would just kind of, you know, one of those situations where as a head coach or as a teammate, you kind of have to go to him and say, Shake it off and it's it's it's one game we haven't We have a long season ago, so I that kicker played exceptionally well just unfortunate that that last play really overshadows what he did for the Seahawks in this game.
But what a what a game and this really is gonna be. In an example.
What's gonna happen Week 17 depending if players are going to be resting.
But, you know, it could have a lot of, Ah, another look for you know what a matchup in the playoffs.
As you know, both these teams look to be driving towards a strong push towards the postseason, and it looks to be like that it's going to man race.
The Los Angeles Rams, even after training for Jalen Ramsey, don't look like a team that are going to, you know, make a late push.
They're just struggling team on offense, a team that has its moments on defense.
But it looks like the Rams air officially having the quote unquote Super Bowl hangover.
So Seahawks and San Francisco are your teams from the West.
Um, another note I want to say about this game is how important it is for the way that the play calling went so I know as I was kind of, you know, searching the Web on Twitter kind of going through the game and seeing how people were reacting to this over time that, you know, it kept on going back and forth and you start seeing those jokes about, you know, neither team wants to win our or hey you to you in this one.
No, you on this one.
And the punting is a testament to the way their defense is played.
I think that each coach felt comfortable with their defense for holding on to the holding onto ah, their position and holding the opposing offense off to get them the ball back.
And it worked as they Both both teams had ended up punting once each, I believe, but for the Seattle Seahawks, I give a lot of credit to that defense.
I know it's been torched a few times of the season, but Jadeveon Clowney is a key component of that pass rush.
As you know, he definitely no wasn't getting to the quarterback as often as you know.
If you were watching the game, it looked, but it his contributions.
You know that trade along with the trade for, I believe, believe his last name from the Detroit Ryan's.
I just don't want to botch his name.
He had interceptions game, which was, you know, one of those moments where it's like That's why you trade for, for for that guy? Oh, it is.
You know, he had a big play in this game, you know, it's That's two guys with Seattle Seahawks picked up, you know, prior to the season, you know during the season, and and had a big impact when it mattered most.
And that's what it really comes down to is you need players that could make plays When when they need to happen, you know, it's almost like, you know, the ad reads, or the tripe Ala Moloch of being able to make a play when your team is just the team is driving, used to stop them.
I mean, foreigners had that play themselves when most Wilson got intercepted, so I think there's not too much to knock on either team.
I know some people are going to try to speak about grapple those passing woes, but that team is set up to not have to have grappa win games necessarily.
I know I'm in a lot of my streams.
I've basically said that grab.
Lo has kind of been in a good position where he hasn't had to win.
He did have to win the game against the Arizona Cardinals, which has a very terrible past defense.
And, you know, he definitely took full advantage of that.
No, not to him on that O.
I don't throw any grain of salt on that.
You know, you you have to still play well to be ableto have a good performance against any team.
But I think this game really showed that Garoppolo doesn't have that killer instinct get, and I think that's more that's gonna come a time.
He's only so This is, I believe, is 18 through 19 games started in the NFL.
You know, he's still very cold unquote green, so I think that's going to be something that's gonna gonna come and you will end up performing a lot better during these clutch moments.
But we are going to remember he's only started 18 19 games.
So a lot of that intuition that game speed in these in these close moments are still something that he's gonna have to process and pick up.
As you know, he continues to play more and more, but kudos to the Seattle Seahawks.
What a victory! And, you know, hold your head up high. San Francisco.
You guys are eight and one.
You guys have a great defense, Great running game and Garoppolo, you know, Ah, quarterback that looks to be developing in the right direction.
So hell of a game for Monday night definitely kept us are watching this game and give us a free 15 minutes of football.
So thank you to both teams.
That is it for my stream.
This is Alex from unwrap Sports have a good one.
