Scoring fromthe lead sports media, um, doing my 1st 1 of these so I'm not gonna get into some post game recaps.
I mainly focus on the distance.
That's who I'll be typically doing.
So I'm checking after their game tonight against the Timberwolves, but a little bit since is the 1st 1 kind of introduce myself a little bit? I've been writing for the lead for about a year.
I've been a Pistons fan since, basically since I was born.
I don't know why I'm from Pittsburgh, as you can see where it's been located, but they've always been my team.
They've been bad for a while, so it's been a It's been a hard way to go for a while, but because I've been writing for them about them for about a year for the lead.
Ah, also right about the Lakers, the next kind of the MBA.
A large whenever I get a chance.
Um, ass of a podcast called the stretch three podcast.
Um, so everyone protect us out.
Go ahead. Check that out.
Um, and that's about it.
So, uh, he's gonna be perfect, uh, kind of new to this, so I'm gonna be doing kind of game recaps.
And I'll typically be wearing something that goes with the game that I'm aware that I'm watching tonight.
So I have this distance retro snapped back on a 1989 90 championship T shirt back when we were actually doing things.
So it doesn't happen all the time.
Hopefully, we're getting back to it.
And, well, tonight was a tough loss, Um, some positives to take from it.
So I'm gonna try to stay pretty positive on these.
I know a lot of Pistons fans and Twitter fans in general and to get really negative and talk about how the rest sucker trade this country that, you know, obviously going to trades eventually, but kind of what I'm gonna talk about it is some of the things that were really hard about the away from this game because if you weren't a pan of the distance, it was a generally entertaining game, you know, kind of started the positives for the other team.
Um, weakens look fantastic.
I really enjoyed watching him. I liked him in college.
Obviously, there was a reason we have the number one pick and I was kind of in a fan appears from afar, even though he has been pretty rough.
Uh, the most years.
My co host on Stretch three, Kam Johnson is a big people's fan, and we talk pretty often about the struggles of Wiggins and kind of how he's come along.
But it looks like I don't know what he did this summer, but he's really developed into a more efficient player and he's a scoring machine.
He had 33 points tonight.
All right, let's see 12 20 shooting.
That's that's That's not the weekend I'm used to. But that's the Wiggins.
I kind of expected coming out of college and you can kind of continue this early season success.
He's exactly with Wolves Need, uh, that Towns is obviously fantastic.
You don't have an amazing game, though.
His numbers are good, but watching the game was a very quiet version of that.
He kind of got into it a little bit early with Drummond and there was a what I would call a flopping situation and I'm pretty pro.
Sounds typically, but it was it didn't look right.
Um and he was like it was 25 8 and six was very quiet.
You wouldn't have known it if you weren't really looking at the statue.
Wiggins was really the story for them.
And the other story for them was the threes.
I mean, after being pretty bad last night, they started off six straight from the field.
They were six for 45 yesterday.
So not something that any Pistons fans really would've expected.
Certainly know we hope for The crowd was already pretty dead from an end because of all the snow in Detroit.
So I'm getting off to a hot start like that is not what we needed.
We started off with the lead and looking good early with Blake in his first game this season, Threatening capacity is driving to the lane.
Um, there goes his back, so he looked good as well.
Um, but Andre gotten quick foul trouble, and it kind of went downhill from there.
Uh, it was good to see Luke with Blake.
Luke has been very good this year.
Uh, taking a lot of steps forward is 1/3 year player, and we'd like to see that continue.
He's a great shooter on.
He's really adding some playmate moved to his repertoire, which is not a lot of people can't they just think you can hardly think, Ah, he's gonna stand straight threes and that's about it.
But he's really turning into a more dynamic offensive player, and some of that is that he's been guns and roses with Rose off the bench, and both of them started tonight.
I don't think that's something that will continue, Um, but watching him play with Blake is very promising.
He really had something to that.
So it's gonna have laid back.
Arm is gonna have rows back.
It's gonna have. I like Tim Fraser.
So he has not been great for the pistol, but I like seeing them get a chance.
Is a little too confident, a little too ready to shoot the ball when that's all we need from him.
We really need his playmate King, especially Reggie Jackson out.
But, um, we'll see what happens.
It's Blake was obviously on man's restriction, and there were times where people fantastical that the same a blade.
He was bowling spin moves rushing to the hoop, Um, really barreling into traffic.
There was one point.
There was a picture where it was all five minutes of defenders were kind of converging on the paint, and it really opens a plane for a shooters.
They just make the shots.
And if it's Luke, I feel comfortable.
Helmet get Tony Snow had another solid game last.
Damien was perfect.
This gave me was at sixth grade from a field, Um, and he's really kind of getting a little bit more comfortable.
His defense is kind of still have exists, which we weren't expecting coming in.
We don't We thought that he would be more of a defensive, help your family and have a starting caliber small forward, and he hasn't been that consistently on the defensive end.
But I think with time and getting the rotation back together, and that's the big issue for a lot of these guys.
So so that was looked at to be fourth or fifth option on me on the starting line up, and he's had to be play a bigger role with that.
That's not what he's Rubio.
Marquis Morris looked.
You look more comfortable as a bench player.
I still have not been a fan input he's brought to the team because it seems like a soon as the ball goes to have the possession dies.
I he's going to shoot you down a bit past very often.
Uh, he'll jump into contact, and I know he was better before he got here.
So hoping that as he gets more into a bench role, he'll be able to get more into his role.
More, um, the biggest.
The biggest highlight in terms of people other than live that people that have been here is Langston Galloway.
He's not a fantastic you're so far for what he is. I mean, he's not.
He's never gonna be like the leader of your team or anything like that.
But, um, in the fourth quarter caught fire.
He was the one reason why the fishing's almost made it to come back.
Uh, late in the game, you.
I'm bringing up this stance now.
He had 18 points on 7 11 up seven of 11 shooting, and he had an and one play out of three pointer um, that we have to challenge to get the car ready.
We got it, and he's He's just really feeling more confident.
And he's added some play, making some shooting to a team that is in desperate need of it, especially last couple games where it was just him and Brown and Luke are played.
Some put some backup point guard because everyone, all of the other cards are out.
So Langston has to step into a bigger role, and he's thriving right now.
So, um, if I'm gonna get a little bit negative, the biggest negative for the team right now is the Christian would didn't get minutes again.
He's back in Coach Casey's doghouse, and I tend to be more pro Casey from most Detroit fans.
I don't think I think there's a reason why, especially here.
I think he's very smart.
Um, he's a little bit slow to adjust. I will get.
I will give the haters that.
But he has consistently show that he can develop young players.
Um, so it'll be interesting to see where we go from here.
Um, the starting lineup.
While it looked good on paper, because it is probably your five best players you have active tonight, it really hamstrung a lot of things going forward.
So you had you had Griffin and Rose together both immense restrictions, and they're both very ball dominant players, so I don't know that we can see them.
Sure, the court too much, even though they might be the two of your top three players.
So it looks like going forward that we're the best case scenario.
If the Pistons is where Blake, Luke Robes and Drummond are all healthy and being able to play upwards of 28 to 35 minutes for the people that are on a minutes restriction, maybe more if you're not, I think Rose will probably always been a minutes restriction like we'll eventually get off that as long as his health continues to improve.
Uh, and we'll go from there.
But the goal is for there to be one of them on board at all times.
There was a point tonight where none of them were on the court, and obviously the offense struggled.
It was a pretty tough watch when you have Sohn and Tony Snell and Bruce Brown and Sophie Mukai, Luke and I forgive you that this one was off the top of my head.
It may have been Galloway I know is it was Markieff Morris, and those are all zeros offensively, but none of them really create the offense.
Do you need them to? And that gets to the other point that I kind of run in authority with Christian would not getting minutes.
But Thon Maker was the first pick off the bench.
Every time that Dre got a foul or get into foul trouble and have to come off, it was always done maker, and I'm element.
I was biased when we traded for him.
I didn't like Stanley Johnson, but I also was not extremely breath on.
I understood that he had a lot of potential, but ah, lot of the negatives you heard coming in, continuing to manifest themselves.
Um, he's stronger defensively than what I'll give him that he doesn't take his many collapses on the defensive end as what he doesn't get lost.
Where Wood is lost on the fence and my biggest issues, I think that the only way that correct itself is playing in dealing with it and getting him better and more used to it.
Casey does not like that that case, he doesn't like to be Mrs those defensive assignments and as somebody who's more conservative, we're trying to make up the winds that were missing I get it like I don't agree, but I understand he's coming from, but Song has nothing on offense, literally zero.
He There were so many passes that were perfect passes that if they were anybody else, it's easy points, but it's gone and they go off his hands.
And it's another turnover, which has been the bane of the Pistons the season.
So I think giving what a chance is the most important thing that we can do from a bench perspective other than living Derrick Rose back to the bench.
Uh, well, it's kind of got into it with people on Twitter that I thought that that was the be all and end of the game and that's not it.
I mean, if the game was gonna be one based on, if we played Christian would overthe on maker, I think we're in a much weirder place that people really, really realized.
Um, Drummond was disengaged for a lot of the game.
It was one of those rare, not rare games.
They happen probably once a month, once every three weeks, where he doesn't look as looking as you would like, but I mean we still have 33 blocks, three steals.
He wasn't completely out of it, but it wasn't the Dre that we've seen the the early part of this season.
So that's part of the problem.
Blake and Red and Derrick Rose only being able to play combined about 50 minutes.
Let me see 24 end 22 44 minutes.
That's part of the problem.
The wolf shooting insanely hot from three to start.
The game is good, is gonna get you into a hole That's very tough to come back from the Pistons right now.
We're not a good defensive team.
I don't see how they fix that, necessarily unless they make a move, which I don't think they're rushing to do, especially with integrating all these players back in and maybe increased effort.
But you have a lot of guys that are not known for their defense on this team, Right? Blake Griffin is the best system.
We've had probably 10 years.
He's not a phenomenal defensive plan there.
Drumming can be good defensively, but not in terms of like a Rudy Gobert who changed the entirety entire identity of your theme defense on that lot of Derrick rose, and we cannot hard and people that aren't going to be strong defensively.
So, um, it remains to be seen if they can correct that side of the ball.
Luckily there in the East and I think now the fault of 44 and seven.
So I've been coming in tonight.
They were the nine seed.
It's obviously early, so playoffs even isn't the biggest issue.
But you see that they're right in the thick of things, still about an eighth of the way through the season.
They're not out of that yet.
It's it's tough and they will reintegrate everybody.
And then hopefully in about a month, you're re integrating Reggie Jackson as well, uh, to see where we go from there.
But it's not all negative.
It's very easy to get very negative whenever it's another loss to run the team.
And this is the first time this was a big joke among some people in business with.
This is the first time the town has ever beat the Pistons.
He's he was over eight coming into this game against Andre Drummond, which was kind of, Ah, big puff out your chest moment because one is one of the better centers in the league, and drumming is one of the more made fun of for lack of a better term.
I mean, he everyone says he's the worst guy that could get a Max contract and things like that, but Germans very good and having him own somebody like that on whenever Ah, Joel Embiid claims to own real estate in German's head It's nice having that advantage on somebody and we'll eat.
The one is still very good.
It's not undefeated, so it's kind of a negative to take from tonight.
But, um, this is kind of what we're gonna do these things.
I'm gonna try try to do these for every game that I kind of follow.
Um, I also did a little bit of coverage for the Lakers and the next.
I don't know that I'll be doing as many of those for these, or if there's something that I'm gonna get on and talk about with you guys, I will jump on here.
Um, but I'll probably do these after most Pistons game, so I intend to be back on here tomorrow when business play another back.
The back against a very game.
I'm not expecting necessarily a better result.
Um, coming into the season, I might of because I wasn't very high on the heat.
Um, because I didn't spend Rickman coming.
I thought Tyler hero would be solid.
Um, I'm I like bam, bam, bam! Out of Iowa.
I just didn't see everything clicking this well this quickly.
Um, but they've been really, really interesting to start the season, so hopefully maybe we can get back on track, But I'm not too acidic.
Especially you having two guys on a minutes restriction on the back, the back.
It's not the most promising situation.
But either way, um, we'll be back here tomorrow night to kind of talk about what happened there.
See what we can take from that game and hopefully something a little bit more positive.
Uh, if you want, you can follow me at Cory.
C o r e d y t l s m But at on Twitter that I read for the lead sports media.
You can follow me a pistons lead at Lakers lead at next lead.
We have a podcast, abstract three podcast.
And if you want to take that stuff out, by all means, If not, I'll see you guys tomorrow
