Everybody, welcome back.
This is Alex from unwraps for its you to do a breakdown on Thursday Night Football.
I apologize that this is so late.
I was just sick on my deathbed this past week, so I apologize for this being so ****y.
But I definitely wanted to get my point across on this game.
Thursday Night Football for Wheat.
We have the Los Angeles charges visiting the Oakland Raiders Chargers losses game 24 26.
Prior to the game, I felt really confident with the Chargers that they were going to be able to use the momentum from beating the Packers, too, facing a Raiders football team that had been on a bit of a hot streak as of late there, offense that really been playing well and their defense had begun to, you know, show flashes of potential as it's kind of been their Achilles heel for the majority of the season.
I'm gonna go ahead and just have three takeaways from this game.
Rivers Inaccurate day.
If you know if you watch this game, you would see the way that the offense was going.
You could tell that their offense was just not in sync.
A lot of the throes of Philip Rivers was making were inaccurate, you know, he wasn't hitting his target.
It was just a very peculiar data.
Watch this offense.
It was surprising that they struggled as they did with even keen Alan getting more involved, which had been a bit of an issue the past couple of weeks.
He had, I believe, eight receptions for 68 yards.
I believe he was well involved in this offense.
Wasn't able to get much going on in regards to getting into the end zone, but it just seemed like Rivers was just completely off this game, you know, Maybe it was just putting.
Maybe it was the pressure in his face.
He definitely underperformed, quite so keep just underperforming and every aspect of his of his accuracy.
It was something that was just so weird to see because we all know Philip Rivers can be a gun slinger.
He can lead a team down 1/4 quarter drive and win a game, you know, with him willing them to victory.
But it just seemed like this passing offense was just struggling.
Melvin Gordon and Neck Lor.
You know, They've definitely shown that they have the ability to, you know, get yards through the ground.
But is this this Raiders defense? Definitely, You know, put consistent pressure on Philip Rivers and Philip Rivers ended up having more yards to Harris, the defensive back for the Raiders than he did his receivers with the two interceptions that Harris had.
It was a game where I think we definitely need to.
Which address, which is Raiders defense steps up? Raiders defense had been a huge weakness for this team.
I know that, you know, it's like I said earlier, it was their Achilles heel.
It was something that I see with the with the Oakland Raiders that you know they did treat Gary on Colin Lee, a player that I know at struggled a bit.
But I still had a lot of faith in his ability to really cover.
But you know, this Raiders defensive front continually kept pressure on Rivers as they amassed five sacks and three interceptions.
Which one went for a touchdown? The debt, the their offense has been noteworthy, you know, for the Raiders, they've had Waller, Tyrone Williams, you know, Hunter Renfroe showing some flashes, Josh Jacobs or really good unit on offense, and it seemed like their defense was going to be what held them back.
But this was just such an encouraging game.
I know it's against the very inconsistent team in the Los Angeles charges, but the Raiders defense was just exceptional.
You know, I hope that this is something that they can build off of.
You know, they're a team that you know, could be a sneaky team near the end of the season.
They they really did well to keep up with, to keep their their team in the game on defense.
And you know, it was.
It's encouraging for them moving forward.
This level of play will be what they really need to finish off.
This last second half push for the playoffs.
Now we have here is the next part I want to talk about is the division implications, with Rader's winning in the chief's losing a heartbreaking wanna Tennessee that makes the second half of the season that much more interesting.
The Chiefs were a team with some concerns on how Mahomes Knee will hold up and if the defense and running game can really get going, the defense of the running game kind of had a couple of head of one or two games where they played very well.
But, you know, Mahomes gets back, and, you know, the Tennessee Titans were able to cash them for 35 points.
Um, Raiders were playing well.
I thought at the right time they could be in a position to usurp the chief's out of their first place spot.
The Chiefs schedule.
I mean, the chief schedules a little bit tougher than the Raiders is.
Raiders have a more favorable schedule down the stretch Chiefs To have that, I believe the one game lead at the moment.
It's gonna be a very interesting second half of the season, as it's gonna be a lot of pressure on Patrick Mahomes, you know, especially with him coming in and, you know, playing exceptionally well thrown for 400 yards.
And now him having to, you know, go toe co face New England, you know, and go face the Texan.
It's going to be a very interesting next couple of weeks, I think for me, the biggest thing for for the Raiders is that they're in a position where they can really jump the Chiefs that they drop a couple of games against their tougher opponents.
This game was just overall, one of those games where you just look at it in before the game.
You know, the Chargers had such a great showing against the grim Green Bay Packers.
Their defense was phenomenal.
Their offense did what they had to do to get that victory.
So it was very disappointing for the Chargers, who continue to have an up and down roller coaster season.
They're very inconsistent.
I you know, I think you can basically stick a fork in them.
They're basically done.
I think they're, you know, they're gonna win some games down the line, but nothing that's gonna put them in a position to really make a run for the playoffs.
But you know, Oakland Raiders are hot.
Team definitely won that I would be looking at for the wild card spot.
It's not maybe taking the spot away from the Kansas City Chiefs that they fall asleep on the wheel.
All right, well, that is it for my Thursday Night Football recap.
Thank you for watching.
I will be back in about a couple of minutes just to go over Sunday Night Football.
Minnesota Vikings at Dallas Cowboys.
